An Incomplete Analysis of the Sukunadome
I stress the point that this is an inherently incomplete analysis. It's getting late, I'm tired and unhappy, and… well, the fight isn't over yet, so there's no way this analysis could be complete even if I felt like it. However, it's on my mind, and I feel the need to start exerting myself more on these things. Sometimes sweat is the better medicine. I know this is a long one and doesn’t have any pictures, but if we all support each other, we’ll get through it together.
Full disclosure, I wish more people had gotten filtered by this fight and just stopped talking about Jujutsu Kaisen by now. Like yeah, I think it's great different people see things in different ways, but let's all be honest with ourselves here, most of the people criticizing this fight are not doing so with any sort of literary or artistic perspective or good faith. Most of it is Gojo fans who are still crying, seething, vomiting, pissing, and shitting over the fact that the character they attached their ego to didn't win Jujutsu Kaisen like they wanted. If this describes you, well, this post will probably do you some good, but I'm confident nobody who takes the stance that Gojo should have won would have the space in their mind for what I'm about to say about Sukunadome.
Because that's what I'm calling it. "The Sukuna Cycle" was maybe a little funny for a week or two, but like most memes about this series, it wasn't really based on the story so much as it was on an agenda. Kusakabe was part of the fight since Yuji and Higuruma entered, and up until Miguel, we knew all the combatants who would be tagging in were there. We knew Yuta was off dealing with Kenjaku and would return, we knew Maki was in play, and there really weren't a lot of switches. Just Choso leaving and coming back, Ui Ui retrieving Higuruma's and Gojo's corpses, and… you know, actually, I think that's it. Sure isn't as much as the "Sukuna Cycle" memes made it out to be, huh?
Okay, if you haven't noticed yet, I'm a big JJK fan and a big JJK fandom hater. I think JJK has the worst Western internet fanbase I've seen in a long time, with only a few oases scattered across the internet where you can find intelligent life. Like it's insane what kind of bullshit a person can convince themselves of.
However, I'm not analyzing JJK's fanbase, I'm analyzing JJK. Someday we'll litigate whether or not Lobotomy Kaisen was really funny enough to justify how badly it ruined this fanbase's ability to objectively, productively engage with with one of the most competently written and culturally impactful manga to come out this century. Today is not that day.
So Sukuna's got four arms and knows how to use them. He's got four eyes and so much sass one mouth wasn't enough for the amount of trash he's got to talk to the youths of today. Just on a basic level, having four arms would be such an insignificant power in any other Shonen as to almost be a joke. Yet with how jujutsu sorcery functions as a power system and how adept Sukuna is at using every possible advantage at his disposal - even going so far as to take what probably should be disadvantages and twist them to work for him - having the ability to make hand seals while fighting hand-to-hand, and being able to chant without interrupting his breathing, are inseparable from Sukuna's godlike fighting ability. I love how something seemingly so mundane is such a huge x factor for Sukuna.
We continually see how Sukuna is a complex, but fundamentally vile antagonist. He has a very rich, detailed view of the world, but one that fundamentally reduces every other human being to be his playthings and food. It's just that Sukuna says, "Don't like it? Then get stronger." It's a very Social Darwinist, late stage capitalist view to be coming from the Heian Era, and I think that maybe it's intentional. Shitty people are shitty in mostly the same ways, it's just they find new things to be shitty about or to use to be shitty with.
Like if that were all it is, it'd make Sukuna so effective as a villain to hate and would slot so nicely into Jujutsu Kaisen's overarching social and political commentary. Cruelty within suffering, selfishness as a strength and a weakness, the unfairness of how the strength to pursue one's agency is unevenly distributed and how the haves don’t realize how easily they could have instead been have-nots, it's all there.
But there’s this inherent charisma to Sukuna that I think is intentional. He has this noblesse oblige where he’s so inherently aware of his greatness that he doesn’t have a problem with giving credit where credit is due. Like he talks all the trash when he’s fighting Jogo, but where Gojo’s insults come across as puerile and blunt, Sukuna’s always displaying this wit to him. And when the battle’s over, he acknowledges that even though Jogo wasn’t as strong as him, he was stronger than most and could have gone even further if he hadn’t held himself back. He starts off belittling Gojo in their fight, but by the end, he expresses a profound respect and gratitude towards Gojo. Like it’s a very warped form of those sentiments, but I think it’s sincere. Even with Ishigori, when Sukuna fails to cut him the first time, he just acknowledges it was disrespectful to hold back and that he’ll give it full force the next strike.
Something to keep in mind is that everything Megumi warned Yuji about when it comes to ancient sorcerers applies to Sukuna as well. They’re not treated as uniformly, unambiguously evil anymore than anyone else in JJK is, and are acknowledged as having fundamentally different world views about violence and the value of human life. Kashimo, for instance, seems to value his life only because he’s able to risk his life and lay it on the line. They’re people from an era where children died so young that parents often gave them numbered names so as to not get too attached until they’d see if their kids actually were going to make it or not. If you didn’t give your whole life over to a goal, you probably wouldn’t achieve it. Whereas modern sorcerers, modern people, have all these complex and sometimes contradictory views and needs, ancient sorcerers show a tendency to shave everything away except their one singular conviction because that was what you had to do in an era of much shorter life expectancies and peril on all sides. You’d be very lucky to accomplish one life goal, let alone as many as people of today set out to achieve: graduating high school, graduating college, getting a job, starting a family, and hopefully having one or two passions on the side. Fundamentally different worldviews from fundamentally different periods of history.
And Sukuna is no different. His goal is simple: partake in the many colors and flavors of humanity through mortal combat in the arena of sorcery. Sukuna’s love for sorcery runs deep. He’s always curious about different cursed techniques, even ones that are pedestrian to a sorcerer of his level, like Nanako’s smartphone-based technique. He reminds me of a quote from Baki: “Someone who works hard can never beat someone who enjoys himself.” Sukuna has clearly put forth great effort to master sorcery, but clearly doesn’t see it as work. He sees it as just doing what he enjoys and is good at.
Unfortunately for everyone else, he enjoys killing and is extremely good at it. Sukuna is the ultimate ethical heat death of the “live for yourself, cherish your own agency, don’t let yourself be controlled” mindset that is the ideological starting point of JJK. It’s a very dark, extreme interpretation of Buddhist non-attachment, where even compassion is an attachment to ultimately shed. Sukuna lives perfectly freely, including being free from guilt or compassion.
Naturally, there’s an exception. All things seem to have exceptions. In Sukuna’s case, that would be Uraume. I’ve been fascinated by their dynamic since we first learned of Uraume’s allegiance to Sukuna during Shibuya and I still can’t wait to know more. Suffice to say, Sukuna dotes on Uraume, forgiving their mistakes and seeming to enjoy their company not just because of their service to him, but because their existence makes him happy. I’m reminded of Power in Chainsaw Man, how she was seemingly incapable of empathy or mercy until she met Meowy.
Honestly, Sukuna reminds me a lot of a lot of characters in Chainsaw Man. People who are trying to climb from this state of misery, of struggling just to meet basic desires, and learning to be human. Yet Sukuna is so strong he never needed to learn to be human. He never needed to cooperate with others to survive — or at least, doesn’t seem to believe he did — and so he never saw the value in it. And so he’s basically brute forced his way around having to undergo an arc like Denji’s, and has instead ended up a hedonistic black hole devising all these complicated philosophical arguments to justify what is, really, a very simplistic, predatory desire to only satisfy his basic material wants and creative interests and nothing else for anyone else.
But like, it’s not that simple. If you give to others, you get something immaterial in return. I can’t quantity it or define it, but I’m sure most of you know what I mean. The happiness that comes from taking care of others’ needs, and the deeper levels beyond that happiness. Like I do believe that’s the subtext behind Binding Vows as metaphor: that you almost never give without getting in return. You might not get the same thing back, in the same form, but being changed by the act of putting the needs and wants of others before your own even temporarily still is part of the exchange. It’s part of becoming complete as a human being.
Sukuna has defied that exchange and broken the cycle, and I don’t think it’s inherently for his own benefit. There are some thing about being human that you don’t just get to opt out of, no matter how much you claim you’re more than or less than human. Even if Sukuna doesn’t think he’s lost something of value, he has. And that something of value is inherent to the whole point of this final battle.
Jujutsu Kaisen is basically working on two big problems. There are lots of ideas at play in the series, but there are two fundamental problems for which every fiight, every character arc, every turn of the gears consitutes part of the calculus to solve one or both of those problems.
The first problem, a thematic and philosophical one: “How do you love and fight for something when you know you’re going to die?”
The second problem, a metatextual one: “Is there any artistic and social value left in the Shonen formula as it stands in the modern day?”
And this fight is, ultimately, where GeGe is showing their work. It’s where Yuji has to defeat Sukuna, if not in terms of out-boxing him, then in terms of prevailing over his beliefs about humanity and the world as a whole.
GeGe has stripped Yuji of everything that is supposed to determine the worth of a Shonen protagonist’s victory. He’s not fighting alone, he didn’t go off and train all by himself, he trained with a lot of powerful, smart people who helped him. And Yuji is arguably not even the most important participant in the fight. So why should we care if Yuji wins?
