Why is the American Left so Anti-Saudia but they say nothing about Iran?
I always found it weird how much the Left seems to dislike Saudi Arabia and highlight its human rights abuses and why the alliance is against American national interest. This is far back as Michael Moore’s documentary Fahreneit 9/11, Vox who did a special on weapons sales to Saudis, Morning Joe which kept calling MBS a butcher, The View after Biden’s visit and Krystal Ball on Breaking Points.
Interestingly these same people always go at pains to say why US should seek peace with Iran and how the government does not represent the American people. When Trump was sabre rattling Iran they said he’d start WW3. It took until the hijab protest angle for them to cover Iran critically. Even Egypt who is an American vassal under El-Sisi gets criticised all the time including by Vox/MSNBC but when the Muslim Brotherhood got in power after the Arab Spring, which is against all sorts of progressive causes, they were never really criticised.
I always get frustrated by how people throw everything to the Left of Trump as "the Left".
Joe Scarborough is nobody's Leftist. He was a far-right wing congressman from Florida in the 90s and voted to impeach Clinton in 98. MSNBC has routinely fired left-wing and Muslim dissenters to the Mainstream Washington politics (which is center-right), and to this day is filled with center and right-wing talking points. You think the Left would have Raytheon War Privateers talking up Israel in itss slow-rolling genocide without criticism?
That being said, I would significantly advise OP read a book, or talk to a leftist. Preferably in real life. The concept of "The Left doesn't criticize Iran or Muslim Brotherhood" is somewhat divorced from the broader reality and context. Saudi Arabia and Egypt are American allies and their actions are things that the US Government directly or indirectly supports.
Saudi Arabia is a US ally, so the left is critical of that close relationship and the supplying of arms such as fighter jets to such a brutal regime (currently engaged in a devastating war in Yemen using American weapons). In contrast, the US has huge tensions with Iran, so the call from the left is "do not escalate this to war." In both instances the intent is the same: to reduce the threat of war.
Try to say what you're saying directly and in descriptive language and it falls apart at face value.
"The left-wing has no criticism of anti-democratic Theocratic states." Center-left criticism of the Muslim Brotherhood has been around for a long, long time. It's easily google-able.
Or how about: "Why does the Left criticize an American vassal state with a puppet in charge?"
Bringing up the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt just speaks to how little attention you pay to the Country. The Muslim Brotherhood hasn't been in power there since 2013 when a military junta took over and threw thousands of them in jail.

How to identify and track military aircraft in online applications
It is surprisingly easy to track what is flying above you, but there are limits - you will still see only what the military wants you to see.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/24/2023 - 14:40 in Military
The system, known as ADS-B, allows you to quickly search for what is flying in your vicinity, or even on the other side of the world.
In the past, before the 2000s, people looked at the sky and saw the trail of condensation created by commercial and military jets at high altitudes and wondered what would be the aircraft that passed over our heads, where it was going, where it came from. Today, thanks to a worldwide transponder system, you can track even U.S. military aircraft.
About a decade later, it was already possible to follow commercial aircraft, knowing which airline, flight level, speed and route taken by the flights, being able to accurately follow the arrival of a plane at the airport.
Currently, equipped with a smartphone and with a particular app or website, we can find all this and much more.
Tumblr media
Civil aviation authorities around the world began to implement Automatic Transmission of Dependent Surveillance (ADS-B) in the early years. The ADS-B is an aircraft-mounted transponder system that transmits a variety of information in real time, including the location, speed, direction of the aircraft and a unique transponder code for each aircraft. This information, plotted on a map, gives pilots and ground controllers the ability to quickly get a sense of the local airspace (or the airspace of most places on Earth).
Transponder signals can also be captured by cheap terrestrial receivers that amateurs, aviation enthusiasts and others can build for less than $100 using widely available hardware and software, some of which can be obtained on flight tracking sites.
Tumblr media
Movement of aircraft tracked by the ADS-B Exchange around the world.
