Hi! I'm Kaity B (she/her), a 29-year-old Simmer from the USA, and I'm so excited to share my Pleasantview adventures with you! Whether you're new to The Sims or a long-time fan, this post will give you a warm welcome and a helpful guide to my Simblr.

Pleasantview is a neighborhood filled with intriguing stories and beloved characters. My storytelling picks up right after the scripted events of The Sims 2, which set the stage for all the drama and excitement. If you're new to The Sims 2, these scripted events are pre-set scenarios that create a rich backdrop for your gameplay. Here’s a quick rundown of where things stand and what you can expect in my Pleasantview:

The Lothario Household: Don Lothario is a notorious womanizer caught in a love quadrangle with Cassandra Goth, Nina Caliente, Dina Caliente, and Kaylynn Langerak. His upcoming wedding to Cassandra is full of doubts and complications.

The Goth Family: Mortimer Goth is recovering from his wife's disappearance by dipping his toes back into a committed relationship. His daughter Cassandra is engaged to Don Lothario, and his son Alexander is growing up quickly in a house full of secrets.

The Caliente Sisters: Dina and Nina Caliente have recently arrived in Pleasantview under mysterious circumstances. Dina's aim is to marry rich, while Nina seeks excitement. Their arrival coincides with the disappearance of Bella Goth, adding to the town's intrigue.

The Pleasant Family: Daniel and Mary-Sue Pleasant are struggling with their marriage. Mary-Sue recently caught Daniel cheating with the maid, Kaylynn Langerak. Their twin daughters, Angela and Lilith, are constantly at odds.

The Broke Family: Brandi Broke is dealing with the recent death of her husband, Skip, and the challenges of raising her sons, Dustin and Beau, on her own. An unexpected pregnancy adds to her struggles.

The Dreamer Household: Darren Dreamer is a widower and struggling artist, trying to make ends meet while raising his teenage son, Dirk. He's also harboring a secret crush on Cassandra Goth.

The Burb Family: John and Jennifer Burb have returned to Pleasantview with their daughter Lucy, seeking a fresh start in the town where they grew up.

The Ramirez Family: Checo and Lisa Ramirez have just opened a new furniture store in Pleasantview, hoping to achieve the Simtopia dream while raising their daughter, Tessa.

Rotational Play

Rotational play is a gameplay style where I switch households every in-game week, giving each household 7 days per season. This way, I can keep their stories fresh and unexpected. Unlike the legacy challenge, where you focus on a single family through multiple generations, rotational play allows you to explore and develop multiple families and their stories simultaneously. This method ensures that every family in Pleasantview gets attention and their stories interweave, creating a dynamic and interconnected neighborhood.

Wants-Based Gameplay

Wants-based gameplay means that my Sims' desires drive their stories. In The Sims 2, Sims have specific wants and fears that influence their behavior and mood. I focus on fulfilling their wants, which adds a layer of depth and unpredictability to their lives. By prioritizing their aspirations and fears, I let autonomy stir up some delightful chaos along the way, making the storytelling more organic and engaging.

The Sims 2 Vibes

I've modded my game to mirror the feel of The Sims 2, including aspirations, hobbies, and those quirky chance cards. Dice rolls and creative twists keep things interesting. All stories kick off post-scripted events. In my neighborhood, Don and Cassandra are married, Dina and Mortimer eloped, and Daniel... well, let's say he's had better days.

Диего получил от разгневанной невесты серию пощечин, а няша-добряша Мико в это время откровенно наслаждалась происходящим, покатываясь от смеха. Друзья и знакомые пары в большинстве своем и вовсе проигнорировали приглашение на фестиваль.

Несмотря на то, что шкала романтики между ними упала практически до нуля, Диего и Пенни всё же смогли обменяться кольцами. У этих двоих всё должно идти по плану!

А когда мероприятие подошло к концу и мол��дожены удалились в спальню (там тоже всё прошло довольно неплохо), Мико решила начать бомбардировать Диего пассивно-агрессивными сообщениями в социальной сети. Веселая вышла свадьба, что тут скажешь.

