I wanna hear more about omega Derek being utterly spoiled. Derek being a little bit of a brat about treats and just getting to be lazy and loved for once. Imagine it increases tenfold when he’s pregnant. Turns into an absolute menace about cravings and eating for two 😈
I could write BOOKS about this. 1) Poly!pack: Omega Derek being either offered up as a sacrifice or maybe running away and seeking shelter with another pack. His remaining family blame him for dating Kate and the fire that killed half the family, and after a failed attempt to match him with Jennifer and Deucalion...they don't have use for an Omega who no one wants to mate with. Scott's pack happily takes him in and treat him like he should be treated...the next time the Hales see their son, he's tripled in size, surrounded by at least a dozen children and his adoring partners. His new pack has made sure he's spoiled and fattened and constantly filled with pups like a good omega. 2) Stiles so, so slowly getting Derek to realize he deserves nice things after his many bad relationships. Gets him little gifts, tries to shower Derek with praise and complements. Cooks for him as often as possible. And Derek slowly gets used to this domestic bliss and settles into it, and Derek desperately wants to have ALL Stiles' babies. Worries that it's been a year and...nothing. But Stiles is unbothered, could care less either way, as long as he has Derek in his life. And turns out...Derek just needed to stop with is constant diets and workouts trying to "stay fit" for Stiles and instead to pile on a good 75lbs of padding first - and then ends up pregnant with twins.
3) Derek being grumpy and his usual sour self, trying to overcompensate for wanting nothing more than to be claimed by his Alpha and bred and fattened. So he's able to hold off until he and Stiles have a one night stand and Derek ends up pregnant. Hormonal Derek is a totally different person. He's constantly demanding affection. Foot rubs, belly rubs, complaining he's hungry even when he's only 1 month along and looks 3 months pregnant with twins because he's been eating so much. Uses the pregnancy as an excuse for everything. No - he can't help build the cribs....his back hurts. He's going to sit and tell Stiles what he's doing wrong while he eats his second lunch of the day. Oops....he used up all the hot water taking his 2 hour long bath because it helps soothe the baby from kicking (when they both know this early in the the pregnancy? it's not kicks so much as gas from the junk food Derek just scarfed down) He's an absolute brat because he knows Stiles will give him anything he wants. Loves to push Stiles and see how far he'll go and how much snark he'll tolerate. And Stiles can't get enough. He's happy to give in to whatever Derek wants (even if he teases him about it) and if Derek is always like this....he should be pregnant all the time...

now playing... Fare Well by Hozier
This was really starting to piss you off.
You fell to your knees as bile pushed up your throat, your skin paling as you vomited for the third time today. You tried to keep something, anything, down but you would just wind up curled in on yourself and sweating in the corner of the bathroom stall. You ate a couple of crackers and sipped on water to keep your empty stomach satiated– But you always ended up right back here on the bathroom floor with your head between your knees trying to will the pain away.
Emily noticed your pale complexion and how exhausted you looked, offering to get you some medicine or ask Hotch about sitting out of the next few cases. You told her you were fine, that it was just stress. That answer seemed to satisfy her enough, though she wasn’t fully convinced. To be fair, your workload had increased tenfold since JJ was forced to accept the job at the Pentagon, and you missed her terribly but you were proud of her. But you really could have used her advice right about now.
Because you swore this baby had it out for you.
You found out you were pregnant just over a week ago and you still hadn’t told Spencer. You were still wrapping your head around the whole thing because initially, you didn’t think you were pregnant, you just thought your body was dealing with the stress and workload in, frankly, a bizarre way. Hotch had wanted you to take over doing JJ’s job as communication liaison, which were rather important shoes to fill. He had total faith in your ability to do JJ’s job as well as do your own as a profiler, but you weren’t so sure anymore.
You would tell Spencer when you were ready and right now was not a good time. Everyone was surviving on four hours of sleep a night, far too many cups of coffee and sheer willpower. The absolute last thing they needed was to lose another team member. So you soldiered on like a champion– a champion who still held her head over the bureau’s less than impressive toilet while she threw her guts up.
“Y/N?” You didn’t even hear the bathroom door open, the ringing rattling around your skull distracting you from your surroundings. Penelope’s heels clicked against the tiles as she cautiously peered around the wall of the last stall where you kneeled on the ground. “Oh my god, sweet thing! What’s wrong?”
“I’m fine, Pen,” your voice was hoarse when you finally replied. You wiped your mouth with the back of your hand and tried to smooth your hair down, attempting to look at least semi-presentable before you left the bathroom to pretend everything was okay.
“No, no, my girl, you are not fine!” Penelope stood in behind you, pulling your hair out of your face as you vomited the last remnant of your soul into the toilet. “You need to talk to Hotch, you’ve got a bug or something, my dear. You shouldn’t even be at work when you’re this sick, let me talk to him for you and you just go home–”
“I’m not sick, Penelope!” You didn’t mean to shout at her, you really didn’t, you just felt awful and felt like a shell of yourself with how poorly you’d been sleeping and eating paired with all the stress of doing JJ’s job as well as your own. It was just a lot.
Penelope went quiet but stayed close to you, still holding your hair as you sat back on your heels, running your hands down your face. She let out a soft sigh, knowing you didn’t mean to shout at her. Penelope was stressed too– everyone was.
“I’m sorry, Pen,” you mumbled, your throat hurting from all the vomiting and coughing you’d managed to do today– it had to be a record honestly.
Penelope just shook her head at you, reaching her hand out toward you, “you don’t have to apologise, sweet girl, I know you’ve got a lot on your plate.” You shook your head, you still felt bad and shouting at sweet Penelope was not the way to deal with all the emotions swirling around in your head.
“It’s not fair,” you replied as she helped you to your feet, gently guiding you over to the basin to help you clean yourself up. “You’re stressed too, I didn’t mean to yell.”
Penelope brushed some of your hair out of your face, her gaze narrowing as she watched you, waiting for you to tell her what was going on. It never came and she knew she would have to push you a little. Penelope thought it was necessary though because seeing you like this was awful and she couldn’t even imagine how Spencer would react if he knew how sick you were.
“What’s going on?” Penelope’s voice was soft; gentle, just trying to get you to talk so she could help. You were stubborn when it came to asking for help and by the time you did, you had hurt yourself more than necessary trying to solve it yourself. Not this time though– Penelope refused.
“I’m okay–” you looked at Penelope and she raised her brows at you, not accepting that answer in the slightest. You sighed, knowing this is a fight you wouldn’t win. “I’m pregnant.”
Penelope’s jaw nearly hit the floor. She knew something was up with you but pregnant? That was not on this year's bingo card. “What?? Y/N that’s–” she gauged your expression and she really couldn’t tell if you were upset or happy about being pregnant. She cut herself off before she finished her sentence, pulling her lips into a line. “Are we happy about this news or are we…?”
“We’re…” you were happy. Honestly, you were. You and Spencer had talked about having kids one day, ideally after you were married but that didn’t seem to be going to plan. You’d been with Spencer for three years, in the BAU for four, it’s not like your relationship was new or in the honeymoon phase, it just wasn’t the original plan and that scared the hell out of you. But you were happy to be carrying his child– the timing was just piss poor. “We’re happy… just scared.”
“Oh, baby,” Penelope cooed. “Of course you’re scared, it’s a huge adjustment. But I know you and I know Spencer, you guys will nail this parenting business.” Penelope managed to prove time and time again why she was your best friend. You often wondered if she knew you better than you knew yourself, which wouldn’t really surprise you given her job.
“I hope so.” You smiled softly, feeling somewhat human again after splashing water on your face and washing your hands. You knew Spencer would be a good dad, he was so good with kids and he was so gentle and patient with you. He was meant to be a dad. You just weren’t sure if you were meant to be a mother. You wanted to be a family with Spencer, it made you feel warm just thinking about it, but you were a person who worried about almost everything, even the things out of your control. What scared you was how in control you were.
“I’m surprised Spencer hasn’t told everyone, that boy is obsessed with you and you’re making him a dad? God, it must be killing him sitting on this–” Penelope suddenly looked at you wide-eyed, connecting the dots all on her own. You winced as you watched her figure it out, gritting your teeth as she let out a soft gasp. “You haven’t told him?!”
You covered your face with your hands, letting out a muffled squeal of frustration into your palms. You would tell him eventually, just not right now, he was far too busy and was already stressing about his own workload, you couldn’t imagine how much more stressed he would be if he found out you were still in the field while pregnant.
“Pen, please,” you turned to her, “please keep this to yourself. I– We can’t deal with this right now. JJ’s gone and everyone is worked to the bone, I can’t do this to everyone right now, especially Spencer.” Penelope looked at you sympathetically, you knew you were asking a lot of her to keep it to herself, especially when Penelope wasn’t great at keeping secrets.
“Y/N, sweetie, you’re going to have to tell them eventually– You’re an FBI Agent. Being in the field is so dangerous and you don’t just have yourself to think about anymore.” You knew Penelope was right. You carried a gun around for Christ’s sake, you literally hunted down serial killers, active shooters, total psychopaths and everything in between. The field was no place for a pregnant woman.
“I know, I know,” you sighed, resting both of your hands on the basin in front of you.
“...How far along are you?”
“Twelve weeks,” you said softly, resting your hand against your belly. You didn’t have much of a bump yet but you were sure it would sneak up on you before you even realised. Lucky for you, you wore a lot of baggy sweaters around the office so you had some wriggle room when it came to hiding it.
“...My money’s on a girl,” Penelope was trying to make you feel better. She really was helping because the idea of Spencer hosting tea parties, getting covered in kitten stickers and his hair being covered in tiny butterfly clips made your heart swell.
You let out a soft laugh, “I think so too.”
“Alright, my love, I think we should leave this bathroom before they send out a search party,” Penelope laughed, linking her arm with yours to guide you out of the bathroom.
You honestly did feel better after talking to Penelope and throwing the rest of your guts up. She made sure to remind you about ten times to call her if you needed anything, you promised you would because it did make you feel better knowing that someone knew about your pregnancy and you didn’t have to bear the weight of the news alone.
You sat down at your desk with a sigh, sipping on your water bottle to soothe your raw throat. You popped a piece of gum in your mouth, willing the taste of bile away. You let out a huff of air as you stared down at all the paperwork you had to do. Doing JJ’s job proved to be intense, especially when you were doing your own work on top of her’s. You picked up your pen when you felt Spencer press a kiss to the crown of your head as he placed a mug of hot coffee on your desk in front of you.
You smiled, craning your neck to look up at him. Spencer took the opportunity to kiss you softly, one of his hands resting on the side of your desk while the other rested on the back of your chair. You smiled against his lips, “shouldn’t you be working?” You teased.
“Are you trying to get me to go away?” Spencer looked at you curiously. You rolled your eyes playfully because of course you didn’t want him to go away. If anything, you wanted him to pick you up and take you home right this second.
“Yes, Spencer,” you replied sarcastically, “I’m trying to get you to go away.” Spencer wasn’t great with sarcasm but he had come to understand your humour over the years. He just grinned and pressed another kiss to your lips.
“Sarcasm is rooted in truth, angel,” Spencer retorted with a gentle smile.
“I am joking, but we both have a lot of work to do, Spence. I don’t know how I’m going to manage doing JJ’s job as well as my own,” you sighed, leaning back in your chair.
“There’s a reason Hotch wanted you to do it. I don’t think he could have picked anyone more capable,” Spencer replied. Maybe it was the hormones and the fact you were carrying a baby, but the comment made you want to cry. Spencer frowned as he watched your face fall, “what’s wrong, angel?”
“No, nothing,” You replied, sniffling quietly. You gave him a genuine smile, “I’m fine, Spence. I promise–”
“New case just came in,” Morgan called to the two of you, gesturing toward the meeting room at the back of the office with a manila folder in his hand.
You looked at Morgan with a confused expression because now it was your job to decide what cases the team took after JJ’s departure. Morgan told you the case went straight to Hotch this time; an old friend had called in a favour.
Spencer pulled a chair out for you, taking the seat right beside you in the meeting room. You opened the case file the moment Penelope dropped it in front of you.
“The victims are 20-year-old Evan Miller and 21-year-old Daniel Clark, both engineering students at Caltech. They were shot three days apart outside their family homes in the local area of Pasadena, California.” You followed along with Penelope as she gave a run down of the victims and the circumstances of their deaths.
The killings were straightforward, the UnSub didn’t try to dispose of the bodies and the men were simply shot in the head execution style. It didn’t seem like the doings of a serial killer who would usually seek some kind of sexual release from torturing and killing their victims. If anything, it seemed like revenge killings.
“They were just shot?” Emily questioned, eyebrows furrowed as she stared at the crime scene photos.
“Once in the head,” Hotch replied, “there were no witnesses around which suggests the UnSub knew the routine of the victims and the neighbourhood.”
“Could be a stalker?” Penelope suggested.
“Stalker victims are usually the object of a stalker’s affection, they rarely act in violence let alone such a blunt killing,” You replied, confused by the nature of such a straightforward murder.
Spencer flicked through the victim’s files, “the single shot to the head suggests the UnSub just wanted them dead. No physical evidence of sexual release or torture… This could be some kind of revenge killing.”
“Did these victims know each other?” You asked.
“According to their parents, they came from the same friend group,” Penelope replied.
“Wheels up in thirty. Garcia, you're coming with us. Get your go bag,” Hotch said, quickly standing up from his chair. Penelope made a small noise of surprise before quickly ushering out of the meeting room. Hotch didn’t usually have Penelope come along but given you were short a very valuable member of your team, Penelope had started coming along more often. Not that you would ever complain having Penelope around.
You pinned up the last of the crime scene photos on the board, standing back with your hands on your hips. Spencer was writing on the whiteboard next to you, jotting down all the things you knew about the victims and possible motives of the UnSub. Hotch and Morgan were engaging in formalities with the local detectives on the case while Penelope got herself settled in the makeshift office they had set up for the team.
“The parents of the victims are here,” Emily poked her head into the office. “Y/N, Hotch wants you to talk to Ben and Sarah Miller, I’ve got the Clarks.”
“Alright, I got it,” you replied, letting out a dejected sigh.
“You okay?” Spencer gently tucked some of your hair behind your ear, turning his full attention to you. You let out another sigh, nodding your head tiredly. “You can do this,” he said quietly, his eyes shifting between yours.
“Yeah, I know,” you smiled softly. Spencer planted a soft kiss on your cheek before leaving the office, leaving Spencer and Penelope alone.
“...I think she needs a break,” Penelope said after a beat.
Spencer looked at her, eyebrows furrowed, “what makes you say that?”
Penelope tried to be as inconspicuous as possible, “she’s doing JJ’s job and her own. I mean, I think she’s the right girl for the job but… you know what she’s like.”
Spencer sighed, he knew exactly what you were like. You always held yourself and your work to such a high standard and you often overworked yourself to make everyone happy. “Yeah, I know. I’ll talk to her when we get back to the hotel.”
“I think that’s a great idea, lover boy,” Penelope grinned.
You opened the office door, files in hand. Mr and Mrs Miller immediately stood up as you entered and you gave them a sympathetic smile. Mrs Miller had clearly been crying, still clutching a tissue in her hand while her husband paced around the office.
“Please, have a seat, Mr Miller,” you said gently.
“I’ll stand,” he replied firmly. You decided not to argue and sat down on the chair opposite the couch where Mrs Miller sat.
“Mrs Miller, I’m Agent L/N, I’m with the Behavioural Analysis Unit in the FBI–”
“FBI?” She questioned. “Was Evan in trouble?”
“We suspect he and his friend Daniel were killed by the same person,” you explained. Mrs Miller let out a soft gasp, her hand coming to rest over her mouth.
“Is it alright if I ask you a few questions about Evan?” You asked. Sarah didn’t say anything but she nodded her head, fresh tears forming in her eyes. “Daniel and Evan knew each other, right?”
