A pre-roll, also known as a pre-rolled joint, is a convenient and ready-to-use rolled-up cannabis or hemp joint. This term encompasses other expressions such as "pre-rolled" and "pre-roll," all referring to the same high-quality product. Consisting of finely crushed CBD flowers enclosed in rolling paper or a cone, a pre-roll offers a consistent and enjoyable experience.
CBD pre-rolls are a top choice among cannabis consumers due to their simplicity and ease of use, alongside other products like candies, tinctures, and oils. After a long, stressful day, a few puffs from a pre-rolled CBD joint is a perfect way to relax and de-stress. Whether it comes from Sativa or Indica strains, CBD is a powerful medicinal cannabinoid that can provide the desired stress-relieving effects. With a significant global market share, the cannabis sector offers a wide range of CBD products for customers to enjoy.
These CBD pre-rolls come in a range of contents and qualities to best suit your needs. Some are made with a mix of CBD flowers, pollen, and trim, while others offer different ratios of CBD, THC (within France's 0.3% legal limit), CBG, and other cannabinoids. Easy and quick to use, pre-rolls are a convenient option for those new to manual rolling. Plus, their discreet and portable design makes them perfect for on-the-go consumption!

The Value of Quality Control in Pre-Roll Manufacturing
Quality control (QC) is an essential step in the pre-roll production process, as compliance is critical to the success of any cannabis enterprise. There are several components to quality control in joint manufacturing, including checking flowers for chemicals and using suitable handling practices.
Working with an authorized pre-roll manufacturer like Innovative Sourcing gives you access to resources and instruments that can improve your quality control procedures. Automated machinery ensures stable prerolled joints and the best quality papers.
Why is quality control important for the manufacturing of pre-rolls?
In its most basic form, quality control keeps consumers safe by getting rid of polluted and poor cannabis goods. Quality control processes such as post-fill measuring and pre-roll metering help guarantee the production of consistent and homogeneous goods from a business perspective. Thorough controls also guarantee that no floral material is lost.
When you consistently provide high-quality goods, your customers notice and are satisfied. Thus, quality control plays a crucial role in creating brand equity and product distinction in the marketplace.
The Value of Good Pre-Roll and Flower Materials:
Most people primarily consider real flower material when considering quality control in the cannabis sector. Itâs important to utilize high-quality rolling sheets, prerolled cones, and blunt wraps in addition to the best flowers for your pre-rolls. Eventually, poor rolling materials may harm even the finest flowerâs flavor and integrity.
What Role Does Quality Control Play in pre-roll Safety and Hygiene?
As customers consume cannabis products, it is essential to ensure that joints are pure, hygienic, and clean. Across the whole supply chain, from suitable growth techniques to the right packaging and storage options, cannabis manufacturers apply good hygiene and quality control procedures.
In pre-roll production, one of the most important aspects of quality control is proper handling. Because local requirements are different, it is reasonable to presume that wearing gloves when handling flowers is a must. In the same way, keeping cannabis stored at the proper humidity levels is essential to preventing mold growth.
The Negative Impact of Poor Quality Control in Pre-Roll Production?
When pre-roll makers donât follow the right quality assurance processes, a lot of negative things can happen. Issues frequently arise in a âdomino effect,â where failures of regulations cause problems that ultimately spread to the marketplace.
Penalties imposed by regulatory organizations
Negative effects on the reputation of a brand
Decreased income or sales
Concerns regarding health and safety
An excessive amount of product waste
In what manner does Innovative Sourcing support high quality control standards?
Among the top providers of Pre-Rolls in the cannabis sector, Innovative Sourcing provides a range of goods that enable customers to satisfy the most difficult QC standards. For example, the measuring connector that comes with our filling machine guarantees a consistent production of pre-rolled cones.
Before production starts, Innovative Sourcing conducts size audits and pre-sampling. After being cut to a precise size, our rolling sheets and wrappers are rolled in accordance with our gold standards. We perform spot checks throughout manufacturing to guarantee that the paper size is exact and matches the given parameters within the given tolerance.
Which In-House Quality Control Measures Does Innovative Sourcing Apply?
