yâknow the wildest thing still to happen to me on this hellsite was my first experience of sexting, sans nudes, that was done in front of at least 250-500 followers because of those horny anons i had in early 2013 when i was 17. instead of being exposed to it on my phone privately with a partner at that age, it was done publicly for the internet to see lmao. i remember begging the anons to stop and âcome off anonâ because i was âlosing followersâ at the time too bc i was so insecure about my follower count lmao. and then yeah when they came off anon they were both 28 years old.
to write the responses, i just consulted cosmo mag sex pages for ideas hoping that the anons would like the options i chose. in one i detailed doing anal- a sex act i hadnât even done yet irl- let alone every other thing i suggested in them (head, idek long, drawn out foreplay, some stupid fancy sex moves that cosmo was all like âuse these moves to spice up your sex life đ„đ„â, sex in a bath, iâm pretty sure i had some lines about tying or handcuffing them to a bed (????) etc etc etc)âŠ.
when again, i had never even done any of those above sex acts in real life. i was a naive teen who was incredibly shy in regards towards her love life because sheâd ânever been kissedâ and had never had the âhot emo boyfriend whose in a band and is covered in tattoosâ sheâd always wanted, let alone even a boyfriend that she had actually fucking liked (ie clear braces boy, for like a month in year 9/2010 vs the popular boys that made fun of her, that she always had unrequited crushes on)âŠ. hell, my blog title when i first started on here in 2011 was âthe perfect epitome of being forever aloneâ because of these very reasons. but here she was, writing explicit sex acts to strangers like she knew what the fuck she was doing, to an audience of 250-500 people- and then to fucking grown ass men in inboxes. i was just parroting the shit iâd read in cosmo (both sex advice and sometimes excerpts of erotica/âsexy, steamy readsâ they had some months) and also heard repeatedly in the porn that my high school stalker/creeper at public school loved to show (harass) me with to flirt with me, whenever we were alone together at school in 2012/2013.
like you could tell how naive i wasâŠ.. because i used ridiculous lines like âlike a gentleman entranced, you lead me to the bath for our next forayâ and dumbass prose-y things like that. because what the fuck does that even mean đđ
????
and this is why i think minors should be careful with their online experiences. like yeah, you could say that i wasnât a minor anymore- more of a âyoung adultâ- who should of made the smart decision to not engage with these anons. but i was a kid. i thought it was fun. and when the dudes came off anon, i thought to myself âitâs not like iâm ever gonna meet them if i ever go to the US or puerto rico at any point. itâs not like that theyâll ever recognise me in person or ever reach out to me again in the future. i might as well do it.â and i did eventually end up ignoring the guys in my inbox, due to my mental health kinda plummeting from the middle til the end of 2013 because of my end of high school exams and stuff⊠and also the puerto rican guyâs infamously inappropriate âhot PE teacher fucks HOT female high school student in the girls change room showersâ fantasy which fucking disgusted me, when he full well knew that i was STILL IN high school.
and obviously again, thereâs the point about using the âblockâ button function. but as iâve stated several times over my years on here, back in my early days of tumblr, i never wanted to block or unfollow people (even if they were trash like these two men), because it seemed so âmeanâ and âfinalâ. obvs now i have no qualms about blocking people, and actively encourage younger people on here to use the block button with reckless abandon towards creepy people or people who can hurt them in some way. but to high school teenage me, the whole âusing the block buttonâ thing seemed to go against me being a ânice girl/personâ so i never used it, no matter which social media platform i was on.
this is why iâm hella scared for young teen girls on tik tok wanting to have onlyfans accounts: because itâs where theyâll be exposed to ACTUAL CREEPS AND PREDATORS incredibly quickly; all because they can make money off selling images of just their feet or eventually their bodyâŠ.. depending on what these creepy strangers demand from themâŠ.. and theyâll feel like theyâll have to do itâŠ. but to do it before you even start experimenting properly with relationships and sex is even worse. like. yeah. iâve admitted before that i originally started this tumblr to possibly post nudes, to see if iâd get the positive feedback that i so desperately wanted/craved from the boys in my year at catholic school- eg. to be called âsexyâ, âhotâ, âfuckableâ possibly âbeautifulâ- like some of the so called âpopular girlsâ got on their hella basic bikini photos back then (like i remember one girl i knew ended up with like 500 likes and a fair amount of comments on one of her bikini pics and i was INCREDIBLY BITTER because not even a pic of me with a nice outfit on, my hair done and makeup on could EVER get those numbers, let alone even break over the double digits).
but i decided posting nudes or other explicit images on here was an absolute no go, because i realised that i never wanted people that i knew digging up barely clothed/naked pics of me and sending them to me all like âhey, is this you?â and then possibly mocking me, all because i wouldâve been dumb enough to put my face in them probably at the time. now when i take nudes and send them, i never show my face. because i know now, that even in relationships, your partner can use nude pics as leverage for arguments or to abuse you in such a way that theyâll upload your pics without your knowledge to god knows where on the internet probably as a way to get back at you in a horrible breakup.
this is what i sincerely hope some young girls who ever contemplate starting onlyfans accounts take some time SERIOUSLY CONSIDER. please know that if you share shit on onlyfans, it can shared and re-shared (i think idek how OF works tbh) to god knows who- and eventually end up in the hands of people you know. i donât fucking care if itâs a âgood way to make money!â or if people think that im trying to stop teen girls from being âgirl bossesâ and the other dumb as fuck internet memes you want to throw at me. because this shit isnât âhaha internet meme funnyâ material. itâs some fucking serious stuff. and also, iâm not saying âdonât become a sex worker when youâre olderâ or whatever either. youâre free to make that choice when youâre in your 20s (no i even mean 17-19 year olds in this post as âyoung teen girlsâ- sorry youâre basically kids to me at almost 26). just please consider where the fuck your stuff can be shared to. who it can end up being shared with or to.
this is why i was so fucking adamant with my infamous old follower mr adelaide fuckboy/MAF that i personally would NOT consider becoming a camgirl for him or just generally⊠because i had no idea where the fuck my images or videos would end up. and do you know the places iâd never want them to fucking be??? in the hands of my high school stalker/creeper. in the hands of those two 28yo men from 2013 (whoâd now be in there late 30s or early 40s). i absolutely donât want them in the hands the mid-to-late 20s and early 30s men that that girl i met at public school in 2012 who was pissed that i didnât believe that were âadultsâ because we were finally over the legal age of consent (16) in our state of australia, and so we were apparently fine to âfuckâ literal grown ass men because âjust fuck them and theyâll be nice to you!!â which i knew was fucking bullshit.
i absolutely donât fucking want explicit videos/images of me ending up in âwhy the fuck wonât you let me give you âsex lessonsâ in the back of my car as a âfavourâ and as payment for teaching you how to drive you stupid, stuck up & frigid, virgin bitch!?â guyâs hands from 2014 (when i was 18/19 at the time and he was 25⊠he ended up being the first person of many iâd EVER block on social media lol). or i don't want them in the hands of those weird early 20s dudes (one of which was trying to set me up with his friend) who hit on me at 16/17 (2012) who were angry that i didnât like and watch porn as much as they didâŠ. and who promptly asked me at the end of their period of harassing of me: âdo you know any sluts we could add?â because i kept refusing their suggestions etc.
hell, quite frankly i donât even want them to go to mr adelaide fuckboy/MAF either, but the very few and far between nudes that i sent on snapchat to him back in 2016 are some nudes that iâd rather forget lmao. hell. i donât even know if MAF ever deleted my nudes or shared them somewhere else or not, after he fucking wheedled them out of me with âiâve followed you for 4 years, donât be a shit! you owe me nudes!â so heâd just shut the fuck up about my social life decisions and leave me the fuck alone.
i donât want ANY ONE of the guys i mentioned above to get their hands on photos of minors eitherâŠ. because i definitely know my hs stalker/creeper would⊠because his fave âmake her jealousâ tactic that heâs always used on me is that âheyâŠ. iâm dating a *insert teenage girlâs age here*! be fucking jealous that you donât fucking have me and feel guilty that you wonât fuck me like this girl does!!!â just like he did in 2015, when i ran into him on the home from uni⊠when i turned 20 the next week and he turned 20 that december. at that time it was a 14yo girl he used as an example of him âdatingâ/âfuckingâ to make me jealous. instead, i was completely and utterly fucking disgusted. like any fucking sane and normal human being would/should be at that horrible age gap. that is literally a fucking child that he was fucking grooming. and we were literal adults. back the fuck away.
just please. PLEASE CONSIDER the types of people that trawl these kinds of sites and their intentions. please consider that you are young. very fucking young. you literally DO NOT need to upload nudes to the internet because itâs apparently a âlucrativeâ business. fuck the jokey âboss babeâ rhetoric around it all the way to fucking hell.
because if youâre a minor: i do not want you to have your first experience of sexting or sending explicit images literally in front of god knows how many total strangers for the whole world to see (okay i know only fans is like subscriber/follower based or whatever. but i donât care)âŠâŠ even when you (depending how good you are with relationships etc) havenât reached the common supposed milestones of your âfirst boyfriend/girlfriend/partnerâ or âfirst kissâ or have even âlost your virginityâ (which isnât real anyway- donât buy this fucking bullshit)âŠ. just like i stupidly did with my exposure to sexting here on my tumblr back in 2013. these people donât/wonât give a flying fuck about your privacy or safety. they donât/wonât give a fuck about your boundaries either.
please donât possibly scar yourself for life, just because youâre being told that itâs a quick & convenient way to make some money for weirdos on the depths of the internet. you will regret it in future. just like i do now with mine. it shouldâve been something personal between me and and a guy i trusted and liked at the time. not to some random 250-500 random strangers on this hellsite (okay the notes on these posts were literally single digits or non-existent, but still⊠and also some of my irl friends who had tumblr saw these posts as well) for a showâŠ.. and then privately with two 28yo literal grown ass menâŠ. who shouldâve been fucking hitting on women their own goddamned age and in their own countries and NOT a 17yo high school KID (at the time) from australia; who, now in her 20s, needs therapy to sort this shit out lmao. mind you they both reeled me in with the âyouâre so mature for your ageâ bullshit lineâŠ. which i fell for a little bit, even if it did make me feel kinda gross at the time, too. donât fall for that bullshit either.
