idk if you’ve done this before but headcanons for the boys when they’re jealous?? or what it takes to get them jealous???? i’ve been having jealous jackson BRAINROTTTT
Apparently I haven't done this before so lets see if I can get this correct... hopefully 😅
Miller's squad: how they get and what they do when they're jealous
! gender neutral pronouns !
John Miller:
doesn't really get jealous
perhaps if a younger person is flirting with you but that's about it
won't make a scene if he is
talks to you about it in private
probably admits he's a little jealous
Mike Horvath:
He disguises his jealousy with being "overprotective"
I don't think he gets that jealous either
maybe if someone in his friend group or anyone he's familiar with is flirting with you
if that ever happens, he'll take it personally
Daniel Jackson:
he's a confident guy
nobody really dares to flirt with you because how he gets
death starer
flips his knife in his hand or toy around with his gun when somebody starts to get to comfortable around you
whispers" do yourself a favor and stay the fuck away from my s/o"
pats the persons shoulder (hard) and gives a smile then walks away
leaving the person standing shocked and confused
Richard Reiben:
he's a big guy, probably one of the biggest in his unit
everybody knows how "aggressive" he can get and how fast for that matter
some people do dare though to flirt and be a little to touchy with you
and may the universe show them mercy because Reiben sure won't
grabs the person by the jaw, stares into their soul and half spits in their face "Touch or say ANYTHING to them again, I'll break your fucking jaw"
apologizes to you after if he gets to jealous.. even if he hates to admit it
Irwin Wade:
not really the jealous type
but sometimes it gets under his skin if the person touches you or say something promiscuous behind your back
if the person is hurt he'll passionately aggressively take care of them
like pulling the thread hard and poke them a bit aggressively with the needle if he's sewing up a wound
or aggressively twist and turn them with the excuse of "i'm just looking for bruises and wounds"
Stanley Mellish:
tbh, he gets jealous pretty fast
especially if he doesn't know that person
he's the king of insults so that's his tactic to fet them as far away from you and himself
" hey buddy, you look like a fucking testicle, so do everybody a favor and stay the fuck away from them"
waves them away with his hand like "shoo shoo, go away you pest" without batting them an eye
Timothy Upham:
doesn't really get jealous, more like.. insecure?
but he does stand up for what he doesn't like or agree with
talks to the person like a civil human being
" I don't appreciate you talking to my s/o so please stop"
when and IF it gets overboard though, lol yikes
WILL throw a few punches IF he has too
is surprisingly strong
Adrian Caparzo:
big guy 2.0
he's a confident guy as well so he doesn't feel like other people are a threat to him
he gets jealous like maybe two times half a year
blows smoke in the persons face and just says "leave" while staring at them until they eventually they do
and they do that pretty quickly
POV: Jackson's death stare

Friday 6 December 1833

11 ½
much rain last night two good but water motions one after five and the other on getting up breakfast at 9 read over and directed my letters - had the man from Mr. Delaval and paid for my passage in Danish species and dollars (the 1st worth 60 the 2nd worth 30 Hamburg schillings each, and 16 of these schillings = 1 Mark or 16 pence English) at 17 marks currency per £1 - then had Mr. Stäcker - very civil - would do anything for me at any time - I had only to write to him ‘Mr. John Stäcker Secretary the English post-office Hamburg’ under cover to ‘Thomas Pittwell Esquire Foreign office London’ - could only thank him as he was not a man I could pay - then came Mr. Canning for about ½ hour - very civil - thinking of Mrs. Milne, asked what chance the son of military officer had of being employed in a counting house here - none if his object was [?] - but there were a great many English here studying the language and in commercial houses learning the business, but these had all commercial connections to go back to at home - the only people who