but stan never gets tricked. the only time he comes close was when he was pretending to be ford but that was with the sole purpose of getting bill erased. never does bill get to him or twist his thoughts. for being the "dumb one" he's surprisingly rational in this was.

nobody matches bill intellectually, ford's fatal flaw is that he thought he did, and the pines family wins because they have an emotional core that bill never had (the power of sibling bonding saves the day and i love it) but ill go out on a limb and say that out of everyone, stan is the only one to match bill's street smarts.

bill's a master manipulator but stan is a professional con-artist with no respect for the law, you tell me who's coming out on top.

stan successfully faked his own death, ran a business for 30 years, taught himself some sort of advanced engineering to repair the portal, evaded local, federal and international authorities from the age of 18, and did it all without any support.

and going back to when he pretends to be ford to get bill to enter his mind, that scene makes stan the only character to ever outwit bill.

Modern AU where Eddie is a tech repair person at an apple store in Chicago while he tries to make it big with his band and Steve is a spoiled rich kid who is trying to cover up that he's been using his macbook to film for his OnlyFans or something similar and he needs that shit wiped.

Eddie is as professional as he can be, but can't help but be amused at Steve being worried that he's gonna see everything.

Steve is so touch starved, he doesn't even realize the way he always folds into Eddie's side when they're just relaxing and watching a movie, or how he always lets his hand brush against his side or hand when Eddie gets home from work. Eddie helps him look for a job, and they find that he loves working at a daycare even though the money isn't that great.

They fall in love so easily, neither of them actually realize it happens until Steve comes home after a very long day before the Christmas holidays, covered in paint stains from crafts with the kids, and Eddie just welcomes him home with a kiss.

Okay so a big part of my job is answering phone calls; I am a professional person who answers phone calls from people who would rather not have to call me and who are usually confused and upset by what is happening, which often has the potential to be expensive for them. It's a stressful call to make!

As a professional phone answerer, here are the things that help ME when people call:

Be able to describe the reason that you're calling and what you would like to do about it. This is a simple two-step giving basic background information and your desired outcome so that the person answering the phone can get the process started for you. Examples: "Hi, I'm a new patient referred by Doctor X; I'd like to make an appointment with Dr. Y." "Hi, I tried to use my credit card but it was rejected, I would like to know why." "Hi, I am calling about a late payment; I would like it removed from my record." "Hi, my sink is leaking and I'd like to schedule a visit for repair." "Hi, I think my computer has a virus, I'd like to bring it in to get checked out."

Call when you have some time. Don't call when you've only got five minutes to be on the phone, this could take a while and you will be less stressed if you call when you've got at least ten minutes to half an hour where you won't be interrupted. If you are less stressed, the person taking the call will be less stressed, and the whole process will work better.

Have any account/ticket/serial number/referral information handy. Pre-game the call in your head and think about any questions they might need to ask you, then gather the information they might need. Examples: If you're calling about something like a car or computer hardware, know the basics of make/model/age. If you're calling a financial institution or service provider, have your account number, verification information, etc. handy If you're calling a medical office you might want to have a list of medications as well as your insurance card available.

There is like a zero percent chance that your call is going to be one of the more stressful things they do that day. The call is stressful for you, it is very routine for them, and they are used to everything from getting screamed at to trying to communicate in languages they don't speak to help callers.

Also: if you have not called this place before, feel free to call it with no plans to speak to anyone just to see how the phone system works. It may be an automated phone system and you can call and pre-navigate the options and take notes for when you're ready to call back, and you may be able to find out more of what the system will ask of you. If you get picked up by a person when you're not ready you can simply say "Oh, I'm sorry, I've got another call coming in, I'll call back, thank you" and hang up.

The Script for most Adult-type phone calls is "I am having X problem and I need help fixing it," and then requests for information and someone either providing a resolution for you issue or escalating it to the next step in the process.

I don't know what it is, but for some reason, I really hate having the city inspector show up. Every time I get an improvement or repair to the house done, I always get nervous that they're going to find something wrong. This, of course, is ridiculous. I didn't do the work. Some other person, who I paid with my missing landlord's credit card, did some professional business-type things with the full expectation it would be inspected.

To make matters worse, something real creepy happened to me the other day. Soon, I would discover exactly why I had such anxiety around allowing a stranger to peer into the innermost guts of my home, and gaze upon the work performed by another.