“They went to high school together,” Sarah replied, her voice shaking. “They were so excited when they both got into Caltech,” she smiled sadly, fresh tears streaming down her face.
“Do you have any idea who killed our son?” Ben asked, his voice sounding angry.
“That’s what we’re here for,” you said, “we’re here to find who killed your son and why–”
“‘Why”?” Ben repeated, “he was just a kid.”
You sighed softly, “I understand that, sir. We’re just trying to figure out a possible connection.”
“Evan and Daniel were good kids. They would never hurt a fly,” Sarah frowned, sniffling softly as she began crying again.
“Did Daniel and Evan hang around the same social groups?” You asked, turning your attention to Mr Miller, who was still pacing around the office with his arms crossed. “Maybe in some kind of extracurricular activities?”
“They were both on the college basketball team,” Ben said after a beat. “Why? You think this asshole is going to kill more of these kids?”
“I am just trying to get an idea of the social groups Evan and Daniel were a part of,” you didn’t want to get into the gory details of why you were asking such questions and decided they were both far too emotional for you to keep asking them questions; you would let Hotch handle it. “I need to speak with my team but I’ll be right outside if you need anything.” You rested a hand on Mrs Miller’s shoulder and you couldn’t shake how much you missed JJ doing this part.
You let out a sigh as you left the office, rubbing the tension in the back of your neck. You slowly walked over to Hotch, “Evan was on the Caltech Basketball team, he and Daniel went to high school together and Evan’s parents were adamant he was a good kid. I think he was a good kid, just got involved with the wrong people.”
Hotch let out a breath, “I want you and Prentiss to go to the school, talk to the faculty, basketball team coach, anything you can get.”
You nodded, gesturing to Emily on the other side of the bullpen. She firmly nodded at you and the two of you left for the school.
The team worked the case for two days before another body showed up. Everyone was starting early and finishing late to find the person who was doing this and you worked closely with the detectives and other officers on the case. Hotch gave the profile as soon as the team was certain but given the demographic of the suburban areas he was targeting these boys, it was rather unremarkable. The third body belonged to 21-year-old Oliver Marsh, another Caltech student studying Physics. He was shot once in the head while walking his dog no further than a block from his house.
You stood in the middle of Oliver’s bedroom staring at the posters and certificates that littered his walls. Spencer rifled through papers on his desk, mostly finding papers related to physics journals and essays for school. Emily and David were downstairs talking to the parents while Hotch and Morgan went to see the crime scene.
You walked over to his bedside table pulling it open. There were a lot of birthday cards and a game boy but what caught your attention was the little clear yellow bottles with white caps. You lifted the first bottle out, reading the label–
“Oliver was taking Oxycodone,” you said softly, catching Spencer’s attention. “...And Escitalopram,” you spun on your heel, showing Spencer the two bottles. Spencer took the bottles from your hands, eyebrows furrowed as he carefully read the labels. “Chronic pain?” you suggested.
“Could be,” Spencer replied. “He could have been taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatories too, they’re typically over the counter.”
You rifled through the drawer again, pulling out a blue box, “Yeah, he was taking Ibuprofen too.”
“We should talk to the parents,” Spencer said. You nodded and the two of you ushered down the stairs to where his parents sat in the living room with David and Emily. “Was Oliver suffering from chronic pain?” Spencer quickly questioned before he even fully made it into the living room.
Oliver’s mother held a tissue to her nose, glancing at Emily with a confused expression. You put your hand on Spencer’s bicep, “Has Oliver injured himself recently? Maybe a fall or injury while playing sports?”
Oliver’s father shook his head, “No, not recently. He’s been on those antidepressants for a few years and takes the codeine when he has– had flare-ups.”
“Flare-ups?” David asked pointedly.
“He was in a car accident four years ago,” Mrs Marsh said, “He was in the passenger seat and was in a coma for two weeks… he hadn’t really been the same after that, got really sad and antisocial… he was in a lot of pain too.”
“He had to stop playing Football and running track, his body just couldn’t keep up,” Mr Marsh added, his eyes glazing over. “He lost a lot of friends, I don’t think I ever saw him hang out with anyone, Physics became everything to him.”
“Do you have evidence of his medical records anywhere?” Spencer asked. “Just so I can look them over.”
“Uh, yeah, of course,” Mrs Marsh stood up, Spencer following her to their home office on the other side of the house.
You sat down across from Mr Marsh, “The accident he was in,” you started, “what happened?”
He looked at you with a pain in his eyes, “He was in the car with some of his friends and they were driving home from a party and it was late. I think they were all…” he hesitated for a moment, “they were all drunk.”
“Who was in the car?” Emily asked, not liking where this was going.
“...Evan Miller and Daniel Clark,” his father began to cry, holding his hand over his mouth. You felt your eyes widen, this was a revenge killing.
“Who was driving, Mr Marsh?” David asked quickly.
“Um, god–” He sniffled softly, “Peter… Peter something, he was older than them, I really don’t remember.”
“Thank you, Mr Marsh,” You stood up, quickly moving to the front door to call Penelope. You pulled out your phone, dialling her number. She picked up after the first ring.
“How may I be of service, oh queen of my country?” she sang, her fingers typing furiously against her keyboard.
“I need you to look into an accident for me, four years ago,” you said with your hand on your hip. “Oliver Marsh, Daniel Clark and Evan Miller were all in the accident too. See if you can find newspaper articles, news segments, anything– I think we know who the last target is.”
“Right, give me a moment,” Penelope replied. You heard her typing before she stopped, “Oh no…” she mumbled softly.
“What’s wrong, Pen?” You furrowed your brows.
“Peter Harvey,” Penelope sighed, “he’s the last boy… He was driving with three other high school boys; Oliver, Daniel and Evan when they struck an oncoming car and killed a pregnant woman on impact; her husband walked away without a scratch.”
“Shit.” You cursed, “What’s his name?”
“Jonathan Hughes, his wife was Katherine… she was 8 months pregnant, Y/N.” Penelope sounded so pained and you knew she was thinking of you and the small baby you were carrying. “Y/N…”
“I know, Pen… After this case wraps up… I’ll tell everyone,” you replied with a gentle sigh.
“And you’ll take time off?” Penelope sounded like she was lecturing you.
You smiled to yourself, “Yeah, Penelope. I’ll take some time off.”
“Okay… I’ll send Hotch and Morgan Jonathan’s last known address, I’m sending you Peter Harvey’s address–”
Your phone beeped as Penelope sent the address through. “Where would I be without you, Pen?”
“Nowhere good, my love,” you could hear the smile in her voice. You quickly hung up before walking back into the Marsh’s house.
Emily and David turned to look at you, “We’ve got him.”
“Alright, you guys go, I’ll grab Reid and we’ll be right behind you,” David waved you off and Emily quickly ushered the two of you to the car.
Emily was speeding toward the address Penelope had given you while you called Hotch and Morgan, filling them in on all the information Penelope had given you. They agreed to go to Jonathan’s address to hopefully intersect him before he left for Peter Harvey. You were always nervous when it came to these parts of the case because you couldn’t control the outcome no matter how hard you tried. A grieving man was going around killing these young men and while it was awful what he was doing; you could sympathise with him and the pain he was feeling over losing his wife and unborn child.
You instinctively rested a hand over your belly, your thumb stroking the small curve. You couldn’t even imagine how much pain Spencer would be in if he lost you, let alone your child too. You would tell him and you would ask Hotch about taking some time off later in your pregnancy and sitting out of cases like this.
“Shit he’s already here,” Emily cursed when she noticed Jonathan’s SUV parked a couple of blocks from Peter’s address. “Call Hotch.”
You dialled Hotch’s number and he picked up almost instantly, “What is it, L/N?”
“He’s already here, his SUV is parked a couple blocks down from Peter’s address. He’s already out looking for him,” You quickly said.
“We’re on our way, units are already on route,” he hung up after that.
Emily pulled the car up on the gutter, the car skidding to a stop. You immediately pushed the door open, holding your gun by your thigh as you ran across the lawn to Peter Harvey’s house. You knocked on the door and a woman answered after a beat.
“Mrs Harvey?” You asked, panting softly.
“Yes?”
“Is your son Peter here?”
“No, he went to the store down the street an hour ago, he should be back soon… What is this about?” She asked, her hand gripping the door in concern.
“We believe someone dangerous may be looking for your son,” Emily said. Mrs Harvey rested her hand over her mouth, a soft gasp leaving her lips.
“Mom?” You spun around and Peter stood with a plastic bag of groceries in his hand in the middle of the lawn.
It all happened almost in slow motion. You saw a figure wearing dark clothes stalking across the lawn and without even thinking, you darted toward Peter as the UnSub pulled the gun out of his coat, aiming it straight at Peter’s head. You could hear Emily yelling at Mrs Harvey to go back inside before she pulled out her gun and aimed it at the UnSub; but it was too late.
You shoved Peter to the ground as he fired, feeling the shot burn through your shoulder as both you and Peter fell to the ground. You instinctively pressed a hand to your burning shoulder, warm blood oozing from the wound and through your fingers.
“Jonathan Hughes?” You said, your breathing heavy as you tried to fight through the pain. He held his gun right in front of your face.
“Move,” he grunted, his eyes glassy.
“I know what happened to your wife,” you breathed trying to stall him as more police cars with blaring sirens pulled into the street.
“They killed her,” tears streamed down his face and you honestly felt bad for him.
“It was an accident,” you replied softly.
“They were drunk,” he almost yelled, his hand shaking as his gun was still trained on you.
“I know,” you said, “It was a stupid mistake that haunted them, Jonathan. I know it doesn’t change what happened but these boys–”
“They’re monsters!” he shouted, hot tears streaming down his cheeks.
You saw David and Spencer get out of the car. Spencer’s heart was in his throat when he saw you kneeled on the ground, shielding Peter with your body while your hand and shirt were covered in your own blood. He didn’t even pick up his gun as he began stalking toward you.
“Y/N?” His voice was soft when he called you at first, then it turned to outright concern and anger, “Y/N? No, no!”
David grabbed Spencer’s arm, pulling him back as Spencer fought against him, trying to get to you. It was irrational and it was dangerous. David quickly picked up his walkie, “An agent has been shot, we need an ambulance.”
“Who was shot?!” Penelope’s voice rang out in the car as she spoke to Morgan and Hotch.
“I repeat, agent L/N is shot, we need an ambulance,” David spoke before putting his walkie away to hold Spencer back, pulling him to the ground.
“Morgan! Oh my god!” Penelope felt tears form in her eyes.
“It’s okay, babygirl, she’s going to be alright,” Morgan said, trying to reassure her as Hotch stepped on the accelerator.
“No, Morgan, you don’t understand–”
“We’re going to get an ambulance–”
“She’s pregnant!” Penelope blurted out, not knowing what else to say for them to understand the gravity of why Penelope was so upset and concerned.
Hotch hesitated for a moment, “She’s what?”
Penelope let out a shaky breath, “she’s twelve weeks pregnant, Hotch. She wasn’t going to tell anyone until after the case– and now she’s been shot.” Penelope began to cry, holding her hand over her mouth as tears slipped from her eyes.
Hotch hadn’t sped that fast since he found out Foyet was in his house. He cared about his team a lot and he had a soft spot for you even though he wouldn’t admit it. The tires skidded along the road as Hotch pulled on the handbrake, both him and Morgan training their guns on the UnSub as they approached.
Morgan’s heart hurt at the sight of you, your skin slightly paled as blood bloomed from your shoulder, drenching your arm and your hands. You looked so scared as the UnSub trained his gun on you, unmoving. Emily had her gun aimed at the UnSub, yelling for him to put it down.
“Jonathan Hughes!” Morgan’s voice caught your attention. “Put down the gun!”
“Don’t move!” Jonathan shouted, “I’ll shoot her!”
“No you won’t, man,” Morgan shook his head.
“How do you know that!? She’s in my way!” He shouted back.
“She’s pregnant,” Morgan sighed. Your eyes widened as you looked at Morgan, who looked back at you with a sad expression.
Spencer stopped fighting against David, his breathing evening out as the words fell on his ears. You were pregnant. You were carrying his baby and you got shot and now you had a gun held up in front of your face. Spencer didn’t even realise he was crying, his tears cold against his warm skin. All he could do was watch, there was nothing he could do.
Jonathan glanced at you as you held your hand over your belly. “W-What?”
Morgan reached a hand out as he got closer. “Just like your wife, Jonathan… You wouldn’t kill a pregnant woman like those boys did.”
Jonathan seemed to dissociate, staring at you with such a hurt expression as Morgan leapt forward, grabbing the gun from Jonathan’s hands and tossing it across the grass. He pushed Jonathan to the ground, pinning his hands behind his back. You let out a breath as you felt yourself grow tired. Emily caught you before you fell the rest of the way to the ground, holding you close to her body as she screamed for a medic.
“You’re okay, you’re okay,” Emily gently rocked you, “you’re going to be fine.”
“I’m sorry,” you muttered, tears running down your cheeks.
Your eyes were heavy as you attempted to pry them open.
You let out a shaky breath as you finally pulled your eyes open, the smell of disinfectant hit you first, followed by the sounds of beeping. You were in the hospital. You glanced down at your arm, an IV stuck in your arm while a pulse oximeter was clipped to your finger. Despite the fact the doctor had prescribed pain medication, you still felt like shit and your shoulder was killing you.
A soft noise caught your attention and you glanced at the chair next to your bed, Spencer sound asleep in a chair with a hospital blanket draped over him. You smiled softly as you saw the flowers, balloons and plushies littered around your room, most likely a courtesy of Penelope.
“She’s awake,” Morgan smiled, standing in the doorway.
You grinned at him, “Hi, Derek.”
Morgan slowly walked over to your bed. “Feeling okay, pretty girl?” Morgan gently grabbed your hand, giving it a soft squeeze.
“I’m okay,” you replied. You almost didn’t want to ask but you knew you had to, “...is the baby okay?”
“Your baby is fine,” Morgan replied with a soft smile. You let out a breath of relief as you placed a hand over your tummy protectively. “...You scared the life out of everyone though.”
“I know,” you sighed.
“Especially your lover boy,” Morgan said, “he hasn’t left your side.”
“Sounds like my Spencer,” you laughed softly.
“Y/N?” Spencer’s voice was laced with sleep as he opened his eyes. He quickly got up, ditching the blanket on the floor to tend to you.
“I’ll leave you to it,” Morgan quickly said before leaving the room.
Spencer’s warm hands cupped your face as he pressed a kiss to your forehead, “I thought I lost you, Y/N.” He let out a breath, pulling away to stare at your face and stroke your cheeks with his thumbs. You reached a hand up to grip his forearm.
“I’m sorry–”
“You don’t need to–”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.” Tears formed in your eyes as you stared up at him, searching for any kind of anger or resentment. There wasn’t any, he could never be mad at you.
“I wouldn’t have let you come on the case,” he replied after a beat. “I wouldn’t have let you leave the house.”
“That’s why I didn’t tell you… I knew you would be protective– more protective,” you corrected with a soft smile.
“I’m aware,” Spencer pulled his lips into a tight smile. “You know the odds of… complications are higher in the first trimester, angel. You should have told me,” he frowned.
“I know, Spence,” you sighed. “I just wanted to make sure I was in the clear before I told you… I understand being shot isn’t necessarily helping with that but–”
“I understand,” he replied. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”
You stared at him for a moment, “are you happy?”
“Happy?”
“That I’m pregnant? I know we’re not married and our jobs are crazy but–”
Spencer cut you off by pressing a kiss to your lips, he pulled away slightly, “I’ve never been more happy,” he whispered.
You beamed with happiness, a bright smile tugging on your lips. Spencer hesitantly pressed a hand to your belly, his thumb stroking your tiny bump.
“Penelope thinks it’s a girl,” you muttered.
“...What do you think?” He asked curiously.
