Princess Mathilde of Saxony in 1886.
Mathilde (1863-1933), was the older sister of the last King of Saxony, Frederick Augustus III. (1865-1932).
Wettiner boss Alexander Markgraf von Meißen: "After my great-grandfather's wife, the Crown Princess, ran away in 1902, she also took care of his six children."
Her life was similiar to that of Victoria, Princess of Wales. Both women died unmarried and were bitter.
She was also a talented painter.

Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Saxony, Duchess of Saxony (1863-1933) in 1905.
Between 1890 and 1901 Princess Mathilde took lessons from the Dresden painter and illustrator Alfred Diethe. In the following years she painted several landscapes and scenes from court life in Pillnitz. 24 of them were published as large-format prints by Römmler & Jonas. Other paintings appeared on postcards for charity. In the Nebelschützer Kirche St. Martin hangs a saint of Martin von Tours made by Mathilde. Mathilde died unmarried on March 27, 1933 at the age of 70. She is buried in the New Crypt of the Catholic Court Church in Dresden.
