Like many of his fellow Latin American leaders, Uruguay’s new president-elect is left-wing. But Yamandu Orsi, who narrowly won a runoff election on Sunday, stands out in at least one way: He has never attacked Israel.
Gustavo Petro in Colombia, Gabriel Boric in Chile, and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil are all vehement critics of Israel; some have broken diplomatic ties with Israel over its war in Gaza. Jose “Pepe” Mujica, Uruguay’s former president and Orsi’s mentor, is also a harsh Israel critic.
Orsi, by contrast, expressed admiration for Israel’s multicultural society after visiting last year and reiterated those sentiments this month, shortly before the election, even suggesting that he could self-identify as a Zionist. He says he supports Israel’s right to exist while also backing calls for a Palestinian state.
“On the boulevard you see people of both faiths,” Orsi told an interviewer from the Jewish community in September 2023 in Tel Aviv. “That is what surprises me the most, honestly. There is a part of the reality here that is more about coexistence than the other. So it is possible.”
Orsi was on a trip organized by the Central Israelite Committee of Uruguay and the Latin American Jewish Congress, traveling with officials from those Jewish groups on an itinerary focused on science and innovation. Orsi, then mayor of Uruguay’s Canalones region, also visited major tourist attractions including Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial.
“I am a history teacher and I have taught classes on the Second World War and the impact of the Holocaust,” Orsi said in a second interview upon his return. “The guide showed us and gave us details of aspects that I frankly did not know and that, naturally, shocked me.”
Orsi faced criticism from pro-Palestinian leftists within his coalition, the Broad Front, for visiting Israel in a trip that came just weeks before Hamas attacked on Oct. 7, 2023, launching the ongoing war in Gaza. He also drew some criticism from pro-Israel Uruguayans for a tweet he posted while there that highlighted the income gaps between Israelis and Palestinians in Gaza.
“My strategy is dialogue. I can understand that they want to impose vetoes or … a kind of ideological purity of my actions,” Orsi told the interviewer about the left-wing critics. “Clearly, it is not my path. Dialogue and peace, peace and dialogue — I will not give up on that, nor on the freedom to express one’s opinion.”
Orsi’s campaign focused on the environment and the economy, and Israel was not a prominent part of the election discourse. But he discussed Israel at length just before the runoff election on air with a prominent Uruguayan radio personality.
The interviewer, Orlando Petinatti, is Jewish and pro-Israel; his show, “Bad Thoughts,” has aired since 1991 and is the most popular Uruguayan radio program. Orsi signaled that he agreed with Petinatti’s assertion that there is “no apartheid” in Israel, recalling how he watched Arab players on the Israeli team that Uruguay defeated in a game during his trip.
Orsi also said he would call himself a Zionist if the definition is as Petinatti articulated it: “in favor of the Jewish people having a state in the land of Israel.” Orsi added that that would need to come along with provisions granting equal rights to religious minorities.
“I like Zionism ,and also like the Palestinian cause to have a state,” he said. “Having said that, I’m in favor of Israel’s right to exist but I’m not always agreeing with the actions of the Israeli government.”
Uruguay is home to about 15,000 Jews, according to the Latin American Jewish Congress, out of a total population of 3.4 million. (While most live in the capital of Montevideo, there is also a burgeoning Jewish community in the coastal city of Punta del Este.) It was the first South American country to officially recognize the state of Israel and was home to the first Israeli embassy in Latin America, established in 1948, the year of Israel’s founding.
Orsi’s term begins in March and lasts five years. He replaces a center-right politician who represented the only break in the Broad Front’s leadership dating back to 2005.
Uruguay is considered Latin America’s most stable democracy; voting is mandatory and 90% of eligible voters cast ballots in each round of this year’s election. Its neighbor to the west, Argentina, is the largest country in the region with a right-wing president; Javier Milei is vociferously pro-Israel and is reshaping his country’s foreign policy after a period of left-wing leadership, with the goal of bringing Argentina closer to the United States and Israel.
Paraguay, to Argentina’s north, also has a right-wing and pro-Israel president. Santiago Pena, elected last year, is in the process of moving his country’s embassy back to Jerusalem after his predecessor, a liberal, moved it to Tel Aviv, prompting a diplomatic crisis. Pena plans to visit Israel next week to rededicate the Jerusalem embassy.

