Have you met the community's number one criminal and bane of our existence, the Primal Aspid?
Yes and I now understand why everyone hates that little evil creature. It has better aim than the fricking Final Boss what is this

ive been playing an absurd amount of risk of rain lately and ive started to wonder about a BW au where they ended up on petrichor V (maybe the preds replacing the contact light and the maximals replacing safe travels?) so heres my altmode ideas for the cast
rattrap: blind vermin > spitter
depth charge: one of the wandering vagrant variants (maybe the juveniles from the first game)
inferno: beetle guard (megatron has the queens gland?)
megatron: scorch wurm > magma worm > gilded wurm
dinobot: elder lemurian (dinobot II can be acrid cause i love acrid)
optimus primal: stone golem > stone titan > aurelionite (he fuses with him instead of prime)
tigatron: mini mushrum
airrazor: swift/alloy vulture
tigerhawk: kur ska the heretic (idk just makes sense to me)
cheetor: wisp > greater wisp > ancient wisp
rampage: void devastator (sand crab could work too but i wanted him to be a boss to point out his power)
blackarachnia and tarantulas: mechanical spiders
waspinator: aspid
terrorsaur: blind pest (different from vermin, pests are fliers)
quickstrike: lemurian calvary
silverbolt: evolved lemurian
scorponok: sand crab
ravage: imp
rhinox: bighorn bison
i mightve forgotten one or two of them.. oops

If I'm being honest, it took me longer to beat two primal aspids then it took me to beat the radiance
Primal aspid is the real hardest boss and I'm tired of ignoring it.

Looking through Hollow Knight's negative reviews is interesting because there are three main types:
1. The ones that just say that it's a good game, put into negative as a troll. Don't do this. This hurts the rating of the game.
2. The ones complaining entirely about either primal aspids or Markoth. Primal aspids are an annoying flying enemy that shoots a spread of three projectiles. They are primarily found in one late-game area and aren't too much of an issue except in the Colosseum, and you can still one-shot them with great slash with strength. Markoth is boss in the same late-game area, is entirely optional unless you are going for the difficult Pantheon endings, and even then, is only an issue within the Pantheon boss rushes, and not when you fight him the first time.
3. The ones who have a problem with the game's genre. You can see that this is a metroidvania. You could understand that you just aren't a fan of the genre. But no, you complain about having to backtrack. Also in this vein are people complaining that it isn't like Dark Souls. Just because it's called the Dark Souls of metroidvanias doesn't mean it's a soulslike. It means it is tough, and has a somewhat similar money recovery mechanic.
You also get people who complain about weird stuff. 'Bosses are far away from checkpoints' most of them aren't. Soul Master is annoying to get back to, but most major bosses have benches near them. 'The combat is too simple' the basics are simple, but it is incredibly dynamic and has an enormously high skill ceiling, and great boss design keeps things interesting. 'There isn't any fast-travel' ‽‽ There literally is, the stag system and the tramways.

i've been playing the pale court mod for hollow knight. its EXTREMELY impressive but also very hard. it feels almost exactly like a full real dlc.
so far i've defeated dryya, isma, and ze'mer. i think my favorite was dryya, probably because many of the attacks are familiar.
isma would be my favorite if it weren't for two things:
the invincible ceiling gulkas in part two of the fight. screw them. they are annoying and i think i should be able to kill them if i want
that one attack where she throws acid. she doesn't use it often enough to allow practice dodging it, and the tell looks SO MUCH like the other attack where she shoots vines at you i almost always got hit. also, it is extremely primal aspid-like behavior and nobody needs more of that in their life
with ze'mer, i don't feel like i actually got good at it. it feels more like i only got lucky :/ (skill issue, not design issue)
for all three i used something along the lines of weaversong + grubsong + sprintmaster + shaman stone
i tried hegemol and the abyss parkour but i am having a lot of trouble with them (i don't really like parkour in this game much anyway)
the creators really went above and beyond with the music! lots of appropriate thematic callbacks. each arena also has an entire separate full track that only plays during the ~10 secs it takes to walk up to the boss before you fight them.
the art also matches base game really well. i particularly appreciated ze'mer's sprites, what with all the fully animated flips and jumps she does
TLDR: go download pale court if you like hollow knight and want a challenge

