What major do u think tim would be in?🤔 i have a few options in mind, like archaelogy, mechanical engineering or even psychology, but havent been able to settle for any of them
Tysm!
Tim is that one kid who changes his major every semester for the first two years because he can't decide on what he wants to do, takes a gap year in the middle of his degree to go hiking in Albania, and then comes back and graduates with a double major and a minor with a solid B average because he decided if he couldn't choose one thing to do, he'll just do it all, and then got overloaded while trying to finish because nothing he picked has any overlapping reqs.
In my mind, he starts off in business because "it's the major my dad would have wanted me to pick", switches to computer science after a serious come to jesus talk with his advisor because it's what he thinks he's interested in, and then finally lands on mechanical engineering after he sits down and realizes he only actually likes doing computer stuff for fun and Robining and not as an actual job. He ends up coupling the engineering degree with a double major in sports medicine and a minor in photography.
#he also dismantles two cults on campus joins a DnD group and goes through three love interests in the time it takes him to graduate#dc comics#tim drake#asks#writing ideas#tim drake meta#(sort of)#i can see tim ending up as like...a car mechanic who has a side gig taking care of high school athletes honestly#also did I namedrop the sports medicine because of Dana? ......maybe....maybe not.#maybe I just think Tim technically being a medical professional would be funny as hell

I can take many things but seeing fellow artists being extremely unprofessional about commissions, taking longer than the ToS said, not communicating, dismissing the clients and acting passive aggressive...
It sucks and hurts me, and other artists cuz now a bunch of people have bad experiences and are now afraid of working with us.
Really sucks man.
#like.... just communicate...#idk man#it's like they don't take the job serious#i've seen other artists that take it as a side gig at best being 105489378% more professional than some that claim to be pros

i never thought this would happen but i am making a "linkedin" account and arranging a composition portfolio because it might help me find some composer-for-hire gigs.
#i know a lot of composer-for-hire gigs are getting shrugged off into the genai mines but there's still a demand regardless#finally “professionalizing” my craft i feel weird doin it but its a necessary step if i want to advance#gotta get a nice headshot for my profile

What do you think as Hermione's career would be post battle of Hogwarts? To me her being minister for magic really doesn't make sense. She does not have patience or tact to wade through murky waters of politics 😭😭
So hard to say! The Trio are so, so young when we leave them, I find it almost impossible to project their futures farther than a few years out. The job that suited me at 17 would be radically unsuited to me now. That's why of all the Trio, Ron's ending strikes me as the most realistic — he jumps straight into the save-the-world business again, burns out, realizes he's actually Done The Fuck Enough, Thanks, and pivots into a low-stress career where he gets to see his family a lot. Feels accurate! The others are weirder to me because they do seem to just... pick a lane and stay there.
With Hermione, you could spin her a couple ways. You could say that she leans into her bookish side and does research or teaching, which is not my preference for a couple reasons (namely, I don't think Hermione would like academia as a profession; she finds her classwork interesting and enjoys intellectual validation, but she'd be stifled and wasted in a DPhil program, and she'd be infuriated by the administrative politicking of your average higher-ed faculty). You could say that she gets disaffected with politics and ends up as a barrister or a lobbyist of some kind, but if anything that requires more political finesse, because you don't actually have institutional power, you're just handling the people who make decisions and trying to persuade them of your goals. This is not Hermione's preferred method of influence. She's not even particularly good at persuasion, she just happens to be smart enough (and right often enough) that people take her ideas seriously.
Or you could say her brashness fades with the years into a softened flavor of tell-you-like-it-is honesty, which some politicians actually do successfully trade on; as we see in British politics today, you don't have to be all that charming or clever to get ahead, you just need to be really driven and well-connected (which Hermione completely is; she fought shoulder-to-shoulder with the first postwar Minister and her bestie, the Literal Messiah, runs the Auror Office.) But I don't know if Hermione especially wants to be Minister, after the war. She's just watched years of horrendous bureaucratic incompetence plunge the country into a violent civil conflict. She's had not one, but two Ministers of Magic try to bully or shame her friends into complicity with fascism. Her view of government is... likely extremely dark.
But Hermione also isn't the kind of person who sees her life as a quest for happiness. Babygirl has a savior complex that makes Harry look selfish. (She basically kills her parents — yeah, obliviating is a form of murder, #changemymind — "for their own good," and justifies every batshit, vindictive, mean-spirited move she ever pulls on the grounds that it "helps" one of her friends.) She is a mean, lean, dragon-slaying machine, and she needs a dragon. After Voldemort, the Ministry is the no. 1 threat to muggle-borns and non-wizarding Beings. As a war heroine with basically infinite political capital, I'd be surprised if she didn't try to do something there. That said, Hermione is so vivacious and dynamic that she could potentially grow in a hundred different directions; it's possible that all of this, while true of her at 18, becomes completely inaccurate by 22. That's why I'm not too fussed about any particular fanon interpretation.
#greenteacup asks#sidebar: I know Minister “of” Magic is an Americanism but mea culpa#Someday I might actually bite it and pay someone to britpick Lionheart but I can't do it now#because I have a ban on editing published fic unless it's finished. Otherwise I'll never get around to writing the actual ending#I have a Process#is it the best process? likely not! but it makes the words go. so here we are.#I also think the fact that JKR is Gen X makes a difference here. careers worked differently in the 80s and 90s than they do now#i.e. we have the gig economy and a lot more mobility and EXPECTATION of mobility in your early life#that means career changes & professional pivots through your 20s and 30s are increasingly normal#and in fact have always been normal — but the image of the 'true' or 'ideal' career has changed#so we look at those careers and go hm. really? none of them changed?#none of them even went to uni? do wizards... just not?#but again. I believe the epilogue was written almost completely without consideration as to what happened between the BOH and then#I really believe that JKR did not know what happened to Harry except a wedding and 3 kids. because that was the whole point#I don't think she even knew what his career was when she wrote that scene#It existed to marry everyone off and do a quick munchkin headcount#because of the understandable temptation as an author to keep your hand on the wheel. but it didn't even matter!#the epilogue changed NOTHING! it was the most useless chapter in the series! I just — GOD#you can absolutely accuse me of being sour grapes about my ships getting nixed. I AM sour grapes. I AM a hater.#AND I have plot/theme/craft reasons for disliking it.#I'm not objective. I just want credit for being a sophisticated hater. my grapes may be sour but they're still artisinal.