#life#about me#shut up ilona#relationships i guess#internet stuff#this went in a bigger direction that i thought it would lmao#but anyway

Survey #269
âwhy arenât you scared of me, why do you care for me, when we all fall asleep, where do we go?â

What are you obsessed with right now? lol y'all know my staple stuff I'm always obsessed with, so two recent ones are Skillet (I've been binging soooo hard) and drawing again! What piercings do you want? A lot, jfc. More than any, I want collarbone dermals once I lose enough weight to where they're prominent. I've been on a goddamn weight loss plateau for two years. Whatâs your favorite show to binge? None. I generally don't enjoy binging too much. Do you watch porn? No, not interested. Do you have a secret sideblog? lol this survey blog. Do you have/would you get your nipples pierced? No. I very briefly considered getting one pierced, but I won't. Are you angry with anyone right now? Not like... actively. But passively it's there. What tattoos do you want? I refuse to die until I'm P A I N T E D  F O R  T H E  G O D S. Do you like paper books or ebooks better? Absolutely paperback books. It feels more "real," something to dive into, and it's easier to see and understand how far you're in. We talked about this in Writing once, was an interesting convo. Plus the smell of books, aaaaaahhhhh. Do you still have feelings for any of your exes? Yes How many followers do you have? On here? *checks* 265. Do you read erotica? No, I'd feel SUPER uncomfortable. That's why 50 Shades has never appealed to me. Have you ever gotten into an accident with you parentsâ car? No. Ever thought of just picking up and moving far away? Oh yes. Whatâs the wallpaper on your computer? My lock screen is the Halo of the Sun from SH, and my actual desktop wallpaper is my favorite closeup of my late pup Teddy. What is the last thing/person you took a picture of? Probably a stupid Facebook meme to show Sara or something lmao. Name a band/artist you like that isnât that popular. Otep. Can you lift your significant other (your best friend if youâre single)? I'm sure I could. What is the first vehicle you recall your parents/guardians owning? Mom had a blue/greenish van for most of my childhood, while Dad had this old tan thing that he nicknamed "Frida the Cheetah" lmao. He had that damn car forever. Have you ever seen counterfeit money? Not knowingly. Have you ever lost a pet you were attached to? Well of course. I grew up with tons of pets. What was the most rebellious thing youâve ever done? Probably texting back "fuck you" to Mom when she was being really shitty when I was having a breakdown. Pick one: laundry, dishes, or vacuuming? I'd pick vacuuming over the others any day. Have you ever moved and had to change schools growing up? No. You are forced to move out-of-state. Where do you go? I literally want to move to Canada. The highway and back roads take you to the same place; choose your route. Back roads, probably. Youâre going to be a mom/dad; what do you think/do? Have a fucking panic attack. Are you more likely to give up or persist when youâre having trouble? It really depends on the seriousness of the situation, but in most cases I've actually faced, give up. Do you resemble one parent more than the other? I don't think so. Your best friend needs a kidney to survive; do you give them one of yours? If we're compatible, yes. Name a big life event that has taken place for you within the last 2 years. Nothing because my life is incredibly monotonous and stagnant. Name one difficult lesson youâve learned. Life isn't fair, and life doesn't care. Name one thing you look forward to as you get older. Hey, let's hope I can be a functioning adult before I'm 70. Do you use your hands when you talk to emphasize what you are saying? Yes. Will you usually admit it when youâve made a mistake? Yeah. Does stress ever affect you physically? If yes, how? Oh, yes. My stomach will absolutely hurt and I sweat more than normal (I say "normal" because I have hyperhidrosis). Did you have a money box as a kid? What shape was it if you did? I don't remember... I know we didn't regularly get an allowance or anything like that, but maybe I'm sure I stored money I was given somewhere? Has kids TV ever frightened you? As a kid, I both watched and feared Courage the Cowardly Dog, lol. Do you have any potted plants in your house? No. If you were born outside of your era, when would you want to be born and why? Early '80s! What a time for music, metal fashion, and fun. If you ran a store, what would you sell/have? IF I was more knowledgeable on more species, probably reptiles and more proper care materials and give advice that's not shit. Places like PetSmart and Petco just... disgust me. What part in a movie would you love to play? If I was confident in acting, probably the maniac lmao. I've experienced enough Crazy for that. What's the oldest article of clothing you own? LGBTQ+ rights is #1, then... hm... probably the pro-choice argument. Or just women rights in general. Out of your friends, who would you say you are most jealous of, artistically? Oh man, my friend Mini. She drew pretty well when we were young, but her skill like... increased exponentially with time. She doesn't draw in a *style* I'm envious of, but that growth tho. Most jealous ofâŠ.intellectually? Girt. What is broken that you have, that you wish was fixed? My brain lmao. A famous person you have met? Nobody. Who were the last five people to text you? Dad, Sara, Ashley, Mom, and my grandma. What is your favorite book that you had to read for school? The Outsiders. Think of the last two people you kissed. Who was more fun? I've explained the "idk if *I* ever actually kissed Girt" before, but just for the sake of the question, I'll just count him. I tbh hated it only ever because why were your lips always wet, sir???? The latest person was Sara, and she kissed fine. If your house was burning down and you only had sixty seconds to grab one or two things, what would you grab and why? Roman and Venus because they're family and I adore them. Out of all the concerts you have been to, which band/singer was the best performer? Alice was great! When was the last time you went miniature golfing? For Jason's and my second or third anniversary, so a long time ago. Whatâs a song you like from a genre you hate? I always answer this question with a country answer, so let's go rap. Hm. OH, probably a Post Malone song. I actually don't mind him. If you had twin girls what would you name them? Alessandra indisputably, and then the other... maybe like, Josephine. Especially as twins, I'd want two gorgeous, less-heard names. What kind of condoms do you use? If you have any pets, were they adopted from the humane society? No, but I would of course. Do you like home design, like picking out paint colors and furniture? Not any more than the average person. Do you chew gum on a regular basis? No. List all of your features that you have ever got compliments on: Do you mean just physical? If that's the case, hair, eyes, smile, uh... I feel like that's it. WAIT I can't remember who but someone once called my nose cute. Have you ever been in a hot air balloon, and if not, would you ever want to go in one? No; yes. What type of computer do you have? It's an Acer Nitro 5. Is anyone else in the room with you right now? My snake. Do you whiten your teeth with crest white strips? Not Crest, but a different brand, yes. I hate my teeth. Do you listen to local bands? Not really. I will sometimes listen to an old friend's band, at least bits of what they post on Facebook. Nova Mortis, check 'em out if you like pretty heavy metal. Do you have a pool in your back yard? No, but damn do I wish. Do your parents fight? Do they even talk at all? That's why they're divorced. They, especially Mom, avoid doing so whenever they can. Do you drink alcohol on New Yearâs Eve? Usually. Do you wear rings? Just one, a friendship ring w/ Sara. Are there any restaurants in walking distance to your house? It'd be quite a long walk, at least by my standards. What was the last picture you uploaded to your Facebook? A picture of Mom and me. Have you ever listened to the same song on repeat for hours on end? YES. When I find a song I really like, I become VERY obsessive. Like I will play it and play it and play it for days. I in general have an extremely obsessive personality. Do you like staying in hotels? I don't have much of an opinion. It's a nice change of space, though. Are musicals interesting or boring? They're cheesy to me. What is your favorite scent of incense? (If you burn it) Okay, HEAR ME OUT. There is legit a kind called "monkey farts" that smells SO FUCKIN GOOD. Jason used to burn incense in his room all the time and that was my favorite one, so I use it now. Where do you normally hang out on the weekends? At home. I'm always at home, regardless of the day. Can you tune a guitar by ear or do you need a tuner? I never could. Do you like love songs? Generally, yes. They're sweet. Would you rather drink 7Up or Sprite? Fun fact: Sprite used to be my FAVORITE soda as a kid. I even had a fuckin Sprite shirt. Now, I hate it. I haven't tasted 7UP in forever. What is your favorite song as of right now? I'm seriously digging Halocene lately, esp their cover of "bury a friend." Have you ever sex texted? This is gonna sound so stupid, but I'm actually not *totally* sure what that is? Just like, dirty talking or like, virtually RPing sex? The former I did when I was fuckin 12 like a goddamn idiot, but not the latter. When's the last time you went out of state? A year and a half (I think?) ago to visit Sara. What was your favorite TV show last year? I didn't *really* have one, at least not actively. Like I didn't devoutly watch anything. Would you know who to talk to if you wanted weed? HAHA I sureeeee do. I wouldn't want any, though. What is your favorite Beatles song? "Hey, Jude." If you could kiss anyone right now, who would it be? I don't want to think about this. What is your favorite energy drink? I don't like energy drinks. Way too intense. Have you ever been to Hooters before? No. When's the last time you tripped? (Literally or, you know) HA, funny I take this survey today because my left foot is either broken or I seriously tore a ligament in it because I fell yesterday. I had to go up a dose on my medication that helps my nightmares, but it's notoriously for lowering your blood pressure, and mine is naturally low. I got up to go to the bathroom and grab breakfast and many times nearly passed out from being so dizzy until I finally fell and my foot bent forward. I couldn't even walk by myself yesterday and am still really struggling today. Our family friend brought the boot she wore when she broke her foot over just a while ago, but if this doesn't help, Mom's demanding I go to the ER. Can you touch your toes? I don't know HOW I can, but I can, I guess from when I did yoga daily and I could pretty much go under my feet. What would you say is the best feeling in the world? Being in love and knowing they're in love with you, too. Have you ever âspokenâ to any celebrities via Twitter? No. Do you like croissants? YESSSSSSSSSSS. Do you get a lot of traffic outside your house or not? Yes. Mom explained to me why one day because I'd asked, but idr what she said. Do you eat cereal bars? No, I'm a granola bar person. Would you consider yourself healthy? Uh no. Assuming you could speak and understand the language, would you ever study in a foreign, non-English speaking country? Sure, for like a year or so! Doing that in Germany would be amazing. Are you on any prescribed medication? A lot. Do you know any immigrants? I know an illegal one that got deported. I probably know others. Have you ever lived in university or college accommodation before? No. If you havenât already, are you scared of leaving home? If you have, do you like it? Very scared. I'm just very dependent and ignorant on how to be an adult. If you could only eat one vegetable for a year (not including potatoes) what would it be? Broccoli. Do you have a certain routine in the bath or shower? What is it? Shave, shampoo, facial scrub, this exfoliating brush for your feet, and then body wash. Is there anything that you loved a year ago but just canât stand now? Hm. I don't really know. Whatâs the weirdest meat youâve ever eaten? I took the SMALLEST bite out of it because I couldn't stomach eating it, but after a lot of convincing I tried a microscopic bit out of deer jerky. If you smoke, what brand of cigarettes do you smoke? If you donât, have you ever tried? Don't smoke and don't want to. Do you like dried fruit at all? whatâs your favorite type? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Nothing to do with the Practice of Magic
We were in a pub, the kind of English pub that hasn't changed its interior since the 1970s, and when it was new it was meant to look fashionably old. The pounding of bass through the wall from the club next door was a constant annoyance that has practically ruined even the most obscure spots in London. Boom, boom, boom is now everywhere.
The conversation had been our typical rambling about books, art and various sundry facets of ethnology. My conversation partner was a well respected occultist and old friend. When the second round of whiskies had been ordered the conversation turned to the contemporary occult "scene."
There is a persistent mainstreaming of occultism that has pervaded media in all its forms over the last decade. From television shows and movies to a broad internet subculture of self identified witches, wizards, occultists, and magicians. Magic is everywhere we look these days, being sold to you by a dozen vendors of everything from fashionable clothing to beeswax ointments, youtube tutorials to directly paid for workings.
Of course, my companion replied, that the hucksters have always been part of the scene. For every witch there are a dozen frauds, both the clueless self deluded and straight up con artists.
Yet we began to discuss something more sinister, a kind of softening of the thinking of otherwise respectable magicians. Those who we count as friends and companions that seem to have bought into this modern aesthetic of "witchy" rebellious pr nonsense. Media makeovers, graphic novels, and collectors edition tarot cards instead of study and practice. Feel good "part of the revolution" taglines that reveal not an inkling of actual magic. Instead they preach a kind of self help empowerment, mindfulness and all that bullshit.
