doesn't really get jealous

perhaps if a younger person is flirting with you but that's about it

won't make a scene if he is

Mike Horvath:

He disguises his jealousy with being "overprotective"

maybe if someone in his friend group or anyone he's familiar with is flirting with you

not really the jealous type

but sometimes it gets under his skin if the person touches you or say something promiscuous behind your back

if the person is hurt he'll passionately aggressively take care of them

like pulling the thread hard and poke them a bit aggressively with the needle if he's sewing up a wound

or aggressively twist and turn them with the excuse of "i'm just looking for bruises and wounds"

Stanley Mellish:

tbh, he gets jealous pretty fast

especially if he doesn't know that person

he's the king of insults so that's his tactic to fet them as far away from you and himself

Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan turns 25!

Back in the late 90s, everyone was finally realizing that they could have an incredible home entertainment set-up with surround sound. A similar moment happened with my own family. My Dad showed off this new advancement in audio technology with the D-Day Omaha beach landing sequence in Saving Private Ryan. The sounds of bullets and explosions flying all around me left me traumatized. That sequence can’t possibly compare to what it's like actually being there. It's an immersive, combat-filled scene with a realistic style that is probably still concerning viewers about joining the army. D-Day took place on June 6th, 1944. This was a historic moment that saw Allied forces going head-first into Nazi-occupied France. As troops landed on Omaha beach they were greeted by relentless gunfire from hidden German forces. Many Allied forces perished before they even stepped foot on that beach. The film explores the grim realities of war. Captain John Miller and his team are trying to make sense of the violence and chaos that surrounds them. It’s an emotional and savage journey for these heavily tested soldiers. Another great moment that brings that dangerous element home is when Private Mellish (Adam Goldberg) has to have a knife fight with a Waffen SS Soldier. The scene hits like a ton of bricks! It feels way more personal than people firing guns at each other from a distance. In another timeline, maybe these enemies could be friends, but here they are, fighting for their lives. It's intimate. It’s tragic. Saving Private Ryan captures that gut-wrenching, terrifying feeling time and time and time again. One final thing that really stands out is the cast as it’s simply incredible. Heading to the front lines you’ve got: Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, Jeremy Davies, Paul Giamatti, Nathan Fillion, Bryan Cranston, Barry Pepper, Tom Sizemore. Some of these actors weren’t quite as famous as they are now. If you decide to re-visit, you’ll be like the Leonardo DiCaprio meme from Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood where his character Rick Dalton points at the TV pointing at celebrities! Saving Private Ryan - The Guardian Angel

What if the one who prayed to God was the only one God couldn’t save?

My second story after falling on the 'Barry Pepper is amazing' express. I love this movie, but my brain being my brain couldn't help but get stuck on the 'what if Caparzo survived, and how would that change things' tangent, so this happened. Once again, I'm probably shouting into the ether with this story as it's such a small fandom (if it can be classed as one at all), but I can now sit here happy that I got it written, and the idea can leave me alone so I can focus on my other works.

One major change (aside from the obvious) is Jackson's first name. There was an interview that Barry P, Giovanni R, and Vin Diesel did when the movie first came out, and Barry said his character's name was Roy Jackson. I'm not sure why his character was called Daniel in the book, whether this was an oversight on the writers part or for a greater purpose (I've yet to read it, but after much hunting around for it, I'm waiting on my copy to arrive so I can!), but I've opted to go with Barry's choice of his character's first name. Plus, when I hear Daniel Jackson I immediately think of Dr Daniel Jackson from Stargate, so in the interest of saving my sanity, it's Private Roy Jackson for this.

Chapter 1 - An Angel On His Shoulder

As the sniper of their group – and one of the best in the Rangers, according to his instructor back at basic training – Roy took great pride in being able to assess his surroundings quickly. It was an important skill to have because it meant he could spot targets, find advantage areas, and identify potential ambush sites faster than anyone else around him.

But such a skill meant he had a responsibility to use it every second of every day to ensure his brothers made it home.

Neuville, when they arrived, was both a playground and battlefield to a sniper. The rain was pelting down around them, softening the packed earth and turning it into mud pools. Amongst the bombed ruins and discarded detritus of the former inhabitants, it had numerous sniper hides ripe for the picking – which meant if he knew it, the Germans did too. His head had been on a swivel before they’d set foot within the walls, guiding Miller with a few hand signals to the safest paths into the town without exposing themselves to anyone watching from an elevated position.

Even with the paratroopers guiding them towards the other half of the village, watching out for his team was his job, yet it was one he failed on – distracted as he was by Caparzo grabbing the little girl, imploring the captain to take the family to safety. He’d been distracted, and it was why he was left momentarily stunned when Caparzo was shot from behind.

“Sniper!” Miller yelled. “Cover!”