“I think she might be right,” you giggled softly.
“You know you can’t actually tell yet,” Spencer said and you rolled your eyes playfully.
“You asked what I thought!” you retorted.
He laughed softly, “Yes, you’re right, you’re right.”
“Mmm, did that taste like poison to admit?”
“Are gunshot victims supposed to be this mouthy?”

Unfit, or fit?
I actually love this recommendation so much, hope you love it @ilovethepipecleaner !💋
Gist: Spencer and you had never really thought about having kids because you both grew up in broken homes, so what happens when you find out your expecting a little one.
You felt hands running up and down your stomach as you groggily opened your eyes.
A smile crept onto your face as you realized you were in your husbands embrace.
“Good morning Dr.” you said teasingly as you shifted onto your back to look at Spence who was staring at you hair askew and mess.
“Good morning Mrs. Reid.” He said as he bent down to give you a kiss, Spencer and you had been married for almost a year now and he still loved calling you by your new last name.
“We gotta get ready for work.” He said getting up from the bed and walking over to your shared closet. His statement causing you to groan, you wanted a few more minutes to stay in bed with Spencer but you knew serial killers don’t wait.
“Im coming” you said as you got up from bed joining Spencer in the closet.
You walked out the elevator hand in hand with Spencer as you made a disgusted face at the comment Spencer had made in the elevator talking about how many micro-organisms were currently on your face.
“You couldn’t give me any other statistic Spence?” You say with a disgusted face causing Reid to chuckle.
“OHHHH, if it isn’t my favorite married couple.” You heard a familiar cheery voice say from the hallway causing Spencer and you to look up with smiles in both of your face’s already knowing who the voice belonged to.
“Pen!” You said letting go of Reid’s hand to embrace your shot of sunlight. “My sweet girl!” She said hugging you so tight you thought you’d throw up your breakfast….but the thought made your stomach queasy and when Penelope let you go you lifted your hand up to your mouth gagging a bit as you felt your saliva and mouth get hot. Clear indicators you were going to throw up, quickly realizing this you ran over to the large trash can in the hallway and hurled your insides out.
Spencer and Pen were quick to reach your side as Spencer grabbed your hair into a makeshift pony tail and pen rubbed circles on your back.
“Y/N ? Are you alright?” Spencer said as you got up wiping your mouth. You nodded “yeah I am.” You said a little confused on what caused you to throw up.
“Maybe it was something you ate for breakfast?” Pen offered a conclusion and you nodded in agreement.
Spencer seemed a little iffy but all of you agreed for that to be the case. “Ima go wash up I’ll meet you at the briefing.” You say to both of them as you walk towards the bathroom.
It was odd lately your body had been feeling different, you had been feeling more nauseous lately but you had always made rational conclusions for it, like a stomach bug or an allergy you didn’t know you had. Your breast had been sore lately but you always concluded it to Spencer and his tight grips during sex.
Spitting the sink water out your mouth you looked at your reflection in the mirror, a thought suddenly dawned on you.
Pregnant…
The word flashed into your mind causing you to look at your stomach. There was no way right? You were on the pill because you and Spencer agreed you both weren’t ready to discuss having kids yet.
However
The pill didn’t mean you were 100% free from getting pregnant. Unvoluntarily you moved your hand to your stomach feeling for something??
No you couldn’t be a mom, how could you be a mom? You didn’t have a mom growing up your mom had always been absent. She was always out in clubs, drinking and partying, and when she was home she was sleeping her hangover away and waking up just in time to go to her Waffle House night shift. Leaving you alone to take the bus to school, coming home to an empty home, not just physically but emotionally too. Your mother seemed to want to be around everyone else but you, only once had you heard I love you fall from your mothers lips towards you, and she was in her drunken state. It had been a late night after the club and she walked into your room reeking of alcohol as you read a book. She walked over falling to her knees and begging you to forgive her and she spat out I love you’s.
Yet the next morning it was like the night never happened and she didn’t even remember. Your father had died when you were 4 so you didn’t remember much of him at all. How could you be a mom if you never had one to teach you how to be one?
“Y/N?” A voice came from the bathroom door snapping you out of your thoughts. JJ stood at the door a confused expression on her face “you okay?” She asked as you walked over to her. “Yeah of course why do you ask?” You responded with plastering a smile on your face. She eyed you up and down analyzing if you were being truthful “nothing, just came to get you because were about to start the briefing.” She said as you both walked out the bathroom and towards the glass doors.
“Oh okay thank you.” You said smiling at her as she sent you a warm motherly smile.
JJ was a mom she was an excellent mom, always boasting about her kids expressing how proud she was, how much she loved them. You’d want to be like JJ if you’d ever were a mom, sometimes you’d think how lucky Henry and Michael were to have such a loving and caring mom like JJ. You’d seen how JJ would give her life up for her children how her children would be her first priority edite anything else.
“Okay since we’re all here let’s start.” Pen said as you and JJ took a seat in the round table as Pen described the case.
The case had taken a turn for the worst, the unsub was more unpredictable than any of you thought. He managed to escape from the house when Morgan broke down the door which brought you to where you were now, chasing after him in a car. Morgan drove as you rode shot gun shot gun and being his extra set of eyes. The rest of the team were in different cars taking different roads to be able to find a way to surround the unsub.
“He took a right at blíndale street!” You shouted at Morgan as he quickly turned the car right. Turning to look at the dashboard Morgan was hitting 85mph to keep up with the unsub.
“I lost him!” Morgan yelled as you looked back up to the street scanning for the blue minivan. Infront of tow cars you spotted it again as the unsub was wrong way driving. “I see him he’s over there!” You said pointing to the mini van as Morgan spotted him. Morgan turned sharply as cars began braking and beeping.
You turned your attention to the oncoming traffic spotting a 18 wheeler coming straight towards you. Your eyes widened “Morgan watch out!” You screamed as the truck got closer and you closed your eyes waiting for impact. “Hold on Y/N!” Morgan yelled putting his hand over your body like a seat belt as the 18 wheeler came tumbling towards y’all.
The strength of the hit caused the car to flip over 5 times landing on the side. Air bags hit your face and the seatbelt felt like the tightest thing around your body burning your chest with its grip. You whimpered in pain as the car stopped rolling and came to a stop. The smell of oil filling your lungs and the ringing in your ears louder than anything you’ve ever heard before. Your eyelids heavy and head throbbing you blacked out.
The coldness hit your skin as you felt goosebumps form on your arms. You felt pain shot onto your chest causing you to groan and scrunch you face, immediately there was a presence hovering over you and a voice “Honey? Honey? Can you hear me?” Spencer’s quiet voice sounded so beautiful to your ears as you slowly blinked your eyes open. The bright white fluorescent lights blinds you temporarily, you shifted your aching neck at Spencer. His eyebrows furrowed his eyes sad and desperate, his hands gripping onto yours as if he were to let go you would disappear.
“Spence?” You murmured out
“Yeah baby I’m here.” He said moving a strand of hair out of your face and tucking it behind your ear.
“What happened?” Was all you could say trying to remember anything.
“There was an accident you got hit by a 18 wheeler.” He said caressing your cheek.
Memories flooded back into your mind gasping as you remembered Morgan.
“Oh my God is Morgan okay?!” You asked trying to sit up and groaning in pain. Quickly Spencer positioned you back down “hey no no no, stay still Morgan’s okay he has a broken arm but other than that he’s doing okay.” Spencer assured you causing you to relax.
“He broke his arm because of me.” You say looking at Spencer remembering how Morgan’s first instinct was to protect you.
“Because he loves you, he chose to willingly protect you. It’s not your fault.” Spencer said looking down at your chest.
Your eyes following his as you say your hospital gown had blood around your chest. Curious you pulled down the gown from your shoulders revealing a rash across your chest.
“The seatbelt caused that.” Spencer’s voice rang out.
“The seat belt saved you.” Spencer said quietly as if he was telling himself those words.
“Mr. & Mrs. Reid?” A woman’s voice came from the room door, it was a doctor.
“Yes that’s us.” Spencer said getting up from his seat as the doctor walked in to stand by your bed a smile on her face.
“I have purely good news!” The small blonde doctor beamed with a smile on her face as she opened her clipboard.
“The rash will heal in about 2 months time and we will be providing ointment for the itchiness it may cause.” She said as Spencer and you smiled.
“And no internal damage was cause to you or your baby.” She finished off as she closed her clipboard looking between you and Spencer.
The room was quiet.
Did she just say baby?
No?
Did she?
No?
You were hallucinating, you had to be… right?
“Excuse me baby?” Spencer’s voice cracked as he stared at the doctor.
“Yes… I’m sorry did you not know you were pregnant Mrs?” The blonde turned to look at you puzzled.
“N-no.” You say quickly
“You’re 8 weeks pregnant, your baby’s organs are beginning to form.” She says opening her clipboard again and looking at her medical charts for you.
“I will take my leave now, call me if you need anything.” The blonde says giving a polite smile and walking out of the room leaving you and Spencer in silence.
It was deafening quite, Spencer was frozen in place his eyes a mixture of emotions as he stared into space.
Your eyes began to swell up with tears. Memory’s of your childhood flooding your head, you couldn’t be a mom you didn’t know how to be a mom. This would end badly, what if you were like your own mom or worse? Tears ran down your cheeks like water flow.
“I’m so sorry Spencer.” You cracked out, you knew Spencer wasn’t jumping at the opportunity to have kids he had told you before he never had a dad so he wouldn’t know how to be one. Spencer loved his mom but she wasn’t a role model or 100% there all the time like she should have been.
“I’m so so sorry.” You said again bringing your hand to cover your mouth.
Spencer turned his head towards you taking in your crying face.
“Baby…shhh shhh shh.” He said sitting back down and wiping your fallen tears.
“I know you don’t want to be a dad.” You said holding his hand the rested on your cheek.
“What makes you think that?” He said his eyes pained
“You said before you didn’t have a dad so you wouldn’t want to put your own child through what you’ve been through.” You said your voice weak.
“I know baby but i know I won’t be the man my father was, because I have you. Because we’re doing this together.” He said kissing your eyelids.
“What if I’m like her.” You said looking up at Spencer.
He knew who you were talking about and he hated that you thought that about yourself.
“Baby you won’t be like her, because you aren’t her… you’ve already proven that because you show love and support to your friends, because you are able to show your love and affection through words and actions. That already proves you are nothing like her.” Spencer says rubbing his thumb up and down your cheek.
You nod your head soaking in his words.
“We’re gonna do this together.” He says smiling softly
“Promise?” You ask
“Promise.” He responds kissing you.
“Mommy mommy bedtime story!” Little Alice says as she crawls into her toddler bed you giggle as you turn the little lamp on in her room by her bed side.
“How about daddy tells you as story instead?” You say as Spencer walks into the room and smiles widely.
“Yes yes!” She says as you slide in next to her in bed.
“What about the story of Rumple Buttercup?” Spencer says sitting on the other side of Alice so she lays in between you two.
Alice giggles “that’s a weird name daddy!” Spencer smiles
“That’s the point princess Rumple is weird.” He says matching his daughter’s wide grin.
You watch both of them a smile spread across your face, you did it. Both of you, you both did it together.
You learned and grew and you couldn’t be more proud of the parents you both were.
You couldn’t be more proud of Alice your little angel your saving grace. You both had no idea how much you needed her until you both had her. You can’t imagine a world without Alice, you’d made a promise to always protect her no matter what, she was a part of you and Spencer put together.
Spencer got up from the bed snapping your attention away from your thoughts.
You looked down at a snoring Alice.
You smiled as you bent down to caress her cheek and place a kiss on her forehead “I love you angel.” You whispered as you got up and Spencer stared at you.
“What?” You smiled as he walked over to you wrapping his arms around your waist.
“You look so beautiful as a mom.” Spencer said kissing your cheek causing you to smile.
“You think so?” You teased lifting your arms to wrap around his neck.
“You’re the most beautiful woman.” He said burring his head into your neck as you both rocked in place.
Everything was so perfect.
“I love you.” He whispered into your skin.
“Thank you for everything for giving me what I didn’t know I needed.” He added as he kissed your neck affectionately.
“I love you more.” You responded tears brewing in your eyes.
No because I had so much fun writing this, it was so cute. I hope you all like this as much as I did!

Ours | Derek Hale Oneshot
Word Count: 3.5K Requested by @gracelynn318: "Derek or Stiles finding out that their significant other (the reader) is pregnant and they try to keep it secret for as long as possible" Warnings: pregnancy, pregnancy symptoms (vomiting, nausea, fatigue)
Summary: Derek Hale and (Y/N) have been together for a long time, and they didn't know something was missing from their lives until it arrived unexpectedly. And all they want to do is revel in the moment for as long as they can, by themselves.
A/N: this story follows 0% of canon, just the character's names. will admit. I am a horrible Teen Wolf fan that has yet to see season 5 and 6, and I've also yet to watch the movie. So, definitely an AU 😬also, be on the lookout for tonight or tomorrow for another surprise regarding this request 😉😉
Derek had noticed the change long before (Y/N) had. Long before she knew why she spent her days expelling her meals down the toilet drain, before she understood why her body craved more food than she could keep down, before she had even noticed that a month had passed and her period had not arrived.
It came late at night. The soft putter of a heartbeat that felt so far that it could have been confused with the sound of rain against the pavement. They had been lying in bed, the exhaustion of living in Beacon Hills the only thing they needed to crash at night. But the sound had been bothering Derek. The continuous rhythm didn’t allow the wolf to lose himself in much-needed slumber. The sound kept him up, especially from where it was coming from.
“(Y/N),” he whispered, running his hand up and down her arm to wake her. “(Y/N), baby, wake up.”
“Mm,” she groaned groggily, cuddling to his body tightly. “Go to sleep, Derek.”
“(Y/N), I gotta ask you something. Wake up.”
“We can talk in the morning,” she whined. “I’m tired right now.”
“It’s important,” he chuckled softly. “I need your complete focus.”
With a loud exhale, (Y/N) sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The sheet fell from her torso, and the coldness of the night made her skin erupt in goosebumps. She rarely got angry with Derek, but she was coming quite close at that very moment. “You better have a good reason to wake me, Der,” she said. “I’m so tired I might just put off killing you until tomorrow.”
“Listen, please,” he said. “When was the last time you got your period?”
“What?” the girl questioned. “You seriously just woke me up to ask about my cycle?”
“More or less. Just answer. Did you get it last month?”
It took her a moment to think. The grogginess of being woken up still clutched her mind, and recounting the past weeks was hard. But her body startled awake as she realized she had not gotten her shark week in a month and a half. That fact alone did not scare her. She had always been irregular, and in moments of stress, it was more likely than not that she skipped a cycle. The problem was that not only had she missed a period, she had been feeling sick for the past three weeks. And the math was not too hard to do.
“I-I didn’t,” she stammered. “W-why are you asking?”
“Oh my god,” he answered. “Oh my god!”
“What? What’s wrong?”
Instead of answering, Derek pressed his ear to her stomach until he could hear the sound clearly. Alongside (Y/N)’s quickening heartbeat, a quieter, steady pattern joined. It was too indistinguishable now. “You’re pregnant,” he said. So quiet he wasn’t sure if he had said it at all. “There’s a baby in there. Our baby.”
“Pregnant…” (Y/N) could not believe the word even as it rolled out of her tongue. “I can’t believe it.”
“We’ll go to Deaton tomorrow, but I’m certain. I can hear their heart beating in there.”
(Y/N)’s mind was reeling. Pregnant, she thought to herself. The word felt foreign. So did her body. Derek had noticed the change before her. How could she not have known that a life was growing inside her? How could she ever be a mother when she did not even know herself?
Without realizing it, tears fell down her cheeks. She felt weak and panicked. The strong woman that had faced the biggest dangers and far scarier monsters trembled with the thought of a life depending on her for survival. It was one thing to volunteer to protect the members of the pack. They were old enough to fend for themselves. It was another to be responsible for the life and survival of another human.