bless us with your ekky thoughts please and thank you 😌
EKKYYYY my terrible son. my horrible son who hates and bites me
First impression
my first impression of ekky was literally like the comic that's like "awww how cute! OH! he's a little bit fucked up actually!" i saw like. pictures of him and then i actually saw him committing atrocities and i was like wow... a princess who bites. i can get into this
Impression now
more than probably anyone else ekky's whole deal is SO FUNNY to me. because like. he has a terrible personality actually in many ways. he's SO competitive like WILDLY competitive which is saying something because he literally works at the competitive guy factory. not letting your two year old brother win at things to "teach him to appreciate winning more later" is CRAZYYY. he is pouty and insane and a little bit evil but in a fun and silly way. he has bitten before and he will bite again, gladly. and he does all this while looking like a disney prince with those bright pink kissable lips. the way that he made himself a hockey player out of sheer force of will is so fascinating to me like the fact that he will readily admit that he was not good at hockey at all until he was like, 16 but he just worked and worked at it and now he's the guy you want on the ice when you need someone to go unbridled beast mode... in many ways so much more interesting than someone who has heaps of natural talent. descended from a Vibes Guy and becoming his own special brand of Vibes Guy but the Vibes in question are kind of scary? he's my favorite teen mom <3
Favorite moment
this video where he's like. genuinely pissy and mad about his brother "letting their dad win" like bro you are beefing with a teenager 😭😭😭 i don't even speak swedish and i can tell he's mad. something so wrong with him
Idea for a story
the funniest thing about the san jose barracuda is that fundamentally they are just a bunch of coworkers which is true about all hockey teams but the cuda have a vibe that would translate really well to like, an actual job which a lot of teams don't. but i simply think they should all work at a restaurant together complete with the insane interpersonal sexual politics of working at a restaurant. vanderpump cuda ekky is stassi. this has just devolved into saying words but the restaurant idea is so real and true to me. ekky would love unfettered access to a bar soda gun
Unpopular opinion
maybe only unpopular to the sharks front office but give my man a contract. a big one. full time. run him his check. let him bite at the pro level. come on.
Favorite relationship
him and bordy for sure because narratively there is some crazyyy stuff happening there like the previously mentioned "they're destined to play together" and the way that they are both nepo babies but in different ways... fascinating. the alex holtz relationship is also up there tho because like... it could be very "you're the star and i'm just your weird friend" but ekky is like yes i am the weird friend. what about it. the weird friend can control their own narrative.
Favorite headcanon
i think he is, like many of us, a little treat girlie. like he needs a little beverage and a snack to get him through the horrors. you know how it is

Carlos and Jose show up on Ridonculous Race after how much success Alejandro had on Total Drama.
Instead of the Stepbros, we get those two clowns trying to copy their baby brother's success even though one of them is a pro soccer player.
BTW, since Jose wears purple/blue and Alejandro wears red, what color do you think Carlos wears? Green?
Oh, god, could you imagine how annoyed Alejandro would be seeing that? But also maybe a little smug because he's the "baby" and now his older brothers are apparently jealous enough that they have to go on a reality show to "compete" with him in that regard.
I think the general headcanon in the fandom is that Carlos wears green. And now you know that someone would call them "Huey, Dewey, and Louie" if they saw all three of the brothers together. And that person would probably be Duncan.

INTRODUCING.
(niko terho, 27, he/him, cis man) — hey, that’s KALLE 'KAL' LEHTO ! did you know they’ve been living in golden view for TWO YEARS ? i heard they’re an ASSISTANT PRO ATHLETIC TRAINER and often hang out at FRANGIPANE. people say they’re EASY GOING, but also INDULGENT. they live in apartment 14c and are currently NOT LOOKING for ONE roommate ROOMMATES WITH QUINN MCKENNA. they really remind me of… unruly curls bouncing with movement, early morning workouts to start the day, the sound of athletic tape coming off the roll, & singing in the shower. — ©
ABOUT.
tldr; kal was born to barbadian artist and finnish hockey player, grew up bouncing between the US and finland. he played hockey growing up and thought he was going pro until injuries playing college hockey got the best of him. instead, he got his masters' in sports medicine after finishing undergrad. he spent one year serving as assistant athletic trainer at university of michigan, before getting an assistant athletic trainer position with the san jose barracuda where he has now worked for three years.
