:: The two don’t let it get to them and always speak very highly of each other.

:: Y/N, Charles and Max are considered the Big 3 of the new generation of F1, having shared many podiums together.

:: Y/N = the honorary Lestappen third wheel.

F1 FEMALE DRIVER HEADCANONS PT2

PAIRING… f1 x driver!reader | WC… 1.2k | Masterlist

➭ You were signed with PREMA team in f3 and f2 and were previously on the mercedes young drivers training scheme and so that helped guide you into an f1 seat.

➭ I reckon you started off in a pretty lowkey team, something like Haas or Toro Rosso. You would quickly move up the ranks and managed to sign a deal with Mercedes in 2021 to work alongside Lewis. You find Mercedes a comfortable and reliable team, even with a few rocky seasons, but you are prepared to risk it all.

➭ In regards to first impressions, I’d say you left quite a strong and unique impression on every driver in different ways.

➭ Lando’s first impression of you was way back from when they were still karting. He had initially found you quite aggressive as he first met you on the track, but once he was able to have a conversation with you, he found you to be a sweet girl who was willing to risk it all for her dreams.

➭ Seb’s first impression of you was of great pride. He had already heard about the young girl who was swiftly climbing up the hierarchy of motorsport and so he was almost honoured to finally meet you. He found you to be a strong and empowering woman, fighting to keep herself in a world full of powerful men and so he found you quite inspiring.

➭ You are Carlos immediately clicked. Maybe it was the way in which he introduced himself by kicking open your driver room door before the first race, or how you just immediately found every little thing you both did hilarious. You’ve valued him as an older brother since the day you first met.

➭ Your first ever interaction with George was one in which you crashed straight into him in a karting race. To say that left a bad impression would be an understatement. From that day on he would despise you and you, of course, would reciprocate the hatred due to your endless amounts of pride. Over time, and the constant races where you raced each other, you eventually grew fond of each other. Maybe it was the endless amounts of forced proximity, everyone knowing of your rivalry and so constantly partnering you together just to witness the arguments. But somehow, you both managed to overcome the grudge.

➭ Logan’s first impression of you wasn’t too great. You had heard about his pride in being American before the season and so you thought it would be a great idea to play the pledge of allegiance when he walked into the room. Well, to cut the story short he was not very impressed. It took you awhile to redeem yourself but you eventually managed to win him over after buying him a large amount of his favourite snack.

➭ Lewis initially found you to be a very funny girl. He hadn’t realised how nervous you were to meet him and so led you to crack every joke possible to try and make a great first impression, which obviously worked. He basically took you in as one of his own, taking you out to dinner after a good race, or buying you chocolate whilst you’re on your period. But overall, you would say you made quite a good impression.

➭ Alex’s first impression of you was amazing. He had met you at a go karting race and, for some reason, he found you absolutely hilarious. Maybe it was the way you practically tripped over and fell straight into him, causing you to both hit the floor. But anyways, you two hit it off great and have just been each other’s idiots since day 1.

➭ You and Oscar had both heard of each other before actually meeting as you were both signed to PREMA, a team that’s below f1. So you had already gained some sort of respect for each other, only to be lost in the video challenge you had been partnered up to do. A dance challenge. To say it was a disaster wouldn’t honour it’s stupidity enough. It was horrendous, an absolute piss take you’d say. But everyone else enjoyed your two’s suffering, especially the director. So much so that she extended the filming as throughout the entire video you can hear staff members crying with laughter in the background. Needless to say, you and Oscar bonded quite well from that traumatic experience and so grew quite close.

➭ You and Daniel hit it off instantly. He was and still is a warm and welcoming soul and so that’s how you believe you loved him from day 1. You met at your first interview of the season and he, obviously noticing how nervous you are, made sure to give you a warm hug in hopes of calming you. That didn’t really help but still, it was the principle that warmed your heart.

➭ Pierre’s first impression of you was quite strange. He didn’t quite know what to make of you. A strange young girl, who managed to climb up the ranks who acted so strangely. Although, I don’t think it helped that the first time you ever met was when you were in the middle of dressing up as a clown for a video. He was quite bewildered and so tried his best to avoid you but ultimately it was inevitable. You eventually caught onto him and forced him to have a conversation with you and from that moment on he loved you.