I had to put in a new hot-water heater. This job could be done by myself, but it would involve getting slightly wet, and it was better to let my absentee landlord, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances, improve the equity he has in his house with a much-needed renovation. Besides, I was too busy out in the yard, using a chunk of tree trunk to dislodge the recalcitrant passenger-side motor mount of a 1968 Dart. That's a story for another time; you're here to hear about this Bob Vila-ass homeowner shit.

A technician showed up, riding a relatively primo-looking late-00s (I guessed 2006) Ford E-250 work van with a couple dings on the rear bumper that were evidence of an aggressive attitude towards parallel parking in the urban environment. I don't remember what she looked like. She dropped off a big hot water heater, hooked everything up, then carried the old one off slung over one shoulder. That's when things went weird.

For weeks after, my surveillance network (a bunch of deer cameras I stole from the woods) was constantly tripping with sightings of a mysterious new home invader. When I checked the photos in the morning, all I'd see in the shots were khakis, a city-coloured polo shirt, occasionally a pair of anti-slip, steel-toed low-rise sneakers. Never a clear picture of his face. He'd stick a "sorry we missed you" label to the door, and escape into the night.

When I called the city to complain that home inspections should not be done at 3 am, they told me that the inspector by that name had died long ago. I started to get really freaked out, which I guess is a common reaction, because the municipal help-line technician went on to explain.

"We're really short on staff, so we've been getting some of our inspections performed by the living dead. Keeps the pension payments down, too. Don't tell the union."

It has been a year of healing, growth and self-love. For the first time in your life, you poured all your time and energy into your own well-being. Your journey to self-healing is like an exhausting hiking trip, the climb is daunting, but the glorious views from the top make it all worth the while.

Looking back, you recognize that the dynamic between Aaron and Haley, and their extensive history, created an unhealthy environment for you. As much as it hurts to admit, there is nothing you can do to change that. You decided to remove yourself from that environment and focus on the one thing you can control: yourself. You spent the year travelling, levelling up in your professional life, and making conscious decisions to invest in your happiness. 

Aaron put all his time and energy into his job, delving deeper into his career than ever before. His relationship with Haley is now strained beyond repair. Still, he interacts maturely for Jack’s sake despite his anger and resentment. Even after the divorce, Aaron always had a special love for Haley. The calming sense of familiarity usually presented whenever they were around each other was now replaced with formal greetings and short straight-to-the-point sentences. She will always be a part of his life but no longer a welcomed guest in his heart. 

Aaron will never forgive himself for losing you, for breaking your heart, for not appreciating all he had with you. He spent the greater part of the year going over every minute detail of your relationship, anguishing over every misstep he took. His heart aches with every beat it takes without you by his side. Aaron yearns to make it right; there is not a day that goes by where he doesn’t pray for a second chance with you. He constantly dreams of being able to love on you, cherish you, and hold you tight.

Losing you made him question himself as a man and a profiler. Not a day goes by when he doesn’t feel ashamed for not seeing what was happening before his eyes. He spent hours revisiting the core principles of profiling and human behaviour. He feels lost, with no sense of direction and no desire to be found. 

Rossi has tried to set him up on a few dates, but no one comes close to you. No relationship will ever be like the one he had with you. No one can fill that void in his heart and mend its tiny pieces like you do. There is nothing he wouldn’t give for a second chance.

Jack will never forgive him or Haley for losing you. His friend, fellow dinosaur enthusiast, reading buddy, and cheerleader. Jack doesn’t verbalize his feelings, never mentions your name anymore, and he’s long since given up on asking his dad to invite you over. He understands you and his father are no longer together, but it makes him sad that he never got to say goodbye.

Jack found his own way to connect with you; he keeps a little journal and writes you letters daily. He writes about his nightmares and how his dad tucks him in and gives him a special hug so he can sleep tight. Jack asks you to come back for his next birthday and promises you a seat next to him. He never mails them, wondering who he can ask for help with that or how on Earth he would find your new house to send it to. Instead, Jack settles for pretending to mail the letters and imagining all the cool letters you would write back. He keeps his letters safely tucked away in a shoe box under his bed at his dad’s house.

It’s a quiet afternoon when Aaron comes home from work. He robotically begins his regular post-work routine: shower, put his clothes in the wash, cook for himself and Jack, and eat. Mid-meal, his mind is thinking of ways to make the rest of the day go as smoothly as possible, and he decides to look for Jack’s shin guards so they can be on time for once. 

