Kjoll is a newer character. I’ve got a good grasp of who Xaallo is, but Kjoll is more concept than execution right now.
Arrogant, morally-ambiguous bastard
Has good customer service tho, so this might not be immediately evident
h0rny
Big Game Hunter
Occasionally nabs humans (and other critters)
Loves white, silver, and grey pelts. Kjoll has had himself flayed once just for the Merle pattern (while under many painkillers, of course).
Can be a Karen™
The one gay that’s shit at driving
Has multiple haunts around the galaxy, doesn’t ever stay in any them for very long
Surprisingly, doesn’t like being alone, hence the constant mazrat guard presence. not all of them are guards, some do other service jobs that aren't combat related
Kjoll’s ability to make genuine friends probably does exist....though he would maintain these friendships chiefly for their usefulness. maybe he’ll even be useful in return. I feel like Kjoll, in true narcissist fashion, never really “lets go” of anyone he fosters a deep enough connection with. I felt like if he truly let someone go, this may or may not involve having them assassinated.
Has a complicated and skewed love-hate relationship with Xaallo. Not so much who he is, but what he is. Most of the bitterness comes from and is more intensely felt by Kjoll, which is something he’s aware of. Xaallo didn’t choose to be a prince anymore than he chose to be a bastard. Kjoll and Xaallo could be hiding a body together one minute, but Kjoll would absolutely say “officer i dont know this man” if they got caught.
Does not like Okaal though, like at all. Kjoll says ACAB.
He’s a liar and cheater, bit of a coward, underhanded as heck, and hates losing. Holds grudges, very much believes in getting even or winning.
Pretty boy has a temper on him, underneath his customer service persona.
he giggles
does a gay little walk that makes you wanna kill him
He smokes, both cigars and various space drugs.
A significant presence in the inter-galactic underworld, especially among it’s Mazrat population which is numerous, both generally and here. Kjoll is seen as something as a “hero” to them seeing as Mazrats are a non-apex, tiny species (only one smaller than humans!) and are often treated badly both in and out of Confederation circles. Luring into crime is easy and since Mazrats are common and unassuming, using them for crime is usually easy too. As a result, there are few things Kjoll can’t get his hands on, either through purchase, favors, or threats.
He also has lots of ears in lots of places, spanning the Galaxy.
Wealthy.
Kjoll is a twink by Margaven standards; he is the most dancer of the five, being slimmer and more ostentatious. He accentuates this with various robes and gowns, all whites and silvers of course.
Kjoll’s name actually isn’t a margaven name, despite the double letters (which, you might notice, are consonants and not vowels). It’s actually a Mazrat name, a subtle jab from Kaldane that he wouldn’t see for what it was until later.
Unsurprisingly, he also hates Kaldane.
Master marksman and skilled with a variety of weapons. He prefers using his mazrats to flush out a target before sniping them, usually to collect their skull and/or pelt. Kjoll is not a conditioned melee fighter.
He can sing and often does so while bathing or even while being carried. No clue who his singing VA should be; haven’t really settled on a normal VA.
Despite all of this, he is still in Xaallo’s age range, which would be in his early twenties for a human. Can’t believe I made louis from Beastars, but in space.

aka what the hap is fuckening with the twins
they’re born to the pack alpha of the fushimi inari shrine in kyoto, but twins were considered a bad omen, and the parents were ordered to either kill one, or leave
the father, ren, decided to leave with the firstborn, shinjou, thinking his mate, chou, and the younger son, shinzou, deserved to stay with the pack they considered family
the twins are separated too young, they don’t remember one another, nor do they know the other exist until their parents mention it when they’re older
they’re identical at this point, the only way to tell them apart is to look for shinzou’s birth deficiency in the form of a floppy ear
shinzou
shinzou basically gets treated like a prince, brought up as the next alpha, despite some of the other kitsune still scoffing at him
devoted to his mother, stubborn and determined to make her proud
asks too many questions about dad
learns he has a twin, cue even more questions
develops the mentality of being the unwanted child, that his life doesn’t matter, and all the world needs is his brother;  he covers it up, but it plagues him for his entire life
learned how to pretend because of this from a very young age, deals with his issues alone
his mother starts to get sick, and she knows it’s the beginning of her heartbreak due to prolonged separation from her mate.  she doesn’t tell shinzou this
he gets desperate, and one night goes to beseech inari for a blessing
gets caught in a blast from a field test of the early prototype biological weapons containing the angel gene;  his right hand, chest, neck, and face get badly burned
thinks it’s a curse from inari, and turns againist his clan, saying they’re serving and woshipping a  ‘false god’
gets exiled, is ordered to take his mother with him.  she’s weakened and cannot fight this, and shinzou is too young to really stand up againist everyone, but he tries
not that he succeeds
cue his lifelong hatred of gods and anything divine
he, nor his kin in general, has ever been around humans, so has troubles adapting.  knows basic glamours at least, though
his life revolves around saving his mother
they live in a small forested area at the outskirts of the city
when his burns heal at least a little bit, he starts job hunting, eventually landing something in one of kyoto’s strip clubs, where he goes under the work name  ‘kessho’
works as both a stripper and an escort
his fur and hair that had been damaged in the fire grew back black, so now half his hair is black, along with his right ear.  also, his right eye turned red, half of his right eyebrow never grew back, nor did his eyelashes.  rocked the undercut haircut for a while, as his hair grew back
one night after his shift, he’s approached by a stranger claiming to know he’s not human, and pressures him into joining their organization
he only agrees out of desperation and under the promise that they can cure his mother
it’s revealed to him that they’re an angel hunting organization, and that if he helps them, they could easily develop a cure for chou.  shinzou has no clue what this is all about, but he’d do anything for his mother