"Which has absolutely fucking nothing to do with the practice of magic!" I said at that moment where the bass had stopped pounding long enough for my voice to ring just a bit louder than it should, now three bourbons into the night.
"Not to mention that this new found audience of occult curious readers are being used as a trojan horse for an increasingly vocal far right/fascist infiltration of the occult world." my companion replied.
As I wandered home this evening I began to think more deeply about my involvement in the contemporary occult world. While I have been "involved" in one way or another for decades in my travels around the world, it has only been through the Skeptical Occultist that I have had any real "public voice."
The face of it is that I started this blog as a place to share a few things with those whom I know, and by chance it has grown to over 8k subscribers, and 50k readers a month even with my diminished output over the past year.
That diminish is another thing I have been considering. I am not the type to "teach" and have long avoided making my posts about anything practical. Practice is for the practical magician, not some blog recipe for casting a spell. I review books, those publishers whom I wish to support that I think are doing good things, making fine books by interesting authors.
But the reality is that even some of the publishers whom I adore publish writers who make absolute bullshit dressed up in skulls and pentagrams. The volume of hokey nonsense parading around in left hand path velvet robes talking about "darkness" and other goth trappings with all the aesthetic and cosplay detail with literally no magic involved, is astounding.
There are entire publishers who do nothing but churn out fucking garbage, not even badly researched occultism, just totally fictional theater calling itself ritual magic and witchcraft. Some of their books look well designed but the words on the pages are absolutely useless.
You can't buy your magic. Its that simple. Not your custom made wand, nor your one of a kind, from some magical place, fetish. You can pay others who are able to do their magic on your behalf, but from a practitioner's point of view selling your craft is a really bad idea.
The fact is there are a lot of people who will read this blog post who think they practice magic when they don't. You might not even know who you are. The ones who go through the motions, buy all the stuff, read the popular articles and books. But you know deep down in your heart that what you are doing is bullshit.
That candle ritual you saw on the web that you did to "bind" that evil politician? That tarot reading that you gave your friend about whether or not she should get an abortion? That book you wrote about how by following some contrived copy pasted from a dozen uncredited (and often just as fucking useless as you) authors one can have riches/fame/glory/sex? Its all bullshit and you know it.
Draw a single circle on the floor in cornmeal and do it well enough that you can conjure a spirit to visible appearance. Make a curse that kills with unquestioning results. Who can you trust?
You may know people or see people who have a lot of friends, who have a very good social life, and who are invited to all these cool parties, and who everyone wants to be friends with.
You may even think that about me.
But it is far from the truth. Having many people and an exciting social life does not define us. If defines what we do, but not who we are.
I get called an âIllicha Vaiâ (fool in Tamil) by my parents and sister all the time. And I have had that title for many years, maybe even since I was a child.
I had no friends in school until I was about 10. The only friend I had was my dads friendâs daughter who I met when I was 6 years old and she is still my best friend to this day. The moment I entered high school in Germany, I made a tonne of friends. No idea how that happened, but everyone wanted to be my friend. This in turn made me pressure my parents for new clothes and stay trendy and cool, so I will remain liked and popular. From the ages of 10 - 14, I was really enjoying school life. Everyone wanted to be my friend.
When I moved to the UK at the age of 14, it changed for me again. I sat in the back of every class, spoke no word of English, and was bullied again. You would think that wearing a school uniform like everyone else would disguise me, but no, I stood out like a sore thumb. The way I spoke, or the way I walked was an indication enough that I didnât apparently fit in. But only one girl spoke to me, who also came from abroad, struggled to fit in and was also bullied. Today she is one successful lady who is one of the kindest people I know, may I add. She is also my best friend to this day.
When I entered College is when all my troubles really started. From boys, to missing classes, to a lot of other things Teenagers are exposed to, and you feel pressured to doing so. During these confusing times is when you seek out someone you can trust and can talk to. My childhood friend still lives in Germany, and my high school friend had moved to Scotland at the time, and we had no mobile phones back then, so you relied on speaking to the person you saw on a regular basis, and man I cannot even count the amount of people I trusted and who stabbed me in the back! Figuratively speaking.
I then enter adulthood, and you meet a lot more horrible people at work, or you end up in a relationship with them, or you find out your extended family cannot be trusted either. It gets from bad to worse.
I wouldnât be surprised if the reasons of being so depressed and on medication most of my early adulthood was due to all these people and factors. I just couldnât fathom the things that were happening around me at the time.
You will not believe how poisonous, the industry that I work in, really is. I think that is when it hit me how people can be and what power, desperation, and jealousy can do to people. Ever seen the movie, The Purge? A horror film based on a 12 hour time period where all illegal acts are de-criminalised. So basically you can kill anyone in whatever way you like, and you will not be prosecuted. Well, if that did really exist, I am pretty sure I will be on most of these peopleâs hit list. Not because I am a mean person, but just to eliminate any competition they may feel, or jealousy, or whatever it is that causes them to treat me the way they do sometimes.
I love my job, I really do, and I get to meet some amazing people, and some of these people become really good friends. Whether it is from my industry, or outside of it, I meet really nice people. The problem I have been facing recently is figuring out the reasons behind some of these new people who enter my life. I have had quite a few people through the social media world who I became very good friends with, who I have allowed into my home, and who I have trusted with a lot of personal stuff, to use me and abuse my trust. With some of these people I got over it very quickly, but with others, it took much longer to get over the hurt, or still am getting over the hurt.
But you know what I have started realising?
It is not them, but me.
I need to stop blaming them, and blame myself. People are who they are. What their reasons are to act in the way they do is not our problem. Their issues and problems are not our problem. The demons they are fighting every day is not our battle. The bitterness they carry is not for us to deal with. But how we react to these people, how we behave around these people, and how we deal with these people does define us. It is in our own head. How we react to negativity is entirely up to us, not anyone else.
If I trusted the wrong person with a lot of my personal information who then went and told others, or helped someone in the industry who then used me to climb up the ladder, is not their fault but mine. We see the good in people, and we should be kind and helpful and generous, but there should be a limit no? Itâs like eating cake. It tastes so nice to begin with, but the more you eat you end up feeling sick. Whose fault is that? Definitely not the cakeâs. You should have known when to stop. And that is how life is people. Cannot believe it took me until my early thirties to figure it out.
When we are not in a good place, we tend to unleash our sorrows on others, and it is very easy to blame the other, or find excuses and justification on our behaviour. I do that a lot. I always pretend it is never my fault, but someone elseâs. That I am always the victim, and that other people are bad. But this is not always true. I am still learning that I shouldnât have such expectations. I put people on a pedestal and expect them to put me on one too. Why donât we put ourselves on a pedestal? Why donât we respect ourselves and not let anyone make us feel inferior? People need to stop hashtagging squadgoals or relationshipgoals. What does that even mean? You see a pretty picture with a group of people or a husband and wife who seem to have it all? Who seem to portray a life of perfection? You think that there are no problems or issues? Any relationship is all about problems and issues, because that is how we learn and bond. So donât feel pressured to have anything that is put up on Instagram. It is ok to be âabnormalâ. It is ok to not have everything that society demands, or social media demands. Donât even ever feel that way from my posts. Those are just pictures. And pictures tell a million stories. My social media is for business purposes, more like a magazine that sells a brand, if that makes sense? But the real me is when you see me live, or via these blog posts, because that is real life. Not an image with my gucci bag, or posing next to Vijay Sethupathi. You donât need trendy clothes, designer bags, or an awesome car to be cool. You donât need to have a flashy and luxurious lifestyle to be cool. Because people who become friends with you based on these, or your fame and popularity, or whatever else they may benefit from, are not real friends. Which is something I am still learning the hard way.
The moral of this post is not that you cannot trust anyone, but be selective of who you trust. There is no rule here. Some people say you can only trust your family, but I am sure a lot of us can agree that this is not always true. Some people think that when you meet someone who has faced the same problems as you must be trustworthy, but that is not always the truth either.
I base my trust on not what they do for me, but how they are with me. How they treat me. I donât need gifts or beautiful captions under an Instagram post, my few friends who knew me before I had x amounts of followers on social media are the real friends who I can fight with, cry with, and laugh with.
So stop for a moment, and think of the people who have been there for you from the beginning, who have supported you, who sense when you feel low, who can laugh with you for hours about silly things, who also share their most inner secrets and allow you to be a part of their pain, and who will stay loyal to you no matter what.
If this post has made you realise that there are a lot of fake friends in your life, just cut them out. People come and go, donât ever feel sad. And donât ever long for someone who has hurt you.Â
As long as you trust yourself and trust and stay true to yourself, it will all be fine.
Now go and hug those people who are good to you. Hehe

prinxess's rescreatu rant
Hey all (+Riyo), it's prinxess. I found this blog today, which naturally means I spent the next 5 hours flipping through the archive lol. This was supposed to be a short post but plans never go as expected (Warning: this is LONG). If you know me, youâve probably seen me try to talk about this stuff in the SBâwhich rarely goes well, haha. Iâm going to word vomit on three main things: Resâs âfirst come, first serveâ issue, Staff/ShoutBox Culture, and my own mistakes.
This isnât Voice of God. Iâm just a flawed 20-year-old who feels compelled articulate her thoughts at least once somewhere.
I accept responsibility for whatâs written below.
1. Early Birds Get the Worm
Nice names are Resâs lifeblood. The aim of the game is to accumulate as many as you can. It didn't start out that way but thatâs what it's become; it's human nature to want what your peers want. We enjoy having valuable thingsâthe proof is in the pixels. But LOL good names are now worth 1B tu? This is why people are so upset with the site. If you made an account in 2006, quickly hatched three creatu named Diamond, Emerald, and Sapphire, and didn't log in again until now, your account would be worth more than someone who joined a year ago but has put in hundreds of hours into the site.
1B is pretty abstract, so I'll offer a cold splash of in-game reality. 700M = $100
Many of Rescreatuâs issues writhe around one malignant crux: its âfirst come, first serveâ groundwork. Meaning, if your account isnât old enough to be sent off to grade school, then you are out of luck. With everything. If you werenât there when you could fish tier-1 names from the Atquateen Forest, if you werenât there during the mass graveyard purges, if you werenât smart enough to buy valuable names en masse for cheap from naive tweens 8 years ago, youâre out of luck. Unless Mr. Moneybags disembowels him/herself into your hands, you will never measure up to the sheer wealth of a select few old users (Gunmetal, Fleur, etc).
The visible wealth disparity is unreal. Itâs kind of cuteâthereâs this ritual where when a newbie appears in the SB, older users flood them with tu and lovely creatu because they know baby bambi canât make it on their own in modern Res. But what about the invisible users? The 99% who never set foot in the SB? Imagine youâre twelve, creating an account for the first time. Youâre given XYZtu (aka not enough) to start off with. Hatching pets is fun. You like finding clothes for your avatar in the trash. A while later, you become interested in buying more creatu, so you fiddle around with the Creatu Search. And... you realize that the only good rwns are in the 20M+ range.
Actually noâa few weeks ago, a user called prinxess went through the entire directory, cleaned out most lower-priced RWNs, and stuck them in her shop at mark-up. But hey, she left âBlistersâ and âIntrospectiveâ for you.
