How to Plan the Perfect Kitchen Layout for a Large Family
Designing a kitchen for a large family is both an exciting and challenging task. The kitchen must be spacious, functional, and designed to foster family connections. At WeDezine Studio, we understand the importance of creating a kitchen that meets the needs of a large family, especially in Shivamoga, where community and togetherness are cherished. Here's a guide on how to design a kitchen that is both practical and inviting for your big family.
1. Choose a Practical Layout
The layout of your kitchen is crucial when designing for a large family. Consider an open-plan layout that seamlessly integrates cooking, dining, and socializing spaces. Popular options like U-shaped or L-shaped designs are perfect, as they provide plenty of counter space and allow multiple people to work in harmony. Make sure the kitchen triangle (sink, stove, refrigerator) is well-planned to reduce unnecessary movement, making meal prep more efficient.
2. Optimize Storage Space
For large families, storage is a must. Maximize available space with tall cabinets, pull-out drawers, and customized pantry solutions that utilize vertical storage. A central island with built-in storage is also a great addition, offering extra space for pots, pans, and kitchen gadgets while providing additional work surfaces. This will help keep the kitchen organized and reduce clutter, making it easier for everyone to access what they need.
3. Select Durable Materials
With the demands of a busy family kitchen, it's essential to choose materials that are durable and easy to maintain. Opt for high-quality surfaces like quartz countertops, which are resistant to scratches and stains. For flooring, consider ceramic or porcelain tiles that not only look stylish but are also practical and easy to clean. Durability is key to ensuring your kitchen can withstand the wear and tear of daily use.
4. Create a Family-Friendly Dining Area
A dining area within the kitchen can encourage family bonding. Choose a large dining table that can comfortably accommodate everyone, and think about adding a breakfast nook for casual, quick meals. Multi-functional furniture like storage benches can help maximize space while providing extra seating. This setup offers flexibility for busy mornings and cozy family meals on weekends.
5. Embrace Smart Appliances
Incorporating smart appliances can make life easier for large families. Look for double ovens, spacious refrigerators, and energy-efficient dishwashers designed to handle larger volumes of food and dishes. Smart appliances can simplify meal prep and reduce cleaning time, helping you manage your family’s busy schedule with ease.
6. Focus on Layered Lighting
Proper lighting is essential in a kitchen. A mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting will ensure every area is well-lit. Consider pendant lights over the island for task lighting, and install under-cabinet lights to brighten up your countertops. Large windows allow natural light to flood the space, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes cooking feel like a joy.
7. Add Personal Touches
Finally, make your kitchen feel like home by adding personal touches that reflect your family's personality. Choose colors, textures, and finishes that suit your style, and incorporate fun elements like a chalkboard wall for kids to draw on or display family photos. These personal details transform your kitchen from a functional space to a central gathering place for the whole family.
Conclusion
Designing a kitchen for a large family in Shivamoga requires a combination of creativity and practical planning. By focusing on layout, storage, durability, smart appliances, and personalization, you can create a kitchen that serves both your functional needs and your family’s lifestyle. At WeDezine Studio, we specialize in designing kitchens that bring families together. Contact us today to start designing the perfect kitchen for your home!

How To Renovate A Kitchen
Renovating a kitchen is a rewarding endeavor that can significantly enhance your home's value and functionality. The kitchen is often the heart of the home, where meals are prepared, conversations are shared, and memories are made. However, a kitchen renovation is a substantial undertaking that requires careful planning, budgeting, and execution. In this guide, we'll walk you through the essential steps to renovate your kitchen, with a focus on Kitchen Remodeling in Newton, MA, provided by Kitchen N Bath Center.
Step 1: Assess Your Needs and Set a Budget
Before diving into the renovation process, it's crucial to assess your kitchen's current state and determine what changes are necessary. Consider factors like the layout, storage space, appliances, lighting, and overall aesthetics. What do you like about your current kitchen, and what needs improvement? Do you need more counter space, modern appliances, or better lighting? This assessment will help you define your goals for the renovation.
Once you've identified your needs, it's time to set a budget. The cost of a kitchen renovation can vary widely, depending on the scope of the project and the materials used. On average, a kitchen remodel can cost anywhere from $15,000 to $50,000 or more. Setting a realistic budget will help you make informed decisions about what you can afford and where to allocate your funds. Be sure to include a contingency fund of about 10-15% for unexpected expenses.