The answer is so simple it’s easy to lose track of it. Yuji is risking his life to rescue someone, his friend, from being exploited, and to save the people of Japan from being exploited. Even after everything that’s happened, Yuji plants his fucking feet and takes a stance that no, shithead, there is such a thing as the right thing. Maybe it isn’t obvious all the time, and it sure as hell isn’t always easy to know what it is, but he knows now with certainty what it isn’t: to exploit others or to destroy yourself. We can find our answers somewhere in-between.
Sometimes we can’t resolve our problems with a tidy solution that makes everyone happy and sometimes we have to carve a piece of ourselves out and give to something we won’t be sure to see the fruition of, but that’s just life. It doesn’t mean we have to throw away all hope for things to get better. Even if the world won’t become utopian, it can still become better, no matter how many nihilists hide their own inequities behind assertions that there is no point.
Nihilism is not a solution to the problems of life, it is the choice to run away and hide. To give into nihilism is to give up the fight even while other people are still fighting all around you.
So that’s the fucking point of the Sukunadome. Nobara already said it better than anyone else has before she made Mahito look like the bitch he was and always will be: “Sometimes you need to fight even when you know you can’t win.” Because you won’t always win and you won’t escape death, nor will you know what lies beyond death. However, you can still live according to your principles and fight for the things you see as meaningful even if other people don’t.
That is why so many characters have come and gone from the fight. All gave some, some gave all. Nobody is truly useless — even if Miwa self-deprecatingly jokes about being useless, she still was the one thing standing between Maki and Malevolent Shrine’s eviscerating hellscape. Even Amai’s sweets-conjuring joke technique saved Hana from a would-be fatal fall and helped to supply sugar to the brains of people using reverse cursed technique in Shoko’s triage. Larue couldn’t do much, but they caught Sukuna’s eye at the perfect time for Yuji to land a Black Flash, and that means something. It all means something.
Given how deeply GeGe clearly respects Hunter X Hunter, I want to end off by citing one of the quotes in Hunter X Hunter that has been the most impactful for me and I suspect has been about as impactful on GeGe: “It seems small things… infinitesimally small things… are needed to build the entire universe. The size of a thing has nothing to do with its power.” We always seem to direct our senses to the superlatives. The largest, the oldest, the loudest, the things that hit the hardest. But while it would be wrong to throw those out, we often lose sight of how many little, important things there are in the midst of those huge, important things.
Seeing someone’s smile when you remembered something they said that showed you were listening to them. The feeling of a warm breeze on a summer morning. The smell of honeysuckle on your walk home. Waking up to rain on a Sunday. The taste of watermelon. Getting married. Having your heart broken. Songs that make you smile, songs that make you cry — songs that do both, and songs that make you feel things you can’t describe. When you’re always looking to those immense, monolithic things, always comparing your seemingly small, seemingley meaningless life to them, you lose sight of just how meaningful all of it is.
Just because it doesn’t have cosmic, absolute meaning doesn’t make it meaningless. Every little thing that means something to you is worthy of being cherished. The people around you, the things that bring you happiness, even if that happiness is going to ebb and flow. It’s all worth fighting for and living for. It just takes bravery and conviction to keep fighting and keep living with authenticity and love. And if there’s an artistic value, a greater meaning to Shonen, now and always, it’s the unerring, unabashed belief that there’s a reason to aim high and not give up.
Because sometimes, life hurts. But if it’s just pain, Yuji Itadori will never stop. We’ll see what I have to amend, reconsider, or elaborate on when the fight is finished. I hope this gave some of you a new way to look at it.

now that i've read the chapter instead of just absorbing it through leaks....gojo's death painted as underwhelming and unsatisfying makes a lot of sense. it was supposed to be that way. he died with regrets just like everyone else. he didn't die all alone, despite what he told megumi. he chased his dream and fell short. throughout the story, he couldn't seem to find the right balance between selfishness and selflessness, which is why he loses himself while fighting (he even admitted this in today's chapter). which is why megumi isn't a priority while he's fighting sukuna. that's kind of why he broke so easily - where he's been trying to strike a balance between those two labels, his opponents have mostly embraced selfishness and become all the more definite in their identities. gojo never gave himself an identity other than being "the strongest", but even he couldn't figure out what that meant - that's part of his tragedy. yeah he's the strongest, but does that mean for himself or for others? what he does know is that for the most part, he can't control what happens to him. so he kind of loses himself in that uncertainty sometimes and goes crazy. ppl sometimes ignore this and turn to the misconception that just because he has noble ideals, gojo must be a hero but he's not. his entire character is tragic and unsatisfied, and his death resembles that as well.
#this is such an adhd coded post I'm so sorry the thoughts are really spilling T-T#pray for me to actually be coherent for once. but anyway this is something that's stuck out to me a lot#bc a lot of the fandom is pretty angry but like. this should've been expected??#a character as tragic as gojo isn't gonna live a long and happy life you guys.#its sad yeah (says this like she wasn't in a state of shock for two hours) but it was coming. This is a postscript to my exchange with frost-felon. You can read that here but it's a long and unpleasant read. It sometimes takes me while to truly understand why I feel the need to engage such people. Like it's always something to do with my principles and I mentioned that in my last reply in that exchange. But it's sometimes more than one thing at the same time. I wrote that, I slept on it and this bit still clogged my thoughts.
"You then told me that you understood where I was coming from, but thought it necessary to talk down to me about how you thought my approach wouldn't achieve my goals. That was completely unnecessary."
Why didn't I touch this in my other post? Like I felt there was something here. I reread my post from yesterday to see if I perhaps didn't forget to paste this somewhere but it didn't fit anywhere. And then I noticed how gross my wording got at times. And it clicked. Why do they even have an analytical framework to begin with?
My main conclusion after analysing some of their texts is that they are trying to create a distorted image of what those texts are. Namely they are trying to give them a veneer of academic writing to imbue them with extra authority. When they are just presenting their casual opinions, some better some worse argued and evidenced by the text of the JJK manga.
I will not say that fandom wank or fandom meta has never reached rigour of academic discourse, I mean we’re all wilding out here, some of us are surely like that. But generally the wank level is not that.
And that's fine btw, fandom is a hobby, not a job. Academia is a job. (Unless you’re an academic researching fandom.) As long as we’re all honest about what we’re doing.
Why do I have this rather uncharitable opinion of this person?
In their posts they constantly refer to some deep analyses they are working on, to researching things, to in-depth work with the text they are performing and planning. They expect citations. They use footnotes. They use words like “scope”. But most importantly they have a framework which they love to explain and refer to.
An analytical framework is very academia coded, you don’t really do that casually.
So far so good, right, maybe they are actually doing something academic.
Nah.
They spiralled the moment their framework was questioned, and in academia the first thing you need to be able to do is defend your framework.
In my first reply I challenged it in a very weak way, too. One that is very easy to throw back at the challenger. Not my best work.
“As per what you consider manga canon, it's your choice to treat an unfinished work like that. A choice that I personally, as an author of yet unfinished and serialised works, find kinda cruel. But I understand where it comes from, even if I don’t think an approach like that achieves your goal of analysing Gege, or any other author, as a storyteller.”
I spoke very casually, clearly showed that my criticism has an emotional component and I gave no true explanation to either of the claims I made, namely:
1. That the framework is kinda cruel.
2. That it’s ineffective for their stated goals.
The most effective way to challenge claim one is to ask why. The statement has no grounds provided, so making its author clarify it actually forces them to defend it, they have to do the work. And once it’s less general and has arguments behind it, you can attack the arguments. Which is much easier than contending with an adjective.
The second one can also be dealt with the same way. But in the case of a framework it’s not the best course of action.
The best one is to present your reasoning for your framework.
The point of the framework, in simplistic and reductive terms, is to have the best suited tool to achieve your analytical goal and to be able to define the scope of your inquiry. And also to be aware of the limitations of your approach.
That's why I suspect that in this person's case, the academic trappings are just that, theatre.
They reacted to me challenging their framework with: “that’s so rude of you, you hurt my feelings”. When a framework challenge should always be met with: “Bestie, don't even try, I have this rock solid reasoning behind it.”
As far along as they seem to be in their primary reading of the text, they should have the justification of their framework nailed down, they should be able copy paste it or link it with the addition of the gif of the dick Gojou drew.
Instead, apart from clutching their pearls, they explain their framework through their analysis goals, namely:
“I'm sorry, but I do not take anime material into account when describing how Gege writes these characters, since I can't cleanly divide what Gege had full control over (if anything)³, and given that the anime itself could be considered something of a do-over for the manga, for better and for worse. I'm down to discuss the anime, but for these posts going over my thoughts on Gege as a storyteller, I'm more interested in looking at how the manga chapters were handled.” “Yes, I am choosing to analyze JJK's effectiveness as a story by what is in the story. ”
Which is putting the horse before the cart. “How” does not prove the effectiveness of the method. It needs to be “how” and “why” together - in what way doing the analysis like this allows you to reach your goal.
So let’s try to string something together based on my recent exchange with them. Maybe like this:
Definition of the text first:
I define the text as the unfinished and ongoing manga Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami as translated by (translator or translators) and available here (link). I chose this translation as the primary version of the text for my analysis after thorough research into the translational landscape surrounding the manga. My methodology was as follows: I put “jjk manga” into the search engine and clicked the first few links to find the website that worked best. This methodology was slightly revised close to the end of the manga, when I chose to consult other translations (link), (link) to see how they handled 2 specific chapters.