We carefully screen our sources and give their materials a critical examination. Innovative Sourcing checks everything for quality assurance, testing, and final approval prior to offering products to customers. Our QA staff is committed to ensuring that the items fulfill our gold standards.

The Benefits of Buying Wholesale Cannabis Pre-Rolls for Your Dispensary
Wholesale cannabis prerolls have become increasingly popular in recent years, as more and more people are turning to pre-rolled joints as a convenient and easy way to consume cannabis. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at wholesale cannabis prerolls, including what they are, how they're made, and why they're such a great option for both consumers and businesses.
What are Wholesale Cannabis pre-rolls?
Wholesale cannabis prerolls are pre-rolled joints that are sold in bulk to dispensaries, smoke shops, and other businesses that sell cannabis products. They are typically made using high-quality cannabis flowers and are rolled into a joint using a rolling machine. Some companies also use pre-made cones that are filled with cannabis flowers and sealed to ensure a consistent and even burn.
Wholesale cannabis pre-rolls come in a variety of sizes, strains, and flavors, making it easy for businesses to offer their customers a wide range of options. They are often packaged in bulk, with each joint individually wrapped to maintain freshness and quality.
How are Wholesale Cannabis Prerolls Made?
The process of making wholesale cannabis prerolls begins with selecting high-quality cannabis flowers. This flower is then ground up and mixed with any desired additives or flavorings. The mixture is then loaded into a rolling machine, which rolls the mixture into a joint.
Some companies also use pre-made cones that are filled with cannabis flowers using a machine. Once the joints are rolled or filled, they are inspected to ensure they are properly packed and have a consistent burn rate. They are then packaged in bulk and shipped to businesses for resale.
Why Choose Wholesale Cannabis Prerolls?
There are several reasons why wholesale cannabis prerolls are a great option for both consumers and businesses. For consumers, prerolls offer a convenient and easy way to consume cannabis without the hassle of rolling your own joints. They also provide a consistent and even burn, ensuring that you get the most out of your cannabis flower.
For businesses, wholesale cannabis prerolls offer a number of advantages. They allow businesses to offer their customers a wide range of options without having to invest in the equipment and labor required to roll their own joints. They also provide a consistent and high-quality product, ensuring that customers are satisfied with their purchase.
Additionally, buying wholesale cannabis prerolls can be more cost-effective for businesses than buying cannabis flowers and rolling their own joints. This is because prerolls are often sold at a discounted price when purchased in bulk.
Final Thoughts
Wholesale cannabis prerolls are a convenient and high-quality option for both consumers and businesses. They offer a consistent and even burn, making it easy for consumers to enjoy cannabis flowers without the hassle of rolling their own joints. For businesses, prerolls provide a cost-effective and easy way to offer their customers a wide range of options without having to invest in equipment and labor. If you're a cannabis enthusiast or a business owner, wholesale cannabis prerolls are definitely worth considering.

We are Solving the Problem with Pre-Rolled Cones
umans have long been consuming cannabis, ancient populations likely uncovered the psychoactive effects of the plant by chance after burning it. In those early days, cannabis flowers were primarily burned similar to incense, and its fumes were inhaled. In the fifteenth century, when European explorers visited the New World and observed Native Americans smoking tobacco through a pipeâthe discovery changed the way people consumed cannabis (and tobacco) globally. As time went on, and cannabis became more prevalent, alternative forms of consumption were developed to thoughtfully and more efficiently enjoy the plantâs effects. joint roller machine
Eventually, cannabis became illegal in many areas of the world, and consumers were forced to consider a more discreet way to enjoy the plant. The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 (United States) had an immense impact on the way Americans consumed cannabis. Once the act was passed, cannabis smokers needed to conceal their practice or risk arrest. In this era, the spliff and joint became increasingly popularâthey could easily pass for a tobacco cigarette and be discarded swiftly.
Cannabis Industry Terms
Spliff. A mixture of cannabis flower and tobacco wrapped in rolling paper.Â
Joint. Cannabis flower wrapped in rolling paper.
