Thank you St Gertrude and St Francis for answering my prayers about my cat last night when no one could help me get him to an er.
Likes to send more prayers their way 🙏 and prove to my mother it is not his time to go home like she tried to say on the phone last night.

Today is not only St Patrick's Day; it is also the Feast Day of Gertrude of Nivelles, the seventh-century woman who was known for her hospitality. She is also considered to be the patron saint of cats.
Gertrude lived in what is today Belgium, but she had close ties with Irish monasteries. Her Vita states that Gertrude was "an intelligent young woman, scholarly and charitable, devoting herself to the sick, elderly, and poor," who memorized much of the Bible, as well as books on theology and law. She cared for orphans, widows, captives, and travelers—and welcomed cats into her home. She is also considered the patron saint of the recently deceased, those with mental illness...and anyone who has a morbid fear of mice!

All Souls' Day Novena: Day 4
Today I want to pray for the lovely Mrs. McGreal, my high school librarian. She was the first friend I made there, and we would talk often when I stayed late after school. I miss her dearly, but I feel like she's praying for me since I am at the same college she went to (what a coincidence!). Mrs. McGreal, you have a special place in my heart always. Do send me some book recommendations my way if you've got a minute.
"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners every where, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen."

Magnus Archives Relisten 12, MAG 12 First Aid
"American student agrees to visit UK demon hospital to beat medical bills. More at six."
Mag 12 analysis, spoilers ahead!
Facts: Statement of Lesere Saraki regarding a night shift at St. Thomas Hospital. Statement given February 11, 2012.
Statement Notes: Really great episode. There is so much built-in here that, to a new listener, doesn't make any sense, but drives a relistener listener crazy. It's an incredible balance of mystery and horror. Before you're aware of the metaplot, you can't understand this episode and are afraid like Saraki. But once you are aware of the metaplot, you understand how the events of this episode contribute to the rituals and Gertrude. Having finished the series, it's easy to view the central mysteries of the series being "What is Elias' goal?" or "What are the entities?", but fans often forget that the main question of the first two seasons is "How did Gertrude Robinson die?" This episode, though not holding many clues, reveals how Gerry did his work, contributing to that mystery. Events like this episode are likely what was important to Jon in season 2, not things that are important to him later like the Lightless Flame or Hilltop Road.
The video footage of everyone leaving the waiting room was very concerning to me. There are a lot of episodes in which the entities seem to manipulate the actions of people around their targets to insight more fear, or at least manipulate their target's perception of other people. However, this just seems like straight-up mind control. A mass manipulation of everyone in the hospital at once. As a show of power alone, this is very frightening. The lack of an explanation is also very concerning. Jon doesn't even attempt to brush off this case as mass hysteria or drug use. I can't explain what made these people behave like that, and clearly, he can't either.
Entity Alignment: This is a very strong Desolation episode. The imagery is so incredibly descriptive. Everything from the warped door handles to the exploding soda bottles to the boiling saline solution is so vivid. The image that particularly stuck with me is Saraki examining Gerry's wounds (side note, it's very sweet to me that she felt so bad about ruining his new leather jacket). She doesn't go particularly in-depth, but the thought of perfectly pristine clothing covering utterly burned skin really emphasizes the violent nature of the Desolation. It burns and destroys, but only targets things it can cause fear and pain.
There's also a ton of Eye mentions in this episode. When Gerry is "praying" over the other victim (don't even get me started on the religious associations people make with the horrors), Saraki steps aside to let him work and watch. Gerry tells her "For you, better beholding than the lightless flame.” This insinuates that, with the prayer he is using to kill the other burn victim (presumably a Lightless Flame member), he is calling on the Desolation. It's a bit surprising that someone deeply affiliated with the Eye can call on another entity. However, we have to remember that technically the entities are all a part of one larger eldritch being, that we as humans simply cannot comprehend the scope of. This means that any avatar can work with or call on any entity, though it is likely easier for someone like Gerry, who is more aware that the Entity is a nuanced being and understands it academically, than it would be for someone like Jared Hopworth or Mike Crew, who are deeply entrenched in the specific aspects of the Entity.
In this vein, Gerry's tattoos not burning demonstrates his connection to the Eye and possible avatar powers. There's evidence in the show that different entities cannot hurt each other directly, but need particular circumstances to do so. For example, Jared Hopworth can take Jon's ribs when he consents, but cannot kill Melanie while she is associated with the Slaughter, and can be captured by Helen, who cannot be killed by Melanie. There is certainly some dream-logic, rock-paper-scissor-style power ranking of avatars. But this episode seems to prove that although Gerry can be harmed by the Desolation, the Eye will still protect him to a certain extent. This also helps with my issue with MAG 4 regarding Gerry's Eye art and tattoos.
While I do believe on a practical level there are differing levels of protection and power for the avatars based on their affiliation, commitment, and abilities, I would also like to return to the single eldritch Entity. Since the entity is one thing, it makes sense that it would hurt its avatars, but not itself. This would mean that Gerry is so deeply connected to the Eye (or at least the arcana of his tattoos is) that the entity will not hurt him because it considers him a part of itself. This is further proven in season 5, as Jon can essentially kill any avatar or person he chooses, but is untouchable to others because of the Eye's protection. The Entity has the ability to make its avatars a part of itself, and refuses to hurt them because it would only cause it more harm.
More specific to the episode, Gerard attempts to associate Saraki with the Eye. This seems fair, as Saraki only watches what Gerry does and does not interfere, merely observing the horror of another. The Eye/Elias is also clearly observing her as an Eye flashes on the CCTV screen and she reports feeling watched later. But again, genre awareness is very important in this series. The goal of the entities is to make people afraid, so those who choose to move on or take practical actions are less likely to remain targets. Saraki plays the game, she goes along with Gerard, muscles through the horrors, and moves on. She never has a paranormal occurrence again.
Character Notes: Sasha is just so incredible with computers. I wish we could see her in TMAGP universe where tech skill are actually useful. I think the key difference between Archivist!Sasha and Archivist!Jon is that, while Jon has an insatiable desire to obtain knowledge he cannot always feed, Sasha has a great ability to obtain knowledge but a duller and more practical drive. This could be part of the reason Elias chooses Jon over her, because his desire would push him to go further, while his information gaps would cause him more anxiety and fear.
Also, I know Martin very well could have googled the Polish phrase or just know a little bit and this is part of his CV lies, but can you imagine a Polish-speaking Martin? Just live in that world for a second.
Still, since Martin canonically lied about speaking Latin and it is likely he speaks little-to-no Polish, the fact that he would research and/or share this phrase with Jon seems to be another lie to get people to like him. While it don't think his lies/manipulations are as malicious as Annabelle makes them seem in season 5, they are definitely present.