After sifting around the boy’s room for nearly ten minutes, he looks under the bed.

He finds a shoe box he’s certain should contain the shin guards but is surprised to find a stack of papers instead. As Aaron sits on Jack’s twin-sized bed, his signature frown appears as he wonders why Jack would keep his homework in such an unusual spot.

His eyebrows shoot up, and his breath catches as he reads the same line on all of the pages: ‘Dear, Y/N’

Aaron sits in the same spot for nearly an hour, reading every last letter. He lets his tears fall freely, careful not to stain any pages. His broken heart never recovered from your breakup, and now Aaron feels the pieces of his heart shatter even further. He places all the letters neatly back in the box with shaky hands as he sits, thoughts swirling in his mind. 

He realizes he robbed his son of a friend and a wonderful role model. He regrets not speaking more with Jack about this, and half of him regrets invading his son’s privacy in this way.

The other half is overwhelmed with emotion and a tiny sliver of joy as this is Aaron’s final push over the edge. He feels compelled by every fibre of his being to find you and make this right. His mind runs a million miles a minute, devising a plan. He immediately decides against asking Garcia to track you down, but contacting you on his own will be difficult as you’ve blocked him on everything imaginable.

Aaron slowly walks to his office, hands in his pocket as he stares out the window. He decides to take a page out of Jack’s book and write you a letter, silently praying you haven’t somehow managed to block his email too. Aaron exhales and begins pouring his heart out on the screen as he types away.

You stare at your phone screen, baffled. At first, you think your mind is playing tricks on you, but the email is very much real and very much from the man your heart still yearns for. 

You don’t even bother finding a place to sit as the world around you slows and fades away. You read the entire email in Aaron’s voice. He asks to meet at a botanical garden in the city, where the two of you first met and where you often went together for clarity and peace of mind.

“Excuse me, you dropped this”

You turn around to meet the most handsome man you’ve ever seen. He’s breathtaking, tall and dark-haired but looks out of place wearing a three-piece suit and- wait, is that a Gucci tie?!

He clears his throat, and you jump a little, silently cursing yourself for staring.

“Sorry, yes, that’s mine. Thank you, sir.”

He laughs, and the sound has you nearly dissolving on the spot. “You can call me Aaron.”

“I’m Y/N. A bit overdressed, aren’t you, Aaron” you add teasingly.

He smiles, “I’m here to see a venus fly trap, actually.”

When you look at him curiously, he clarifies, “it’s for my son, it’s his latest fascination, and I want to prove to him that they are here stateside.” 

“That’s adorable! They’re actually kept on the northern side of the garden, it’s a bit of a walk from here, but I could show you. I don’t mind.” 

“As long as I can return the favour, let me get you a coffee.”

“Sure, Aaron, I’d love that” you’re a giggling, blushing mess as you walk toward your destination.

“You come here often?”

“Oh, all the time.”

“Excuse me, you gonna place an order or what?” The annoyed barista pulls you back into reality; she rolls her eyes as you fluster about, quickly giving your order and rushing to the side.

You read his email over and over again, on your way home, out on the porch, in the kitchen, on the sofa, while you brush your teeth. You’re unsure how to respond or what to think, but you can’t deny the burst of joy you got from knowing he still thinks of you and wants to see you. In your healing journey, you’ve learned to let go of things. You don’t harbour any anger or ill will towards him now, almost a year later, but the pain is still there, and you know it will hurt to see him again. You don’t answer his email.

Aaron stands in the exact spot where the two of you first locked eyes, hands in his pocket and eyes scanning the area frantically. It’s been twenty minutes already, but he’s not ready to lose hope. 

You walk in directly behind him, and as soon as you see the back of his head, the shoulders you love dearly, all that fills your heart is warmth and love. You take a deep breath and will yourself to have some decorum as you approach him. 

“Hi, Aaron.” He whips his head around, and there you are, standing to his right, so divine, radiating a sense of serenity. He almost can’t believe you’re here and nearly cries at the sight of you.

“Hi, Angel.” His voice is soft and mellow. He meant to take it slow, and pet names certainly weren’t part of the plan. But he can’t help himself; in his eyes, you are an actual angel, and your presence before him only solidifies that.