had influence here were the houses connected with Hamburg e.g. Rothschild; Mellish that is John Gore and co. Bishopsgate street; Barings brothers; Alexander and co. India bankers; Hammerlseys and co. - paid my hotel bill - then at 12 ½ Mrs. Canning called and sat about an hour and took me out in her carriage - stopped at the consulate office and gave Mr. C- my letters for the post – to ‘Madame la comtesse de Blucher, Blanco-gate, à Copenhagen’ – to ‘the Lady Harriet de Hagemann, Amaliagade, Copenhagen’ – and to ‘Madame la comtesse de Bourke Rue du faubourg St. Honoré no. 52 [53] à Paris’ then drove to the bank (Hunt Carr and co.) - went into a private house as I had done before and one of the Hamburg society young Mr. Goddefroi (know no to spell his name) took my 55 species and 100 dollars, and would let me have the value (according to the exchange)in the evening - then went to the great bookseller’s close to my hotel and here again Mrs. Canning was shaking hands with the old gentleman there who was also one of the leading men - got Schades’ English German grammar and 3 Gotha almanacs and we then took a little drive on the Ramparts Mrs. C- a rather pretty? good sort of person - seemed satisfied with me; at least, begged I would let her know when I came again and really pressed me to be at her house - Mr. C- has £1500 a year and some fees - a Mr. Jackson (who was
SH:7/ML/E/16/0145
secretary to Madame de Stäel when in England) writes against him in the English newspapers - told me a long history of his fancying himself opposed in a matrimonial scheme by Mrs. Canning, and the Lady having married a Mr. Prendergast a sir Henry Heathcote knight and his Lady here for economy - he a rear admiral - brought no letter to Mr. C- she will not call on the people here, so cannot get into the best society here, thro’ wishing it - she a violent tempered woman - also a Mr. [Pigoug] HP from some regiment (gunpowder man) and his wife here, and they not in the society here not liking to call on the people? or Mrs. Canning not liking to introduce either them or the Heathcotes, neither of them having brought any letter to Mr. C- Mrs. Canning a vainish liking to talk of herself not every genteel person who was she? but extraordinarily civil to me Mrs. C- set me down at home at 3 ¼ - met Lord H- just coming away - he had been to ask me to walk - walked with me on the Ramparts - looked down up the river and shipping - home at 4 ¼ after an agreeable walk - he going to dine at Mr. Smith’s - changed my dress - had my little banker at 5 - he said Crusens comptorist was scarce and dear, and very good for a person who wanted to learn arithmetical but thought Crugero’s tabelles pr. 10 marks 1 long thin volume would be better for me or for any traveller comparing the different weights and measures and monies of all the principal states and towns of Europe - I did not quite get so much as £1 for 17 marks - 21 ½ sovereign for 5 species + 90 dollars or half-species - expected £22 for this sum - dinner at 5 ½ - then packing travelling bag etc looking over my maps of Germany and almost tired of waiting for Mr. Canning’s carriage when Lord H- came with it at 8 ½ - off in 5 minutes at the river in ¼ hour - on board the Columbine (a longish way to row in a small boat) at 9 - Lord H- really very attentive - he wrote a letter below and then took his leave at 10 ¼ promising to write me some hints for Norway and leave them with old Lady Stuart - in fact I had not let him pay a farthing for his journey except the value of a species in small money taken out of his bag that he would not take back I even paid for his eating etc unless perhaps one or two glasses of rum when nobody else had anything - walked on the back till 11 ½ pm and then crept into my cottage - did not undress nor shall I during the voyage only 4 births in the cabin at the stern and nobody but Eugenie and myself - the wife of a captain of a large Russian vessel with a nurse and 2 children and one gentleman and perhaps one 2 sturage passion besides Thomas and that all - fair all today for a wonder - high wind during the day and now and right against our getting out of the river – F48° at 11 ½ p.m.

Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan turns 25!