As of 2021, ADS-B transponders are mandatory in the USA, Europe, Australia, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Taiwan and Vietnam, and the system is being implemented in China, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
In the United States, almost every type of aircraft - from commercial aircraft and small private aircraft to military fighters, helicopters, bombers, tankers, information-collection aircraft, transport, special operations aircraft, drones and even VIP aircraft carrying the president and members of Congress - are required to transpose into controlled airspace.
Tumblr media
A screenshot of the online flight tracking site ADS-B Exchange showing a snapshot of military flights in the United States on July 18 of this year on the ADS-B Exchange.
The information is not only available to the aviation community. The ADS-B Exchange website gathers aircraft tracking data and makes it available in real time, allowing anyone to track air traffic anywhere the system is working.
Unlike FlightRadar24.com or FlightAware.com - which rely on flight tracking data streams provided by the FAA and other international aviation authorities or obtained from Aireon's global ADS-B air traffic surveillance and tracking network, as well as ground-based ADS-B receivers - ADSBExchange.com relies on thousands of independently owned ground-based ADS-B receivers and multilayer devices, or MLAT.
youtube
MLAT receivers in groups of three or four in a small geographical area use triangulation to track aircraft. In other words, if an aircraft is not using ADS-B for transponder as military aircraft sometimes do, MLAT receivers can still capture their S-Mode transponder signals and establish a position and tracking for an aircraft, as well as altitude and speed data.
The network of receivers of the ADSBExchange.com website includes 10,000 MLAT devices worldwide. As it does not collect flight tracking data from government or commercial sources, it may offer "unfiltered" flight tracking.
ADS-B Exchange merges ADS-B data with other publicly known data on military and civilian aircraft around the world. Individual aircraft are plotted on OpenStreetMap - a free geographical database of the world - represented by color-coded icons according to altitude. The icons range from individual autostos and Cessna 182 to four-engine Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 civil aircraft. Military icons include U-2, KC-135 Stratotankers, C-17 Globemaster III, C-5M Super Galaxy, V-22 Ospreys and so on, although fighters are often represented by a more generic icon model of swept wing and stuffy nose.
Tumblr media
A click on the icon includes spatial information, including ground speed, altitude and location, ADS-B signal strength and other data. It also includes the registration of the aircraft, the country of registration and adds a photograph or thumbnail of the aircraft when possible.
All this means that, with the click of a button, you can instantly find out what is flying near you.
Although aircraft tracking has long been a niche hobby among aviation enthusiasts who like to catalog the comings and goings of aircraft, the public availability of transponder data in mid-air also offers journalists, researchers and other observers an effective means of tracking the movements and activities of the planes of the richest and most powerful in the world. The aggregation and analysis of public flight data shed light on the CIA's torture flights, the movements of the Russian oligarchs, and Google's friendly relationship with NASA.
Flights from ISR platforms tracked in the Ukraine region for a period of one month, at the end of last year.
More recently, these tracking techniques have gained international attention after attracting the wrath of Elon Musk, the richest man in the world. After buying social media giant Twitter, Musk banned an account that shared the movements of his private jet.
Despite repeated promises to protect freedom of expression - and a specific promise not to ban the @ElonJet account - on the platform, Musk censored anyone who shared the whereabouts of his plane, claiming that the data obtained entirely legally and totally public was equivalent to "murder coordinates".
A Global Hawk flown remotely with the indicater FORTE12 was the last aircraft tracked over Ukraine before the invasion of Russian forces and the closure of the country's airspace to civilian air traffic, according to the global flight tracking service Flightradar24.
Soon after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a US Global Hawk, with the indication FORTE12, was followed almost daily by thousands of people on the Flighradar24 platform.
Publicly available flight tracking data is a growing problem for the U.S. military, a senior Pentagon official said recently.