(I have no clue which translation they are using, or how they found it, obviously. They weren’t kind enough to bring it up.)
I’m using the literary theory definition of text / literary criticism (full definition maybe with source) to analyse the text because I think that a text placed within these constraints is the version of the text that the author had full control over. I define “full control” as what the author could do under time and contractual pressure, with very hard to establish editorial input from Shounen Jump (both in terms of volume and quality), and with the constant mental pressure of presenting unfinished work to a modern audience that will turn to social media to voice all of their opinions and is not above death threats, while not knowing how long the story would end up to be or whether it’d even get the chance to reach any conclusion as it could’ve been cancelled at any time before it had gained some popularity. I think that excluding all editorial input by the author into the work, including but not limited to (...), post the initial publication of each chapter in the Japanese version of Shounen Jump and cognisant of the conditions under which they were created, really reflects Gege Akutami’s full skill as a storyteller. It also further bolsters my conviction that I’m working with a text that the author has full control over, especially that the author is incapable of, and likely never will be capable of leveraging the knowledge of a full finished story to edit it without the scrutiny of the public or presenting it to the public after going through the full process of finishing it and editing it after that.
Yeah, I know, I can’t imitate academic language to save my life. But I think I got the “how” and “why” bits right.
Wait I forgot about the limitations:
I don’t see any limitations to this method.
Okay, I had my fun. But the sad truth is that this is the image of their framework that can be gleaned from my exchange with them.
This leads me to believe that they don’t know what an analytical framework is for. This and the fact that they never used terms like “literary criticism” or “literary theory” in the exchange with me when that’s where their methods come from. Or that they use “story” instead of “text”. Or that they weren’t expecting challenges to their framework, just to their opinions. That they interpreted a criticism of their framework as a personal attack.
But if you’re dealing with something that has a weak framework it’s the first thing you challenge. It’s fair game in academic discourse. (It’s also pretty good when discussing political issues, for example forcing someone to explain how their ideology would achieve their declared goals, etc.)
That’s why putting on academic airs is a bad idea if you don’t have the solid foundations for it. I would never try it. I have no patience for the rigour that it would require of me. I actually tried to properly write the pseudo academic bits here and I just gave up because it’s really hard to do. Also in reality the methodology would be far more detailed, a few pages long at least.
In the context of fandom putting on such airs feels deceptive. Fandom is full of all sorts of people, including people who haven’t had the opportunity to or chose not to experience academia. Or whose educational journey didn’t put them anywhere near academic text analysis. Using the trappings of academia may mislead them to give the author of the text too much credence.
I don’t like people who do that.
That being said I don’t think frost-felon should stop what they are doing. I find projects like theirs beautiful in theory.
But I think they should either lose the academic veneer or embrace it in earnest.
Whichever way they will go, one of the two I proposed or continue as they are, I think they should really ask themself what purpose does their method serve because I think there’s no way to defend its usefulness for their stated goals.

Ahaha
I honestly feel like ditching the jjk fandom and the series altogether.
There’s literally no way I can go about enjoying content such as art, music, extras without a fucktard being somewhere around the top comments talking excuse me I meant to say, explaining in fucking painful detail about how this portrays character a’s death or how that is a foreshadowing of how *insert entire scene reiteration* will progress.
You fuckers are insufferable… 😒😕

Hey you!! I am still a bit quite new to the jjk fandom and everything going around but i am reading tons of things and your page became my fave in like a blink of an eye, no joke!!! Like i swear everything you write with Gojo goes through my soul and beyond🔥💕 i was thinking if you would maybe sometime take on the idea of how would Gojo react if his wife/gf is pregnant and him the protective dude he is, looses his shit when she gets hurt (either random or an a mission)?and taking care of her after.
Also i hope you are well and send you all the hugs and love i can give from where I am💜💜💜
࿐ ࿔ before the dawn
tw: pregnancy, mentions of blood, satosugu angst, hurt/comfort. goes through your soul and beyond? omg that’s the highest praise🤧 oh and hurt/comfort is actually my roman empire! to fit in love entries, i have to put it in the jjk0 timeline... and also sending love for you too nonnie!! this is so sweet aww thank you🫶🏻✨
a part of gojo's love entries
“…geto suguru is going to unleash curses in tokyo and kyoto.”
you stood still, suddenly feeling like your world had crashed. you blinked at what ichiji had just said after stuttering many times. “huh? geto… suguru?”
you just had your prenatal checkup with shoko, and you had suspected something serious had been going on by the grim way she looked and how she tried to evade your questions. satoru too had been kind of busy these past few days, and he was sorry to leave you more often because of “a business he had to take care of.”
so this was the business.
“how? why?” you asked ichiji with widened eyes, the horror dawning on you surely and fast. “how is he—doesn’t that mean… he’s— he’s going to be hunted down?”
that was a stupid question. suguru had been a criminal for ten years, of course they were going to catch him. it shouldn’t be new, you knew it. but this was an act of terrorism. this was the gravest and he could—suguru could…
three years of your and satoru’s youth flashed in your mind. the laughs. the memories. how? why must everything escalate this way?
“they’re g-going to… eliminate him.” ichiji looked down with regret, swallowing hard as he told you this. “gojo-san… he’s going to participate in the battle too.”
hearing that, suddenly you felt sick to your stomach. another reality crashed: satoru could end up murdering his best friend.
almost immediately, your womb clenched and throbbed with such intensity that your breath hitched, and you lurched forward, gripping onto ichiji’s arm tightly—
“ahh!” a scream tore its way out of your throat as you crumbled to the ground. the vice-like gripping pressure that assailed you sent waves of pain coursing through your belly and there was something wet and scarlet trickling down your legs.
blood. you wheezed, whimpered and your voice came out in panicked gasps. “b-baby… my baby—!”
“i will get you to ieiri-san!” ichiji immediately carried you back to shoko’s infirmary, trying not to turn into a blubbering mess. your anguished cries resonated through the quiet hall as you held onto your spasming abdomen, and ichiji could only pray with all his heart that you would be okay… or else gojo would definitely have his head.
he was informed through a phone call, that you passed out due to shock.
satoru felt his ears ring. everything blanked out afterwards. you were bleeding. you and your baby were bleeding. you weren’t supposed to and he wasn’t even there.
you were already so far along in your pregnancy and there was only a little over two months left before your due date. despite the impulse to scream at ichiji for subjecting you to such shocking news, he realized it would be futile, because in the end, you deserved to know.
he dashed towards the infirmary, the bandages on his eyes unraveling to reveal the bright glint of his six eyes as he met shoko’s stern gaze.
“where is she?” his voice came out ragged, almost in a growl, and his fists were clenched so tightly.
his remaining friend solemnly guided him towards your room and he wasted no time to rush inside, heart in his throat to make sure that no harm had come to either you or his baby.
“...satoru?” you were sitting on the bed, still pale, the swell of your belly was prominent even under the blankets. he looked at you with a mix of fright and concern and pulled you into his arms, breathing in your scent.
“you alright?” he inquired, voice softened exponentially as he pressed kisses on your head. “does it still hurt anywhere?”
“no, shoko has—”
“your belly no longer hurts? baby okay?” his palm brushed against your abdomen, lips tugged into a very concerned frown, and when the baby kicked him was when satoru could finally heave a sigh of relief.
“you scared me so much,” he whispered into your ear in a rasp and a sigh, before squeezing his eyes shut and reveling in your familiar warmth. one of his hands rested on where your baby was, to feel his twists and turns inside you, while the other continued to hold you in his embrace.
“satoru…” you mumbled, leaning against his sturdy chest and sensing the rapid beats of his heart. you felt exhausted and guilty for having mortified him, but you must clarify one thing. “they said… geto will curse everyone… is that true?”
his heart sank at your innocent question. “for now… can we just stay like this? i will answer you later, but for now…”
and you indulged him. over the years, you learned that satoru needed assurance in physical form more than you did. your heart fluttered as he patted your back and rubbed your belly many times, his worry crystal clear.
“i’m sorry i wasn’t here… and i’m sorry that i tried to hide it from you,” he began. “in my defense, i don’t want you to put you through more stress. you have our baby to worry about already.”
as he explained things to you afterwards—about how your once kind, respected senior was now radically persistent in his pursuit of eradicating non-sorcerers and targeted yuta, your eyes watered with tears once again.
“can you stop him?” your lower lip trembled, beginnings of sobs welling up within you. “satoru… he’s… was—your best friend…”
geto suguru was an undeniable part of your vibrant youth. a part of you never got over how he decided to abandon everything during your last year of high school.
and you knew that your husband too must feel the same, with how crestfallen he looked now. it was the greatest betrayal for him to see the only person who understood him branched away to the worst path possible.
“shh... sweets, look,” satoru made you face him, the blue of his eyes darkening as he joined both of your hands together in his, dropping down on one knee before you. “for now, please— please, just focus on yourself. i don’t want you to get hurt.”
“but—”
“i won’t be able to forgive myself if you or our baby are not the slightest bit fine.”
you went silent at that. gojo satoru never showed his weakness to anyone, and with you, rarely. yet, in this moment, he appeared vulnerable, confessing that losing the only thing that kept him sane—this little family you made—would be unbearable.
