here's a rant about the pressure community

I've been kinda lurking on pressure twitter for the past few weeks while all this shit went down and i just gotta say... jesus fuck.

I practically had a heart attack as soon as i opened my phone when i woke up and saw zeal was trying to sell pressure. Considering how he changed his profile last night to a strictly corporate one and then this? It seemed like a really hasty decision, and something serious was going on with him.

And yknow what, with all the hate being directed at him right now i don't blame him one fucking bit. I'd probably end up doing the same thing if i was in his shoes. Being autistic as well, i would just want to completely distance myself from this overwhelming bullshit. I think that's why he started to distance himself from the community in the first place (which unfortunately is kinda what led to some issues getting overlooked).

The tweet was deleted and pressure isn't for sale anymore thank GOD, but I'm honestly more worried about the actual people behind pressure than the game itself.

I agree that there's issues they need to fix, but its not an entirely black and white situation, and its pretty fucking complicated. With the sheer amount of people in the community its crazy to expect them to handle and manage everything themself, especially since they blew up in popularity in such a short amount of time, how the hell would they know how to deal with this???

Yes, there are certain things they need to actually address and take responsibility for that they sort of haven't, but attacking them to where it gets to this point isn't the fucking answer.

so im bodily 15 atm, and i have cptsd. when i look at posts regarding certain cluster b experiences (possibly some cluster c aswell) i relate a LOT (obviously im not saying that bc i relate that i have these disorders, i just kinda have a feeling that *something* is going on). its tricky bc i keep looking into things and i cant really find an answer. i also dont know if im too young and that its just because im a teenager.

i wont get into like what “symptoms” i experience rn bc i feel like thats a whole other conversation but yeah.

i hope i dont sound like one of those people that are like “i must have x bc i related to a silly video i saw” im just really confused and i feel like something aint right

i know you’re probably not professionals so feel free to delete or ignore this if its too much, but if not, what do you think?

So, here's the thing (and we will attempt to avoid being patronizing): It is absolutely correct that your age and emotional/psychological development can affect things, and that the process of development can cause things that look like mild symptoms. It's also correct that that combined with c-ptsd (and any other disorders you may have; you'd be surprised how many symptoms and comorbidities autism, ADHD, NPD, and BPD all share) can make it extremely hard to determine where your symptoms are coming from and whether there might be something more.

(You're also correct that we are not professionals; this is all coming from our own research and personal experiences, so as with everything, take this with a grain of salt.)

However. I would argue that it would be far more harmful to deny any possibility of having a personality disorder until you reach some arbitrary age threshold than it would be to say that you do have a PD. Especially if looking at your life experiences through the lens of having a PD is helpful, and if resources for pw/[x]PDs are helpful to you. Even if you don't end up having a PD, that doesn't mean you were just a hormonal stupid teenager refusing to listen to the Adults™ or whatever the fuck--it means that you looked at your experiences, found something that seemed similar, and it turned out that you were wrong; but hopefully, along the way, you found things that were helpful.

Under the assumption that you have done a lot of research, I would personally recommend saying that you have traits of a particular disorder as opposed to saying you have the full disorder, and that is to two ends: one, a lot of adults with PDs (especially in ASPD spaces, if that's one of the disorders you're looking at) will kick your shit to hell and back if you even insinuate that you think you may have the full disorder (which I think is extremely counterintuitive if we want teenagers to understand their experiences and, yknow, not develop a full-blown personality disorder, regardless of whether you think teenagers can have a full personality disorder); and two, it might help you target the specific symptoms that you're experiencing without saddling you with the belief[/knowledge] that you have an incredibly stigmatized and lifelong disorder.

A lot of this stuff depends on a few things: (A) what your symptoms are (and if they can be better explained by other things, especially other things you know you have); (B) how severe your symptoms are (like the difference between being generally grouchy versus being actively hostile); and (C) how long your symptoms have lasted (if they only started popping up in the past few months or the past year versus if you've had them for years and years).

If you end up not having a personality disorder, anon, I think it will still be better for you in the long run to explore the possibility instead of shrugging it off under the excuse that you're "too young". It could turn out that you never had the disorder and it really was something else, it could turn out that you have traits but not the full disorder, or, hell, it could turn out that, by using resources and support you found by being part of communities surrounding PDs, you ended up not developing the full PD (even if you may still have a few traits)--because, at this age, you are still developing, and you are changing a lot, and very little is set in stone when it comes to these types of things--and you should absolutely take advantage of that! And even then, speaking from a more selfish perspective, it will never be a bad thing for more people to understand what it may be like to have a personality disorder.