➭ You are extremely well known for your embarrassing moments, having the majority of them, somehow, caught on camera. Your fellow drivers continuously hound you for the amount of times you’ve done stuff and you just have to stand there and take it with a brave face. You’d say your most embarrassing moment EVER with a driver would be when you and Lando had to dress up as your favourite animal, you as a giraffe and Lando as an elephant, and then perform a dance, whilst also singing, in front of a camera. And, amazingly luckily for you, the team principals just happened to walk past and witnessed this all. You both never managed to live this down as Toto managed to take a video of you two and posted it to millions of fans. To say you were embarrassed wouldn’t be enough, you were horrified.

➭ Your favourite moment of your entire career is when the 2022 drivers all went out for dinner, which Lewis paid for. You all grew closer within those few hours as you learnt more about each other and the hardships in which you went through. The food was great as well and so you always love reminiscing about that moment

- team: prema is joining indycar, so why not expand their empire and start one in formula e as well? :)

- team principal: i’d like to see nico rosberg take such a job in fe ! mind you, i don’t think he’d ever really want to go back working in motorsports (valid), but since this is all fantasy, let’s assume he would actually really enjoy this + i need even more videos of him speaking in italian

- track for the the first team victory: obviously the home race in misano/rome/wherever ehehe

- dream podium: well my dream fe podium is actually weh - dac - cas, so i’ll say that one :)

Hi hazel. Have you talked/interviewed/interacted with mick schumacher? I just feel like for a person with a very famous last name, I literally have no idea about who he is as a person. I mean I know we will never know these drivers for real, but at least with others (like lando, max, lewis, george, etc) I have a general idea of what their vibe/personality is. With mick… I have nothing. He’s just there like🧍🏼‍♂️. I dont want to call him boring but he comes across as one. 😭 Do you think it’s a schumacher thing? Or a prema/ferrari driver academy thing? I feel like he’s very media managed/coached. I dont even think he has close racing friends? I mean I know he is friends with callum but I feel like it’s not as strong as callum’s friendships with other drivers. You know how Lando is? Like obviously we dont know who Lando is in real life but we know his what his vibe/personality is. That’s why it’s easy to root for him/empathize with him. It makes him familiar. I dont get the same from Mick. He is a stranger with a capital S. He’s gives me “strictly coworker energy” if you know what I’m saying. I just feel like he keeps a distance between him and other drivers. Not necessarily bad tbh. It’s just sad. He’s seems like the type of person who comes to work and then goes home immediately when it’s done. He does not hang out or tries to get to know you beyond “coworker.” Like if you were his coworker, you would only know him as Mick the man who works in the same place as me. Nothing beyond that. I dont know if that makes sense. Sorry if this is annoying. I just want to know your opinion on him or if you have an insight on who he is as a person. This is not a negative criticism against mick by the way. I’m just genuinely curious. I hope you are well Hazel. Take care.

I think something it’s important to remember is that Lando has been around for three seasons now - Mick has only done 9 F1 races, I don’t know that we had that much of a grip on the 2019 rookies by that point, really. I was working in [REDACTED] and I definitely don’t feel like I knew much about George or Alex or Lando at this point in the season.

That being said, Mick is very carefully guarded about his private life. To my knowledge, he’s good friends with a lot of drivers and especially the ones he’s raced against in junior series but he has developed under a scrutiny and media attention very few other drivers face.

Growing up the son of Michael Schumacher meant he got very shielded from the media, which is the right thing for his family to have done. He still is, to some extent, even within the F1 circus and that’s good for Mick not having the pressure of his dad’s achievements over him constantly. 

I haven’t really ever regularly interviewed him and as a member of the press, I’m one of the people he’d be most carefully media trained and curated away from. I think if Mick decides at some point that he wants to be more open then it’s not a case of his family closeting him away, just giving him the option of making it a decision, rather than something that is by default invasive to his life.

My impression of him is that he’s very sweet and sincere and isn’t exactly a closed-off person but has also been asked shitty questions about his dad every time he was interviewed. Like when Phil Duncan asked him what he thought his father would think of his F1 debut and Mick demurred the question as personal, which he has every goddamned right to.