“Hey,” Derek called. His voice sounded like it was underwater. So far away that she could barely hear it. “Baby, what’s going on?”
She hadn’t noticed that she had stood from the bed and was pacing around their room. Her breathing was shallow, and her chest heaved as she took in short breaths, trying to steady herself. Tears kept falling faster than she could wipe them away. They warmed her cheeks before the air turned them cold. It was the only thing that grounded her.
And Derek. Always Derek.
He had gotten off the bed, and within a second, he was wrapping his arms around her. The warmth from his skin calmed her. It brought her senses back to the moment, steadying her rampant heart.
“What’s wrong, (Y/N)?” he spoke into the crook of her neck. “Tell me what I can do to make it better.”
“I’m scared, Derek,” she sighed, tightening her grip around him. “A baby. Here. Now.”
“Why not here?” Derek smiled, his hands running through her hair. “Why not now? With you as their mother, that baby could be born underground, and they would be the luckiest child in the world.”
“How could you be so sure?” (Y/N) cried. “I forget things all the time, I’m clumsy, I can barely redeem myself when it comes to fighting. If it weren’t for my weapons, I wouldn’t bring much to the fight against our enemies. What good would I be to protect a child? How could I be entrusted with their entire upbringing?”
“Oh, (Y/N). You’re far more valuable than what you bring to a fight.” His hands cradled her face, the green of his eyes boring into hers. “You are the most caring person I know. If it weren’t for you, I would have killed half of the pack by now. You’re smart. You’re funny. And if anyone should be terrified of becoming a parent, it should be me.”
“Come on,” she scoffed jokingly, her tears finally subsiding. “You’d be an amazing father. Temperamental, but great nonetheless.”
“Well, I’m glad it at least got you laughing,” he grinned. “How about we just take this one day at a time, baby? Make sure we take things slow. Tell people on our own time. Instead of going to the doctor, we buy a pregnancy test at the pharmacy; confirm what I already know.”
“But if you can hear the heartbeat, I am sure all the other wolves will, too,” she worried. “How am I supposed to take things as they come when everyone will know the second they come here?”
“Then, I won’t let anyone back here,” he smiled. “I’ll have them meet me at the warehouse or at Argent’s place. We can say you’re sick with something and won’t be there. Or that you went to visit family out of state –I don’t know. The point is, we can do this, baby. I know we can.”
“Well, I do admire your tenacity,” she chuckled, kissing his lips softly and hugging him again. “One day at a time, right?”
“One day at a time.”
And it worked. For two months, at least.
That very morning, he went out and returned home with five pregnancy tests and a bouquet of flowers. And five minutes later, they all showed an array of dark pink plus signs and the word Pregnant on them. Just like that, it had been confirmed. A new baby Hale would be coming to Beacon Hills in eight months.
They were excited. Of course, they were. But they couldn’t help the terror that overtook them as well. Bringing a new life into their world was a scary thought. The fact that anyone with knowledge of their child could use them against them was terrifying. Still, they wanted that baby more than anything they had wanted before.
The child that grew inside of (Y/N) was the tangible representation of their love. Evidence that everything life had thrown at them had not been able to push them apart, not for a second. They had been through hell and back, always together, and they had come out of every single occasion stronger than before. That baby was the final piece to their equation.
The next day, they went to the first available OB/GYN about an hour from the town. The doctor confirmed what they already knew, adding the new fact that she was around seven weeks along. The process was more than uncomfortable, but the result was well worth it. A tiny blob appeared on the screen, and the sound of a rapid heartbeat filled their ears. It made tears well up in their eyes. That tiny thing would soon turn into their baby. And even though it didn’t even have a distinguishable shape, they had fallen in love with them.
At first, they thought they would pass the first trimester in bliss. That they would only grow more and more excited as the days passed. And they would have. Had it not been for all the symptoms that overtook (Y/N).
She spent most of her day hunched over the toilet seat, emptying whatever was in her stomach. Even when she thought she could keep food down, an hour or two later, she would be in the bathroom letting it out. And if she wasn’t vomiting, she was ransacked with deep waves of nausea. Then, her breasts started to swell, painful jabs running through her every few days. In addition to heartburn and fatigue, it made her question just how worth it a baby could be.
But Derek had been attentive as ever, if not a little overbearing. He had kept his promise of moving where the meetings were held, claiming that the loft was under renovation while (Y/N) was out of town for a bit. It wasn’t a complete lie, though. He used his downtime to clean up around the house and fix things he had put off for far too long.
He fed her saltine crackers and electrolyte drinks, rubbed her back, and held her hair, and he loved her. Every day and every night, he loved her. Even when he had to stay up cleaning the bathroom or he had to carry her back to bed. He loved her through everything.
“You did this to me,” she had groaned one day. “All I want is to eat chips and pickles, but I can’t keep anything down.”
“I know, and I’m sorry,” he responded, drawing circles on her back as he cradled her body in the bathroom. “Hopefully, in a week, it’ll subside. You’re almost out of the first trimester, and the morning sickness should get better.”
“Stop reading pregnancy books,” she whined. “By the time this bun is fully baked, you’ll know more than me.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” Derek chuckled but swallowed his laughter as (Y/N) gifted him an angry scowl. “Okay, okay. I think the ten books I’ve read will do.”
(Y/N) remained quiet and threw her head against his chest. His arms snaked around her body, a comfort she allowed herself to sink into. The warmth from his body felt nice against her shivering skin. But just his presence was enough to comfort her, regardless of the words she spoke.
“I’m sorry I’ve been snappy these past few days,” she sighed. Her eyes closed as he wrapped his arms tighter around her, her head falling against his chest. “I love this baby, and I love you, but I don’t love puking all the time. And peeing all the time. And being tired all the time. I want to fast forward to the next few months.”
“Hey, you can be snappy with me all you want. I can take it,” he said with a smile. “I will be right here every step of the way because I love you. More than you could ever know.”
“Even when I’m all big and bloated?” (Y/N) chuckled, her hands falling onto the growing small bump. “They're already trying to deform my body.”
“Well, at least you’re glowing.”
“No,” she sighed. “That’s just sweat.”
“Then you look beautiful covered in sweat,” he laughed. “Now, let’s get you to bed. Alright?”
(Y/N) could only nod and wrap her arms around his neck as he carried her back to bed, laying right next to her. Even if he couldn’t take this discomfort away, he was trying his best to make things better for her.
Another week passed, and things started to shift. The woman would only occasionally feel the need to throw up her food, but the constant nausea and heartburn had subsided. And once (Y/N) saw her baby's small fingers and feet in their 12-week ultrasound, she knew it had all been worth it.
She also knew they couldn’t keep the secret to themselves any longer.
The pack had become angsty. Wondering when (Y/N) would be coming back from her supposed trip. Two and a half months was far too long to just be with family. With no imminent danger in sight, they had too much time to check up on everyone else.
“I think it’s time we tell them,” (Y/N) told Derek as they watched a movie. She cradled her small bump, something she had unconsciously started to do. “We’re almost at the five-month mark, and I think it’ll be too hard to hide.”
“Do we really?” he groaned. “I can just keep you hidden here until the nine months are up. They don’t have to know a thing.”
“You would really keep the mother of your child sequestered in these walls until I give birth?”
“Maybe even more,” he shrugged. “Maybe I’ll keep you here forever.”
“You’re quite funny, Mr. Hale,” she chuckled. “But they are our friends —our family. They deserve to know there’s one more person to protect.”
“I’ve just really liked this time,” he sighed. His chin rested on her shoulder, his beard tickling her exposed skin. “You know, just you and me. Basking in the time we won’t have once everyone knows and once the baby is here. It’s all I’ve ever wanted, (Y/N). A family of my own, that I can love and protect. A home that’s ours.”
“And we will have that,” she smiled. “We’re just allowing more love in. The best part, at the end of the day, we can just kick them out.”
“When you put it that way,” he laughed before kissing her lips, savoring her. “Alright, fine. We’ll tell them next Saturday.”
“Thank you, Der. It’s gonna be great.”
And it should have.
Had it not been for the million things that went wrong that week. The A/C was busted for a total of four days, a pipe burst in one of the bathrooms, the paint they had ordered for the nursery had been put on back order, and the Camaro had to be taken into the shop for tuning. Thing after thing occurred, piling onto an already stressful time.
Nevertheless, the week came and went. And before either of them knew it, Saturday had rolled in.
To say (Y/N) was nervous was an understatement. For some reason, anxiety was taking over her body. Its claws dug themselves deep into her being. It made her veins run cold and her heart speed. She didn’t know how any of them would react to the baby. Even to the fact that they had kept it from them for so long. And although Derek tried his best to calm her worries, they had already made a home inside her head.
“God, what if they hate the fact that I’m pregnant?” (Y/N) worried as she laid out more food than necessary on the kitchen counter. “What if they find the idea of bringing a child into a messed up world to be the worst thing ever?”
“Who cares, baby? It’s our child,” Derek tried to reassure. “We are the ones that will be raising them. The ones to protect them. Always and forever.
“But they say it takes a village, Der. And that is one thing that I know is true. I mean, at some point, we will need their help.”
“And you really think we won’t have it,” he said, rounding the kitchen island. His hands traveled her body and, in one swift move, had her sitting on the counter. At eye level, he could stare directly into her glossy eyes. “We have been through everything with these people. Even the ones I hated at the beginning have become my closest friends. I’m 100% sure they’ll be thrilled that you’re pregnant.”
He snaked his hand to her chin, pulling her down for a soft kiss. But once their lips made contact, it was too much of a temptation to keep it chaste. Soon enough, their tongues danced together, and their hands pulled each other closer. It left them breathless and excited, wanting —needing more.
“Uh, we can come back if it’s a bad time,” Stiles’ voice rang through the apartment, startling them apart. “But you guys did invite us here. So, it’s kind of bad on you guys.”
“No. Yes! I mean, it’s not a bad time,” (Y/N) chuckled as she jumped off the counter, hiding her stomach with a comically large bowl. “We just got carried away, I guess.”
“The one day they decide to show up on time,” Derek grumbled under his breath. “Come in, why don’t you?”
Before they knew it, the apartment was filled with werewolves, a banshee, other werehumans and supernatural beings, and their very own abominable snowman. The couple remained in the kitchen as everyone situated themselves, whispering under their breath what the best way to go about it would be.
“Not to be pushy,” Peter called out. “But if you guys only called us over for some food, I have better things to do than hang around children all day.”
“You do know we’re all well above the age of eighteen, right?” Isaac retorted. “It’s been quite some time since we have been children.”
“You’re still younger than me, correct?”
“Well, yeah…”
“Then children,” he said. “So, what is it? Am I staying, or am I leaving?”
“Settle down, Peter,” Derek responded, biting back the urge to roll his eyes. “We do have something important to announce to everyone and would very much appreciate it if you just listen.”
“Fine,” he frowned. “But you have ten minutes of my time before I decide to leave.”
“All we need is a couple of seconds, really,” (Y/N) said with a smile on her face so sweet no one dared say anything else. “I’m sure you heard that I was away for a while and that we were undergoing renovations here. Which, as you can tell by the lack of changes, was not true. Derek lied on my behalf and moved any necessary meetings out of our home because I needed this time to myself as I underwent a sort of change in my life.”
“Oh my god, you’re dying,” Stiles worried. “Is it cancer? Is it at least treatable?”
“It’s nothing like that, Stiles,” she reassured with a soft chuckle. “But thank you for worrying. It’s just as life-changing but not necessarily life-threatening. At least, I’m hoping it’s not. But you could never be sure until…”
“(Y/N), you’re rambling,” Derek whispered in her ear. “It’s nothing bad.”
“You’re pregnant!” Lydia exclaimed, a bright smile adorning her face.
“How would you know that?” Malia questioned. “I thought you predicted death, not new life.”
“It’s common sense,” she shrugged, disregarding the comment. “She’s been hiding for months. The place smells like paint, and nothing in this room is painted, so I can only assume it’s a bedroom. And she hasn’t stepped out from behind the island that just so happens to cover her stomach. Two and two always makes four.”
“Except on this occasion, it made three,” (Y/N) chuckled. She walked around the counter and joined Derek’s side, her bump finally on display for everyone to see. “But, yes, Lydia, I am pregnant. Almost five months now.”
A shower of ‘holy crap’s and ‘oh my god’s rained over them as, one by one, the pack got to their feet and hugged the couple in congratulations. They rejoiced together and started planning how to spoil little baby Hale even before they were born. Every single person was as excited and overjoyed as Derek and (Y/N) were, anxious for when the baby was born.
Well, except Peter.
“Yeah, next time you have these kinds of news, little nephew, make sure to make it an email,” he grumbled, looking at his watch. “Can’t believe I canceled evening plans for a pregnancy announcement.”
“We love you too, Peter,” (Y/N) laughed. “Maybe if you leave now, you can still make it to whatever it is that you had planned.”
“I’m already here,” he shrugged as he sat back down on the sofa. “Might as well take advantage of the free food.”
“Ignore him,” Derek told her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “He can’t take this moment away from us. It’s all ours.”

. w/c: 4.1k -- don't forget to like / reblog !! this is not proof read + english is not my first language
You and Spencer had been privately dating for seven months. At first, it was exciting. sneaking around, leaving parties early to go hook up in the bathroom, the birthday sex, apology sex, apology for apologizing with sex sex, it was easy, it was simple—you both met through a party he and his team was invited to by your best friend Ciara, who was friends with the one and only Penelope Garcia. you both got to talking and by the end of the night, you were snuggled up in his bed with his dick in your mouth. and he learned two things that night. 1. he had never had head that brought him so much ecstasy. and two, by the way your outgoing demeanor fit perfectly with being his more shy and non-direct, you were the one for him and he would've been a fool to let you slip through his fingers. those late-night study sessions, stolen kisses in dimly lit hallways, and quiet moments over coffee made you feel like the luckiest person in the world. but the moment that you hit the three month mark, everything went downhill. and usually, at six months, its supposed to be good again, right? wrong.
the past few months had turned into a whirlwind of arguments. It felt like every time you talked, it spiraled into a fight over something that should have been minor. “You don’t understand what I’m going through, Spencer!” you yelled one evening after a tough day at work where he seemed more focused on the case than on how you were feeling. “I do, understand [y/n] I just don't care. Not everything has to be about you.” that night, you both had shouted over each other until the early hours of the morning, hearts racing, voices raised, and emotions running high. the tension felt suffocating. and to ease it you tried to have makeup sex, and he started an argument while literally inside you because he felt like you were faking orgasms and doing it in a obvious way to make him feel bad; you were.
It wasn’t just work stress that fueled the fire; it was the pressure of hiding your hardships relationship from your colleagues, the weight of lying to your friends, and the constant fear of him leaving. and the fear of you leaving for him only made him resent you more. sometimes, it felt like you were living a double life, and you didn’t know how to bridge the gap between your love for Spencer and the isolation that secrecy brought. the make-up moments after the fights were fleeting, filled with hugs and quiet apologies as you tried to mend the shaky ground you were standing on. you’d find yourselves wrapped in each other’s arms, promises lingering in the air that things would change, but deep down, you both knew nothing had really shifted.
but today, everything felt heavier than usual. you had woken up to yet another silent treatment from spencer, both of you too stubborn to reach out to each other first. the anxiety had burrowed deep in your chest, making it hard to breathe. you could sense it—Ciara had noticed. when she came over, she was met with a hurried and agitated spence who only muttered a cold greeting before walking out the door as fast as he opened it for her. her footsteps where light and quick, making her way towards your bedroom where she heard retching and coughing.
you spit into the toilet bowl, groaning in discomfort as everything you had last week came back to haunt you. you looked up at Ciara as she held your hair back, getting her fingers tangled as she took a moment to try her best to untangle them without scalping you. You sat there in front with your head down as you dry gagged, and once you were safe, you reached up and flu shed the toilet.