so they take them from kyoto to maebashi, the city where the phenomen originated from
as it turns out, the hunters couldn’t quite trust a youkai, and so he’s ensnared and branded againist his will, with a spell placed upon him that effectively makes him their slave
the brand is the kanji for the number four  ( 四 )  in a circle on his left inner wrist.  its symbolism represents that this contract is for life  ( read as  shi, same as 死, meaning death  )
they do that, along with taking his star orb, which is essentially his soul taken physical form, and use it as means to keep him in check
hides the brand with a thick leather bracelet
his job is hunting down angels around the city and it’s neighborhood, though sometimes he’d receive an order to go even further afield
his free time is limited, so he strikes a part-time job at a local strip club once more, to have some cash of his own, given the hunters don’t really give him anything
he’s not aware that his mother is used as just another test subject for the angel experiments, and she keeps quiet about it aswell, not wanting her son to worry
what’s worse, her natural eye color is red, so as the mutation takes effect, shinzou doesn’t notice the difference
one day meets a boy, kaede, shy and softspoken, who approaches him when he sees shinzou getting harassed by some stranger who most probably knew him from the strip club, given he was asking for a  freebie
they start hanging out together, pretty much all the time when shinzou has the time
never tells him he’s an angel hunter, given that the boy has angel eyes himself, doesn’t want to put him in dager
as it turns out, he’s the first angel ever created;  he suffered from a terminal blood disease, but this new  ‘cure’  helped him live.  this gives him more hope for his mother to survive, too
things get gAY, they even mate
somewhere along the way he fucks up, and the organization he works for discovers he knows the identity of the first angel, and is ordered to hunt him down and bring him in, alive
is faced with a dilemma, but in the end chooses his family over his love life
so things get angsty, but shinzou eventually does return with the first angel, only to find his mother dead
he never learns how it happened, never really has it confirmed that they’ve been experimenting on her, but the thing is that supernatural creatures don’t handle the angel gene well, and with her already being weak and bed-ridden, she eventually succumbed to it.  he has his suspicions that that’s what happened, but still
also, neither does he learn that she was dying of heartbreak
anyway, he gets mad, forgets his orders, turns into a big bad fox and burns everything
going againist his owners means extreme pain, given the brand, but he endures.  ends up limping and not being able to use his left arm for quite some time
retrieves his star orb along the way, but it doesn’t fully free him from this slavery, since the brand persists  ( more on that later )
his mate survives the destruction, but no one else does.  they rendezvous outside the burning facility, where shinzou bids him goodbye as he feels the need to bring his mother’s body back to kyoto for burial + he needs to deal with his grief
promises he’ll be back tho
shinjou
compared to his brother, shinjou and his father got into a more direct contact with the angel phenomen.  they’re dragged into the more underground business, the criminal side of all this.  they remain in kyoto, though
they’re just as inexperienced around humans, which ends up in the current yakuza head taking their star orbs to have them under their command
they’re manipulated, given the illusion of power, of being in the lead while they’re really not
the yakuza progresses to be one of the most successful groups in the whole angel business, eventually going as far as actually conducting their own experiments, and starting their reign of terror, as they spread the stigma of angels being lesser than humans, that they’re monsters to be contained
the human trafficking begins
ren and shinjou become the first of the yakuza to be infected with the virus voluntarily, their morals and world views so skewed at this point that they’ve become power hungry  ---  ren especially, and shinjou is brought up in his example
shinjou is raised with the regime of all work, no play.  he becomes detached from society, from other people around him, all that matters is that he successfully walks in his father’s footsteps and makes him proud
shinjou’s mutation is cultivated in such a way that it surpasses what the first angel is  ---  he’s mostly a myth as of right now, but they know little tidbits here and there, and believe him to be the greatest specimen, and want shinjou to revolutionize this
he sees this as an honor really
develops a twisted mentality of angels being  beautiful,  rather than monsters, and thinks the world would be better off if everyone became one
he still goes all wrong about this.  i mean, constant torture and terrorism really isn’t going to make the world feel the same smh
eventually, his father succumbs to the angel genes, much like his mate.  this is what triggers the chain reactions of both parents dying, and when shinzou goes to destroy the facility he was  ( is )  chained to
shinjou becomes the next boss abruptly, and still relies on his advisors  ( aka the people owning his star orb at the moment, and the ones actively manipulating him as their pawn )
his father’s death drives him into more aggressive experiments with himself, this is also the time when he starts becoming more interested in the scientific side of all this;  aka where his mad scientist label comes from
he goes too far, so much so that it starts affecting his brain even more than the poor parenting already had, and he starts hearing voices, becomes unable to sleep  ---  and when he does, he always has to deal with sleep paralysis  ---  and even starts coughing up blood every now and then
ofc doesn’t stop SMH
he renames the yakuza to  ‘order of the lotus’  in his father’s honor, and their new insignia becomes the lotus flower
he’s the reason japan no longer views the lotus as a symbol of something good and pure, nor do they use the word  ‘angel’  as a term of endearment anymore
many have attempted to stop him, but to no avail
eventually gets a new cop, ciro, on his tail, who turns out to be an angel himself, with a very unique mutation  ---  the ability to see the past and future, to see through lies and illusions
thanks to this, he’s always a step ahead of shinjou and naturally he gets furious
game of cat and mouse begins but then it also gets gay along the way??