For a bit of actionable advice on determining whether or not you may have one, though:

(1) Do your research. Obviously it's great that you're getting information from people with the disorders themselves by looking at PD communities; however, not everything having to do with the disorder will be talked about, and quite honestly, Tumblr is a terrible place to find definitive information on the PDs. Life experience? Yes. Actual information looking at how the disorders work and what they can entail in full? Ehhh, not quite. Look at a variety of academic sources, but in the same vein, keep your wits about you--professionals aren't immune to ableism, and may often perpetuate it with glee. Some of it may be obvious, some of it might not be.

(2) Keep an eye on your symptoms--make a manual check against the actual criteria every once in a while (but keep in mind that the DSM is also deeply flawed and biased); @shitborderlinesdo has a ton of checklists based on the DSM and individual testimony that can help. We first started questioning ASPD when we were 14, and we'd do those kinds of manual checks once every several months or once a year or so. It both helps you understand what your symptoms are, and helps you keep track of how you're doing over time. Don't use online quizzes for this; quite honestly, they're not really good for anything except validation if you know you'll get a high score.

(3) Look at stuff other than personality disorders, too, and try to figure out why your interest skews towards specific disorders. For a long ass time, we believed we had StPD and did our absolute best to ignore any information to the contrary, because (due to our symptoms) if it wasn't StPD, the only thing it could be otherwise was schizophrenia, and we were scared shitless of the idea; at first because we were scared of the idea that our symptoms might've been so severe, but eventually because we were afraid to admit that we were wrong. (As I've said before, no shame in being wrong--do as I say, not as I do.)

Ultimately, I can't stop you from doing anything, and I can't force you to do anything either. I'm just a mentally ill guy with an internet connection. My life experiences have led me to this conclusion, and others may disagree with it--that's perfectly fine. Again, I am not a professional. You know yourself and your experiences the best, and I think by this point, you have enough understanding of yourself and the world to be able to figure out what'll be best for you and your health, given that you have the proper resources to do so. You are a being with life experience, even if it's less than others may have; you aren't a rock, and you aren't a three year old who still hasn't realized that touching the lit stove will equal a burned finger. I personally think that the way a lot of folks go about talking to and about teenagers who think they may have personality disorders is, frankly, infantilizing and invalidating, and it just ends up with traumatized and unsupported teenagers turning into traumatized and unsupported adults, with the added bonus of an extra helping of imposter syndrome to top it all off.

Shinning light on Epel's character, he does indeed feel conflicted. He fears Cloche's paranoia and vulnerability after the incident is what made them to be closer. If that's the case then he hates it. Dont get me wrong now Epel's the kind who "fell first and fell harder" but he wants to be sure that his Relationship with Cloche even as friends is genuine. He wants to be sure that the closeness Cloche develops with him is not related to her incident even in the slightest. While he still sees glimpses of OG Cloche with how she responds it still makes him uneasy with how he got closer to her in a few months then he could in a year. He knows Cloche doesn't like him back. The way she looks at his vice housewarden with love in her eyes, he wishes he could be that person. (Dont be jealous of that wannabe Dora 🫶)

But he knows he'll never be. But that doesnt mean he wants to cut all ties with Cloche. She is still special to him. He can move on but he knows that wont be the case for a good while but till then he'll be there for Cloche in her time of need when rook is ojt for internships.

Now thats enough angst on my side since now i just feel bad 😭

Going straight for the angst path I see- Not that I’m complaining- I’m all for it!

Waiting for Cloche’ epiphany arc to come, when she finally realizes she shouldn’t have taken Epel and his feelings for granted when he’s gone for good. Before the incident, Cloche would have known about Epel’s one-sided affections for her (at some point), but she’s more confused why he would like her. With that, if Epel ever confronts SY!Cloche to set things straight or were vocal about missing the old Cloche, she’d feel upset and lost.

As the person experiencing the changes, Cloche views the new development as growth. OG!Cloche was distant, always trying to not be a burden, and now she’s opening up her heart to rely on others willingly. Cloche, herself, didin’t think the incident changed her, but was an excuse for her to act upon the fears she already had. How Cloche sees herself vs how Epel sees her, would make for an interesting conflict of misunderstandings. Since Epel wants to be there for Cloche, he probably wouldn’t voice his personal conflicts, and Cloche is too prideful to open up any more.

The few remnants of OG!Cloche that Epel can find, is mostly her uncaring, “so be it” attitude. Despite having been there for her for so long, he’s still bitter that a simple “Salut” from Rook on Magicam is enough to make her …smile. (Barely. The corners of her mouth can tilt up by 1mm, I guess.)

When SY!Cloche does feel better, she wouldn’t apologize to Epel, but more so give a word of acknowledgement. She’d drop the bomb out of nowhere, when they’re just alone, without any warnings at all. And ofc, in OG!Cloche fashion, it’d be hella dry but gets the point across. She is chewing on her pride (she cannot swallow it completely.)