Thereâs nothing to do on Rescreatu except lord your cool names over other users. Nothing else... except... wait. Isnât the Kir Quest about colors, not names? Which brings me to my next point. Years ago, blondes were worth 700k, and albinos 3M. Players back then threw these cheap creatu at Kir and rode the Uldavian Express to higher Rounds at mach speed (there are 5 Rounds now. each need an additional 120 creatu/points to access). Nowadays, albinos are no longer stocked in ranchersâperiod. Iâm talking chimbies and meragons, not even seasonals. To use myself as an example, I restarted Kir a month ago (I was only at 25 points, Round 1). Iâll be the first to admit I wasnât being 100% efficient with my tu, but within a few days, I managed to add an additional 23 creatu to that number. At the cost of nearly one billion tu. 95% of which went towards beans.
If youâre a newbie with a dream of earning a Cyancu Nest, you need to give Kir 180 creatu total. That isnât just hardâitâs straight-up impossible. From a cost/benefit standpoint, if you do not already have a substantial amount of Kir points, do not touch the Quest. Instead, buy the prize shop items from other users.
Because, letâs do some math. 180 (creatu) x 7,800,000 (price per bean) = 1,404,000,000tu.
I swear on every god out there that, overall, you will not just be spending 7.8M per creatu.
Cyancu eggs are selling for 500M each/1.5B for a nest, pretty close to that mythical 1,404,000,000 number. Just buy the egg.
A staff member once told me, âThe Kir Quest is supposed to be hard.â Fair enough. The original purpose of the Quest was to fix Resâs overpopulation problem. Make higher colors valuable again. But now weâve swung hard towards creatu extinction. The fix is relatively simple. Have Kir ask for blondes/albinos less often. Or increase the likelihood of hatching colors. Should be a simple coding tweak.
Side-note: With beans having become an integral part of Rescreatuâs ONLY real continuous Quest, why are they still cash shop items? People love to tout âbut the site needs money to runâ. How about put out a better product instead of squeezing users with Stockholm Syndrome/a gambling addiction out of more pennies? Actually, not pennies, itâs serious cash. The next promo is $100 for 3 retired CS eggsâa promo which was supposed to be in December, but moved because the higher ups thought users would be too strapped for cash during Christmas.
2. Staff/Culture
Hopelessness makes the newer users leave. Staff corruption poisons the rest. Iâm not involved in current Rescreatu politics, but in the past it absolutely was a thing. Even with generally loved and respected staff members.
I donât want to disclose too much information, but since Iâm old and weary, Iâll say that (without asking for it) a substantial boon was thrown my way because I was friendly with a member of staff. They are still highly regarded within the community.
14BM was unabashedly shady. One day, I announced I was selling a name on the SB and got in touch with a buyer. During our back-and-forth rmailing, 14BM rmailed me to say one of us had âaccidentally hit the report buttonâ which pointed her to our conversation. She warned me the other user was ripping me off, and that she could give me a better offer. Not very professional behavior, in my honest opinion.
Way back when, BillyBob was abusing glitches.
A name appeared in anon-staffâs Showroom one hot second after the person it belonged to was banned for âusing a bot to find eggs.â Anon-staff had previously asked if theyâd ever sell the name and they had said no. Shady.
Real talk. A staff member told me they donât even care if you use bots, just as long as you donât find enough seasonal eggs to ruin the market. I think anything above 40 is considered suspicious. Nevermind if you actually have no life and want to search for eggs for 48 hours straight.
There were way more corruption incidents, but those were so long ago I barely remember them. As for current staff, I canât speak for them. Honestly, I canât tell who most people are anymore because of all the username switching lol. Thereâs this ridiculous implicit rule of âdonât ask what someoneâs username used to beâ around Res. Like hello? That makes no sense. Not only do they retain their unique pets, but really, if someone hated you, a simple change of username isnât going to make them suddenly forget who you are. Similarly, the whole idea of a new username being âa new startâ for the user is frankly hilarious. Especially when you act no different.
Thatâs unfortunately just the start of my issue with Resâs âniceâ culture. Iâll call it by another name: suck-up culture. Itâs this omnipresent force of saccharine sweetness thatâs nearly alive from how many people are hooked up into it. Plenty of users are genuinely nice, I wonât knock that. But damn, when a staff member/older user/wealthbag comes on the SB? Itâs a vicious competition to prove how close they are are with that member. Immediately, there are âglompsâ and âhugglesâ and âweâre married!/best friendsâ as if they actually give a shit about the other person. You do not. I know you do not. Everyone knows you do not. Youâre just trying to get free thingsâand hey, itâs not a bad move, since those users are generally the gifting type. Oh. The cringiest thing is when a fan gives a popular user a cheap present, so the popular user will feel obliged to give them something in returnâhopefully a better something. Machiavelli must be rolling in his grave.
This sugary behavior has somehow infected staff as well. I find it doubly disgusting because I canât even call them out on it.
â<3 oh sweetheart, just so you know, what youâre doing is called spam. [link to rules] please take a look!! :333 ^_^â
â *pops in* haiiiii guys, sorry to bump in but could you please take this convo to rmail? :3 *hugs* squeeeee <333 *hopes you dont hate me* â
Like, fucking Christ. I can feel their phantom arms around me in my sleep. Can anyone speak normally anymore? Does everything need to be qualified with butterflies, sunshine, and overtures of love?
Back to the subject of staff... that issue is multifaceted. First, itâs a weirdly cyclical thing. Notice how newly chosen staff are almost always friends with current staff? I donât believe Iâve ever seen some anon thatâs never visited the SB become staff purely on merit (save for artists/programmers). But I could be wrong. Anyway, users inducted into staff are usually already one of Resâs wealthy elite. I can only speak for the trend Iâve noticed over the years, but A LOT of people become staff as a status symbol. Some also do it because theyâre invested in the site and want to make it better. The two arenât mutually exclusive. You can want to help while liking the boost in popularity at the same time. The real issue with staff is how they are compensated. Getting paid in credits (cash points?) actively increases the wealth disparity in the site. Thereâs a difference between giving someone 100 dollars versus a handful of credits. If someone handed you a hundred dollars, would you use it for rent or on some virtual name tags? Without this choice, staff are essentially forced into one course of action: buy credit shop items, put these items in their merchant shop, sell them to users, rake in tu. Or just sell cp for tu.
Rescreatu doesnât use their staff properly. Iâm referring to writers and artists. There are hundreds of wearable items available, but dressing up an avatar to look forum-fancy isnât the purpose of a pet site. Itâs a nice feature. But I didnât join Rescreatu so I could play dress-up, I joined for the pets, for the battle arena, for the story of it all. Writers, I feel, are the most wasted of all. Does anyone actually read the stories in the books? Does anyone buy books, even? Res should take their talent and invest in proper story lines. They have six writers right now. Come on. Put up a good kidnapping site-wide story involving Xoria and Loyna. Get a competition between Scria users and Reiflem users going. Maybe the story could be Quest-style, with the users voting on how the story moves with their tu. Do something!
...Because this site also needs a tu sink. Desperately. Contrary to popular belief, the Kir Quest isnât a tu sink, it vacuums money up to the top dogs of Rescreatu. You buy 10 beansâwhere are you getting these beans? More than likely, itâs from a staff member selling 70 of them in their shop. IRL right now there are 4 users selling beans: Feather x34, Isolation x30, Umbreon420 x1, Phos x36. Nothing against these usersâin fact, I like them, but do you notice a trend? What do staff do with all this tu? They buy names at premium prices because they can afford to.
Q: Wait, prinx. If you just paid real money, you could have lots of tu too! A: My honor code forbids me from validating freemium games
Q: But, prinx. Why donât you just become staff? A: I tried when I was 13 but they didnât accept me ): Probably for good reason.
Itâs shocking that the stock market hasnât been removed/tweaked yet. It shouldnât be possible to buy 50,000 stocks of FAS for 400k on Sunday, and sell that for 20M one week later. This is another reason why names are considered the real currency on Rescreatu. Their value increases along with the inflation. Itâs the only safe investment you can make.
3. Me
So, my long-winded rant is out of the way. Above, I mentioned Iâd like to apologize for myself, so here I go. For context, these past few months Iâve been trying to get rid of my RWNs through forum auctions. In the latest thread, I stuck in an umbrella clause basically saying that I reserved the right to pull whatever bullshit I wanted, which I used, without warning, to tack 1.2B Autobuy options to the names. Half my reason was I was being egged on by a friend to do it. Half was because I just didnât care. Never in my wildest dreams did I even imagine one person would actually go for it, let alone 3. When I opened the thread the morning after, I felt dread. My actions understandably upset quite a few people. I acknowledge that what I did was unprofessional. I regret it, and Iâve learned a valuable lesson.
In general, Iâve spent my recent years on Rescreatu being rude and abrasive. Trying to tie 14 year old staff in logic knots, picking at overly sensitive members, engaging trolls, the works. Iâve been throwing angsty melodrama around like glow-sticks at an EDM concert, and it isnât fair to the newer members who have no memory of Resâs past.
This post clocks in at 2.5k words. The only reason Iâve written so much is because Rescreatu means/meant so much to me. For all its faults, Res somehow just works. Maybe because it encourages addictive behavior. Maybe because of the community. Whatever it is, itâs helped the site escape multiple waves of peril that wouldâve killed any other. For that it deserves some applause.Â
If you want to contact me, rmail me or email me at [email protected]. I don't bite
Peace.

i didnt want to say this before but man.. Danny kind of.. sucks, at least in the heart of canon. i get that he's young and learns "Those Valuable Lessons" and but people dont acknowledge most of this douchebag's shitty antics cause he's a cute boy or whatever. although Danny has a very excellent premise for a character, he is sincere sometimes, but overall its not executed well. he falls into too many awful high school tropes
i guess im glad people are making use of his character premise by reading too closely than the show intended, or by making content of their own interpretations. but we cant ignore that he is quite a goddamned piece of hell shit who i fucking hate in the real show sometimes. i feel thereâs just too much emphasis on a character and show that wasnât well crafted and well managed to begin with. its kinda sad when all the hate is somehow directed towards other characters like Sam.
it feels like most people are praising him and the overall show for what they imagine it to be instead of what it actually is. srsly this awful goddamned fuckboy sells stuff garage lab items he aint supposed to just to buy some fucking clothes??? uses ghost powers to spy girls in their locker room?? he fuckin destroys ghost writerâs writing and then doesnt feel sorry about it just cause itâs christmas-related and heâs so pissy about it.
so.. yeah. i dont get why people think heâs literal kid Jesus and always wants to protect this little fucker. he puts himself in alot of mess. the âDâ on his suit stands for âdickâ, bc thatâs what he is. Â i want to beat him up sometimes
Okay.
Normally, I delete all character hate on sight, because the point of my blog is to focus on the showâs strengths and how the weaknesses couldâve been done better. I get critical sometimes, but I like focusing on a charactersâ strengths rather than their poor writing and garbage like that.
This was so long, detailed, and harsh that itâs really hard to ignore. Maybe I should. Stick to my guns and not let some anonymous rant change how I work. You came to me, though, so if you want to debate this, then alright. Iâll bite.