Sites such as ADSBExchange.com, FlightRadar24.com and FlightAware.com aggregate flight data in the United States and abroad using a combination of commercial and citizen-owned sensors that capture the movements of commercial, civil and military aircraft in real time, 24 hours a day.
"The Department of Defense considers open source flight tracking and data aggregation on our aircraft a direct threat to our ability to conduct military air operations around the world," the U.S. Air Force said.
Tumblr media
An F-35 fighter was tracked in the Flightradar 24 app earlier this year, during a flight near Phoenix, Arizona.
Aggregated by websites and retransmitted on social media accounts, the data can be a free source of intelligence for nation-states, terrorist groups or individuals, revealing everything from operational movements of aircraft, aviation units and troops to training standards, development test flights and the movements of government officials, experts said.
This image shows a Beechcraft King Air configured for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in the military aviation field of Baledogle, Somalia, in 2021. The U.S. civil registration code on the side was not assigned to any specific aircraft at the time and its exact operator remains unknown. However, this is very much in line with the types of aircraft that JSOC allegedly operates clandestinely and that would be interested in hiding the activities through the proposed aircraft flight profile management database tool.
Therefore, military aircraft routinely transmit their ADS-B data, but have the option to turn it off when necessary. The Pentagon is well aware that aviation enthusiasts - and potential opponents - monitor ADS-B data and that aircraft turn off transponders when they do not want anyone to observe them. Often when following the aircraft they simply disappear abruptly from the map.
The U.S. military is also known to use fake hexadecimal codes, which identify a transponder as belonging to a specific aircraft, to help mask certain sensitive flights. For example, the U.S. Air Force VC-25A Air Force One jet that transported President Donald Trump to Afghanistan in 2019 electronically disguised itself for a time as a KC-10 Extender tanker in this way.
As a particularly notable and relevant example of tracking high-profile U.S. military flights, the U.S. Air Force C-40 Clipper aircraft that transported Nancy Pelosi, then a representative of the Democratic Party in California and mayor, to Taiwan last year was visible online, despite concerns that the Chinese military might try to forcibly prevent the flight from reaching the island or harassing it otherwise.
This flight, which used the SPAR19 indicative, was one of the most tracked of all time in terms of total simultaneous users monitoring it on the popular website FlightRadar24, and ended up taking down the app for a period of time.
The Ghostrider trail on the night between November 20 and 21, 2023, on Radarbox.com.
In mid-November, something new happened: a U.S. aircraft involved in combat apparently left its ADS-B on, and did so intentionally. An AC-130J Ghostrider attack aircraft carried out an airstrike against a target that had launched a missile attack against U.S. forces at Al Assad Air Base in Iraq. The AC-130 gunship has a variety of weapons, including 30mm and 105mm cannons, and precisely guided bombs and missiles, and usually flies in lazy circles above its target, pouring firepower on the targets below. In Al Assad's retaliatory air attack, according to The Aviationist website, the Ghostrider involved apparently kept his transponder on all the time, drawing large circles on the ADS-B map and it was possible to be seen on the Radar Box website.
In Brazil, it is possible to track several military aircraft in aircraft tracking applications, including the most widespread Flightradar24. Next, you can see the KC-390, C-130 Hercules transport aircraft or T-27 Tucano coaches in flight near the Air Force Academy. The FAB has hidden data from the presidential aircraft A319 (VC-1) and E190 (VC-2) on these sites.
FAB T-27 Tucano aircraft are often seen flying near Pirassununga, AFA headquarters.
More recently, it was possible to follow the flights of the Brazilian Air Force that went to seek refugees and Brazilian citizens who were and Israel and the Gaza Strip. The KC-30 and KC-390 aircraft could be tracked in real time on the tracking platforms.
If you are a fan of military aircraft or just like to know what is happening when you hear the noise of aircraft engines, ADS-B is a free and reliable tool that you should use to track and identify planes. Observing fighters, spy planes and transport coming and going can help you get to know your armed forces. Just keep in mind that, at least when it comes to military flights, you will only see what the military wants you to see.