— kalle lehto was globe trotting long before he was even born : conceived in bridgetown, barbados, spending much of the nine months in his mother's belly in the united states, before finally being born in rauma, finland. as for his parents : it'd been love at first sight between a talented barbadian mural artist adanna and a finnish hockey player arvo lehto, and the rest as they say, is history. they had kal rather young, but the young couple were more than up for the challenge.
— much of his childhood years where in finland, summers in barbados visiting family on his mother's side, looking for some stability in their lives as his father entered the nhl. somewhere around age 11, they moved more permanently to the united states, following his father whose career had stabilized at this point with the panthers.
— they spent a good few years in the outskirts of miami, before they moved north to boston when kal was 15, again following the trajectory of his father's path.
— kal took all this moving in stride, and maybe it was a little cool to grow up in and out of nhl dressing rooms. through this semi-tumultuous period of growing up, sports were the one thing that kept kal grounded outside of family. they helped him make friends, establish a place for him, and growing up playing pond hockey in finland, it brought many fond memories. and kal was good at it.
— he was recruited to play at the university of michigan, where he played, studied movement science at the school of kinesiology, and flirted with the idea of going pro one day just like his father. it wasn't so much of a pipe dream as a potential reality : drafted in the second round of his draft year, and recruited to UM. however, pro dreams ground to a halt in his junior and senior year, when injuries plagued and sidelined him, even despite the efforts of trainers and his own education. some things aren't meant to be and that's okay.
— the door was far from closed. kal ended up applying to the graduate sports med program at UM his senior year, keeping his options open and ultimately going that route. he knew if he were to go a trainer's route, that he wanted it to be in the hockey sphere and this afforded him the ability to do so. he received his nata certification not long after graduation.
— the summer after his graduate program, he was lucky enough to be given an assistant position with team finland at the ii.hf world championships ( maybe a little bit of nepotism was involved but we don't talk about it ). that summer, while he applied to a few positions, none were willing to hire and he ended up back in UM, filling a trainer role for the men's hockey team there.
— part way through the season, he heard through connections about a potential opening with the ahl san jose barrac.uda, and was always in conversations with management there before the opening was even posted. his initiative paid off, and by the time the next summer hit, he was given an assistant athletic trainer position with the san jose barrac.uda, as much a stepping stone to the nhl as it is for players.
PRESENT DAY.
— kal just wrapped up his third season with the san jose barrac.uda ( ahl affiliate to the san jose sh.arks ), serving as their assistant athletic trainer. however, he has only been living at mit heights and golden view for two years. however, he definitely visited mit heights frequently in his first year !! while summers are usually spent completely in finland, he's decided to stay in the states this time to attend some sports medicine conferences and seminars to continue his learning and network as well.
— living in mit heights may seem a little obtuse for someone working in san jose most of the time, but it's not a bad drive. 45 minutes to an hour and it has lovely coastal views — and ofc he drives a hybrid. he likes that peace ( and affordability ) of mit heights, and being a little removed from everything is nice too. he lived in san jose his first year with the barracuda and it was fine. but when quinn told him about mit heights and they made some haphazard plans to move in together, well kal never really looked back. this will be his first full summer in mit heights but he's really looking forward to it !!
— without the responsibility of the season to keep him busy this summer, kal has queued up a whole slew of things to do ( besides his conferences and seminars ), primarily : part time deck-handing on ferries and tour boats, and volunteering with youth hockey camps and summer hockey leagues.
— in the rest of his free time, he'll be dedicating a little more time to his usual hobbies : sketching, karaoke, rock climbing, hiking in the mit mountains, keeping his workout schedule, and trying every pastry at frangipane and pretty much every sweet in mit heights.
— always always always starts his day with a specific workout at the gym or a run ( he has a schedule based on the days ). it gets him in a good mood for the day and he likes to stay in good shape.
— kal likes to be out a lot. while he's come to enjoy time at home more now that he lives with quinn, he still gets restless and likes to be outside as much as possible. in finland during the long summer days, it's not uncommon for him to not step foot inside unless the sun is down.
— while kal likes routine, he's not afforded much of it during the season, or rather, he cycles through several different ones depending on what his responsibilities for the day are : a routine for game days, a routine for practices, a routine for player's days off but he still has to go in to prepare and organize things, a routine for off days... it's a good thing he's so organized. organized chaos for sure.
MISC.
