Benefits of Private Home Rental in Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Pelican Bay, North Naples, and Naples, FL
Going away for a few days can help one to stay refreshed and healthy. Getting out of the crowded city to spend a few days amongst nature is an ideal getaway idea for many. Unfortunately, the costs become too steep when considering checking into a hotel with all amenities. Hiring a sprawling villa replete with a swimming pool and sports facility may be underused for city-born individuals. All is not lost, though. The many available condo rentals in Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Pelican Bay, North Naples, and Naples, FL, provide the best solution for a weekend getaway or staycation. No worries! The condo unit may also be used as a workplace away from home for the workaholics. It is not surprising, therefore, to find vacation rental condos advertised to tourists. The holidaymaker can choose from various sizes with condo units ranging from a single room to 4 to 5 rooms, plus a well-stocked kitchen. Finding a home away from home is simple when one decides to book a condo to spend quality time with loved ones. Rental condos are popular for many reasons, especially the following attributes that are significantly appreciated: -
1. Location- It is essential to understand that condo living has become popular in urban areas nationwide. This still holds true with the rental condos being located conveniently near shopping areas, restaurants, and tourist spots often frequented by vacationers and people visiting for work. Proximity to all the desired areas ensures low transportation rates, as most spots are accessible by walking or hiring a bicycle/scooter.
2. Privacy—Rental condos offer fantastic privacy. Couples and families can spend their time as desired without being cautious of prying eyes. Most condos located in tourist locations have spacious balconies that enable users to gaze at the ocean or the lofty snow-clad mountains from their condo unit.
3. Food- Sending out delicious food and local specialties is guaranteed as most eateries within walking distance are sure to deliver the dishes when ordered. Whats more? Most condo units include a well-stocked kitchen replete with cookware and a refrigerator. The user can choose to cook healthy meals as needed. This becomes particularly helpful when kids with food restrictions travel with the family.
4. Security—Almost all condominiums are located within a gated community with sentries posted at the entrance. This ensures complete security, with instances of break-ins and burglaries being few and far between. Moreover, the condos are also under CCTV surveillance, with each renter being provided with important contact numbers for the police station, fire fighting unit, and suppliers to obtain immediate assistance.
5. Cost-Effective- Last but not least is the price that makes most tourists and vacationers happy. The rates for renting a condo when on vacation are likely to be affordable as compared to a sprawling villa, hotel room, or private home.
People hoping to stay more than a week can go for a private home rental in Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Pelican Bay, North Naples, and Naples, FL, that offers functionality, privacy, and a host of amenities to fulfill all purposes.

In this article, we'll explore the allure of Gulf Coast beachfront vacation rentals, the top destinations for a beachfront getaway, and the various options available to make your Gulf Coast vacation a truly memorable one.
The Allure of Gulf Coast Beachfront Vacation Rentals
Gulf Coast beachfront vacation rentals offer an unparalleled vacation experience. Here are some of the reasons why these rentals are so appealing:
Breathtaking Views: Waking up to the sight and sound of the Gulf of Mexico right outside your window is a dream come true for beach lovers. Whether you're sipping your morning coffee or watching a stunning sunset, the view from a beachfront vacation rental is hard to beat.
Proximity to the Beach: With a beachfront rental, you're just steps away from the powdery white sand and warm waters of the Gulf Coast. You can easily access the beach whenever you like, making it convenient for sunbathing, swimming, or long walks along the shore.
Privacy and Space: Vacation rentals offer more space and privacy compared to traditional hotel rooms. This is especially important for families, groups of friends, or couples seeking a romantic getaway. You can have the entire place to yourselves and create your own cozy haven by the sea.
Home Away from Home: Beachfront vacation rentals come fully equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. You'll have a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and often, outdoor spaces where you can grill, dine, and relax.
Value for Money: While beachfront rentals may seem more expensive upfront, they often prove to be more economical when you factor in the savings on dining out, as you can prepare meals in your rental, and the ability to share the cost with a group.
Top Gulf Coast Destinations for Beachfront Rentals
The Gulf Coast is dotted with stunning destinations for beachfront vacation rentals. Here are a few of the top spots to consider for your next Gulf Coast getaway:

Beach Houses: If you're traveling with a group or desire more space and privacy, beachfront houses are an excellent option. You can find homes that accommodate both small and large groups and often come with private pools and outdoor grilling areas.
Villas: For a touch of luxury, consider beachfront villas. These properties are designed for ultimate comfort and style, with features like private beach access, hot tubs, and high-end furnishings.
Resorts: Many Gulf Coast resorts offer beachfront accommodations, giving you access to a full range of amenities and services. Resorts often provide dining options, spa facilities, and organized activities.
