I couldn't make it on time. She had managed to obtain the pieces to carry out her plan. She also managed to get the staff. The only thing that keeps me sane...

LBD: Destiny cannot be undone Sun Wukong.

I'm going to lose my mind! How could I be so slow!? Besides, I caused MK to get hurt too! I came face to face with MK. He was looking at me with questioning eyes.

MK: (İn a concerned tone) Monkey King what do we do now?!

Wukong: I have a plan in mind. But I can't put you at any more risk. Forgive me.

MK: What do you me-

As soon as I grabbed MK, I threw him into my cloud and sent him to his friends. I have to do this myself. This is my fight.

LBD: Awww... Do you really still want to fight me in this state? There's no way you can beat me. I'm stronger than you now.

Wukong: Not having a staff doesn't change anything, I can still beat you. (Suddenly a great pain comes to his head) AGH! (He holds his head and kneels down on his legs)

LBD: Are you sure? I don't understand why you're still fighting. You know you can't get away from this. You will have to embrace it. Why are you postponing this?

Wukong: S-Shut up! SHUT UP! GAH!

My head was still hurting terribly, but I barely managed to open my eyes. But when I opened it, there was no sign of the LBD or the robot. Just as I was about to get up, blue chains caught me everywhere.

Wukong: GAH! WHAT İS THİS?!

I tried to get free, but the chains were too tight. While I was struggling, I suddenly saw them. My old friends...

Wukong: G-Guys? N-No... No-No... This isn't real...

My friends looked at me for a while and then slowly started to leave.

Wukong: H-Hey don't leave me here! Please!

But they didn't hear me. Suddenly, MK's friends took their place and disappeared.

Wukong: W-What?

I'm so confused. What did these mean? What was LBD planning? Ugh... My head... On the one hand, the coldness, the headache, and the fatigue were consuming me... But I have to endure. I can't lose against her. Everyone trusts me. After coming this far, I can't give up. I started to feel a warmth, as if someone had been here for a moment. I couldn't believe my eyes when I raised my head to see who they were.

Don’t mind me just thinking a lot about how in DBK’s flashback Wukong looks shady as heck with that expression on his face, while in the unbiased flashback he looks like that, yet again this invades my brain. 

It’s rare he actually makes that expression that we see in DBK’s flashback, but I can think of one other instance that expression shows up

Edit: I’M NOT SAYING THE MONKEY IS SKETCHY, I’M SAYING IT’S WHACK THAT HE NEVER ACTUALLY MAKES THOSE EXPRESSIONS OUTSIDE OF PEOPLES BIASED FLASHBACKS (and when possessed)

i love the possesed macaque and wukong series honestly. i love how they fuck up LBD's plans just by being in love. What do the two think of mk? Will there be any potential mk interaction with the two in the future?

First of all, tysm for the kind words, lyfsanity! I'm happy you are enjoying this little AU of mine! :D Oh and I do plan on having some interactions between the two and MK! Secondly, sorry for the late reply but I really wanted to respond with some art!

On a side note, I’ve decided to switch up the format and layout of this AU for a fresh look, drawing a lot of inspiration from kyri45's and kiaonala's comics—both of which are absolutely worth checking out for their incredible art and story!! I also wanted to solve the issue of distinguishing our favorite old man yaoi duo at a glance, so now Mac has black hair and both have eyeliner to make 'em stand out! :]

SunBurst duo headcannons that I have but can't explain why I have them but it's special to me.

Before Wukong got comfortable with Pigsy, he was really shy about asking Pigsy to keep his food cool because he can't eat hot food. Mk started to ask for cooler noodles for Wukong.

They switched hair colors once. Wukong had dark brown hair and Mk was ginger. Wukong didn't like it but Mk really liked his. Pigsy made him dye it back because no one got used to ginger Mk.

Mk doesn't like peaches. At all. Wukong tells him it's alright and that he doesn't have to eat them but Mk forces himself to out of respect.

Mk has seen half of Wukong's glamors off. Wukong is still too afraid to let them all drop.

Mk has absolutely dressed up as Wukong for Halloween.

Mk didn't know what grooming was so when Wukong kept trying to mess with his hair, he kept swatting him off. Wukong eventually stopped and didn't attempt again. Mk then later found out monkies groom to show love and he cried. (This actually happened to me! My cousin has a capuchin monkey named Debbie and she did this to me when I was like 8. I didn't get what she was doing so I kept swatting her off. I got SO upset when I found out what she was going.)

Mk is Wukongs emergency contact number in his phone.