Ciara rubbed your back for a little before pulling your head to rest on her chest, planting sweet kisses on your forehead. you giggle at the sensation and make tsk sounds. “If you were a man,” you muttered, to which she rolls her eyes at you and lets you go with a smile, helping you stand up, she runs some water so you pat your mouth with it and spit out all the yucky residue left over. she starts asking questions and all you can think back at was this morning. it pained you and you felt your heart sink the more you thought back at it, you realize that him expressing his feelings, yelling, insulting, or even cursing you would've been better. he just left you, in silence. he didn't acknowledge you, and it just made you feel terrible. you looked at Ciara, overcome with emotions which got you a confused look. “What's going on with you--”
“He didn't even look at me, cee.” You muttered as tears filled your eyes uncontrollably. your emotions overwhelmed you as you melted into her arms, you were holding her incredibly tight, she probably wouldn't be able to breathe if you gave her an oxygen tank. She scrambled over her words trying to find away to not pass out from the lack of blood going to her brain because you were quite literally blocking any blood flow possible. She tapped your back and you released your death grip, to which she exhaled heavily.
“Who, What? What are we talking about?”. you stared up at her with a expression of depression, not moving your lips to answer her question. It gave her the answer alone. “That's not... like him.”. Scoffing, you shook your head and wiped your tears, your mood switching from self-pity to pure and undeniable anger. “It's exactly, like him. Actually.”. She tried her best to calm you down but you couldn't, you just walked out of the bathroom and fell face first on the bed, screaming and letting out all of your frustration on his cotton sheets. You started mumbling out of intense anger, and Ciara just stood there, flinching with every curse that flew through your lips as if you were going to reach backwards and bite her.
It took you twenty-and-some minutes to calm down. It took you three to go back to being sad and depressed. Your mood swings were seriously giving her whiplash. You sat up and heaved, sobbed, flew your arms around like a toddler. Ciara sat with you and let you sob on her chest until you start hyperventilating, she blew on your face so you could catch your breathe, shushing you to soothe your tears. Your brain felt fuzzy, your senses has softened.
The only thing that you felt was the immense pounding on your head you couldn't help but feel. “How about we go on a little drive, yeah?” you looked up at her with your red eyes glistening was a tear fell down your cheek, you nodded. you needed fresh air. “Yeah?” She spoke in a soft voice, kissing your head. “Alright go put on some clothes ill be out here,”
Ciara sat behind the wheel, the engine humming softly as she pulled away from spencer's place. The cool breeze wafted through the slightly open window, sending a refreshing shiver through you. You let it wash over you, momentarily grounding you in the present. Still, your mind felt fuzzy, caught in a haze that blurred your thoughts and emotions. It was as if you were floating, untethered from reality, with everything around you blurring into a muddled backdrop.
the streets rushed by, and while the world outside was alive with the chatter of people and the vibrant colors of storefronts, you found yourself lost in your own silence. You stared at the trees lining the road, their branches dancing in the breeze, but even their movement felt distant and out of reach. each passing moment felt like an echo, reverberating through your mind but leaving no traces of clarity.
Ciara’s was talking, filled with energy and it made you feel oh, so worse because you were not listening. “No, dude, I'm being so serious. I told her that she can either get her shit together and stop acting like a little kid or she can pack her shit and leave because I've had enough crazy girlfriends to know it is not for the fucking weak.” you barely registered the words. they floated in one ear and out the other, your focus remaining hazy. you shifted in your seat slightly, trying to push the swirling emotions away, yet they clung to you like a shadow.
“You’d think we were fighting we were fighting over me burning her house down, no. A miss call, a singular miss call and I called her back immediately. And of course, she chose to get her act together because... honestly, would you leave me?” she joked, grinding in her seat to pop her ass a little;
the corners of your mouth twitched, but you didn’t have the energy to respond; the effort felt monumental. As the scenery shifted from commercial buildings to the broader expanses of the mall, you caught yourself wishing you could feel that lightness again. The breeze slipping through the window felt nice, but every now and then, a wave of discomfort coursed through you, reminding you of the things you were trying to forget.
Ciara continued talking, sharing the latest gossip, her voice a steady stream of sound that mingled with the whoosh of passing cars. “and after that, she tried to hookup with me as an “apology”. if she could lick my pussy a couple times and I'm going to immediately forgive her... she's right.”
Still, you remained silent, lost in thought. The feelings swirling within you were too tangled to unravel—the confusion, the sadness, the weight of it all. It felt heavy, and as you drove closer to the mall, the world outside turned brighter, but for you, it remained shrouded in dimness.
As Ciara pulled into the parking lot, the chaotic colors of the mall surrounded you. She parked the car, casting a glance your way. “Alright, no talk of Spencer with the little dick while we're here alright?”
You nodded slowly, but your mind was still a storm of thoughts and emotions that had yet to settle. The sounds of laughter and footsteps filled the air as you stepped out of the car, but even amidst the noise, you felt like you were still floating, caught between what was real and what was just a distraction.
“There's no reason to lie to make me feel better,”, she laughed.
as you and Ciara stepped into the mall, the vibrant atmosphere enveloped you like a cocoon, yet the comfort it should have provided seemed out of reach. the air hummed with energy: laughter echoed against polished floors, the shuffling of bags blended into an excited chorus, and the enticing aromas of popcorn, pretzels, and fried food wafted through the space, each scent calling to a desire for comfort that you just couldn’t find.
you glanced around, taking in the kaleidoscope of people—the families with cheerful children, groups of friends chatting animatedly as they moved, and couples entwined in conversation. Yet, as the cheerful masses moved past, a heavy discontent settled within your chest, a constant nagging feeling that wouldn’t let up. Your thoughts were tangled, fighting the urge to not talk about spencer.
the urges whooped your ass.
“Ugh, I can’t believe how dramatic Spencer has been lately,” you began, shaking your head as you ambled towards the escalator up to victoria's secret each step feeling heavier than the last. You reached for a sleek top on a nearby rack, your fingers brushing the fabric as you stated, “He didn't even tell me what his problem was this time, Ciara. He's like a fucking kid,”
Ciara nodded, her attention shifting between you and the vibrant clothes on display. “He's exactly like Manny. You know if you were a lesbian, I'm pretty sure you would've been with her by now.”
"Har-har." you let out a fake laugh, pulling the top closer to you and inspecting it in the harsh fluorescent lights. “and its not like I don't fuck with him. Of course I do, but its only okay when I do it! and i never do it first.”
She stared at you.
“Okay, I mostly never do it first.”
you stepped into the fitting rooms, pulling aside the curtain with a little more force than necessary. Ciara leaned against the wall outside, concern evident in her eyes. “Well, it sounds like he’s really going through something. I mean the last time he had a girlfriend was years ago, plus she did get shot in front of him. Maybe, just maybe... he needs time to adjust to having you.”
“It's been 6 months, how much time does he need.” you admitted, slipping into a pair of jeans. “I’m trying to support him, but at the same time, it feels like whenever I need support I'm the 'crazy' one.”
you spun in front of the mirror, checking the fit, and briefly appreciated the outfit, but the satisfaction was fleeting. You couldn’t shake the gnawing frustration and worry that lingered in your mind. After trying on a few more items, you settled on a cozy sweater that draped nicely over your shoulders and a pair of jeans that tugged your ass and thighs perfectly.
Stepping out of the fitting room, you caught sight of Ciara’s bright smile—a thumbs-up that fueled a flicker of confidence despite the dark cloud of your thoughts. “You look great! Food?” she chirped, her enthusiasm piercing through your fog. “I look like I got fat, but, yes.” you giggled.
“Yeah, only in the right places.” she replied, leaving a quick smack on your ass. the idea of food felt foreign to you, your appetite making you uneasy. and the more you thought about it, you weren't really prone to gaining weight. in the last eight weeks, you've gained almost seven pounds. even as you walked toward the food court, the excited chatter and laughter felt like a cruel reminder of the happiness you were struggling to hold onto with Spencer.
as you navigated through the chaos of the food court, the aromas wrapped around you, each scent competing for your attention. You scanned the options—pizza, burgers, Asian stir-fry, sizzling hot dogs—but as much as your stomach wanted to respond, it remained cold and distant.
Ciara and you eventually settled on a plate of asian food. You found a table, and despite the enticing food in front of you, the heaviness in your chest pulled you down, dimming your appetite further.
while Ciara was talking about her sex life, your own thoughts lingered on Spencer: his hands, the way his mind worked like a finely tuned machine, how he would
“when I tell you she had me bent in ways I can't say out loud because I would be put on some kind of list--” Ciara’s words finally broke through the fog in your mind, and you looked at her, your voice barely above a whisper, “I feel… weird.”
Ciara’s smile faded, concern etching itself across her face. “What do you mean weird? ”
The discomfort swelled inside you as the weight of your stomach pressed down further. “I don’t know. It’s just everything… ugh. I really don’t feel good.” The admission felt heavy on your tongue, yet fear flooded through you, mingling with confusion and anxiety.
“Hey, [y/n] uh--” Ciara said, her voice laced with concern as she leaned closer, trying to draw you back into the moment. “Breathe, okay? Just uh--”
her voice did no help, the world around you began to tilt, the bright lights and laughing voices tuned out as your vision began to blur. A rising wave of dizziness crashed over you, swallowing every sense until you felt on the verge of vanishing into the void of darkness.
before you could utter another word, the world slipped away in an instant—darkness encased you, quieting the chaos of the food court and pressing down into a silence that felt weighty yet freeing. You couldn’t tell if you were floating or falling, but nothing remained except an overwhelming absence -- and then your body hit the floor.
“[y/n]? [Y/N]! Someone help, please!” Ciara begged and yelled out as she breathed on your face, checking your pulse. you were breathing, that's all that mattered. being in school for nursing, really wasn't doing her any justice at the moment.
three-hundred-thirty-eight minutes. that's how long it took for you to wake up.
you gradually regained consciousness to the muted buzz of light and occasional distant sounds filtering through the haze of your mind. blinking several times, you squinted against the warm, yellow light spilling through the curtains in the hospital room. the glow felt too harsh against your eyelids, and as you turned your head slightly, a wave of dizziness swept over you.
a sharp ache spiked through your temples, and you instinctively raised a hand to your forehead, feeling the softness of the pillows beneath you. your body felt heavy, soreness settling deep in your muscles—each small movement sent prickles of discomfort shooting through your limbs. you groaned softly, the sound a mere whisper in the stillness of the room.
The room itself was a comforting chaos, the machines beeping, the flowy blue curtains. But it was the smell that truly caught your attention: a mix of treacle sweetness from ciara's half-eaten candy bar on the nightstand, which you grabbed over and took a chunk out of. the clean scent of freshly laundered sheets, and just a hint of the medication. it was oddly grounding, and for a moment, it eased the nausea rising in your stomach like a tidal wave.
taking a deep breath, you lay still, attempting to collect your thoughts. fragments of memory flickered through your mind—little moments of laughter and joy interspersed with the anxiety that had been consuming you before everything went dark. You remembered the bustling vibe of the mall, the annoying feeling of your heart racing, and a sudden wave of dizziness that had pulled you down. panic surged through you as you recalled Ciara’s frantic voice, calling for help when you collapsed.
“there's, no way I actually fainted.” you murmured to yourself, the thought sending a shiver down your spine. “ew, that's so corny.” you felt a flush of heat creep up your cheeks, a mix of embarrassment and concern. you turned to ciara, whose face was unchanged the entire time. her face stayed the same -- she looked horrified. concern. something was wrong with you, and you had a really bad feeling about what. it wasn't stress, it wasn't spencer. it was something else.
thirty-eight minutes. thats how long it took for you to find out.
ciara stayed by your side, her face didn't dare to flinch. a nurse stepped quietly into the room, her hesitant movements breaking the fragile quiet that enveloped the space. the atmosphere felt charged, and you could sense the shift immediately, your heart beginning to pound. the light from the window framed ciara, washing over her in a way that felt almost ethereal. as her expression morphed from concern into something more serious, an unsettling tension settled between you, pinning you both in a moment that seemed to stretch on.
when the nurse began to deliver the news her words flowed without sound, each gesture amplifying the weight of what she had to say. you felt your breath hitch as a wave of uncertainty crashed over you, the reality of her news unsettling sinking in like a stone. the room, once familiar and comforting, suddenly felt small and suffocating, the walls closing in as vivid memories backtracked through your mind—laughter, plans, and dreams that now teetered on the brink of change. the warmth of the space became oppressive as your heart raced, fear mingling with disbelief.
in an instant, the safety of your world unraveled, and the gravity of ciara's presence anchored you to an unsettling truth. the air was thick with unvoiced questions, your heart heavy with the weight of responsibility and the unknown. as the silence roared in your ears, every breath turned bittersweet, a reminder of how everything that had once seemed so certain was now tinged with complexity. you stood there, caught between the past and an uncertain future, realizing in that moment that everything had changed.
fifteen minutes. that's how long it took to get discharged.
the car glided smoothly along the dark road, the headlights casting fleeting beams of light onto the pavement, illuminating the otherwise shadowy world outside. ciara sat in the drivers seat seat, her silhouette a quiet presence lost in thought, her silence wrapping the cabin in an almost palpable stillness. each soft breath she took seemed to mirror the steady thrum of the engine, but the weight of her unspoken emotions filled the air, creating a tension that was hard to ignore. the familiar contours of the landscape slipped by in an undulating blur, trees lining the road like silent sentinels.
as the miles rolled on, your mind began to wander, seeking distraction in the rhythmic pattern of passing objects. you started to count the trees, the sturdy trunks becoming a makeshift anchor in the sea of swirling thoughts. one after another, the arboreal figures flickered past, offering a sense of solace as if each counted tree marked a moment of time that moved further away from the hospital. the darkened silhouettes blurred together, yet you found a strange comfort in the repetitive task, allowing your focus to drift into the rhythm of your surroundings.
six hours, thirty-one minutes. and not a single call from spencer.
as the car glided to a stop in the driveway, the familiar surroundings of your home greeted you with an unsettling mix of comfort and anxiety. the sky was turning shades of purple and orange, a vivid sunset framing the moment. ciara turned off the engine and sat in silence for a moment, her eyes fixed on the front door, as if gauging its significance. you both understood that what waited beyond that threshold was life-changing.
you unbuckled your seatbelt and took a deep breath, your mind swirling with thoughts you had been trying to organize all day. today had felt unending, a series of moments stacked upon one another, each one urging you toward this very conclusion. the weight of what you needed to reveal pressed heavily on your chest, and you were acutely aware of the time you had spent wrestling with your emotions.
ciara glanced at you, her expression a blend of concern and encouragement. you could tell she wanted to say something, perhaps offer reassurance, but instead, she simply gave your hand a gentle squeeze. the gesture felt grounding, a reminder that while you were stepping into the unknown, you were not entirely alone.
with a nod, you exited the car, the cool evening air wrapping around you like a cloak. you took a moment on the doorstep, hesitating as you glanced back at ciara, who offered you a reassuring smile before she drove away. the sound of the engine faded, leaving you with the echo of your own heartbeat.
spencer sat there, something heavy on his mind. his shirt was off, and he was stood in sweatpants and the line of his boxers showing. his hair was damp and flew down to his shoulders, his arms clinging onto the back of his neck and he eyed you up and down. you stared up at him with heavy, red eyes. you set down your purse and stared off into the distance.
he stared at you in silence. it was pissing you off. he was acting like a fucking child, and now really wasn't the time. your heart raced as your thoughts spiraled, the weight of everything you had been holding inside bubbling just beneath the surface. You could feel the frustration rising as you realized you were no longer willing to play your eyes met, and in that shared moment of understanding, something unspoken ignited.