Cottages: For a cozy and quaint experience, beachfront cottages provide a charming setting with the ocean as your backdrop. These rentals are perfect for a romantic getaway.
Mobile Homes and RV Parks: If you're an RV enthusiast, there are beachfront RV parks along the Gulf Coast. You can enjoy the comforts of home on wheels while being just steps from the beach.
Tips for Booking Gulf Coast Beachfront Rentals
Before booking your Gulf Coast beachfront vacation rental, consider these tips to ensure a stress-free and memorable experience:
Plan Ahead: Popular beachfront rentals can get booked up quickly, especially during peak seasons. To secure your dream rental, start planning well in advance and make your reservation as early as possible.
Read Reviews: Reading reviews from previous guests can provide valuable insights into the quality and condition of the rental property. Look for reviews on reputable platforms like Airbnb, VRBO, or TripAdvisor.
Check Amenities: Ensure that the rental property has all the amenities you need, such as a well-equipped kitchen, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and outdoor spaces. Make a checklist of your requirements before booking.
Understand Rental Policies: Take the time to read and understand the rental policies, including cancellation policies, check-in/check-out times, and any additional fees. Clear communication with the property owner or management is essential.
Pack Essentials: Beachfront rentals may not always provide beach gear, so consider bringing your own or renting equipment nearby. Items like beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers can enhance your beach experience.
Explore Local Attractions: While the beach is a major draw, don't forget to explore the local attractions, dining options, and activities in the area. Gulf Coast destinations offer a wide range of experiences, from fishing and water sports to cultural events and nature excursions.
Conclusion
Gulf Coast beachfront vacation rentals offer the perfect blend of natural beauty, comfort, and convenience. Whether you're seeking a relaxing beach retreat, a family-friendly adventure, or a romantic getaway, the Gulf Coast has a diverse range of destinations and rental options to suit your needs. By following the tips for booking and understanding the allure of beachfront rentals, you can make your Gulf Coast vacation an unforgettable experience, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Discover Naples, FL at Your Own Pace: The Benefits of Car Rentals
When planning a trip to Naples, FL, one of the most important aspects to consider is transportation. While there are several options available, renting a car offers numerous benefits that allow you to explore this beautiful city at your own pace. Whether you're visiting for a weekend getaway or an extended vacation, car rentals provide convenience, flexibility, and the freedom to discover all that Naples has to offer. In this article, we will delve into the various benefits of car rentals in Naples, FL, and why it is the ideal choice for travelers seeking to explore the city at their own pace.
Exploring Naples, FL
Tumblr media
Naples, FL, located on the Gulf of Mexico in southwest Florida, is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning beaches, upscale shopping, and vibrant cultural scene. With its warm climate, picturesque landscapes, and a wide range of attractions, Naples offers something for everyone.
Beaches Galore
One of the main draws of Naples is its pristine beaches. From the famous Naples Pier Beach to Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park and Vanderbilt Beach, the city boasts miles of white sandy shores and crystal-clear waters. With a car rental, you can easily hop from one beach to another, exploring the scenic coastline and soaking up the sun.
Cultural Delights
Beyond its beaches, Naples is home to a thriving arts and culture scene. The city is dotted with art galleries, theaters, and museums that showcase both local and international talent. The renowned Artis-Naples, home to the Naples Philharmonic and The Baker Museum, offers a diverse range of performances and exhibitions. By renting a car, you can effortlessly navigate between these cultural hotspots and immerse yourself in the vibrant artistic atmosphere.
Outdoor Adventures
For nature enthusiasts, Naples presents a playground of outdoor activities. The Everglades, just a short drive away, offer an abundance of wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. Renting a car gives you the opportunity to venture into the heart of this unique ecosystem, where you can take an airboat ride, go kayaking, or embark on a thrilling wildlife safari.
The Benefits of Car Rentals
Now that we've explored the highlights of Naples, FL, let's delve into the specific benefits of renting a car during your visit.
Convenience and Flexibility
Renting a car provides the utmost convenience and flexibility for travelers. Instead of relying on public transportation schedules or expensive taxi services, having a rental car at your disposal allows you to come and go as you please. You can explore the city and its surrounding areas at your own pace, without having to worry about strict timetables or limited routes.
Freedom to Explore
With a rental car, you have the freedom to explore Naples and its neighboring attractions without restrictions. You can create your own itinerary, visiting popular landmarks such as the Naples Zoo, exploring the Naples Botanical Garden, or even embarking on a day trip to the nearby Marco Island. Car rentals empower you to make spontaneous decisions and discover hidden gems that may not be easily accessible through other modes of transportation.
