Guys please Perú is facing one of the worst period of time, the north of our country its totally inundated and people r dying and losing their home and everything and u r thinking 'what can we do to help ?' PLEASE HELP MY CITY TRUJILLO-PERU!

My country, Peru, is suffering from the aftermaths of the "El Niño" phenomenon.  Many of my people residing in the north of Peru have received the harsher hits--houses have collapsed, the streets are flooded, and innocent Peruvians are going missing and drowning in the cold of the water. Our government is not helping, even though this year is the worst El Niño has given us. My city, Trujillo, can not receive help even if there was any. Bridges have collapsed, and the Panamericana Norte has been blocked. And so, my beloved city is cut off from any outside contact, or help, from the rest of the country. The airport is the only way for anyone to get in or out, and even then no car can get in, the future passengers need to walk to the entrance instead, one that is being guarded by soldiers and surrounded by sandbags to prevent flooding entering the airport. My grandmother, Albina Garcia Sanchez, is the president of a charity organization called Asociacion Mollepata Trujillo "ASMOT", located in San Isidro, Trujillo.  It's an organization composed on indigenous Mollepatinos of Peru that serves to help the poor in the streets of Trujillo. Now, more than ever, they need all the help they can get in order to save our city. My father, Fernando Armas Mejia, is a retired cop who now works in the city council and has been helping the families affected in my neighborhood and throughout Trujillo. My grandmother and him, with both their organizations, are willing to help the city of Trujillo go back to how it used to be. But for that to happen, we need your help. We need the money for food, clothes, medicine, and for reconstruction of fallen houses. Please, help my country. We need the donations as soon as possible. Even just one dollar counts because $1 US dollar equals $3.25 Peruvian soles. Please, please help my country. The death toll raised to 67 already. Please. We need you.

Guys the situation in Peru is getting worse each day specially in the coast of the capital and the north of the country. This floods are bringing down people, animals and even house with them. People are losing their lives and their jobs because it’s affecting farms and crops. If you have family in Peru (specially Lima, Chiclayo, Piura) contact your family and make sure they are okay. My country is not prepared for this type of disasters and even the citizens are the ones helping. Please spread this so more people can know.

La situación en Perú está empeorando, especialmente al norte del país y en la parte costera de Lima. Los huaicos están arrastrando personas, animales e inclusive casas (en el vídeo no se ve pero la corriente arrastró un container hasta que tapó la parte baja del puente). Las chacras están siendo afectadas y muchas personas pierden sus trabajos debido a eso. A algunos los han rescatado en helicóptero. Si tienen familia en Perú o si viven en Perú traten de comunicarse preguntando por la situación o como se encuentran. Perú no está preparado para estos desastres e inclusive los vecinos están ayudando a limpiar los escombros o ayudar en los rescates. UPDATE

I’m going to explain how it works but I’ll just tell you again to please contact your family if they are in one of the affected zones. My parents are checking on family and friends and luckily there hasn’t been a lost but the most affected are in the Northern parts of Peru.

La aplicación Uber está aceptando donaciones que llegarán a nuestros hermanos del Norte a través de la opción UberSOS. Mañana jueves 16 de Marzo de 10 a.m a 3 p.m y estarán recolectando productos como

Ropa y calzado

Para enviar donaciones se tienen que realizar los siguientes pasos:

1. Abre la app de Uber (se puede descargar sin costo en Play Store para usuarios Android o AppStore para usuarios iOS)

2. Selecciona la opción UberSOS

3. Pide el Uber en esa opción (el pedido es sin costo, el envío de donaciones será gratuito)

4. Un conductor Uber irá a la donde est��s a recoger tu donación

Los productos recibidos serán recolectados enel centro de activación y posteriormente serán entregados al Ministerio de Producción en el puerto del Callao. Ellos tienen un barco que zarpará el viernes 17 de Marzo a las 12 p.m rumbo al Norte del Perú.

Algunos detalles:

Los productos a donar deben estar en buen estado para que alguien más lo pueda utilizar.

Todo lo que se vaya a donar debe estar dentro de una bolda o caja para que los conductores lo puedan aceptar.

El conductor llegará a la dirección de tu solicitud y tu deberás salir a entregar tu donación ya que no puede dejar el vehículo desatendido.

Those are some images about the situation right now, some highways have been blocked because of the landslides and more bridges are collapsing. That’s difficulting that help reaches provinces and cities that are the most affected. Rains are not stopping any time soon and now because of this change electric storms are happening. People in the affected areas are even blocking their doors with sand sacks to prevent water from flooding their homes. In Huarmey the river has overflowed and now people are in their roofs asking for help beacause there’s water everywhere. Situation is getting worse. There are no specific numbers but there are more than 62 thousand peruvians without a home and 62 deceased. Classes have been suspended in schools, institues and some universities. Water suply was cut in the capital yesterday and in provinces the situation has been like that for even longer. They have no water to bath, to cook and even worse to drink.  For everyone that wishes to help in this situation there is a gofundme page in which you can donate, here. Also the hashtag #PrayforPeru trended a few days ago please help us spread the information. Miraflores: Parque 7 de Junio, Casa del Adulto Mayor Armendáriz, Casa Adulto Mayor La Aurora. De 9 am a 5 pm. - Todas las tiendas de Passarela Perú están recibiendo donaciones en sus locales - La Municipalidad de Surco ha instalado carpas de Defensa Civil en la Plaza de Armas de Surco, Parque de la Amistad, parque Enrique Martinelli y parque ecológico Voces por el Clima. - Los canales América Televisión y Canal N tienen una carpa instalada junto a la puerta del canal, en jirón Montero Rosas 1099, Santa Beatriz.

60,000+ people were left homeless after one of the worst mudslides in history in Peru. These people are left without basic needs like fresh water, food, clothing, and a home :(. I think it’s important to not just spread the awareness, but also to educate ourselves.

Perú atraviesa la catástrofe climática más fuerte de los últimos tiempos. Lluvias torrenciales, avalanchas y ríos desbordados han dejado hasta ahora más de 70 muertos, decenas de desaparecidos y casi 60 mil damnificados en 24 regiones del país.

Desde el miércoles los aludes y desbordes de ríos de ‘El niño Costero’ azotan Lima, arrastrando personas, animales y viviendas.

El gobierno decretó inamovilidad para las fuerzas armadas y la policía, para que presten apoyo permanente a los sectores afectados . Las cifras arrojan 7.986 viviendas colapsadas, 1.231 kilómetros de carreteras destruidas, sin contar que también se han destruido puentes y tierras de cultivo.

El Perú necesita ayuda.

updates in peru: communications are bad at best even in the capital and obviously worst in the places were the avalanches had reached. if you have friends and family in chiclayo, trujillo, lima, cienegilla, chosica, punta hermosa and piura, please try to get communicate with your relatives over the internet. if you don’t reach them, keep calm, there is no human loss yet (a little girl apparently, but not confirmed).

PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. PLEASE HELP BY SPREADING AWARENESS. We are not Paris, we are not USA, or any county in Europe but WE NEED HELP. We never had disaster like this and we just really need at least to get media to see us.