“i’m fine, i promise,” you reassured, pulling your hand away before wrapping your arms around his neck, seeking his comfort and letting your tears to finally fall freely. “i’m sorry for earlier…”
“don’t. i should’ve told you sooner, that way you wouldn’t bleed,” satoru firmly rebuked in a grave tone, his voice tinged with self-deprecation as he hugged you again in return, stroking your hair. “did it hurt much? you must’ve been so terrified…”
“i was spooked, but we’re fine…”
“i’m going to take leave for the next few days, yeah? we’re going to be together. i can't—in this state of mind—leave you alone.”
the thought of potentially losing your baby filled him with terror. everything else be damned—including suguru’s atrocities, he had to take care of you first.
because you were the one who stood by his side when his world was at its darkest—you had came to him with the light of the dawn. he was forever grateful to you for becoming the apple of his eye, mending his broken heart, and ultimately becoming his everything.
he wouldn't let anything happen to you. that was his vow to himself. and he was a man of his word.
. . .
it didn't occur to you until much, much later, after all was said and done—after you were notified of suguru's death on december 24, that his mind had been set since then, because satoru had never promised you that he would be able to stop him.

Chapter 2: Intimacy and Exposure
--
By mid afternoon, you and Megumi are both exhausted with your full course load. You both major in biology, no emphasis right now. Megumi loves animals, so he will probably pursue something veterinary later. As for you, you’re undecided. You chose biology because it’s very general and broad, and also so you could be with Megumi more. You would never tell him that, though. You just say “idk maybe some science-y crap” and shrug it off.
You weren’t able to get lunch, so you both decide to visit a coffee shop after your last class of the day. A snack and some caffeine would help get you through for a while until you decide what you want to eat that night.
Megumi orders his usual black cold brew and muffin. The barista asks how to spell his name, and giggles? Is she flirting with him?
“That’s a cute name…” She says as she writes it down on his cup. “And for you…?” She barely glances at you.
You’re not sure how you feel in that moment. Was she flirting with Gumi? Am I jealous? Why is my heart racing?
“Oh I’ll just get an iced black tea and a banana bread please.” You try to not show your emotions while speaking. You’re not sure why you feel this way though.
You hope and pray to whoever is out there, any deity listening, that Megumi would not see you blushing and jealous.
You think you’re in the clear, he didn’t notice. He drives you home and you scroll your phone, acting like everything is normal. In reality, you’re shaking.
--
Sitting around the table, you both have your laptops and books out in front of you. It’s been a couple hours of studying, and you’re ready to take a break.
“Gumi, can we take a break and watch something? If I read the word bacteria one more time I’m going to go insane.” You tell him more than ask, already getting up out of your seat. You’re yawning, walking straight towards your bedroom, not even bothering to wait up for him. You already know he will follow.
Your room is hyperfeminine, plushies everywhere, cute shit everywhere. But you also have a mix of other stuff, like your consoles and gaming setup (that Megumi helped you get), a bass guitar that you’ve barely touched, piles of books you haven’t sorted yet.
You turn the tv on, hopping onto your bed. Megumi follows and lies next to you. You’re already aware of his presence and he isn’t even touching you.
“What do you wanna watch, Gumi?” You ask as you scroll through different apps.
“Whatever you want, you have better taste in movies and shows.” He doesn’t really care, he just savors the opportunity to be close to you. He lies behind you, almost touching but not quite. He’s close enough to feel the tickle of your hair. He feels weird thinking that your hair smells nice.
You choose some random comedy show, not caring to pay any attention. You just wanted a chance to rest and turn your brain off for a while.
Megumi moves a little close, resting his hand on the side of your abdomen. This isn’t the first time you’ve been close to Megumi, you both used to cuddle under the same blanket on cold nights or huddle under one when playing games as kids. But for some reason, now it feels different. Maybe it’s because you’re hyperaware? It has to be that, right?
Your heart beats faster, your skin feeling warm to the touch with every movement he makes. Does he notice? Is he aware of these things too? Am I overthinking things?
An hour passes by, but it feels like an eternity. You’re so hyperaware that every second feels like 20 minutes have passed. He hasn’t done more than gently caress the side of your body. He doesn’t seem to be making any advances. So why is this so painful to endure? Why does a simple touch make your body feel hot, with something pooling in between your legs?
Megumi is aware. You think he isn’t, but he can tell. Your breathing is irregular, your pulse is uneven, your skin is hot. He notices, and it drives him insane. But he’s respectful, he wouldn’t try anything. You are basically siblings with how long you’ve known eachother and lived together.
It’s getting hard to breathe. Even the lightest touch sends jolts through your body. You turn around to meet his gaze, with a look he’s never seen before. Your face is red, you’re struggling to breathe, while looking into his eyes like you know his secret. He’s flushing too, starting to sweat, feeling heat spread through his body. Your eyes are intoxicating to Megumi.
He looks at your eyes, then your panting lips, and back to your eyes again. He’s thinking of everything he wants to do to you, he doesn’t care if it’s wrong.
He touches your cheek, caressing you gently. Your breath hitches as he’s so close to you. He runs his fingers down your neck, before he pushes you to your back. It’s not forceful by any means, but mostly surprising.
He’s on top of you, pinning your arms to your pink bedsheets as he leans down towards you.
“Y/N…” he breathlessly speaks, “tell me if you want me to stop, okay?”
You definitely do not want it to stop. You’re staring up at him with your doe eyes, unable to control your breathing. He leans in closer, his face not even an inch away from yours.
His lips crash into yours. You’re surprised, you didn’t think he would be so intense, and this good at kissing. He’s biting your lip, trying to elicit little yelps and mewls from you. He’s kissing you so roughly, forcing his tongue inside your mouth. Megumi is still on top of you, pressing his body against yours.
You can feel his heartbeat, his hot skin, his bulge against your body. You don’t know why, but you lift your hips and legs up a bit to angle yourself better against his body. Feeling him so close, pressing into you was making you feel almost drunk.
He releases one of his hands from pinning yours so he can caress your cheek a bit more. His hand travels down your neck again, moving towards your chest, before eventually resting at the bottom hem of your shirt.
He’s giving you sloppy kisses, before he momentarily stops to ask you a question. “Y/N, can I?” he asks while gentle tugging on your shirt.
You giggle. He’s too damn cute. You nod your head yes and he releases your other hand.
You pull your shirt above your head, leaving your bralette on.
He looks down at your flushed frame, no longer hidden behind some random band t-shirt. The moment you take your shirt off, he’s harder than ever before. You feel him poking into you a bit.
He kisses you with more passion this time, grinding his bulge into your clothed cunt. He’s grunting and making little moans in between kisses.
He lifts his head a bit to look at you and moves his hand over your bralette. He admires the intricate lace detail, thinking it suits you perfectly. He licks his lips. You know he wants to desperately feel what’s under, but you decide to tease him a bit.
You wrap your legs around his waist, forcing your bodies to be even closer. He grunts a bit, looking at you. You smirk and pull his head back down to make out with you.
You’re grinding against him with fervor, unrelenting and unforgiving. The feeling of him rubbing against you is oh so good, and extremely hot.
He moves his hand towards the waistband of your shorts. “May I, Y/N?” You think it’s sweet that he asked. You decide to reward him a bit.
You roll him over and push him against the mattress. You quickly get up and pull your shorts off, leaving your panties on. You take your bralette off. He’s watching you like a starved dog, savoring every second of this.
You pull his sweatpants off, leaving only his boxers on. He’s looking at you, with wide eyes, excited and surprised.
You straddle his waist, sitting on top of him. You grind against him, eliciting sounds of pleasure from his lips. You lean towards him, giving him a quick kiss on the lips, before leaving a trail down his neck. You suck on his skin, giving him small and faint lovebites. He looks so cute.
You have a suddenly devious idea. “Megumi, can I try something?”
He instantly nods yes; he wants you to do anything and everything with him.
“Lay down then, please. I want to try something I saw online once….” You say as you move towards his head. You’re hovering above him now. He’s directly at eyelevel with your clothed pussy, and he feels his boxers get tighter the closer you get.
“Let me know if you need me to stop, please <3.” You hum as you pull your panties aside and lower yourself onto his face.
He can feel your drenched cunt against his mouth and instinctually starts getting at it. Licking and sucking like it was his last supper. Megumi couldn’t really breathe, but he didn’t care. He could die right now and have no regrets. He would die a happy man.
You moan as he’s sucking and flicking between your folds. The noises you make drive him even more insane, he thinks he could cum right then with how much of a turn on it is.
You lift yourself up, giving him a moment to catch his breath as you look down at him. He’s staring up at you with the eyes of an animal.
You sit back down, and he continues once more. Sucking on your clit, savoring the taste of your essence, and basically fucking the air. He’s straining against his boxers now, desperate for any touch or release.
You have another idea. You lift yourself back up and turn around, your cunt still in front of his face. You lean down towards his straining cock. You push your cunt back down on his face, and like a good boy, he continues again.
“Fuck Megumi…” You whimper out as you push against his tongue. You move your hand over his boxers, palming his cock. You notice he’s quite big and you’re a little scared.
You release his cock from his underwear and it springs up. Megumi grunts under your touch. You stroke his cock a bit, slowly. That’s not your objective however.