“I can’t do this anymore,”
“I'm pregnant.” You blurted simultaneously.
The air shifted, charged with the gravity of your revelation and his confession, and the silence that had ruled the room felt like it was finally ready to crack open, revealing the unvoiced truths waiting just beneath the surface. your eyes widened and jaw feel open, as you grasped what just came out of his mouth. tears welled up at your eyes, and his met with yours with the same expression, and at the same time you both uttered;
“What?”

Baby Shower
Summary: You are 20 weeks pregnant with your boyfriend's baby. He hasn’t told his coworkers at the BAU about you. But when he takes your call he hopes he still can...
Warnings: possible child lost / miscarriage
Pairing: Spencer Reid x FemBAUReader
Word count: 2k
20 weeks... you were 20 weeks pregnant. You looked at yourself in the mirror, stroking your baby bump with your hands. You looked so different and you couldn't believe this was your life now.
A small tear drops from your eyes but it was a happy tear. After everything that you have been through, you couldn't believe that you would ever be happy. You have never felt like this before: happy.
You felt the hands of your boyfriend on your stomach. “What were you thinking about honey?” You smile at him and wipe your tears away. “I don’t know, I’m just so happy. It feels amazing but also so scary.”
“It will alright my love, you deserve happiness” He never fails to make you calm. You hug him and you can feel your belly sticking out touching his stomach. He strokes your hair and then sits on his knees as he kisses your baby bump. “I can’t believe this is our life now, I’m so thankful to have you in my life”
You and Spencer met while you were working at the BAU of the FBI. He was still working there but you left after 4 years to work as a professor at the university. In those 4 years at the BAU, there was always something between the two of you. But neither of you dared to take some action towards each other.
It didn’t take long after you had left the BAU, for you and Spencer to start dating. He asked you out, you can still remember how nervous he was.
His hands were shaking when he asked: “I know we are friends and I don’t want to make that weird. So if you don’t want to I totally get it. But it feels like the last chance for me to ask you this before you leave. So uh will you go on a date with me?”
That was the beginning of many dates and so many loving moments, he was the best boyfriend you could ever wish for. You talked about having kids before, even though your pregnancy was unexpected you and Spencer were so happy.
From the second he found out you were pregnant, he was even more sweet, caring and protective of you then before. He makes you tea, holds your hair when you are dealing with morning sickness, buys you your favorite snacks and calls you every night when he is away on a case.
You know he hasn’t told anyone at the BAU you were pregnant. You know he isn’t someone who is very open about his personal life to his coworkers. But they are more than just coworkers, they felt like family when you were still working there.
You talked to him about it, if something happened at least they would know and could help. Spencer promised you he would tell them.
You still talk to them, mostly to Rossi who reminds you of your father and Penelope. Of course you want them to know about your pregnancy but you know Spencer isn’t ready to tell them yet. So you wait for him to tell them...
______________________________________________________________
Spencer felt guilty leaving his pregnant girlfriend alone at home but he had to go to the office. Spencer was working on some paperwork while thinking how he was going to tell his team you were pregnant. They didn’t even know that you were dating.
In a way it felt like you were living in your own little bubble. And when he would tell other people, you would be snapped out of the bubble. He just wanted you all for himself for the rest of your life, how selfish he thought to himself.
He was snapped out of his deep thoughts when his phone rang. “Hey honey, how are you?” He answered while walking away so no one could hear the conversation “Hi Spence... uhm I’m in the hospital”.
The world spins around him as he hears the words. He stumbles to a chair and sits down because he felt he was going to faint. “What is going on, what happened?” Spencer whispers. His throat feels full of tears already, so much he almost can’t bear to speak.
“I had a lot of cramps this morning and there was blood Spence.. I went to the doctors and they sent me to the hospital. They already did some tests and I think the baby is okay. I am so scared.”
Spencers tries to comprehend what you just told him. He is silent while he tries to think about what happened and what might have caused your cramps.
“Are you having a miscarriage?” He finally has built up the courage to ask the question he hoped he would never have had to ask.
You answer honestly: "I don't know Spence. I have no idea what is going on" “I’m coming to you, where are you?” Spencer stands up and is walking fast to his desk to grab his stuff.
While you tell Spencer what hospital you are in, you can hear him talking to Hotch. “Hotch, I have to go. Something has happened to... I will tell you later. I really have to go” “It’s alright Spencer, you can go. Let me know if we can do anything for you” Hotch responds.
Spencer is practically running out of the office. “Where are you heading off so fast pretty boy?” Morgan laughs but his laugh disappears when he sees Spencer's face. So full of worry and tears pricking in his eyes.
“I will tell you later!” Spencers shouts across the office. “What the hell is going on with him?” Morgan says to Emily. “I don’t know but I don’t think he is doing alright”.
In the next week Spencer took care of you every second of every day. He made sure you had enough rest, ate and drank enough and took your meds.
You had an UTI so you had to take medicine and drink enough water. That way the infection would go away.
Spencer was very worried but also happy you and the baby were alright. He was happy that any of the worst case scenarios he made up in his mind while he was on his way to the hospital, didn't come true. But he was still scared that anything bad would happen to you or the baby.
He got a text from every single one of his coworkers asking if he was okay. He didn’t know how to tell them.
______________________________________________________________
It was Spencer’s first day back at the BAU after taking care of you for two weeks. As he set his first step into the office, JJ and Penelope came to him hugging him. “How are you Spencer? We are so glad you are back.”
“I have to tell you guys something. Please come to the conference room” Spencer says. He was nervous, he knew that they would be happy for him but also mad because he didn’t tell them.
Everyone gathered in the conference room looking at Spencer. “Okay I have something to tell you. It’s a lot and I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before” He takes a deep breath.
“After Y/N left the BAU we started dating”. Penelope puts her hands before her mouth and says “Oh my god, you guys that is amazing”. Spencer continues “There is more. We found out that we are having a baby, she is 22 weeks pregnant.
Everyone's mouths fall open and suddenly it is complety silent for a few moments. Penelope and Morgan get up to give Spencer a hug. Followed by Emily, JJ and Hotch. Spencer smiles “Yes we are very happy” “But what happened to you the last two weeks?” Emily asks.
Spencer sighs: “She was in the hospital for a UTI. She was discharged after a day and she is home now. Her and the baby are fine. I just had to take care of her and be there for her.”
“Aw Spencer, we are so happy for you. And happy to hear you, Y/N and the baby are fine” JJ says.
“Do you know the gender of the baby?” Penelope asks. “Yeah we know but we would like to keep that between us for now” Penelope looks disappointed but then her eyes light up. “Did you guys have a proper baby shower yet?” she asks.
Spencer thinks about what to say "No, we didn't." I don’t know if she would like that though”. “Ah please Spencer, talk to her. It would be nice for us to see her again and we can celebrate”
“Okay I will talk to her” Spencer says, not knowing if you would really like a baby shower. But he knew you deserved to celebrate and he knew you would love to see your old coworkers again.
______________________________________________________________
Spencer sent a text to Penelope that they were on their way to the office. Spencer told you that he told the team that you were pregnant and they would love to see you. Spencer told you they were very busy so you couldn’t stay long. He hoped you didn’t see through his lie.
You loved the idea of seeing them again and you dressed up nicely for the occasion. You wore a long black dress in which you could clearly see your baby bump. Spencer told you that you looked amazing in that dress. He tells you every single day.
You and Spencer walk into the office holding hands, but no one is there and the lights are off. “This is weird” Spencer says. “Let’s walk to the conference room, maybe they are working on the case”.
You follow Spencer, having no clue of what is about to happen. The lights in the conference room are on but you can’t see who is inside, as the blinds are closed. Spencer opens the door and guides you in.
“SURPRISE!!!” Everyone yells. Your hands are on your heart as it beats fast. “Oh my god, you guys” Tears fill your eyes and then you look at Spencer. He is smiling at you, You walk up to everyone giving each of them a hug and thanking them for the baby shower.
The whole room is filled with decoration and balloons. The table is full of cake, sweets, drinks and snacks. You sit down and Spencer rubs your belly. “Thank you so much, this is amazing”
“You are very welcome my lady, we are so happy for you” Morgan says. “Would you like anything to drink?” Penelope says while she points at all the options.
“Yes, I have a lot of pregnancy cravings but now I would really like some orange juice if you have that” you say. “Yes mama we do”
She gives you a glass and as you take a big sip, you make a surprised noise. “What is going on? "Is it not good?” Penelope looks worried. “You got extra pulp, I was craving this so badly” you laugh.
Penelope looks at Spencer and says “Well don’t give me the credit, Spencer told us everything you liked so we had a table full of your cravings”. You smile as you take Spencer's hand “Thank you my love, for everything” He gives you a kiss on your hand.
The rest of the day consists of talking about your baby, receiving tips from JJ, a lot of eating and laughing. Spencer and you hold hands the whole time. You have never felt so loved.
Before you and Spencer left, they made you promise you would stop by soon. And that you would text them if you needed anything.
You felt like you already had a big family around you, just as you were about to start a family with Spencer. You couldn’t wait for the baby.
“Are you okay Honey? Did you like the surprise?” Spencer looks at you. “Yes Spence, I did. It was so nice. Thank you so much for everything.” “You are very welcome, you deserve everything. "I love you!” “I love you too my love”

Ficlet for @sterekweekly word prompt #sterekweeklytender @warmandfluffybingocards square baking/cooking together @sterekbingo square a/b/o
burnt cookies
Rating: General Audiences Relationship: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski Characters: Stiles Stilinski, Eli Hale Tags: Established Relationship, Omega Stiles Stilinski, Alpha Derek Hale, Mpreg, Fluff, Established Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski. Mates Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski, Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski are Eli Hale's Parents, Domestic Fluff, Baking, Married Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski, Kid Fic
Stiles looked down at the sheet of cookies, or, well—burnt cookies. If it was the last thing he did, he was going to get the cookies right. Nice and tender, chewy and moist. It didn't help that Elijah insisted on helping with everything and Stiles loved him so much that, of course, he let him help with everything.
Then he’d get distracted once the cookies were in the oven baking, taking care of Elijah and playing games…taking naps. All of which was tiring Stiles out the closer he got to his due date with baby Ava.
He was on the verge of going to the store and buying the perfect cookies before Derek got home. But Elijah would rat him out, just like all five-year-olds did because they couldn't keep anything to themselves.
“So what do you think, kiddo?”
Elijah looked quizzically at the cookie dough and back up at Stiles. “Can you not burn them this time Daddy?”
Stiles should feel mortified that Elijah was calling him out on burning all the batches of cookies before this one, but he was also brutally honest because he was five years old.
“Let’s hope so, buddy. Maybe this will be the batch that comes out perfect. What do you say we try this one more time before we go to the store and buy up all the cookies they have?”
Elijah nodded, his hair flopping, and sometimes Stiles was thankful his son was a werewolf or his head might just fall off with how hard he shook it.
They both looked down at the cookies before Stiles helped Elijah off of the counter and they stepped back from the stove. Stiles opened it and then slid the cookie sheet inside the oven onto the top shelf. He closed the door and sighed, pushing buttons on the stove to set the timer one last time.
If this batch burned, he just wasn't meant to bake cookies for Derek today, or maybe ever.
They both peered into the oven window, the light from the coils shining down on the cookies as they bubbled and cooked.
“Well…” Stiles started, then looked at Elijah expectantly. “...I guess we have to wait now.”
Elijah giggled and looked at the cookies with his big, hazel eyes. “Maybe we should stay to make sure they don't burn, Daddy…”
Stiles looked back into the oven, watching the dough bubble. “I don't think that’s going to make them cook any faster…”
“But if we watch them, they won't burn and then we can eat cookies before Dad gets home.” Elijah’s eyes were big and hopeful as he stared into the oven again with Stiles.
“I think that’ll just make them take longer. How about we go sit on the couch and read your book for school?” Stiles smiled and wrapped his arms around Elijah, giving him a kiss atop his head.
He knew better than to pick him up so close to Ava’s arrival, especially because it would kill his back and he’d pay for it later.
Elijah looked thoughtful as he looked up at Stiles. “Okay!” He bounded off toward the living room and Stiles rubbed his belly as Ava gave her input on the whole ordeal.
The cookies ended up burning after they’d gotten wrapped up in first one book and then another, which meant that Stiles ended up Instacarting cookies to eat for dessert that night.
Either way, Elijah never stopped laughing at the burnt cookies and Stiles trying to dispose of them all before Derek got home.
It was a great day.

Shipping is so silly because there’s one ship that you’ve been hardcore shipping since you were 9 and it’s always in the back (or the front) of your mind and it physically hurts your heart that it wasn’t officially canon and it’s so important and you can’t watch the show without feeling your heart tighten in your chest because it will never be real and it will only ever be in your head and it’s just something that consumes your every waking thought.
And then you open Tumblr and see Mpreg fanart of them and it’s like ???? So this is the thing that eats at me every night ???

Picture Perfect Family
Warnings: death of a pregnant woman (and the fetus - although is referred to as a baby during the fic), emergency c-section, mentions of torture, blood, held hostage, reader holds baby and woman’s hand, that bit is quite sad by the way, hospitals, death, crying
Word count: 4449
A/N: This was the sad one I kept going on about. Oh, also Amy is 14, Jake is 12, Ethan is 8, and Maisie is 6.
“Alright! Everyone, into the car!” You exclaim, clapping loudly. You smiled as your youngest two children rushed past you, cheering and giggling loudly. You two eldest however, huffed as they stood up, making their way to the car.
“Why do we have to leave so early? We could just get the bus,” You second eldest, Jake, asked as he walked past.
“I like it! It means we can play longer and see all our friends!” The twelve year old rolled his eyes at his younger brother, Ethan.
“Don’t roll your eyes at your brother,” You sighed, “Come on, we can talk about the bus later, okay?” You breathed out a sigh of relief when Jake nodded. “Alright, into the car,”
Your youngest, Maisie, runs back to you, hugging your legs, “Don’t worry daddy, I like the car too!”
“Alright, sweet pea, back into the car you go,” You say, leaning down and sweeping her into your arms, “We don’t want you to be late now, do we?” Maisie shook her head. “Amy, come on, we’re going to be late!”
Your eldest, Amy, walked out of the house, bag slung over her shoulder as she typed on her phone. “What have I told you about phones in the morning?”
“Sorry dad,” Amy grins, pecking your cheek before getting into the car.
“It’s alright sweetheart,” You call after her before sighing. “Anna?”
“Yes babe?” Your wife, Anna, waddles into the room, one hand on her stomach, the other on her lower back, “Everyone ready?”
“Yep,” You answer, proud grin, you peck her cheek, "I've got everything under control."
A scream and a sob came from the car. "Except that, one moment," You say as you jog out the door, "kids? Everything okay?"
"Jake took my toy!"
"It's mine!"
"Hey, don't make me keep it for Chloe," You threaten lightly, both you and the children knowing you would never.
"I thought her name was Charlotte,"
"That's because it is," Anna chimed, appearing behind you, you jumped, placing a hand on your chest.
"Jesus," You muttered, "No, I'm pretty sure she's a Chloe."
"What would you know?" Anna challenged, "She's not growing inside you," You simply give her a look, she rolls her eyes. "If you don't leave now, you'll be late,"
You looked at the time with wide eyes, "Shi- Snickerdoodles!" Ethan and Maise both giggle loudly, “Hey, don’t laugh at your dad or he’ll drink all the chocolate milk before you get back,” At their gasps you add an evil laugh.
“Get in the car you goof,” Anna laughs, pecking your lips quickly. “Or you’ll be late.”
“Yes Ma’am!” You say, giving her a smile before hopping into the car (hitting your head as you did) - she still managed to make you act like a drunk-in-love teenage boy. Even after all these years.
When you dropped the kids off to school, you made it to the BAU in record time, you sighed, placing your bag on the floor and letting yourself fall into your chair.
