❛ don't worry. i'm not gonna rat you out. ❜ grace had slipped into the hall with nobody else around — all of the other crewmates seemed to be busying themselves with work. she'd ran through the list of tasks she'd been assigned today and double checked, triple checked... all finished for the day. with nothing else to occupy herself with, she'd taken to walking around the premises of the tulpar and its narrow halls. that's when she caught sight of jimmy, the scent of nicotine hanging in the air an unusual but noteworthy detail.

❛ how'd you even get those, anyway? ❜ a slight tilt of her head, curiosity visible in the technician's eyes as she watched @ih0pethishurts. ❛ brought them all the way from earth, or something? ❜

❛ sure, i don't mind sour food! ❜ anya's lips curve up into a smile, albeit somewhat shy, as she reaches over to accept the offered snack. she pulls her hand back from the bag with one of them in hand, taking a bite. she waits until she's done chewing to speak up again, glancing at jamie with an approving nod.

anya smiles a little bit at daisuke's retrieval of the pillow and takes a seat, giving him an appreciative and thankful nod in acknowledgement. ❛ that sounds good! take your time. ❜

once he returns and asks her about connecting to a local network, anya furrows her brows. ❛ um... you know, i'm not actually sure. this might sound a bit sad to admit it, but i've never actually played minecraft multiplayer with others...

Daisuke gives Anya a pillow for a more comfortable sitting, takes his console and turns it on.

"While it's booting, I'll go to our computer and try to create a local network, okay? It won't take much time, I promise", he says and leaves the room.

It takes about five minutes to create a local network, but Daisuke succeeds and comes back. He sits down on the coach, takes his console and connects it to the local network.

"Do you know how to connect to a local network? I can help you if you don't".

an idea occurred to anya as she puts the stethoscope back in its place, her usually half-lidded eyes widening slightly in an attentive state. ❛ oh! i have an emergency inhaler in the cabinet, if you think that might help? i wish this ship carried higher-grade medical supplies like oxygen tanks, but ... i'd like to try everything i can to help alleviate your suffering. ❜

anya knows she has the tendency to fuss and fret. this guy seems nice enough, though, and he's calling her doc and the likes... a sure-fire way to improve her mood. she smiles softly, head tilted to the side. ❛ i... can't imagine it's easy to be out in space. you're being very brave. ❜

"Someone who's been feeling it as of lately, your eyes and everything." An observation that comes off rude, a brash person to call out what's wrong or not. "But you are a doctor I forgot, so pardon me."

It was strenuous to take a deep breath. His contracting muscles causing an aching sensation in his lungs before giving up completely. He would cough to lessen the strain within his chest as a result of inhaling the fresh oxygen for once.

"I used to smoke, not anymore." He placed a palm against his neck, massaging it before letting out an aggressive cough to clear it for once. "With how claustrophobic everything feels, maybe I should get back into smoking."

A dismissive hand to ease her concerns. "I'm joking, doc."

Daisuke handles it like a champ. In the way that means he very much doesn't.

Absolute mess, apologizing profusely as he backs away, shielding his eyes dramatically. Hits the sides of the door on his way out. Both sides. He pin-balled.

Recovers fast but can't look at you in the eyes for a long time without picturing you like that.

"So how does it work when he's, y'know?"

So curious that it's not even funny.

Tries to get Curly to tell him the facts but Curly just does his laugh rattle

Honestly, he doesn't treat either of you differently, but he grins SUPER wide each time you go in to check in on Curly

"Get it, Captain!!!!"

May or may not time you just to tease you about it (gets so red if you tease him back)

Processes then immediately walks out

"Is this what kids do these days?"

Knew about you and curly's relationship/situation so he isn't surprised.

But you'll get his fatherly look of disappointment.

Doesn't tell anybody else because he knew it was consensual from the sounds you both made (he definitely asked Curly afterward just to make sure)

If you take a lot of shift work watching curly, he'll intercept and roll his eyes, "Jesus, let the poor guy rest"

She all but separates you from curly as fast as she can, tears in her eyes.

Curly sure as hell never protected her from Jimmy but she wouldn't let you abuse one of her patients.

Anya is still suspicious and weary. It's months before she stops hovering by the door, but a part of her is relieved, too.

Honestly becomes kind of bitchy about the whole ordeal

Passive aggressive with you afterwards, but fortunately, because nobody is really alone anymore, he can't do anything to you about it. If he had been attracted to you before and the crash never happened, you'd be in hot water.

Curly, however, gets the short end of the stick. Have you heard the audio of what Jimmy does to Curly the second time when giving him pills? Yep, he beats him more routinely

After all, how is it fair that Curly has doomed them all but still gets the glory?

a little laugh escapes anya at daisuke's words, shallow but no less genuine as she sits at her desk; it's nice, really, to have that kind of reassurance. she thinks for a moment that he must've been looking at that yimpy drawing, too — how funny it is. anya's kept it pinned up there for the occasional laugh or even just a tired smile. making fun of jimmy goes a long way with her, admittedly...

❛ ah, that's okay. i don't mind you being, as he says, a yapper... just having someone to brighten the mood is good enough for me. ❜ she smiles, though brows knit together in some kind of perpetual anxiety that seems to linger on her face. it's difficult to keep that smile lasting for long, though, when she decides to confide in him just a little. no need to rush into any of the details, if daisuke gets uncomfortable or anya can't finish her train of thought.

❛ you know... i really like that drawing you did for me. it's one of my favorite things on my board, if you can believe it. ❜ a deep breath follows. ❛ maybe, before i get into the details, i should ask ... has anyone on the ship ever made you uncomfortable? ❜

she'll close the door if she needs to, but she doesn't want daisuke to feel pressured to talk behind closed doors.

Daisuke’s never really been a "gut feeling" kinda guy — not that he doesn't believe it's possible or real, but too often his head in the clouds; not grounded enough or tapped into the situation at hand to really gauge what is going on or what to think. Thinking is hard, thinking isn’t something he feels particularly good at, especially these days what with his abject failure to understand any of Swansea's instructions — but there is an undeniable pit of dread in his gut, and he thinks that he can see that hesitation and… fear? in Anya’s eyes. 

He steals another glance back out the door before he steps further inside, settling down on the desk chair he sits at for their psych evals. It’s up to her whether or not the door is closed. He doesn't look at her, instead averting his eyes to the posters neatly and lovingly pinned to the corkboard. He knows how heavy the burden of watchful eyes can be. He smiles as he notices that dumb little doodle of his tacked up with all the rest.

          “ I can be what you need me to be, promise. A friend, a confidant, and a distraction. All at once. Heck, we can even just sit here in silence if you want. I dunno — is that silly? Maybe that’s silly. Swansea says I’m a yapper — ”

❛ i'm afraid not... ❜ in the night hours, the tulpar ship transitions the large screen in the middle of the lounge into a night sky. it's anya's favorite time of "day" — the colors of the night are serene, and if she tries hard enough ( or, gets lost enough in her imagination enough... ) she can pretend she's looking out at the earth's sky. now, though, with some company ... she turns to hugo, tilting her head.

❛ would you like to join me? ❜ she smiles shyly, gesturing at all of the empty couch space beside her. ❛ plenty of room on this, um... how do you call it? long sofa? ❜ that doesn't sound quite right, but it's one of those english words that her mind occasionally gets stuck on. ( ottoman sofa, maybe...? )

anyhow, anya doesn't linger on that, her smile a bit nervous and apologetic, for one reason or another. she continues in a gentle voice. ❛ if you're having trouble sleeping too, that is ... sometimes, it's nice to just sit and look at the sky screen. ❜