Mac Gargan's m.o. since post-Superior really has been "I need to find a very powerful woman and then be a weirdly loyal jackass while in her employ" huh.
First was Liz Allan, as he was working security for Alchemax... (panels from Spider-Man 2099 [2014]). His main boss seems to be Ty Stone but, eh, Liz owns the company LOL.
At the same time, Mac was working for Felicia Hardy during her Queenpin era because, why the hell not? Would you NOT work for Felicia? Of course you would. They seem pretty tight and I'm kind of really into it. She seems to trust him and I think he should see about getting rehired by her. (Panels from Venom [2016] #2-3)
Recently, he had a pretty stable thing going with Agent Julia Gao, running with a not-quite-Thunderbolts team called the Cape Killers. He seems kinda into her threats. I really liked their dynamic and I miss her. (Carnage Reigns Alpha)
And now, Silver Sable (Venom War: Lethal Protectors #2). He doesn't actually get to join her crew - he gets zombiote'd first (don't ask) but it would have been very funny if he had.
#mac gargan#felicia hardy#silvija sablinova#silver sable#liz allan#julia gao#professional goon of all time#those first three were also arguably a few of the best gigs he had#especially working for liz. i'm sure he had full benefits.#he should get on his hands and knees and beg her to re-hire him

Ian's and my anxieties over not having work were def kind of feeding on each other last week. Friday night I dropped my entire dinner on the floor and started crying over frustration/ embarrassment and Ian was just. So gentle with me. He helped me clean it up and shared half the meat portion with me I had plated for him and said basically "we don't have to live with that kind of energy" and man. It's really nice to have someone in my life so regulating like that. You do get to decide what kind of relationships you have with people. You do get to decide sometimes how to react.
#ian got two one off shifts of work this week at least; joe needed a hand and last night i got him a barback gig for an event (he KICKED ASS)#doing my 3 PA days today hopefully someone on set thinks im a professional and can connect me to some people#i still wanna do animation and vfx but i also am trying to chase some accounting work 🤞🏻

OOC:
Thinking about how neat it is that, since the beginning, Dr Strange comics was where Marvel would experiment with weird, psychedelic, non conventional plots and concepts, and that tradition generally has continued in modern incarnations. The weaker runs are when they reign it back and tone it down for more conventional comic readers, but those golden nuggets still are a thing and I think that’s beautiful.
I enjoy MCU Strange, don’t get me wrong, but it is the most conservative version of the character. I liked MoM a lot because it felt a little more like a transition from the mundane feeling DS1 to how weird the comics can be, but there’s so much further it can go.
Anyway, thinking about my favorite modern DS comics including the Aaron run and Fall Sunrise and how Fall Sunrise is a work of Art with a capitol A.
#I have a short gig out of my own studio to get done but it’s raining and I don’t have heat in my shop#gotta get to it but motivation is decreased by raaaain#time to go professionally huff glue#OOC

that part in The Moment I Knew where she almost sighs "and I would've been so... happy" hits so hard if you've ever had someone you loved not show up when it counted
#taylor swift#reminds me of when I was 20 and my much older ex promised me he'd come see my first professional theatre gig and didn't show up