Step 2: Plan the Layout
The layout of your kitchen is one of the most critical aspects of the renovation. A well-designed layout can improve the functionality and flow of your kitchen, making it more enjoyable to use. When planning your layout, consider the "kitchen work triangle," which refers to the efficient arrangement of the sink, stove, and refrigerator. This concept is designed to minimize the distance between these key areas, making it easier to prepare meals.
There are several popular kitchen layouts to consider:
L-Shaped Layout: Ideal for small to medium-sized kitchens, this layout maximizes corner space and provides ample counter space.
U-Shaped Layout: This layout offers plenty of storage and counter space, making it perfect for larger kitchens.
Galley Layout: A space-efficient option for narrow kitchens, with parallel counters and appliances.
Island Layout: Adding an island to your kitchen can create additional prep space, storage, and seating.
Consulting with professionals like Kitchen N Bath Center can help you choose the best layout for your kitchen remodeling in Newton, MA.
Step 3: Choose Materials and Finishes
The materials and finishes you choose for your kitchen will significantly impact its overall look and feel. When selecting materials, consider durability, maintenance, and style. Here are some key elements to focus on:
Cabinets: Cabinets are often the most prominent feature in a kitchen. Choose high-quality materials like solid wood, plywood, or MDF. Opt for finishes that complement your overall design, whether it's a classic white, modern gray, or natural wood.
Countertops: Your choice of countertop material should balance aesthetics with functionality. Popular options include granite, quartz, marble, and butcher block. Quartz is a popular choice for its durability and low maintenance, while marble offers a luxurious appearance but requires more care.
Backsplash: The backsplash protects your walls from splashes and spills while adding a decorative element to your kitchen. Subway tiles, mosaic tiles, and natural stone are popular choices.
Flooring: Kitchen floors need to withstand heavy foot traffic, spills, and stains. Consider materials like ceramic or porcelain tile, hardwood, or luxury vinyl for their durability and easy maintenance.
Lighting: Proper lighting is essential for both functionality and ambiance. Incorporate a mix of task lighting, ambient lighting, and accent lighting. Pendant lights over the island, under-cabinet lighting, and recessed ceiling lights are popular options.
Step 4: Select Appliances
Upgrading your kitchen appliances can make a significant difference in both the functionality and energy efficiency of your kitchen. When choosing appliances, consider your cooking habits and lifestyle. Stainless steel appliances are a popular choice for their sleek appearance and durability. Consider energy-efficient models to reduce your utility bills and environmental impact.
Key appliances to consider include:
Refrigerator: Choose a size and style that suits your needs, whether it's a French door, side-by-side, or top-freezer model.
Stove/Oven: Consider whether you prefer a gas or electric stove, and choose between a range, wall oven, or cooktop.
Dishwasher: An energy-efficient dishwasher can save you time and water.
Microwave: Decide whether to incorporate a built-in microwave or a countertop model.
Kitchen N Bath Center can guide you in selecting the right appliances for your kitchen remodeling project in Newton, MA.
Step 5: Hire Professionals
While DIY projects can be satisfying, a kitchen renovation often requires the expertise of professionals. Hiring experienced contractors, electricians, plumbers, and designers can ensure that your renovation is completed to a high standard and within your budget.
When searching for professionals for kitchen remodeling in Newton, MA, consider Kitchen N Bath Center. They have a proven track record of delivering quality kitchen renovations that meet the unique needs of each client. Working with a reputable company can give you peace of mind and help avoid common pitfalls like delays, budget overruns, and subpar workmanship.
Step 6: Obtain Permits and Plan for the Unexpected
Depending on the scope of your renovation, you may need to obtain permits from your local municipality. This is especially true if your renovation involves structural changes, electrical work, or plumbing. Failing to obtain the necessary permits can result in fines and complications when you sell your home. Your contractor can guide you through the permitting process to ensure compliance with local regulations.
It's also essential to plan for the unexpected. Renovations can uncover hidden issues like outdated wiring, plumbing problems, or structural damage. Having a contingency plan and budget can help you address these challenges without derailing your project.
