A new stream treefrog of the genus Hyloscirtus (Amphibia, Hylidae) from the Río Negro-Sopladora National Park, Ecuador
Juan C. Sánchez-Nivicela, José M. Falcón-Reibán, Diego F. Cisneros-Heredia
Abstract
Recent surveys in the Río Negro-Sopladora National Park revealed a striking new species of Hyloscirtus.
The new species is easily diagnosed from all other congeners by its large body size (64.9 mm SVL in adult female); broad dermal fringes in fingers and toes; prepollex not projected into a prepollical spine and hidden under thenar tubercle; dorsum greyish-green, with paler-hued reticulum, yellow spots and black speckles; throat, venter, flanks and hidden surfaces of limbs golden-yellow with large black blotches and spots; fingers, toes and webbing yellow with black bars and spots; iris pale pink with black periphery.
It is currently known only from its type locality, in the high montane forest on the southern slopes of the Cordillera Oriental of the Andes, southeastern Ecuador. The new species might be related to the H. larinopygion species group based on its morphology.

Looking to probably close submissions either later today or tomorrow (it is currently Sunday morning for me). There will be 2 brackets each of 32 characters and a series of prepoll eliminations for shows with too many characters (not sure yet where the cut off will be) and characters I don’t know if I can count as parents.

I've been trying to organise myself a bit but here's an update :
We have :
(not counting Animal Crossing / Precure / Warrior Cats / Pokémon / My Little Pony in those, they'll get their own brackets/prelims)
- 14 characters with a name related to daisies
-> only 2 more different ones before I can do a bracket
- and of course the rest of your submissions are welcome as long as the rules are respected
I'll run "mini-brackets" with exactly the same concept but only 8 (to 12, I think) contestants (or a bit more if I do prepolls so if you want to submit a character with one of the names mentioned below, do it).
Only 2 will be allowed to move on to the main bracket (instead of 4 for 64, 32 and 16 brackets)
I should try that with Clovers first (but give me some time) and then Holly.
#not polls#announcements#and i'll keep updating this poll to let you know how things are going#THIS POST I MEAN#my bad

For people with disabilities there's more voting options in Australia than those already mentioned. Depending on your condition, you can still go to your local polling station, a lot of them are accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, etc. You can prepoll, because they're pretty much always mobility accessible and there's typically fewer people voting so more available staff to help if you need it. You can postal vote, so someone at home can help you fill in your ballot, if you need that. If you meet certain criteria you can vote by phone - someone from the electoral commission will call you on election day. And you can even have someone come to your house (not just hospitals and nursing homes) if you meet the criteria and choose that option.
Compulsory voting can be frustrating when every candidate running for the electorate sucks, but overwhelmingly our electoral system is pretty great. Would definitely recommend.

The fact the Libs screwed themselves over statewide is great. But it means they have staff to spare in the few places they're left. I've been fighting against a six strong team at prepoll cause they have nowhere else to go.

Yes, but, let me say this as someone from a country where voting is on a Saturday, with prepoll for 2 weeks, postal vote easily accessible, and no random roll purges.
If you are unable to get to the polls, and have tried what could be reasonably expected, don't beat yourself up about it. Speak to friends and family, see if you can carpool or whatever. Make sure you speak up when and where you can - call your reps and tell them to make voting more accessible.
But there are many people who cannot vote, because the American electoral system is designed to stop people voting.
If you can vote, you have no excuse to stay home. And if you can't vote, that is okay and not your fault.
if you are 18 or older, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you are queer or trans or care about people who are queer or trans, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you are a single mother or care about people who are single mothers, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you are suffering because of the american healthcare system or care about people who are suffering because of the american healthcare system, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you care about democracy, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you care about education, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you care about childrens rights, you do not have an excuse not to vote
if you care about women in any capacity, you do not have an excuse not to vote
reblog and dont stop reblogging. we've seen crazy shit happen this year and after a week or two, nobody bats an eye anymore. we cant let that happen with all the reports of harris gaining more support
keep reblogging until november. run the far right lunatics out of office because if we dont, then america will quite literally become a dictatorship
look up the policies for voter registration in your state. most states let you register online. it only takes about 5 minutes. you have zero excuse to not be voting. vote for harris.

Crazy as hell things that happen at election booths DAY ONE
There was some man standing there calling out random political points that made him sound like he was very drunk. "Support the Taliban and the PLA in Burma" "They put glass in paracetemol" "Free cocaine for refugees" These are direct quotes. But no, he stayed there all day. He was actually campaigning. For whom and for what, I don't know.
Some guy approached the Greens and said "sorry, I put you last. Pauline Hanson told me to". In a very serious and apologetic voice.
In a moment beyond parody, a voter said to the Liberal volunteers "thank you, you hard working boys". When out of earshot, one volunteer said "working hard or hardly working..."
United Australia Party candidate said very loudly on the phone "the polling is terrible here"
Labour volunteer got very worried to see me not wearing a coat. Like, terrified. Also her dog stood in front of the entrance to the booth like some sort of knight.
Woman very enthusiastically told me about how she finally managed to get her grandparents to vote Greens.
Other woman filmed herself shouting "down with Libs! Down with Libs!" in front of said Libs.
A man told the Liberal volunteers that he voted for them and that subsequently they were obligated to order him an Uber.
^ Same man started yelling about the rain. When I said "yeah, it's why they call it the Rainy City here", he replied "no, it's called the Shit City. I used to live in Germany."
Another man looked at the Liberal how-to-vote sheet very quickly, said "he has such a punchable face" and kept walking
#Auspol#Every single type of guy goes to the prepols#An incredible way to know what sort of humans exist#I'm doing tomorrow and Sat as well so I will have more stories I'm sure
