“After you,” Youngjae said breezily, a royal blue, satin covered arm coming up to brush a stray branch aside, clearing the path ahead for you.

“No,” You shook your head with a faux frown, refusing. “After you, Your Royal Highness.” Insistently, you rooted your leather high boots firmly onto the ground, not moving an inch.

“C'mon, Y/N!” He sighed exasperatedly, dramatically. Youngjae always harboured a burning hatred for formalities. “I know you liked our old spot at the top of the hill, but I swear you’ll love this place even better. I just want to show you a part of this kingdom that you’ve never seen before!” A glint of excitement flashed across your eyes at the mention of exploring another corner of his family’s vast lands. Sensing that you were about to cave to his request, the Prince hastily interlocked your fingers with his, guiding you through the dense forest just beyond the edge of the Royal Gardens. “Besides, as your host, I ought to bring you someplace that didn’t make you sneeze your brains out every other minute. The canola fields have triggered your allergies ever since you were a child.” Youngjae added.

“But I like the canola!”

Youngjae scrunched up his nose in distaste. “Well, I certainly don’t like explaining to your maids why their precious Lady turned into a swollen, slimy tomato by the end of our evening together and–”

“Okay, fine!” You squeezed his hand to signal your defeat. He couldn’t see your resigned, dejected look, the one that you wore every time he won an argument, but if he did, you’d bet on every single horse in your stables that he would clutch his stomach and double over in boisterous laughter. “You’ve said enough. Point taken.”

Satisfied, the Prince continued to lead you further into the forest. His pleasing, melodic whistles (charming renditions of folk songs, you supposed) were in harmony with the tunes of the lively forest. Your ears could easily pick up on the airy whispers of rustling leaves, the sweet sopranos of chirping birds and the trickling stream singing in an allegro tempo. It was shaping up to be quite an orchestra, with the one and only Youngjae taking centre stage as both lead singer and conductor.  

Throughout the far-reaching kingdom ruled by the Choi dynasty, Youngjae was known as the precious youngest son of the reigning monarchs. The boy made quite a name of himself by gracing those around him with his sunshine smile and bright personality. There were even poems and songs written about the Prince’s ability to shine his brilliant light onto his people’s lives. Many claimed that the Prince had a heart of pure gold, as he would often roam beyond the gates of the Palace, interacting with the locals by personally buying his art supplies from the markets, painting murals and paintings for the young and old, and lending a hand whenever a carriage got stuck in mud or when an old grandpa strained himself while moving large crates of vegetables. The people often muttered under their breaths about how it was such a shame that Youngjae had little chance of claiming the throne, for he was the last in line after his elder siblings. But the Youngjae you knew and grew up with had never set his sights on being King. Ever since spending that first summer in the Palace with his eleven-year-old self, you were certain that he was meant for even greater things. Youngjae loathed politics and diplomacies. He hated pretending like someone he wasn’t, just for the sake of strengthening relations and maintaining peace. All Youngjae wanted to do was to live a carefree life and practice his art.  

“We’re nearly there, My Lady,” Youngjae chirped in his best impression of a maid. “Just have to cross this tiny little stream.” The young royal came to a halt before the gushing stream, his free arm circling around your waist securely.

Your mouth went dry in an instant. The body of water a few steps ahead of you seemed like anything but a tiny little stream; it was fervently licking at the banks, swallowing and chomping up any leaf or branch or insect that stood in its way. You were deafened by the relentless roars of rapidly flowing water, causing you to shrink into his side in search of safety. Petrified, you glanced upwards at the Prince, shaking your head slowly to get your point across. You did not like this, not at all.

“I know you’re scared, Y/N, but I won’t let anything happen to you. Trust me. I’ll hold onto you so tightly that we’ll be stuck together like two peas in a pod.”

“But I… I don’t…”

“You’ll never get hurt, not on my watch.” Youngjae declared resolutely. He knew; he could tell from your shallower breaths and widening pupils that you were afraid of falling in, just like you did five summers ago. You and your brother loved spending time within the Palace’s walls, but you had taken a special liking towards the koi pond right at the heart of the Royal Gardens. Each summer when you returned to the Palace from your home in the Northern Lands, the trees and the flowers and the design of the Gardens would change beyond recognition. The pond was the only thing that remained untouched, year after year.