Step 7: Execute the Renovation
With your plans in place, it's time to begin the renovation. This phase can be exciting but also disruptive, as your kitchen will be out of commission for a while. To minimize the impact on your daily life, consider setting up a temporary kitchen in another part of your home.
During the renovation, stay in close communication with your contractor to ensure that the project is progressing according to plan. Be prepared to make decisions on the fly, such as selecting alternative materials if your first choice is unavailable.
Step 8: Final Touches and Inspection
As the renovation nears completion, it's time to focus on the final touches. This includes installing hardware on cabinets, painting, and ensuring that all appliances and fixtures are working correctly. Your contractor should conduct a final inspection to ensure that everything meets your expectations and that the work is up to code.
Once the renovation is complete, take the time to enjoy your new kitchen. Invite friends and family over to celebrate the transformation, and relish the improved functionality and aesthetics of your space.
Conclusion
Renovating a kitchen is a significant investment, but with careful planning and the right team of professionals, it can be a rewarding experience. By following these steps and working with a trusted company like Kitchen N Bath Center, you can achieve a successful kitchen remodeling project in Newton, MA. Whether you're upgrading for better functionality, increased home value, or simply a fresh look, your new kitchen will be a space where you can create lasting memories for years to come.

Tips for Designing a Functional Kitchen
Tips for Designing a Functional Kitchen The kitchen is the heart of every home, and an organized, functional kitchen can make daily life much more efficient. Whether you are renovating your existing kitchen or designing one from scratch, here are some essential tips to ensure you create a functional kitchen that still has a focus on form. First, optimize the kitchen layout to create the foundation of a functional kitchen. Aim for the “kitchen work triangle” concept, where the refrigerator, stove, and sink are arranged in a triangular pattern. This layout minimizes the distance between these key work areas, making meal preparation smoother and more efficient. Additionally, consider the flow of traffic within the kitchen. Avoid obstructing pathways and allow enough space for multiple people to work together comfortably. Even in a small space, this is usually possible with clever planning. Next, ample storage is crucial for keeping your kitchen organized and efficient. Incorporate a mix of deep drawers, cabinets, and open shelves to accommodate various items. Install vertical dividers for baking trays and cutting boards, pull-out racks for spices and condiments, and built-in organizers for pots and pans. Utilize every inch of available space efficiently to avoid clutter and keep essential items easily accessible. Because kitchen appliances are the workhorses that streamline cooking and meal preparation, opt for energy-efficient, high-quality appliances that suit your needs and cooking habits. Stainless steel finishes are timeless and blend well with any kitchen design, while white or black options can also complement many color palettes. Built-in appliances create a seamless and organized look, and will also make your kitchen appear more spacious. Appropriate lighting can enhance both the functionality and ambiance of your kitchen. Incorporate a mix of task lighting, ambient lighting, and accent lighting to cater to different activities and moods. Install under-cabinet lighting to illuminate countertops, pendant lights over the kitchen island for a stylish touch, and a central fixture for overall illumination. Dimmer switches allow you to control the intensity of light, making it easy to adjust to different tasks and occasions. The kitchen is a high-traffic area that is prone to spills and splatters, so choose durable and easy-to-clean materials. Quartz or granite countertops are both durable and visually appealing, while porcelain tiles or laminate flooring are low maintenance and resilient against spills and stains. Also, consider using stain-resistant and washable paints for the walls. Countertop space is a precious commodity in the kitchen. As you design your space, leave enough room to prep meals, place small appliances, and keep frequently used items within reach. If space permits, consider adding an extended countertop or a kitchen island, which provides extra working space and can also serve as a dining area or a casual gathering spot. As home technology becomes more advanced, the kitchen is a natural place to implement smart storage solutions. Touchless faucets and motion-activated lighting can improve functionality while contributing to a modern aesthetic. If space allows, install pull-out trash and recycling bins for easy waste disposal, as well as a pull-out pantry to provide easy access to dry goods. Designing a functional kitchen requires careful planning and consideration of your needs, lifestyle, and budget. With a bit of research and perhaps some expert guidance, you can create a kitchen that seamlessly blends form and function. 10 Concepts for Little Kitchens
Cape Kitchen
In an effort to maintain the period look of this 1932 Cape Cod remodel, close attention was paid to details like the intricate bracketed molding and drawer pulls. It is the robin's-egg-blue cabinets, though, that really grab attention and create the illusion of space in the small room.
