The first poster uses a shrinking and enlarging movement to highlight certain letters. This is effective as it forces the viewer to look at the enlarged letters, as the smaller letters are too small to see properly. The slow zooming motion is timed with the rotating circles. This helps tie the poster together.

Poster2

The second poster uses a fade and twist motion to make it look like the letters are getting flipped around. This is effective as it adds a 3D effect without actually making the type 3D. The viewer thinks they are seeing a new face of the type every time it "Twists" around.

Poster3

The third poster uses a flashing black & white motion to create a flashing loop effect. This makes the poster almost look like it's lighting up when the letters are white. This is effective as it makes the type stand out in comparison to the imagery, but at the same time allows the imagery to be highlighted as it surrounds it.

Poster1: smoke-free

I think warning of smoke-free area is in common in New Zealand. Mostly just ban’s logo or use text to show this area is smoke-free. This sign or text usually seem like warning. I think below NZ’s strict policy, the slogan could be more friendly rather than cold and unfeeling remind. Following this thinking, I changed font shapes, and use color to show the cigarette shape. Remind people this area is smoke-free, but also don’t make people feeling that is purely warning.

for this poster, I've used 4different pictures and a text with suitable font.

Poster2:

for this one, I've used 3 images. I've masked an image of girl on top of the text to make a image and text composition and give it a unique look.

I have done some adjustments to my posters, and I am struggling to pick my final poster from them.I have written my ideas for both posters,

POSTER1:  I use bubbles to represent my experiences at different times and social groups at different times.The dark blue bubbles represent my time in ChinaThe person in the red dress is myself in China. When I was in China, I longed for time outside and also obeyed the single domestic education system. The light blue bubbles represent that after I came to New Zealand, I got a new social identity after accepting a free and self-taught education system, although I was confused at the beginning. But it wasn't until I found a new social group that I began to develop a new social identity and regain a sense of belonging POSTER2: The person in front represents the entanglement and confusion of the new social identity in the new environment (embodied in the characters and the lines on the characters)One needs to share ideals and beliefs with a group in order to have a common sense of character (the eyes intersecting in the line represent the group, as the beginning disintegrates with the new environment new group and eventually intermingles)The face on the back represents me starting to develop a new social identity and regain a sense of belonging after finding a new social group

Poster1:

uses different types of mediums to create texture

type is placed in the negative space around the background, which draws attention to the texture of the image.

the image is the centre of attention, this shows the viewer some of the artist's work (as it is a poster for an art exhibition)

the image is quite random, but the text ties it together

Poster2:

two posters (dps)

it allows the viewer to focus on the type and the imagery separately

individually the posters look bland, but together they make more sense

The large serif font with a lot of negative space makes the left poster more dramatic, without the need for colours or textures. This is opposite to the poster on the right which uses dark colours, texture, and shape but still creates the same dramatic feel.

Poster3:

This poster plays on the theme of the ocean...

It uses blue as its main colour and type which represents a wavy pattern to connect it to the ocean theme.

uses a small colour pallet, which makes it not too overloaded with colour.

seeing as Ashes's birthday is tomorrow, i thought i'd compile my favorite (clickbait youtuber vc) Top 5 Ashes Lore Momence

1) the cake is a lie! my personal headcanon is that the cakes aren't theirs, or even that anything is wrong with the cakes- it's just the 40 cakes that the Toy Soldier stole (as per some old tweet), and they are desperately trying to free up some space in the Storage Bays

2) this is probably obvious, but i forgot that Ashes actually burned down their orphanage Before getting the rest of Malone post-mechanization! which means they really Are outdoing Jonny's backstory at every turn

And for a minute – for a moment brief enough to forget and remember at the same time, this kid could remember what it was like; forever that tasted like the scent of burnt hair on the back of your hand and looked like charred rubble where an orphanage used to be.

3) four (4) different wanted posters for no discernable reason, only one (1) of which is visually different!

4) this isn't exactly obscure, but considering the vague or dubious nature of the other mech's acceptance on their mechanization, Ashes is the only person to choose immortality with full awareness and willingness!

5) they need to even out their job as dispute-settling Quartermaster by creating an equal amount of chaos!

Dag 1 - Reflectie

De eerste dag liep niet helemaal zoals gepland, ik was veel bezig met reizen en had allerlei afspraken. Het maken van een poster schoot er een beetje bij in. Omdat het plan er wel was om een poster te maken, maakte ik tijdens het reizen foto’s van interessante patronen die ik tegenkwam (veelal op stations, bij metrohaltes, etc.). Vandaag ging ik hiermee aan de slag. 

Ook het experimenteren ging niet helemaal zoals gepland, ik ben veel langer bezig geweest met het maken van de schetsen dan dat ik in eerste instantie wilden. Dit komt, omdat ik maken zonder ‘doel’ erg lastig vind — dit ervaarde ik ook al tijdens mijn laatste major van graphic design en is tevens één van de redenen waar ik mezelf deze opdracht heb gegeven. 

De uiteindelijke poster is niet mijn mooiste poster, maar ik ben blij dat ik ondanks de tegenslagen toch een poster kon maken.