“We’ve got a case,” Garcia said, walking quickly to the round table room, “It’s a bad one,”
Everyone shot up quickly, following Garcia into the round table room, sitting in their respective seats. You got up relatively slowly, ignoring Morgan and Emily snorting at you, JJ gave you a sympathetic look, “Long morning?”
“I’m on school runs,” You answered, trying your best not to yawn, the pair of you joined the rest of the team, sitting at the round table.
“This sick s.o.b is abducting women and torturing them for a day - it was originally three days but he’s devolving,” Garcia said, clicking the remote so the respected photos come up, “He then calls their significant other and gives them an address so they can try to save her. The significant others get there before they pass, however the wounds are always too extensive and so nothing can be done and they pass before the EMTs get there,”
Your stomach clenches when you imagine yourself in their position. You shove the thought out of your head and focus back on the case. “Where’s the case?”
“Right here,”
It had been kind of a bust so far, it had been a day and you had pretty much nothing. None of the leads you had found led to anything that could be used, at the end of the day, you all sighed, getting ready to head home for a few hours of sleep before starting afresh. “A body just turned up,”
You didn’t get home until three, Anna and the kids fast asleep. You sighed, making your way into bed, if you were lucky, you’d get two and a half hours sleep before you’d have to wake up to prepare everything before the kids woke up at six.
You repeated the same routine as yesterday but with less energy, as the kids all sat eating breakfast, Anna wrapped her arms around you, “What time did you get in?” She asked softly.
“Three,” You mumbled, turning around and resting your head on her shoulder, taking in her scent. “I do love you,” You mutter, she gives a small laugh.
“You’re delirious,”
“Deliriously in love with you,”
“That doesn’t even make any sense.”
“It does to me,”
“Stop procrastinating and drive the kids to school,” Anna laughed, giving you a gentle shove towards the door.
“I love you!” You exclaim as you shoo the children out of the house and into the care.
Soon enough, you're back at work. “You look like hell,” Morgan chuckled when you walked into the bullpen.
“You do the school run for four kids with a pregnant wife on two and a half hours sleep,” You defended, gratefully taking the cup of coffee off of Reid and immediately taking a sip despite it burning your tongue.
Three leads later, you still had next to nothing. You groaned, placing your head on the table, checking your phone for any messages from Anna. Nothing. You tried your best to ignore the feeling forming in your stomach and put the phone down and don’t pick it up again until lunch time. You tried phoning twice at lunch, then tried two more times half an hour after lunch on two fake toilet breaks (you think the team was starting to think you had eaten something dodgy) and still nothing.
“Anna, hey,” You sigh into the phone yet again for the sixth time in the last hour and a half. “I just want to check in and make sure you’re okay, please let me know, I love you… This is (Y/N) by the way, alright, love you, bye,” You hung up the phone, tapping it against your palm before heading over to Hotch.
“Everything okay?” He asked when you approached him.
“It’s probably nothing, but Anna’s not been answering her phone,” You answer.
“Alright,” Hotch says with a nod, “How about you go pick your kids up from school and check on them and you can check up on Anna as well?”
You nodded, thankful he suggested that, “Thank you,” You said, he gave a small smile as he nodded.
“Of course,” He answered. You walked back to your desk, grabbing your bag and making a beeline to your car.
You make pickup on time and your kids all smile widely at you when they see you waiting. They’re all in the car, buckled in and you start driving. The phone rings when you’re about five minutes into the forty minute drive, and you answer it, placing it against your ear after quickly glancing at the name.
“Anna? Thank god, are you okay?” Silence. “Anna?”
“That’s her name, huh? She did tell me, but I thought she was lying.” Your blood runs cold.
“Who is this?”
“What?” Your voice is hoarse.
“Not important.” The man’s voice sounds through the phone.
"You're the unsub we've been looking for, aren't you?" You ask quietly, not wanting your children to hear.
"Yes."
"Let me take her place." You say, "Surely that's more satisfying, an FBI agent, hm?"
"I find this so much more gratifying,"
"Please let me take her place."
“Its too late, your wife is currently bleeding out.”
“She’s in the warehouse on third street.” He said. “Better hurry.”
When the line goes dead, you immediately dial Hotch. He picks up after the second ring. “Hotch, I need you to go to this address, Amy’s sending it through to you now, as well as the phone number he used in case Garcia can track it. He took her, I’ve got the kids in the car, I can’t drop them off anywhere. I’m parking round the block, I’m going to need one of you to get them while I go to Anna,”
“(Y/N), no,” Hotch ordered, “You need to stay where you are.”
“Hotch, I’m not not going to her,” You snap, you don’t have time for this. “I don’t have time for this. Go to the address.” And with that, you hang up and step on the accelerator. Within minutes, you’ve arrived close to the address, you’d go the rest of the way (only a few meters on foot, you didn’t want the children near the unsub, near danger, just in case). You kill the engine.
“I need you all to listen to me,” You turned, facing your children, a serious look on your face. “I need you all to stay in the car, alright? The team is on their way, I want you all to hide in the back, do not move until one of the team is here - the ones you know, alright? Derek, Hotch, JJ, Penelope, Spencer, Rossi, Emily, okay? Do you understand me?”
Amy sniffed, nodding, “We understand,”
“Okay, take the keys, lock yourselves in,” You said, swallowing as you hand Amy the key, “Take care of each other, stay quiet, and I love you, alright?” When they nod, you give them one more reassuring smile before getting out of the car, shutting the door behind you, not leaving until you hear the reassuring click of the locks.
Grabbing your gun, you began to jog towards the warehouse. You made sure to watch your step as you weaved in and out of the shelves. Eventually, you hit an opening where the stairs stopped. About ten feet of space was left in the room. About two feet ahead of you lay a body. A figure, motionless on the floor.
Your blood ran cold, no no no, please don't be her. Anyone but her, god, please. You come to a standstill when you reach the body, falling to your knees, pulling her frame close to yours. Her body limp. Your eyes widened seeing various wounds seeping with blood. You needed to put pressure on the wound - wounds. You shrugged your jacket off, balling it up and pressed it against the wounds tightly. Your heart dropped when she didn’t seem to notice.
"Baby?" You asked softly, "Baby please," When her eyes fluttered open, you forced yourself to smile - wiping away your tears that fell onto her pale cheeks. “Hey, there’s those eyes,” You whispered with a smile.
“(Y/N)?” Anna mumbled, looking up at you. Her face was red, neck had a deep bruise along it. You felt anger surge in the bottom of your stomach as you made out the unsub’s handprint. You flicked your eyes back up to Anna’s.
“Yeah baby, it’s me,”
“It hurts,” She whimpered quietly.
“I know, I know it does baby,” You whisper, planting a soft kiss on her head. “I know, but medics are on their way, you just need to hold on, okay?” Anna let out a hum as she nodded.
Anna cried out in pain as she shifted, “I know, I know, I’ve got you,” You mumbled, her arms reached for your hand squeezing it desperately. “I’ve got you,”
“You’ve ‘lways got me,” Anna hummed.
“Yeah, baby, I’ve always got you,” You mutter, “I’ve always got you, I’ll never let you go, you hear me? Never.”
Your head shot up to look at Morgan and Hotch as they run in, “How far out are they?”
“Six minutes,” Hotch answered grimly. She wouldn’t make it that long. You took a breath, looking back down at Anna.
“Anna? Darling, I need you to hold on for six more minutes,” You whispered.
“I can’t,” She replied softly, eyes already beginning to flutter shut again. “‘M so tired,”
“I know,” You replied, “But you can sleep when you get to the hospital after they’ve fixed you up, you just need to hang on until then, okay?”
“Hmm,” Anna gave a small hum.
“Anna? Anna, I need you to open your eyes for me, baby?” You said softly, gently shaking her shoulder, “Come on Anna, please. Six more minutes, just six more minutes baby, okay?”
“Dad?” Your head snapped up, Amy, your eldest daughter. Not yet even fifteen, clutching her eight year old brother’s hand in her left and her six year old sister’s in the right, Jake, barely twelve years old, also holding Maisie’s hand.
“Dad, what happened?” Jake spoke next. Your mouth was dry. What were you supposed to say?
“Daddy, is mummy okay?” Maisie’s voice snapped you out of your thoughts.
“Get them out of here,” You mumbled, head snapping to Hotch and Morgan, “Get them out of here, now!” The pair had already begun to guide them all out of the room, your children protesting loudly. You dropped your head to your chest, a tear falling before you sniffed and blinked, focusing back on your wife. “Anna? Can you hear me? I need you to last a few minutes. Just a few more-” You reach a hand up, gently stroking her face, “Please baby, I can’t do this without you.”
Anna’s eyes flickered open and she smiled softly at you, reaching a hand up, she stroked the skin underneath your eye, “You’ve got such pretty eyes,” She muttered, voice pained, “Love you,” Your eyes widened when the hand on your cheek went limp, falling to her chest.
“Sir? Sir, I need you to move,” Your head snapped up. Paramedics. You nodded, scrambling up.
“Er, female, thirty five, multiple wounds, um- she-”
“It’s okay, your colleagues filled us in.” One of the paramedics said, before turning to Anna.
“Save her. Please.”
“We’ll do everything we can.”
“Please.” You say once more. “I can’t do this without her.”
A hand gently rests on your shoulder, “Let’s give them some space to work.” Hotch. You nod, letting him guide you out of the room, into the one next door. He knew you wouldn’t be able to be level headed with your children for a moment. “Just let it all out, whatever you need to do, do it.” He said, “I’ll be outside.” He knew not to leave you alone right now, but wanted to give you the space you needed.
When he’s gone you collapse onto the floor, now that you were alone, your strength had immediately left you. You just sit there, for a minute. You could still feel the warmth of her hand, her blood soaked your hands and your clothes. How were you supposed to talk to your kids like this? You wipe the blood off your hands, onto your shirt.
When you emerge from the room, Hotch looks at you softly, “I’ll drive you to the hospital,”
You don’t argue, simply nodding and whispering a thank you as you begin to follow him out of the building. “Can I borrow your jacket?” You ask hesitantly, “I don’t want the kids to see-” You motion to the blood on your shirt. Hotch nods and immediately shrugs it off, handing it to you with a small smile. You quickly throw it on and zip it up, you needed to see your kids. They’re all sat in the back of a separate ambulance, all huddled together with a blanket wrapped around them all. Guilt pangs at your chest. You should be there, comforting them.
JJ leaves their side, leaving them in the protection of Morgan and heads over to you and Hotch. You give a weak smile as she approaches you. “JJ, can- can you and Garcia watch them?” You say, running a hand over your face. “I’ll talk to them, but then I need to- I need to go to the hospital,”
“Hey,” JJ says softly, placing a hand on your arm, “Of course we’ll watch them.” She turns her gaze to Hotch, “Keep us updated.” Hotch gives her a nod.
You take a deep breath before heading over to your children, the two younger ones are crying and you can tell Amy and Jake are trying to keep it together for their younger siblings. Morgan leaves you, knowing that this is a private family moment, but he places a comforting hand on your shoulder as he passes you. “How is she?”
“We don’t know,” You answer honestly, “I’m heading to the hospital, you’re going to go with Aunty Penny and Aunty JJ, they’re going to look after you. But I’ll make sure you all know what’s going on, okay?”
“We’re not going with them-”
“We need to go with you-”
“I want mummy-”
“Where’s mummy-”
You take a sharp breath, “Hey, I know you want her, and you want to go,” You say softly, “But I don’t know how long it’s going to be before we know anything and you can’t all stay there,”
“It’s alright, dad,” Amy says, voice filled with anxiety, “We’ll go with Aunty Penny and Aunty JJ,”
“Thank you,” You reply, placing a kiss on each of their heads. “Uncle Aaron’s driving me to the hospital, I’ll call soon, okay?” When they nod, you turn to JJ who comes up to your children with a reassuring smile, ushering them all into your car. Handing her the keys, you give her a small thank you before you head over to Hotch.
The receptionist motions for you to wait in the waiting room, you’re not happy about it, but there’s not exactly anything you can do, so you take a seat whilst Hotch thanks her for her time and joins you. You’re a mess, leg constantly bouncing, biting at your nails, picking at your skin, anything you could do to try and manage your anxiety, you were doing. Hotch didn’t say anything, he simply let you cope however you needed to.
When the doctor arrives, half an hour later, you feel your stomach swirl. This was too soon, surely they’d take longer to do the surgery? He motions for you both to follow him, he leads you into a separate room, asking you to take a seat. You refuse with the shake of your head. No. You needed to stand, you couldn’t sit still right now. You watch as the doctor takes a deep breath.
“I’m sorry for your loss.” You can’t give yourself time to grieve. Not now.
You look up at the doctor, “And the baby?” The look he gives you feels suffocating, throat tightening. You felt like you couldn’t breathe. “Can I see her? Please.” He looks hesitant, but nods nonetheless.
“Before you do, we tried to save the baby, we performed an emergency c-section…” The doctor trails off, unsure how to continue.
“Am I able to see her too?”
“Of course.” Hotch gives you an encouraging nod, telling you he’d be right outside if you needed anything, you gave a small nod of thanks and then walked into the room.
Anna’s pale, laid neatly on the table. They’ve covered her, but the doctor pulls down the cloth so you can see her face and neck - stopping at her chest, and resting on her chest is your baby girl, laid softly. She looks peaceful, almost like she’s sleeping. The doctor turns to leave.
“Can I-” You pause for a moment, “Am I able to hold her?”
The doctor gives you a sympathetic smile and nods, explaining you’d need to wear an apron, mask, and gloves and you fumble these on as quickly as you can. You gather your baby, placing her on your chest as you sit down on a close by chair, supporting her head as you do. You move the cloth ever so slightly to reveal Anna’s hand, clutching it in yours, pulling a stool next to you - knowing that you would not be ready to leave her for a while.
“I am so sorry, baby,” Are the first words out of your mouth. “I tried to get there as soon as possible, I swear, I tried so fucking hard.” You press on, ignoring how it wavers. You needed to say this. She needs to know.
“The kids were in the car, I- I got to you as soon as I could, I tried to stop the bleeding, I tried everything- And I’m so so sorry you didn’t get to see the outside world, little one,” You say, rubbing your thumb in soothing circles over your baby’s back. “I’m so sorry, you would have been a force to be reckoned with and I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough to save you.”
You turned your gaze to the baby on your chest. “I know I wanted to name her Chloe, but you’re right, Charlotte is so much better.” You half expect Anna to laugh, pointing at you with a smirk exclaiming how she knew it, that she was right. “I think Charlotte is a beautiful name and suits her wonderfully. And I think she would have accomplished the most amazing things if she was given the chance.”
You sat in silence for a moment. “So much for saving others, huh?” You laugh bitterly, “I help save all these people but I couldn’t even save you.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough.” You don’t know how long it’s been, but it must have been a while.
“I have no idea what to tell the kids,” You mumble, “How do I tell them this? How can I even begin to explain what happened? What you went through? When I got the call I begged him to let you go, begging him to let me take your place. And they saw, they snuck past JJ and they saw you. I don’t know how much they saw, but they saw you and I’m so sorry, I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I am, I tried so hard but fell short - yet again.”
More time passes before the door opens. “(Y/N)?” You turn to the voice.
“Would have thought you’d have gone home by now,” You comment quietly. Hotch shakes his head.
“Garcia phoned, they’re asking for you.”
“How- What do I even tell them? How do I even tell them?”
“I don’t know.”
You stand up, hesitant. You didn’t want to go. But you knew your other children needed you, Charlotte had her mother protecting her, she would be okay. You place her back on her mother’s chest. She’s clean, they both are. And so, you press a delicate kiss on each of their foreheads.
“Goodbye for now, I love you both so so much, and I am so so sorry.”