Designer: Gerard Ciccarello, CMKBD, Covenant Kitchens & Baths Inc., Westbrook, CT
Glittering Galley
The old cabinet doors that were once in this galley kitchen couldn't take another coat of paint, so the homeowners brought in a design pro for a complete overhaul. The new layout called for the removal of a wall between the small kitchen and family room to open up the space. Scraped maple floors and simple cabinetry with river-stone hardware give the room a clean, uncluttered vibe. The glass-tile mosaic backsplash twinkling beneath undercabinet lighting is a bold focal point that draws the eye.
Designer: Blue Arnold, IV, CKD, Kitchen By Request Inc., Jarrettsville, MD
Light and Bright
This kitchen packs every homeowner's most-wanted features into a small space: a storage-filled island with seating, double wall ovens, pendant lights, and a beautiful mosaic backsplash. Light English sycamore and dark maple trim play nicely in the custom cabinetry, creating a striking but natural balance. Recessed lighting and open shelving above the cabinets create a perfect home for collectibles.
Designer: Glenn Meader, AKBD, Kitchen Concepts Inc., Norwell, MA
Space-Saving Sensation
The owners of this American bungalow wanted to make their small kitchen more exotic. Dark cabinets with brown-and-black tiger striping makes for a sleek, contemporary look, while the pale solid-surface backsplash creates a bold contrast. The design makes the most of very little countertop space with a wenge butcher block that slides over the sink. A dining table on casters allows an eight-seater to slide under the island when not in use.
Designer: Jennifer L. Gilmer, CKD, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath Ltd., Chevy Chase, MD
Brilliant Backsplash
The wall between this tiny kitchen and an adjacent living space was removed to make room for more storage. Visual separation between the rooms was maintained with an island-breakfast bar. Placing the sink in the corner of the room made for more food prep space, while brushed and polished stainless tile forms a standout backsplash.
Designer: Areti Tanya Rentzos, Andros Kitchen & Bath Designs, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Room for Two
This small kitchen boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the place with natural light, opening up the space, so the design of the once-cluttered kitchen—in which the refrigerator door hit the dishwasher or stove when it opened—was planned around them.
Reorganization of the footprint and a few clever island design tweaks allowed for counter-height seating. Rich, stained cabinets and dark granite counters form a bold contrast with light porcelain floors.
Designer: Tony Hunt, CKD, CBD, Binns Kitchen + Bath Design, Pickering, Ontario, Canada
Small Wonder
This homeowner, a top Realtor in the area, wanted a unique small space to show off to her clients. That's just what she got with the dark shoji-style cabinets and custom round butcher-block table on casters. The cooking range is flanked by floating shelves, which help to open up the tiny kitchen.
Designer: Jennifer L. Gilmer, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath Ltd., Chevy Chase, MD
Classic White
This 1800s Federal-style home features a contemporary white kitchen. The smallness of the room allowed the homeowners to splurge on luxurious materials. Crystal cabinet pulls and knobs, a Turkish marble subway tile backsplash, and taupe silk wall coverings make for a classic, indulgent space.
Designer: Gerard Ciccarello, CMKBD, Covenant Kitchen & Baths Inc., Westbrook, CT
Space-Smart and Sleek
Though her old home is old—as well as tiny—and traditional, this homeowner requested a contemporary cooking space. The clean design makes the perfect backdrop for collectibles. Mother-of-pearl granite countertops and frosted-glass tile contrast with dark cabinets, while a custom-built, space-saving table on casters nests into the back of the island when not in use.
Designer: Jennifer L. Gilmer, CKD, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath Ltd., Chevy Chase, MD
Stylish Storage
This hardworking small kitchen features two space-smart pull-out pantry units and hidden stepladder storage for upper cabinets. The use of butternut wood, copper, hickory, and antiqued bronze give the room warmth, while a rich blue beadboard backsplash delivers a shot of color.
Designer: Thomas David Trzcinski, CMKBD, Kitchen & Bath Concepts of Pittsburgh LLC, Pittsburgh, PA

Renovation
2017 has been the year of the house. In January we started our serious renovations beginning phase one with filling in our sunk-in living room and updating the fireplaces. Once we did that we knew we needed to update the flooring to be consistent throughout and that included the entire upstairs. Ideally, we will be able to have this flooring expand out to a future outdoor living area as we chose a porcelain wood-look tile, but that’s still a ways off. So phase two included flooring, kitchens and bathrooms! It was no small project.