— citizenship : united states & finland
— skills / hobbies : sketching, singing, playing the guitar, rock climbing, hiking, sailing, multi-lingual, cooking, hockey, soccer, chasing after dogs
— languages : fluent in finnish (first language), english (second language), and spanish (product of living in miami) ; able to muscle his way through bajan ; understands enough german and swedish to not be totally lost — languages are by far one of the things he entertains himself with on the long bus trips to games, by which he means he watches tv shows and movies in said target languages.
— for someone so easy-going, it comes as a surprise to some that kal is so organized. his trainer's kit and room is always impeccably neat and well-stocked. he was quickly put in charge of placing supply orders because he always had a good grasp of what was needed and when. his apartment is also clean and organized. he can't stand coming home to a messy apartment after roadtrips. his positive trait is he never leaves dishes in the sink.
— good at cooking and often does so for himself ( & quinn ). he makes a whole range of healthy and well-balanced meals with caribbean, asian, latino, and scandinavian influences. while he's not a dietician, he knows his way around nutrition well enough. protein heavy dishes tend to dominate his dinners for quinn and himself. when he has the time, he likes to make his own bread. spring rolls are his go-to snack. pickled herring is his second.
— kal doesn't do any formal dancing, but he is coordinated. he likes club dance floors and is never one to stay on the sidelines sipping a drink unless the company is good.
— can, will, and does slay at karaoke. he also has a tendency to sing in the shower and doesn't sound half bad. while he doesn't ever think he has interest in becoming a musician, he does play guitar as well. it's good for campfire nights.
— he does indeed like kale chips
PERSONALITY.
+ active, adventurous, athletic, calm, capable, easy-going, resourceful - boyish, indulgent, obsessive, escapist, avoidant, nosey, a worrier
— kal comes across incredibly boyish when people first meet him : from his easy-going demeanor to his smile to his unruly curls, it's probably the first word that comes to mind. it's true that kal tries to take life not so seriously : he likes to have fun and he's not shy in admitting that. indulgent in that if he wants something, he will have it : his college years were mixed with plenty of hookups and parties and nights out.
— active, adventures, athletic : they all go hand in hand. kal's not one to remain still for very long, loving his job as a trainer and not always knowing what the next day or week might bring. he likes being challenged, and that shows in his hobby of rock climbing too : loving figuring out the best run to take in a physical setting. he loves to try new things, and he'll do anything at least once even if it doesn't sound like a great time.
— but other times, he leans too much into being active and physical. another thing about kal is he's a worrier. he has a tendency to fawn though he does an admirable job at keeping this buried and professional when on the job. when it comes to those he cares for though, he can't help but be concerned, always ones to text and call and reach out first.
— but he's never been one just to assume that things would just be handed to him in the hockey world just because his father played and now works in it. he's always put everything into whatever he does, to the point of being obsessive over it. it surprises some how serious kal takes things underneath that infectious smiles and relaxed posture.
— he's good under pressure too : calm & capable even when things start going south. it's one of the things that made him a good defenseman when he played, and one of the things that will make him a fantastic athletic trainer in his career ahead. though he's been fortunate to not have faced any extremely serious injured players that have involved a stretcher or trips to the hospital, his skills remaining sharp when faced with the unexpected have come in clutch again and again.
— kal is resourceful too, never one to back away from something because he didn't have the right tools to do it. this means he's often one to try to fix broken things himself : with a mixed bag of results. he probably should leave the plumbing issues for an actual plumber. but they say a lack of tools breeds ingenuity and some of his college dorm experiences definitely reflect that. on the job, though he always tries to be well stocked, it means he's able to quickly read situations and figure out a solution with what he has. perhaps in another world, he would have made a fantastic paramedic.
— kal can't help but be curious about other people's business, maybe defining him as a bit nosey. he's not one to want to start drama, but boy does he love to hear about other people's drama and gossip. he's not overly aggressive in this, not one to pry forcefully, but he's always going to listen and ask some very well-placed questions.
— a problem solver what it comes to everything else, it all balances out when you take into account kal's escapist & avoidant tendencies. he doesn't like conflict, to the point where he's been taken advantage of because of it. he's not always the best at seeing when he's being used and it's lead to some less than ideal situations. as he's gotten older, he's definitely gotten better at being an advocate for himself, but it doesn't change that fact that he likes everyone to like him and able to rely on him — even if maybe he should take a step back and take care of himself first.
APPEARANCE.
— 5'11" ; tall by average metrics, short by hockey player metrics
— 192 lbs, a strong build — he likes to stay in very good shape.