First off, who in the fandom is portraying Danny as a kid Jesus? Maybe itâs just the circles Iâm familiar with, but one of the most reblogged posts that pops up in my notifications is one with a ton of additions arguing why Danny totally deserves to suffer. The majority of the fandom loves tormenting this kid. Even those that do say he needs to be protected never claim he has no flaws. Far from it. They just acknowledge he has it hard for a kid and he deserves a break sometimes.
Second, have you everâŠmet a 14 year old? As someone who spent most of his career life working with kids and who is the oldest of 5 (with one brother whoâs turning 14 this November), lemme tell you that the main trio are saints for their age.
People talk about the terrible twos, but 14 year olds are so much worse. Iâm not slamming them, because it makes sense. Theyâre in a tough transition period between childhood and adulthood. Adults tell them to act more mature, but refuse to acknowledge their voices in serious situations. Middle school and high school are cutthroat places, and one mistake can ruin the entirety of the four-six years you spend there. Theyâre pressured to get good grades or theyâll fail, they have to be part of the cool crowd or theyâll fail, and people are more likely to blame them for whatever goes wrong in their lives than anything that goes on around them.
Doesnât change the fact that they can be little demons sometimes. With all the hormones and drama, young teenagers can be really emotional and make problems bigger than they seem. They can be harsh and judgmental, because thatâs the environment theyâre being exposed to. They need guidance, but they donât want it. They argue with adults and to some, it seems like they want to make their own lives miserable. They can be tough to work with unless youâre willing to take them as seriously as they take themselves, and most people donât want to bother.
There are shitty things Danny does in canon, but thatâs true for literally every fourteen year old. And heck, are you telling me you didnât do some ridiculously stupid stuff at that age? I actually stole money from my folks to buy something I wanted. My group of friends frequently set stuff on fire in their backyards. And fuck, nobody can prove Danny was spying on girls in the locker room. While I think the scene is shit and refuse to accept it as canon, all we see is Danny coming out of the locker room. He couldâve been just looking to see what it was like in there. Nothing says there were actually girls in there. But Iâm so sick of talking about that shit scene, so Iâm gonna leave it at that.
Danny has flaws. He can be selfish and petty and inconsiderate. But really? You wanna beat him up for that?
Are you forgetting that he canonically already does get beaten up every single episode? Whether itâs by ghosts, bullies, his own goddam parents, or whatever, getting beat up is something heâs familiar with.
The reason some fans cut him some slack is because, hey, yeah. He is a kid, and you know what? Heâs entitled to be a dick sometimes. He loses sleep every night, almost dies on a daily basis, has his dreams ripped away from him often, and is picked on at school. Despite all of that, he still fights ghosts to keep his town safe, and heâs under no obligation to do that. He saves lives, even when people hate him for it. He puts himself in danger, even for those who are cruel to him. He tries to use his powers for the right reason more often than not, and heâll take the high road against his bully because he feels like he shouldnât stoop to his level.
We acknowledge that canon can be shit. We acknowledge that sometimes, Dannyâs writing makes him out to be a dick. At the âheart of canon,â though, as you so eloquently put it, heâs the kid who risked his life for a little girl he barely knew that nobody else would miss. Heâs the one who saves the lives of his own bully, the teacher who used to be so hard on him, and the parents he fully believes would cut him open if they knew what he was. Heâs the one who could so easily be Vlad, but instead he tries his best to be a hero.
Youâre under no obligation to like him, and you donât have to ignore the shitty parts of canon like some of us do. I do it just because I enjoy thinking about what the show couldâve been, not what it was. You donât have to do that, though.
But really, are you going to march into your nearest high school and beat the shit out of the first kid you see messing up? Seriously? You honestly think that the mistakes Danny makes outweigh the good heâs constantly trying to do enough that he deserves that? Even when he already gets beat up in every single episode already?
Well, fine. Thatâs your pessimistic opinion. Itâs not fact, though. How many cartoons do you watch? You gonna beat up Timmy Turner and Jimmy Neutron, too? They can be right assholes. What about Jake Long? Heâs a shallow, obnoxious, irresponsible kid a lot of the time. Sure, heâs just 13, but why should we show mercy to kids who mess up? Serena/Usagi from Sailor Moon? Yeah, letâs ignore all the people defending her and just focus on the fact that the show makes her a dumb kid who doesnât have enough backbone to immediately become the savior of the galaxy. Come to think of it, whereâs your rant about Dash Baxter? Or is he not popular enough for you to rag on?
Perfect characters arenât the ones who are the most upstanding. Theyâre the ones who are realistic and flawed. So Danny sells his parents stuff. So he sneaked into the girlsâ locker room. So he took out his anger on an innocent person.
Iâm not saying any of those things werenât wrong, what Iâm saying is that kids make fucking mistakes. And sometimes, theyâre huge ones. Sometimes, kids get curious and break into a house. Sometimes they get hungry at the store and shoplift. Sometimes they lie and cheat and make fun of each other. Sometimes they can be perverted little leaches.
So fucking what? Weâve all been there. We all need to learn and grow.
And seriously, if youâre going to be one of those people who gives Sam a break, donât turn around and start criticizing Danny for the same shitty writing he sometimes gets. That hypocrisy is exactly why I so adamantly defend Sam.
I donât know what you wanted to accomplish with these asks. Maybe you just wanted to vent. Maybe you were looking to stir up drama. Maybe you donât know what you wanted and you just sent these asks randomly without any real reason.
Regardless of what you think, Iâm still gonna enjoy my fucking fictional character, even if I donât always agree with how heâs written. I relate to him, his struggles, and even his mistakes. You have fun ripping on characters people like because you donât think they should be allowed to make mistakes, but let the rest of us have our fun, too. Youâre not helping anyone with this, so maybe just fuck off, mâkay?
Being stupidly nice is kind of my thing, but Iâm tired of putting up with this self righteous crap. Let characters fuck up. Let fans rewrite things they donât like. Let people enjoy their fucking cartoon, because they arenât hurting anyone. Iâve yet to find a single phan who considers the DP cartoon to be completely canon anyway. They enjoy it for the fan content or the few really spot on episodes. Weâre already aware that thereâs shitty stuff in there, and we donât need you to tell us.
If I ever get any asks like this that rip on characters for stupid, petty reasons again, Iâm deleting them on sight. That was my initial plan anyway, but I really needed to say my piece here.
Tumblr, maybe stop being such judgmental pieces of fucking shit, okay? Youâll accomplish nothing good by being so harsh toward anything that doesnât fit your standard of âperfect.â

Buy and Sell Stuff Websites
The down side is that there is an up-front cost associated with this service, and no guarantee that you will find a buyer. After going this route, you may still find that you need to contract a real estate agent which means that you will pay for both this service and the agent's services. To learn how to buy and sell stuff online to make money follow the guide below.
This is a listing of all registered participants - buyers and sellers of the exchange owner company - either by business category or by alphabetical order. An advanced search engine tool can be incorporated in order to find a company based on data provided.

There are high-quality health information websites that offer comprehensive services from symptom checkers to peer-support groups. Despite this, the issue still remains, that aside from those like NHS Choices and Boots WebMD how do patients know which websites to trust? Comprehensive health websites built on knowledge and impartiality such as and Netdoctor and, in the US, the Mayo Clinic , vie for attention among the many forums, blogs and websites providing inaccurate and potentially harmful information.
Many company or business firm sell new car. Day by day individuals are interested buy new car, for this people sell their truck. A car dealership or car local distribution is really a business that sells new or used cars on the retail level, based on a dealership contract by having an automaker or its sales subsidiary. It employs automobile salespeople to accomplish the selling. It may also provide maintenance services for cars, thus employing automobile mechanics, stock then sell spare automobile parts, and process warranty claims. There are several what you require to look at before you purchase a new car.
The big question today, however, is: Will all of Woodman's hard work (and that of his team, shown above accepting an Emmy) pay off when it floats on the market this summer? You can never predict with complete accuracy, but there are certainly many things in its favor. First, and most importantly, the company is already making money, something that puts it way ahead of Twitter, which announced its IPO in September last year. Second, GoPro makes a real-world product. Facebook, that other social powerhouse, and its intangible product famously had something of a stuttered start when it went public Lastly, it's got all the hallmarks of a burgeoning media company, which is no panacea, but it's certainly an area that sets the stage for ongoing expansion. If, somehow, it doesn't work out, though, we hear there might finally be some money to be made in social gaming.
Only problem i see with guild wars 2 so far is the fact that it will be free. Yeah not having to pay is pretty cool. But by having an active account you pay for, you get to a point where you care about it however slightly. This pushes people to act more responsibly and respectfully due to the fact they don't want it banned. Less idiotic childish behavior.
Always buy and sell stuff and ship directly through amazon / ebay. It's about 30% cheaper than going to the post office and much easier. Use media mail when you can (books, DVDs, CDs, etc) and anytime it's under 13oz ship first class. I usually find it cheaper to ship in my own boxes instead of flat rate, but sometimes medium FR boxes come in handy. Order yourself a ton of flat rate padded envelopes. They are about $5.70 to ship an item and you can pack them tight! Also, get yourself a shipping scale and make sure to pack everything tight! You see the posts on the front page about how fed ex and ups deliver items!
Onto the fun part! It's time to build a website so you can sell stuff online. If you're like most budding entrepreneurs and small business owners, you already have your hands full with the day-to-day tasks associated with running your business. You probably don't have time to learn how to code or spend hours teaching yourself how to navigate the back-end of a content management system (CMS). The good news is, you don't have to.
The other cost associated with selling on the Auction House is the AH's cut. This fee is a flat 5% of your item's final sale price. If your item does not sell, the fee does not apply. If your item does sell, 5% of the selling price is automatically deducted from your proceeds. If you're planning to move a lot of merchandise on the AH, you'll want to review all the exact formulae for deposits and fees as well as the variations for neutral-faction Auction Houses.
An important part of furniture restoration is getting rid of oil and grease blemishes. If the marks are small, you can blend in the grease marks by rubbing them with a good furniture wax, then buffing with a clean cloth. To completely remove stains, you will need to strip off the old finish using a good paint or polish stripper, then coat it overnight with a thick paste which combines a talcum powder with methylated spirit. This should draw the oil out of the wood, then you can sand and re-polish the pieces. For valuable pieces and to ensure you don't make any mistakes, it's best to get a professional restorer to do the job.
Sell used car to the companies dealing in purchasing used cars: By contacting such companies, you can sell your property fast and also get the best possible price for your deal. These companies have ready cash and the right professionals for review of the vehicles. You can contact such companies through E-mail or over the phone.

The first step in this kind of business is always keyword research. You need to find small markets which do not have competition. Wordtrack is a very good tool to use for finding niche opportunities. For every keyword, it tells you the number of searches and how many results are found on each search engine. You need to pay special attention to the KEI column. KEI is the index that balances the number of searches and the number of competitors. The more searches and the fewer the competitors, the better for you. A KEI higher than 10 is good, but you should, ideally, look at keywords with a KEI over 100. More than 400 is a gift.
Before selling Rolls-Royce Holdings plc shares you must ensure that you have a valid Rolls-Royce Holdings plcâ share certificate in your possession. If you have a share certificate in the name of Rolls-Royce plcâ then this is no longer valid. You should arrange for a replacement certificate before proceeding.
