Uncle's reaction had been as explosive as he feared, though the punishment meted out to him was not exactly as expected.

For his appalling conduct, he was indeed to be confined to the gentian house, but only for the duration of three years. During that time, he was to devote himself to copying the contents of the Lan library, in order to preserve some of the rarer tomes it contained. He was also to continue his studies, despite being unable to join with classes in the omega compound. 

Then, once Lan Wangji was recovered, and his babe weaned, he would be expected to resume his regular duties as omega of the main bloodline - namely, tutoring the younger children, and practising the musical arts.

Swordcraft, he was told, was out of the question.

"At least until the child reaches a proper age," his uncle commanded, voice hard. "If you are to be solely responsible for them, you will not be reckless with yourself."

Lan Wangji bowed his head low in acceptance, accepting the rebuke with grace. "Yes, Uncle."

The punishment laid out before him was almost laughably light considering how badly he'd flouted the Lan rules, but he realised it also allowed for the least disruption to the rest of the clan.

Lan Wangji, as an omega, was not integral to the Lans' survival, but he was an apt student, and many arrangements had already been made for him to take up a teaching post within the next year. His pregnancy would interfere with that, and therefore interfere with the lives of many others. 

As he sat before his uncle and brother, Lan Wangji had to fight to keep his head high. He was taught that to carry a child was to feel joy. Lan Wangji felt nothing but shame.

It was then Lan Qiren announced he had once last stipulation regarding Lan Wangji's lax punishment.

"We will find a proper guard to accompany you out of doors," Lan Qiren groused. "A beta, with low cultivation. It's better if their qi doesn't affect the child."

He looked like he wished to say more, but something held his tongue.

Across the table, Lan Xichen set down the cup of tea in his hand, a thoughtful curve to his brow. "Someone from within the clan, Uncle?"

To Lan Wangji's surprise, Lan Qiren shook his head.

"No," he replied, a hand reaching up to stroke along his beard. "Guarding Wangji would interfere with the disciple's duties." He paused for a moment, thinking. "Sizheng would have served well, despite his core, but he's only just married..."

Lan Qiren trailed off, then sighed.

"We'll need to search outside for a qualified guardian."

He looked to Lan Xichen, and said the words that would drastically alter the course of Lan Wangji's life for a second time: "Have fliers drawn up. I want them posted around Caiyi."

He then sat back and straightened his robes.

"There's sure to be someone amongst the common people capable of accompanying Wangji."

When tea was over, Lan Wangji sat in his empty room, and found himself unable to feel a single thing.

Maybe even having a wedding ceremony. And LQR tries to dissuade them but they keep doing it… and they keep doing it… and it doesn’t stop… and now they’re like 12 and 15 and STILL doing it and maybe it’s even evolved into real romance. And maybe when they’re both teenagers they take it even further 👀

Same thing as above but Make It Toxic. Maybe they’re grieving their mom and they start using each other as an anchor. LXC takes comfort in babying his baby brother and cuddling him and fretting over him and protecting him from everything bad. And LWJ lets LXC do this because it makes him feel so safe and secure…. And now they have a thing where LWJ is always demanding LXC’s attention and LXC is always giving it and if LWJ doesn’t give HIM attention he starts getting super fussy over him. And… what if this… also goes on way too long and gets even more intense… and it 👀👀👀👀 turns into real incest.

Jadecest as adults:

I would love to see adult jadecest where they became such because of the above circumstances and they still have these tendencies in the present

I love the idea of them having kids and figuring out that the kids are ALSO incestuous, the more abrupt the discovery the better!! Maybe the kids are small and they are mimicking the exact same tendencies as above, maybe they’re teens and the jades walk in on them in the act!!

I love the idea of lwj struggling with having disabled kids in a society where disability is treated badly but he is fierce with advocating for them. Try to handle it with sensitivity if you can. I personally prefer the canon interpretation. I mention this only because I'm sick of writing 'Wangxian only' next to any fic where another pairing seems possible.

Where relevant, I've marked whether a fic has Bottomxian/Bottomji. Because of tumblr's rules this is mostly only implied, however. There are more Bottomji fics than Bottomxian, but many also leave their dynamics unmentioned completely.