Hello, been a bit :]
I'm at 110%!
Thr last things to finish are the Patheon of the Knight (working through it), and the Trial of the Fool
Do you have any advice for the latter? /genq
Hello again!
But ough, the Colosseum trials are the one combat thing that I struggle to give tips for </3
I'll do my best, though!!
The good thing, at least, is that you should have lots of practice with God Tamer at this point. The real issue is just getting to her!
(Though if you're concerned about her fight, you could always practice against her in the Hall of Gods!)
I don't know how applicable this'll be to the Trial of the Fool specifically, but if you're in a situation where the arena has not been altered and there's only a Shielded Fool left on the field, I believe you can continuously safely Dream Nail it for SOUL and heal, if you're careful? So you can use it to get back to full health and full SOUL before moving onto the next wave.
In the section with the Death Loodles, I believe I would just stay under the middle platform at the bottom and wait for them to come near me. You might also be able to Dream Nail them there and heal up?
In the section where you don't have much space to move and Garpedes are moving vertically, remember to Dream Nail them if you aren't full on SOUL! And you might have time to heal one mask at a time, but I'm not certain.
What's by far my personal least favourite part of the trial is the section where the floor is entirely spikes and you're forced to cling to the wall while fighting against flying enemies. You can oneshot the Armoured Squits with one Great Slash (or Dash Slash), or with one Shade Soul if you have Shaman Stone equipped!
Let me know if there are any other specific sections you want advice for, though!
Remember that Shade Soul goes through walls, and thus will also go through the platforms!
As for Charms... I'm honestly not too sure. Really, any sort of typical generic battle build should work, I think. Obviously, Unbreakable Strength and Shaman Stone are basically always good, so they're gonna be good here too. Same goes for Quick Slash, and Mark of Pride could likely also be useful. I could see Nailmaster's Glory being helpful if you decide to make use of Nail Arts! Dream Wielder could also be good, for that faster Dream Nailing speed and increase in SOUL gain. And Grubsong might be useful as well?
Not sure how much it'll help, but beneath the cut, I'm gonna list all the non-boss enemies that appear in the trial and the number of hits it takes to kill them from various sources!
These numbers are also assuming that Unbreakable Strength and Shaman Stone are equipped.
----------
Note that when talking about Shade Soul, potential double hits are not taken into account.
Finally, also note that Great Slash and Dash Slash deal the same amount of damage, so whatever I say for Great Slash also applies to Dash Slash.
Heavy Fool: 90 health. 3 nail hits, 3 Shade Souls, or 2 Great Slashes
Sturdy Fool: 80 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Armoured Squit: 40 health. 2 nail hits, 1 Shade Soul, 1 Great Slash
Shielded Fool: 65 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Primal Aspid: 35 health. 2 nail hits, 1 Shade Soul, 1 Great Slash
Winged Fool: 70 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Sharp Baldur: 65 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Battle Obble: 70 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Furious Vengefly: 40 health. 2 nail hits, 1 Shade Soul, 1 Great Slash
Death Loodle: 45 health. 2 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 1 Great Slash
Mantis Traitor: 74 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Mantis Petra: 45 health. 2 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 1 Great Slash
Soul Twister: 35 health. 2 nail hits, 1 Shade Soul, 1 Great Slash
Mistake and Folly: 13 health. 1 nail hit
Volt Twister: 80 health. 3 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
Lesser Mawlek: 60 health. 2 nail hits, 2 Shade Souls, 2 Great Slashes
- One nail hit with the Pure Nail and Fragile/Unbreakable Strength deals 31.5 damage (unsure if it rounds up or down, 21 without Strength)
- One Shade Soul with Shaman Stone deals 40 damage (30 without Shaman Stone)
- One Great Slash (or Dash Slash) deals 52 damage (unaffected by Fragile/Unbreakable Strength)

Tier list for which character is better at a certain role in among us, one for each role
Or
Tier list for every boss but as which class they would fit, and how good they would fit in that role
Impostor: Radiance, is a very very good liar and good convincer
Shapeshifter: Nosk, obviously. They're not all that Smart but i reckon they know a few stuffs
Angel: Ogrim/Dung Defender
Engineer: Quirrel, Hornet or Perogi (Primal Aspid room grub). They're all very agile and could reasonably fit in a vent.
Medic: i genuinely have no idea here
And those are all the among us roles i could remember

Ppl are like “hollow knight players are going insane” and it’s always followed by the cutting all the grass video or path of pain with 50 unkillable primal aspids but I think any radiance is a much funnier example. Someone makes a boss meant to be impossible to beat and hk players took it as a challenge and actually beat it. Any radiance 2.0 is released and the same thing happens. They’re on any radiance 3.0 now.