their relationship starts out as just friends with benefits, and only gets more toxic as time goes on
he learns that his new  ‘friend’  was actually originally trying to stop his own father, who was revealed to be shinjou’s current biggest rival in the angel business, someone who actually actively tried breeding angels for better results
shinjou kind of persuades the man to side with him, and their union eventually end in his rival’s demise
so shinjou basically gets the whole country for himself, gg
they end up mating aswell which ends up being a horrible mistake lmao
still, ciro also helps shinjou to free himself from his  ‘advisors’  influence, showing him that they were pulling the strings behind the scenes, gaining more benefits from what shinjou’s been doing that he did, himself
so shinjou gets his star orb back aswell, and is now in full control of his yakuza;  and all of kyoto, really
reunited
the twins find each other at the grove near their old home at the fushimi shrine.  as it turns out, it’s where shinjou had buried their father, and where shinzou went to bury their mother aswell
big feels time™
admittedly shinzou is a little unsettled by how unstable his brother is
shinjou tells him more in detail about the angel genes, and that he is an angel aswell, rather than it being  ‘inari’s curse’
it’s hard for shinzou to accept, but he does...  doesn’t change his opinion on the gods, though
so then he also struggles when he realizes his brother has a god complex
the happiness of finding what remained of his family was better than worrying, though, so he turned a blind eye to basically everything
shinjou gets shinzou to be the yakuza head with him, so shinzou gets a matching lotus tattoo on his spine
he doesn’t actively participate in the angel hunts and experiments his brother conducts, but he does act as a regular hitman and infiltrator, and all that angel-unrelated crime stuff
he meets ciro, and they hate each other.  constant fights and bickering
this has him trying to convince shinjou he’s not good for him, but he doesn’t listen
at one point, the twins agree to exact revenge on their clan, exacting the genocide during the full moon in july that year.  thanks to this, locals start to avoid the oldest of inari’s shrine, believing it to be haunted
the violence helps shinzou get over his grief, even if that had nothing to do with his mother’s death really
he leaves kyoto again to return to maebashi to find his mate
spends some time with him there, but some of the allies of the organization he originally worked for have tracked him down and tried to get him under their command again  ( thanks to the brand and the spell persisting )  and get the first angel
cornered, shinzou cuts off his own arm with his illusory weapons to rid himself of that link.  a price most people wouldn’t pay
he’s now truly free, but has to deal with getting himself a prosthetic and also his wounded pride;  doesn’t allow anyone to see him without the prosthetic, compensates for his ego by working out more, just basically trying to prove the world he’s  not weak
shinzou and kaede decide they should move away from maebashi, given it’s not safe for either for them, so they move to kobe rather than kyoto, because shinzou worries about what his brother might do to his mate who is the long-sought-after first angel
still comes to visit every now and then, though, only to long for leaving again given the constant disputes with his brother’s mate
still ends up hating the fact that he keeps having to choose between his brother and his mate, so he ends up talking kaede into actually moving in to kyoto with him
kaede, being the soft boy that he is, discovers shinjou has a little angel girl in his custody, and adopts her...  steals her, really
shinjou lets him have her, in exchange for his blood sample
shinzou however, disagrees on having children and makes kaede put her to orphanage
time passes, and sans the constant terror the elder twin brings, life seems good
eventually shinzou changes his mind and surprises his mate by actually adopting the little girl, papers and all
they name her chou in the memory of his mother
nothing good lasts forever, though, and shinzou and kaede end up fighting a lot, especially because shinjou’s mate ends up making sexual advances towards the fox out of spite, and it eventually ends in their break up, and  ---  given the angel’s weak psyche  ---  him taking his own life
shinzou is now left being a single mother  ( his daughter refers to him as  ‘mama’  because he encouraged her to view him as her mother figure, because other kids teased her for having two dads )
ciro doesn’t stop with his harassment, just further proving what a piece of shit he is, but shinzou is still unable to change his brother’s mind
frankly, the angel treats both twins differently, but is still a rather toxic presence in both their lives
it leads to ciro actually raping shinzou, though unfortunately for him, it involved touching the kitsune’s tails without his permission, resulting in a curse being laid upon the man that ends up eventually killing him
so essentially, shinzou’s killed his brother’s mate, something he never tells him
he becomes withdrawn from the trauma, and kind of doesn’t ever want to get in another relationship again.  goes back to stripping to deal with this, because it was about the only thing that ever made him feel good and he genuinely enjoyed it;  made him forget things, etc.
with the death of both the twins’ mates, they start feeling the heartbreak settling in, toxic relationships or not
ciro’s death also basically brings shinjou to the brink of insanity, and if he can’t have anything good, then neither can the world
cue the lowkey apocalypse
japan’s end
shinjou’s rage consumes japan;  he kills and destroys without a reason, his obsession with his mate showing
he, unlike his brother, was aware of the whole heartbreak thing
decided to have them both undergo more drastical adjustments to the angel genes in their body, forcing the parasite to keep them alive
the destruction was raw and imminent, though only in kyoto’s near vicinity.  it took years, centuries even, for the young kitsune brothers to overtake all of japan  ---  frankly, it was all mostly shinjou’s doing, but shinzou helped so he’s also guilty gnfjdkg
both shinjou’s mental and physical condition doesn’t get better, given that he accelerated the parasite’s growth
shinzou can do only so much to help him, though.  oftentimes, he’d disguise himself with a glamour of his past mate to help him deal with his loss  ( no matter how gross he felt doing it )  usually when shinjou was so sleep deprived that he believed it to just be a dream, but it was good enough to keep him at least a little sane
japan eventually becomes a prison country, where angels from all around the world are brought in, for shinjou to do whatever he pleases with themhe’s still extremely fascinated by the mutation, so really, most of them end up being lab rats as he tries various new experiments with their dna
angels may have prolonged lifespans, but they are not immortal.  and so, shinzou has to deal with the death of his daughter aswell
they’re alone, have no one but each other, they’re sick, both mentally and physically, they’re withdrawn, dangerous, and unpredictable
despite all that, technology thrives.  the surviving angels form a resistance, and where shinjou focuses on the biological, they focus on the technological
lots of current angels have various cybernetic implants and microchips to enhance them further to actually stand a chance in this war
what shinjou does, is to actively shut down more and more power plants to make the country fully dependant on him, given he commands the element of lightning, it’s easy for him to provide electricity to his surroundings.  ofc, this is limited by his age, but it’s a gradual process

What do you love about your WIP?
Got tagged by the wonderful @damawrites who for some reason tumblr refused to believe existed for several minutes. The tag would not work for the life of me.
Athanasia/The Legacy of Riven
- I love how much its changed. I’ve been working on this on and off for over three years now. Originally the story was about a plucky mage boy who escapes a prison that houses mages because they’re viewed as dangerous (cough dragon age cough) and he meets up with a thief who later turns out to be the long lost prince and they go on adventures and stuff.  Now, that mage boy is my major villain and the thief is no-one special, but he strives to save the world not for prophecy but because he feels responsible for putting it in danger in the first place.