In todayâs modern culture, many regions around the globe are decriminalizing and/or legalizing the consumption of cannabis. With legalization, consumers no longer legally need to disguise their cannabis usage, so why does it seem like joints are more popular than ever? Smokingâ âaâ âjointâ âisâ âperhapsâ âtheâ âmostâ ârecognizableâ âwayâ âtoâ âenjoyâ âcannabis.â âJointsâ âareâ âextremelyâ âconvenient:â âeasyâ âtoâ âsmoke,â âeasyâ âtoâ âpass,â âandâ âeasyâ âtoâ âtransport.â Plus, sharing a joint with friends has a ceremonial-like, iconic attribute, loved equally by both seasoned tokers and cannabis newcomers alike. Dispensaries today often give free pre-rolled joints as a gift with purchase or some other promotional incentives, which has aided in its recent fame. Â
what is a cannabis pre-roll?
Cannabis pre-rolls contain pre-ground cannabis flower, rolled and ready-to-go. Pre-rolls are simply cannabis joints that have been rolled ahead of time (by hand or machine) for you. Sometimes, pre-rolls contain infusions or other added cannabis products to increase their potency.Â
what is a cone or pre-rolled cone?
Cones are hand-rolled paper, that has been rolled ahead of time, for you to fill with ground cannabis flower. Cones are made overseas and commonly shipped to the United States in extremely inadequate containers.Â
Despite the cannabis jointâs history, popularity, and widespread use, pre-roll distribution is fairly new to the scene. Rolling or packing cannabis pre-rolls by hand can be tedious and involve human error. So, it came as no surprise when innovators began developing systems to more efficiently manufacture pre-rolled joints. The first machines set out to increase workflowâan employee may fill four cones per minute, while a pre-roll filling machine can fill hundreds within an hour.Â
Many variables were overlooked when these first automated pre-roll filling machines became availableâmaking it difficult for the devices to deliver consistent, quality, pre-rolled cannabis joints. Itâs not only the ingredients, from flower to paper, that produces an excellent jointâthe construction of the joint is just as important.
Cannabis flower needs to be broken or ground into the right size pieces and packed to the correct density for an even and efficient draw. Currently, automated pre-roll cone filling machines have a reputation for delivering inconsistent and often harsh smoking experiences. But the Blackbird Rolling System is here to change that.
the problem with current pre-roll machines
Many cannabis dispensaries and retailer pre-roll products fall short of delivering an enjoyable joint smoking experience. It is common to hear about consumers who had an unpleasant experience with a pre-roll. Harshness, uneven burning, and finding a joint impossible to ignite are typical grievances.Â
The Blackbird is an industry-born, fully automated system designed specifically to tackle the quality and consistency issues currently plaguing commercial pre-roll production. At the heart of the machine is RollPros patent-pending TruRoll technology that creates two perfectly rolled joints every 9.5 seconds.
Along with significantly reducing manual labor, the Blackbird uses sustainably sourced bobbins of paper and filter tips, reducing raw material costs and further maximizing your profitability. Using truly raw materials, the Blackbird Rolling System is the first machine that does not require pre-made cones.Â
With so many variables overlooked during their initial design, it's not surprising that even with the latest upgrades and advancements available for pre-rolled cone filling machines, they still underperform. Why? Itâs not only the ingredients, from flower to paper, that produces an excellent jointâthe construction of the joint is just as important.