Comfort and Privacy
Another significant advantage of car rentals is the comfort and privacy they offer. Having your own vehicle ensures a personalized travel experience, allowing you to enjoy the journey in a comfortable and familiar setting. You can customize the temperature, play your favorite music, and have private conversations without the presence of strangers, providing a more intimate and enjoyable trip.
Storage and Convenience
When traveling, especially for an extended period, having ample storage space is essential. Car rentals provide the convenience of extra room to carry luggage, equipment, and any souvenirs you collect along the way. This eliminates the need to lug around heavy bags or worry about limited space on public transportation.
Cost-Effective Option
Contrary to popular belief, renting a car can often be a cost-effective option, especially for families or larger groups. When compared to the expenses of multiple taxi rides or public transportation tickets, the overall cost of a car rental may prove to be more economical. Additionally, car rental companies often offer competitive rates, discounts, and package deals that further enhance the affordability of this transportation choice.

Cities are the human equivalent to ecosystems: complex, having a variety of contributing elements, evolving. Actual residents and local workers are the lifeblood of a city. This is why businesses in the financial district in post-pandemic San Francisco are struggling or just closing: many tech firm employees are working from home. This is why the Main Street sections of Disney parks, as well-crafted as they are, don't feel quite right, because the ground floor "businesses" are just selling food and Disney merchandise, instead of the full mix of options that a real town possesses. Venice is the leading example of cities which have been damaged this way, where at some point in the last several years the housing stock crossed a line where more of it caters only to non-residents, with much not even owned by residents. Today, most of Venice is its own Disney park, with the cruise ships disgorging tourists by the tens of thousands each day, to mill about the Piazza San Marco, get in a vaporetto to see the Grand Canal, eat mostly bad food, buy trinkets or overpriced jewelry, and after sunset leave the city to the tourists who are staying there, while many of the workers get on the train to Mestre or Padua because (aside from government housing) Venice isn't an option. Parts of Paris are losing residents to short-term rentals and suffering a drop in local non-tourist businesses; Greek island towns; US towns like Santa Fe, Key West, Carmel-by-the-Sea, etc.. I'm particularly sad to hear this story because Barcelona is an amazing city with amazing people despite its tourism problem, and among other civic improvements has been doing great things with pedestrianizing/slowing the streets in the Eixample.
The takeaway: AirBnB and their ilk take long-term housing out of circulation, displacing locals, which drives up living costs for everyone in the local economy, while mostly transferring income away. They market an image that you're supporting some sole proprietor or family business, but it's more likely that your money's going to some kind of investment company (REITs, private equity, owner pools, etc.).
Hotels aren't necessarily better when it comes to local ownership (except as noted above by (@kapustainu), but it is inarguable that hotels don't displace residents on a massive scale and drive up housing costs. Hotels employ lots of locals and (usually) pay decent wages. If you're going somewhere with plenty of acceptable hotel options, please consider the hotel vs. the AirBnB.
(And if your local government is considering restricting short-term rentals/AirBnBs, support the initiative if it seems like it has real teeth. Don't listen to the arguments about "harming competition" or "hurting small businesses" because that's a classic frame by monopolists.)
Xavier Olivé is the last person renting a flat in a building in the Eixample [neighbourhood of Barcelona, Catalonia], after a Dutch company has bought the whole building. He denounces that the owners have expelled all the neighbours who always lived here and now all the other flats are touristic or luxury apartments.
Despite being saddened by the situation and fearing they might expel him as well, he is decided to resist because he doesn't want to leave.
By Barcelona TV. English subtitles added by me.
Sadly, this is a common story in Barcelona and other cities and towns affected by touristic massification.
We urgently need laws that regulate housing so that locals aren't massively expelled to make room for tourists or second homes for rich foreigners, and to stop vulture funds from buying up huge amounts of property to raise the prices. But right now, as a tourist, the most important thing you can do to stop kicking people out of their homes is easy: NEVER, NEVER STAY AT AN AIRBNB, AN UNCONTROLLED TOURISTIC APARTMENT, OR SIMILAR. Always stay at certified hotels (or, of course, with friends and family if you have them there).
If you rent an apartment that is being marketed to tourists where there's a housing crisis for locals, or an Airbnb anywhere, you're effectively destroying the local community.

Explore the Philippines and Metro Manila with this Guide!
Tour of the Philippines - Where to Visit
La Union: A coastal province of Luzon island, a 167 mile drive north from Metro Manila. La Union is renowned for its legendary beaches, surf spots, hikes, and hostels. It’s a common weekend trip for folks in Metro Manila, as it is for Cory and the band at the end of the book.