You used to love sitting by the edges and feeding the koi fishes or testing out your paper boats with Youngjae and your brother. You could stay there for ages, from sunrise until sundown. That is, until you accidentally tripped into the pond and nearly drowned. After that, you avoided it like the plague.

“If you’re really not comfortable with this, we can turn around, no big deal.” Youngjae reminded you in the gentlest voice he could muster. The stream was barely a meter wide, with a large sturdy rock smack bang in its centre, but he knew; he could feel the hesitation radiating off your skin. He was aware of how the minutes seemed to drag into hours as you gasped for air that afternoon, your feet straining and struggling to reach the bottom. Youngjae knew that the memory still haunted you.

Your clammy hands clawed onto his back, your fingernails leaving deep imprints through his luxurious tunic. Sensing his eagerness to show you this new hideout of his, you tried your best to swallow your fears and gave him a slight nod.

“You sure? We really don’t have to.”

“I swear, Choi Youngjae,” You whispered impatiently. “If you don’t move right now, I’m going to change my mind.”

He chuckled at that, all melodious and warm. His laughter felt like a blast of sunshine on a cool spring day, which did wonders to ease your nerves. He wasted no time in holding you close to his chest, similar to how you would position yourselves when dancing side by side in the Palace’s ballroom. “It’s a lot like dancing, really.” Youngjae said, inching towards the very edge of the stream. “You just have to coordinate your steps with mine. We’ve done this before a million times. Now, right foot, oh yes, your right. Okay, ready? Take a big step and –”

Your feet moved in perfect unison. The two of you arrived on the rock in the blink of an eye. “We made it.” You breathed out in disbelief.

Youngjae simply cradled you snugly in his arms for several moments. You relished in the immeasurable amount of security you felt being with him, while he grinned smugly at the sight of you finally overcoming your fear. “I told you so,” He pressed his lips against your ear and whispered.

The rest of the journey only took another five minutes. Before you knew it, you arrived at a small yet breathtaking clearing in the forest. The ground was decorated with a plethora of wildflowers emerging amongst tall grass, specks of white and gold and pink everlastings flooding your entire vision. In the middle of the clearing sat a large rock and a fallen trunk, the ideal place to sit down, catch your breath and take in the wondrous scenery.

Which was exactly what you and Youngjae did for the rest of the late afternoon. You drank from your flask of elderflower cider while inhaling the fragrant, floral perfumes surrounding you; Youngjae chewed on the end of his sketching pencil while also crafting a rough sketch of you in his notebook, resting on the trunk. You laughed and you talked, all while sharing a loaf of buttered rosemary bread you swiped from the kitchens this morning.

Much to your pleasant surprise, you didn’t let out a single sneeze. Not even when Youngjae passed you his sketch for your inspection and placed a white flower behind your ear. This was exactly why he brought you here, he claimed.

He was right. As it turned out, you loved this place the most.

when you moved in, many of your new neighbors came by your apartment to say hello

you tried your best to remember their names and faces, but you just couldn’t

there were too many people and each meeting was exactly the same

“Welcome to the building! Are you a student? Oh, how interesting! Well, do stop by for tea someday soon!”

you do remember one person, however 

about a week after you moved in, you were waiting on the elevator to take you back to your room when suddenly, a cotton ball attacked you

and then it barked 

ok, so it wasn’t a cotton ball, but a small, fluffy white dog

and it was adorable. like really. you almost started crying in the lobby 

“Coco, NO!” you hear, and then two hands reach down to pick the tiny dog up 

you’re like nononono it’s fINE i love dogs so much

but then you look the owner in the eye and woah boy 

you thought the dog was cute? the owner is giving you a religious epiphany 

he apparently doesn’t notice your jaw fall a little bit at how angelic he looks, especially with such a cute dog next to his face, and just says, “I’m trying to train her not to run wild as soon as I let her off the leash... it’s not going that well.” 