Goth Rotation/Spring Year 1

Cassandra Goth has been struggling with her mother's death and all the mysteries surrounding it, with all her digging all signs point to a little town named Strangerville right outside Oasis Springs, she packed up her bags, said her goodbyes to her worried family and booked a long term stay at one of the only hotels in town. After talking to the strange dude at the curio shop she's been led to the library and now to an abandoned science facility what she finds in the front entrance is horrifying, her uncles remains...something horrible is truly happening here she needs to get through those sealed doors and find the truth. Playing with the goth family in @coolpuppy12 doodoo save! I had to take out 99% of my mods and all my cc recently and this save has made me fall in love with the vanilla game again <3

The Goth household. Summer, Rotation 1. Part 1: Mortimer's secret

Mortimer Goth spent most of his time making sure Alexander studied. He wanted him to excel in school, nothing less was acceptable. It was even more important to him now that he had named him his heir. He was to take over the Goth Science Laboratory one day, and Mortimer had to know he was prepared for the job.

Most days, while Alexander was in school, Mortimer was at the science lab, keeping an eye on his employees and the scientific research they were conducting. On other days, he invited over Dina Caliente to spend a few hours with her. They had been dating for quite some time now and Mortimer knew she was growing impatient with him. She didn't like how he kept their relationship a secret from his children, and she was waiting for him to make their relationship official by proposing to her. He agreed that the secrecy was getting tiring, but wasn't as sure about her other wish.

For a long time, Mortimer had been opposed to the idea of re-marrying. Bella was his wife, and that was that. But as the years passed, he started to wonder. Would it really be so bad to re-marry? Bella had been missing for a long time now, the chances of her returning were slim, if not non-existent. He had to admit, he was feeling lonely, and the loneliness would only get worse once Alexander moved to college. Dina's company had been the only comfort he's had for quite some time now. Maybe it was time to finally honor her wish.

Pleasant household round 2 -The Pleasant's have always been a family of drama, but since Daniels long term affair with the maid has come to light, Mary-Sue strides to be better. After losing her job and catching Daniel in the arms of their maid, Mary-Sue chose to restart and live life again by being the best mother and supporter she could for her children. Angela and Lilith's sisterly love is still nowhere in sight as Lilith stole away her sisters boyfriend, Dustin. Now, the sisters are awaiting the day they go to college to get as far away from one another as possible. The only thing keeping them going was the arrival of their little brother George who has brought them both joy they had never felt as a sister. Will their shared love for their brother bring them closer? Daniel, though a cheating scum has now reached the top of his career and has become highly successful. Bringing home the bacon has become his only capable thing he can do right by his family. Will the love of his son ignite the passion in him to be the family man he was always set out to be? Since he has such little time with now another baby on the way.

Cheap exorcisms in your area - wait no my kid just looks like that. Ah damn, that sucks. It's a face only a father could love, sorry not sorry. At least she will be aging up soon so Circe's little life project will be able to start.

Circe came back to her maiden name Salamis because in what world would this go getter girlie change her name for some subpar scientist?

She is bonding with the test subject. Making a good foundation for insanity. The goals are: private school, A+, all homework is helped with, the kid has at least 3rd lvl in every skill before becoming a teen.

She has - ew - romance with Pascal (ew) and it's soooo gross to her. Eww. Another subpar no good man. But she wants to have a child of her own so she is in search of somebody better.

Kevin Bruty just so happened to be available. Very cooperative and respectful. Did not require wooing or time just did his thing and got quickly asked to leave after. Efficiency you see - it's key!

Will I be showing the men of this house any time soon? No. Also happy mad scientist happy life or whatever.

Circe gave birth right at the end of the turn to twins. Both got black hair, one has blue eyes the other has brown. Fine mix if I do say so myself. They are exactly 8 days younger than Millie and two days younger than the Greenman twins.

Summer Hiatus

I wanted to come back finish and at least finish off the Ramirez rotation. Knowing I was sooo close to completing the spring season was enough to help me finish. It seems like the perfect place to pause and let things be.

I don’t want to go too much into my thought process as it’s somehow a bit personal- considering all of my feelings are connected to childhood. But what I will say is I want to be able to move on from the sims franchise. It’s hard. There’s a deep emotional connection that I have to the game that creates a really unhealthy cycle and EA keeps profiting off of that and they don’t deserve my money. I want so badly to pretend that isn’t the case. I want to defend and say I’m having fun. But the reality is: dealing with a buggy game, crashing, lacking basic gameplay mechanics is not fun. The sims franchise to me- is but a shell of what it used to be.