He stares at you for a full minute before rambling into another apology. You reach out to lightly touch his forearm. “Aaron, I accept your apology. I’m willing to let bygones be bygones. But it still hurts. I know it’s been almost a year, and I really thought I was over it, but seeing you today, I-” You look up at him with doe eyes. Truthfully, you have no idea what’s happening; the only thought in your mind is that you still love him.

Aaron feels his heart clench at your words. “There’s no time limit on your healing Y/N. I am sorry for asking you here today, that was selfish of me, and I should let you heal and thrive in peace.” 

You grasp onto his forearm once again. “You didn’t force me here, Aaron. I came by choice, and I wanted to see you too.” You feel embarrassed at your mixed signals. One minute you’re telling him you’re still hurt, and the next, you want to see him.

“Y/N, I am the happiest man on Earth today because you accepted my apology. Thank you for coming to see me. I am willing to do any and everything possible for even the smallest chance to have you in my life again, in any capacity. I know it’s a huge ask, I understand and respect your decision, but I’m asking you all the same, Y/N.” He’s on one knee and brings both hands to hold yours gently. 

You can tell by the look on his face that he is sincerely pleading with you. “Aaron, I don’t know if we can ever go back to how things were. It will take time, but I’m okay with us as friends.” 

He feels tears streaming down his cheeks, and you tug at his arms, motioning for him to stand.

“Thank you, Y/N, thank you. Take all the time you need, whatever you need. I am more than happy to be your friend again, Y/N.” He looks at you with a bashful smile, and you feel your cheeks heat up. You share a hug, one that conveys reconnection and love.

For the next few months, you and Aaron work to slowly rebuild the relationship. You’re in a comfortable space again, not entirely platonic but not romantic either in the physical sense. Aaron has been very respectful and accommodating of your boundaries. He wants nothing more than to kiss you all over and worship every square inch of your body to show how much he loves and misses you, but he is more than happy to keep those feelings at bay and share what you allow. 

You’ve secretly been dying to ask about Jack. Still, you’re understandably uncomfortable broaching the subject, so you’ve decided to leave the ball in his court.

Aaron wants to reunite you and Jack more than ever, but he’s afraid you only want him back in your life and nothing to do with Jack or Haley. It breaks his heart all over again, but he has no idea how to bring it up to you. 

A Snapchat memory from a year ago, where you and Jack visited an aquarium, is your last straw. You decide enough is enough, reminding yourself that avoiding uncomfortable topics is exactly how things unfolded the last time.

Later that day, you’re out for lunch with Aaron, and you ask about Jack. Aaron is shocked at your question but glad all the same. “He’s good, Y/N. He really misses you.” You give him a sad smile, and his tone tells you there’s something he’s holding back. You reach out to hold his hand, a silent cue that you’re willing to listen.

When Aaron finally tells you about the letters he found, you break down in tears, feeling lightheaded and guilty for not saying bye, leaving Jack without closure or explanation. By cutting Aaron out of your life, you also cut Jack out by proxy.

Aaron is at your side in a heartbeat, holding your hand and coaching you to breathe. He reassures you that it’s not your fault, that it was a series of unfortunate events that were out of your control, and that Jack will be more than happy to see you now.

“Before we go further, I want to clarify a few things. Jack is my son, and you are my partne- friend,” he corrects himself, offering you a shy apologetic smile.

You smile, grateful to hear his words.

“That means a lot. Thank you, Aaron. I want to speak with Haley first if that’s okay with you. She’s Jack’s mother, and I want to clear the air with her before I barge my way back into her child’s life again.”

“You’re not barging into anything, Angel. You’re always welcome here.” He says softly. “If that’s what you want, I’ll set it up, Y/N.”

Your conversation with Haley goes better than you imagined. She apologizes for her behaviour, and you clarify that you are in no way trying to replace or compete with her role in Jack’s life. The two of you end on a positive note with a mutual interest in Jack’s well-being and happiness.

“Y/N! You came! Y/N is here, guys!” Jack nearly topples you over in a hug.

“Happy Birthday Jack! My goodness, how did you grow so fast!” He giggles, dragging you to sit next to him.“Corn and lots of warm milk.”

Laughter erupts through the room, and you stare at him lovingly. When Jack proclaims this as ‘the best birthday in the world,’ you realize this is home. 