you pull yourself together and laugh and say, “She’s so cute, though! You can’t get that mad at her.” 

he’s like ugh,,,,,, you’re right... I would die for her

and he’s trying to act annoyed and scowl but his stern expression melts when his dog licks the side of his face 

the elevator doors slide open with a ping! and you both step inside, pressing your respective buttons 

the elevator is the slowest thing on the planet and for once, you’re grateful, because now you get more time with cute thing 1 and cute thing 2

“Um, I’ve never seen you around before,” he says, “Are you a new tenant or just visiting or???”

you tell him you’re new, that you just moved in last week

“Well, maybe I’ll see you around, then? I’m Youngjae, by the way. This is Coco.” 

“I’m Y/N! And yes- just let me know if you ever need a dogsitter because I just met her and I love her so much, it kind of hurts.” 

he laughs and he’s like ah, maybe you can walk her with me someday?

and as the doors slide open and you walk out, you tell him that sounds delightful, that you’re in 509 and are typically there after 6pm, so he should feel free to drop by 

with his dog, of course

and as the doors slide shut, you hear him yell, “See you soon!” as he waves goodbye with coco’s tiny fluffy paw

and you don’t really expect to see them again soon, but a few days later, you run into them in the hall

and the little dog bounces up to you, pawing at your leg

you die. she’s sooooo cute is she real? youngjae are you sure she’s real? 

he’s like yes I’m sure cause she peed in the kitchen last night and it was disgusting 

but not even a minute later, he’s cooing over her as she flops on the ground for belly rubs 

you’re like youngjae, my man, make up your mind

another day, you were in your building’s laundry room when youngjae came in, toting a laundry basket 

as soon as he saw you, his face lit up

but you were like... no coco? 

he’s like unfortunately, she barks at washing machines

and while you’re there, both of your machines stop working 

you’re shaking yours and cursing under your breath

and he’s like hold up, new tenant, i’ve got this 

and he raises his palm and smacks the machine right in the middle of it’s lid with a loud cluak! sound

sure enough, it starts working

he does the same to his and again, it kicks back up

and he does all of this like it’s the most normal stuff in the world

as if you’re not astounded he knew the exact location to hit the washing machines 

and you’re like... hey youngjae,,,,, can I get your number in case the machines ever break on me and I have two broken hands and can’t hit them

he’s like,,,, sure, but if you have two broken hands, just ask me to do your laundry for you, ok???

and that’s so endearing awh omygoodness this boy is so cute 

he sets his name in your phone as “coco’s human” 

and instead of hanging around being bored while waiting for your laundry to finish, youngjae is like... wait here one sec... and then he dashes out of the little room 

comes back a few minutes later slightly out of breath with a bluetooth speaker in hand

“Let’s do karaoke!” 

“Youngjae, we’re going to get kicked out.” 

“I don’t see anyone else in here!” 

and that’s how you end up jumping around the laundry room singing into your phone, which you were holding like a microphone 

feeling a little silly because it turns out youngjae sings like a goddamn angel 

“This isn't fair, you’re so much better than me at this,” you joke

“Practice makes perfect, Y/N.” 

“Listen here you little-” 

he just runs away, laughing his butt off

and when your laundry is finally done, you’re actually kind of sad about it

but you pile all your clothes into your basket and youngjae walks you all the way back to your apartment

and a few days later, you get a text

“You seemed to really like Coco, and you offered to go on walks with us, so... do you want to right now?” 

yes, you do

“Great! You’re in 509, right? We’ll come get you.” 

he leads you out to this park near your building and the sun is only just starting to set and the scenery is so beautiful that it breaks your heart a little bit

youngjae just points out his favorite trail up ahead and coco is trotting at the edge of her leash, eager to go and explore 

and at first conversation is kind of spaced out and awkward, neither of you really knowing what to say to each other, but then it gets so... easy

you’re showing him the scar from that one nasty fall you took as a kid, explaining the rather stupid story behind it 

he tells you his own weird childhood stories about that one time he talked back to a teacher and like, instantly regretted it

and when he laughs, he laughs with his whole body. like a lot of work goes into those laughs that you can’t help but join in on

and sometimes if you tell a particularly good joke, he’ll just lose his mind and run around in circles for a bit 

it’s kind of adorable you can’t lie to yourself 

and once he accidentally dropped coco’s leash and she wasn’t even that far ahead of you guys but he FreAKEd oUT