You lift up once more as you move to spit on top of his cock. Megumi moans again, feeling the sensation of your spit covering the head of his cock.
You sloppily kiss the tip, earning a moan and a few curses from Megumi. “Fuck… Y/N.”
You move forward to suck the tip, before letting it come out with an audible pop sound. “You have hands too, Megumi…”
Your pussy is still in front of him, and he gently moves his hand to brush over your clit, circling it. You moan as you take him back into your mouth again. You’re desperately hoping this feels good, it’s your first time doing any of it.
Megumi pushes his index finger in, noticing how wet and tight your cunt already is. He’s salivating at the thought of when he can fuck your tight hole, but he’s content with just learning your body for now. Everytime he pumps his finger in and out, he hears your sweet, angelic voice.
The way you respond to his touch is music to your ears. Your mewls and whimpers drive him crazy enough already.
You take his cock back in your mouth, trying to push more in as he fucks you with his finger. He adds another of his slender fingers inside, feeling how he’s stretching you already. You moan around his cock, and this turns Megumi on more.
He moves to push you against the bed again, pushing your body down gently. He never breaks contact with your cunt, as he starts to fingerfuck you even harder. He’s watching you squirm and moan under his touch, and he can’t get enough of it.
“Megumi… Aah!!” His touch is relentless. He wants to hear every sound you can possibly make. He finger fucks you harder, feelings your walls clamp around his fingers. He uses his other hand to rub circles around your clit. You’re nearing your climax, and he’s eager to see all of it.
You’re drunk in the pleasure that is Megumi’s skilled fingers. He brings you to the edge, watching as pleasure washes over your entire body. He pulls his fingers out and licks them clean, wanting to savor your juices all while never breaking eye contact with you.
Your chest is heaving, but you want to make this man feel good too. You roll over and crawl across the bed towards him. He sits atop the bed once more, spreading his legs open and smirking.
The way you’re crawling towards him is incredibly hot. He knows what you’re about to do.
You make your way to his cock, spitting on it once more and stroking it a bit. You know you can’t fit all of this beast, but you want to try your hardest.
You look up at him as you take his cock into your mouth. You make it about halfway before you feel at your limit.
“Y/N, you’re taking me so well. You’re such a good girl,” he praises you as you drool over his cock. He gently grabs your hair, not tugging but mostly just applying pressure.
Your pussy drips again at the praise as you continue to go up and down. You’re finding a rhythm to breathe and still go at a decent pace. Using your hands also helps, and whenever you fondle his balls, Megumi’s eyes roll back into his head a bit.
“Y/N.. I’m close..” He says as he bucks his hips against your mouth. “Please.. don’t stop..”
You suck harder and moan against his cock. You don’t particularly like the idea of cum in your mouth, but for Megumi, you would do it.
He covers the back of your throat with his cum, and groans as you empty his balls like an expert. “Y/N… fuck…”
You pull back up, trying to not show how displeased you are with the taste of cum.
“That was… fuck…” He lets out an exhausted sigh. “Fucking… amazing…”
You’re laying down together again, not even caring to get dressed again. The studying can wait for later, for now you want to relish this moment.
You’re not sure what this means between you two, but you’re still happy that it happened. You yawn as he snuggles around you as the big spoon, surrounding by the same fuzzy blanket and cute plushies.
He thinks it’s so cute how tired you get after that. He lays there as you fall asleep before him, memorizing and tracing every detail of your body.
Toji comes home not long after Megumi finally passes out. He doesn’t see food on the table, and goes to check your room. He sees you and Megumi, asleep under your fuzzy pink comforter.

Uraume Confirmed Gender, Originally a Male and Reincarnated Into a Woman's Body | Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 28
[Source: SportsSkeeda Article]
Okay first off, let me just say that I fucking knew it. Usually, I try not to make jokes while writing these silly, for lack of a better word; essays. However, I did in fact call it. I theorized this is exactly how Uraume's gender works, the binding on their chest never being for battle, but instead just to bind their chest. Here's a screenshot dating back to September 10th [last month]
Now excuse me but to all the Jujutsu Kaisen "fans" that said Uraume is in fact a girl and nothing else; FUCK YOU.
I'm sorry but the jjk fandom is by far one of the worst fandoms I've been in. and I've been in the My Hero Academia fandom so that says A LOT.
it's extremely ironic too because as soon as this came out, the "transphobic" Uraume "fans" stopped shipping them with Sukuna, like immediately. If that doesn't scream red flags about the fandom then I don't know what does.
I've talked about it before and I will talk about it again, [legal + nontoxic] queer ships and queer headcanons within the jjk fandom is NOT the problem. The people constantly shoving "why can't two men be best friends" down your throat are THE problem. These headcanons and ships are not new within any anime fandom, there will always be a queer ship no matter what.
"Why can't two men be best friends" Why can't a woman and a man be best friends? Why do you ship every woman + man friendship?
Honestly the first time I've ever been so goddamn happy for Gege Akutami to confirm something about his character, especially knowing who it's going to upset. It honestly does suck how many bigots are in the jjk fandom because Gege isn't against lgbtqia+, he's literally a fan of BLs..
The only excuses people had for Uraume being a woman is;
Hakari calling them a 'her' [he was assuming]
Uraume has bandages around their chest during Hakari vs Uraume because they're a woman and that's what women do during battles
They were reincarnated into a woman's body therefore they're a woman.
I'm skipping over the Hakari part because that is such an obvious answer. Uraume having a chest binding around their chest during a fight isn't because they're a woman, not to mention no other woman character has ever had chest bindings, there's literally nothing to back that up. And if you *actually* paid attention in Jujutsu Kaisen, you'd know that reincarnation has NEVER specified that the vessel NEEDED to be of the SAME GENDER.
I'm not 'caring too much' about a fictional situation. I care about the fact that homo/transphobes are so fucking annoying in fandoms to the point that no one can even enjoy Jujutsu Kaisen anymore without some rat in your ear saying it's not canon.
Just like the heavy homophobia towards SatoSugu or ItaFushi, the only excuse both have is 'two men can be best friends' as if SatoSugu or ItaFushi shippers have ever said they couldn't be. The more valid reason is that ItaFushi is a risky ship due to both of them being minors and not wanting two minor characters to be sexualized, but shipping characters doesn't automatically mean you want them to have intercourse or debate on who's top/bottom.
Most shippers [including myself] ship characters that would most likely be wholesome together due to how much they care about each other.
Anyway, I thank Gege Akutami for this confirmation so the useless debate can stop. I will still be referring to Uraume as 'they/them' due to them being technically both genders. I'm praying that the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom and future fandoms are able to heal and not have constant debates like this because people want to have unproblematic headcanons.

"Promise Me" | Gojo x Reader
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen Pairing: Satoru Gojo x Reader Words: 2.3k
A/N: no one talk to me, this is my way of coping with the latest chapter. This week is not a fun one for us Gojo lovers. Also this scenario has probably been written a thousand times at this point (thanks a lot Gege) but here's my two cents on the matter (go figure, my first official Gojo post and he's fuckin dead)
Warnings: JJK 236 SPOILERS, mentions of fem!reader, nightmares, brief mentions of violence/gore, pet names (baby, sweets, pretty girl), very self-indulgent and I apologize for that
Nightmares are a common occurrence in your line of work; you knew that even before you agreed to take the job. Usually you can stand them when they hit. Staring into the shadows of your bedroom, wide eyes raking over every little thing inside, too scared to even move a muscle. Knowing that, once you do, the illusion will vanish. The fear will go away, bit by bit, until you feel comfortable enough to fall back asleep.
Till the next morning, when you can’t even remember what you were so afraid of.
But this time is different. Your body isn’t frozen at all; you don’t snuggle deeper into the blankets, praying that they’ll be enough to protect you from whatever creatures lurk in the night. In fact they’re suffocating—but even when you throw them off you’re still heaving like a madman. Cold sweat clamming up your skin. Hands trembling at your sides. Eyes nearly bursting from your skull when you realize the other side of the bed is empty.
Empty, empty—where is he? Where did he go?
Was your dream not actually a dream after all?
You’re shaking so hard when you force your way out of bed. Nearly toppling over your own two feet as you stumble out of the bedroom. The door’s cracked open, but there aren’t any lights on, where is he, where the fuck is he?!
Another step, round the corner, and suddenly you smack face first into something hard. A soft oof reaches your ears, and through the darkness and the veil of your tears, you can barely make out the two blue lights glowing at you from above.
“Whoa, careful! Sorry about that, almost didn’t see you there. What’re you doing up so late, baby?”
Your eyes are still blurry, no matter how many times you blink. But you can still see him, his hair messy from sleep, wearing nothing but a pair of old sweatpants. He offers a lazy smile, but it drops almost instantly when he sees the tears spilling down your burning cheeks.
“…Hey, what’s wrong?”
Maybe it’s the tender tone of his voice, the soft way he speaks those three simple words. Or maybe it’s the fact you can see his eyes dim ever so slightly, signaling he’s turned off his technique for the moment. Or maybe it’s just knowing that he’s here, still alive and breathing and in one fucking piece, that makes you lose control. (Not that you had very much to begin with, but still.)