Episode 3: A Hesitating Pulse Is Good Company
I still remember the first time I came to Melbourne; I was about 18. Everything was foreign and weird and busy and sunny. âPeople are strange, when you're a stranger. Faces look ugly, when you're alone.â I ended up in Collingwood, another planet to me back then. I found solace in a corner pub. The porch light was on and it was the closest thing to home as I could find.Â
Living in the big smoke isn't for everyone, but certain people just fucking thrive. Jay is one of those people. Totally sober in the spot he lives, figuratively speaking. When I first met the bloke, he showed me through his place in his moccasins (yeah I remember mate) and pointed out different pieces of art, memorabilia, just stuff. The stuff that we fill our spaces with because we love looking at it and it's a puzzle of what makes us, âusâ. This was the shit that he loves and you could see it straight away. Outside, there was this faint buzz of the city, with a heartbeat and tyre noise and the smell of god knows what. Maybe a police siren or some shit. It reminded me of a song, with the line "A hesitating pulse is good company". If I was to sum up Collingwood, especially in that house on that day, it would be with that line. "A hesitating pulse is good company".Â
Firstly, Jay is a bloody good bloke. My old man would always tell me the best way to approach somebody is like this: If you think you're a good fella, I do too, until you prove me wrong. Something tells me that Jay hasn't proven anyone wrong.Â
Knowing this about him, we approached Jay recently about doing a story and he was more than happy to go with it, which actually sort of posed a problem; he's got so many fucking things on the go, and is equally good at all of them, that we were hard pressed to make room for it all. But we'll give it a red hot crack anyway.Â
Born in the early 90s, Jay spent most of his time as a young fella riding BMX like most of us did. Outside til dark, jumping kerbs, ruining your shoes by putting them in between the forks and the front tyre. Yeah we all did it. "How do you keep ruining your shoes so quickly??" the words rang out across the house and you knew you were about to get whooped. Street Sharks on the telly, poster of Matt Hoffman on the bedroom wall. How good was that? Then the natural transition (as if that isn't the best fucking pun I've ever heard) to skateboarding. "The first skate video I ever saw was a FLIP SORRY part. That got me so pumped up to go skate, the whole soundtrack and attitude was surreal! Skateboarding basically consumed my life from then all the way up til now," he says, and yeah, it fucking shows. "I tell you what, I had a few Margera decks growing up. But Geoff Rowley stood out for me, and still influences me for sure, even to this day."
There's always been this weird connection between skating and motorcycles; we're not talking your $40,000 BMW touring bike or your Hyabusa. We're talking about Triumphs, Harleys, chopped up Honda's. Making noise and pissing people off. Literally giving the finger to anyone who gives you that greasy look. "I got into motorcycles when I was about 21 or 22, after a trip to the US. All I'd ever wanted to do was go to the U.S and skate all the spots I'd seen in the videos. I had organized with a friend from Geroa (check a map) to head over; his old lady owned a condo in Oceanside, Cali. They were kind enough to invite me over to stay."Â
âWe're talking about Triumphs, Harleys, chopped up Honda's. Making noise and pissing people off. Literally giving the finger to anyone who gives you that greasy lookâ
"I took some photos of that chopper on this 35mm Minolta 201 I got for $30 on eBay.â
"So there we are at a skate park in California, and a mate of Ray's rolled up on this bad-ass cone Shovel chopper that he built himself. I didn't grow up around parents or a cool uncle who rode motorcycles, so when I was confronted with this dirty, leaky machine, I was fascinated. No foot pegs, looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 80s. We were in the car on highway, watching him haul ass, weaving in and out of lanes, skateboard strapped to the sissy bar. That was it for me" he says, and you know that you had the same moment at some point in your life where you went "Yep, that's what I'm all about". He continues, "I took some photos of that chopper on this 35mm Minolta 201 I got for $30 on eBay. Turned out the mechanism to eject the film was broken so I lost it all. Still have the memories though. I came home to Australia and maybe a month later I went and bought a 2016 Sporty 48; because what the fuck do I know about building old motorcycles?" But who the fuck cares what it is right, as long as it's not a street bike.Â
This leads us into another jack of all trades moment with Jay; photography. "Sometimes when I'm feeling frisky, I whip out the old Nikon D700. I take 6 photos or maybe 30, and sometimes 1 will come out good. I'm not a photographer, I just take photos sometimes.", which is pretty much enough to sum it up. "I'm stoked with a whole bunch of photos I've taken, and that's all that fuckin' matters." Too right bloke.Â
"Sometimes when I'm feeling frisky, I whip out the old Nikon D700. I take 6 photos or maybe 30, and sometimes 1 will come out good. I'm not a photographer, I just take photos sometimes."
