Cree auditioned for Dougal (who's the guy who raised $250K for a film then never made the film? - ouch!!). Then they cast Sam and had to make Dougal age appropriate

What era would you time travel to: Ed - 60s: Steven - his early 20s

Sam created MPC and whisky "unlike the guy who embezzled $250K" (ouch again!! Cree used the word "embezzled")

Cree to Sean - how does it feel to be a millionaire? Sean - pass me your phone I'll call Sam and ask him

Cree was offered roles in Bridgerton 1 & 2 and said no after he read the scripts

Cree went on for 5 minutes about how Claire brought Jamie back to life in Monsters & Heroes - it was hilarious

Seems that the 2 of them (Cree and Ed) go way back and are good friends (Ed said Cree was the most excited when he landed the star trek role. They wouldn't ever have crossed paths on OL. They know each other's families too.)

Funniest lines she couldn't get through - where she asks BPC if the bite was from a monkey and when Ian offers to go looking for Jamie and Claire says "but you don't have a leg"

They talked about the ending of the books and someone yelled "Sam knows" then she said Sam THINKS he knows

Will be odd knowing they're not going back to Scotland when they finish filming. Couldn't say if they're staying but her husband is from Scotland and her in-laws live there so they will be there in some capacity

Costumes in S8 are her favourite since S2 Paris

Thanked everyone and said how much doing the show has meant to her

Asked if she and Tony share the same musical taste. She thought they said Sam and Steve said "no, your real husband" (she does with Tony, "definitely not" with Sam)

To prepare for Claire & Frank since they had a history, she and Tobias wrote each other letters. Tobias would redact his because he was in MI6. They didn't do anything to prepare for Claire & BJR because she didn't know him

During the rapid-fire someone asked "Sam's whisky or Graham's bourbon". She said Sam's whisky but hasn't tried the bourbon (she doesn't really like bourbon it's too sweet)

Storia Di Musica #362 - Dead Messenger, The Owl In Daylight, 2016

Il bellissimo gufo della copertina, che mostra con fierezza le sue "orecchie", che in verità sono solo ciuffetti di penne ma non hanno nessuna valenza con l'organo sensoriale uditivo, ci porta in Canada, a Montreal. Qui nel 2005 un quartetto di ragazzi forma una band: Roger White (chitarra e voce) Ted Yates (chitarra solista) Sebastien Marin (basso) e Charlton Snow (batteria). Scelgono come nome il tetro Dead Messenger, in pieno stile goth metal, ma in verità sin da subito fanno una musica di tutt'altro genere: eclettica, parte dal punk per spaziare al power pop, alla psichedelia, al country rock con evidenti spruzzate di energia e divertimento. In poco tempo diventano una sorta di cult dei club musicali della città, facendosi un certa reputazione. Registrano il primo disco, Dead Messenger, nel 2006. L'anno successivo Marin si chiama fuori e dopo un periodo di pausa scelgono un nuovo bassista, Alex Chavel, con cui registrano nuovo materiale, che diventerà un nuovo disco, Love Is The Only Weapon (2009) che la stampa specializzata sceglie tra i migliori dischi di quell'anno.

Hanno da questo punto una infinita serie di inviti a festival, raduni, manifestazioni, che grazie alle loro esibizioni energiche, schiette, divertenti, li fa conoscere in tutto il paese. Decidono di fare un Ep, Recharger come continuazione di Love Is The Only Weapon, nel 2011. Ma durante le registrazioni succedono due cose: Ted Yates si ammala e non può suonare la chitarra, e il posto dove avevano deciso di registrare, un locale underground di Montreal, The Pound, viene chiuso per mancanza di permessi. Spinti dalle difficoltà, finiscono il disco, che abbandona la scanzonata vena della loro musica, per diventare una sorta di riflessione sulla vita e la morte, con atmosfere più rarefatte e riflessive.