Roy watched, horrified, as Caparzo caught himself on the piano next to him, counting in his head the number of seconds that passed before the crack of the gunshot was heard. Caparzo managed to keep his feet under him for a second or so before he stumbled and hit the ground hard. The piano, despite the damage it had sustained echoed an eerie tune as the keys were knocked – the French father calling to his daughter, and the little girl’s cries adding to the overall creepiness in the otherwise quiet streets.

The report of the gun ripped through the air halfway to five. Four hundred and fifty yards away. He clenched his jaw, impressed. The sniper was good.

He needed to be better.

John Miller: Finds it a bit ridiculous, doesn't really get why you would be get jealous when you know that you're the only one he'll ever truly love. But understands in some way, jealousy is a humanly emotions and it's okay to feel it.

Mike Horvath: laughs about it, he can't take you serious if you get jealous about that but he finds it cute. Kisses you in front of the person to make a statement that he's gladly taken.

Daniel Jackson: He finds it amusing that his person can get so territorial over him. Kisses you on the cheek and says "sorry, i'm taken" to show the other person that.. well, he is taken and then you two walk away. definitely teases you a bit after.

Richard Reiben: thinks "aww cute" and smirks to himself. Shrugs the person that touches him of and pulls you in his lap to make out with you (yes in front of the person lol) to ease your jealousy and show literally everyone that he is your, and your only.

Irwin Wade: he gets upset that you're upset. He pouts his lip in your direction when he sees you looking at him bitterly. Tries as nicely as he can to get away from the person to go to you.

Stanley Mellish: Same as Jackson, finds it extremely amusing. Probably would try to get you more jealous to see what you would do. Of course he wouldn't go over board it and if you bring up that you actually hates when he does that, he won't ever do it again.

Timothy Upham: Gets lowkey scared, hates to see you and others upset but he has to priorities your emotions. So, he slips away from the persons touch and half runs to you apologizing even though it's not really his fault.

Adrian Caparzo: tells the person right away that he's taken and that his partner (you, obviously) doesn't appreciate someone touching what's theirs. He teases you about it but he also tells you that he finds your jealousy kinda sexy.

This story is based on the scene where Wade told the guys how he would pretend to sleep when his mother got home so it’s a little sad.

Never Forgive Myself

The night was beautiful. The stars were sprinkled throughout the sky with light so mesmerizing I lost myself in it. It remained me of back home of how my mom and I used to go camping every weekend and try to one up each other with ghosts stories. I was so lost in the beauty I forgot that the men were there.

“Hey, Earth to Wade. You’re next,” Jackson said.

“What? Next for what?” I looked around for somebody to give me a clue.

“Next for telling a story about the worst day of your life.” Reiben chuckled.

“Oh yeah, right,” I dreaded to be up next. I was so ashamed of myself for that day, but nothing could be worse than war.

“Hey, Wade, come on,” ushered Mellish.

“Ok,ok” I took a moment to debate if I should really tell this story. However, the show must go on.

“This day was the worst day in my entire life. I was never the most popular kid at school. I wasn’t on the football team or in any sport for a matter fact. I was the head of the marching band. However, some kids like kids do make fun of things like that. Well,ok, particularly this one kid Bobby Smith. He was that typical jerk. Head of the football team and all of that bullshit. This particular day he was not in a good mood, and I had to be the one to bump into him at that exact moment after his girlfriend broke up with him. He turned to me and gave me the beating of my life…” I paused. Too guilty to say the next part.

“And?” They all said in unison, “are you going to tell us what happened next?”

“Just give me a minute,” I huffed,” Ok…ok… that day I got home. Luckily my ma wasn’t home yet. She tended to work long hours after my dad leaving us. So I got some cold peas from the freezer. But I couldn’t help myself but be mad. I wasn’t mad at Bobby but mad at my own mother.” I started to tear up. “Mad that she wasn’t there to comfort me. I know it sounds silly now. But this is the part I can never forgive myself for. When she got home, it was about 9 at night, I pretended to sleep. She just wanted to know about my day, but I pretended she wasn’t there. Wishing that she would just leave me alone.” 

The men all sat there is silence.

“Well guys, you now know the worst day of my life.” I gave a weak smile.

Big flirt! (Not as much as Rieben but oh boy is Mellish up there)

The first time you met Mellish was right after your shift in the kitchen at the diner.

You were exhausted and tired and the cool night air felt amazing on your heated skin.

And you would have enjoyed it more if some random ass guy hadn’t come barreling around the corner and right into you.

You both went tumbling onto the ground.

Before you could fully get your bearings, you heard the pounding of multiple feet rushing towards your direction and your body went into autopilot.

You grabbed the stranger by the collar and hauled him behind the dumpster and stood up just in time as a few mean looking guys rounded the same corner. 

When they asked if you had seen a guy running by, you told them he went straight past the alleyway you were in.

Thank god they somehow believed your panicked acting skills and left just as quickly as they had come.