But my worst Craigslist heartbreak of all was when I made an offer on a stunning MCM table, which was accepted, and an hour before I was scheduled to pick it up with the furniture mover, I got an apologetic email explaining that his dad had offered to store it for him and that he had therefore changed his mind and the table was no longer for sale. Nice. Time for a gin & tonic.
Although we have previously said that it's hard to rank for keywords used by large, well established sites, this shouldn't put you off, particularly if you have a unique product or a USP. On marketplaces, you are competing with hundreds, if not thousands, of other sellers and it can be just as hard to stand out. Instead, focus your attention on developing your own site and you'll have a better chance of attracting those customers who are looking for something unique.
Why Sell On eBay And How Best To Start

Merits Of Utilising Craigslist To Make Money
Many smaller marketplaces have hardly any fees and make it easy to buy and sell stuff online
Overall, there are typically no listing fees and also the lower commission fees may enhance your profit margin 10% or higher normally, depending on where you stand selling
This basically means more profit plus much more room to price your items more competitively
You could sell your items at the same prices when you would another major, more expensive marketplace and take in the extra profits when someone purchases your products
eBay- an empty door to success for everybody
You can use eBay as the second revenue source if you are one of those people that doesn't heat up to the notion of quitting his job. During the week, it is possible to finish off orders after which on Saturday, drive them on the tn post office for delivery. Thus eBay is unrivaled hardly by other things like a source of great revenue; whether you would like to take action full or in your free time.
What's more to buy and sell stuff, eBay doesn't care what you are, in your geographical area, or what you seem like. While other powersellers are advanced in age, other people are very young. Some reside in the back of beyond; a long way away from cities, its keep is little else to perform outside farming except selling on eBay. Unlike in conventional business where folks face many barriers to entry, prospective eBayers haven't any barriers. If you can post things, you're able to do it- there is no appointment and no commuting involved.

I know what you are thinking â LINDSAY DID YOU DIE?
Do not be dramatic, I did NOT die. I decided to take a break (again â lol) to focus on graduating and my post-grad life; which is exactly what I did!
Hello everyone â I graduated COLLEGE!!!! I graduated from Ohio University this past December and I accepted an internship with STEVE MADDEN in NEW YORK (!!!!!). So, here I am chilling in New York; missing you all dearly.
I posted a poll on my personal Instagram asking whether people would read if I started blogging again and basically everyone said YES (wow I love my fans). The answer I got was overwhelming and thank you all for supporting me and encouraging me to continue to do what I enjoy and love. I also posted a suggestion box on posts you all wanted to see; and, again, received an overwhelming amount of responses (heart eyes)!! I plan on highlighting all of these suggestions â donât worry! However, I thought maybe I would begin my comeback with a New York Life blog post â starting in threeâŠtwoâŠoneâŠ
The rumors are true, I AM LIVING IN NEW YORK!!!!! I [momentarily] moved to New York to pursue a sales internship with Steve Madden. I plan on writing more about this experience in a later blog â so stick around!
I am here with my friend Heather who also happens to be working this internship with me â so we are basically BFFs. I will add her Instagram handle below if any of you are curious about her â WHICH YOU SHOULD BE.
So, I have experienced a lot since coming here and I want to share it with you! Donât worry, not in full detail; but I have some fun stories to say the least. So, here is a list of a few things I have done since I have arrived in the big city.
Shopping, walking, and exploring!
Of course I did a little shopping when I got here â sue me. Perhaps you will see these new items in future blogs???? So, yes I did some shopping, but I also have done a lot of window shopping when coming across small and unique boutiques. Boutiques can be expensive, but they all have their own unique vibes. I also live on the same street as the one of the biggest Macyâs. It was considered as the biggest department store up until 2009. I did not buy anything there; but I highly recommend running around because not only does it have everything you could think of, but it is super fun to explore! If you have ever heard of Mango, which may be unlikely since it is based in Europe, then you may get excited to hear that they have one here in New York! While I was in Paris, Mango was my favorite store to shop in and adventure around. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the New York location. Since experiencing the stores in Europe, I was quite disappointed with the store here. It was smaller and did not carry nearly as much stuff as the one I have been in. Donât get me wrong, it was still fun to shop around in, but it was not living up to the full Mango potential. However, if you are ever in that area, I recommend stopping it because you never know what you might find!
Another cool place to explore is Chelsea Market. It has shops, restaurants, and a fun market vibe brought on by different types of vendors selling their art and other creations. Even if you donât plan on buying something, it is still a fun place to walk around and look at. For me, this was a good place to add to my business card collection. When I came to New York, I decided to start collecting different fashion and art cards I can keep to either remember the places I shopped at or potentially shop again. It is a small thing to collect that does not take up much space, but still means a lot; at least to me. Â
Check out this really cute art piece I found at Chelsea Market!
Drag Shows and Bars
I finally got to experience my very first drag show and it was an interesting night to say the least. I went to a place called Lips and experienced a show and an incredibly funny waitress named Delilah. The drinks were in fun spirit and so was everyone that was there! Heather and I even met a bride-to-be that kept photobombing us! So, overall it was a 10/10 experience and I HIGHLY recommend going to one, especially in New York. As for bars? New York has so many options with so many different themes. My favorite bar so far has been the Crocodile Lounge which in my opinion gave me the feeling like I was in college again. The unique part about this bar is that every drink you buy, you get a small ticket that you can trade in for your own miniature pizza. I bet you can see why it is my favorite so far! I have gone to some other bars around New York, but none worth mentioning at the moment. Hopefully I can find some unique ones with the warm weather coming soon!
  My Tourist Adventures
When you come to New York City, especially for the first time like me, you have to visit some of the areas that contain the most history. I have gone to the 9/11 Memorial, Ellis Island, The Empire State Building, Carloâs Bake Shop (Cake Boss ring a bell?), and the Statue of Liberty. I actually had the opportunity to climb to the top and stand in her crown. Unfortunately, I may have experienced an anxiety attack going up and down due to the tight space the stairs had to be. It was a good experience; but because of that little hiccup, it is not something I would do again. However, I am super glad I got to do it! You may have heard, but a new mall opened up called Hudson Yards in New York. This mall is HUGE and I am not exaggerating for once. It has tons of shops, restaurants, and even a really fun and vibrant candy store â which I was more excited to explore than my 12 year old cousin. Outside of the mall is this tall 3-D interactive sculpture that is free to go in and climb. However, when we visited, the wind was incredibly intense that day so we were only allowed to up to the third level. So, if you do visit this vessel â please do â make sure it is on a day that is not as windy so you can experience the whole thing! Something else I recommend is experiencing Little Italy and China Town. The pizza in Little Italy is unbelievable â cough Lombardiâs cough â and the culture in those two areas is something you donât want to miss! You may even be able to find a way to buy a âdesignerâ bag on the cheap while you are there! đ
 Broadway and Shows
I have gone to a total of three show since I have been here and I have yet to be disappointed. Have you heard of Drunk Shakespeare? Well, if you have not then I recommend looking it up and seeing it if you ever come to New York. Not only was it hilarious, but it also had modernized twists to the show which made it easy to follow. There was never a dull moment and the actors and actresses were simply amazing! Another great show was Kinky Boots. The vibrant colors and personalities within the show were extremely entertaining and the storyline was emotionally relevant. The last show I saw was called The Puffs which is related to Harry Potter. However, the storyline takes place surrounding the Hufflepuffs during the time Harry Potter was in school. The show was refreshing and had a humor I personally appreciated. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a show of some kind in New YorkâŠand I donât tend on proving myself wrong!
FASHION WEEK 201 (Last one â I swear)
I am here to pursue my career in fashion so of course I was psyched knowing we would be here during all of the hype of New York Fashion Week. Although we did not get to volunteer or participate in the shows (we asked around), we actually got to go to one! Donât get too excited, it was not one of the super big and popular shows but it was still fantastic. Our friend Sanne, who is from the Netherlands (COOL RIGHT?), took us to the Small Boutique Fashion Week show. This show is probably one of my favorite things I have done here in New York so far. I was literally (and I mean literally) on Cloud 9 during the whole show. Even though I felt completely out of place due to my clothing, it was an incredible experience. When I say I felt out of place by my clothing, I mean everyone else was dressed to the 10s while I still have my in-between college wardrobe.Â
Remember when I said people were dressed to the 10s? Well these guys were dressed to the teens.
 Me, Sanne, and Heather
I have a lot of exciting posts planned and my goal is to post every 2 weeks, so letâs see if I can stick to it! đ Another goal I want to keep working on is regularly posting on my Instagram so not only can you sign up for email reminders on when I post here but you can also follow my Instagram which I will add at the bottom!
Also â if you have any suggestions on some cool things to do during my last month â LEAVE A COMMENT! I already plan on making trips to the Color Factory, Coney Island, a comedy show, a bike ride around central park, and the Central Park Zoo; but I am certainly open to more suggestions! OR you can leave a comment if youâre curious about something I did not mention above because I have definitely have done more than I wrote about! OR just leave a comment for fun! Talk to me!
Thanks for reading!
Lindsay
P.S. Sorry for my bad phone quality! My next posts will be about trends and fashion so I will use my Canon camera! đ

cedric privett: alisonâs first boyfriend in high school; wealthy and sort of bratty but lives more humbly than people might think. is best friends with nate and teased emile for being gay in high school. verbally abusive to alison in high school. is currently a bartender who reads a lot and has to deal with drunken fights at his bar more often than he likes. will probably flirt with you muse a lot.
nate cain: a terrible person. aliâs second âboyfriendâ in high school. took advantage of her in high school and her virginity. physically abused her and verbally abused emile for being gay. hates his parents because they treated him like shit and was in foster homes all of his childhood and early teen years. has bipolar II disorder. is currently djing for money and has a fucked up sleep cycle.Â
Points of interest:
alison: is super nice and bubbly, loves cats and flowers, wears mostly pink, will scrapbook and take a lot of photos, will probably love your muse or grow really attached , can be super self conscious about silly things, pls take care of her.
emile: will probably invite your muse to go hiking or bird watching, loves the rain and succulents, stutters a lot when talking to strangers and does embarrassing things, is tol and can help your muse reach stuff.Â
cedric: sarcastic, speaks in a proper manner, dresses like heâs all that because he can afford nice clothes, has read lots of books, will judge you on your drink choices, always looks like heâs making bedroom eyes at you probably, is fake afÂ
nate: looks done 97% of the time with life, replies in short sentences and in a monotonous tone, looks tired, probably never awake when you are, makes great music though and will call you out if he thinks you listen to trash, curses a lotÂ
What theyâve been up to recently:
alison: living day to day and trying to recover from her past. picking up a lot of hobbies and trying to keep herself busy and healthy ( though she could always use some extra help with the healthy part ). has just been assigned to work on a new fashion line with her aunt ( who owns the company ali works for ) so thatâs been keeping her real busy.