— black, loosely curly hair, long enough for the curls to have definition and look unruly ; medium tone skin ; dark brown, friendly eyes ( reference )
— demeanor : good & strong but relaxed posture, quick to smile, welcoming, someone who would hold the door for you or pick up something you dropped, tries to make people feel comfortable in his presence, non-threatening despite his muscled stature
— modifications : pierced ears, though he doesn't wear earrings on the job ; no tattoos ; varies miscellaneous scars
— style : practical but fun, mostly whites and neutrals but doesn't shy away from colors or patterns when the opportunity arises. probably wears too many tank tops / muscle tees. loves a good sneaker, admittedly partial to converse in every color but white is classic. not much into fancier dress but cleans up very nice. has a few bespoke suits.
OOC.
hello everyone !! i'm ollie and i can't wait to get things started 💕 i haven't written anything out wanted connection-wise but please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any ideas. i will reach out as i read intros and am inspired. i'm also very open to going off chemistry and seeing what happens.

Likes: Animals, travel, people

Hobbies: Surfing, swimming, figure skating, dog walking, rock climbing, drinking coffee, pet photography.
Languages: English, Malay, Malaysian Mandarin, Iban, some Spanish, some Cantonese; From traveling & competitions: some Japanese, some Russian, some French
Bio:
Adrian was born well off financially. His father was a successful NHL player and his mother a medical director. They afforded him a very comfortable lifestyle and created opportunities that many can only dream of. It kind of shows that he lives comfortably even by the way he acts sometimes and he doesn't even realize it.
From the time he was four years old, Adrian devoted his life to the sport of figure skating. He was a successful singles skater well into his early 20s, competing in the Olympic Games twice before switching to the ice dance field when the men's field became too competitive. It was a learning curve but he found a lot of success as an ice dancer, which he always attributed to his talented partner in interviews. They won a bronze Olympic medal and two US national championships.
While he had his influential skating platform, he did collaborations to support animal rescue clinics and animal hospitals. The Seaside Pet Rescue in Aurora Bay is one that he personally helped get funding for.
He studied veterinary technology while he was still competing (and due to this, it took him a lot longer to complete a degree but he finally did).
During the off seasons, he sometimes went on missions to help provide care and medical treatment to stray cat and dog colonies in Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Posting about it on social media got him popularity (though maybe looking pretty in the hot weather didn't hurt either).
Due to coming from a rich background, Adrian never really considered money to be an issue and it's sometimes a wonder if he even realizes some people legitimately struggle with it. He's always quick to help others without hesitation if he can. He never really considers it a burden and doesn't think twice about it. Because he gives so freely, he's gotten taken advantage of in the past, but life goes on.
Since moving to Aurora Bay, he's gotten into surfing. Though he's not amazing at it, he enjoys being out in the sun on the water. It's one of the reasons he picked a condo by the beach.
Mostly he's here to live a relaxed life as well as he can.
Wanted Connections:
Former (or current?) ice dance partner.
Flirtationship with a neighbor with whom there's sexual tension and chemistry but he doesn't want to make things weird due to how they live so close and have to see each other all the time.
Friends he does physical activities with such as surfing, hiking, etc.
more tba...