At the end of the party, Jack makes you pinky promise not to leave him again without saying goodbye. The two of you lock pinkies. “I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon, but if anything were to change, I promise to talk to you about it, Jack.” He nods enthusiastically, “because that’s what families do!” 

“That’s exactly right, Jack.” You hold him close and plant a kiss on top of his head.

Later that night, you notice Aaron acting strangely and spacing out.  

“What’s wrong, Aaron?”

“Jack called you family” you hear the slight break in his voice and see that his eyes are glazed over. You walk over to engulf him in a hug. “Is that okay with you?” he asks gently.

“You and Jack are my family, Aaron, and this is my home.” Your statement puts the last piece of Aaron’s broken heart into place, and it makes him feel whole again. 

The two of you share your first kiss again, though it’s decidedly sweeter the second time.

LEICA AND THE JEWS

The Leica is the pioneer 35mm camera. It is a German product - precise, minimalist, and utterly efficient.

Behind its worldwide acceptance as a creative tool was a family-owned, socially oriented firm that, during the Nazi era, acted with uncommon grace, generosity and modesty. E. Leitz Inc., designer and manufacturer of Germany's most famous photographic product, saved its Jews.

And Ernst Leitz II, the steely-eyed Protestant patriarch who headed the closely held firm as the Holocaust loomed across Europe , acted in such a way as to earn the title, "the photography industry's Schindler."

As soon as Adolf Hitler was named chancellor of Germany in 1933, Ernst Leitz II began receiving frantic calls from Jewish associates, asking for his help in getting them and their families out of the country. As Christians, Leitz and his family were immune to Nazi Germany's Nuremberg laws, which restricted the movement of Jews and limited their professional activities.

To help his Jewish workers and colleagues, Leitz quietly established what has become known among historians of the Holocaust as "the Leica Freedom Train," a covert means of allowing Jews to leave Germany in the guise of Leitz employees being assigned overseas.

Employees, retailers, family members, even friends of family members were "assigned" to Leitz sales offices in France, Britain, Hong Kong and the United States, Leitz's activities intensified after the Kristallnacht of November 1938, during which synagogues and Jewish shops were burned across Germany.

Before long, German "employees" were disembarking from the ocean liner Bremen at a New York pier and making their way to the Manhattan office of Leitz Inc., where executives quickly found them jobs in the photographic industry.

Each new arrival had around his or her neck the symbol of freedom - a new Leica camera.

The refugees were paid a stipend until they could find work. Out of this migration came designers, repair technicians, salespeople, marketers and writers for the photographic press.

Keeping the story quiet The "Leica Freedom Train" was at its height in 1938 and early 1939, delivering groups of refugees to New York every few weeks. Then, with the invasion of Poland on Sept. 1, 1939, Germany closed its borders.

By that time, hundreds of endangered Jews had escaped to America, thanks to the Leitzes' efforts. How did Ernst Leitz II and his staff get away with it?

Leitz, Inc. was an internationally recognized brand that reflected

credit on the newly resurgent Reich. The company produced cameras, range-finders and other optical systems for the German military. Also, the Nazi government desperately needed hard currency from abroad, and Leitz's single biggest market for optical goods was the United States.

Even so, members of the Leitz family and firm suffered for their good works. A top executive, Alfred Turk, was jailed for working to help Jews and freed only after the payment of a large bribe.

Leitz's daughter, Elsie Kuhn-Leitz, was imprisoned by the Gestapo after she was caught at the border, helping Jewish women cross into Switzerland . She eventually was freed but endured rough treatment in the course of questioning. She also fell under suspicion when she attempted to improve the living conditions of 700 to 800 Ukrainian slave laborers, all of them women, who had been assigned to work in the plant during the 1940s.

(After the war, Kuhn-Leitz received numerous honors for her humanitarian efforts, among them the Officier d'honneur des Palms Academic from France in 1965 and the Aristide Briand Medal from the European Academy in the 1970s.)

Why has no one told this story until now? According to the late Norman Lipton, a freelance writer and editor, the Leitz family wanted no publicity for its heroic efforts. Only after the last member of the Leitz family was dead did the "Leica Freedom Train" finally come to light.

It is now the subject of a book, "The Greatest Invention of the Leitz Family: The Leica Freedom Train," by Frank Dabba Smith, a California-born Rabbi currently living in England.