“COCO!” he screams, hauling ass to chase her down

kicking up dust behind him like road runner in looney tunes

diving like a professional goalkeeper in a soccer match to catch her

and then he picks her up like he did when you first met him and he’s like, “I nearly had a heart attack don’t ever do that again-” 

you’re just laughing and playfully teasing him for the way he sprinted after his little fluff ball 

“Yah, Y/N. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t run after her.” 

you’re like... you have a point.... she’s precious and needs to be protected at all costs 

he’s like yes, I’m glad you understand 

and you tell him that you were a little unsure about moving at first because what if you ended up not liking the apartment or the neighbors???

and now, as you stand on a small bridge over a slow stream, looking over to your side to see youngjae looking ethereal in the setting sun, you’re thinking that moving was the best decision you’ve ever made 

you don’t tell him that, of course, instead saying, “...Anyway, thanks for being so nice to me!” 

and you’re walking so all you can’t see his face but you notice his ears go bright red 

“Um, actually...” he starts

“...Is something wrong? Did I say something weird?” 

“No! Nothing like that. I was just thinking that um, since me and Coco both think you’re cool, do you maybe want to...” and then you can definitely see a blush tinting his face 

“Youngjae, I’d love to go on a date with you,” you say, smiling 

and you can tell he’s kinda dying cause he is bright red and he’s smiling like a maniac and trying failing to hide it behind his hand

the rest of the walk is filled with shy smiles exchanged between the two of you

and many blushes 

and when you get back to your building, he once again walks you back to your door 

“So,” you say, “when do you want to have that date?” 

and he’s blushing all over again as he says, “Um, tomorrow?” 

and you just nod, feeling your smile take over your face

but it’s late af and you gotta sleep so you lean up to kiss his cheek and say, “Goodnight, Youngjae!” 

and he’s just standing in front of your door long after you’ve closed it, staring at the air in front of him, his hand on his cheek 

and then he just looks down at coco and says, “Holy shit...”

Youngjae: This angel most likely wouldn’t notice your habit at first. He would only notice when you were cuddling, and you were drawing circles on his chest. He would stop your hand, and just ask whether you bite your nails. You would nod nonchalantly and he would scrunch up his features. “Aish (Y/N) don’t ruin your fingers like that!” but of course he could never appear angry with you.

Bambam: I think, like Jaebum, he would make a sarcastic comment like “Do they not feed you enough?” when he saw you doing it for the first time. He’d probably forget about it after that. It was only when he saw the state of your nails, when he confronted you about your habit. He wouldn’t make a big deal, he’d just d wrap his arms around you and trap your hands so that you’d stop.

Yugyeom: I don’t think he would have noticed straight away, like a few of his hyungs, but would probably joke about it if he caught you doing it. But as he kept catching you doing it, he would just whine and complain at your habit. “(Y/N) please don’t ruin your nails!” he would exclaim. He would pout cutely to persuade you, and you couldn’t not give into that. Who couldn’t?

Are you guys surprised? I totally tricked everyone with this one. I know I never talk about him and everyone’s minds must be blown right now, but he is my number one everything in life. I love him heart and soul and I’m so proud of everything he’s accomplished. Did you see his swag?

2. Byun Baekhyun (Exo)

6. Kim Fucking Heechul (Super Junior)

Lemme tell y’all a little story. So about a million years ago, I was innocently browsing for a recipe on youtube. My mom wanted me to bring Gaji Namul to some party she was having and I had never cooked eggplant in my life. Suddenly, it suggests I check out a video by some new group in Korea called Super Junior. Back then, I was purely hip-hop/rap biased. Unless you were Tupac Shakur, gtfo. I was bored though, so I thought, “Why not.” That was the beginning of the end for me. Twins by super junior started to play in all of its cheesy glory, and suddenly there was a man with red anime-style hair, and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. I went to google because I just wanted to know their names...