"Sometimes I paint, sometimes I get angsty sitting there for long periods of time trying to figure out colour blending and all the rest. I did the Knucklehead painting and that's pretty much where that ends." I was actually lucky enough to grab said Knucklehead painting, which takes pride of place in my lounge room. It's a wicked, dusty, rusty painting that tells you that the motor is as old as sin. Just how we like it. "I can't draw to save my life, but I spent what felt like 3 months working on it here and there." That led us to a pretty significant point in the story, with what I guess I'm trying to capture with these interviews. "Expressing yourself is a great way to be heard; you can tell a story through an action, a photo, a drawing..whatever. And without self expression, the world is a pretty boring place." Â
âI was actually lucky enough to grab said Knucklehead painting, which takes pride of place in my lounge roomâ
So, as far as the nitty gritty, I think a lot of us have seen Jay's scoot by now. That 48 Sporty we mentioned earlier was written off "trying to pull a wheelie leaving work", which is a pretty standard outcome I reckon. So the white beast is a 72 Sporty, which was stripped down and and built back up by David at Primal Garage, with some work being done by Sean at Bar-None Moto. He cut the rear fender struts, and had some solid bar machined up to look like suspension, but it is actually hard-tailed. He also lifted the tank a little, modified the seat pan that Sean made, fit a new rear fender so it tucked nicely around the tire. He also freshened up the bike by re-painting the tins pearl white, with champagne stripes fading to silver. He also chucked the Leviathan cross on the tank at my request. He finished it all off with a set of bad ass up sweeps! Sean smashed out new bars, sissybar, license plate/ brake light bracket, and gave Dave a good start on the king/queen seat pan. Now I have a sweet ass looking bike that Iâve barely ridden this year. Covid has been a struggle", he says, and those of you in Victoria can attest to the fact that this year has been a total write off. Not being able to get out, hit some pubs, roll the swag out beside the bike and sleep in the dirt; that's our lockdown. "Iâve gone damn near everywhere on that bike, I love it to bits!"Â
âHe cut the rear fender struts, and had some solid bar machined up to look like suspension, but it is actually hard-tailed.â
There arenât too many ways to describe riding a motorcycle to somebody who hasn't done it. And there's a difference again between riding in total comfort, heated grips, perfect riding position, had vitamins this morning, has a go-pro strapped to his head, has every supply under the sun in his bags, middle aged dentist on a touring bike. I'm talking about being stripped down of all fancy equipment, burning your legs, can't hear anything, welts on your face, hot, cold, numb fingers, sore arse, no fuel left, phone is dead, you're still 50kms from where you think the camp spot is but you know what? You could keep riding for another 1000kms because fuck me, this is what it's about.Â
â..total comfort, heated grips, perfect riding position, had vitamins this morning, has a go-pro strapped to his head, has every supply under the sun in his bags, middle aged dentist on a touring bike.â
The smell of a campfire, the taste of a bug on your teeth, the spine shattering crack from a pothole on your hardtail, losing your house keys somewhere in the last 2 days riding, unpeeling yourself from the bike and finally being able to stretch your hips as the locals stare. "Passing out in the dirt, waking up in the rain. Skateboarding was my first love, but riding motorcycles is one big adventure, and the best one I've been on in years." says Jay, as I think we all for a moment realize that from now on, whenever anyone asks "Hey, lets skip town for a night on the bikes", you're going to say yes regardless, for fear of never being able to do it again.Â
"Passing out in the dirt, waking up in the rain. Skateboarding was my first love, but riding motorcycles is one big adventure, and the best one I've been on in years."