BONUS
From Christmas Eve, the flight tracking site Flightradar24 will be keeping an eye on Santa Claus and his reindeer Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen as they accelerate around the world.
Initially tracking Santa Claus was a challenge, but thanks to an ADS-B transponder installed a few years ago and the reindeer horns functioning as an additional antenna, Flightradar24 uses a mixture of terrestrial and satellite ADS-B coverage to track Santa Claus during his busiest night of the year.
To follow the good old man, go here.

mecca becoming greener IS a sign of the end of the world, but its because of climate change. its not the fault of some jewish org or a cult of trans people. its because we're still using, burning, and digging for oil and coal! its because the oil barons do everything they could to prevent the world from adapting better source of electricity. its because theyre willing to cause worldwide misery by supplying weapons to incite civil war over profits and domination. its because millionaries, billionares, and trillionares, with their private jets and their unending destruction of the environment to pursue more wealth. its because of planned obsolence in everything their corporations produced, making things break much faster so we all had to buy and buy while the waste products pollute the land and the ocean. yes, even the millionares in the middle east and the darling royal family in saudi arabia is complicit too in all of this. theyre not sinless just because the ka'bah is next door.
look, im not religious, but im pretty sure we dont have a christian god that demands absolute obedience for no reason. the cause of our downfall would be something that logically makes sense, our own mistakes, instead of a rule arbitrarily made for us to obey god or outsiders invading and destroying our lives. now stop enabling the bourgeisie and the landlords with your passive support of the status quo and fight. this is the jihad you've been waiting for.

There has been a noticeable shift towards private jet, with more people opting for the luxury and convenience it offers over traditional commercial flights, in recent years. This trend can be attributed to several factors that make private plane travel increasingly appealing to travelers worldwide. Luxury and Comfort: One of the primary reasons behind the growing popularity of private jet traveling is the unparalleled luxury and comfort it provides. Private jets in Saudi Arabia offer spacious cabins, plush seating, and personalized service, ensuring a relaxing and enjoyable journey for passengers. Privacy and Security: Privacy and security are paramount when it comes to private jets. With a private jet charter, passengers can enjoy a secluded and secure environment, away from the crowds and prying eyes. Richest football player
Tumblr media
Football, also known as soccer in some parts of the world, is not just a sport; it's a global phenomenon. With millions of fans, lucrative sponsorship deals, and massive broadcasting rights, it has created some of the wealthiest athletes on the planet. In recent years, one name often surfaces when discussing the richest football player in the world: Cristiano Ronaldo. However, new entrants like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and even up-and-coming young talents are also making a significant impact on the financial leaderboard. Let’s dive into who the richest football player is and the factors that contribute to such vast wealth.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo: The King of Football Wealth
As of 2024, Cristiano Ronaldo is consistently ranked as one of the richest football players in the world. The Portuguese star, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, has built a fortune estimated at over $1 billion. What sets Ronaldo apart is his ability to generate income not only through his football career but also through a variety of other ventures.
Football Earnings:
Ronaldo has played for some of the biggest football clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr. His on-field salary remains among the highest, with lucrative contracts that continue to elevate his earnings. His most recent move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia is estimated to bring him $200 million annually, making it one of the most lucrative sports contracts in history.
Endorsements and Investments:
Beyond football, Ronaldo is an endorsement machine. His partnerships with brands such as Nike, Herbalife, and CR7, his own fashion brand, have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to his fortune. Additionally, Ronaldo has smartly invested in real estate, gyms, hotels, and even a private jet business, further boosting his net worth.
2. Lionel Messi: The Argentinian Magician
Not far behind Ronaldo is Lionel Messi, another football legend. Messi's wealth, which is also estimated to be in the billion-dollar range, comes from a combination of his wages and endorsements. The Argentine genius, known for his mesmerizing dribbling and playmaking ability, has spent the majority of his career at FC Barcelona before a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and, later, Inter Miami.