Please don't forget the people in Palestine, Sudan, and Congo who are persecuted for being alive and believing certain ways in their homes. Don't forget the Hawaiian natives who have no say in their own land and homes, and that they also deserve their independence from the forced colonization they are under. We will never stop bringing awareness and hope you keep them in mind and support them all one day being Happy, Safe, and Healthy. 💖

Onyekuru keen to make Super Eagles AFCON squad
Al-Feiha striker, Henry Onyekuru is determined to make Nigeria’s squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Onyekuru has not been called by Nigeria since making the squad to the 2021 AFCON finals hosted by Cameroon. The 26-year-old joined Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al-Feiha from Turkish outfit, Adana Demirspor in the summer. The versatile striker has scored three goals and provided two assists in 14 outings for Al-Feiha this season. Onyekuru is hopeful his impressive performance can help convince Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro to include him in the squad for Cote d’Ivoire 2023. “I was there at the last AFCON in Cameroon, and I am really pushing to be there again,” Onyekuru told Arab News. “In Nigerian football, there is still this negative mentality about the Saudi league – they don’t think it is as intense. “But I think they should be able to see that now. The players who play here make it competitive. I am not giving up, and anything can happen.” Read the full article

Nailers Announce 2023-24 Season-Opening Roster & Captains
The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are excited to announce their 2023-24 Season-Opening Roster and captains, as the team prepares to open its 32nd season on Saturday night with a road contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones. Head Coach Derek Army begins his fourth season behind the bench for the Nailers, as he ranks sixth on the team's all-time list with 72 head coaching wins. Mitch Giguere enters his first season as Wheeling's assistant coach with over a decade of coaching experience at a variety of levels. Equipment Manager Bill Higgins is the longest tenured member of the organization, as the Wheeling, West Virginia native starts his 21st season with the club. Lauren Rittle heads into her second season as the Athletic Trainer, and is one of five females to hold that role in the ECHL. The captain of the 2023-24 Nailers is second year forward Justin Addamo. The 6-foot-6 forward made his presence felt in his rookie campaign, as he racked up 21 goals and 33 points in 42 ECHL games, in addition to five goals in 14 AHL matches. A native of Clermont-Ferrand, France, Addamo will be the second ever European captain for Wheeling, joining Stefan Brannare, who was the captain in 2000-01. The team will begin the season with two alternate captains, and both are second year defensemen - Louis Roehl and Davis Bunz. Both players served as more traditional defensive defensemen in college, before seeing their offensive games expand in the pros, as each player eclipsed the 20-point plateau. Roehl, who attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, had 24 points in 60 games, while Bunz, who attended Providence College, registered 23 points in 58 games. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins put their stamp on Wheeling's roster, as seven players have either an NHL or AHL contract, including the aforementioned Addamo. Goaltender Taylor Gauthier and forward Jordan Frasca both enter their second seasons in the organization, and both spent time with the Nailers a year ago. Gauthier turned in a 16-10-7 record between the AHL and ECHL last season, while Frasca tallied 12 points in 36 games with Wheeling. Forward Lukas Svejkovsky spent all of last season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and the 2020 draft pick collected 15 points in 47 games as a rookie. Forward Dillon Hamaliuk was acquired by Pittsburgh from San Jose this summer, and the 2019 draft pick has enjoyed success in his short time in the ECHL, as he put up seven points in six games with the Wichita Thunder. Forward Evan Vierling makes the jump to the pro game, after concluding his junior hockey career with a 95-point season as a member of the OHL's Barrie Colts. Defenseman Thimo Nickl will be the first Austrian in team history, as he will make his North American pro debut, following three seasons in Sweden. Nickl was originally selected by Anaheim in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 2023-24 roster features a lot of familiar faces, as there are 12 more returning players joining the players mentioned above. Defenseman David Drake is the active player with the most games in Wheeling, as he has played in 112 contests since being acquired from the Reading Royals in 2021-22. Drake was tied for the team lead with a +12 rating last season, was one of three players to appear in all 72 games, and is the club's lone veteran with 262 pro games under his belt. One of the other players to play in every game was forward Cédric Desruisseaux, who had an explosive offensive season, as he led the Nailers with 30 goals and 59 points. Two other players are returning for their third journeys in Wheeling - forwards Bobby Hampton and Félix Paré. Both players finished last year with 15 points, and both have shown the ability to play various roles in the lineup. Forward Peter Laviolette III will begin his second season in his hometown, after posting 11 points and 96 penalty minutes on the ice, and earning the team's Community Award for his efforts around the Ohio Valley. Forwards Matthew Quercia and Shaw Boomhower are back after missing the majority of last season due to injuries. Quercia scored the winning goal in overtime of game seven of