He visibly jolts at the shrill wail that rips from your throat, his whole body rigid as you throw yourself against his chest. Tiny arms wrapped around his waist, nails digging into his muscular back. Almost as though you’re scared he’ll disappear, anchoring him to you with every bit of strength you have.
What does he do? You’re obviously in distress, but why? He’d just left to get a glass of water, he’d been gone for less than five minutes! And now you’re blubbering like a child into his bare chest, sobbing so loudly he’s surprised none of your neighbors have come banging on your door.
“Baby, come on,” he tries, but the pet name only seems to make you cry harder. He winces before taking hold of both your shoulders. He doesn’t bother trying to pry you away; no need to make you even more upset. “You gotta tell me what’s wrong. I can’t help you if I don’t know.”
Damn it, everything he’s saying is just making it worse. He hates seeing you cry like this. So tiny and frail, curling into his chest, incoherent words and noises spilling from your lips. You won’t answer him or let go of his body, no matter how many times he tries to convince you.
Does he just ride it out and let you finish? What if you pass out? Will you still remember any of this by the time you wake up tomorrow? Was it something he said earlier that made you this upset? He wracks his brain, trying to see if any of his earlier teasing struck a nerve within you. He doesn’t recall saying anything that could prompt this kind of reaction out of you…
Then again, what could? You’re his girl, his other half (as he’s quick to remind you and everyone else within earshot). Strong but soft, a capable sorcerer climbing the ranks with ease. You have an unshakeable character, sticking true to your values and morals no matter what. It’s one of the reasons why he fell in love with you in the first place. Not just anything could resort you to a crying, trembling mess in his arms.
He sucks in a deep breath and tries again. “Come on, tell me what’s wrong. I promise I’ll make it all better, I swear!”
And he’s just about to bribe you with some of the sweets he’s stashed away in the kitchen when you lift your head from his chest. Cheeks hot and tearstained, and yet you’re still so beautiful.
“S-sorry,” you barely manage to choke out. Your throat’s practically on fire, and you can already feel a monster of a headache coming on. “I…I had…”
He doesn’t say anything. He simply wipes your tears away with his thumb, waiting patiently for you to finish.
“…I had a bad dream…”
It sounds so fucking childish when you say it out loud. Should’ve just kept your mouth shut, gone back to bed once you saw he was okay. What do you expect he’ll do about it, huh? Not like he can erase your bad memories, no matter how strong he might be.
But that hole in your chest is still there, even after all that crying—
And you can’t help it anymore. You press your palms to your face, desperately trying to rid your fact of all those tears. Wanting to save at least some of your dignity before the night’s over.
A pair of warm hands close over your wrists, his touch surprisingly gentle as he pulls your hands away. Exposing your teary, blubbering face to those beautiful blue eyes. The mere thought makes you want to cry all over again.
“C’mon now, you’re too pretty to cry like that.” The corner of his mouth is quirked up in a smile, his messy hair hanging over his eyes as he tilts his head to meet your gaze. He catches another tear on his thumb, making sure to wipe it away before pressing a kiss to your cheek. “I don’t like seeing you all upset like that.”
“B-but”—oh fuck, here you go again—“you were…you were dead!”
You can still remember everything so clearly. The blood trickling from his mouth. The glazed look in those dull eyes. How fucking fast it all seemed to happen. One moment he was fine, breathing and smiling as usual, and the next he was staring up at the sky. You didn’t even hear his body drop to the ground.
So much blood, it’s not supposed to be out of your body like that, why couldn’t I save you, why couldn’t—
“I’m sorry!” you blurt out, even as he takes you in his arms and pulls you against his chest. “I wasn’t enough to save you! You were dead and I couldn’t do a damn thing about it!”
You don’t even know what you’re saying at this point, but for whatever reason, talking about this seems to help. Your chest feels a bit lighter than it did before, even if your heart’s as heavy as a stone.
“You’re not supposed to die! And I know that’s stupid of me to say, everyone dies at some point, but you always say you’re the strongest! No one can hurt you, even if they tried! So why—”
Your voice catches in your throat, tears still streaming down your face. He still holds you close, one arm around your waist, his other hand resting on the back of your head.
“…Why did you leave me? You said you’d never leave me, no matter what! But you did—and I let it happen—I’m so fucking sorry, Satoru, I just—”
You’re running out of steam, you can feel it in your bones. Too exhausted to cry anymore, probably too burnt out to even walk back to your room. But before you can even try he’s lifting your face in his hands, tracing your swollen lips with his thumb.
Smirking down at you like there’s nothing wrong in the world.
“Why are you sorry, sweets? If anything, I should be the one saying sorry. Sorry that dream version of me was such a cheap imitation.” He rolls his eyes with a scoff. “Like I’d let myself get killed like that.”
“S-Satoru, I’m serious!”
“And so am I.” And you can see it in his face—the way his eyes practically burn into yours, his mouth set in a tight line, his jaw clenched even when he forces out the words. “I said I’d never leave you, right?”
You sniffle out, “Y-yeah…”
“And I meant it. So no matter how many bad dreams you might have of me,” he curls his hands around your thighs and lifts you up effortlessly, securing your body against his chest, “just know that they’re dreams. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Slowly, he begins to carry you back to your room. Your arms find their way around his neck, fingers burying their way into his soft white hair. You’ll never get over how strong he is, how amazing he is—and how of all the people in the world, he chose to share the rest of his life with you.
Not strong enough to save himself from dying.
Your throat fills with bile at the thought, even as he settles you back down against the mattress. Back in the place where your nightmare occurred, where you saw his body and all that blood—
“Don’t leave me!”
“Baby, I wasn’t even planning on it.” Damn, this nightmare really messed with your head, huh? “I’m staying right here with you, alright?”
You won’t disappear on me again? You won’t leave me alone like you did in that dream, right?
He seems to see right through you, given the soft expressing in those dazzling blue eyes. “I promise, I won’t leave your side. Not tonight, not ever.”
It takes a few moments for the two of you to get situated in bed; Satoru ends up having to do most of the work, since your arms and legs are still trembling uncontrollably. But the second the blankets are back around you, he wraps his arms around your shoulders and pulls you into his chest. Long legs tangling with yours, his breath warm against the crown of your head.
Lips soft as they press a thousand kisses to your forehead.
“I don’t know what kind of curse you dreamt of, but if I ever came across something like it one of these days…” He leans down, lips ghosting over the shell of your ear. “…I’d win, hands down.”
“You’d better.” Your head’s pounding something fierce, every bone in your body screaming for some proper rest. And it starts to feel normal, being wrapped up in Satoru’s arms. “…Otherwise, I’d have to kick your ass.”
He lets out a laugh before nuzzling his face in the crook of your neck. His long eyelashes tickle your skin, his lips sweet and warm when they finally find your own.
“I’m sure you would. Although, I’d never let that happen; I’ll make sure to win every single fight, I swear! Don’t wanna make my pretty girl worry about me.”
But you’re always going to worry about him. It’s in your blood, comes with the territory of keeping this relationship alive. And maybe it’s stupid, maybe he is strong enough to never have to worry about himself in a fight. But there’s always going to be that part of you that wonders if he’s going to make it home tonight.
You tilt your head, eager to taste his lips again. Like your life depends on it, and the thought makes him smirk.
“Aww, can’t get enough of me, sweets?”
“…Shut up.”
But he knows he’s right. And you know he’s right. Doesn’t mean you have to say it out loud, though.
“You know I meant it, right?” Suddenly he’s holding your face again, brushing his nose against your own. His voice strangely soft as he leans in close, warm breath ghosting over your face. “’M not leaving you. Never, ever, ever!”
That gets a smile out of you. Weak and pitiful, but a smile nonetheless. At least he’s earnest. At the end of the day, he means well when it comes to you.
“I know you won’t. …So thank you.” You return his hug, sneaking your hand between your bodies and pressing it against his chest. Your throat growing tight when you feel the familiar b-bmp of his heart against your trembling palm. “Thank you for staying with me.”
There’s that tiny voice in the back of your head, urging you not to listen to such pointless promises. Knowing that deep down, neither of you can stop death when it comes knocking at your door. No matter how much power he possesses, even Satoru Gojo can’t resist death’s clutches when they finally sink their claws into him.
But there’s time for you to deal with all of that in the future. Right here, right now, he’s safe and sound in your arms. Messy white hair tickling your neck as he nibbles on the skin of your earlobe. Making you giggle as he brushes the rest of your tears away.
And thanking whatever deity may be listening above that you get to spend just one more night with him, wrapped up in his arms with his lips against your own.

Hmmmmm let me order a large latte with spice with Toji from JJK (female reader) and another large latte with cream with Noe from Vanitas (female reader) 😌😌
AS SERIOUS AS THE DEAD
Reblogs and Comments are greatly appreciated!!
__________________________________________________________________________
Prompt: A fluffy Victorian-era imagine with Toji from JJK
Word Count: 1.3k
Fandom(s): Jujutsu Kaisen
Pairing(s): Fushiguro Toji x Reader
Genre(s)/Tag(s): Female!Reader, Resurrection Man!Toji, Reader is shorter than Toji
Notes: I am somewhat inspired by “Anatomy: A Love Story” by Dana Schwartz because that’s the book I just finished lol
This is also like… younger Toji… so I’m taking some liberties with his personality.