A questo punto succedono tre cose: Yates si ristabilisce e riprende a suonare, alla batteria si siede Tim Harbinson proveniente dai Laki Mera (una band elettronica di Glasgow, in Scozia) e alcune delle loro canzoni vengono scelte come colonna sonora della serie Tv, acclamata in patria, This Life. Hanno così una curiosità rinnovata che li spinge a ritornare in studio.

The Owl In Daylight esce nel Maggio del 2016. Il gufo in copertina, come il titolo, è un richiamo ad un libro, dallo stesso titolo, scritto da Philip K. Dick ma mai pubblicato dal grande autore per l'avvenuta morte, e che nel 2014 fu ripreso e rielaborato da Tessa, sua moglie. Rispetto al libro, che ha una trama iper complicata e dalle oscure simbologie, il disco è una scarica di allegria e di suono vivace per 11 brani. Dalla descrizione della città sottorranea di Winter City (le grandi città canadesi hanno sistemi di gallerie e luoghi sotterranei per difendersi dalle temperature fredde dei mesi invernali), alla freschezza di So Brand New, da Master Plan, con i suoi meravigliosi cori, alla cantilena di Crown Of Thorns, dal proto punk di Small Devices o persino all'esperimento death metal di In The Dark, ricchissima di distorsioni. Il disco è di una varietà musicale sorprendente, e i nostri sanno suonare, aiutati anche da amici musicisti: tra loro ricordo le due splendide voci femminili di Sika Valmè per The Glass Hotel, una languida ballata malinconica dal sapore country, e quella di Jessika Starnino per la conclusiva, e dal finale epico, The Owl In The Daylight. Il disco è un gioiellino, è anche ben accolto dalla critica specialistica ma nemmeno stavolta riescono a fare il salto decisivo.

Gli anni successivi sono più tormentati, e nemmeno le ormai leggendarie esibizioni live nei club di Montreal e dintorni sono così frequenti. Al momento il loro sito non è più attivo e la pagina Instagram non aggiornata da mesi. Rimangono una scoperta divertente e il disco l'ho sentito a ripetizione in questi giorni. Un gufo che non ha paura di apparire alla luce del giorno.

Charles Q&A

They only let him do some stunts. The apple "may have" already been cut in half 😅

At his first OL audition (over zoom from his bedroom), he did a Peaky Blinders accent because thought the English all have the same accent - he works hard on it, accents don't come naturally to him

William inherited the "good Fraser fire" from Jamie but learned how to be reserved (a "board") from LJG so he often feels the conflict within himself what he is vs what he was "trained" to be

One of the auditions (all on zoom) was the Death Song scene with JB - it was weird for him to see these "fictional characters" in real life. Couldn't mention the other audition scenes because they're 7B spoilers

He had phantom pain in his arm from the stick. They sent him to London to have a mold made of his arm

He has no piano in his flat but would go to the Edinburgh train station and use the public piano

Dream role: anything - "I love employment" but likes characters that exist between good and evil

Superstitions: not for acting but the supernatural - hasn't used a Ouija board because he doesn't know if they work but what if they do??

William is "a bit of a shit" and a "brat" when we first meet him in 7A

They did audition someone else for William for S6 (those episodes would have been late in 6) but he would have been too young. Since they shortened 6, they didn't cast William until later.

Someone asked whether he was intimidated by S&C. The audience member then went on telling a story how Caitlin before she got to set, was told S&C were a "power couple" and together in real life. Then when she got there she was told opposite (you could hear people gasp when she said that)

While Charles really didn't answered above, he later on was asked what his favourite movie is, he didn't really have one but said he really loved Ford vs Ferrari, so when he met Caitriona he thought "Whoa"

Mom had watched the show but he binged it in 2 weeks when he got the audition - didn't have the part yet

Felt imposter syndrome and a lot of pressure - do I want to take on being Jamie Fraser's son?