Stanley couldn’t believe it. He thought for sure he would have had his ass handed to him. I mean he did have his ass handed to him by Miller for fucking up the meeting.

When he stepped away from his hiding spot and into the light, you instantly knew who he was.

And you decided that you didn't want part in any of that.

Before he could fully take you in and thank you, you booked it out of there.

It didn't matter how rude you felt it was, he was part of a mafia and you didn’t want to get mixed into that life, even though you had just saved him.

After that he showed up at the diner a couple of times. Either alone or with a couple of the guys.

He really just wanted to say thank you for helping him; and it also piqued his interest that you ran away right after.

He could never get a hold of you though.

Incidentally, the day that he did manage to meet you again was when he was in the back alley of the diner smoking while he waited for Ryan and Horvath to get information from a guy.

You both froze upon seeing each other.

You because holy fuck there is no way you can escape this.

And him because a) he finally found you and b) holy fuck you’re beautiful. He never had time to fully see you that night, just the back of your head and a glimpse of your side profile.

He was the first to talk, “H-Hi. I, uh, I wanted to say thank you. You left that day before I could.”

You never realised just how cute he was.

A cat jumping out of the dumpster breaks you away from your stupor.

You quickly muttered out a “uh, you're welcome,” and tried to leave.

You only got a few steps away before Stanley called after you asking you to at least tell him your name. You gave him your middle name instead and left.

Poor Stanley just stood there not knowing what to do.

He showed up the next day again. Honestly, Caparzo didn’t mind all the visits to the diner, y’all served some good food.

He figured you worked in the back or something by now. So, he decided the only way he could get more than three sentences in with you would be to leave you a note.

When the sweet old waitress, Julitte, called out asking if anyone knew a person with your middle name, you chose to ignore her.

Until your curiosity got the better of you.

You didn't open the note until you got home.

“Hey. Ever since the night you saved my ass, I haven’t gotten you out of my head. And then when I saw you in the alleyway, I think I almost forgot how to breathe. I do realize how creepy this might be for you if you don’t feel the same, so just say it and you’ll never see me again. However, if there is a chance that you might feel the same, please say something. Yours, S. Mellish”

Your first instinct was to throw the note away.

The next day you dug it out of the trash.

Everything inside of you was screaming at you to toss it out and tell him to leave you alone.

But there was a part of you that wanted to know what he had to offer, and you couldn’t deny how good looking he was. Plus, you had been good for so long, lonely for so long, and you decided that you wanted to see where this went.

So the next time he came into the diner, Julitte handed him a note immediately.

You told him that you knew who he was and that you were scared to get involved in his world. But, you did feel the same. You wanted to take it slow—exactly like this.

And so, the two of you started exchanging letters/notes.

You rushed home everyday from work to see if you had a letter from him waiting.

Soon you started actually going on dates. Private ones at first, but slowly you started mellowing out about his career choices (to put it nicely).

Stanley loves taking you to the movies, he likes having your head against his shoulder or in his neck and vice versa, while your hands are intertwined.

Gets you a flower regularly, whether it be for a date or spending time together (once you both start living together, he’ll get you a flower almost everyday).

Which you dry and press and put in a scrapbook with the date and a little description of what you did that day together.

Obviously you become best friends with Carpy! You’re like siblings.

Going out with the boys regularly, be it diners, movies, dancing. They all adore you. (Richard and Stanley try to see who dances better, but Carpy is the best dancer out of all of them.)

Being one of the only people Stanley opens up about the war to and is vulnerable around.

He’s usually a hardass, sassy little piece of shit who is a little too knife happy (according to other criminals that have crossed his path), so when he opens up to you it’s a big deal for him.

In private he’s super sweet on you.

He adores your hands. He loves kissing them, holding them (especially in public, because it doesn’t get any unwanted attention but it’s still intimate); having you run your hands through his hair, rub his back, hold his face—literally just loves your hands.

L O V E S it when you wear his leather jackets.

You also wear his dog tags.

If you don’t know Hebrew already, you best believe this boy will teach you.

His mom loves you so much!

There are days you hang out with her solely and she’s taught you how to cook so many new dishes <3

Which you two cook together, or at least you try but Stanley just can't keep his hands away from you.

He’s always up to try new things with you, whether that be food, places, or even things in the bedroom.

Speaking of which, he’s a definite switch. Doesn’t matter if he’s a top or bottom, as long as you're with him.

When I said “bedroom” I lied, it’s literally anywhere.

100% likes pillow talk, this boy is a sweetheart after sex. Like don't get me wrong he will be cheeky, but he really loves to have your back pressed to his chest while sitting against the headboard.

Your pet name for each other is baby and it makes you both go soft every time.

You still write each other notes, anything from simple “have a good day, baby! I love you” to “I love you, we’re out of milk :)” to longer ones.

And you both keep every letter/note.