Cordillera: A mountainous province of northern Luzon, where indigenous peoples resisted hundreds of years of colonial rule. Cordillera is home to the famous Banaue Rice Terraces, hand-carved by hundreds of years of inhabitants.
Palawan: The westernmost archipelago of the Philippines, home to gorgeous marine reserves, coral reefs, UNESCO world heritage sites, and rare wildlife.
Batanes: The northernmost archipelago of the Philippines, a region with the smallest population and land area. Batanes is home to stunning island landscapes, rolling hills, centuries-old limestone houses, and the survivors of some of the strongest storms in the world.
Cebu: A major province of the Philippines in the Western Visayas, a group of islands where Ferdinand Magellan first landed to conquer the Philippines, before being conquered by the indigenous leader Lapu-Lapu.
Guide to Metro Manila - Must Sees
Metro Manila is the National Capitol Region of the Philippines. Approximately 25 million people reside in Metro Manila’s sixteen cities and municipalities. Much of Cory’s time in the Philippines takes place here.
Ninoy Aquino International Airport (or NAIA): Over ten million Filipinos, like Cory’s dad, leave the Philippines for work abroad each year. Their departure point is usually NAIA, the country’s biggest international airport, named for the presidential candidate assassinated on the tarmac during Ferdinand Marcos’ dictatorship in 1983. Cory’s parents both departed from NAIA, and Cory lands there for the first time in 2009, during the presidency of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Quezon City: The most populated city within Metro Manila, home to nearly three million residents and 142 barangays (villages). This is where Cory’s dad Rommel is from, and where her brother Jun still lives. Cory is overwhelmed by Quezon City at first, but she learns to maneuver it.
Maginhawa Street: A long thoroughfare of cafes, small shops, student hangouts, bookstores, and minimarts in Teachers Village, the barangay within Quezon City where Jun and Iggy live. Maginhawa Street and Teachers Village are near two of the country’s most prestigious universities: Ateneo de Manila University and The University of the Philippines, Diliman, where Jun is an engineering major.
Katipunan: A barangay of Quezon City where many university students study, hang out, and reside. It’s also home to music venues where bands like the 1890s play. Katipunan is named for the 1892 organization of Filipinos who resisted colonial occupation.
Makati: The business center of the Philippines, with corporations, banks, fancy hotels, embassies, museums, galleries, and department stores. This is where Bea works as a model.

5 Amazing Places To Escape The Winter Months And Enjoy The Beaches
At this time of the year, winter snowbirds start looking for beautiful places to go to relax and escape the cold. Florida is a stunning place to visit at any time of the year, but it becomes particularly appealing as the darker, colder nights set in. It’s easy to feel tired, drained and even a little depressed because of the less than favorable weather. Wouldn’t it be great to get away from it all?
Where can I find vacation rentals online Naples Florida?
If you’re planning a vacation in Naples Florida, then searching for rentals online at Findrentals.com is a great idea. You’ll find some spectacular deals on affordable, high quality rentals that are suitable for solo travelers, couples or families alike. Here’s our top pick of great vacation rentals in Naples, Florida and on the surrounding islands.
Anna Maria Island Florida
Anna Maria Island is a laid-back, natural island that is located just 20 minutes away from Bradenton. The white-sand beaches span miles and miles, and there’s far more to do than just sunbathing and watersports. Bradenton Beach, Anna Maria and Holmes Beach are full of dining opportunities and night life as well. The island is quite unspoilt, as there are some strict regulations about building in the area. In terms of things to do, you will find that the island is quite diverse. From fishing on the Anna Maria City Pier, to relaxing at the beach, exploring the community gardens, shopping at the marketplace, or exploring the ‘Old Florida-esque’ streets of Anna Maria City, there is truly something for everyone.
Where some areas of Florida traditionally attract a more mature tourist base, or are more luxurious, Anna Maria is a more sporty and relaxed place. It is cosy, with an easy-going vibe, and it offers beautiful views and a chance to hop over to the other islands for a little extra variety if you wish.
The cosy vacation rentals at Sunset Terrace are great for couples and small families. If you’re arranging a family get-together and are looking for somewhere a little more spacious, then the Ocean Sunrise house in Bradenton Beach features five bedrooms and three full baths, and a great pool too!
Marco Island Florida
Marco Island is the largest of the barrier islands just off Florida. It is a magical, mystical island with sun-washed beaches and lots of dolphin-spotting opportunities. This is a great place to go to enjoy water sports, or just for sunbathing. There are some wonderful restaurants to visit, with fresh seafood being a common sight on the menu as you would expect. There are a number of fun tours leaving from the island as well so if you would like to go fishing, or take a helicopter tour to see not just Marco Island but the rest of the Florida Ten Thousand Islands, then Marco Island will make a good base of operations for a long, adventure-packed winter holiday.