Ultimately LJG is William's dad but important for him to find out who is he to learn about himself

This convention is "so fun" because they couldn't answer any questions during the strike and all they were asked were things like "what's your favourite colour"

Scenes that stuck out when he binged: Claire and BJR in Garrison Commander; the shinty scene

Doesn't have a go-to karaoke song - has never done karaoke. But he would do something like Tequila so all he has to say is 1 word (then they played it when he was leaving the stage)

Sophie, Richard & David

Sophie is apparently a favourite "on the internet" to play Harry Potter's mom in the HBO series. She says "I'm working on it" (ie she'd like to do it).

Their favourite locations to film - Sophie Lallybroch (inside and what they created on set); Richard - University of Glasgow; David - Hopetoun House

David making fun of the questions they always get asked (what would you take from set; what other characters would you like to play) - everyone laughs

If they could play another character, Sophie would play Rollo

Certain scene they were really proud of - Sophie birthing scene "broke some blood vessels"; David never thinks he does well - could have done it differently especially the scene where Jamie offers his body;

What cocktail would your character be: Sophie - Spicy margarita; Richard - Old Fashioned; David Pina Colada because he likes the song (doesn't know any cocktails - people were shouting them out to him)

What would you like to learn how to do: David - Magic the Gathering - watched them play last night and wants them to teach him before wrap; Richard is learning to fly

Which time period do you prefer - Brianna 50/50 - Sophie 1700s "corsets aside" especially since they're all filming together. Richard agrees. David: Lord John in modern times is living in the West Village in NYC running an art gallery called Fraser's 🤣🤣

Karaoke songs: Richard's - Piano Man; David - To be With You (Mr Big): Sophie - Party in the USA

Favourite costume - Richard "from this year" but didn't say which one (didn't want to spoil anything); David - Governor of Jamaica (Sophie says you've had some really good costumes and David said you just realized that???)

Favourite scene to film: Richard - driving around the Highlands (felt like our own little "side Outlander"); Sophie - when she confronts Bonnett in the jail (felt very empowered); David - first day, first scene he filmed dragging Sam on the horse "was a highlight on reflection"

Everyone is treated the same by production

Sophie used to be the makeup trailer DJ but Wendy has taken over

The first scene with Roger & Jamie was fun to shoot but he felt Jamie had "a bit of an overreaction"

What are you obsessed with? Richard - Magic the Gathering; David - his son; Sophie - music

Any scenes that you were intimidated by: David one coming up in 7B (we should all know what it is); Richard - intimate scenes; Sophie - ones that are emotionally challenging and you "take with you"

Question about what you're proud of. Sophie tells the story of when she potty-trained her dog. The dog became so excited he jumped on her, split her lip and she ended up in the emergency room. David then says "do you know what proud means??" • Richard - passing his driving test because he failed 3x; David - when he finished his first block of OL

Character you haven't worked with you would like to - Richard & David said each other. Richard: maybe in the next block then Sophie says "but you're in the 80s", someone mentioned Jemmy and the stones and it just went downhill from there 😅; Sophie - Black Jack

During closing ceremonies everyone is taking photos and Cree (of course) says "go on take your photos like we're animals in a zoo". Then he says something about a "gaggle of lusty women" and Sean says "there is if your name is Sam Heughan"

Sean had organized other fan events then started watching Outlander. He wanted to do an event and learned the person to contact is Steve Himber as he "represents" Sam and Caitriona to get it started. Then Steve says he's "not responsible for Steven Cree"

Hello!!! Sorry for slow response, I planned to answer weeks ago and then I caught COVID and suddenly it's been another fortnight, oops.

Anyway, yes, I will start updating the comic again: TONIGHT!!! I've had a powerful art block for the past year or so that has made comics in particular very difficult, but I'm starting to get through it, and I have a bunch of half-finished pages I've been sitting on since early 2023, so the time has come to start easing back into regular updates. Hoping to get the comic finished in 2025!