I always get so sad when I think about the bachelors and bachelorttes not being able to achieve their dreams :( so how do you think the game would be different if they had? like before they meet the farmer? (i love your writing by the way,,,)

While I was thinking about this, the main question in my head was “Why would any of them still be in Pelican Town if they achieved their dreams?” Sooo I had to put them through some bullshit to get them all in one place lmao. Thank you for enjoying my writing, it means... way more than any of you probably realize. Anyway, this was fun to think about, and I hope you have fun reading it! <3

Sam was the lead singer of his own band, but is now struggling to find his new normal after the members decided to go their separate ways. It certainly doesn’t help that they ended on negative terms, and their fanbase has become fractured due to the controversy surrounding the break-up. Sam has come back to Pelican Town to spend time with his family and figure out which direction he wants to take his career, but his band-mates said ill-intended things about him before they broke up, and he’s struggling to make amends with his perception of himself. He tries to write new songs, but he isn’t liking anything he’s come up with, and it’s reflecting poorly on his self-esteem. He wonders if his fans will still be there waiting once he’s ready to release his solo-music, and is paralyzed with fear about what will happen to him and his career if they aren’t.

Sebastian is a professional coder. He saved up enough money to move away as soon as he turned eighteen, and has only visited for holidays since. He was previously engaged while living in the city, but after his fiancé cheated on him with a coworker, he returned to Pelican Town to pick up the pieces of his heart. During his time away he managed to check himself into therapy, so he’s well-equipped to handle conflicts with his family, and his relationship with his mother and sister have improved dramatically since, which is really nice. He is trying his best to pursue a healthier relationship with Demetrius, but the man really doesn’t make it easy. Robin also added an extension to the house, so his room is on the ground floor and has a window now. He discovers with minimal surprise that he likes the rain in Pelican Town more than he ever did in the city. It’s nice to see the frogs again.

Alex is a professional gridball player. His mother passed away before she could see him achieve his dreams, but his father has contacted him many times. Alex knows his father doesn’t actually want a relationship with him, though, because the only times he’s contacted him is to ask for money. Alex blocks his dad’s number after catching sight of him on the news, trying to drag Alex's name through the mud, but eventually moves away when his dad breaks into his apartment and wrecks the place. He settles back into his bedroom at Evelyn and George’s house, and tries not to feel too drained by the legal proceedings. It’s pretty relaxing though, going back home during his off-season. Not to mention he really missed the summers in Pelican Town.

Elliott is a reputable author. He’s written a trilogy or two, a smattering of stand-alone novels, and even has a few broadway credits. But after years of constantly writing, he’s burnt out and tired, and needs a break, so he moves out of his stuffy apartment in the city and into the cabin on the beach. He commissions Robin for expansions and repairs, and it’s turned into quite a nice place, if he should be so bold to say so. He talks to Willy a lot, and after hearing the stories the fisherman has collected over the years, he kind of wants to write a book about pirates or some other kind of adventurer, but nothing is coming to mind. He’s got an excess of inspiration and drive, but the moment his pen hits the paper, his mind goes blank. It’s incredibly irritating.

Shane is one of the most notable film directors of the last decade, and he’s got quite a number of credits under his belt. His IMDb page is massive, and while he doesn’t get recognized on the street very often, anyone who knows anything about film will know his name. He moved to Pelican Town with Jas after the death of her parents. Riddled with grief, he had the presence of mind to recognize some bad habits were developing, and he couldn’t really handle the pressure of celebrity life anymore. He drinks occasionally, but he doesn’t consider himself an alcoholic. He only drinks a few times a week—and compared to his colleagues in the city—that’s nothing.

Harvey is an experienced pilot. He initially wanted to join the Ferngill Republic Air Force, but after many discussions with his parents, he decided to pursue an ATP certification and become an airline pilot instead. However, due to the recent trauma of a severe crash, Harvey is taking a break from flying. He’s become intensely afraid of heights, and the thought of getting in a plane makes him physically sick to his stomach. He’s been working on it, but it’s already been a year, and he’s not any closer to being back in the pilot’s chair. What’s wrong with him?