We kicked off renovations in mid-June with lots of packing and some self demolition. We packed up the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms, moved (and sold a lot) of furniture, took out all the flooring ourselves and removed all the upstairs doors. We were super lucky as I offered the cabinetry free on our local Buy Nothing Facebook group with the caveat that they had to remove it. So a very nice gentleman came to remove the kitchen cabinets and countertop for free - it took him a solid eight hours of labor that we did not have to do ourselves nor pay our contractors for so it was a huge success especially since the cabinetry still could get used instead of dumped!
[Everything moved from upstairs to downstairs or the garage, deck or was sold]
[Our kitchen became an outdoor camp kitchen with card table grill, fridge and microwave]
Since then a lot has happened. In case anyone wants a real look at a renovation timeline, here ya go:
June 10 - Started packing everything up
June 22 - Kitchen cabinetry removed
June 24-25 - Wood floor and stair railings removed
[Tyler starting his demo]
[Little man was a big help and constantly wanted to use the tools too]
June 26 - Legit demo started with our construction crew, bye bye master bathroom
June 27 - Main bathroom demolished, some subfloor was removed
June 28-29 - Repair of subfloor
July 6-13 - Framing of center pole and electrical
[Floors prepped and ready]
[Pole boxed in for a more intentional look]
July 14-16 - Drywall
July 17 - Tub installed and other plumbing started
July 18 - Kitchen and bath cabinets installed
July 20 - Kitchen cabinets removed and reinstalled due to minor (but important) miscalculation that caused a cabinet and drawer not to open by the fridge corner
July 24 - Floor tile heat pad install begins
July 25 - Temporary sink installed in downstairs bath since the kids and I returned from Michigan and having shower only water supply was tough.
July 28 - Electric floor heating finished
[Heat mapping ready to go]
July 31 - Floor tiling begins
August 8 - Countertop measurements
August 15 - Countertop installation
August 16 - Floor tiling finally finished!!!! Plumber came to install faucets and dishwasher
[Tile in progress!]
August 17 - Fridge was supposed to be installed but the outlet was not actually finished and some cabinet bracket was missing. So it was delivered and placed in the middle of our kitchen. Also delivered was our bed and dining table
[Table is here!]
August 21 - Tiling for master shower and bath surround begins
August 24 - Electrical finished including new pendant lights over the island and a new ceiling fan
August 25th - Shower and tub tile is complete, fridge is also installed
September 8 - Cabinetry mostly finished and fridge is usable!!!
September 13 - Old fridge is sold so we are officially able to clean up the outside camp kitchen (which doesn’t happen until the 24th)
September 20 - Master bath pendant lights installed and final electrical
September 26 - Master shower glass and mirrors installed in master bath and hall bath
September 28 - Metal pole is complete and kitchen backsplash is in the final stages
[Who needs a couch?]
October 2 - Metal backspalsh finished
October 4 - Doors installed
October 9 - Final finishes on the kitchen and baseboard/door trim completed
October 17 - Tile bullnose finished in bathrooms
October 23 - Couches finally arrived after a couple week delay
[Banister is up, doors are in and pictures are hung - almost done!]
[Couches have finally arrived!]
I’ve previously shared the amazing transformation of our bathrooms and kitchen. The guest room remains pretty much unchanged except for a new breaker box and our master bedroom is completely bare except for a bed as we are awaiting final furniture plans - the headboard is currently being built and should be done by my birthday (early January) and we actually just got a dresser last week. While we are still hoping for one, possibly two, pieces of furniture (entry table and side table) for the living room, now that our couches are here, I can finally show off the overall layout change of the living room as it won’t change much from here.
Do you remember how our living room started at the beginning of 2016 before any renovations?
After our January renovations and before our big summer project our living room looked like this:
Now it feels more cohesive and open without banisters or different flooring. The Christmas decorations are a nice touch too! We are so excited to get to enjoy our new living space for the holidays!