Families with young children will enjoy hunting for shells and playing on the beach. Adults will enjoy playing golf, and anyone can have some fun exploring the everglades in a rented buggy, or hiking across the Rookery Bag nature reserve. The scenery and wildlife must be seen to be believed, and there is plenty of opportunity for relaxation and pampering after a busy day.
Couples and small groups will find some lovely, affordable condos at Anglers Cove in Marco Island, while families will find that South Seas Tower and Sea Winds are great options thanks to their large size and reasonable prices. If you’re looking for a more luxurious property, then a house on Rockhill Ct could be a great option, with a beautiful garden and a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with an oversized island/bar. This amazing house is ideal for booking out for a party or a girl’s big getaway.
Naples Florida
Naples is a small city located in Collier County, Florida. The area where Naples is located today was the home of the Calusia indians for thousands of years. The city of Naples was founded in the 1880s, by former Confederate General John Stuart Williams. The settlement was named Naples because promoters described the area’s bay as surpassing that of Naples, Italy. The city grew in the 1920s when the railroad reached the area, and today it is a popular tourist hotspot thanks to its relatively unpsoilt scenery and its proximity to Ten Thousand Islands and the Everglades. If you are a winter songbird looking for somewhere to visit during the colder months, but traditional island vacations don’t appeal to you then the bay of Naples is a great alternative. The city is bustling and pleasant, and you will find that there is no shortage of attractions. Plus, the central location gives you the freedom to go and explore other areas of Florida at your leisure.
Naples is one of the higher end, more luxurious areas, and it definitely attracts more mature and discerning travelers. If you’re hoping for a romantic break then you’ll find this is the perfect destination with some top quality restaurants, tranquil sunset views, quiet private beaches, and so much more to enjoy.
There are many vacation homes that would suit those looking to escape the cold this winter. Saratoga in Lely Resort is a two bedroom monthly vacation home that feels like a miniature palace, and is not far from the waterfront. Solo travelers and those looking for a short break may appreciate the Fifth Avenue Beach Club single bedroom condo which can be hired on a nightly basis , and groups looking for a bigger place to go for a longer getaway may enjoy spending the winter in a luxury vacation home in Quail West. No matter what your budget, you’ll find something amazing in Naples.
Orange Beach Alabama
Orange Beach is located in Baldwin County, Alabama and is a picturesque city with a small population. It has a humid, sub-tropical climate, making it a great place for winter snowbirds. It has a thriving sports scene, and is popular with those who are looking for a getaway that involves water sports, golf, tennis or basketball. Dolphin cruises depart regularly from the city, and there are a number of islands just off the coast – Robinson Island, Bird Island, Walker Island and Gilchrist Island. These islands are easy to reach by boat, jet ski or paddleboard, but the strong currents of the waters mean that it is not safe to swim over to them.
Orange Beach is most popular as a family holiday spot. During the summer, when the schools are out, you will find it’s quite busy. It is popular as a winter getaway for families hoping to escape the cold, but not quite as crowded as it can be during what would be traditional/peak time for school holidays. There are plenty of amenities, and there are lots of things to see and do. A lot of tourists opt to stay in national hotel or motel chains, so those who are savvy enough to pick up a longer term vacation rental will find that they get a great deal on prices, and also get to enjoy the beauty of the destination while escaping the crowds.
There are numerous vacation rental options around Orange Beach. Whether you are travelling alone or with a large party you will find some stunning properties, and at some incredibly affordable prices compared to Naples, too. Choose from cosy, comfortable and affordable accommodation in Gulf Shores, such as Happy Clam , or one of the bigger Prickett Properties with three bedrooms and four full bathrooms for a big group or family vacation this winter (https://www.findrentals.com/vacation-rentals/alabama-gulf-coast/orange-beach/l2129051). Orange Beach combines a convenient location with great weather and a wealth of options to suit all budgets and tastes.
Dauphin Island Alabama
Dauphin Island is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. It is a picturesque island, which is home to some incredible wildlife. There are several bird sanctuaries on the island, the biggest of which is the Audubon Bird Sanctuary, which covers 66 ha of land. The island is the first landfall that many birds encounter as they migrate northwards, and as such the sanctuary sees a wealth of birds passing through during migration season. There are several beaches on the island. Two of the main beaches charge for access now – the central public beach, and the privately owned West End Beach. There are still plenty of other, free to access beaches on the island and you will find that there are lots of things to see and do. Fort Gaines is an historic walled fort. You can also use the ferry to reach Fort Morgan. In addition, not far from the ferry dock you will find the Estuarium – a fresh and sandwater aquarium which highlights many of the species that are native to Alabama.
