My Sonic movie pitch (aka mandatory bad fan fiction post)
So my Sally/Robotnik redesigns have been making he rounds lately so I figured I’d post this. I came up with the idea for a Sonic movie YEARS ago, when I never thought there would be one. It was a creative exercise. It was silly fun.
So here, enjoy my nonsense:
Sonic the Movie:
The film opens with an explanation of the Chaos Emeralds. They don’t know where they came from but they possess tremendous amounts of power. They have been sought after for millennia but most are now hidden. The explanation is given by Sally Acorn to her young ward, Miles Prower. As Sally completes her lesson, she sends Miles on his way as she goes into a shrine and we see that it houses a Chaos Emerald.
An explosion grabs Sally’s attention as she runs out to see that her village, Knothole of the Green Hill Zone, has been invaded by robots. A small ship lowers and we meet Fang the Sniper, a bounty hunter hired to gather the six Chaos Emeralds from South Island. Sally denies their existence but he reveals he already has five. Miles attempts to fight off Fang but he is captured. Sally agrees to give Fang the Emerald in exchange for Miles. They trade but Fang attempts to shot them still. But the bullet is caught by SONIC!
Sonic quickly takes out the robots and teases Fang, pointing out his real name, Nack the Weasel. Fang calls in for backup and several robots come to fight Sonic. Sally uses the distraction to try and get back the Emerald but Miles gets in the way again and Fang throws him from the hill. Sonic catches Miles and grabs Sally as they run from a several robots with rockets. Sonic hides the other two and pulls out a Ring. As the robots catch up, Sonic uses the Ring the temporarily enhance his powers, allowing him to instantly destroy the robots and go after Fang. But the effects of the Ring wear off and Fang gets away with the Chaos Emerald and several prisoners.
Sally is amazed as Sonic’s abilities. Sonic explains he’s just always been fast. Sally believes that his speed comes form Chaos Energy but she has never seen it connected to a living being before. Miles asks about the Ring. Sonic explains that it gathers energy as he runs. When it is fully charged, he can get a temporary boost of Chaos Energy.
Sally explains that they must get the Emeralds back. Sonic, at first, isn’t interested. He was just passing by when he saw the commotion and decided to help. Now that they are out of immediate danger, he will move on. Sally convinces him that, whoever is gathering the Emeralds using such force cannot be up to any good.
In the Metropolis Zone on West Side Island, Dr. Ivo Robotnik is meeting with the President. Robotnik is the head of the Electronic Global Group, a robotics company that has brought humanity into the future. He explains that his robots run on the Chaos Drives that his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik designed. Ivo wants access to the rest of the Classified records that his grandfather worked on to expand his research. The President denies his request, stating that Professor Robotnik’s work was deemed too dangerous.
Robotnik returns to his base to meet with his assistant, Julian Snively. We learn although Robotnik wanted the records, what he was really after was the final Chaos Emerald that the Guardian Unit of Nations had locked up. Snively reports that, fortunately, the bounty hunter was on his way back with the other Emeralds as they speak. Robotnik smiles and says that then they will fall to plan B and tells Snively to prepare the ship
Sonic and Sally are following the trail as they go through the Marble Zone. Sonic asks why Sally is so sure that the Emeralds would be used for evil. Sally notes that this was a civilization that had worshiped Chaos, a deity connected to the Chaos Emeralds, long ago. They had attempted to gather the Emeralds in order to summon forth the being, but the Emeralds were too much to contain. A power had to be created to counteract their power, but even that was too great and it was lost to the heavens. In the end, the civilization was destroyed by their own hubris. They arrive at a long bridge connecting the islands in the Mobius Archipelago. Unbeknownst to Sonic and Sally, they are being followed by a mysterious figure.
The E.G.G. Armarda arrives back in Metropolis Zone and Fang presents Robotnik with the six Emeralds, each contained in a separate dampening device, meant to contain their power when in close proximity. Robotnik thanks Fang for his assistance and gives him his full payment. But he offers him a bonus if he assists with an experiment. Fang, greedy, agrees. Robotnik has Fang step onto a platform and tells him to relax. Before he can react, he is caught in a small chamber with a green glow above him. Robotnik explains that, some time ago, he discovered an idea to turn organic flesh into robotic parts in an attempt to stave off death due to injury or sickness. It had, unfortunately, the side effect of turning them into motionless statues. Robotnik had perfected this Robotization tech so that the robots could not only move, but would obey orders. Fang is Roboticized. Satisfied with the results, the rest of the animals Fang captured and loaded into the Roboticizer. He sends them on a shuttle to his “secret project”.