- Also Riven, the thief, was meant to be this snarky jerk with a heart of hold and over time became the most mature person who literally has every reason to hate the world around him and want it to burn but instead fights to save it. He wasn’t actually meant to be the hero, that was meant for a noble prince/chosen one character who is now just a minor background character.
- My own dumb little inside jokes with it, like when I mentioned Riven survives a fire, being shot at, stabbed and then thrown from a building my friend just went; “So this asshole is surviving purely out of spite at this stage right?”  This joke carries on to his fence who writes stories about their adventures and the character based on him is killed in every single one but is magically revived in the next book with no other characters questioning it.
- He’s also called the boy who fears neither the gods or death.
- How I accidentally showed what an unhealthy relationship was compared to a healthy one. With Gabriel and Riven it was two people bonding over all their shared bad experiences and abuse and nothing else. With Kione and Riven, it’s two people growing with each other and encouraging each other. And yeah they both suffer too but they help the other with their emotional and physical scars and that never happened between Gabriel and Riven.
Withergate
- I’m going to state outright that I am absolutely obsessed with the paranormal and death. I used to watch Ghost Hunters until I gave myself nightmares and Silent Hill will always be my number one love. Withergate is something of a fusion of the two.
- Withergate also deals with mental disorders, such as schizophrenia. I had a relative with schizophrenia who sadly killed themselves when I was very young and it’s always saddened me that mental disorders are used for cheap villains or scares. You know the whole oh he did it cause he was crazy and the voices in his head told him to sort of bullshit.
- I chose to give Shiloh schizophrenia and have him be the hero of the story. He struggles with not just his disorder, but with survivors guilt. At the start of the story he is truly the only survivor of the Withergate massacre, purely because his grandmother knew shit was going south and pulled him from the school, so he feels like he should have died along with his friends, that maybe he could have done something. And this guilt is used against him.
- I love dark, haunting mysteries and creepy abandoned buildings, but I’m also a sucker for romance. Feng and Shiloh are one of my absolute favourite pairings. They’re fun to write, to draw and I feel they balance each other really well. Feng is what keeps Shiloh grounded, reminding him to take care of himself by leaving helpful notes like shower and eat lunch and stuff like that and listening to him whenever Shiloh needs to vent his feelings and fears. Shiloh in return encourages Feng to follow his passion for art, whereas before he was told no you won’t make money from it, and Shiloh is just like why not tho?
- I’m yammering on too much Jesus Christ.
Among Blood and Dirt
- I fucking love post apocalyptic settings. Especially zombie ones, but they get so much shit these days because of how overdone they are.
- Also have another hero/main protagonist who is no-one special and never will be. They’re just someone who was at the wrong place at the wrong time but wants to save people because it’s the right thing to do.
- Rook could have just thrown away the parcel and not have anything to do with it, but he chooses to press on because who else can? And Rook was originally meant to be the broody reluctant hero, but instead he’s the sweetest thing who believes in doing what’s right, but also has to deal with the consequences of it. And I think he’s going to go through a lot more maturity throughout the book.
- Tanner came a long way too, he was originally a villain, one who would try to steal the parcel from Rook and kill him. He was also going to be a hell of a lot more unhinged, as one would be after being enslaved, tortured and forced to watch the same happen to other people over and over again. But as I kept writing him Tanner became a lot more grounded and I love him so much more now. He still keeps doing what he likes, running his shop and collecting knick knacks, but he’s clearly still haunted by his past. He’s sick of suffering and death but when he sees that Rook clearly needs help he does, and I think he’s more encouraged by Rook’s bravery and determination than he lets on.
I think I went off topic a good bit and I do apologize. I’m going to tag @alizans @reining-in-the-fire-writing @acebelle and @ava-burton-writing if you guys want to do this :)

I have all the questions for you, and excuse me if I’m being dense but... what are the fostered books about? I’m not asking for spoilers, but I’m Intrigued to know the general details of it! Again apologies if you’ve covered this I’m new here hello
Hellooooo Anon, welcome to this blog, happy to have you here. :) This is actually an excellent question because, while I talk about this series a lot on here, and they’ve made up five out of the eight books I’ve written, I’ve somehow managed to not actually give much information on what they’re about. lol. So thank you for reminding me to actually talk about these books and their general plot! I know you asked for general details, but since I’ve never really given much of a detailed answer for this question, I’m going to use this post as a reference point for the future!
So… The FOSTERED books are sort of this strange amalgamation of all the things I’ve enjoyed since I started the series when I was 13, ‘til now, at age 16. Some general shtuff about the series:
- I pants all the books
- All the book titles start with the first letter of every major character’s name (because 13 year old me thought this was very cool)
- Though it’s a large series, it’s got a relatively small cast
- I am not seeking publication for this series, so I mean, if you have spoilery questions, don’t really mind answering those because this series, nor it’s characters are going to be in the public eye
- I can’t really settle on a genre for it because it started out as a dystopian (I would say this ‘dystopian’ phase of the series lasted from books 1-mostly 3), but now it’s not really a traditional dystopian, if that makes any sense! The setting is weird, because it started out as very much in the distant future, with classic dystopian-ish rules, but as the books have progressed, it’s gotten very contemporary. At this point, it’s sort of dystopian but takes place in this world, with the same rules besides a few factors which will be mentioned in the synopsis below!
- I have considered possibly re-writing this series, but have decided against it for a couple reasons. A) I think it’d be very, very difficult for me to get back into the heads of these characters as if it were the first time I’d been writing them, and B) the idea isn’t all that unique, and the earlier books are so hard to salvage, lol
- The series is intended to be YA, but I would say books 5+6 are prettyyyyy much not YA
- I wrote up a list of themes for these books to give my best friend some examples when she was writing an essay, and a few I noted that stand out are: self-discovery, the unreliability of love in relationships, moral ambiguity, reality exists only in the eye of the beholder, losing one’s mind
- I do have the bones of a re-write planned that my sister, @sarahkelsiwrites and I brainstormed back in 2016. Buuuut, I’m no longer re-writing the books, so that re-write is sort of a flop, ha. I actually wrote the first chapter of this re-write, so maybe I’ll share it in an Old Writing post?