There are many condos and vacation homes on Dauphin island. Goin’ Coastal has some lovely vacation houses for small groups , and Surf Club offers waterfront and ocean view properties in a range of sizes to suit most budgets . Those looking for a smaller beach house may appreciate the Sunset Beach vacation property, that offers wonderful sunset views.
Whatever type of vacation you are planning, there are some amazing options in Florida. Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway for a few days with your friends and family, A week or month long vacation where you really let your hair down, or even a much longer trip, there are vacation rentals to suit you. Many retirees will book out a seasonal vacation home and spend several months enjoying the sun and the change of pace. Who wouldn’t want to leave behind rain or snow and spend the winter months playing tennis and golf at their leisure? The beauty of Florida is that it has it all. Night life, fine dining, water sports and more – all in one place.
If you want to get the best possible deal, try to book well in advance. This will help you to avoid disappointment, and give you time to shop around and reserve an affordable spot too. For bigger groups, staying in a condo or a large beach house gives you freedom and privacy, and can be a much better price than booking several hotel rooms. You’ll have your own private, luxurious home and can come and go as you please without worrying about disturbing, or being disturbed by, other guests.

Our Top 10 List of Things to Do in Marco Island
Our Top 10 List of Things to Do in Marco Island
Our guests at Sea Mar Condo want fun, relaxation, and a nice place to stay on their vacation. We’ve put together a top 10 list of things to do in Marco Island and we provide a nice, clean, penthouse condo for relaxation.
There is no doubt that Marco Island beach vacations are the best! The island is the perfect place for that romantic getaway, a girl’s trip, or a family vacation. There’s something for everyone on the island called “Paradise”.
The Island’s Beautiful Beaches
South (Crescent) Beach, Marco Island, FL
Marco Island has miles of beautiful white sand beaches, turquoise Gulf waters, beautiful sunsets, and wonderful seafood! There are also wildlife refuges to explore, fishing and water excursions, shopping, and even a historical museum to visit, And if you still have some time left after all these adventures, maybe a day trip to the spa is just what you need!
Marco Island is just 15 miles south of Naples and is the northern most island in the 10,000 islands at the southern tip of Southwest Florida. The island features 2 public beaches, Tigertail and South (Crescent) beach and 2 private beaches (Hideaway Beach and Resident’s Beach on its west side. Off the island’s east side are pristine mangrove estuaries and access points to Everglades National Park.
Here is our “Top 10” List of things to do in Marco Island:
1. South (Crescent) Beach
Crescent Beach is 3 1/2 miles of pristine white sand beach along the western coast of Marco Island perfect for walking, relaxation, or water sports. Sea Mar Condo (www.seamarcondo.com) overlooks Crescent Beach from the north end of the island.
2. Tigertail Beach/Lagoon
Tigertail Beach, Marco Island, FL
Tigertail Beach is located in close walking distance from Sea Mar Condo. This beach area surrounds a lagoon, which can also be seen from our condo. Tigertail Beach Park is a clean, well kept park where you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, and beach trikes to explore the lagoon area which is beautiful with heron and ibis nesting along its banks. There is also a small cafe there serving breakfast and lunch. By either crossing the lagoon or by walking around it, you can get to Tigertail Beach, with its blinding white sand and blue-green water – and be sure to find the shell tree and leave your imprint on the island.
Above, Gloria has just taken her first stand-up paddle board lesson with much success – she didn’t fall off once. I took the picture while kayaking in Tigertail Lagoon on a girl’s fun morning out adventure. The folks at Tigertail Beach Rentals are great at giving lessons in paddle boarding and kayaking (included in the rental price).
Tigertail Beach Rentals (239) 389-8414 , http://www.tigertailbeach.net (Ask about their morning specials)
3. Amazing Sunsets
Marco Island at Sunset
What is prettier than a Marco Island sunset? Whether sitting on the beach or dining at one of the island’s beachfront restaurants, it is the perfect end to the day. Our favorite places on the island to see the sunset is in front of our condo on Tigertail Beach, the Sunset Grill located on the south end of Crescent Beach at the Apollo, Mangos at the Esplanade, CJs at the Esplanade and Quinns on the Beach at the JW Marriott. Quinns even has a fire dancer just after sunset and the show is great for both adults and kids.
4. Shelling
Shells found on Marco Island
Shelling is a fun experience, but plan for it and allow time for gathering your treasures. If you plan to walk across a sand bar, start 2 hours before low tide to give yourself plenty of time before high tides pose a problem for returning home. Have comfortable water shoes and sunscreen and bring a mesh bag or shelling bucket to carry your shells in. DO NOT take live shells – it is illegal on Marco Island. Shelling is best in the Tigertail Beach area, but Crescent Beach has many shells as well.