Back in the late 90s, everyone was finally realizing that they could have an incredible home entertainment set-up with surround sound. A similar moment happened with my own family. My Dad showed off this new advancement in audio technology with the D-Day Omaha beach landing sequence in Saving Private Ryan. The sounds of bullets and explosions flying all around me left me traumatized. That sequence can’t possibly compare to what it's like actually being there. It's an immersive, combat-filled scene with a realistic style that is probably still concerning viewers about joining the army. D-Day took place on June 6th, 1944. This was a historic moment that saw Allied forces going head-first into Nazi-occupied France. As troops landed on Omaha beach they were greeted by relentless gunfire from hidden German forces. Many Allied forces perished before they even stepped foot on that beach. Those who actually made it to the beach soon found that cover from enemy fire was very minimal. In this movie, as in life, it really can be game over if you get hit by a bullet. https://youtu.be/9CiW_DgxCnQ?si=PwyA3PsZp3_Sn3JF Saving Private Ryan is all about the journey. After surviving the D-Day landing, Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) goes in search of Private Ryan (Matt Damon). His mission is to find Private Ryan and deliver the news about his deceased brothers. The film explores the grim realities of war. Captain John Miller and his team are trying to make sense of the violence and chaos that surrounds them. It’s an emotional and savage journey for these heavily tested soldiers. Another great moment that brings that dangerous element home is when Private Mellish (Adam Goldberg) has to have a knife fight with a Waffen SS Soldier. The scene hits like a ton of bricks! It feels way more personal than people firing guns at each other from a distance. In another timeline, maybe these enemies could be friends, but here they are, fighting for their lives. It's intimate. It’s tragic. Saving Private Ryan captures that gut-wrenching, terrifying feeling time and time and time again. One final thing that really stands out is the cast as it’s simply incredible. Heading to the front lines you’ve got: Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, Jeremy Davies, Paul Giamatti, Nathan Fillion, Bryan Cranston, Barry Pepper, Tom Sizemore. Some of these actors weren’t quite as famous as they are now. If you decide to re-visit, you’ll be like the Leonardo DiCaprio meme from Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood where his character Rick Dalton points at the TV pointing at celebrities! The ensemble is led under the guidance of director Steven Spielberg, and This feature barely scratches the surface of Saving Private Ryan - I mean, how crazy is that sniper scene with Jackson for example? - So, what do you remember the most from watching the movie for the first time, and which sequence stands out to you the most? Saving Private Ryan - The Guardian Angel
What if the one who prayed to God was the only one God couldn’t save?
My second story after falling on the 'Barry Pepper is amazing' express. I love this movie, but my brain being my brain couldn't help but get stuck on the 'what if Caparzo survived, and how would that change things' tangent, so this happened. Once again, I'm probably shouting into the ether with this story as it's such a small fandom (if it can be classed as one at all), but I can now sit here happy that I got it written, and the idea can leave me alone so I can focus on my other works.
One major change (aside from the obvious) is Jackson's first name. There was an interview that Barry P, Giovanni R, and Vin Diesel did when the movie first came out, and Barry said his character's name was Roy Jackson. I'm not sure why his character was called Daniel in the book, whether this was an oversight on the writers part or for a greater purpose (I've yet to read it, but after much hunting around for it, I'm waiting on my copy to arrive so I can!), but I've opted to go with Barry's choice of his character's first name. Plus, when I hear Daniel Jackson I immediately think of Dr Daniel Jackson from Stargate, so in the interest of saving my sanity, it's Private Roy Jackson for this.
The full story can be read here; enjoy the snippet below
--
Chapter 1 - An Angel On His Shoulder
As the sniper of their group – and one of the best in the Rangers, according to his instructor back at basic training – Roy took great pride in being able to assess his surroundings quickly. It was an important skill to have because it meant he could spot targets, find advantage areas, and identify potential ambush sites faster than anyone else around him.
But such a skill meant he had a responsibility to use it every second of every day to ensure his brothers made it home.
Neuville, when they arrived, was both a playground and battlefield to a sniper. The rain was pelting down around them, softening the packed earth and turning it into mud pools. Amongst the bombed ruins and discarded detritus of the former inhabitants, it had numerous sniper hides ripe for the picking – which meant if he knew it, the Germans did too. His head had been on a swivel before they’d set foot within the walls, guiding Miller with a few hand signals to the safest paths into the town without exposing themselves to anyone watching from an elevated position.