the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs against Fort Wayne, while Boomhower's 127 penalty minutes in 2021-22 make him a feared opponent when he steps onto the ice. Five returning players are still considered rookies, as they joined the Nailers late last season, following the conclusion of their collegiate careers. Forward Jarrett Lee was one of the first to arrive on the scene, as he needed less than seven minutes to notch a point in his pro debut on March 15th. He finished with eight points in 13 contests. Forward Matt Koopman also debuted on March 15th, and his first point came two nights later, as he assisted on the tying goal in Wheeling's eventual overtime victory. Next up was forward Tanner Laderoute, who was teammates with Roehl and Lee at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. A former NCAA National Champion, Laderoute collected seven points in his first 11 tilts as a Nailer. As March came to an end, forward David Jankowski's career was just beginning. Jankowski finished the year on a five-game point streak, as he totaled six points during that stretch. Sebastian Dirven was the lone defenseman out of the group, but he also showed a flare for offense, as he amassed three points in back-to-back home wins. There are three players who are brand new to the Friendly City. Goaltender David Tendeck enters his fourth pro campaign, after spending the first three in the Arizona Coyotes organization between the AHL and ECHL levels. Tendeck earned 12 wins a year ago with the Atlanta Gladiators, placing him second on the club. He was teammates with defenseman Quinn Wichers in 2021-22, as Wichers played the majority of his first two pro seasons with the Rapid City Rush. Quinn has played in 119 pro games, which includes time in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners and San Diego Gulls. Defenseman Avery Winslow will make his pro debut this season, after playing three seasons of junior hockey in the OHL. Winslow got valuable playoff experience in the spring, as his North Bay Battalion reached the conference final. Prior to final rosters being submitted, the Nailers made a trade with the Florida Everblades. Wheeling dealt forward Cam Hausinger to the Florida Everblades in exchange for the rights to defenseman Brandon Hickey (currently with Henderson ), as well as future considerations. Catch all of the action all season long on the Nailers Broadcast Network presented by Main Street Bank. All of the games will air on radio on Mix 97.3 and stream on FloHockey. 20 home games will be televised on COMET TV. DJ Abisalih returns for his 13th season as the Voice of the Nailers, and is joined on the home broadcasts by fourth year Color Commentator Isaac Basinger. The Nailers are just a few days away from the beginning of their 32nd season, as they will drop the puck in Cincinnati on Saturday at 7:35. That will be followed by two additional road matches, before Wheeling plays its home opener against Reading on November 4th at 7:10. Opening Night will feature Mad Chad Taylor - the chainsaw juggler, as well as a magnetic schedule giveaway, and the debut of Nail Ale by Big Timber Brewing. Season memberships and other terrific ticket plans for the 2023-24 season are available now by calling (304) 234-GOAL. The Wheeling Nailers, considered one of the top things to do in Wheeling, West Virginia, provide affordable family entertainment for fans throughout the Ohio Valley. 2023-24 Wheeling Nailers Season-Opening Roster#4-D-Quinn Wichers#5-D-David Drake#6-D-Sebastian Dirven#7-D-Davis Bunz#8-D-Avery Winslow#9-F-Tanner Laderoute#10-F-David Jankowski#11-F-Peter Laviolette III#12-F-Jarrett Lee#13-F-Matthew Quercia#14-F-Jordan Frasca#15-F-Bobby Hampton#18-F-Shaw Boomhower#19-F-Félix Paré#20-F-Justin Addamo#21-F-Cédric Desruisseaux#28-D-Louie Roehl#33-G-Taylor Gauthier#35-G-David Tendeck#36-F-Matt Koopman#41-F-Evan Vierling#70-F-Dillon Hamaliuk#72-F-Lukas Svejkovsky#82-D-Thimo Nickl Read the full article

One of North America’s most iconic LoL players is coming home to Cloud9
A North American jungling great has returned to the place where it all started after working as an unsigned League of Legends content creator for more than two years. William "Meteos" Hartman has re-joined Cloud9 as a content contributor for the esports organization. He is sporting the team's blue and white as he gets ready to stream for his followers. https://twitter.com/Cloud9/status/1691556077534404700 The veteran jungler does play various games like Teamfight Tactics and League on stream, but he is most-known for his popular co-streams, where he watches the LCS and other LoL Esports events alongside other popular streamers like fellow C9 alumni Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi. Besides his thriving content creation career, however, Meteos built up a sizable resume with plenty of accomplishments on the Summoner’s Rift as a pro. The 30-year-old has won two LCS trophies, IEM Season 9 San Jose, and even reached the quarterfinals at the World Championship in 2013, 2014, and 2016. Meteos also played for a multitude of other top North American teams, such as 100 Thieves, Phoenix1, OpTic Gaming, and Immortals, although he wasn’t able to find the same level of success as he did with C9. It is a welcome reunion for Meteos and C9 supporters, since he is heavily attributed to the team’s old championship runs, on top of him being one of the funniest and most-knowledgeable players in the space. For example, he has had multiple appearances on the LCS broadcast desk, and has shown great analytical skills due to his extensive time as a pro player. He will most-likely be co-streaming the upcoming World Championship in South Korea, as North America tries to break into the upper echelon of the global League space among some of the best teams in the world.