Soooo, now that that has been said, here’s the kinda bad blurb I have up on my Novels page (which you can check out HERE if you’d like to read up about the rest of my books):
Taking place in the not-too-distant future where children who’ve committed crimes, are neglected, or have chosen to are sent to behavioural detention centres – what everyone else that’s not the government likes to call foster homes – FOSTERED follows fifteen-year-old Reeve – who’s lived two years of her life in a ‘foster home’ after being accused of her sister’s murder. When she causes an accident that leads her to escape her home, she stumbles across a group of kids, who like her, have gone through the same scarring lifestyle and are also on the run. She makes bonds with them and everything seems in its place until she finds out that a team of hunters are searching for her because of the same accident that continues to haunt her memories. Unable to remember anything that happened from the event, she then learns that maybe all things don’t point to her – what really happened on the day she escaped?
(that rhetorical question tho)
SO yes. Book one pretty much follows the structure of a lot of dystopians out there! I would say this synopsis is pretty accurate to book one, but as for the other books, not so much, since like I mentioned before, the books strangely diverged from this dystopian story to a not very dystopian story. This plot pretty much ceases to exist by the time book four rolls around. Book four is also the point in the series where everything goes from pretty light and fluffy to very dark.
Since I don’t really have much to say in terms of the plot, because in all honesty, this series lacks a very structured plot, and is sort of all over the place, and mostly mention characters on here, I’m going to briefly go over the major characters in this series.
This is a cast photo @sarahkelsiwrites drew for me:
Tumblr media
But here’s a little about each major individual character (which is pretty much the top row) in mini character profiles:
First up, we have our protagonist, Reeve:
Tumblr media
Name: Reeve Aldaine
Age: 15 in book one, currently 19 in book six
Birthday: April 13th
Nicknames: I think she is successfully the only major character in this book without a lasting nickname
MBTI type: ISFP
If she had a favourite band: Daughter
Songs that remind me of her: Made Of Stone, Numbers, Smother, and The Right Way Around by Daughter
Some other stuff:
I’ve been writing with Reeve for the longest out of all of my protagonists, and it’s been really interesting to see how much she’s grown, and how much she’s stayed the same. She’s a fairly quiet, yet determined person who doesn’t mind speaking her mind when necessary. She is a very emotional person, but depending on the situation, will choose to show what she feels, or keep it to herself. Her voice as the series progresses becomes more and more ambiguous, and at times is super distant. I’ve had a few parts of book five in particular narrated in verse, as well as third and second person. She’s sort of an unreliable narrator, and is very poetically existential, but it’s super fun to write her.
And now here’s a little about our first supporting character and love interest, Foster:
Tumblr media
Name: Foster Creed
Age: 16 in book one, 20 turning 21 in book six
Birthday: August 23rd
Nicknames: (via his birthday post) Foster (because Foster actually isn’t his name), Auggie (from Harrison), Prince Charming (from everyone in the entire world), Wary Sidekick (from Reeve hhhhhaaaaahhaa), The Other One (from Lonan mostly but also from everyone)
MBTI type: INFJ
If he had a favourite band: Strangely enough, I don’t really see Foster listening to music ? I don’t think he’d have a preference, in all honesty. Since his friends listen mostly to the rock spectrum, he’d probably listen to their music, but don’t see him with a concrete favourite band.
Songs that remind me of him: Something by The Beatles, @sarahkelsiwrites says Seashore by The Regrettes, Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran
Some other stuff:
Foster, out of all my characters is the one I make fun of the most. :) He’s also probably the nicest, and I’m too mean to him, but when you live that cinnamon roll life, and I live the cinnamon roll life, and also, don’t confront people, there’s bound to be some teasing. Foster’s name isn’t Foster (ha, it’s August, like the Rush kind because I thought this was a great idea??), and overall, he’s a very decent dude. Out of all these major characters, he’s the best at keeping his cool under all situations, and pretending he’s A-Okay when he’s not, lol poor boy. He acts as the voice of reason in his friend group. When he gets sassy, it’s an accomplishment, and I hold mini celebrations and send endless excerpts to @sarahkelsiwrites, because he’s a very reserved, nice, quiet person.
And now for our second supporting character, Harrison:
Tumblr media
Name: Harrison Frost
Age: 17 in book one, 21 in book six
Birthday: November 3rd
Nicknames: (via his birthday post) Ris (from Foster but now everyone uses it ha foster never gets the creds), Frost (from Lonan who needs to stop calling him this 2k17), Waffelina (from @sarahkelsiwrites), Cinnamon Head (from Reeve)
MBTI type: ENFP
If he had a favourite band: Harrison’s music taste is vastly different from mine, and like Foster, isn’t really big on music, so probably wouldn’t have a favourite band or artist. He would like some rock music, and then would like trap music. Yes.
Songs that remind me of him: Paper Planes by Victoria Duffield, I’m Not Making Out With You by Surf Curse, Metabolism by The Strokes
Some other stuff:
Harrison is actually the character that drove me to continue writing this series, since I was pretty meh on it after chapter one of book one. He’s a very goofy guy who sometimes needs to take things a little more seriously. From books 1-3, he’s always been the ‘leader’ figure of his friend group (which consisted of just Foster and Reeve), and while he has some pitfalls here and there, does his job relatively well (very relatively). But, as the books have progressed, he’s also mellowed out, and matured quite a bit. He’s also great at pretending things are A-Okay, but unlike Foster, gets more worked up if challenged. Since book three, he’s hidden his true state of mind from the main cast, and like everyone in the story, has gotten progressively more melancholic. But yeah, overall, is a pretty chill, funny character who often brings humour to the story when it gets darker.