emile: trying to not hate his job but itâs not working but at least his cat keeps him happy. trying to also come out of his shell more and get into the dating scene but thatâs also not working as well. heâs learned a few new knots though so thatâs pretty cool.Â
cedric: not on the best terms with his parents but heâs gotta deal with them anyway, is co-owner of a popular bar, is trying not to remember alison and had to deal with nateâs bullshit even more now since heâs back in townÂ
nate: finally freed from high school and has taken a few college classes online but nothing to get a degree. really focused on making music with other collaborators and is hella enjoying the launchpad he got himself a few years ago. internally denies everything thatâs happened with alison and is skipping out on therapy that heâs suppose to be going to for his conditionÂ
Where to find them:
alison: at her office, at cafes, at fashion shows or charity events, the bar, her apartment, the park
emile: in his office at his fatherâs law firm, outside in park, at the farmerâs market, in his apartment, at a cafe, rarely at the bar but you can try, at marathons bc this boy likes to run, at the train station bc this boy hates to drive and cares too much about the environmentÂ
cedric: at his bar ( the best place ), a bookstore, a restaurant or cafe, at his parentsâ place, at a party his parentsâ are throwing, at an office party he didnât want to go to but got dragged into
nate: in bed, at a fast food place, at a night club or a strip club, at a bar probably getting into a fight, in an alley probably finishing that fight
Current plans:
alison: looking for more models for her clothes or for her photography hobby, sketching, trying to not skip meals, and trying to find her prince charming ( or someone to hook up with and make her feel useful and safe ). is thinking about going to school one day to become a nurse but thatâll have to wait when she has more money saved up.
emile: is also thinking about going back to school bc law is now the path for him but who knows what heâll do ( heâs thinking history ). really determined to get back into the dating scene and meet cute people but social anxiety is an awful thing and he needs lots of patience to overcome it. really wants to get back into hikingÂ
cedric: taking care of nate, trying to please his parents but also trying to piss them off at the same time by having more hookups, is pretty happy with where he is in life though taking care of nate can be real draining
nate: live through the self hatred and make music to keep himself sane, currently in a stable relationship with someone so thatâs always exciting. he doesnât really do much, but heâs living so thatâs good for himÂ
Desired interactions:
alison: more toxic relationships bc she always seems to attract people that arenât so good for her, and i like to cause her pain, old clients or new ones since she does have a harlot verse, gal pals are the best, and ?? really difficult people?? iâve always wanted to see how alison handles difficult people. oh and one night stands bc a girl has needs
emile: more dates, emile crushing really hard on a male muse and itâs possibly unrequited or emile just hasnât had the guts to tell your muse yet and one day he just blurts it out, someone teaching emile how to kiss or hike up his flirting gameÂ
cedric: be his friend and bitch about things with him, try to be his sugar baby and see how far it takes you, call him out for being so fake
nate: former one night stand coming back and trying to get involved in nateâs life even though he has a gf, someone nate got in a fight with recognizing him and trying to get a rematch, roommates au tbhÂ
Offered interactions:
alison: is super helpful and nice so sheâs always willing to help your muse out or keep them company at like a bus stop or something. known to strike up random conversations. will offer to help fix a hole in your museâs clothes if it ever happens ( like a wardrobe malfunction ). likes to try new foods and see new things so invite her out and have fun!!
emile: will tell you lots of stuff about his plants if you ask ( or just nature in general ), is really good at painting and wouldnât mind helping you impress someone you like by painting you a picture and selling it to you, has really good taste in coffee and can help you find the right brew, will let you pet his cat if youâre sad.Â
cedric: heâs pretty good at telling when people have had too much so heâll shut you down real quick if you ask and heâs certain youâre shitfaced, he has a lot of good recommendations when it comes to books, he probably wonât remember you if you told him you guys slept together but you can always remind himÂ
nate: lmao nate never wants to come out but if youâre looking for a fight or wants someone to play video games with nate is your manÂ
Current open post/s:
open tag is here!! mutuals only please.

love in a time of social media
love in a time of social media part one. shance. eventual nc-17. alternate universe. lance is the king of shitposts and selfies. shiro is an artist who loves his dog and fatalistic humor. somehow, they fall in love. warning! underage drinking and casual use of marijuana
.
They meet online.
Specifically, they meet on tumblr. Shiro is an artist of middling popularity and Lance is a shitposter of the highest caliber. Shiro follows Lance months before Lance follows him; indeed, Lance is unaware of Shiro's work until Shiro @'s him in a small comic.
'I couldn't resist,' Shiro types below the image. 'Thank you for the inspiration, @lances-a-lot.'
Shiroâ@white_ironâhas a simple art style and a sharp sense of humor that makes Lance laugh out loud. He reblogs the comic, telling his followers to check it out, and proceeds to creep on Shiro's blog. Lance's first stop is Shiro's small about section.
Hello! My name is Shiro. I am a post-grad history student and I spend my limited free time walking my dog or doodling. art tag doodles photography
Shiro's blog consists mainly of his artwork. Occasionally, Shiro will also post real-life pictures of his dog, a beautiful black and white akita with bright eyes and a dopey smile. There aren't any pictures of Shiro himself. Lanceâwho takes roughly a thousand selfies every dayâcomments on this oddity to Blue, his enormous gray long-hair.
Blue blinks at him.
"My curiosity has been piqued," Lance replies primly.
Blue blinks her big gold eyes at him again.
"Enough of your judgement!" Lance over-dramatizes. "I can follow who I want!"
Shiro's blog is twenty-four pages of self-produced content that Lance blazes through in less than an hour. There are no reblogs. Lance nearly twitches at the restraint andâafter a momentâdecides to check if Shiro's likes are public.
"Jackpot!" Lance crows when the page loads.
Shiro's likes are a riot of memes and shit-posts. Art references and how-to's. Nerdy history jokes. Links to academic articles. Male fitspo. Healthy recipes, juice cleanse tips, and over-indulgent foodie pics. NSFW gifs of twinks writhing open-mouthed on rumpled sheets. Pictures of space and nature. Lots of dogs. Several of Lance's selfies. More than one necromancy pun. If it is at all possible to fall in love with someone based on their likes, Lance does it.
Lance's infinite scrolling comes to a halt at half past one, when his one of his many phone alarms notifies him of the time. Lance groans, closes his browser, and hauls his butt out of his narrow bed. It takes him a couple minutes to find an acceptably clean pair of skinny jeans and an unwrinkled sweater; he hasn't done laundry for several weeks.
"After lab," Lance tells Blue as he wriggles out of his worn sweats into his socially acceptable denim. "I'll do a load tonight."
Blue flicks her tail at him, a rude gesture that Lance returns with one of his own. Blue sends him baleful glance.
"Don't look at me like that," Lance says even as he plants a kiss between Blue's mismatched ears. She lost half of her left ear in a fight before the shelter picked her off the street. "You started it."
Blue meows loudly and bats Lance's nose.
"Okay, okay, you're right. I started it." Lance presses one more kiss on his cat's skull. "Have fun bird-watching. I'll see you later."
Thenâwith his good-byes saidâLance grabs his notebook-laden satchel, and is out the door.
.
Lance's lab is as much of a challenge as it always is. Lance is good at mathânumbers and variables are easyâbut his brain refuses to wrap around the concepts of physics. It's a small miracle that Pidge is his lab partner; without her, Lance is certain he would fail.
"You're a lifesaver," Lance gushes as they leave the old building. "Let me buy you pizza to show my gratitude."
"I told Matt I'd have dinner with him," says Pidge. "His roommate is going through some sort of clean eating phase and it's driving him nuts."
"He can come," Lance says. Then, less magnanimously, "But he has to get his own slice."
Pidge rolls her eyes as she texts her older brother. Lance shoots a text to Hunk, who responds with a single thumbs up emoji. They all meet at less than ten minutes later at the off-campus pizzeria that sells by the slice. Lance gets three for himself and two for Pidge; Matt, who is the only person over the age of twenty-one, covertly buys a pitcher of beer that they pour into their small, plastic water cups.
"Sweet, sweet, processed goodness," Matt half-cries as he chews, his mouth filled with cheese, pepperoni, and grease. "How I missed you."
Lance would be more sympathetic to Matt's dilemma if the man hadn't embarrassed him in a game of beer pong at a sorority the week before. Lance can't prove it, but he knows in his heart of hearts that Matt cheated. Nobody beats Lance at beer pong, okay. Nobody.
"That bad?" Pidge grins.
"You have no idea," Matt bemoans. "LikeâTakashi's a great dude, don't get me wrongâbut when I found him on Craig's List I was more worried about being murdered in my sleep than I was about weird diet habits. Turns out I should have been more worried about the diet habits. Our fridge is filled with kale. Kale, Kit-Kat. From the farmer's market."
"Kale is really good for you," Hunk interjects.
"That's what Takashi said," Matt mutters. "I don't know how much longer I can go on like this."
"Hasn't it only been three daysâ"
"An eternityâ"
Lance laughs at Matt's plight and, once dinner is finished and the four of them part ways, he takes out his phone to tweet about the roundabout retribution.
Lance @lancesalot #revenge is best served blanched. or in a smoothie. #kale #healthyliving #karma
.
It's a little past nine when Lance returns to his apartment. His roommate, Rolo, and his ambiguously defined girlfriend/partner-in-crime, Nyma, are sitting on the couch sharing a joint. A bag of popcorn is ready on the battered coffee table and the television is playing an old nineties buddy-cop flick.
"Hey," Rolo says, smoke curling upwards from his mouth. "Wanna join?"
"Nah." Lance turns down the proffered joint with a shrug. "Gotta take my laundry down. You feed Blue?"
"Like she'd let me forget."
Blueâwho is perched on the windowsillâreleases a single, plaintive meow. She has no problems letting anyone know what she wants and when she wants it, especially when it comes to being fed.
"Thanks man."
"De nada."
It doesn't take Lance long to gather his dirty clothing and stuff it into his hamper. He takes it all to the basement, throws a few loads in, and settles into one of the old armchairs that have accumulated in the corner. He knows that he should read ahead for his classes, but the siren song of social media grips him. An internal debate rages inside him for all of three seconds before he opens his tumblr account.
Lance barely feels the twinge of guilt.
There are several asksâall anonymous, as per usualâand one unread message. Lance is a little surprised by the latter; after a few weird encounters, he changed his setting so that he could only receive messages from people he followed. He clicks on the conversation first.
white_iron Thanks for the follow! I'm really flattered. You're one of my favorite blogs.
Lance smiles at the message.
lances-a-lot no problem!!! ur art was super funny i laughed at everything pretty sure my cat thinks i'm crazy now
After hitting send, Lance plugs in his chunky headphones into the audio jack. He has a new chillwave playlist that Pidge gave him, but he knows that if he doesn't give Tycho his full attention Pidge may murder him. So instead, Lance pulls up his trusted Rihanna compilation and double clicks on the first song. He bops his head in time with the beat and opens his asks, quickly answering his anons.
Several chart-toppers later, a small ping interrupts Rihanna's plea for the dj to turn the music up. Lance looks at the vertical line of icons on the side of the page and sees that he has another message from Shiro. Lance opens the conversation immediately and reads:
white_iron My dog already knows I'm crazy.
white_iron sent a photo post.
A small preview image has been loaded into the conversation. It is a cartoon version of Shiro's akita, her expression morphed into one of extreme judgement. Her eyebrowsâtwin dots of white on her dark faceâare low over her big eyes and her ruff is fattened comically around her muzzle. Lance cannot help but laugh at the exaggerated accuracy and immediately reblog it.''
lances-a-lot OMG THATS FANTASTICâš THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT BLUE DOES
white_iron Stare into the depths of your decrepit soul and find you wanting?
lances-a-lot haha, yes! blue acts like i dont spoil her rotten shes such a princess
white_iron I definitely know how that goes. Bee has three dog beds, but she insists on sleeping in my bed or in my roommate's.
lances-a-lot blue has peed in every. single. bed i bought for her i stopped trying after awhile it was getting to be an expensive exercise in futility
white_iron Two words. Dog toys.