Even with the paratroopers guiding them towards the other half of the village, watching out for his team was his job, yet it was one he failed on – distracted as he was by Caparzo grabbing the little girl, imploring the captain to take the family to safety. He’d been distracted, and it was why he was left momentarily stunned when Caparzo was shot from behind.
“Sniper!” Miller yelled. “Cover!”
Roy watched, horrified, as Caparzo caught himself on the piano next to him, counting in his head the number of seconds that passed before the crack of the gunshot was heard. Caparzo managed to keep his feet under him for a second or so before he stumbled and hit the ground hard. The piano, despite the damage it had sustained echoed an eerie tune as the keys were knocked – the French father calling to his daughter, and the little girl’s cries adding to the overall creepiness in the otherwise quiet streets.
The report of the gun ripped through the air halfway to five. Four hundred and fifty yards away. He clenched his jaw, impressed. The sniper was good.
He needed to be better.

how bout our boys reactions when YOU get jealous of someone touchin on them????
Just so y'all know, this was very rushed lol sorry 😅
Miller's squad: their reaction to you getting jealous
! gender neutral pronouns !
John Miller: Finds it a bit ridiculous, doesn't really get why you would be get jealous when you know that you're the only one he'll ever truly love. But understands in some way, jealousy is a humanly emotions and it's okay to feel it.
Mike Horvath: laughs about it, he can't take you serious if you get jealous about that but he finds it cute. Kisses you in front of the person to make a statement that he's gladly taken.
Daniel Jackson: He finds it amusing that his person can get so territorial over him. Kisses you on the cheek and says "sorry, i'm taken" to show the other person that.. well, he is taken and then you two walk away. definitely teases you a bit after.
Richard Reiben: thinks "aww cute" and smirks to himself. Shrugs the person that touches him of and pulls you in his lap to make out with you (yes in front of the person lol) to ease your jealousy and show literally everyone that he is your, and your only.
Irwin Wade: he gets upset that you're upset. He pouts his lip in your direction when he sees you looking at him bitterly. Tries as nicely as he can to get away from the person to go to you.
Stanley Mellish: Same as Jackson, finds it extremely amusing. Probably would try to get you more jealous to see what you would do. Of course he wouldn't go over board it and if you bring up that you actually hates when he does that, he won't ever do it again.
Timothy Upham: Gets lowkey scared, hates to see you and others upset but he has to priorities your emotions. So, he slips away from the persons touch and half runs to you apologizing even though it's not really his fault.
Adrian Caparzo: tells the person right away that he's taken and that his partner (you, obviously) doesn't appreciate someone touching what's theirs. He teases you about it but he also tells you that he finds your jealousy kinda sexy.

Miracle | War-Tober #4
Description: The bayonet nears his chest; you have a Luger.
Fandom: Saving Private Ryan
Pairing:
Stanley Mellish/Reader
Word Count:
1k+
Warning(s): None.
“Upham?” Mellish asks.
You hold your breath, rifle trained on the doorway leading to the staircase. There is no answer. You adjust your hold on your rifle, then quietly climb up onto the dresser at the far side of the room for a different angle.
Mellish’s breathing is loud and haggard in the room; so is yours. The sound of fighting on the street dies away as you strain your ears to pick up any little sound from the staircase -- a stray breath, the squeak of boots, the sound fabric makes when it brushes against a wall.
Each beat of your heart hits you like an artillery shell. Fear coats your hands in sweat. The wait is agony. Neither you nor Mellish dare to make another sound. The silence grows louder, louder, and an itching, twisting, anxiety claws up your body, then shoots through your arms all the way to your trigger finger. You’ve had enough.
You fire a smear of shots into the wall, from head height to stomach. There is a thud, then blood spills out into the doorway, crimson and dark. A quick glance at Mellish tells you he still has his rifle up, pointed at the doorway, and you follow suit. God, there was no way that was Upham, right? He would have called out.
For all your alertness, you don’t hear the bullets that pierce you being fired. One moment you were staring at the wall you’d just shot through, the next you were tumbling from the dresser and onto the ground, mouth parted as a squeak of surprise rushes from your lips.