Full body, full-colour illustration commission for sahlor_ (on Twitter) featuring Tiso & God Tamer facing off against a dangerous beast in the Colosseum of Fools!
Worry not, they do manage to defeat the beast, & then take good care of each other! God Tamer does most of the aftercare, though, since Tiso sustained far more injuries than she did lol. I even have a (badly) written thing involving said aftercare, & who knows, maybe I'll draw it sometime~ 😏
Thank you again so much for commissioning me, it was fun and challenging!
Commission info: lrstudio.tumblr.com/post/183548269032 Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/leaphy
I want to talk at length about this commission and what went into finishing it so if you’re curious about that, it’ll be under the cut!
So, this commission was originally going to pretty simple, just Tiso and God Tamer, being pelted by a barrage of infection, against the usual white bg with a circle frame, like so:
Tumblr media
but the more I worked on it, the more I wanted to add to it, and this desire was only fueled by a snippet of context my client provided to me after I showed him the 1st rough draft. I was inspired to take it much further than I planned but I didn’t know if it was something he’d be down for, since it would make the commission that much more expensive and time-consuming
Later, in a tweet, I lamented about wanting to to more with a commission than what I was initially paid to do, and he saw it and somehow caught on and approached me about it. after some discussion, the commission was upgraded to include a background, and audience members. I added the fools later on because the arena looked empty otherwise.
It would have also included the beast but the composition didn’t allow it so it stayed out of frame. and for anyone curious about what looks like, my client wanted it to be this nightmarish hell-beast, also known as
The Primal Aspid Boss
Tumblr media
(Source)
With a background now, a lot of redrawing/redrafting took place. I even ended up redrawing Tiso as well because by the time I had finished with all the inking, my style of drawing him had changed a bit and his outdated look was driving me nuts lol
So, what would have taken me a month to complete, ended up taking me about 7-9 months of work on/off. Mostly due to the p*ndemic making life much more hectic & stressful to really focus on art, plus experiencing frequent burnout, coupled with even more stress. On top of that, the commission involved a very large, very detailed background, with multiple characters, and I wasn’t (and am still not) very confident when it comes to drawing both of those things (much less at the same time) but I wanted to take on the challenge of drawing my two faves in an actual setting, and not just an empty void
But lets be real, it was mostly the p*andemic
That said, I made good progress on it but the burnout got really bad just before I started inking, so in an attempt to fight it off, I decided to start streaming the rest of the commission. Turns out, having an audience to keep me company ended up giving me the much needed push to get through the tedious parts of the inking stage i.e. inking every bit of cobblestone floor and anyone who tuned in to watch my streaming that part can tell you just how tedious it was lol
I managed to get to the point of laying down flats before I took a break from streaming, and ended up finishing the rest of it offline because as helpful as it was to stream my work, it was also very distracting and I really needed to focus on the colouring part.
There was also the added hassle of Paint Tool Sai’s memory limitations making it so that I had to separate the file into 2 (foreground and background) and constantly switch between them.
So yea, that was essentially the process of this commission, on and off, over the course of almost a year!
There was many a time when I felt that I bit off more than I could chew, and even contemplated giving up and refunding my client but I just couldn’t bring myself to do that, I had to keep trying. And despite the many hiccups, delays, and uncertainty I faced, I’m really damn proud of how this commission turned out!
This was one hell of a project to work on, and I honestly can’t thank my client enough for being so patient and so understanding throughout it all, it’s really more than I ever expected him to put up with but he did. The man’s a saint, I tell you, and I’m so glad to have worked with him.
I don’t know that I’ll ever take on such a big commission again in the future, but if I do, I feel a bit more prepared.

Note
when you love someone, you tell them, and when you hate them, you make them fight greg prince zote, or you make them go through the path of pain, or you make them fight grimm, the list goes on and on there’s so many ways to make a bitch feel hopeless
When you love someone DON'T make a random child bring a flower that gets destroyed easily all the way across the map to their grave.
Just don't.