All over Metropolis Zone, Robotnik’s image appears on screens. He declares himself Dictator of a new world: a world of machines. All the robots that fill the city suddenly turn on the citizens, gathering them up to be roboticized. Military robots turn on the GUN and grab the last Emerald, bringing it to Robotnik. As they travel to his tower, Sonic arrives and takes them out. Becoming aware of the interference and that Sonic has the Emerald, Robotnik issues Priority One: Hedgehog. The robots, however, were not designed to take on something so small and fast. Robotnik, always planning ahead, falls back to Plan C. He launches a large scorpion-like robot to distract Sonic while he and Snively make a tactical retreat in the ship It looks as though the robot might be too much but suddenly, Miles arrives, spinning his two tails like a helicopter, to save Sonic from falling. Sonic, rechristening Miles as “Tails”, has him lift Sonic high so he can build enough momentum to break through the armor. Together, Sonic and Tails take out the robot. Sally chastises Tails for following but Sonic points out that Tails saved his life.
Sonic is declared a hero but many are still captured by Robotnik. Sonic says it shouldn’t matter, since they have the last Emerald. Sally reveals that the seventh isn’t the last one. That there is one more Emerald. It was the power created to counteract the seven Chaos: the Master Emerald. Its power alone is greater than that of the other Emeralds. It is kept safe, high above the Earth and guarded by the Echidna tribe that live there. Sally states that they must get to Angel Island before Robotnik is able to find the island and take the Emerald. The GUN reveal that all their planes relied on E.G.G. tech and they have no way to chase. Tails reveals that he knows how to fly a plane if they have one. GUN give them an old run down by plane that, with Sonic’s help, Tails is able to get running again.
On Angel Island, the ship lands and Robotnik emerges. He is immediately beset by a shadowy figure who insists that they are surrounded and wants to know why they are there. Robotnik, calling himself Ovi Kintobor, states that he is a scientist that has come to study the Island, amazed by its ability to float. He warns the figure that there are others probably coming too: jewel thieves who may want to loot the island. The figure thanks Robotnik and let’s him go to study. As soon as the figure is gone, Badniks emerge to begin gathering resources and hunt for the Emerald.
Sonic, Tails and Sally arrive on Angel Island via the Tornado. Sonic says he will go to scout ahead and is off before Sally can tell him to wait for her as she “knows the guardian”. As Sonic runs, he is attacked by Knuckles the Echidna. Knuckles finds the Chaos Emerald and declares Sonic the thief he was warned about. The two fight, Knuckles proving to be as strong as Sonic is fast. But his knowledge of the island gives Knuckles the upperhand until Sally and Tails catch up. Knuckles, recognizing Sally from when she came to the Island as a child to learn as part of her training to be a Guardian of the Chaos Emeralds, lets Sonic go and listens to Sally. Realizing that he has been duped, Knuckles goes after Robotnik, with Sonic and Tails hot on his heals. Sally, being left behind, waits for a moment before Sonic doubles back, grabs her and goes back after Knuckles.
The trio arrive at the Hidden Palace Zone, where Sally stops and stares at a mural. It depicts a small, golden figure, surrounded by the Seven in a ring, fighting against a large round figure with a large gem between them. She wonders quietly if, perhaps, the right person uses the Emeralds, something good could happen. She does not have time to ponder long as an explosion brings them into the Shrine of the Master Emerald, where Robotnik has already removed the Emerald and is taking it back to the ship. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sally all attack and while they do well against the robots, Tails gets over eager and attempts an attack on Robotnik directly. He is zapped and falls unconscious. As Sonic and Sally go to tend him, Robotnik makes an escape. Sally tells Sonic to go with Knuckles after Robotnik. He is about to pull out the Ring but Sally says not yet: she thinks he should save it. She tells him that, when the time is right, to try to control the Chaos.