*lies down* I just had the cringest fucking idea and I don't know if I wanna be that cringe but I could easily make it happen so I'm like what if
SO...
I wasn't going to say anything for professional reasons but I voice act a little on the side (extremely small time)
And I literally live in delulu-land where I'm like 'I CAN VOICE ALL MY OWN CHARACTERS!' (not really, I wouldn't cast me for a lot of them actually but shhh)
So I'm like
*lies down* how cringe would it be to make a little back and forth between Iris and the boys with me reading Iris and using already available voice clips for the dudes....
Idk bro that's pretty cringe but do we care past this point
Thoughts????
#also i will say part of the reason i never bring it up is cause 1) wanna voice in a sad panda thing#2) don't want my voice gigs tied to fandon stuff (i like having a seperation between my personal life and professional life)#and 3) also sure tying my fandon shenangians in with my professional attempts would get me black listed XD#though i will say i doubt I'm getting cast in a sad panda thing anytime soon XD#but on god i think if i did this and anyone is casting anywhere found ot/recognized my voice I'd DIE#not that i haven't voiced cringe shit before CAUSE LAWD I HAVE#but this close to a thing i regularly sumbit auditions for????#might be playing too close to the sun or whatever

if you’ve ever “wondered” why i get on such a soapbox about industry sexism, consider that my entire career in that field which was not short i never had any creative or higher-ranking positions that paid well, because every time i advocated for/applied for one they gave it to a man over me, and in more than one instance it was the man i literally mentored. so.
#i was literally only good enough to be the unpaid intern (of course they started paying them the year after i completed mine)#or a gig worker or someone so behind the scenes they’re not doing a single god damn creative or worthwhile thing with their time.#i would have been a damn good programmer! i mean…. considering my first toxic workplace continues to rip off my taste and ideas!!!!#i’m glad i have a normal ass 9-5 job now but i mourn the creative professional life i could have had. that i worked my ass off for#and that was taken from me because of misogyny lol. anyways!!!!!!!

it occurred to me to Juxtapose the current lackadaisy triumvirate w/the former, now especially mysterious one: namely [rocky ivy freckle] vs [atlas mitzi mordecai]
you have mitzi and ivy where this is sort of an alternate, glamorous, welcoming and potentially promising world. ivy saying everyone treated her like royalty, mitzi's focus on atlas individually and the surprise of his interest & treatment.
then there's freckle and mordecai at least somewhat spontaneously drawn into "but he's just so good at it!"-based professionally shooting and killing you. perhaps also being obliged to someone as further motivation, whether they helped you finish school or not be killed today.
atlas is too mysterious & undialogued to cite any examples while considering Parallels, but you can wonder about rocky kind of being at the helm of the trio / drawing the others in, and trying to get to compose the result you want even if you're improvising your way there, but the proximity of disaster anyways
#lackadaisy#mitzi and mordecai murder mystery#which is already enriching b/c it's like oh there's just gonna be themes & character material in there#versus that say it seems all-important whether mordecai noscoped atlas himself or someone else did to argue legal liability#sort of have a smoking gun even like yeah and i bet he shot him with atlas's own gun; as comparable b/w Revolver Silhouettes there#but the detective work is like; discerning apparent Themes. speculating on what could bolster Character Arcs lol. classic#like furiously rotating like ok if you suppose mordecai absolutely living for Professionalism & avoiding Professional Complications at the#fun new Uniquely Terrible gig is in part a reaction to [murder mystery] then how to figure in a potential parallel wrt mitzi....#and that imo peak mysterious ''how Could she have even theoretically been like indirectly at fault for atlas's death'' matter....#like if you presume mordecai's thusly Doubling Down. does mitzi think atlas died to leave her the Potential that lackadaisy offers. maybe!#since she's All About That now. and trying to figure out who can best help her with that; exactly#rocky trying to be a contender thusly for sure lol#of course plenty of differences in these juxtapositions but thinking about more general parallels wrt those themes; emotional arcs....#we do love it#just have fun; that's what murder is all about. more like foulplay.die

send help, I went to a punk show last night an hour away from my house on a school night
#I'm not even hungover#or even really that sleep deprived#the damage is all psychic#I did get to experience the surreal fact that the first office I ever had for a professional writing gig got turned into a hip coffee shop#lol when the company inevitably failed due to hiring a person with a poetry degree as a tech writer#but it was cool hey I cried a lot in that very same bathroom!!#it's possible I am actually slightly hungover