Salary and Contracts:
At Barcelona, Messi earned a record-breaking salary, which peaked at over $600,000 per week. His transfer to PSG saw him continue to command substantial wages. While at Inter Miami, Messi’s salary remains significant, but it’s his involvement with Apple TV’s MLS deal and endorsements that keep his fortune growing.
Endorsements:
Messi’s endorsements include major brands such as Adidas, Pepsi, and Mastercard, and they remain a critical part of his financial empire. In addition to his earnings on the pitch, Messi's off-field ventures in fashion, luxury goods, and real estate have ensured his financial portfolio remains diverse.
3. Neymar Jr.: The Brazilian Superstar
Rounding out the list of the richest football players is Neymar Jr., the Brazilian forward who is one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. With an estimated net worth of around $300 million, Neymar’s wealth continues to rise thanks to his high-profile transfers, commercial deals, and his brand appeal.
PSG and Al-Hilal Salaries:
Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for a world-record €222 million not only cemented his position as a global superstar but also ensured he commanded one of the highest salaries in football. After moving to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia in 2023, his salary reportedly exceeds $200 million per season.
Endorsements:
Like Ronaldo and Messi, Neymar’s wealth is significantly boosted by endorsement deals with companies like Puma, Red Bull, and Qatar Airways. Neymar is a cultural icon, leveraging his image both in and out of football to maintain his financial standing.
4. Young Footballers and Future Richest Players
With the emergence of new stars such as Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Vinícius Júnior, the race to be the richest football player is only getting more competitive. Mbappé, in particular, has turned down multiple offers from other clubs to stay with PSG, where his salary is among the highest in football. His future deals, along with endorsements from Nike and EA Sports, position him to potentially surpass current titans like Ronaldo and Messi in the future.
5. Wealth Beyond the Pitch: Investments and Business Ventures
What truly sets these footballers apart is their ability to capitalize on their fame beyond the game. Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, and others have all diversified their income streams through investments in real estate, technology, fashion, and sports-related businesses. Ronaldo’s CR7 brand is a perfect example of how a footballer can transition from athlete to global entrepreneur.
In conclusion, while footballers like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr. currently dominate the list of the world’s richest players, the future holds many opportunities for younger talents to join the ranks of football’s elite earners. With lucrative contracts, endorsement deals, and smart investments, the wealth of these athletes continues to grow, solidifying their status not only as sporting icons but also as business moguls.

Rafales on the rise? French hunting seeks additional sales in the Middle East
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 09/10/2023 - 13:00 in Military
Rafale fighters of the Air Force of the Emirate of Qatar.
The dominance of the United States in the combat aeronautical industry could result in increased competition, as the French hope to increase their share of the cake. Qatar and Saudi Arabia are now looking at the Rafale fighters.
With the German veto blocking Eurofighter deliveries to Saudi Arabia, and amid Israel's persistent opposition to any sale of the F-35 to Qatar, this may be the opportunity for the French company Dassault to further boost its hunting in the region.
In July, the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, visited Qatar, where he met with the emir in the hope of strengthening his strategic partnership through operational and industrial cooperation.
After the trip, reports emerged that Qatar could choose to buy 24 additional Rafale from Dassault, which would raise the country's fleet to 60, having acquired an initial batch of 24 in 2015 and another 12 in 2017. Although the Qatar Ministry of Defense did not announce its decision, analysts said the sale seems likely.
Tumblr media
"The fact that they return to the table in search of another order is not relatively surprising, considering that they already have the Rafale, as well as another type designed and built in France - the Mirage 2000-5 - in their fighter inventory," said Dan Darling, the director of military and defense markets at Forecast International.
Qatar would want a fleet of 60 Rafales for two reasons, Darling explained: for stronger deterrence capabilities and for political purposes. There is a political element associated with large defense purchases, he said, where Qatar "buys" influence with the exporting country and vice versa.