The taste of copper floods your mouth. You cough and it’s wet. Facedown on the floor, you flail your arms and claw at the floorboards, trying to flip yourself onto your back, but the movement makes pain redact your thoughts, throbbing in time with your heartbeat and centered around your abdomen.
You hear a struggle; grunts, huffs, feet scuffling. Someone kicks you. You wheeze. Your lips are wet and you stare at the puddle of red growing beneath you.
“Private! Private!”
Mellish is calling for Upham.
“No!” he shouts, his voice hoarse, angry, terrified.
With what’s left of your strength, you roll your head to the side and find Mellish laying on the ground a couple feet away, a Kraut on top of him, using his weight to try and sink a bayonet into Mellish’s chest. Fear blooms under your ribs, and burns through them like a lick of desperate fire.
Mellish is fighting for his life.
Mellish -- Stanley Mellish. Your Stanley Mellish -- is fighting for his life.
There is a Luger in your webbing.
BANG!
“Oh, thank God. Thank God” Stanley cries out, sitting up and checking the blood on his chest. Then he shoves the Kraut off him and scrambles over to you. “Just one more.” The pistol slips from your hand and clatters onto the floor as you’re flipped onto your back. He wastes no time tearing off your webbing and ripping your jacket open, buttons popping and flying across the room. “Just spare one more -- It’s not too much to ask for, God, please.”
“Mel,” you breathe and he quits muttering for a second to look at your face.
“What is it? What is it? Anything, I swear. Just don’t fucking leave me --” He glances down again, then tears open your shirt -- “You can’t fucking leave me.” He’s tearing out his medkit and frantically mopping up the blood with his sleeves before you can even respond.
Mellish curses loudly, then tears open a sulfa packet with his teeth and begins pouring it over the bullet holes in your gut till there’s a mound of powder. Then he bunches up his bandages and bears down on you with his weight, putting pressure on the wound till you cry out and grip his arms.
“Mel!”
There is a sound at the door and you both turn, Mellish already grabbing your Luger and pointing it at the doorway with the intent to kill, when Upham stumbles in, pale as a ghost, mouth dropped open and tear tracks painted in dirt on his face.
“Oh, thank God.” Mellish drops the gun and continues treating your wounds. “Get a medic, Upham.” Mellish’s voice is roughed with panic as he barks the order. Upham doesn’t move. “Get a goddamn medic, Upham!” When Upham doesn’t respond, Mellish turns and bares his teeth at the corporal. “Move!” he shouts, aggressive.
Upham drops the belts of .30 cal ammo on the floor and flees down the stairs.
You cough and groan with the increasing pressure Mellish is putting on your wounds. The blood loss is making you heavy; forces a violent shiver through your body. “Mel,” you manage to say. “My leg.”
“Fuck!” Mellish pulls away, then fumbles with your pant leg until he finds the bullet on your thigh. “Fuck!” He hauls your legs up over his lap then starts wrapping it as well, pressing down on the wound until you cry out.
Your vision blurs. “Gimme a smoke, Mel,” you say weakly.
This time, he doesn’t say anything, just pulls at his breast pocket until a pack of cigarettes fly out and then he’s setting one in your mouth and lighting it. You take a puff, and then let the cigarette hang loosely between your lips, blowing out the smoke. Whatever shallow relief it offers, you hold it to you greedily.
“Just promise me you’re not gonna die,” Mellish says quietly. “Promise me.”
Your vision darkens and your head lulls back against the ground. You’d hate to be made a liar. “I promise, Mel. Don’t got nothin’ to worry about.” You smile with the last of your strength, and Mellish squeezes his eyes shut.
“Okay. okay.” He dips his head down, buries his nose in the crook of your neck and lets out a hoarse sob. “Just don’t… Just don’t… Please.” He presses a smattering of soft kisses to the skin of your neck, across your face, and as you close your eyes, you hope for his sake this isn’t the end.
“God,” he says as you fade. “Just one more miracle. Please.”