Tide Chart can be found at http://www.marcoweather.com
5. Marco Island Princess
Marco Island Princess
The beautiful 90′ Marco Island Princess is an excellent way to see parts of the island from the water, sailing daily from Rose Marina, 951 Bald Eagle Drive. The Marco Island Princess offers sightseeing, nature and history, dinner and sunset cruises. While cruising enjoy playful dolphins and beautiful views of the island and waterfront homes. Sunshine Tours & Charters (239) 642-5415
Check their website http://marcoislandprincess.com for schedules and coupons.
6. Key West Express
Key West Express
There’s nothing better than boating though the Gulf waters on a fast ferry heading south to the beautiful and entertaining island of Key West. The ferry boards from 7:00 am to 8:00 am and departs at 8:30 am from Rose Marian, 951 Bald Eagle Drive. It takes approximately 3 hours to get to Key West where you can eat lunch and sight see for a few hours before either returning home later in the evening or staying overnight to return the next day.
Key West Express http://keywestexpress.net (239) 463-5733
Everglades National Park
Everglades National Park is a must see for visitors to the Marco Island area. Whether by jet ski through the 10,000 islands, a short drive to Everglades City to take an airboat ride through the mangroves and grasslands, or a swamp buggy tour above the marshes of the cypress forest it is a fun day’s adventure. You will learn about the Everglades plants and animals and it is not unusual to spot alligators, raccoons, and rare birds. For the children, there is also an animal sanctuary, which is home to tigers, panthers, a lion, turtles, otters, snakes, crocodiles and over 100 alligators.

Captain Ron’s Everglades Adventures (jet ski tour). Leaves from Caxambas Park Marina, 909 Collier Court. http://www.evergladesjetskitours.com (239) 777-9975
8. Shopping
5th Avenue South Naples Shopping
Fifth Avenue south in nearby Naples is a Main Street of fashion boutique shops, gourmet restaurants, coffee and ice cream shops (Kilwin’s), art galleries, and gift stores. It has become a popular place for visitors to stroll along the nicely landscaped promenades and enjoy sidewalk dining. On Marco Island, The Esplanade Shoppes, located on North Collier Blvd is a coastal Italian-style village consisting of upscale retailers and small specialty stores. The Marco Walk Plaza, located at the intersection of South Collier Blvd and Winterberry Drive combines a collection of specialty shops, salons and spas, and a variety of dining options. Olde Marco also has some nice little gift and unique speciality shops.
9. Bird Watching, Sea Life, and Fishing
The Roseate Spoonbill is just one of Marco Island’s Beautiful Birds
Tigertail Beach is home to soft white sand, a variety of shells, dolphins swimming off shore, ospreys squealing overhead and so many shore birds that it’s a stop on the Great Florida Birding Trail. Adjacent to Tigertail Beach Park is Big Marco Pass Critical Wildlife area, managed by the state and a resting site for a variety of migratory shorebirds. Three species – black skimmers, snowy plovers and least terns – nest and raise their young in the protected area of Tigertail. Around Marco Island and the Everglades, the mangroves fill with white and brown pelicans, roseate spoonbills, white ibises, great blue herons, green herons, snowy egrets, red-shouldered hawks, bald eagles and ospreys.
The waters off Marco Island are alive with the full cast of the Gulf of Mexico’s tropical sea life. Species include sea turtles, dolphin, manatee, and spadefish. Manatees inhabit the waters around Marco Island and it is not unusual to see these beautiful sea cows in the inlets around the inland. It is very common to see dolphins playing in the waters off Crescent Beach.
Loggerhead sea Turtles begin nesting on the island between May and August and 60 days after a nest is laid, baby turtles emerge from the nest in the dark and crawl to the water (between July and October). When walking the beach, be sure to look for the yellow taped nests that mark the turtle nesting areas. Did you know that research managers check each nest daily to record nest activity?
Dolphin Explorer – This is a great adventure for kids and adults! The Dolphin Explorer a first class experience. In fact, USA Today has named The Dolphin Explorer one of the top 3 things to do on Marco Island. They are also featured in the “National Geographic” book “100 Places That Can Change Your Child’s Life: From Your Backyard to the Ends of the Earth”. (239) 642-6899 http://www.dolphin-study.com
Hemingway Water Shuttle (239) 315-1136 http://www.hemingwatershuttle.com
Avi’s Watersports (239) 777-9873 http://www.aviwatersports.com
Back Water Adventure Marco Island (239) 877-4531 http://www.backwateradventure.com
Fishing on Marco Island Marco Island Florida – lies in the midst of some of the world’s best game fishing waters. Angling in the vicinity of two of the artificial reefs – each a mile by a half mile in size – built in 20 feet of water a mile offshore and in 30 feet of water about 5 miles out, has met with great success. Tarpon, Snook, grouper, Kingfish, Mackeral, Redfish, Sheepshead, Pompano and shark are among the many different species of fish caught in these waters.