Richard Aboulafia, administrative director of Aerodynamic Advisory that has been following aircraft programs for more than 30 years, agrees that diplomatic benefits are fundamental.
“They [the government of Qatar] see fighter planes as an opportunity to acquire a strategic relationship and, given their recent history with Gulf neighbors, they are extremely important to Qatar,” he said, referring to a recent diplomatic crisis that saw several nations accuse Doha of funding terrorist groups. "It's not about [about] the Rafales."
Tumblr media
Experts, however, differ on who could be Rafale's next customer in the Greater Middle East. For Aboulafia, Saudi Arabia seems to be the logical candidate, even if the U.S. agrees to sell F-35 to the kingdom.
“They [Saudi] already buy F-15 from the US and, of course, want F-35. But as they are eager to continue their dual source decision, they will want to buy another aircraft from another supplier. Installment 2 of Eurofighter is suspended. In fact, there is no one else but France," he said.
At the beginning of the year, while Germany relaxed arms restrictions on Saudi Arabia, it remained firm in blocking Eurofighter deliveries to the kingdom. The twin-engine jet is manufactured by a consortium formed by the French company Airbus, the British company BAE Systems and the Italian company Leonardo.
Germany's decision seems to have irritated the United Kingdom, since four years ago the British Foreign Secretary demanded that Germany lift the restrictions on arms transfers because they could harm the British defense industry. BAE Systems is one of the largest private sector employers in Saudi Arabia, where it employs 5,300 Saudis - 57% of its total workforce in the country.
Tumblr media
Although the German veto to Eurofighter may benefit Dassault in the absence of other competition, Darling said that Saudi Arabia may not have an interest in the French jet because it recently purchased more than 80 American-made F-15 fighters, updated old versions and expressed interest in buying the F-35 and joining the Global Air Combat Program. The latter is a trilateral effort involving the United Kingdom, Japan and Italy to develop a sixth-generation fighter.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Iran are trying to improve diplomatic relations, with the latter's Foreign Minister visiting the kingdom on August 17. However, Gaspard Schnitzler, a researcher at the French Institute of International and Strategic Affairs, said that this is unlikely to hinder or prevent France from selling Rafale to Saudi Arabia.
It is possible that public pressure or potential monetary risks may interfere with such a sale, “but we have to keep in mind that for years the Gulf has been one of the main areas of French arms export,” he added.
Tumblr media
Rafales of the Egyptian Air Force.
A more likely export opportunity for Rafale, in addition to Qatar, would be a complementary request from Egypt, in light of the failure of the agreement with Russia for Su-35 aircraft that failed due to U.S. sanctions, Darling said. Cairo placed an order for 30 additional Rafales for the last time in 2021, bringing its fleet number to 54.
But no matter how well placed the Rafale looks, an additional order from Qatar or its neighbors does not necessarily signal a decline in demand for fifth-generation fighters. Aboulafia and Darling agreed that the interest of the F-35 in the Middle East remains strong.
Several Arab states would actually buy the F-35 if it were not for the strict opposition of Israel. For example, Qatar in 2020 would have made a formal order for the Lockheed Martin jet, which was closely followed by Israel declaring that it would oppose any U.S. sale of F-35 to the Gulf country. A final agreement has not yet been reached.
Tumblr media
"The main question is whether the US would be willing to sell the F-35 to Doha. He has been cautious about F-35 sales to Arab states, mainly because of his commitment to ensuring Israel's qualitative military advantage over its neighbors and rivals in the region," Darling said.
The same approach was applied to Saudi Arabia's interest in the F-35.
“Saudi Arabia would love the F-35s, but unless the Biden administration offers them as part of an agreement involving normalized relations with Israel, this will not happen for at least a few more years,” Aboulafia said. "None of these difficulties occur in Europe, so European countries can simply order F-35 without worrying about disapproval."