LISTEN I KNOW WHAT I SAID ABOUT THE WORD COUNT
DON’T PERCEIVE ME
__________________________________________________________________________
The young man on the corner didn’t draw your attention at first.
Your mother was prattling on and on about the upcoming season and potential engagements, but you paid her no mind. You just wanted to return to your books. But something about this young gentleman caught your eye.
He was dressed in a tattered overcoat over a dirty button-down and trousers, hands stuffed in his pockets against the early spring chill. He scuffed his shoes on the cobblestone, and you could see the holes in them from your carriage as you passed. His black hair was ruffled, and those dark eyes of his bore straight into yours.
You raised a hand and offered a polite wave. The man scoffed and turned his head away, but you could see him watching you out of the corner of his eye.
At least, you could see him until your mother drew the curtains, blocking the outside world, well… outside.
“Hey!” You turn back and exclaim indignantly. Your mother huffs out through her nose and sneers at where the man had been just a few moments ago.
“There’s no need for you to be looking at those ruffians.” She snaps, and you just roll your eyes and peek under the curtain, ignoring her offended cries.
But the man is gone.
You run into the man nearly a week later.
You have your nose in a book when you run straight into someone and go tumbling to the ground. Your dress and skirts immediately soak up the mud and rainwater from the previous night, and you very nearly drop your book but instead manage to hold it above your head to keep the pages dry. You hurriedly flip through the pages to ensure nothing got on them. Thankfully, there’s not a speck of mud or water on the pages.
“Oi, do you want help up or not?” Comes a gruff voice, and your eyes shoot up to meet the very same eyes you had been thinking of just this morning over breakfast.
It’s the young man from before!
You quickly grab his hand, noting the calloused nature of it, and he heaves you to your feet easily. Now that you are closer, you can see he’s well-built, especially for someone of his status. His clothes are speckled with dirt, and he holds a spade in his free hand.
What did he do for a living?
You realize abruptly he’s waving a hand in front of your face, and you jerk back, nearly tripping again and going back down. His hand grabs your waist and pulls you back into a standing position. The book is squished between the two of you, and you blink up at the man. He offers a cheeky grin, and you push him away.
“Sorry!” You yelp and tuck your book under your arm so you can brush at the mud coating your bum.
Only to realize that it’s rather futile.
You sigh and realize your day is most likely ruined when the man speaks again.
“Follow me. I have a change of clothes.” He says, and when you stare at him, he looks to the skies as if praying for patience. “Y’know, to replace your muddy ones?”
“Oh, I figured. I’m just wondering why I should follow you? I don’t even know you.” You retort, and he sighs.
Eventually, after some back and forth, you agree to follow the mysterious man whose name you don’t know.
You really hoped you weren’t about to get murdered.
He leads you to a boarding house on the edge of town. It isn’t totally run down, but it isn’t super high-end, either. It’s nondescript and quaint.
The perfect place to get murdered.
You held your book close to your chest and smiled awkwardly at a panhandler sitting outside the boarding house.
“Y’bringin’ home a woman, Toji? Y’scoundrel!” The beggar crows, and the young man—Toji?—rolls his eyes and tosses a few farthings into the man’s cup.
“It’s not like that, and you know it.” He says, but he doesn’t sound upset. He sounds teasing as if this is a joke between friends.
The man takes note of your book and dress and whistles,
“An’ y’got a proper lady this time!” He says, and Toji ushers you into the boarding house quickly without another word.
Toji’s room was just as quaint as the outside of the boarding house. It contained a small bed, a dresser, a dressing screen, and two windows. He rummages through the dresser drawers until he finds what he is looking for.
A dress.
It’s muddy brown in color but will do nicely as you are starting to get cold. You set your book on the dresser and step behind the dressing screen.
“Thank you.” You say as you attempt to lace up your corset by yourself.
Keyword being attempt.
You usually have maids and help. But now? You’re floundering and tugging at the laces.
A few minutes later, Toji finally speaks.
“You doing okay back there?” He asks, and you make a frustrated noise,
“Just peachy.” You respond and let out a shriek when he comes around the dressing screen. He rolls his eyes and motions for you to turn around.
“I’m not going to do anything. Just turn around so I can lace you up and get you home.” He says, exasperated, and you eventually comply.
Toji stays true to his word and doesn’t try anything as he laces up your corset. He deftly maneuvers the laces through the holes and tightens the article of clothing but not so tight so you can’t breathe.
“Not bad for a body snatcher.” You mumble and realize very quickly that that was not the right thing to say. His hands still, and you swallow thickly.
Was he going to kill you?
Body snatching was illegal in these parts. But that didn’t stop people from trying to make a pretty guinea and digging up bodies.
“I prefer the term “resurrection man,” much more romantic, don’t you think?” He says and finishes up lacing your corset. You turn around and watch him warily. He watches you with the exact same emotion in his eyes.
He was just as scared of you as you were of him.
But it wasn’t until he was walking you home that he spoke again.
“How did you know?” He says as he scuffs his shoes and watches a carriage cross your path. You shrug, closing your book for the umpteenth time so you don’t trip.
“You were covered in mud. And carried a spade. So I was right then?” You retort and make to cross the street. He catches your arm, and you stop. He looks around to ensure no one is following or listening in on you both.
“Are you serious?” You gesture awkwardly with your book to the mud still on his clothes.
“As serious as the dead, I suppose.”
Toji throws his head back at that and laughs loud and boisterous. People begin to look, and you duck your head to avoid being stared at. He slings an arm over your shoulders and tugs you into his side roughly. Your book gets bent slightly as it’s stuck between the two of you.
“Oh, I think we’ll get along just fine.” He chuckles in your ear, and you feel your heart begin to race.
Just what had you gotten yourself into with talking to him?

Now that JJK is officially over, here is my completely biased opinion on the ending:
Shit was ass. Like, I actually started understanding JJK haters because of it. The story is lowk trash, the fandom doesn't really help it, Gojo is overrated, Mahito would have been a better main villain, and the thing keeping most people going is Gojo. Not even the fucking story itself or even the main character; it's just a white-haired, overpowered, blue-eyed bitch that the creator himself seems to strongly dislike.
But back to the main point.
It was very disappointing to me, and that's probably because I kinda (probably, definitely) started JJK with the wrong mindset and was definitely praying for Sukuna to win and not beaten by the power of friendship and love and turns all sappy, since in all the animes I've ever watched (253, yes I don't have a life) the villain never wins and or just ends up being good, and when Gojo died, I was thinking Sukuna might actually win and avoid all that, and in my opinion, I feel like it would have been better if he won and would have made more sense than whatever the fuck we got with this ending.
But then again we got to remember that this is most likely not even Gege's fault, because, as we know, shonen jump is a weekly series, and because of that, it has a very tight schedule, and ALEGEDLY whenever a series like JJK comes into its final arc, they have to pick an ending regardless of their plans, and they allegedly can't change it. (If you want, I can give you a YouTube video explaining this further; just ask or message me for the link). Also it definitely seems as if he was struggling with his health for some time which also effected the story I feel.
Anyway, I kinda feel like if he wasn't being rushed by his deadline, JJK would have definitely ended another way (lowk probably with Sukuna winning, but what do I know🤷).
But in the end, this is what we got, and this is what we'll deal with. As many people have said before, it was lame, sadly very rushed, underwhelming, has too many plot holes, and is just overall a disappointment.
And to be honest, I thought JJK had potential to be one of the best animes ever, but looking back now, I was just being your average One Piece fan (iykyk), and now JJK will probably only go down in history as being an anime with the best potential of becoming great (just like Megumi😞).
Anywho, I'm done with this anime, and now on the journey of finding my next personality and the next character I'll obsess over.
My king sukuna will always be the root of my personality tho and will forever be my favorite character in anime (maybe after Aizen and kenpachi but we're not here to talk about them).
Long live Jujutsu Kaisen.
(If you actually read all of this, props to you cause this is shit and I wrote this half awake😛).

My god... the jjk fandom starting to go down on Yuji now?
I'm praying rn for you not to have to deal with this bullshit that often, like we already suffer with Mob, Denji and Izuku.
I know, right? 😭
Like, first Izuku, but now my boy Yuji?
I still can't get over how fast some people switched up when Izuku had his depression era. "He's badass now!"
Bruh, that is a teenager who is neglecting his health???
I didn't even watch season 1 first, but I seen season 2 and when he body slammed Shinsou and then punched Todoroki with broken fingers I already knew that he was a wild, feral child! Like those moments weren't badass enough for you?!
Like, lately, I have seen more slander for MCs than I do for characters who actually are terrible.
It's like... can they not handle these MCs being a new generation written to twist the typical anime tropes around? Open the audience's minds to other themes? Is VARIETY oh so bad?

Thanks for answering my ask. If you don't mind me asking (again), who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Feel free if you want to write the reasons or not of why you love them. Sorry if you've answered this before.....