Before you go fishing, Florida regulations require that you have a saltwater or fresh water fishing license, unless you are angling from a charter boat or vessel which already has the appropriate licenses. Florida and Marco Island residents need a fishing license only if fishing from a boat other than a licensed charter boat. Exceptions: any resident over 65 or under 16. Licenses good for one year, are required for both salt and fresh water fishing. Non-Florida residents 16 and over must obtain either a three-day, seven-day or one-year licenses. For more up to date information about licenses, contact the Collier County Tax Collector’s offices, 1040 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island, Florida or call (239)-394-6986.

10. Dining on Marco Island
The Snook Inn, Marco Island, FL
Magical and mystical, Marco Island is a tropical paradise. Color splashed sunsets on sparkling Gulf waters and a white sand beach. What could be more relaxing than dining in this setting in a casual atmosphere with live beach music?
Restaurants on the island offer diversified cuisine and many serve Florida’s freshest seafood (“today’s catch”) – jumbo shrimp, sweet scallops, succulent crabs and grouper. If you enjoy fishing, some restaurants will even prepare your catch of the day for dinner. Many of Marco Island’s restaurants offer on the water or on the beach dining. Our condo provides a coffee table book listing many island restaurants and copies of menus to help with your dining selections.
Some of our favorites…..Note: ($$$) is more pricey, but great for special occasions.

Property losses mount on Hawaii
PAHOA, Hawaii (Reuters) – A river of lava spewing from the foot of Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano swallowed about three dozen more homes on the Big Island during a weekend of destruction that brought to nearly 120 the number of dwellings devoured since last month, officials said on Monday.

Mounting property losses were reported a day after five or six people who initially chose to stay in the newly evacuated Kapoho area after road access was cut off were rescued by helicopter, according to the Hawaii County Civil Defense agency.
All but a few of the estimated 500 inhabitants of Kapoho and adjacent Vacationland development are now believed to have fled their homes, an agency spokesman said. The area lies near the site of a seaside village buried in lava from a 1960 eruption.
The latest damage came from a large lava flow that crept several miles (km) before severing a key highway junction at Kapoho on Saturday and then obliterating about a half dozen blocks of the subdivision over the weekend, the spokesman said.
One finger of the lava poured into a small freshwater lake, boiling away all its water late on Saturday, while another finger spilled into Kapoho Bay on Sunday night, officials said.
On Monday, civil defense reported a total of 117 homes and other structures destroyed across the island’s larger lava-stricken region, as the eruption from Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, continued through its 33rd day.
About three dozen of those structures, mostly private homes and vacation rentals, were lost during the weekend in Kapoho. The rest were consumed weeks earlier in the larger Leilani Estates subdivision several miles (km) to the west, where lava-spouting fissures in the ground first opened on May 3.
FILE PHOTO: Houses sit near the lava flow that cut across Highway 137 near Kapoho, May 28, 2018. REUTERS/Marco Garcia
About 2,000 residents have been displaced from Leilani since earlier this month as fountains of lava and high concentrations of toxic sulfur dioxide gas continued unabated. A mandatory evacuation of much the subdivision was imposed last week.
Plumes of volcanic ash belched into the air by periodic daily explosions from the crater at Kilauea’s summit have posed an additional nuisance and a health concern to nearby communities.
So too have airborne volcanic glass fibers, called “Pele’s hair,” wispy strands carried aloft by the wind from lava fountains and named for the volcano goddess of Hawaiian myth.
Seaside residents and boaters also have been warned to avoid noxious clouds of laze — a term combining the words “lava” and “haze” — formed when lava reacts with seawater to form a mix of acid fumes, steam and glass-like specks.
Lava flows have knocked out telephone and power lines, causing widespread communication outages, and forced the shutdown of a geothermal energy plant that normally provides about a quarter of the island’s electricity.
At the same time, most of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, one of the island’s biggest tourist attractions, remains closed indefinitely due to hazards from ash and volcanic rock ejected from the summit crater, and accompanying earthquakes that have damaged park facilities.
Kilauea’s current upheaval comes on the heels of an eruption cycle that began in 1983 and had continued nearly nonstop for 35 years, destroying more than 200 homes. Scientists say they are unsure whether the latest activity is part of the same eruption phase or a new one, and how long it may last.