7. Mark Tuan (GOT7)

This is another group where I love them all but feel obligated to choose one (who am I kidding, that’s all my groups) so I chose Mark. Jackson sometimes pokes his head in and Youngjae is an angel that deserves the world. (Actually, can I pick Mark’s dad? He’s cool af)

8.Yook Sungjae (BTOB)

This whole group is made up of the funniest people on the planet, but Sungjae is my main. He’s so freaking gorgeous. I’m so whipped for him I even stan his cat.

9. Lee Hongbin (Vixx)

Vixx is yet another group where I love every single member, but I have a special place in my heart for Hongbin. I could go on about how much I love and adore him, but my hand is starting to get tired. Stan Vixx you fools! 

10. Amber Liu

That’s right. Amber is in my top 10. She’s the total package. She’s hot and hilarious and if you don’t stan her you need to reevaluate your life decisions.

Built this whole gang from scratch 

Has this strong and scary presence around him but he’s actually an angel doesn’t like doing the dirty work himself and instead relies on his other gang members to clean up the mess

Even though he himself and his gang is well known around the city he prefers to stay in the shadows

Has a reputation of one of the fiercest mafia leaders 

And the rumors are true because no one who got on his bad side, got to live to see another day

Meeting you was a complete coincidence as you happened to work in the warehouses where his gang would make deals. You were always told finish up before 9 o’clock in the evening because you might lose your job otherwise and you always obeyed this rule until that day. It took you longer to sort things out than usual and when you were about to leave it was almost 10. You went out through the front exit and were caught up in the middle of two gangs.

“Who the fuck is she?” one man asked.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t see anything, I’m not even supposed to be here, I will never tell anyone, so please-”

“Shut up! You talk to much.” Jaebum ordered. You looked at him frightened.

“It would be better if we just kill her.” the other man spoke again.

“No.” Jaebum said approaching you. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder. “She’s with me.”

Mark Tuan

He’s not in the gang to do business but rather for the many opportunities to steal, especially cars

If he sets his eye on something, there is 110% guarantee that he will get in 24 hours

He thinks Jackson is shady and that he’s probably going to try to steal from him so he avoids him like the plague which almost never works

Because of people like him, he doesn’t go anywhere (not even to sleep) without his trusted revolver

He’s one of the richest among the gang members and likes to show off his precious cars but there will be no hesitation to kill if you as much as touch them

You made the stupid decision of trying to steal from him. You saw his obviously expensive car parked outside one of the clubs and thought that that’s a good catch. However when you drove away with it, expecting to sell it into the black market, Mark himself showed up to buy it from you.

“That’s not very nice.” he said pointing his gun at you. “I really like this one.”

You were surprised the owner of the car found you so fast and just wanted in anticipation to see what will happen.

“But I also find your courage and skills very impressive, not many people dare steal from me, so how about you give me back my car and then I will think what to do with you.”

Jackson Wang

No one knows why he’s in the gang and how he got here

He just started hanging around and before everyone knew it he was already going on missions and making deals

Was very quick to gain everyones trust and respect

He doesn’t have a specific job at the gang as he’s pretty much good at anything

And he also annoys a lot people so they don’t want to take him with them but he shows up anywhere, anytime at the right moment

He met you when he broke into your house in the middle of the night to interrogate you. He woke you up and put his hand over your mouth to stop you from screaming.

“We need to discuss some things, if you behave I won’t hurt you.”

Pretending to fear for your life you just nodded but if he really thought you were afraid, that was a big mistake on his part. You knew this was going to happen someday sooner or later, so you were ready and as soon as he let go of you, you took the scissors from your night stand and stabbed him in the leg. You took off immediately after that and you have no idea how (with that kind of injury) but he managed to catch up and tackle you outside. He dragged you to the back of your apartment building and slammed you into the wall.

“Naughty girl, what did I just say about behaving? I really don’t want to hurt you but if you don’t tell me everything you know right now, I might have to take you with me.”