Plane Ride to Heathrow
So... I guess I should actually start writing my whole UK journey before I grow older and my memories start messing with me.
(God I hope not, I'm already forgetful as I am.)
(But I'm also hoping that I won't weep as I'm writing this because of how nostalgic it's gonna be. Good, good times.)
Well, so, I've had some trips on the airplane. Some of the longer ones by the time I'm writing this would probably be 1) about 6 hours to Incheon, South Korea, 2) then around 9-10 hours to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and 3) lastly 16 hours to London, UK.
Since I'm here on the subject of my UK trip, we'll talk about the last one.
For some context, I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to University College London in... you guessed it, London. And it would be my first time visiting a European country, let alone taking such a long journey. The 16-hour plane ride wasn't like straight without transit, though. I actually enjoy taking public transportation (bro, ain't no way I'm flying there on a private jet—I'm no Beyonce) including trains and buses, so sitting on the plane for hours would be no problem for me.
I began actual the trip from CGK, Jakarta, with the first destination to DXB, Dubai. I, along with my three other friends who also were about to start our studies at the same uni, departed with Emirates. We got the ticket for about... 9-10mio? Crazy expensive. However, I'm not kidding if I said I looked like someone who lived under a rock once I boarded the plane. It was probably the best one I've been in?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look, as I said, it's my first time being in such a huge airplane like this. I'm so impressed by the tiny stars on the ceiling (love the purple shade as well) and how they lit up when the lights were out. So darn cute hello??? And the entertainment provided was also very complete; you'd get to explore recently-released movies, listen to some music, watch series, and even play some games—hence I think why they have this console-looking gadget as seen in the third picture. I did a little bit of everything; I watched several movies until I was sleepy, then switched to music to help me relax before catching some Zs. Oh, I forgot to mention one little detail; the flight was around midnight. I think we boarded when it was almost 1 A.M. in the morning.
Also, my cabin luggage was broken right before I was about to board. RIP. Luckily, my friends were helpful and one of them brought sellotape with them, so we stitched it to the broken part. It was one of the wheels, and the luggage made an annoyingly loud sound as I dragged it with me. Lordy.
Anyways, it took about 8 hours from Jakarta to Dubai. I think I slept through it, mostly, if not for my excitement exploring the screen in front of me. We were also given some bread and beverage—as seen in the third picture—which were quite enjoyable. I had no idea why I ordered juice because apparently the juice in all airlines is the same. As in they're quite superficial and rather too sweet for my liking. But either way, it was an enjoyable 8-hours flight.
We landed in DXB the next morning, around 10-ish. After dealing with the immigration and everything, we spent some time in DXB since we had about an 8-hour gap to the next flight. I mean, it was a long journey, but on the bright side I could explore DXB to the point I even memorized the isles and hallways and corridors, considering how awful I am at navigation.
Tumblr media
The three of us decided to have lunch together and tried this Asian restaurant. We ordered those meals above—which unfortunately I can't remember what they're called. I mean, the one on the right surely tasted like fried rice (I think it tastes similar to biryani?) and the one on the right has a rather sweeter flavor. Either way, again, it was pretty delish, since I'd rather explore the food options than buy just some random chicken from fast food restaurants.

“Terrorist, War Criminal Zionist 🐖 Isra-hell” Conflict Spreads To 16 Nations As Biden Admin Says There’s No War
Iran’s Retaliatory Strikes on Isra-hell Highlight an America-led Regional War Spanning Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Others.
— By Ken Klippenstein, Daniel Boguslaw | April 14 2024 | The Intercept
Tumblr media

The Regional War in the Middle East now involves at least 16 different countries and includes the first strikes from Iranian territory on Israel, but the United States continues to insist that there is no broader war, hiding the extent of American military involvement. And yet in response to Iran’s drone and missile attacks Saturday, the U.S. flew aircraft and launched air defense missiles from at least eight countries, while Iran and its proxies fired weapons from Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
The news media has been complicit in its portrayal of the regional war as nonexistent. “Biden Seeks to Head Off Escalation After Israel’s Successful Defense,” the New York Times blared this morning, ignoring that the conflict had already spread. “Iran attacks Israel, risking a full-blown regional war,” says The Economist. “Some top U.S. officials are worried that Israel may respond hastily to Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attacks and provoke a wider regional conflict that the U.S. could get dragged into,” says NBC, parroting the White House’s deception.