Aaaaand lastly, the character I mention most on here probably, Lonan:
Tumblr media
Name: Lonan Clark
Age: 18/19 in book two, 21 in book six
Birthday: December 9th
Nicknames: Loner (from Harrison/@sarahkelsiwrites), Lone (from Reeve)
MBTI type: ISTJ
If he had a favourite band: The Strokes
Songs that remind me of him: Two Kinds of Happiness by The Strokes, Hot N’ Cold by Katy Perry, Blackbird by The Beatles
Some other stuff:
I loosely refer to Lonan as my favourite character out of all my characters, and he’s made a really big impact in my life. Unlike Foster, Reeve, and Harrison (who I call the original gang), he doesn’t make his appearance until midway through book two. Lonan is a really rigid character. His beliefs are very concrete and logical, and the first thing he does in any situation is analyze the problem. Thus, his foundation as a character is pretty harsh, and not really feeling. Strangely enough, even though he’s very logical and makes that clear, his decisions are often very illogical and brash to those they affect. He started out as book two’s antagonist, then transformed into book three’s anti-hero, and from books 4 onward, he’s now officially a good guy. I love Lonan a lot because of how complex and morally-grey he is. He’s the kind of character I like to pick apart, frame by frame.
I *think* that’s basically it for the basics? I’m sorry this was super long, I just realized I’ve never really answered this question, so here’s a bit of a master post for further reference! If you have any more questions about this series and/or its characters, let me know and I’d love to answer them. :) Thanks for asking, hopefully this was enjoyable!

okay but would i be my actual trash self if i didn't send you atlashrike for the ship thing?
SEND ME A SHIP.  —  accepting!
Tumblr media
WHO IS THE WEREWOLF AND WHO IS THE HUNTER?  —  i’m voting werewolf dylan who’s trying to keep the panic at minimum bc he knows he’s less of a danger than he seems bc he tries to stay where there’s as little people as possible and he’s also this close to finding a cure and the human bf daniel is the hunter who grows tired of being told to ignore the problem and goes on his own way himself to try and kill the beast and then the moon starts to go down and dylan shifts back and ohmygodwhathaveidonewhydidn’t youtellme
WHO IS THE MERMAID AND WHO IS THE FISHERMAN?  —  mermaid danny. okay. and none of that creepy deep sea shit, we’re in it for the long locks and beautiful singing voices. i just realised this may be yet another au in which dylan might end up drowning wh o oo ps. altho ngl the opposite could be interesting too, tho maybe less fisherman and more scientist type of thing for danny who just rly wants to find out what the big fishy creature all the locals are talking about is and oh?? hello??
WHO IS THE WITCH AND WHO IS THE FAMILIAR?  —  is this even a question. i mean i know that even in the mainverse one of them tries rly hard to read about magic while the other has the need for attention of a horny housecat  s o
WHO IS THE BARISTA AND WHO IS THE COFFEE ADDICT?  —  do u have any idea how much coffee dylan consumes. also danny is just abut the right age to have accidentally gotten stuck in an old summer job bc economy is shit and card tricks are fun but don’t quite pay the bills so now i’m stuck here making the 68th unicorn frappuchino today but hey at least this one older dude comes every day and orders one simple fucking coffee and i can talk to him and let my hands rest for a minute or two and u know what he’s kinda hot?
WHO IS THE PROFESSOR AND WHO IS THE TA?  —  i mean.
WHO IS THE KNIGHT AND WHO IS THE PRINCE?  —  knight dylan and prince danny, obviously. tho let’s not think abt the saving from a tower cliche and just consider the daily life of crown prince danny and guard-turned-friend-turned-more dylan and all the sneaking around bc danny’s probably been promised to someone at like age three and class differences and homophobia and stuff. and how it most fucking definitely would be dylan who paid the price if they were to get caught. look i made three in a row that weren’t angsty i got withdrawals.
WHO IS THE TEACHER AND WHO IS THE SINGLE PARENT?  —  omg dylan as the single parent. i know it’d probably be easier the other way around but let’s imagine for a moment danny being all smart bc he’s overqualified for his job and dylan trying rly hard not to break the poor boy’s illusion of being the smart one in the room bc he might look tired and have to drop off his kid 40 mins too early sometimes and his marriage fell apart almost instantly but he’s still an fbi agent with a ton of unrelated studies on the side and god if we weren’t here to talk abt how my child is specifically getting into trouble for trying to outsmart everyone i would intellectually whoop ur ass
WHO IS THE WRITER AND WHO IS THE EDITOR?  —  oh my god the eye as a magazine or a newspaper i’m fucking crying just thinking abt this au. altho considering this is probably meant to be like the novel-writing type… yeah, dylan is still the boss lmao.

Hitaka for the send me a ship!
send me a ship
and i’ll tell you…
who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter: It would probably be Mitaka as the werewolf (or more of a werePUPPY, really.) and Hux as the ruthless hunter, and Hux isn’t so sure why he’d even have to kill such an absolutely adorable and way too cute thing.who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman: Mitaka is with his dark hair and eyes and heavenly voice the perfect candidate for the Selkie Legend. I think Hux would be more of a no nonsense type of person though, and try to actually win Mitaka’s favour instead of trying to control him. (This is seriously what pisses me off 99% of the time with these stories. She doesn’t suddenly love the fisherman, she’s tied to him.) Maybe they just stay being friends, fishing and singing together, without any bonds.who’s the witch and who’s the familiar: This could go either way, but Mitaka as an adorable witch with a familiar that’s ready to wreck the shit out of the world when some dares to touch his master is just too awesome of an opportunity to passwho’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict: Barista!Mitaka who makes the best coffee in town for the always stressed young CEO of the First Order Industries. Since Mitaka doesn’t do the “take-away” business thing tho, Hux has to come down from his office personally. After some time, the little café starts to become his second office. After some more time, Hux slaps his company into the building that is above Mitaka’s café. Everyone is happy af.who’s the professor and who’s the TA: Age wise I’d say Professor Hux and TA Mitaka, but a kind of absent-mindedly Professor Mitaka that has to be supervised by his always kind of irked TA Hux is cute too. Hux can never stay mad with him though, because Mitaka just cooks too heavenly.who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss): This really can go either way, a smol Knight Mitaka who has to prove himself all the time is cool, but Hux would be more of a “Knight Templar” for “Prince(ss) Mitaka” who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent: Uff, that’s a tough one, though Mitaka as the teacher of Hux’s young daughter would be fun too, especially if said daughter (and the rest of the class) is very approving of this relationship :Dwho’s the writer and who’s the editor: I really like absent-mindedly artists/writers and Hux just yells “EDITOR!” to me, personality-wise…

you already did Thulaz so do your Antok/OC and Kolivan/OC ships, and Shallura please
finally got this done sorry it took like an entire day
okay so i already did shallura which is here…
and i get to talk about my bbys ;v; i’ve been meaning to post about my galra oc’s for weeks and just never had
this got a little long so it’s going under a cut
Kolivan / Evren
who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter
Kolivan as the werewolf and Evren as an everyday hiker who just so happened to find him… and she’s not scared of him at all lol… probably still talks to him as if she were talking to a normal person even if he probably appears to be an overgrown wolf that accidentally stumbled across her on the trail.