If our readers are anything like us, and I think they are, living in the city is doable if there's an escape in between the chaos. "Pre-Covid, my girlfriend (Asti) and our dog (Luna) and I would head up into the mountains every other weekend. Find a cool spot to park and just walk around for awhile, explore. We could let Luna off lead and she loved it. I like shooting photos in the forest. Nature is the best".Â
"Camping holds a special place in my heart. I love the smell of a campfire, endless banter between mates, NO RECEPTION. Not showering for awhile is also a guilty pleasure. We've all had our fair share of wet-wipe showers". I'll be honest, as long as there's water near by, that's good enough for me. Winter or not. Which reminds me, little tip for painting the town brown in the bush; dig two little holes for your heels, stick a log or the shovel in the ground, hang onto it and lean back. Opens up the bowels. (You'll thank me I reckon).Â
ââWe've all had our fair share of wet-wipe showers"
Everyone has a favorite camping story. I think as time has gone on, they donât stand out as much as they used to, they're all great. Even when you ended up broken down in the rain, lost, hungry, hungover. Still better than a night in the city if you ask me.Â
"My favorite camp spot was something not easily forgotten. Â My girlfriend and I tripped out to Wilsonâs Promontory one weekend. We paid to spend the night in the camp site which was basically a grass car park with no fires allowed and we decided that it just wouldnât fly with us. We packed a couple of backpacks with the tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bags etc. We hiked a trail for an hour or so, scouting a suitable place to set up shop along the way. We eventually decided to veer off the trail, and head down through the shrub toward the ocean. We ended up finding the most insane spot! On top of a cliff, a nice flat piece of land on some moss covered rocks. Looking over the ocean. We were even graced with a sunset, right over the water, directly in front of us. Romantic as fuck, it was amazing. Golden hour blew us away. Not a single person in sight, but us. We got a little fire going and just marveled at what we found and where we were. That was the best camp spot for sure. If it were possible to accompany that with motorcycles, shit. I could have died right there and then."
ââEven when you ended up broken down in the rain, lost, hungry, hungover. Still better than a night in the city if you ask meââ
âWe packed a couple of backpacks with the tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bags etc. We hiked a trail for an hour or so, scouting a suitable place to set up shop along the way.â
I reckon that's a pretty good image to leave this story on. I think there's something special about people who can find solace in nothing, in no-one, just being content with what's happening at that moment in time. A sunset, setting off a car alarm with your pipes, burning away from a servo with a full tank of fuel. The big picture is made up of a million little pictures.
We always ask people what their life motto is; what they stand by. Jay gave us this. "Do more of what makes you happy. Whatever it is.â
Thanks bloke, it's been a time and a half. First beer is on me once the wall comes down.
"Do more of what makes you happy. Whatever it is."

Hook, Line, and Sinker
Title: Hook, Line, and Sinker by @tisfan Link: AO3 Square Filled: R3 - dares/bets Ship: Bucky/Tony, Tony & Rhodey Rating: teen Major Tags: hangover, broship, rhodey is a good bro, dares/bets, blind date, sort of, pre-slash Summary: Tony woke up with a hangover and someoneâs phone number. Rhodey doesnât quite believe it. With Tonyâs prize Shelby on the line... Word Count: 1,885 Created for @tonystarkbingo
A/n: This is the sequel to this Februaryâs Candy Hearts ficlet, Pick-up lines, but the story is self-contained. A requested and tipped fic for @unreliableunseelie
Tony woke up with a head full of cotton batting, a mouth full of dragon shit, and a memory of the previous evening that was entirely lacking.
He managed to roll over, away from the very annoying beam of light -- light, hah, felt more like a brain-destroying laser -- that was flooding his room, at the expense of everything left over in his stomach rebelling. âOh, god,â he said, and then sprinted for the bathroom.
Okay, sprint was pushing it. Ambled with purpose and direction.
Whatever heâd eaten had probably tasted better on the way down, but since Tony couldnât remember anything after he and Rhodey hit the third bar, he couldnât guarantee it. He was just trying to find a bar that had the right ambiance.
He wasnât sure heâd managed it.
He bid farewell to his late night snack, flushed, rinsed his mouth, spit. Used the bathroom for its other purpose, flushed again.
Considered taking a shower.
Considered not taking a shower.
Honestly, his sadiversary was getting to be old news, and he was too old to be acting like that anymore anyway.
He wasnât even sure he really missed Steve anymore.
Did he?
He didnât. Tony decided that, firmly. He did not miss Steve, that wasnât going to happen anymore.
He tried to remember if heâd decided that last year, too.
Maybe he could go for a big party, his five year sadiversary next year, and then, it could all be over, over, over.
âOr you could just stop,â Tony told his reflection.
Shower.
He could do it.
Not mourning his failed relationships any longer.
He could do that, too.
Tony emptied his pockets; heâd apparently just rolled into bed, since the only thing he was missing from his outfit were his shoes and tie. And god only knew, he might have thrown the tie out last night. Heâd been known to do that sort of thing before.
âNew man,â he told his reflection. âNew life.â
Wallet. Keys. Phone.