Park Jinyoung

Doesn’t always look like it but will do anything for the gang

He’s one of the top and most respected assassins in the industry

Prefers to take out his targets silently, that’s why he’s more skilled with hand held weapons like knifes, daggers, axes and so on

Most of the time he’s very collected and calm until you make him angry or his emotions take over, then he uses anything he can find as a weapon and not a single person leaves the room alive

He has been in the business for so long that he already forgot the number of people he killed

Unfortunately it was your mission to kill him, as you were probably the only person crazy enough to try it. He noticed you even before you approached him but didn’t say anything yet. This situation was very amusing to him as there has been a long time since somebody tried to kill him. You were waiting all night to get the right opportunity when you lost track of him. You were about to go look for him when he appeared next to you.

“Looking for someone?” he asked handing you a drink. “Why do you look so shocked? Did you see a ghost or am I that sexy?”

You were still frozen in your tracks when he got closer and closer to you only to pull your gun from under your dress.

“What were you about to do with this?” he smirked pushing you down on the couch. “I think you should sit down because me and you are about to have a very serious talk.”

Choi Youngjae

Specializes in making drug, weapons and other kind of deals

Deal making with him is very quick, as he doesn’t like talking with his business partners about anything else but the deal, so that if anything happens it wouldn’t be traced back to him

Even though he’s well known in the industry not many people know his real name

He’s also the best at smuggling anything in and out of the country

If the money is given to him in cash, he counts every single note as he doesn’t trust people that easily

You tried to cheat your way out of the deal by not giving him a couple of grands, thinking he wouldn’t notice but as you turned around to leave he grabbed you by the arm. 

“No so fast sweetie.” he said. “Do you know what this is?” he asked you and you could feel the coldness of the metal press at your waist.

“It’s a gun.”

“Correct! And I would really hate to use it on you.” he stated snatching your bag out of your hand.

“I will take this.” he smiled taking out a bundle of banknotes out of it. “But as you tried to trick me, I  can’t let you go that easily, so I think I will need something more than that.”

BamBam

Any kind of location, a person, any piece of information - he has it

Is considered very valuable in this business and many gangs try to bribe him to work for them

He has no interest in helping them though and prefers to stick to one group at a time but he’s been in this gang for so long that nowadays he doesn’t even plan on leaving

Has many different methods to get the info he needs, the most infamous one of them being torture

Needless to say if he gets to use that method, you won’t be experiencing anything again. Ever.

You had no idea how it got to that. Seemingly one minute you were fighting alongside your members and now you were strapped to a chair in an unknown building. Someone pulled you up by the chin.

“I told you to look at me when I’m talking to you.” BamBam said. “Ahh such a pretty face!”

“Don’t touch me!” you told trying to smack his hand from your face.

“I think you don’t understand the situation you’re now in. You see, you don’t have many options. Or rather there is only two: you tell me everything you know and I kill you quickly or I torture the information out of you and kill you anyways.”

“How about neither, you fuck.”

“Ouch! You’re just making it worse for yourself but I admire your courage, how about, just for you, I come up with a third option.”

Kim Yugyeom

Was very young when he was thrown into this whole mafia world, still in some sort of training to be a pro

But unexpectedly he’s crazy good with guns, his aim is great and his precision is no joke

Because of that all the members trust him with their lives and he’s taken on missions more often than anyone else

Favourite weapons of choice - long range sniper rifles

Often trains other even older than him gang members and can often be seen practicing till dusk

He was surprised to see he missed and only shot you in the leg. As you disappeared behind a building he decided to come finish you off. When he turned the corner you were nowhere to be seen.

“What the heck, she couldn’t have gone that far off, at this point she should have lost a lot of blood.” he wondered when unexpectedly you attacked him from behind. You took your knife out trying to stab him when he rolled you over and now he was the one on top.

“Oh! I see we have a fighter. How were you even able to stand up?” he questioned you. 

“Stop struggling, will you?” he told you pressing his fingers into the open leg wound. You screamed in pain and passed out. He checked your pulse.

“Good. She’s still alive. If we can get her to behave, she will make a strong ally.” he thought picking you up.