Mk knows some of the baby monkies by name. He even got to name a newborn.

Mk and Wukong like to color together. They even made a coloring book together!

Wukong sometimes turns into a small bird or cat and hides in Mks gold cart so he can go on Mk's noodle runs.

Mk just hops on Wukong when he wants a piggy back ride. Wukong started doing I too so now they just piggy back ride on each other.

Mk sometimes has nightmares about Wukong getting possesed or Wukong being trapped in the scrolls. Wukong usually has to comfort him.

Mk gave Wukong his own headband. Wukong uses it as a ponytail holder when his hair gets to long.

Wukong bites everyone as a love language. Not hard, just a little nibble. He first did this to Mk during midway through season 2 and season 3. Mk was confused but kinda rolled with it.

Wukong wakes up and attempts to take care of himself. Brushing his hair, teeth, and getting his clothes. Mk wakes up, puts his headband on and just goes. No thoughts.

Those two watch cartoons for HOURS on end. They have little movie nights :)

Mk was caught so off guard when he found out Redson was Wukong's nephew.

Mk before he knew about glamors, wondered why Wukong didn't look like how he was described (4 foot, red eyes.) but he was to scared to ask.

Mk stills feel bad that he didn't have faith in Wukong when he met Macaque. Wukong doenst hold it against him, he gets it.

Mk sometimes wears gold eyeshadow to match Wukong's blue eyeshadow. Sometimes they switch it up and change colors. (Bai He, Mei, and Redson sometimes join.)

Some thoughts

I have SWK listed up taller than DO - in my AU, the DO starts out being 160cm tall and then grows with each artifact he collects. It's also why in some of my art you can see DO being taller than Oz, or the same height as her.

By the time the journey comes to an end, Oz's hair has grown longer. She's still undecided about cutting it or not.

I don't think the DO has a high horny level, I think he is faaaar too focused on completing his quest of obtaining all the artifacts. But he does get flustered very easily when Oz sometimes grabs his hand or clings on to him cause something scared her, or when she compliments him.

DO does very easily get jealous though, he is a wee bit possessive. He does't like seeing other people or yaoguai get close to her, it makes him want to just wrap his arms around her and not let her go while glaring thousand daggers at the other person. He was not happy when Oz jokingly asked if the Yin Tiger is married and if not he would marry her.

DO and Oz switches between big and small spoon, although I think the taller DO grows the more he prefers to be the big spoon. SWK is the big spoon no questions asked ("You're such a koala sheesh." "I do not know what this koala you speak of is.")

With DO, Oz had lot's of different names to call him, mostly just to get his attention. "oi, you. Monkie. Kiwi. Peach. Luffy (kudos if you get the reference)".

With Su Wukong, it's mostly him that has the endearing nicknames for her, stuff like 樱花 (Yīnghuā, cherryblossom bc of her hair color), 心肝宝贝(heart and liver treasure), darling, princess, my queen.

I don't see Oz having a lot of nicknames for SWK though, she'll most likely refer to him with Wukong. If she is calling him The Great Sage, Your Highness, Your Majesty, she is being sarcastic.

There is no confession between DO and Oz, I think both are being far too busy trying to survive, with one trying to get all the artifacts and the other trying to go home. But there is no doubt that they care for each other and have become good friends.

SWK confesses first. My HC is that after the whole journey to the west + buddhahood + leaving buddhahood + gamble and plan his death + the experience and memories he gaines as DO traveling with Oz made him a lot more mature and appreciate the things he has in his long (immortal) life. And that includes Oz. Of course he still maintains a mischievious streak. He knows what he wants and he wants to be with her. He also knows that she has other shit to deal with, like the Celestial Court trying to put a leash on her now (because family history) and that she is still looking for a way back home, so he tell her how he feels, but that he understands she has other priorities at the moment, aaaand that he will continue to support her and be her friend, but also that he will wait for her because what is another 500 years of waiting ("yeah i don't think I'm gonna live that long.")

also also, SWK is definitely the hornier one. But he doesn't get jealous or possesive like DO does. He is very secure in himself and he trusts his partner. Ofc if someone is being pushy and makes Oz uncomfortable he will step in ASAP

I've also marked DO as having no relationship experience because I don't see him as having any, i feel like all his life he was preparing for this quest. But since he gets SWK memories after he finishes the quest, I do think that makes him having some experience? Especially since the game mentiones SWK and White Bone Demon were a thing, and he was im trever able to let her go and it was one of the reasons he left buddhahood. Idk about you but I do think that indicates a deep bond they had.