EVEN MORE Headcanons for Dean Winchester that are true cause I say so;
- he doesn’t actually understand how to make small talk; he’s really blunt naturally, so people think he’s just a guy who gets to the point. But he genuinely doesn’t understand small talk, he isnt really sure why people don’t just say what they wanna say right away. (“What does the weather have to do with anything sam?!!??”) he just feels passive aggressive when he does it to other people, and super uncomfortable when people do it to him.
- he HATES the color purple. It’s almost obsessive how much he hates the color. Like it’s somehow personally wronged him. He can’t explain this hatred either it just….. is.
- he acts like he’s so cool; but he’s the biggest sci - fi movie and tv buff you’ve ever seen. He quotes Star Trek constantly, but he does it so casually and fits it into conversations so well, no one even notices. (Sometimes he kinda hopes someone recognizes it, he’d love to rant about his fav episode, “the naked now,” for a few hours)
- he doesn’t pray, and he really doesn’t believe in the afterlife; BUT, weirdly enough every night he says St. Gertrude’s prayer at least twice. He does it mechanically at this point, but it started when he was a kid after his dad told him it let souls out of purgatory. He murmurs it to himself as he’s getting ready for bed.
- he lowkey got super scared of the movie Coraline when it first came out, he went into it thinking it would be an easy watch, and left feeling a lil queasy. (He hated watching Coraline having to battle the other mother, and the fact that she reminded him of a younger version of himself DID NOT make it easier)
- Dean is the worlds worst cook, he’s poisoned his brother and father like 6 times, once Sam had to get his stomach pumped. (“It didn’t look expired sam, get over it.”) nothing he makes is even REMOTELY edible, and is usually a step away from some sort of neurotoxin outlawed in the Geneva convention.
- he’s an amazing gift giver…. When he remembers to get a gift. He’s no good with dates, but he remembered the time you were at the mall together 7 months ago and u pointed at a pair of boots as u were walking past, he also remembered that u like white chocolate, but specifically the Lindt kind with the milk chocolate in the center. So yeah, ur gift is delivered 2 weeks AFTER ur bday, but it’s probs the most thoughtful gift you’ll ever receive.
- Dean has gone to Starbucks and ordered like 16 shots of expresso into a cup plus an energy shot, he only managed to get down half in one sitting, and was throwing up for like 3 hours afterwards. (Sam finished the second half of the drink and now that’s his new coffee order, the man went to law school, caffeine is his thing fs)