Interior Design Ideas: Nantucket Shingle Style Home
If you’ve read my blog for a few years, you probably will know that I love classic homes and this Nantucket shingle home built by Orren Pickell Building Group is a home that is sure to not go out of style anytime soon.
Here, the builder share the insights of this beautifully designed home: “Honoring their East Coast roots and incorporating a cozy farmhouse feel guided the design of this gracious shingle home.
After scouring the area for land that would offer the right combination of privacy and views, the family selected this wooded, ten-acre parcel. The Pickell team positioned the home at the high point, making sure to maximize the expansive vistas on all sides.
Architectural details such as a cupola and shingled exterior provide the Nantucket aesthetic the family wanted, while the interior has the warm, lived-in feel they desired. The chicken coop, supplying fresh eggs every morning, fits right in.
Broad pine planks, rough-hewn beams in the dining room and reclaimed timbers in the family room add to the farmhouse character and complement the family’s rustic American antiques. However, custom cabinetry and an open first-floor plan make the home eminently livable today.
An eat-in kitchen, formal dining room and living room flow easily from one to another, creating an ideal space for entertaining. In addition, the first floor features an expansive master suite with indoor and outdoor showers, office space, and a large mudroom centered around a vintage workbench.
The lower level is home to an antique bar the owners found in a shop in Indiana, as well as a gym and a soccer practice area (complete with reinforced drywall to prevent damage). Three more bedrooms complete the layout upstairs.
Throughout the interior, warm colors, extensive wood, natural light and comfortable furnishings make the 5,000 home feel friendly and intimate, just as the family dreamed of.”
Pin your favorite interior design photos and have a great time, my friends!

Modern Home Renovation
Hi, everyone! How are you doing? This week has been wonderful so far. The weather is perfect – not too warm but still sunny – and I am learning to slow down a little as summer unfolds…
I am very happy to be featuring Spaces Renewed on Home Bunch again (make sure to see their other projects below). This is not the type of home I usually post on the blog – it’s certainly more modern/contemporary, but I was very intrigued by the story behind it and decided to share it with you. I feel that we can all learn a thing of two from what once was a nightmare for the homeowners and finally became their dream home. This talented builder shares more details below:
“Originally, this coastal gem was a builder basic gone wrong. Outdated and low-end finishes were combined with code violations and install short cuts. A choppy floor plan and dark halls and stairs all led this homeowner to want to start over with a totally new vision and design plan. Through innovated space planning, thoughtful finish choices and deliberate incorporation of outdoor space, we turned this home into an open concept, light and bright modern marvel.” – Marshall & Beth Booth for Spaces Renewed.

Modern Home Renovation
This San Diego, California home looks more modern and updated thanks to a few changes, which includes as fresh coat of paint color.
Stucco Paint Color
White Stucco Paint Color: “Dunn Edwards Cool December”.
Kitchen
“The kitchen combines matte finish countertops and slab doors, with accent slimline metal accent cabinet door fronts. White high-gloss glass backsplash tiles offer a stark contrast with the more muted tones and textures and creates an interesting light palette in the space.” – Spaces Renewed.
Countertop: Morning Frost Quartz.
Island Eating Area
“The dual tone counters each have waterfall edges on all sides continuing to clean and well-defined lines. The sitting area counter color brings in warmth, which pulls in the natural wood floors and also adds a new layer to the otherwise stark white and stainless steel kitchen. The Miele appliance package is perfect partner for the modern kitchen. Hidden storage solutions throughout the kitchen keep the counters clean and clear of clutter. A breakfast cabinet that hides blenders, juicers, and coffee makers. Pull outs racks contain all spices, oils and stove top utensils. Pull out pantry trays and extra deep drawers hold all the pot, pans and daily goods.” – Spaces Renewed.

Open & Airy
“The open concept we used at the main level combined the kitchen, dining room, and 2 separate seating areas, all in one great space with sweeping ocean views. Even though each space is connected, the areas are well defined and are full of purpose. We deliberate on space planning and floor plan creation to ensure that ‘open concept’ is still refined and dignified. Nana Wall Door systems were used in the kitchen, family, dining areas and master bedroom in order to bring in the view and create the ideal indoor/outdoor living experiences. At the coast, we needed to use a product that could withstand the weathering, as well as offer superior clear openings, access to the numerous patios, and the cleanest site lines possible. This door system was the perfect complement to this amazing home.” – Spaces Renewed.