Cocktail napkin.
Cocktail napkin?
There were digits on a cocktail napkin. In his pocket.
âJarvis, call Rhodey,â he told his phone. His phone did its thing while Tony finished getting undressed. âSpeaker.â
âThereâs coffee already prepped for you downstairs, no you didnât puke last night before I left,â Rhodey said as soon as he picked up. âYour car is fine, we left it at the garage, and as far as I know, there are no warrants out for your arrest.â
âThank you for that cheerful morning report,â Tony said. He turned the shower on and shivered as the water didnât insta-heat and the first blast was cold over his forearm and hand.
âSeems like what youâd want to know,â Rhodey said. âHowâs the hangover?â
âI think itâs been worse,â Tony said, stepping into the spray. It was still not as warm as he wanted it to be, so he turned it up some while he waited, cringing all the way in the back of the shower, away from the cold.
Which was stupid, because thirty seconds later it was way too hot and he had to reach through it to turn it down. He should get on the set-my-preferences shower system that would just⊠chime when it was ready. Like a microwave.
Except, you know, nothing like an actual microwave, because those were dangerous, even on short term exposure.
âYou were doing okay, last night,â Rhodey said. âWith the drinking. But then you decided to play bertie botts every flavor ice cream last night with some ridiculous little ice cream shop thatâs open twenty-four seven and what the hell man, I could not keep you from eating chocolate and jalapeno ice cream at three in the morning.â
âWell, that explains my rude awakening,â Tony said. He considered that for a moment. âDid I say it was good? I mean, it sounds kinda awful, but also intriguing.â
âI didnât eat it,â Rhodey said. âAnd I donât lick another manâs ice cream cone, thatâs just wrong. Especially when itâs yours.â
âSo what kind did you have?â
âMaple Bacon with Jack Daniels,â Rhodey said without a hint of shame.
âWhereâs this ice cream shop again? I think Iâd like to go there when Iâm sober.â
âWe can make that happen, Tones.â
âGreat,â Tony said. He filled his luffa with shower gel and was instantly drowning in some vaguely outdoorsy scented soap. âSo, tell me, did I score last night?â
âYou certainly did not,â Rhodey said.
âReally? Cause I got digits here that say otherwise.â
âThat is a fake number, that guy totally did not give you his real number, you were being a total drunken asshole, flirting with some bar-bum. Like the worst lines ever. I wouldnât date you with those lines.â
âRhodey, youâve known me since I was fifteen. Iâm pretty sure if you were going to date me, youâd have said something about it by now. Fake number, huh?â
âYou donât remember?â
âI donât even remember the ice cream, much less flirting,â Tony said.
âOh, well⊠too bad. You two totally played tonsil hockey for a while,â Rhodey said.
âI thought you said it was a fake number,â Tony said. He rubbed shampoo into his hair. âSo, if we were necking, that seems to counter the theory that itâs fake.â
âIt was a pity kiss,â Rhodey said.
âNobody gives pity kisses,â Tony scoffed. âAnd even if they did, no one would pity kiss me. I mean, Iâm⊠good looking. Mostly.â He rinsed his hair, let the shower water run down his head for a while. Maybe he could drown in the shower, that might cure the hangover. Of course, it would mean drowning, and that just sounded uncomfortable. Not to mention, the whole being naked and dead thing. Would he even care about his image if he was dead, or would he be too dead to care?
Tony shook his head, which was a mistake.
âDonât even try that false modesty bullshit, Tony,â Rhodey said. âYou know youâre the thing. Mr. Thing, Mr. Third most Eligible.â
âYeah, I never liked that shit, brings the gold diggers out in full force. One of these days, Iâd like someone to like me for⊠you know. Me.â
âYeah, Tones, whatâs not to like about you?â
âI hear that sarcasm,â Tony said. âAnd youâre hurting me here, sourpatch. I am hurt. Like, there might be actual tears and everything.â
âLook,â Rhodey said, âyou and that guy, you were on the same page last night, but Iâm telling you, you were reading totally different books.â
âIâm gonna call him,â Tony said.
Rhodey scoffed. âNo, youâre not.â
âI am.â He wasnât.