who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman
Kolivan moves out to the coast because he was told it’d help with his stress and he needs a vacation something awful, and he ends up accidentally meeting a mermaid while he’s trying to learn how to fish (because apparently it’s relaxing but the second you accidentally hook a mermaid it becomes less relaxing and more stressful than it needs to be)… to be fair to him tho, evren takes the whole debacle extremely well
who’s the witch and who’s the familiar
Evren as the witch (druid??) and kolivan as her shapeshifter familiar person… some kind of big cat or perhaps an eagle… some kind of bird of prey would probably fit him pretty well too.
who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict
I could see Kolivan as a coffee addict (he probably doesn’t sleep hardly ever he’s got so much work to do… and when he does sleep it’s just a cat nap), which means Evren’s the really friendly barista who tries to make small talk while she’s filling his order and Kolivan humors her because she’s exceedingly polite.
who’s the professor and who’s the TA
Not a fan of professor/ta au’s, but if we’re talking professor/professor au’s I’d definitely be game for these two cause they’re the same age (evren is actually old by a couple of months lol)… I could see Kolivan being a Criminal Justice professor and Evren works in the campus library as a reference assistant… and like nobody realizes they’re totally married even tho kolivan frequently speaks very highly of his (alleged) wife… so his students are always surprised to find out his wife is the very motherly reference librarian who frequently helps them find shit because all of them are hopeless with the database
who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)
kolivan as a king who is regarded as exceedingly stern, but also fair to his subjects… evren is a knight, who functions as a bodyguard (even tho kolivan doesn’t need one, it’s more of a formality) and adviser to the king because of her battle experience… ironically, if you replace “king” with “leader of the blade” then that’s the relationship they actually have lol
who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent
I really enjoy the idea of Evren as the teacher and Kolivan as the single parent who has no fucking idea what he’s doing but he’s trying really hard
who’s the writer and who’s the editor
Kolivan as a writer and Evren as his editor. Historical Non-fiction me thinks…
Antok / Myrek
who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter
I have this whole idea of antok being a werewolf and myrek being a poor guy who lost his dog in the woods or something so he’s out there and it’s getting dark and he accidentally runs into this huge wolf, has a mini freak out, but calms down when the wolf leaves him alone (antok would have a policy of, you respect my space, I respect yours), but damn it it’s getting dark and he’s not going to leave this guy by himself in the middle of the woods at night… I have no idea where I was going with this but alas
who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman
Myrek manages to hook something and it feels like it’s huge, and he has to fight to reel it in… oh good gods now he’s got this huge mermaid on the end of his line and they just kind of stare at each for a good minute before anyone does anything… myrek freaks out, not cause he’s scared, but he just hooked a mermaid he’s gotta get the hook out before he hurts himself… and then after myrek gets the hook out they start meeting up sometimes to chat :> (and antok is convinced this guy isn’t eating enough so he keeps bringing myrek fish like a cat brings you a dead mouse)
who’s the witch and who’s the familiar
Myrek as the witch (druid??) and Antok as his shapeshifting familiar person thing… hmm… I’m thinking a jaguar?? Or a cave lion (which I know are extinct but they were gigantic so)… sits by the fire and looks intimidating so that nobody messes with the smol bf when coming to him for spells, enchantments, and potions and anyone who does probably hears antok snarl and immediately thinks yeah okay I’d rather not die tonight better be nice to this person here
who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict
Antok is the “coffee addict” (I guess) and Myrek would be the barista… myrek writes encouraging messages on the cup whenever it looks like antok’s having a bad day :>
who’s the professor and who’s the TA
Nope…
who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)
Myrek as a prince and Antok as the knight… not that myrek needs rescuing, he just feels better if he has back up… and antok is the one who taught him to fight because myrek wanted to make sure he could defend himself should the need arise :P
who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent
Myrek as the teacher (he’d totally teach elementary school, myrek really loves cubs ;v;) and Antok isn’t a single parent, but he probably got his friends’ kid to babysit cause thace and ulaz went on vacation, so antok has to take care of keef for a little while and myrek gives him his number just in case antok ever needs help with keef (cause antok is good with keef it’s just… he’s better at just watching him for the afternoon y’know??)
who’s the writer and who’s the editor
If I were to write this au, I’d probably write it so that myrek just edits antok’s essays for whatever the galra equivalent of college is because antok’s not a bad writer, he just needs someone to look them over and myrek is very happy to help (also antok thinks he’s being subtle and because myrek can be dense as a brick sometimes he doesn’t initially realize that antok is only asking for help with his essays because he wants to spend time with myrek)

Yuuri Lucis Caelum is the crown prince and heir to the throne of Lucis. He and his companions are sent on a journey to Altissia to attend Yuuri’s wedding with Lord Viktor Nikiforov, the Oracle.
Themes
Final Fantasy XV’s themes revolve around Noctis growth from Prince to King. Learning how to become selfless and trusting of his companions and friends.
For Prince Yuuri’s themes, Yuuri would grow in confidence and personal strength. Yuuri is already selfless, but is not ready to rule an entire kingdom. He would learn to trust in his friends and himself, becoming a king in his own rite during his adventures.