“My love urges Me to release the poor souls. If a beneficent king leaves his guilty friend in prison for justice’s sake, he awaits with longing for one of his nobles to plead for the prisoner and to offer something for his release. Then the king joyfully sets him free. Similarly, I accept with highest pleasure what is offered to Me for the poor souls, for I long inexpressibly to have near Me those for whom I paid so great a price. By the prayers of thy loving soul, I am induced to free a prisoner from purgatory as often as thou dost move thy tongue to utter a word of prayer!”

SAINT OF THE DAY (November 17)
Tumblr media
On November 17, the Catholic Church celebrates the life and example of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, a medieval noblewoman who responded to personal tragedy by embracing St. Francis' ideals of poverty and service.
A patron of secular Franciscans, she is especially beloved to Germans as well as the faithful of her native Hungary.
Elizabeth of Hungary, also known as Elisabeth of Thuringia, was a princess of the Kingdom of Hungary and the landgravine of Thuringia.
As the daughter of the Hungarian King Andrew II, Elizabeth had the responsibilities of royalty thrust upon her almost as soon as her short life began on 7 July 1207.
While she was still very young, Elizabeth's father arranged for her to be married to a German nobleman, Ludwig of Thuringia.
The plan forced Elizabeth to separate from her parents while still a child.
Adding to this sorrow was the murder of Elizabeth's mother Gertrude in 1213, which history ascribes to a conflict between her own German people and the Hungarian nobles.
Elizabeth took a solemn view of life and death from that point on, and found consolation in prayer. Both tendencies drew some ire from her royal peers.
For a time, beginning in 1221, she was happily married.
Ludwig, who had advanced to become one of the rulers of Thuringia, supported Elizabeth's efforts to live out the principles of the Gospel even within the royal court.
She met with friars of the nascent Franciscan Order during its founder's own lifetime, resolving to use her position as queen to advance their mission of charity.
Remarkably, Ludwig agreed with his wife's resolution, and the politically powerful couple embraced a life of remarkable generosity toward the poor.
They had three children, two of whom went on to live as as members of the nobility, although one of them – her only son – died relatively young.
The third eventually entered religious life and became abbess of a German convent.
In 1226, while Ludwig was attending to political affairs in Italy, Elizabeth took charge of distributing aid to victims of disease and flooding that struck Thuringia.
She took charge of caring for the afflicted, even when this required giving up the royal family's own clothes and goods.
Elizabeth arranged for a hospital to be built and is said to have provided for the needs of nearly a thousand desperately poor people on a daily basis.
The next year, however, would put Elizabeth's faith to the test.
Her husband had promised to assist the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II in the Sixth Crusade, but he died of illness en route to Jerusalem.
Devastated by Ludwig's death, Elizabeth vowed never to remarry. Her children were sent away, and relatives heavily pressured her to break the vow.
Undeterred, Elizabeth used her remaining money to build another hospital, where she personally attended to the sick almost constantly.
Sending away her servants, she joined the Third Order of St. Francis, seeking to emulate the example of its founder as closely as her responsibilities would allow.
Near the end of her life, she lived in a small hut and spun her own clothes.
Working continually with the severely ill, Elizabeth became sick herself, dying of an illness on 17 November 1231 at the age of 24.
After she died, miraculous healings soon began to occur at her grave near the hospital.
She was canonized by Pope Gregory IX on 24 May 1235.
Pope Benedict XVI has praised her as a “model for those in authority,” noting the continuity between her personal love for God and her public work on behalf of the poor and sick.