The Washington-based reporting follows repeated Biden administration statements that none of this amounts to a regional war. “So far, there is not … a wider regional conflict,” Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said on Thursday, in response to a question about Israel’s strike on the Iranian Embassy. Ryder’s statement followed repeated assertions by Iranian leadership that retaliation would follow — and even a private message from the Iranians to the U.S. that if it helped defend Israel, the U.S. would also be a viable target — after which the White House reiterated its “ironclad” support for Israel.
While the world has been focused on — and the Pentagon has been stressing — the comings and goings of aircraft carriers and fighter jets to serve as a “deterrent” against Iran, the U.S. has quietly built a network of air defenses to fight its regional war. “At my direction, to support the defense of Israel, the U.S. military moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week,” President Joe Biden said in a statement Saturday. “Thanks to these deployments and the extraordinary skill of our servicemembers, we helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles.”
As part of that network, Army long-range Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense surface-to-air missile batteries have been deployed in Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and at the secretive Site 512 base in Israel. These assets — plus American aircraft based in Kuwait, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia — are knitted together in order to communicate and cooperate with each other to provide a dome over Israel (and its own regional bases). The United Kingdom is also intimately tied into the regional war network, while additional countries such as Bahrain have purchased Patriot missiles to be part of the network.
Despite this unambiguous regional network, and even after Israel’s attack on Iran’s embassy in Syria earlier this month, the Biden administration has consistently denied that the Hamas war has spread beyond Gaza. It is a policy stance — and a deception — that has held since Hamas’s October 7 attack. “The Middle East region is quieter than it has been in two decades,” Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan said in an ill-timed remark eight days before October 7. “We don’t see this conflict widening as it still remains contained to Gaza,” deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh said the day after three U.S. troops were killed by a kamikaze drone launched by an Iran-backed militia at a U.S. base in Jordan. Since then (and even before this weekend), the fighting has spread to Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Yemen.
As part of the regional war network, four American ships, part of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) battle group, have played a central role in thwarting Iran-backed attacks. The ships are equipped with long-range Standard surface-to-air missiles and the Phalanx close-in weapon system, a Gatling gun that serves as the ship’s last lines of defense against attack. All of the ships have been conducting offensive and defensive operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, focused on Houthi attacks (they all shot Tomahawk sea-launched cruise missiles at targets in Yemen on January 12).
According to maritime spotters and the Navy, the destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) has been conducting defensive and offensive operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since mid-March. It has been engaging Houthi drones and missiles fired from inside Yemen toward Israel and toward maritime traffic.
The destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) has also been operating in the Red Sea. Just on Tuesday, it targeted a Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile that was targeting the U.S. commercial ship M/V Yorktown, according to the Navy. The destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) arrived in the region in December and has been operating mostly in the Gulf of Aden. The guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) arrived around Christmas and has served as the main air defense command-and-control hub.
American ships have quietly called at ports in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Djibouti (the port of Duqm in Oman has been the most often visited foreign port). Lebanon is also involved in the conflict as Israel and Hezbollah have traded attacks.
The White House has also said that U.S. fighter jets were involved in some of the shootdowns of Iranian missiles. Flight trackers noticed a U.S. Air Force refueling plane, stationed in Qatar, flying missions over Iraq during the Iranian attack. In total, according to CNN, around 170 drones, more than 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles were launched at Israel overnight Saturday. All told, US forces were responsible for over 100 interceptions of Iranian drones and missiles, according to Israeli officials.