Interior Paint Color: Dunn Edwards “Cool December” at all walls (added a bit more white to the formula for the ceiling).
Outdoor Living
“Outdoor living spaces are the pride of San Diego! The large format porcelain tiles are neutral in color with a concrete like finish. This product offers superior durability and a seamless visual transition in and out of the home. The large glass door systems have low thresholds to continue the theme of visual openness and easy access to the outdoors.” – Spaces Renewed.

Planter: here – similar.
Hardwood Flooring
Wood throughout: Monarch Plank, Windsor collection, Bradfield color – similar here – Others: here, here & here.
Staircase
“The stairwell had angled landings and closed in tread and risers. This created a dark and cramped pathways 4 flights high! We opened up the staircase to add floating treads and straighten out every angled landing. This design detail reinforces the modern feel throughout, as well as creating more light and space to maneuver.” – Spaces Renewed.
Window Treatment: Stair windows/Master Bath window: Adhesive Privacy Window Film, Prism Mosaic.
Guest Bedroom
Bedroom Paint Color: Cool December by Dunn Edwards.
Bed: West Elm – Others: here, here, here & here.
Nightstands: West Elm.
Dresser: West Elm.
Bedding: West Elm.
Guest Bathroom
“The warm wood porcelain tiles flow seamlessly from the floor into the shower, creating visual connection and openness. The stark white wall tiles, counters and cabinets are clean, bright and modern. Lighted mirror, chrome fixtures and frameless glass shower enclosure complete this space.” – Spaces Renewed.
Countertop: Morning Frost Quartz.
Faucet: Delta.
Floor & Pan Tile: DalTile Saddle Brook Oak Trail – Others: here, here & here.
Wall Tile: DalTile Composition Gesso – Other Beautiful Tiles: here, here, here, here, here & here.
Master Bathroom
“This master bath retreat combines matte stainless fixtures and accents with natural bamboo cabinets creating a space full of interest. The cabinets are wall hung which opens the floor space, making the room feel bigger. The Japanese stainless soaking tub was chosen for both the unique metal finish, as well as the special size, fitting perfectly in this small space. The shower pan mirrors the tub, by using stainless steel mosaic tiles. The shower wall tile wraps into the toilet room, bringing in floor to ceiling interest and texture. A trough sink allows for two faucets, while keeping the counter free from the visual clutter of two separate sinks in this small space. ” – Spaces Renewed.
Faucets: Brizo Odin Wall Mount Chrome.
Wall & Floor Tile: Portfolio, White PF02 12×24.
Countertop: Morning Frost Quartz.
Tub: Signature Hardware – Others: here & here.

Reinvented Classic Kitchen Design
A complete redesign and remodel of this classic kitchen and adjoining areas was undertaken by the talented designers at Roomscapes Cabinetry and Design Center (previously featured here). The kitchen in this classic home was nestled into the interior of the home with only one wall of windows allowing natural light into the space. A Rubik’s cube of design changes were made to grant the clients wish for more light, a larger bright friendly space, better functionality and organization. The homeowners now enter their kitchen from many points to find a new light, bright, functional family-friendly space.
Reinvented Classic Kitchen Design
Specific zones created in the now large kitchen to add structure including a wet/coffee bar (more details shortly), a kitchen island and a range wall flanked by two refrigeration columns. Finishes and cabinetry define each zone.
Perimeter Cabinetry: Coronado Recessed Framed Beaded Inset Cabinet Doors in Nordic White Finish on Maple.
Appliance Pulls: 10” and 15″ Pulls in Brushed Brass finish.
Kitchen Island
The kitchen island features a wood eating counter and custom posts.

Wet Bar
Brass hardware compliments the brass detail of the chandeliers over the island, while the matte black of the same chandeliers comes full circle back to the matte black of the coffee bar.
Wet Bar Cabinetry
The leaded glass detail at the coffee bar and the upper glass cabinets flanking the hood consist of true blown glass and lead pattern that match exactly the lead glass windows found at the main entry to the home.
Wet Bar Cabinet: Heiloom Black with Espresso Glaze – similar to “Benjamin Moore Onyx”.
Prep-Sink
Prep Sink: Hammered copper undermount sink Native Trails.