âI bet you itâs a false number.â
âBet you it isnât.â
âOh, itâs on, Tones,â Rhodey said. âA hundred dollars says itâs a fake.â
âFive hundred,â Tony said, âverses --â he paused, trying to think of something Rhodey actually wanted that Tony might feel bad about giving him. There wasnât much; usually Rhodey wouldnât let Tony give him gifts, not like expensive, real ones, at any rate. And Pepper kept boycotting his idea of buying Rhode Island and renaming it. She said it wasnât a good tax write off. Spoilsport.
âThe Shelby.â
âWo-- my car?â
âTony, you have like seventy cars. But I like that one.â
âDeal. Iâll take my winnings in cash, no trade value,â Tony said. âJarvis, end call.â
Tony got out of the shower and toweled off. Less vigorously than normal because see previously mentioned: hung over. Got his bathrobe and made his way to the kitchen. Punched the button on his coffee machine.
Considered the cocktail napkin and his phone.
Drank his coffee.
Dialed the number.
âMmmphs?â a voice said, a male voice, even, so Tony figured he might be getting somewhere. âIf this isnât an insanely good looking guy, Iâm hanging up.â
âWell, youâre in luck today,â Tony said.
âDo I know you?â the voice wondered. âBecause really, I donât think I made friends with people who were cheerful at⊠ug⊠itâs not even nine in the morning, what kind of masochist are you, itâs Saturday.â
Already, a man after my own heart. âUm, this is probably going to sound weird, but uh⊠did you give your number to anyone last night?â
There was a very long pause and Tony might have thought that the person hung up, except he could hear breathing.
âYessss,â the man said, tentatively. âIf youâre a friend of Sammieâs though, and this is a joke, you let that half-assed--â
âNot a joke--â Tony protested. âI found a cocktail napkin in my pocket, and I was wonderingâŠâ Wondering what, actually. If he was the guy from last night, if theyâd had a good time, if it was a nice kiss, whatâs your name, what do you look like⊠âwould you like to have an ice cream with me. Today?â
âWha---?â The guy asked. âAre you seriously asking me on an ice cream date after a ten minute conversation in a bar?â
âWhy not?â Might as well roll with it, now that heâd gotten started. âJust, no strings or anything, no nothing. Just ice cream and a little get to know you. What, coffee dates are lame, everyone does coffee dates. I drink so much coffee that itâs like having a date at the corner water cooler.â
âYeah, okay,â the guy said. âIce cream date. Sure, why not?â
âOkay, so⊠four oâclock? Um⊠Iâll, um, text you the address? And⊠I might have had beer goggles on last night, so, text me back a picture? Just to make sure, because Iâm pretty sure the conversation was with an angel, or a model or something.â Tony didnât actually remember the guy at all, but a little flattery. And heâd win his bet⊠right? He could part with the car if the picture was scary. Hell, even if the picture wasnât scary, he owed the guy for letting him know what Rhodey wanted for his next present.
âSure,â the guy said. âIâll⊠uh, see you at four, then.â
âYep!â
Fortunately, typing in maple bacon jack daniels ice cream in his search engine got him the address for the ice cream shop. He texted his date -- who⊠had a name. And it was probably a boyâs name, too, except Tony didnât know it. Fuck.
Then he texted Rhodey: Got a date. Four oâclock. Ice cream shop. Cash only!
A few seconds later, he texted again. Or, if he happened to tell me his name last night and you remember it, Iâll forgive you for betting against me.
New Text From Rhodey: Bucky Barnes.
Tony stared at the screen for a long moment. Then. Youâre forgiven for thinking it was a fake number because Iâm not sure thatâs a real name.
New text from unknown number: Selfie from the gym a few weeks ago.
Attached was a picture of a guy wearing a baseball hat and workout clothes, scowling fiercely and pulling up his shirt to reveal ridiculously sculpted abs.
Tony stared.
âYouâd think Iâd remember him,â he said wistfully.
Texted back See you at Four.
New text from unknown number: looking forward to it. My first ice cream date since high school.
Tony texted Rhodey again, attaching the picture.
Cash. Only. I lied. You are totally not forgiven.Â
