Okay this might be a dumb theory, but at least hear me out!

Trigger warning!!! I mention rape in this theory, if you're sensitive to this topic (as it is quite delicate) then please read at your own risk or not at all. Okay so I was just watching Berleezy roast Dora the Explorer and when he got to the theory where Boots stole shoes from Swiper (my dumbass had look up their names) and Berleezy mentioned that when Dora and Boots said "No, swiping" or something, it made Swiper just saw "ayyy go guys" and leaves, I thought "Oh, that's cute, Nickelodeon is trying to teach kids not to steal" but then I thought about rape and how you should say no and I immediately thought "Swiper is teaching people that when people say no to rape or any sexual advance, you shouldn't proceed and Dora is teaching that it is always acceptable to say no" and I thought that was pretty cool and I'm not even sure if this is true or not.

   blessedbirdsong, I think my definition of villain was a little narrow, to be honest. When I think villain, I think mustache twirling ne'er do wells that are, along with anyone that follows them, despised by all. To use another WoW example, the Defias Brotherhood that served Edwin VanCleef, the Cult of the Damned that served the Lich King, or the Twilight’s Hammer that serve Cho’gall and the Twilight Council come to mind. Pretty objectively bad, at least in action. In the case of the Defias, they have sound reasoning, but still. Villains. I hadn’t considered the idea of someone being part of a faction that was friendly-but-not-friendly being a villain. When speaking in terms of those folk, I’m honestly a lot more confused about why someone wouldn’t want to RP as one of them.

     I’d like to see entire FCs built around the idea of supporting the Syndicate. It may be that we’d see many more people taking up the banner of the “other side” if a few people just took that first leap, you know? I feel like the way your character interacts with others should follow similar guidelines to how you build the character itself. If someone creates a villain that’s just an asshole. Straight up, I want to destroy everything and punch babies, that’s kind of boring. Having a motivator to make them seem human is important. Same for anyone that builds a character that’s a knight in shining armor, able to sniff out marijuana from miles away, and helps prevent forest fires. Depth. So important. So when faced with the idea of being a villain, and someone looks at it and says “Damn. This could be really interesting to RP, but the only interactions I’ll ever have will be negative.” That sounds so flat to me. Having a FC of players RPing for the same sketchy/bad cause allows for that depth. You RP for a while and people spit on you, kick you, call you mean things. Then you go to your FC and RP scheming with your brothers and sisters in crime. Allies. Suddenly the world feels more alive and less two dimensional. Someone just needs to get the ball rolling, I think.