Maru went to university to pursue a career in STEM, but was quickly disillusioned and decided it wasn’t for her, so she decided to switch gears and abandon her dream school. Robin understood after a short explanation and told her to come back home, but Maru’s relationship with her father has become strained since, and even though they regularly experiment in the lab together, it causes some unnecessary drama in the household. Maru tries not to let it get to her too much, but it does. More positively though, her relationship with Sebastian has improved since they both came home, and they can actually hold a conversation without getting irritated at each other. She likes hanging out with her brother, but wishes that they could've gotten along like this as kids, too. They have a lot of years to catch up on!

Penny was a stay-at-home-mom up until a few months ago, when her partner suddenly decided domestic life wasn’t for them, and yanked the rug out from under her. With nowhere to go and no employment, she trudged back to Pelican Town with her tail between her legs and a toddler on her hip, to move back in with her mother. She teaches Vincent and Jas regularly, and works as a private tutor for a few clients in the town over. Pam chose to take on the majority of childcare for her grandchild, but she’s excelling at it and hasn’t stepped foot in the saloon in a long time. It should be a great thing, but Penny doesn’t know why she’s so bothered by it.

Abigail is an active member of the adventurer’s guild, a highly skilled swordswoman, and she will occasionally dabble with the magical forces of Stardew Valley under the careful guidance of her mentor, Rasmodius. Yes, she knows. No, she doesn’t mention it, and neither does he. She doesn’t live with her parents anymore. When she was looking to move out, she asked to buy the deed to the old farm, but was quickly shot down by Lewis, and decided instead to claim the decrepit cabin south of Rasmodius’ tower. Robin helped her fix it up, and after a few months, it was in good enough repair to move in permanently. She spends most of her days down in the mines, clearing the monsters on the lower floors. She’s never gone past level 20, if only to save herself from her mother’s tearful begging, but Pierre has given up. They don’t speak much.

Haley is a prolific photographer. Her portfolio is hefty, some photos dating back from when she was in high school, but the most recent picture is from three months ago, and she hasn’t picked up her camera since. She doesn’t know why, but nothing looks interesting enough to shoot anymore. The world looks flat and dull, but maybe that’s just the city. When her parents ask her and her sister to watch their house in Pelican Town while they galavant through the archipelago on some “soul-searching-journey,” she accepts without preamble. Maybe she just needs a change of scenery to get her inspiration back. Maybe she’ll find her muse?

Leah is a revered artist, and many of her pieces are in museums and art galleries. She tries to live in the city, but quickly realizes that she hates it, and after a few misses, she moves to Pelican Town. The lush flora and fauna kick her inspiration into overdrive, and with the amount of foraged greens she’s been eating since moving into the cabin next to Marnie’s, she doesn’t think she’s ever felt so good. Unfortunately her ex Kel is determined to sniff her out, and that puts a damper on her shiny new life in Pelican Town. She wishes it was because they actually loved her, but she knows it’s only because they miss the luxurious life Leah’s job afforded them. She tries not to think too hard about that, though.

Emily is a fashion designer! She’s had plenty of shows during different fashion weeks and other events, and many name-brands have collaborated with her. She does do stylist work on the side, and many of her clients are a-list celebrities or high profile professionals. She prefers the countryside, though, so when her parents offered her and her sister their place in Pelican Town, she jumped at the opportunity! Only thing is, it’s been years since her and Haley have occupied the same space, and every resident in town has a dark cloud of thick negative energy hovering over their heads. She’s overwhelmed with guilt, knowing she can’t do anything to help.

Duck Comic Reading Club Week 20: Paperinik New Adventures: Extraordinary Repairs

Ok, Camera, Action wasn't good, but I'm sure PK will be back on track with this issue. Let's go…

Oh God no… is Gianmarco Villa, the guy from Urk, the worst looking issue so far…

Why I have to keep suffering?

That was my actual first impression, but as I kept reading I realize that this issue looks pretty good. The problems of Urk aren't here. I apologize Mr. Villa.

The story begins with Angus reporting how PK stopped a criminal, but not in his usual way. He was a bit more profesional. That of course made everyone freak out. Angus Fangus, a professional reporter? Must be sick.

But the kiwi has a possible scoop. He knows that Everett Ducklair disappeared every now and then, and he has a way into his secret lair. His boss shutted down the idea, afraid of the legal consequence.

Here, I have to give credit to Angus, he's a jerk, but has guts.

This intrusion doesn't go unnoticed. Angus shenanigans cut Uno access to some levels, and our favorite IA sent PK to the rescue.

And here comes what I think is the best part of the story. Camera 9.