I’m at a bit of a cross roads with what I want to do. For now- with Life By You dropping around the corner. I think it’s best I let the ink dry in the Pleasantview saga. В игре я очень люблю совмещать календарные и семейные праздники, когда это удается. Вот и Диего решил устроить репетицию свадебного ужина в Праздник Урожая!

Обычно этот день проходит у моих симов довольно скучно, но в этот раз вечеринка получилась интересной и насыщенной. Приглашены были все «Легенды караоке» (других друзей у Диего пока что не завелось), но Дарлинг сбежала домой в первые же минуты праздника. Как же это на нее похоже!

Стоит признать, что атмосфера в квартире Диего ни на секунду не переставала быть напряженной. Несколько сим-дней назад Диего и Мико пересмотрели формат своих отношений и по понятным причинам чувствовали себя неловко в обществе друг друга. Пенни и Акира тоже избегали лишний раз встречаться взглядами — давным-давно они состояли в романтических отношениях и никто из них не горел желанием ворошить память о былом.

На вечеринке Диего обнаружил свое призвание в танцах, торжественно вручил Пенни ключи от квартиры и улучшил свою репутацию, во всеуслышание назвав Акиру Кибо своим хорошим другом. Мико же нон-стоп шутила едкие шуточки про брак и семью и в целом выглядела нервной и уязвленной. Забавное — в качестве приглашенного бармена к Диего пришел не кто-нибудь, а та самая русалка!

Но главным событием вечера стал неожиданный звонок от незнакомого старичка с сообщением о баснословном наследстве. Конечно же, Диего сразу же согласился на все условия, даже не дослушав своего собеседника до конца. Необходимость жениться в ближайшие семь дней ни капли не огорчила Диего — свадьба с Пенни состоится не сегодня-завтра, а тут еще и приятный бонус в виде крупной суммы симолеонов сам собой образовался как нельзя кстати. Жизнь удалась!

When the jokes on TV aren’t funny so you write your own jokes

I’m not reviving the rotational gameplay (for now). After months of not opening this save file, I opened a few weeks ago to test out some gshade presets. My last household was Johnny Zest’s and I had actually taken several screenshots. I just never got around to editing and writing captions for them because my interest in my own OCs was taking over. I don’t want to say I’ll never play with premades again because sometimes I do miss it. I just can’t get past a few sim hours before I’m bored, which doesn’t happen as much when I’m playing with my OCs. So in the spirit of keeping this game a recreational thing instead of a chore, I chose not to continue with the rotational gameplay. 

Fast forward to today. I’m messing around in Photoshop, trying to combine/create actions that simulate a film look for my Lightflower gameplay. I’m happy with the results but can’t really post the screenshots without spoiling my own story, so I apply the actions to these pictures of Johnny instead. And ta-da! It’s giving sad clown vibes because of Johnny’s traumatic upbringing and disownment by the Landgraabs.

The Goth household. Summer, rotation 1. Part 2: The new heir

Time went by quickly, and suddenly Alexander was a teenager. Now he was expected to start working with his father after school. He didn't mind the work. On the contrary, he loved the science lab, especially now that he was shadowing his father, learning all sorts of interesting stuff. But still, the work shifts were long and they were rarely home before sunset, and then Alexander had to start writing his school assignments. He barely had any free time on the weekdays and, as a result, he'd made very few friends.

He did have one close friend, though. Her name was Tara Debateau. She and her father had recently moved to Pleasantview, and Alexander met her at one of the dinner parties the upper-class families in the Pleasant region often attended. Alexander had always found the dinners boring, but that changed when he met Tara.

She was nothing like the other upper-class sims. She was colorful and fun, and she always made him laugh. They had so much in common, too. They were both knowledge sims, neither had any clear memories of their mothers, and they both struggled with the lofty expectations of their fathers.

Alexander hadn't thought much about when he would fall in love. He barely had time to sleep, so dating was far down on his priority list. Still, when he looked at Tara... he was wondering. She was pretty, with her freckles and short-cut red hair, and he liked her. A lot. Could there be something there? He wasn't sure and he didn't dare to ask.
