Thinking of fucked up au where not only was Sentinel ripping out tcogs from the miners, he was also ripping out their gestational tanks too. Instead of disposing of the tanks however, they're simply hooked up to a system and used to make the next generation of workers. This comes out after Sentinel's death of course and not only is it yet another violation of their bodies, the ex-miner's now have to deal with the fact there's a very good chance they have offspring out there they never knew about that could be as far away as the opposite side of Iacon or as close as in the same barracks.

I do kind of hope a series gives us a Megatron and Optimus with a “strangers to respected enemies/rivals to potentially more (at least in the fanfics)” sort of dynamic

Because I feel like that doesn’t really happen, at least not to my knowledge. I feel like if Megatron has a respect for Optimus, it’s usually due to their long, shared history, not something that develops over the course of the series

And I know some people say that’s what happens in TFA, but no, it really doesn’t. The two never reach the “respect” part, with Optimus hating Megatron for being an evil villain, and Megatron seeing him as a nuisance at best and never bothering to learn his name, only calling him it once like 2 minutes after being told it earlier in the fight, which I think in context doesn’t really count for much

I just feel like it’d be neat to properly explore, especially since I’m realizing we seem to have it fairly consistently be that they were “old friends” for a while now, let’s shake it up a little

Sorry guys just got full fledge body slammed with the idea of Ashe not actually making it through the Trickster leaving her body.. an AU where there was too much unbelievable strain because of the long lasting period she was possessed, the fact it was so sudden. The way her body was thrown around. The way the Trickster split parts of her open to make room for itself.

An AU where when Mark’s holding her body, rough textured from bright red scars and the faint burned in lettering of ruins, blood seeping onto his hands from her skin, from where it was ripped open to accommodate the Trickster yet it no longer resides, she’s not breathing. Her body was pushed well too far past her limit, Mark’s holding his child, but his child’s not there. She’ll never wake up again, with her mother now. Possible been with her for months - who’s to say she was somewhere still in her body the whole time? The Trickster doesn’t need an extra soul with him, all he needed from her was the girls body.

Au where the boys were fighting for the girls corpse without even knowing it. She’s still being puppeted so how should they? Where Mark starts screaming and wailing when he realizes she’s not breathing, no heartbeat to be found, her blood staining his clothes and hands and arms. She isn’t even allowed to look peaceful, body in shreds from the takeover.

They all fought so hard. They were supposed to have their friend back, Mark was supposed to have the only thing he ever fought for back. Instead they have her body. Her body but not her, they’ll never have her again.

Its funny dipping my toes into Transformers fic (some bayverse longfic that've been on my to read list for ages) when I've been deep into the Silmarillion fandom for the past few years.

Like, okay, elves are immortal, they theoretically live forever, and so do transformers. But the TIMESCALE here is just–

The oldest of the elves is probably like, under 20,000.

The YOUNGEST transformers are over 4 or 5 million.

Its just kind of funny that the immortality in the Tolkien fandoms is a really really important part of the world building, and the story, and how the characters view things... Elrond is one of the wisest and oldest of elves by the time lotr rolls around and he's around 6,000 and change.

But in transformers its more of an 'oh by the way' thing. Bumblebee has been around for eons and he's a youngster.

Its a fun switch up.

Jacobson's Basic algebra 1 gives such a nice argument for why algebraic numbers have minimum polymials, making it a corollary of the fact that polynomial rings over fields are principal ideal domains. These are defined as the smallest subring and subfield of E respectively that contain both F and u. If E = F(u) for some u ∈ E, then E/F is called a simple field extension.

Let F(u)/F be an arbitrary simple field extension. Consider the polynomial ring F[X]. By the universal property of polynomial rings (which is essentially what one means when they say that X is an indeterminate), there is a unique ring homomorphism F[X] -> F(u) that sends any a ∈ F to itself and that sends X to u (you can think of this homomorphism as evaluation of a polynomial at u).