I didn't get the Camera 9 love at first, but a mysterious retired fearless photographer, you have to love him.

He saw PK and his instincts kick in. He has to follow a story when is right in front of him.

Fangus kept tapping any button in front of him and that causes some problems for PK. He was about to be crushed but he was saved last second.

Camera 9 introduced himself as Stefan Vladuck, and I'm betting my brother-in-law's arm that that's an alias. Anyway, PK now has a partner.

Meanwhile, Angus made a terrible discover.

Look, I hate Angus, but, if you find a scientific millionaire genius' secret lair full of crazy weapons, you're gonna make assumptions. Is fair to think that Everett Ducklair is planning a massive attack.

Back to PK and Stefan, they're attacked by the security system. The action in this issue is perfectly drawn. Once again, I apologize Mr. Villa.

I've seen much worse.

Please, someone tell me that there's a huge one shot about Camera 9 life.

Then, we found the greatest weapon in Everett's arsenal.

THAT'S A FREAKING MECHA T-REX!

Holy mother of God, that's so freaking amazing. PK! Take that T-Rex and go fight crime!

Angus is convinced that Everett is trying to take over the town, and his absence is a facade. And here, he turned on is fanfiction writer powers and said that Everett is PK.

Is so funny he said that Everett and PK don't look alike, while working with Donald almost everyday.

There's more PK and Stefan action against robots, and Angus finally show his face to the hero.

Why is the centaur open and with the keys?

Also, why take the centaur when you found a freaking Mecha T-Rex?

Angus runs away, and PK is done for. All Tower secret are about to told and he will be marked as a criminal.

Ja! Yeah, no way buddy, Uno has a plan.

He sent Angus to the roof, and we have one of the best PK looks ever. He looks so frightening, absolutely marvelous.

And then...

YES! YES! YES!

HE DID IT! PK HAS KILL ANGUS!

The men pray, the women cry, the kids laugh. The world is hugging. Today we're happier. Thank you PK, thank you…

Oh. It was a hologram. That works too I guess.

PK and Stefan brought Angus to the lobby and left him on a sofa. All the other Channel 00 workers found him and he proceeded to tell his story up to the moment PK throw him to his doom.

We're back to the status quo. Angus is a weird crazy that somehow is still employee (also, why's he the anchor? who though people would like to see his face?) and PK secret identity will live another day.

Or is it?

That smile while he said best friend.

Camera 9 you bastard, you're awesome.

We're so back with this issue. So full of action and with a Camera 9 who steals the spotlight. When PK is good, is really good.

Of course, we have more of Trip, son of Raider, who apparently is terrible at sports. He can't play even a few seconds.

But he has his chances to prove himself, he only needs to stop a penalty kick. Not bragging, but I'm really good at that. Anyway, Trip couldn't and instead of suck it up, he went back in time and stopped the ball. Trip is a hero.

But he's also a proud jerk, and needs to feel the glory again, but he fails. Loser again.

But turns out, Raider, who was wearing his best Marge Simpson wig, interfered with the ball, making Trip fail. Harsh but fair. I hope Trip learnt his lesson.

Grumbling that I need it to be next month already; these next two weeks are going to be agony waiting. (Not a request, just a vent 💚)

We have repair projects we want to do and work on, but it’s not in the budget for this month and it’s making me itchy.

It’s things like “fix the drip route for the AC to the drain” and “fix the blinds that the mice chewed through” and other smaller thing that we just need minor parts for. (Okay the blinds are a little bigger…)

I have to keep reminding myself that any progress is good progress, and it takes time for things to happen.

It’s hard for me to balance between saving for emergencies (we’re toast atm if something big goes down), and the want to improve the situation right now.

We’re going to have to call a professional in at some point for the sink (the connection was put in wrong and - basically it’s a professional’s job not a DIYer’s because that’s how we got here in the first place). 😂

There’s the potential for a long term positive, short term shitty thing happening with Kallen’s freelancing in June, and I’m dreading it from the last experience we had with contract negotiations.

I’m just tired of squeaking into the end of the month. I know part of it is because we’re aggressively paying down one of the credit cards. I’m just ready to be able to breathe and not have to weigh between getting the slightly fancier bratwursts and normal hot dogs. 🫣

Anyway, small projects around the house. That’s the mantra the rest of this month. Small steps, heroic results. (Kallen’s company slogan)