The first time he did a press conference as part of the Grand Prix circus, making his F2 debut, he was asked the worst things about his dad. I actually can’t find the quotes now and tbh I’m glad because the level of invasion journalists seemed to think was acceptable, including asking about Michael’s condition, was absolutely horrifying. 

Mick couldn’t even win the F2 title in his own right without Ross Brawn comparing it to Michael’s victories.

So of course, Mick is careful to protect himself and his family from that, as much as possible. I’m sure there will be plenty of cute content from him, though - Haas are doing stuff with Nikita, after all, when Mick is considerably easier to sell. There was always sweet stuff with him from Prema and FDA when he was in junior series. 

But yeah: it’s only been a few races. There’s that parasocial element of perhaps not feeling like we “know” Mick, the same way we “know” Lando or whoever but that’s kind of just an extended headcanon delusion, innit. Which, like anyone in the public eye, he’ll probably eventually have woven around him.

:: They met in their early karting days so the two have known each other for a long time. 

:: Mick used his mother's last name for karting competitions and because of that Y/N didn't know he was Michael Schumacher’s son for several months. 

:: Y/N used to get alienated by her peers a lot, because she was the only girl. Mick was hesitant on being friends with other people, because of who he was. 

:: Corina saw the young girl sitting alone at a certain race and urged Mick to talk to her. 

:: BAM! instant besties. 

:: Many people around them thought they were a couple, but no- just a couple of best friends. 

:: Sebastian still has hope they will eventually get together, though (Hanna and Seb's kids are the biggest Mick x Y/N shippers). 

:: The older he got, the more introverted Mick became. Meanwhile the older Y/N got, the more extroverted she became. 

:: They provide a certain safe space for each other to be themselves without feeling any kind of judgement from the other. 

:: Y/N defended Mick each time a journalist or Steiner suggested Mick should be replaced at Haas, saying he wasn't being treated well and deserves a lot better. 

:: Mick does the same for her. He's much like Lewis and Sebastian; defending her even when she's obviously in the wrong (which she barely is, btw). 

:: They were at Prema Racing together, but in different series. 

:: They have matching bracelets that they bought in Austin. 

:: She is Angie's unofficial godmother.

:: Overall, they're one of the fan favourite friendships on the grid despite mick not being in F1 this year as a driver.

I have some of my own lil personal headcanons for TGD (Gen-Z Driver!Reader)

- She was deffo a Prema driver at some point (cuz that team is fucking elite ngl)

- She’s not only in the main F1 group chat, but the reserve drivers group chat as well because she’s the kind of person who just vibes w/ everyone

- She tends to swear a lot on the radio and could rival Yuki for the amount of times she does it in a single race😅

THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!! love that some of you have your own headcanons, this makes me so happy! 💞

Head in your hands, you slowly rose from your seat. Pacing around, waiting for Ollie's car to pull in. You clapped seeing Victor come through, congratulating him after he had walked away from his team.

You were happy for him, of course. Just because Ollie didn't win you weren't going to live in spite. But the underlying sympathy was killing you, like a knife twisting in your stomach.

You saw his face contort into a happy-sad smile, hugging his team as they still celebrated how much he achieved in the season. He turned to you, raising his eyebrows quickly, accompanying a meek shrug of his shoulders as he walked towards you.

"It's okay." Was all you said at first. As you pulled each other into a tight embrace, pulling away for quick kisses.

"It's just stupid. What's the point." He mumbled against your shoulder, as you slowly sway him from side to side.

"C'mon, let's just go home and watch some Netflix." You proposed, seeing his sad and rosy face, watching him nod as you take his hand to the car.

You set up a nice shower for him, music playing in the background with some LEDs, as you made some snacks. Ordering his favourite takeout, setting up a cosy nest full of blankets and pillows, you waited for Ollie.

"Thank you, really." He spoke out, coming from the bathroom to your left in his pyjamas.

You smiled softly at him, stretching your arms out to welcome him into the cocoon you've made, starting his favourite show. You both laid there all night, his head on your stomach as you ran your fingers through his hair, doing everything you know he loves to relax.
