remember how duvall lived above/worked part time at a book shop in town pre-canon? wouldn’t it be silly and romantic if he sold chine his fable book/field journal?
it’d be awful writing to have farmer-chine go into the store for an excuse to see duvall and end up fascinated by a book of fables in there. like - chine, adhd-embodied, found school so boring he’d never bothered to go in there, but once he does…
#it’s probably some sort of cleaver initiation thing to get a fable book but#chine/duvall#junk food#chine’s relationship with literacy is something that comes up exactly once on screen and yet i love to think about it#(the one time: when he writes the train fight down and dre describes it as excessively purple prose)#(if i’m remembering right lol)

hahahaha i've hurt myself,
thinking about the mirroring of the last time chine and duvall see eachother in their pre-canon adventures (chine's story of when he and duvall were exploring a mystery, chine disappointed because duvall leaves before they're ready and framing it as duvall outgrowing their mutual interests, not wanting to play with chine anymore)
and the last time they see eachother alive (duvall leaving chine, unwilling to stay and play at the carnival forever)
