TOTENWALD are back with the dastardly new single “SHADOWS IN PARADISE” along with a new LP titled ‘Dirty Squats And Disco Lights’ slated for release in February.

The Berlin based group consisting of Sergej (bass), Trish (vocals), Ruby (Saxophone), and Janis (guitars) create some tried & true Deathrock, as “Shadows In Paradise” combine all of those wonderful things I’ve listed above. Trish wails & flails while those guitars snake their way, all dark and sinisterly, around a moving rhythm section, until a snake-charming-like saxophone makes an appearance and seals the deal.

BIRTHDAY - ラプソディー (from the "ラプソディー / ナロディー" 7", Studio Gang Connection, 198?) This stuff sounds pretty goth to me, but maybe it's not goth enough? Tried to post this two times on a Facebook group dedicated to japanese goth & post-punk and had it instantly removed both times. Anyhow, I can see how this is a bit too wimpy to be trve bat-shitting gawth or post-punk ...however, it definitely tangents on both those genres. Honestly, it took a while for me to warm to this, but it's a grower. Starts out driven by the bass and slowly evolves into some sort of a decaf goth jam. B-side is similar but with a female vocalist. Of course, unless I'm missing some insert or something (though I've only ever seen two of these around, neither which featured insert(s)), there is no information about the band whatsoever. Back side of the sleeve is just blank and the labels only feature the label logo (which is a drawing of a 2-tone style rude boy character). Supposing this was release by the band itself, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Information about any other released on Studio Gang Connection would be mostly appreciated.

A very short documentary on the best band to exist at this time on earth, Fattycakes and the Puff Pastries. Now, obviously my favorite kind of music is peacepunk/anarcho/positivepunk and I do have one other favorite current band, Argument? Who is in these genres and I totally adore them and I think what they do is so important too!! But fattycakes knows no bounds and they even have a song about punching nazis. So if you have a minute enjoy!!

Z.O.Aの90年ライヴ盤Melancholiac Composers With No Destination。 持ってないレア盤で探しつつ手頃な値段だったのでやっと購入。 いわゆる中期でドラム交代、エキサイティングなハードロックがパンクやプログレ、フリーキーさを混ぜ込んだ異質なパワーが迫ってくる。 先年再結成も観に行った身としては激しくもトリッキーでノリたくてもノレない音のパワーがとてつもなく快感で感動。 その感想と本盤は同意。 何かで読んだけど、「アルバム録音は下書き、ライヴが清書」みたいな発言があり、本盤の収録曲もアレンジどころか解体から再構築されてて驚きつつ新鮮。 起承転結、一曲目のEuropeから狂気寸前のアグレッシブさといい意味でのとてつもなくルーズなグルーヴの切り替えの流れを超絶テクニックと儚い感性でなぞっていく。 再発希望。 #zoa #hardrock #progressiverock #punk #positivepunk #gothic #hardcorepunk