Plot/Synopsis
Niflheim’s fake treaty and attack on Yuuri’s home has him scrambling to regroup with Minami(?) in Lestallum. He worries for the safety of his fiance, Viktor, until Vicchan arrives with word that Viktor is safe and in Altissia.
They continuously run into a stranger named Chris/Ardyn who helps them, but also appears to have ulterior motives.
Yuuri and his friends take on multiple quests across Eos, as well as venturing into the dungeons where the Royal Tombs lay. These are where Yuuri is confronted by his ancestors and gains their help in the fight to combat the darkness.
From Lestallum, the group must make way to Cape Caem, where they will use a boat that had belonged to Yuuri’s father, the King, to travel to Altissia.
At this point, Yuuri has already gained the alliance of Ramuh and Titan. In Altissia, the plan is to gain the trust of the Leviathan during the Rite, initiated by the Oracle. Yuuri struggles greatly in his battle with Leviathan. Occupied with battling the Leviathan, he is helpless as Viktor is stabbed by the nefarious Chris/Ardyn. Once he finally gains the goddess’ blessing, he is able to quickly administer a phoenix down to Viktor, saving his life, before he falls unconscious himself.
While Viktor was saved from death, he remains in a stasis coma. With the Oracle powers locked away until he awakens, the world becomes consumed in darkness, with daylight disappearing rapidly.
When he awakes days later, he is relieved to hear that Viktor lived, but horrified and wrecked with guilt upon hear that Sara has lost her leg in the battles around Altissia. He can’t look either of the twins in the eye and refuses to listen to anyone about his guilt, choosing to remain at Viktor’s bedside until they are forced to continue their journey. It puts a strain on the group as they continue on to the Imperial capital. Sara remains with the group, silently working through her pain, both physical and emotional. Michele is angered by Yuuri’s insistent silence and self imposed isolation.
Everything comes to a head after a particularly nasty daemon fight at a Royal tomb. Sara, fed up with the group tension, forces Yuuri to realize he had no right to sulk over Sara’s injury when Sara herself had no time to do so herself. The group's constant movement and journey prevented it. ..She is grateful for how much Yuuri cares, but is insistent that he get over it. She says she is strong and that she can handle whatever the empire may throw at her. When Yuuri tries to apologize, she stops him again, saying that a king will face countless situations just like hers and that his apologies will mean nothing if they do not follow by actions.
As protective as Michele is of Sara, he is relieved to see her spirit burn bright in these dark times. He too tells Yuuri that his actions will speak infinitely louder than his words, and that if he is truly sorry for Sara’s injury, then he must prove by taking down the empire and Chris/Ardyn.
Roused by the twins talks, Yuuri feels ready to head to the imperial capital. However, on the way there, Yuuri expresses and uncharacteristic bout of anger when he sees Chris/Ardyn on the train. He confronts him and is blinded by his rage. When he attacks Chris/Ardyn, it is revealed that it was actually Phichit, and that Yuuri had been fooled. When Chris/Ardyn and the daemons are dealt with for the time being, Yuuri is yet again subjected to incredible guilt for attacking and leaving Phichit behind. Before Yuuri can suffer an anxiety attack, he's forced into action as they enter the imperial city.
Upon their abrupt arrival, Yuuri is separated from the twins and forced to continue on his own. He finally realizes it’s time to confront his fears and wear the Ring of Lucis if he wants a fighting chance to find his friends and rescue Phichit.
He journey’s through the compound bravely, taking down all enemies in his way, desperate to find his friends and take back his home. When they are all finally reunited, Phichit reveals the secret that he himself was a test subject in the Niflheim labs. The friends reassure him that his origins do not matter to them and that their friendship can handle much more than that.
From then, the friends face many great enemies until Chris/Ardyn give Yuuri an ultimatum of either leaving the Crystal or his friends. Yuuri decides he has to trust his friends and do what’s best for his future kingdom.
Yuuri is taken by the Crystal where he slumber for ten long years, of which he spends in self reflection. When he finally reemerges he finds the world has become overtaken by darkness. Viktor had never awoken from his coma. When Yuuri asks about Viktor’s whereabouts, he finds out that both Viktor and his brother Yuri were forced into hiding and that they reside in Lestallum with just about everyone else in Lucis.
(Yuuri wonders if the visions of Viktor that he would see during his slumber were truly figments of his imagination.)
He is finally reunited with his friends in Hammerhead, where they tell him what has happened the past ten years. Sara has gained a prosthetic for her leg and hunts daemons frequently with Michele. Phichit also does his own hunting, and even made friends with some of the other hunters (Leo, Guang Hong, Seung-gil).
The friends have one last camp together before heading for Insomnia, where Yuuri must finally confront Chris/Ardyn who he learned is the immortal embodiment of darkness. With the help of the Gods and the Kings of Lucis, including his father, Yuuri is able to put an end to Chris/Ardyn and return the world to light. But Yuuri is unable to leave the fight unharmed. With the darkness finally destroyed, Yuuri returns the powers he burrowed and is forced into yet another slumber.
However, this time it does not last nearly as long. As he sleeps, he dreams and sees the Oracle and himself, together at last, with the blessings of the Gods. Viktor tells him that they will be together soon, once he arrives to Insomnia.
Yuri brings his brother to Insomnia at the insistences of the Crownguard, both for their further safety, and to finally bring the King and Oracle together. When brought together at last, they both awaken to see the other. While it may have been more than ten years since they had last physically seen the other, they have always been with the other in their times of deep slumber. The love the shared as children had only grown and evolved as they also did.
The wedding may have previously been for the treaty, but now it was for love.
King Yuuri and Lord Viktor wed, and with their marriage comes countless years of peace.
Other Stories
Sidestories of certain quests such as the chocobo quests, photo ops, frog catching, and daemon hunting. Dungeons as well!
Prequels of the four friends.
Prequel of Viktor and Yuuri as children
A possible AU where Lord Viktor was able to fight alongside Yuuri.