Hi! Its Cecilia here, hope you're well! So weird thing happened during the Mass I went to tonight. It was the Sacred Heart mass tonight, and as I was in the choir loft kneeling during the Transsubstanciation (can't spell) I was prompted by a little voice inside myself that said since I care for the souls of the dead so much I should make a litany for the dead. I agreed to give it a try, feeling that similar tug that I feel when I think about religious life. However, I haven't the slightest clue how to create a litany, do you know about litanies or resources or should I just keep trying on my own to make something? A little confused but I want to do what God would ask of me. Hugs from where I'm at and happy month of the Sacred Heart! ❤️
Good Evening Cecilia!,
I am going well, thank you! It’s always good to hear from you.
Wow!! That’s amazing. You know I really think Jesus was speaking to your heart. That’s a powerful devotion if we can find it, because Purgatory is real. (If you want an excellent Catholic course on Purgatory here you go.) Let me see what I can find specifically for praying to the dead. I don’t know if you knew this already or not but praying for the dead is actually one of the works of spiritual works mercy in our faith AND souls in Purgatory cannot pray for themselves they rely on us to pray for them.
Tumblr media
Now then…here some inspiration. I suggest buying a journal and writing these prayers down. First I’ll provide you with some prayers I know.
There is a prayer made by St. Gertrude according to tradition which can greatly ease the sufferings of souls in Purgatory.
Prayer of St. Gertrude
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
Prayer for the Deceased:
Remember, Lord, those who have died and gone before us marked with the sign of faith, especially those for whom we now pray. May these and all who sleep in Christ find in your presence light, happiness and peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for the Poor Souls in Purgatory:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon them. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Fatima Prayer:
(you can say this by itself and part of your Rosary)
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy.
Anima Christi by St. Ignatius of Loyola:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds hide me. Separated from Thee let me never be. From the malignant enemy, defend me. At the hour of death, call me. And close to Thee bid me. That with Thy saints I may be Praising Thee, forever and ever. Amen.
Prayer of Sr Maria Consolata Betrone, a Poor Clare Capuchin:
(She is amazing. Read more here.)
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you please save souls!
Divine Mercy Chaplet:
(This can be prayed for the living, those about to die, and of course, ones in Purgatory…many miracles have happened through this Chaplet. Download the Relevant Radio app to hear livestreams and so much more.)
Tumblr media
These Marian priests livestream the Chaplet daily. It’s how I learned it.
And nowww
Tumblr media
Yes a Litany DOES exist!!!
I read this exact copy.
If you can’t afford to buy it now click here to read it.
…….
Lastly, yes you can also make your prayer too. I would first do as Jesus said. Go to your room to pray in secret. Make time for it. I would open a new page of your journal and pray to God about this. Ask Jesus to have the Holy Spirit give you inspiration to make a new prayer. Write down what you hear the Holy Spirit speaks in the silence of your heart. And yes it’s totally ok to borrow from other prayers to add to your own. I’m sure Jesus will love it. As you make it, share it with Jesus.
If you feel comfortable enough in the future, share it with others. We can save many souls.
What a wonderful thing! May God bless you.

All Souls' Day Novena: Day 9
"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners every where, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen."
St. Gertrude, Pray for us!
Today, to end on a happy note, I'd like to tell the story of my great grandmother, Teta Besma.
Teta Besma died when I was 11, and I don't have many memories of her. About ten years later, one of her granddaughters had a dream about her. My cousin was in a building filled with gray, rotting people. There was a staircase with a door at the top, and she climbed it, knocked on the door, and there was Teta Besma folding laundry, just as my cousin remembered her. She had a whole body and was not rotting like the others.
She let my cousin in and locked the door behind her. My cousin hugged her and was so happy to see her. She asked for food, but Teta said, "No, we don't eat here. We only pray." They prayed together for a short while, and my cousin said she had to leave. My grandmother wished her well, said goodbye, and locked the door behind her.
My cousin woke up and thought nothing of the dream, because who doesn't have dreams where they see loved ones? The next day her friend told her, though, that she had a dream where she saw my Teta at the top of a staircase, folding laundry. This friend described a scene so similar that my cousin couldn't deny that there was something going on. She spoke with a priest about her dream, who suggested humbly that perhaps this was a sign that my Teta was either close to leaving Purgatory or was already out.
All this to say: your prayers work. Your prayers matter. There is a way out of Purgatory, both for you and your loved ones. Keep praying for them and they will pray for you in love and gratitude once they reach Heaven. Heaven is real, and God wants all of us there together.
That's the end of another novena friends! Thank you for praying with me.
