“Princess beatrice duchess of galliera Queen Marie younger sister is so underrated. I just hate the fact that she's so overshadowed by her older sisters and nobody talks about her beauty enough.” - Submitted by Anonymous

Is it in the genes or the upbringing?
I love that these pretty intense ladies had a sense of humor. But just think about who their mothers' were. Elena Vladimirovna's mother was Miechen, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna the Elder (and her father, Grand Duke Vladimir); Grand Duchesses Victoria Melita and Princess Beatrice were daughters of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna. They were not about to take any nonsense from anybody.

1895
THE GENTLEWOMAN. April 13, 1895
Darmstadt, April 6.
The Grand Duchess (Victoria Melita) is now almost convalescent, and little Princess Elizabeth grows apace in health and beauty. She has her name from her great-grandmother, the Princess Elizabeth of Prussia, who was the mother of the Grand Duke Louis IV. of Hesse, the husband of the Princess Alice of Great Britain.
The Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, accompanied by the Hereditary Prince (Alfred) and Princess Beatrice, left Darmstadt for Coburg last Saturday, but the Duchess and the Princess Alexandra are still here.
The Queen is to arrive from Cimiez on the 20th inst., and will remain in Darmstadt until the 25th, when she goes to Cronberg on a visit to Empress Frederick, who is anxious that her mother should see her new home.

“The Edinburgh sisters had such a great fashion sense. Like even now, in the 21st century, that i look at their photos, they exhibit class and glam. They really were such powerhouse fashion icons.” - Submitted by Anonymous
