The Mindy Project: 10 Cameos From The Office Cast | ScreenRant

The Mindy Project is a rom-com TV series that aired from 2012 to 2017 on Fox and Hulu. It follows a New York City OB-GYN's search for love, which of course, is accompanied by tons of conflict and men (usually at the same time).

Being that The Mindy Project was created by Mindy Kaling, who was both a writer and actress on The Office, the show is stocked with cameos from The Office's cast. While you won't find Jim or Dwight making an appearance, you will find Ryan, Andy, and even Toby.

We're here to show you the best Office alum appearances on The Mindy Project, so get ready to see Scranton and New York collide!

10 Ed Helms

Helms is best known as The Office’s always-singing, anger-managing Andy Bernard. He transfers to the Scranton branch during Season 3 and remains a prominent part of the show throughout the rest of the series.

On The Mindy Project, Helms guest stars as a character named Dennis. He shows up in Season 1 as one of the decently datable guys Mindy knows. Though their flirtation is brief, she and this dude with an economics degree get along well for a hot second.

9 Ellie Kemper

Erin Hannon becomes Dunder Mifflin Scranton’s new receptionist in Season 5. She is sweet and naive and ends up developing romances with Gabe, Andy, and Pete. Additionally, she is one of Kelly Kapoor's best buds, which is why it's not surprising to see her showing up on The Mindy Project.

Kemper plays a character named Heather, who also dates Mindy's jerk boyfriend Josh. Though neither of the couples last, Heather tries to move into Mindy's apartment building. While Mindy says she's cool with it, she regrets speaking too quickly and works hard to put an end to the move.

8 Paul Liberstein

Toby Flenderson is the boring H.R. representative in The Office that everyone seems to dislike (especially Michael). Liberstein's character in The Mindy Project isn't that far off.

In Season 4, Mindy decides to tackle the world of dating apps and finds herself going out with Libertein's character. The problem is that he talks a lot about things no one cares about and is way too mundane for Mindy's vibrant personality. Mindy solves this by sneaking out during their date. You go, girl!

7 B.J. Novak

Kaling's Office-co-star, who is best known for playing the arrogant and flighty Ryan, had another shot at love on The Mindy Project. B.J. Novak's character, Jamie, is a Latin teacher who starts going out with Mindy. They go on a double date with his best friend, Lucy, and Mindy's co-worker, Danny.

While Mindy and Jamie have great banter, he realizes that he is actually in love with his best friend, Lucy, and ends up ending things with Mindy on Valentine's day. Fun, right?

6 Rob Huebel

In The Office, Huebel plays Holly Flax's boyfriend. Yup, he's the one who gave Holly the Woody doll that Michael absolutely destroyed. Though his relationship with Holly doesn't last, he gets another small-screen role in The Mindy Project.

Huebel appears in two episodes, first in "Indian BBW" (S2E16) and later in "The Devil Wears Lands' End" (S3E4). He plays a character named Andrew who is the co-CEO of the website Sploderz alongside Matt Oberg. Let's just say their company is not classy.

5 Beth Grant

Yes, we said this was going to be full of cameos, but Beth’s larger role in The Mindy Project is too good to pass up.

Beth plays Dwight’s babysitter Melvin in The Office. She’s the woman that goes with him to Michael and Jan’s dinner party in Season 4 and is later hired as a junior salesman in Season 9.

In The Mindy Project, she takes on a larger role as Beverly, a nurse at Shulman and Associates who gets fired and re-hired as a receptionist. She remains a series regular who happily inserts her off-beat comments into situations whenever she feels like it.

4 Zoe Jarman

Jarman also has a larger role in The Mindy Project than in The Office, but it's still worth pointing out. She shows up in The Office episode “Christening” (S7E7), which follows the christening of Jim and Pam’s daughter. A group of teenagers from the church is headed on a missions trip to Mexico (which Andy joins impulsively) and one of the girls who heads the trip is played by Jarman.

On The Mindy Project, Jarman plays Betsy, who mans the front desk at Mindy’s practice. She is naive and sweet, but despite her likability, Camp left the show as a series regular after only two seasons.

3 Randall Park

 Remember Asian Jim? Yeah, the guy in the cold open from "Andy's Ancestry" (S9E3). He is Jim and Pam's actor friend who tries to convince Dwight that Jim has been Asian his entire life, and Dwight has simply not noticed.

In The Mindy Project, Park plays an ophthalmologist named Colin who is also Mindy's friend. He moves the plot along in a total of three episodes.

2 Anna Camp

Camp plays Pam's sister, Penny, in The Office. She is seen during Pam's wedding and mistakes Kevin for Oscar's boyfriend Gil.

Camp plays a slightly larger role in The Mindy Project as one of Mindy's friends, Gwen. They both moved to the city together as single women, however, Camp quickly got married and gave Mindy a goddaughter named Riley. Though her friendship with Mindy is said to be important, she is not seen after Season 1.

1 Kelen Coleman

Coleman plays a minor character on The Office named Isabel. She is first seen at Pam and Jim's wedding, and when she reveals to Pam that she is seeing Dwight, Pam's shock causes her to tear her veil. She later visits the couple's newborn child, makes out with Dwight during a happy hour, and "whacks" Angela for using her pregnancy as a means to keep her and Dwight apart.

On The Mindy Project, Coleman played a recurring character named Alex during Season 1. She is part of the Mindy-Gwen-Alex friend group and loves showering her gal pals with advice.

We have good news, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani fans:

Contrary to recent reports such as THIS ONE, this beloved couple has not broken up!

We also have incredible news…

… the beloved couple is apparently engaged and expecting their first child together!

For real! Maybe!

It was just a few weeks ago that In Touch Weekly alleged Stefani was “heartbroken” after Shelton broke up with her out of nowhere.

But while this tabloid alleges that Blake was sick of Gwen’s “neediness, drama and jealousy,” another tabloid now claims just the opposite.

Not only isn’t Shelton sick of these things, writes the latest issue of Life & Style, he has vowed to embrace them and love every aspect of Stefani until death does them part.

We’re talking marriage, people!

Or, to be more specific, anonymous sources that supposedly spoke to this magazine are talking marriage.

As you can see above, this publication alleges that these singers took part in a “quickie beach ceremony in Mexico,” even adding that they wed in such a manner “after they [got] happy news.”

In case the implication wasn’t clear enough, it added as a headline:

WEDDING & A BABY!

Flip open this issue, however, and the cover story reads that Gwen and Blake are not actually husband and wife. Not yet, at least.

However…

“Pals believe the pair are finally getting married because she’s pregnant more than two years after trying for a baby,” says an insider who is absolutely real.

This non-made-up individual adds:

“[Gwen’s] dream is to marry Blake and have his child. And announcing her pregnancy to friends and family on the big day would make the wedding all the more special.”

That’s a new twist on a shotgun wedding, huh?

Look! We got married because I’m pregnant! Isn’t that special?!?

Talk of Stefani being pregnant has run rampant for several months, almost since these two artists first started exchanging bodily fluids.

It’s sort of unclear why.

The former No Doubt leader already has three kids. She’s also 48 years old.

Moreover, there was chatter back when Shelton split from Miranda Lambert that the twosome went their separate ways partly because Blake did not want children.

So… yeah.

Call us crazy, but we’re calling BS on this rumor.

Blake and Gwen make for a gorgeous and adorable couple. We like them a lot.

We’re just really not sure why people out there are so quick to attach weddings and babies to their relationship.

Can’t the stars just get along, have fun together, enjoy each other’s bodies and each other’s company and not get married or create any small humans together?

Let them be in love in peace, tabloids of America.