TERFs have more in common with white supremacists than many of them want to admit. trying to root out trans women based on skull shape and size, the size of bones, random features, etc is literally the same thing as racists picking apart the features of jewish ppl and poc. its going to be used to hurt jewish women and women of color because that’s what its designed to do. TERF’s ideas of womanhood are about thin, conventionally attractive, white western ideals of womanhood--thin, hairless except for long hair on your head, soft features, quiet, demure, etc. it isnt a mystery why more and more high profile TERFs are allying themselves with literal nazis. its because they buy into very similar ideologies of biological essentialism and white western values. and their hatred of trans people is a disease which consumes their identities and leads them to forgo all other social issues they used to care about--gender equality, abortion access, equal pay, etc etc to instead ally themselves with other hate groups who will help them attack a common enemy.

and TERFs also fail to realize that when trans people are all “gone” those groups will attack them next. hell, they probably wont even wait until we’re gone. the second they get out of the public eye nazis will begin insulting, demeaning, and attacking them. because the ideology of hate doesnt have true allyship or truces, and it doesn’t stop. nazis will help them attack trans women, and then they’ll go for gay people, and then they will go for interracial marriage, and then they’ll attack all poc and try to remove them from society, and then they will start attacking ethnicity who havent always been white, and then they will start inventing more groups to attack. hatred never stops, it can only consume be it your identity or the very fabric of society.

i say this because there are quite a number of TERFs being like “why are several high profile TERFs allying with nazis???? its so bad for our optics!!” but the reason is bc its a very short jump from extreme hatred of trans people and TERF ideology to full blown nazis. all it takes is the hatred consuming you to the point you drop all pretense of the fucking F in that acronym.

You are probably young. Very young, somewhere between 13 and 15, right? So I understand why you would think this is appropriate behavior, you're still learning how the world works. However, it's far from okay to do this. Making one "mistake" and then having a full blown meltdown threatening to leave the site and all your friends just because you're a """horrible person""" is guilt tripping and generally very unkind. You aren't intending to hurt anyone and I'm sure you genuinely do believe the things you are saying, however all that's happening is that you're stressing your friends out over something that likely won't even happen, and telling them that they can't tell you when you ARE doing something wrong because they won't want to upset you. You'll be back within days, if not hours, I'm sure. Again, you're probably young so it's no wonder that you think you'll feel this way long enough to actually do as you intend. You wont, I promise, you'll be over it within a few hours if you just let yourself let it go. You don't hate yourself, you're simply experiencing the wild emotions that someone your (assumed) age would

Oh my God Blood Brothers was wonderful! It gave me terribly conflicting emotions - I don't know if I should be happy that Hunter and Spider now have each other or disgusted by all this manipulation by Quaritch.

My heart sank when Spider cut his hair and burned the bracelets - he was definitely broken very badly. However, Hunter and his thoughts about the adoptive family also touched me deeply.

I keep imagining Hynter with glasses, they somehow suit his image (also I see him as Lucas Jade Zumman in blue eyes lol). And I wonder what books Quaritch bought him? Are these typical children's adventure stories, comics or school books? So originally I was thinking about writing Hunter with glasses because babies born premature can have eyesight issues. I had the idea of Hunter knowing he needs glasses but his adoptive mom wont let him wear them because she doesn't like how he looks in them. I was still toying with that idea when I started writing the fic and that's part of the reason I had that little line about Hunter being a bad student. My thought was that he's bad in school because he can't see the board (and has A.D.H.D but less hyperactive more things just go in one ear and out the other) I left all that out though because Blood Brothers was getting really long. In my opinion one shots should be in the 1,000-3,000 word range and Blood Brothers was over 9,000. Which was longer then the original Cabin in the Woods by like 3,000 words 😅 So yeah I had to draw the line somewhere or else I would have written a book (like I'm doing right now with Cabin lol)

As for the books Quaritch got Hunter I imagine he got him a lot of educational books on nature and wilderness survival, some age appropriate fantasy/adventure novels like Percy Jackson, The Spiderwick Chronicles, that kind of thing, and books on interests Hunter might have. I had the idea of Quaritch giving Hunter a book on Morse code and the boys both learning it to tap out messages to each other once they got put in separate rooms but again, I had to draw the line somewhere.

And I know I'm about to sound like a broken record lol, but yeah I did plan on Lyle and Z to make an appearance maybe visiting for Halloween or Hunter's birthday which in my head is like a week after the tree climbing incident but again the fic was getting way to long so I tabled that idea. I'm totally willing to write more for this au though. But probably just ficlets on request and not full blown oneshots/ chapters to Blood Brothers.
