The Lady Veronica Cecilia Talbot attends The Queen's 1813 Diamond Ball in a gown of slate blue in draped silk, ladened with rhinestones and intricate embroidery along the waistline, sides and back – a special commission from up-and-coming modiste Ryong Su-mi. Her dark tresses are arranged in a decadent braid that cascades down her back until below the line of her waist, with elaborate appliqués of rhinestones throughout its length to match the gown.
ooc note – just imagine this gown shows a little less cleavage (she was not that ahead of her time, pls) and overall represents of a slightly daring, empire-waist regency style gown, with influences from her indian heritage that show up especially in the embroidery. see more references below!

Media I enjoy with similar vibes
1. Cynical satirical comedies/dramedies in which selfish people do bad things and no one gets a particularly happy ending:
Veep, Succession, Bojack Horseman, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development
2. The horrors of girlhood and homoerotic female friendships with vaguely supernatural happenings:
Yellowjackets, Jennifer’s Body, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Heathers, Veronica Mars (VM and Heathers aren’t supernatural per se, but there is some “dead girl haunting the narrative” ghost action so I’ll count it)
3. Strange things happen in the Pacific Northwest:
Yellowjackets, Gravity Falls, The X Files, Twin Peaks
4. Tragic doomed romance in period pieces:
Titanic, Dead Poets Society, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, The Phantom of the Opera, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Maurice, Brokeback Mountain
5. Bittersweet coming of age story set at an all-boy’s boarding school in the twentieth century where a teacher changes the course of a student’s life for the better but is fired by the corrupt school administration at the end of the story:
Dead Poets Society, The Holdovers (I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?)

It's very unclear! But Alfonse's "It's been at least 10 years since Sharena was a child" line is a rough estimate itself. I feel like it could place Sharena anywhere to 18 to 20 when she joined the Order of Heroes (this is just my headcanon though, based on what's typical irl -- there's also a possibility that in Askr, the age you're considered "an adult" is different, but that's also speculation)
But if Sharena was anywhere from 18 to 20 when she joined the Heroes, and granting that a few years have passed to get to Book 4. Maybe 22? 24? At oldest? If every book is a year. Which in that case!
Yeah she could be at this point actually 🤔 Or maybe 26.
And really you can throw any random number at Alfonse like. I kinda hc he's 3 years older than her, if not 4. They do seem close in age, but far enough that Alfonse has always felt more "grown up" to her (possibly by the way he was treated/raised, many possibilities). But going off those numbers, he could be 29 or 30ish current Book, if we're going w Sharena being 26 (makes me wonder if his Brave alt is gonna make him look "more mature"... like his portrait always read as young adult to me, but I wonder if he'll be a little less baby faced.)

Winona Ryder as Veronica from Heathers
🙈 The first thought when I saw this photo was: "I should stop collecting pictures for studies and make one right now". And here is it!
Tried a new block brush. It slowed the process in a bit, but it was enjoyable ✨

All that said though I think there's a lot of room for the ages to be up for interpretation, for the Askr siblings. But the key thing to me is that it was established Book 4 that Sharena has been an adult for some time (for Alfonse to say it like that), meanwhile it's established through Sanaki that Veronica is a young teen or even pre-teen. That's really what matters to me, when it comes to my own discomfort with romantically shipping Veronica with either of them, extending to Thrasir and Lif as well. I also feel like the bridal duo does a good job portraying that Sharena and Veronica's relationship is more of a mentor/role model thing, a family friend or a friend you consider family.

"People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them." — Veronica Roth