Sonic and Knuckles chase Robotnik through the Sky Sanctuary and onto his ship. They watch as the ship leaves the atmosphere and heads to a large, round space station. From the ship wide coms, they hear “Welcome to the Death Egg”.
Onboard the Death Egg, Sonic and Knuckles try to stealth through. They discover that the space station has been built by roboticized animals, slaves to Robotnik’s will. When the Emeralds are loaded into the reactor, the Death Egg will become a weapon capable of conquering Earth. The Nations will either surrender to Robotnik or be Roboticized. Robotnik has loaded the Emeralds into the weapons system and, to demonstrate his power, Roboticizes a small city and renames it Robotropolis. Before he can do any more damage, Sonic and Knuckles arrive and fight him and Snively. At first, Robotnik seems to have the upper hand but Sonic and Knuckles start to turn the tide. Seeing failure as an option, Snively announces he has a plan D: RUN!. Robotnik, desperate to beat the two rodents, fires Roboticizer rays at them, only to hit himself in the arm. The rays damage the Death Egg and it begins to overload. Pieces of the station fall and land on Knuckles, hurting his legs. Robotnik, admits a temporary defeat but grabs the Master Emerald and runs. Sonic helps Knuckles and tells him to get to the escape pods and run.
Alone in the core of the Death Egg, Sonic pulls out his Emerald. It is vibrating wildly. He holds it up and it begins to float. The other six Emeralds, left by Robotnik, vibrate as well despite the dampeners. The containers explode and all seven Emeralds float around Sonic. He stares at them and feels another vibration: his Ring. He pulls it out and sees it glowing like the Seven. He lets the Ring go and it floats up above him, the center of the Emeralds. In the background, there is a countdown timer before the Death Egg explodes. With moments to spare, Sonic reaches forward and grabs the Ring.
The Death Egg explodes. Knuckles sees it from the escape pod. A recovering Tails and Sally see it from Angel Island, which is slowly falling into the ocean. Robotnik and Snively, aboard their ship, watch. Robotnik examines his new robotic arm, which he covers with a sleeve. A moment later, Snively reports something on radar is coming up fast. Robotnik dismisses it as debris but Snivley states it is moving faster than the debris. They bring up the camera to see SUPER SONIC coming up fast.
Robotnik orders all weapons fired at Super Sonic but he is too powerful. Snively runs again, much to Robotnik’s annoyance. As Super Sonic tears through the ship, Robotnik grabs the Master Emerald and, using his robotic arm, uses parts from the ship to create an impromptu mech suit around his personal aircraft (the E.G.G Mobile) . Super Sonic arrives and they have a final confrontation. After a few close calls, Super Sonic is able to, at last, rest the Master Emerald from Robotnik and send him falling to Earth in his E.G.G. Mobile.
Super Sonic returns to Earth with the Master Emerald but he is finding it hard to sustain the Super form so close to the Master. Fortunately, Tails arrives on the plane with Sally and Knuckles. They return the Master Emerald to Angel Island before it sinks into the ocean. The Chaos Emeralds are rescattered and although Sonic remains a sort of vagrant, he makes a home base at Knothole.
The End
POST CREDITS: Robotnik arrives in Robotropolis, greeted by Snively and their roboticized servants. Robotnik abuses Snively for abandoning him twice but Snively reveals that, during the original attempted coup, although the military robots hadn’t gotten them the Emerald, they did get something else: Professor Gerald Robotnik’s files. Up on the main monitor, it displays “PROJECT: SHADOW”

ik rick has a lot of problems with his representation that should be rightfully pointed out but at the same time i see the shit jk rowling spews and honestly i feel a little grateful that he isnt... that. and thats kinda pathetic tbh
I’ve never had any high expectations of white authors. If they provide something good, I’m pleasantly surprised. If they tokenise or harm or be just plain stupid I’m not surprised. If a rich white woman victimizes herself and uses her womanhood as an excuse to go after other marginalized communities, I’m not surprised. If an educated white man who teaches and writes for a living fails to even do a little google search before capitalizing and profiting off other cultures and experiences, I’m not surprised. It comes with the territory. It’s expected. I’m neither let down by one or grateful for the other. I’m just watching patterns unfold and keeping my eyes opened just in case someone decides to actually break them.