HI!! no problem i LOVE talking about my favs. here’s like top 3 ships of some fandoms i’m in because there is simply too many LMAO
jujutsu kaisen
- itafushi: literally my number one ship ever. they make me so fucking emo. the tragedy of what couldn’t have been prevented. i pray for itafushi moments in the jjk manga but every time it happens it is somehow worse than the last. peace 🙏
- yutamaki: they mean so much to me. i love them both platonically and romantically! their moments in jjk0 are super sweet and i love that they’re always supporting each other 🥹
- satosugu: this is a ship i’ll put in a blender. i don’t usually think of them but when i do i want to throw up blood. they’re the cause of all my problems. i love them. they are so my tears ricochet core
other ships i like are nobamaki, inuokko, and mechamiwa! perks of being a multishipper lol
-
bungo stray dogs
- shin soukoku: MY YIN YANG DUO!! they are the dumbest. somehow they bulldozed past all the normal stages of dating and went straight to dying for each other. who does that.
- kunichuuzai: i’m cheating here because i love all individual pairings in this ship AND the poly ship. especially kunichuu which crept up on me and slapped me in the face. chuuya being downbad for kunikida is GREAT. they are so good when you dont have toxic shippers breathing in your ear about how one is better than the other ❤️
- tachigin: do u ever think about how they’re both liars. how they both have a hidden identity. how they both found family within the mafia not as the person they really are, but as the person they pretended to be. how the betrayal felt like when tachihara dropped his mask. OUGH
i also really like ranpoe and atsulucy! and beast!akutagawa x beast!tanizaki is cute too
-
link click
- i’m a liar. shiguang is the only ship i have in this show. my FAVS. their devotion to each other is insane. they make me genuinely feral. cxs being an annoying little shit x lg who stays hopelessly in love anyway. ARGH I LOVE THEM. THEY WANNA SAVE EACH OTHER!!!!
-
tian guan ci fu
- fengqing: the implications of this 800 year old situationship is very fun. knowing someone so well that you know exactly what to say to hurt them. loving someone so deeply and repressing it to the point that you mistake it as hatred. i’m obsessed with them
- hualian: how can i not include the most romantic (and canon) pair EVER. get you someone who loves you like hua cheng loves xie lian because holy SHIT. i have not read the books (only watched the donghua) and yet these two make me feral i need them to hurry it up and get married already 😭
i don’t really ship anything else as of yet. but i do like and acknowledged beefleaf. i’ve heard it’s horribly tragic. i cannot wait to find out
-
sk8 the infinity
- renga: RENGA!!!! MY PRECIOUS. they are fucking head over heels for each other i’m obsessed with it. their ‘breakup arc’ genuinely hurt my soul. but i love how confident they are about each other’s skills, how they’re each others biggest supporter, how they see the best in each other etc. insane. i need season 2 asap
- matchablossom: [danny motta voice] they wanna fuck so bad. the end
i don’t ship anything else. but do i think cherry and adam had a situationship back when they were teenagers? yes. anyway
-
avatar the last airbender
- mailee: MY GIRLS. THE BEST ATLA SHIP AND YOU HEARD IT FROM ME. mai who masks her emotions with blankness and ty lee who masks her emotions with a smile. but they both know each other better than that. they protect each other and they are also 🖤 how could you not love them!!!!
- zukka: [affectionately] there is something so wrong with these two. the original red and blue gays. to ME. i think they bounce off each other well and they’re a really funny duo. also. the prince and the fool. what more is there
- yuekka: personally i love love LOVED yuekka. i like how yue really loosened up around sokka and how sokka was head over heels for her LMAO they were a really cute ship. moon coded gf x ocean coded bf do you see how great that is. the tides follow the whims of the moon. they can’t exist without the other. ARGH
-
voltron
- klance: sigh. since we’re digging this deep into my fandoms list let us talk about klance. do i agree with anything that was written past season 3? absolutely not. they are definitely a wasted potential ship that ruined my life forever but like. yah. the ship you obsessed over at 14 is SERIOUS business. the homoerotic rivalry they had was seriously unmatched. nobody talk to me
- adashi: haha. my first experience with being queerbaited. they buried the gays before the gays even had lines. i was so upset about adam that i consumed an insane amount of fan content and then wrote 10k words in one sitting. thats how upset they made me
- romellura: the gfs ever. the writers screwed allura over so every ship i have for her is… very fan-based. but i’ll protect them with my SOUL. the softness of meeting someone who knows EXACTLY the kind of loss you felt. finding comfort and home in each other.
- veracxa: sorry one more. VERACXA IS SO GOOD AND SO UNDERRATED. lance and veronica having the same taste is so funny. also love that veronica went out of her way to make acxa feel welcome. and their matching judgy stares. the older sister and sister in law. i KNOW lance was sweating
-
sorry for the long ass list. there’s lots of other platonic/familial relationships i enjoy in shows too i swear i’m not just insane 😭🙏. thank you so much for the ask!!
#i think. i could ship pretty much anything if you held me at gunpoint and made me write a fix#fic*#it would force me to see the dynamic and enjoy it HAHA#jjk#itafushi#yutamaki#satosugu#bsd#shin soukoku#kunichuuzai#kunichuu#tachigin#link click#shiguang#sk8 the infinity#renga#matchablossom#tgcf#fengqing#hualian#atla#mailee#zukka#yuekka#voltron#klance#adashi#romellura#veracxa#asks

When you think about it, the current situation between the state of Jujutsu Kaisen and MHA are really similar. Both Shonen are reaching their end points, with MHA having one more arc to go and JJK having maybe two more. They’ll both end by end of year. Both fandoms are actively imploding: MHA fans are either writing fanfic to deal with Horikoshi’s questionable writing decisions (to be fair, he has to deal with Jump editors) or just coping. (Ask 1/2, I’m running out of space)
Jujutsu Kaisen fans are either coping extremely hard (search up lobotomy Kaisen for context) or just practically praying that Gege fixes the story. Both authors are trying to finish the story up fast. Gege is trying to finish so that they can write their idol manga (yes, really) and earlier, Horokoshi is done with the jump editors. The problems plaguing both manga are even similar, with Horokoshi’s villains being boring and him killing off to many people, and Gege’s villains… (ask 2/3) …Are also boring AF, with the equivalent of the HPSC or even Overhaul, (Kenjaku, who’s as immortal as AFO but actually smart), being replaced as BBEG by Sukuna, who STILL has not had his backstory explained. (And is as dull as AFO.) The only difference is that Gege has killed too many characters for us to care, while the stakes that Horokoshi has put up aren’t all that engaging. (And again, so many pacing issues.) Thankfully Gege seems to be back to writing well, but only after a THREE WEEK …Break. ( sorry, my last ask got sent in early.) With all that said, what do you think about both series? And what do you think either author could do to fix it? (So sorry that my asks are this long, this got longer than I expected, and I didn’t know Tumblr had a character cap) (Ask 3/4)
I never got into Jujutsu Kaisen. I have no idea what it's fandom is doing and I'm not really invested in finding out since I'm not reading that manga. However, I do know enough to weigh in on Sukuna. The reason I hate AFO being an idiotic cardboard cutout is because of how he was built up, and how MHA has other characters represent societal failings, but AFO doesn't. How AFO steals the screentime from the far more compelling Shigaraki.
However.
Sukuna, from my understanding, was always the main antagonist. After all, the series starts with him possessing the protagonist. Additionally, JJK takes many cues from Naruto--which makes sense, as they're both highly influenced by Hunter x Hunter. And Sukuna serves a very similar role to the Nine Tailed Fox in Naruto, but where Kurama eventually came around, Sukuna doesn't. All media is a conversation.
Like, Sukuna is the Evil Curse. Isn't he called The King of Evil Curses or something? Why wouldn't I assume he's the main antagonist, when he's introduced the way he is and given such weighty titles like that and remains a constant threat through the entire story?
I'm sure an actual JJK fan could give a more nuanced take on it though.
As for fixing MHA? You can't. And I'm fine with that. The problems I have with MHA are things that either have to have never happened (the OFA Kills Quirked Wielders bullshit) or needs a total rewrite (the HPSC not being a major antagonist before their destruction). However, Horikoshi already laid the groundwork for all of the things I want rewritten. I don't necessarily need to see Midoriya fight the HPSC to know that they're bad and that he's making a point about government seizing control of bodily autonomy being bad, or that celebrity culture leads to unsustainable pressure and putting people on unrealistic pedestals. Horikoshi has already made those points.

Hey fren!!! :D
I saw you read fanfic, and out of curiosity, which fandom/pairings (if you reading pairings) do you read? No pressure to answer this btw, just asking for funzies! (I personally read mainly mcyt works)
Alternatively/additionally, how many cups of coffee did you have today 🤨📸
ok so GIRRLLLL I literally started following u since I had seen ur comments on flame's fics back when I was new to tumblr lmfao
so obviously tnt duo and dreamsmp had been my only phase for the last 2-ish years until my friend introduced me to jjk or jujutsu kaisen 💀 (pray for me btw /lh /j) also that happened like 2 weeks ago when we watched the whole ships : satosugu, itafushi, innuokko, nomaki and shokohime
note: all of these ships are either gay or lesbian ( shokohime and nomaki are lesbian the rest are gay) and my friend at one point made a joke about how I'm heterophobic because I turn all of my fave characters gay if they have the slightest bit chemistry with another fruity character
my ao3 ( btw I got an account like 2 months ago but I did have a week away from ao3 because I was worried I was addicted 💀)
I know you've read my header description thing you already know the answer to this I have the right to remain silent fuck off about my coffee consumption /lh
have a great day girlypop!!!