As you’re walking to the door, you’re trying desperately to stem the tears but you can’t find it in you to care too much. You rip the gloves, mask, and apron off and dump them in the nearest PPE bin before turning to Hotch. Hotch also insists on driving you back to your house, it only made sense considering you didn’t have your car with you.
You unlock the door, letting Hotch go in first. You’re procrastinating, he knows it and you know it. But he doesn’t say anything. You walk into the living room and JJ and Garcia leave with Hotch, making their way into the kitchen, probably to make some tea for the adults and some chocolate milk for the children.
You kneel down in front of them, taking a deep breath. “Mummy was really really hurt,” You began, ignoring how your voice breaks. Amy sniffs, already knowing where this was going. “And the doctors and nurses did everything they could, but she didn’t make it.”
“She’s not coming back?” Ethan asks softly.
You shake your head, “No, sweetheart, she’s not,”
“And Charlotte?” Amy asks, she always was one to take her mother’s side when it came to picking her siblings’ names. You turned your head towards her, she’s crying, they all are. You gently shake your head. Their crying turns louder until they’re sobbing.
“I know, I know,” You mumbled, gathering them all into your arms, “I know, I’ve got you,” You don’t let yourself cry yet. Not yet. You could grieve when you knew your children were okay. You had to make sure they were okay. One by one, the younger children start to drift to sleep, Maisie first, then Ethan, and then Jake. You turn to Amy, still sobbing gently into your shoulder, “I know,” You mumble, “I know,”
She sobs for a moment later before sitting up, facing you, she doesn’t bother to wipe the tears from her cheeks. “Dad?”
“Yeah, sweetheart?”
“It’s not your fault.” Her voice is strong, “This isn’t your fault.” You blink back the tears, taking in a deep breath.
“Thank you,” Your voice isn’t as strong and you pull her into her arms.
“We’ll manage,” She whispers, “It’ll be hard, but we’ll manage.”
Soon enough, Amy’s asleep too. You shift carefully, moving them one by one and soon, they’re all laid comfortably on the couch and you stand, making your way slowly to the kitchen. You needed something to drink, you were hungry but you don’t think you can manage anything to eat just yet. So you settle for orange juice.
You furrowed your eyebrows, seeing Hotch sat at the counter, reading something on his phone. “You should go home.” You mumble, walking past him and to the fridge.
“JJ and Garcia made tea but it’s probably cold by now,” He said softly, “They also made chocolate milk for the kids, I put it in the fridge when they left - they said sorry for leaving but Will was swamped with the kids and Garcia needed to feed Sergio.”
You give an awkward smile, “Thanks, for everything,” You say, turning to the fridge. Your breath leaves you for a moment when you see a note on the fridge from Anna:
‘Don’t forget lunch again, you doofus! Xx’
You knew you’d cry eventually, that it would catch up with you and when it did, it wouldn’t be pretty. But you really didn’t think you’d be on your kitchen floor, sobbing, with Hotch trying to comfort you. Definitely not how you were expecting it to happen. “I miss them, I already miss them so fucking much,” You mumble, “How am I supposed to cope? It hurts, Hotch, it physically fucking hurts,”
“I know,” Hotch mumbled, “I’m here, shh, I’m here,”

A Not-Fic - Shared Pregnancies and Losses
Imagine this.
Derek grew up really close with his uncle Peter so they're more brothers than uncle and nephew.
When Derek's in his mid-twenties, Peter's in his thirties and they're both happily in love with two great alphas, not yet mated, but have been in a relationship for a while now.
They also find out that they're pregnant, at the same time. Both unplanned, but not unwelcome.
The family is happy. Talia is...befuddled about the situation but also happy for her brother and son. Stiles is nervous and ecstatic about the baby while also weirded out and amused about the whole situation with Peter.
Because he likes Peter, he likes that Derek has someone he trusts so much and that his mate can have that same person be there for him while they go through this unexpected turn of events. But also Stiles thinks Peter is weird as fuck, and sketchier than Derek realizes. usual Stiles-Peter dynamic really.
(What's funny about this is since Peter and Derek are so close and hang out quite frequently, their heats have synced? and that's why they're pregnant at the same time. And that's why everyone is kinda what-the-fuck-ed by the situation)
Things take an angsty turn on the 9-week mark
Peter and his partner go in for their check-up (him and Derek scheduled theirs together, duh) but Stiles and Derek are late.
After being seen by the doctor, Peter asks the nurse about his nephew and she informs them that Derek and Stiles cancelled for the day.
He later finds out that Derek miscarried.
The Hale family is put in a weird position after.
Derek withdraws from his uncle a little. With some encouragement from Stiles, he does sit down with Peter first to tell his uncle that it's not that he hates him now. He just needs a bit of space from anything pregnancy related.
Peter is a little hurt, but he understands.
They settle into a new normal, where Peter tries to enjoy his pregnancy while missing his nephew, Derek tries to be as supportive as he can while trying not to be resentful of his uncle, and the Hales try to balance celebrating Peter's baby while helping Derek grieve his loss.
On a follow-up check up with his OB, Derek's doctor informs him and Stiles that everything is okay with Derek. And if they should want to try again and Derek feels ready, they could.
Stiles thanks the doctor and drives them home. Derek has a very dumb idea.
Three months later, Derek gets his heat again. Stiles helps him through it under the impression that Derek's using birth control considering what they just went through. Derek neither confirms or denies this assumption.
When Peter is 31 weeks along, Derek finds out he's pregnant again. He doesn't tell Stiles.
A week later, Derek loses it again. He almost doesn't tell Stiles, but Stiles finds out and brings him to the hospital.
The morning after that, after Stiles made Derek sleep on their bed alone out of anger and a sense of betrayal, the two have a long talk.
Stiles tells Derek he couldn't do something like that again, trying to get pregnant without Stiles' consent. He can't do that again, not if he still wants to be in a relationship with Stiles.
Derek apologises, and they agree that Derek will use protection during his next heat which should come again in 3 months.
A couple of months pass by, Peter's baby comes along perfectly healthy. Derek somewhat recovers, enough so that he's there when his favourite uncle gives birth.
Peter is grateful. Everyone is in love with Peter Jr. Maybe Derek a little more than most.
Despite his age, Peter is a first time parent. With his parents no longer around and his mate estranged from their folks, he feels a little on his own. So when Derek drops by to ask if he can hang out and see the baby, Peter is, once again, grateful.
Helping his uncle adjust to being a parent helps Derek rekindle the bond he had with Peter. It also helps ease the longing he feels for his own baby, which he should have welcomed at the same time as Peter did.
Another side effect Derek doesn't anticipate though is having his heat thrown off schedule.
All that baby exposure makes his hormones go a little crazy, and Derek doesn't realise it when he has a mini-heat a little earlier than scheduled.
Stiles also doesn't realise that that one night of crazy hot sex he has with his boyfriend was him helping said boyfriend through a mini-but-just-as-effective heat.
When Peter's baby turns 4 months old, Derek finds out he's 10 weeks along when he goes in to see his OB after worrying over missing his heat.
Derek is scared this time, and he calls Stiles right away.
He relays what the doctor told him, about hormones, and babies, and mini-heats, and he didn't mean to do it this time, he really didn't.
Stiles believes him, thankfully. When Stiles gets home, they talk about what this could mean.
Derek expresses how he's scared, but he also can't help but be a little hopeful. Stiles wants to feel the same way, but he can only worry about what another miscarriage would do to his mate.
Just a couple of days shy of hitting the 12 week mark, Stiles finds out the answer.
Derek doesn't cry as loudly and ask the doctors question after question like the first time.
He doesn't try to hide it from Stiles like the second time.
The third time Derek miscarries, Stiles' dad, the sheriff, drives them to the hospital. When Derek is discharged, he's also the one who drives them home. Stiles cries all the way, Derek holds him, crying just as earnestly but much more quietly.
The next heat Derek has, they're both much more careful about protection. Derek doesn't get pregnant then.
The same goes for the next one.
The one after that is delayed. Derek gets the flu. Nothing too serious, but it leaves Derek's body so weak, his heat doesn't come on until after two weeks past schedule.
He takes his birth control shot, but just as he feels the heat come on, strongly and suddenly. He hopes the shot works, a nagging feeling tells him it won't.
Four weeks later, Stiles comes home to find Derek having a panic attack in their bathroom, a pregnancy test thrown across the floor. When he looks at it, there are two more on the sink.
After Stiles calms Derek down, Derek asks him if they could just ignore it. For the meantime. He tells Stiles he just needs time to figure out how to feel about it.
Of course Stiles says yes.
They don't talk about it, but of course it's all they think about.
Stiles braces himself for another miscarriage, for having to take care of Derek after that, while also researching all the ways to avoid a miscarriage, what food to eat, what food not to eat, any vitamins he should get Derek, he even dabbles into holistic shit.
Derek is caught between just waiting for the cramping and the bleeding again, and secretly telling himself that if he just ignores it, if he doesn't make a big deal out of it, if he doesn't hope, maybe he'll get to keep it.
They don't say anything to anyone. Not to either of their parents, families, friends. Derek doesn't even tell Peter, especially doesn't tell Peter.
To make sure Peter doesn't suspect anything, he keeps up his babysitting duties, he goes to visit Peter Jr. and hang out with his uncle even if it only makes him more anxious about his current state, so much so he feels like throwing up every second he spends with Peter and his baby cousin.
Unfortunately, it's during a Peter Jr. visit when what Stiles and Derek fear most happen.
Derek was leaving, Stiles waiting for him at Peter's driveway, when Peter calls him from the doorway. There's blood on the backside of his pants, Peter tells him, brows furrowed in concern.
Derek has a moment of feeling his gut sinking. Stiles rushes to him, turning him around to check.
And there it is, a spot of blood on Derek's pants.
Derek sort of doesn't move. He freezes, lets Stiles rush him to the car.
Peter tags along, yelling at his mate who just got home to watch over the baby, it's an emergency.
The three of them take the familiar trip to the hospital.
They get to the ER. Derek is seen to. Then they wait, the three of them.
Derek on the bed, checked out, staring into nowhere, face shut down.
Stiles on the chair beside him, holding his hand.
Peter stands by the corner of the curtain separating them from everyone, worriedly watching his nephew.
A nurse comes in informing them that Derek's OB isn't in at the moment so another doctor will be coming in to give them news in a few moments.
The unfamiliar OB comes in.
He's relaxed, is the first thing Peter takes note of. That must mean good news. Peter's not wrong.
The doctor smiles at them, and tells them that everything's fine. There's nothing to worry about. It's just a bit of spotting which is normal especially in the first trimester. So is a bit of light cramping.
He advises Derek to rest the following day and notify him if the bleeding gets worse. But other than that, everything's fine.
Peter and Stiles breathe a sigh of relief, Stiles only a bit more felt than Peter.
Before he lets the doctor go though, Stiles brings up their history of miscarriages. Which shocks Peter, because the family was only aware of the first one.
The doctor tells Stiles that if it will put them more at ease, they could have Derek stay the night.
Stiles asks Derek what he thinks, and that's the only time they notice that Derek wasn't paying attention the whole time.
"Der? Derek, hey."
"Huh?"
"The doctor says we can stay the night if you want to. Just to make sure."
"Why?"
"To make sure everything's fine, babe." Stiles repeats.
"What's the point?" Derek looks at him, blank-faced. "It's gone."
Stiles and Peter look at each other.
The doctor repeats that the baby's fine. And Derek looks at the doctor like he's an alien.
"Oh." is all Derek says.
Stiles asks for a moment with his boyfriend after that. He asks Derek again if he wants to stay the night in the hospital. Stiles expresses that he thinks it's a good idea.
Derek wonders what's the point. He's just going to lose it again, they all know it, and he says as much.
Stiles looks at him, stricken. "Don't say that. You don't know that."
Derek looks at him tiredly in return. "What's that thing you say? Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern."
Stiles doesn't know how to respond.
Thankfully, that's when Peter steps back in from listening behind the curtain. "If you don't try," he tells Derek, trying to get through to his nephew's blank stare, "you'll regret it."
Derek looks at his uncle for a long while. He doesn't look any more convinced, but he agrees to get checked in.
The three of them spend a long night in the hospital, Peter refusing to leave Derek.
Derek's the only one of them who sleeps.
He still doesn't understand what's the point. He's sure now that he'll lose the baby. He's even morbidly hoping he just loses it that night so they won't have to drive back to the hospital.
When morning comes and the nurse gives them the all clear, all smiles and cheer. The haze in Derek's mind clears somewhat, making way for agitation.
He can see the relief in Stiles' eyes and the reassuring smile on Peter's face, and Derek finds himself getting more upset.
Their doctor comes in. When Stiles starts setting an appointment for the following week, Derek has it.
"Stop it," he says, quietly at first.
Stiles doesn't hear him and tries to work out a schedule for Wednesday.
"Stop it," Derek tries again, a bit louder this time. Only Peter hears him.
Stiles has a meeting on Wednesday and starts checking Saturday.
Derek throws the stupid stuffed bear the nurse left for him on his bedside table. "I said STOP IT," he yells.
Stiles stops talking, looking at Derek in shock.
Peter quietly leads the doctor out of the room.
Stiles ignores the teddy bear, joining Derek on the bed. Derek doesn't realise he's crying until Stiles wipes his cheek with the end of his sleeve.
Stiles holds his hand and gently commands him to, "Talk to me."
Derek shakes his head, really getting into the thick of the tears now.
"What's the point," he asks again, sobbing, "I'm going to lose it. I'm just gonna lose it again, Stiles. What's the point?"
All the planning, the relief, the wondering, and the hoping.
"I can't do it. I can't do this, Stiles. I can't!"
Stiles wants to pull Derek in and just agree. But he resists the urge, and settles for holding Derek's hand. "What do you want to do?"
Derek bites his lips and looks down in shame.
"Derek." Stiles persists. "What do you want to do?"
Do you want to terminate? Stiles doesn't ask, but Derek hears all the same.
"You tell me what you want to do, Der," Stiles pushes on, leaning close and speaking softly, "And that's what we'll do."
When all Derek does in reply is cry harder, Stiles asks the more difficult question.
"Do you want this baby?"
And Derek cries impossibly harder still after that.
Because that was the thing, wasn't it? All this time, since having that panic attack after getting those positive test results, Derek's been living in denial.
He hasn't even entertained the idea that there is a baby to be wanted.
All he has is a possibility, a chance that didn't even have the best of odds. That's what he's been telling himself. Because a chance, that's easy to lose. A chance, he can just let go.
A baby though?
A baby that he could want? A baby that he could have? A baby that he might, probably will lose? Again?
"Fuck!" Derek chokes out in between sobs.
Stiles pulls him in then, holding him tight.
Later that day, when they've all gone home, Peter to his, Stiles and Derek to theirs, Derek admits to one more thing.
They're lying in their bed face to face, seeking comfort from each other. Stiles is holding his hand, and Derek holds Stiles' right back even tighter because he's desperately trying not to put his hand on his belly.
When Derek thinks he can speak without his voice breaking, he confesses.
"I'm scared," his voice still breaks, "Stiles…"
And Stiles, who knows he can't promise that there's nothing to be scared of, racks his brain for what best to say, desperate to comfort his omega. He settles for this.
"We have to try. Whatever happens, I'll be right here. But we have to try, okay?"
Derek agrees.
Moving forward from there, Derek finally successfully gets past the first and second trimester, but he can't enjoy his pregnancy. He's just so scared that he's still going to lose the baby.
The doctor reassures him that everything's fine every time he has a check up, but it's not enough. And it's just this constant battle in his head where he's either consumed by his fears, or filled with regret because he's depriving his baby of the chance to be celebrated and welcomed into the world happily, like his Uncle Peter did for Peter Jr.
Of course Derek has more or less a picture perfect pregnancy. Everything goes well during the birth, too, despite things not going to plan and Derek ending up having a home birth instead of the hospital-based one he carefully crafted out on his birthing plan.