Lance talks to Shiro for the next couple of hours while his laundry finishes. Mostly, they swap stories about their pets and commiserate about their less than desirableâif not inadvertently hilariousâbehavior. Lance even tells Shiro about how he rescued Blue. In turn, Shiro talks about the process he had to go through to adopt Bee. Shiro mentions that Bee is a service dog; what for, he does not say.
Don't be that asshole, Lance reminds himself as the topic wanes. His comfort is more important than your curiosity.
Lance is having such a good time talking to Shiro that he barely notices midnight pass. In fact, if it weren't for the enormous, jaw-cracking yawn that his body produces, Lance would not have noticed at all.
lances-a-lot dude i just noticed what time it was like i could seriously talk about blue forever but laundry sleep ADULTING i have calc at 8 am, ugh kill me now
white_iron Tell me about it. I have to TA an 8 a.m. class.
There is a small pause. Lance gnaws on his bottom lip as he watches the ellipsis that indicates typing flicker in and out of existence.
white_iron Talk to you tomorrow?
Lance bites down harder on his lip. Normally, he would send back a quick affirmation before logging off, but his interaction with Shiro feels different than the interactions he's had in the past. Their chemistry is undeniable and their conversation never felt flat or stilted. Yet while Lance knows he's been lowkey flirting with Shiro, he cannot be sure if Shiro has been flirting back.
Fuck it, Lance thinks as he gathers all his courage and sets his fingers back on the keyboard. He can feel how warm his cheeks are. Just do it.
lances-a-lot its a date ;)
After he sends the message, Lance closes his laptop and jumps off the armchair. He feels jittery and unsure, yet also oddly hopeful that maybe this timeâfor the first timeâhis interest won't be a mistake.

Report of a trip to Japan, September 2016, Buck-Tick related parts
Conversations with Japanese fans, BT cafe, Climax Together 3rd. I know itâs very late. I just want to post something and practice my English. My memories could be wrong.
Osaka, Yousukou Ramen
That small restaurant The Mortal members have been to in 2015. Itâs hidden deeply in the streets of Umeda, difficult to find even with the help of Google Map, it was smaller than I thought it to be, there were only about 10 seats, and I wouldnât say it was very clean inside.
The Ramen was very delicious, I was satisfied with its taste, but one bowl was not enough to fill my stomach at 3pm. Due to nervousness, I didnât say Acchan-chanâs name.
(On that morning, I had much trouble finding a store called Umeda Loft, then the next day I had much trouble finding the live house Umeda Club Quattro, I guess the Feng Shui of that place does not suit my birth time.)
Tokyo, a hotel
I talked to the staffs of the hotel I lived in. One 20 or 30-something staff knew BT, when another staff who looked around the same age as him asked âWhatâs that?â, he answered âOld Visual Keiâ, then praised my taste in music, âvery good, very good. Itâs rare (to see girls like me coming to Japan for bands like BT, I guess thatâs his meaning)â
Tower Records Kinshicho
The Tower Records famous for a whole shelf of BT stuffs. Itâs one the 4th floor (or maybe 3th or 5th I donât quite remember) of a shopping center which is not faraway from the JR line station. If you want to buy BTâs CDs in Tokyo, I suggest you either go there or Tower Records Shibuya.
At the shrine of Morioka Ken, the boards had not been as full as they were in Cayceâs photos.
Sadly I didnât have enough money to buy everything, I already bought many records in Osaka and Kyoto, so I only bought Mona Lisa Overdrive, Sabbat, Minus(-)âs D and the only one Togawa Jun album there (in the J-pop section).
Tower Records Cafe in Harajuku
On September 10th, I went to the Tower Records Cafe. I know there would be many people since the next day we shall Climax Together, but I didnât realize I had to wait for two hours out on the street, but thank for the line of ladies dressed in black I didnât get lost, okay several gentlemen were there, too, there were 40+ year old ladies in Visual Kei style outfits, 30-something ladies with elegant make up, in normal clothes, there were also JKs younger than me and 30-year-old men who looked just like any Japanese salarymen.
I talked to the nice looking lady behind me. She asked about the official translation of Buck-Tick in Chinese, itâs âè±ç«ćž«â, which means âpyrotechnist, it made her laugh so hard, and no, we rarely use that name.
I introduced her to Tumblr. She laughed again when I searched âBuck-Tickâ on Tumblr, photos came out were Acchan, Acchan, and Acchan, âNothing but Acchan!â Then she introduced Tumblr to her friends on LINE as a place to find many beautiful Acchan pictures.
She started another topic: âDo your parents love Japanese music, too?â
âMy mom is Sakamoto Ryuichi-sanâs fan.â
âShe likes YMO?â
âShe hates YMO.â
âOh, then does she like Buck-Tick?â
âNot really, the only BT songs she likes are Jupiter, Dress and Flame.â
âAnyway,â she said, âIâm glad BTâs songs are liked by Sakamoto-sanâs fan.â
It seems Sakamoto Ryuichi and YMO are one rank higher in dignity than all those rock bands.
When I finally got into the Cafe, itâs long past lunch time, I was very hungry. Climax Together 1992 was played on the screen, I felt very difficult to eat my pasta which was not spicy at all despite what was written on their websites while the man I love was singing about despair, pain, madness and desire to die.
Later, friends reported that they waited for 4 whole hours outside the cafe on September 12th, so Iâm the lucky one!
Bar Teranga in Ebisu
Itâs the bar Imai mentioned in his blog, owned by his wifeâs sister Akane, who is also an indie musician. Itâs hidden in the streets of Ebisu, on the third floor of a building, with only one tiny signboard outside.
I went there for the evil purpose of examining whether she looked as cute as she was in photos, or itâs photoshopâs doing (Iâm not evil enough to think about meeting or stalking BT members, I swear), but I didnât see her, that night only the male staff Takizawa Ryo was there, he is an indie musician, in 2012, some fans got extremely angry (Iâm not sure why) after they found that the BT charity bags were sold at his concerts...but it has already passed, Imai has explained in his blog, Cayce has posted on her blog, so Iâll stop here.
The bar was small, gothic style, there was a wall full of Jrockersâ signatures, including all members of BT, Aki from Sid, Motokatsu, someone from Dâerlanger, someone from Merry, Sakurai Ao maybe, and so on, I said âsomeoneâ and âmaybeâ because I couldnât decipher their signatures which were all so artistically written. Only Shirosaki Jin, the big fanboy and former NO.1 host wrote readable kanjis. I heard there was also one written by Die, of dir en grey, but failed to find it. Aside from signatures, they also used Jrock magazines and BT tour goods as decoration, you can find BT stuffs even in the toilet. The Sakurai Drops box is surprisingly small.
There were three customers when I entered the door, all about 40 years old, two ladies, one gentlemen. I sat down, ordered curry rice and beer in English, the two ladies said âOh, foreigner?â Then, one of them said:
âBut why this bar... Bakuchiku fan?â
â...Yes.â I answered.
They gave me a very warm welcome by screaming and shouting.
âDo you speak Japanese?â
âOnly a little.â
âYokohama Arena?â She tried to speak very slow.
âYes, but my seat is terrible.â
âWhoo, you come to Japan for a concert!â
âUh...I came for sightseeing.â
âBut your main purpose is the concert, isnât it?â
And yes.
We talked about BT, Visual Kei and Jpop. âItâs amazing that Japanese music has influence on other countriesâ people.â they said. Later, they began talking about baseball, Johnnyâs idol groups, and the coming Visual Japan Summit (finally I remember that name).
The curry rice was nice. One of the ladies drank so much High-ball but her face didnât change a bit, I envy people like her.
I left before all three of them, âGood night! See you tomorrow in Yokohama.â The Japanese fans said.
(Small information:
There is a bar in Minatoku, Tokyo, owned by NAO (BY-SEXUAL) and BTâs former manager Kojima, the name is âAzabu Kyuubanâ, or âAzabu NO.9â in English. Many Jrockers had been there, including members of BT, Glay, Plastic Tree, Golden Bomber, Kishidan, Nocturnal Bloodlust and so on. Some BT fans love to go there after the Budoukan show, so if you want to go there that day, too, remember to pre-order.)
Yokohama Arena
There are big âæšȘæ”ăąăȘăŒăâ and âYokohama Arenaâ words written above an exit of the station, you can follow the ladies in black as well.
I arrived at Yokohama Arena at about 12:30 pm, there was a long, long goods line in the rain, even there were many staffs selling the goods and they were quick, I think I still waited for more than 1.5 hours outside, and when I finally got into the venue, I found there were still many people waiting in front of me. Aku no Hana 2015 remix was played, when Kiss Me Good-bye was over, National Media Boys came, so they must played it for more than once, friends who came later than me reported they heard another album there. I heard almost one Aku no Hana inside the venue, than my turn of buying goods finally came.
It was reported by Japanese fans if you came at 3 pm, you did not need to wait, so I guess at concerts if you donât want the most popular goods such as Sakurai Drops or Acchan eye masks, it will be better if you donât come very early.
After buying the goods, same with many fans, I walked to a nearby shopping center, spent two hours there. One oddity was that, when I went to the toilet in the shopping center, everyone waited there was BT fans, I can tell they were fans because all of them wore either BT T-shirts, or typical bangya clothes such as black lace dress and black high heel boots, one of them wore a Mr. Matsumoto guitar print scarf, that famous one with red hearts.
Then back to the venue, people had already lined up for entering. Passersby looked at us curiously.
Since everyone has already watched the WOWOW video, Iâd better not say too much about the concert itself, so just a few things:
1. Chandeliers were beautiful.
2. Beside me was a middle aged man, he cried during Jupiter.
3. People clapped their hands during the intro of Dokudanjo, itâs a bit hard to learn.
4. I didnât realize Imai played Passing Mountain then, feel ashamed.
5. Imaiâs guitar was so loud (noisy) that I could barely hear Acchan talking, and it was because Imaiâs guitar, not my poor Japanese, Japanese fans have reported same problem.
6. I think you already know that, but the spoken words in Dress are âæ©ăăèĄăăȘăăĄăâ (I have to go, now).
7. Acchan said: âIt must be difficult to see from there, Iâm sorryâ, then turned the stage light to the stage side and 2nd floor seats, fans who were lit up all waved their hands, screamed in happiness to him. He is a very gentle person indeed.
This year I plan to visit Japan again.
I will go to Fujioka, Gunma to see Imai Shouten. But before that I need to learn more Japanese.
Oh, actually this Gunma-chan (with serious bear) is not the first Gunma-chan.
The original Gunma-chan is this:

âIâve come to hate my own creation.  Now I know how God feels.â  Homer Simpson . Now keep reading. THE DAILY GRIND⊠ARE WE THERE YET? Friday, 15 Dec. 2017
I was tired and went to bed early last nite. Â Wuz up at 6:30am when it was still dark out there. Â No special plans for the day except to keep working on my art.
The day began dark and grey after overnight showers and stayed dark until about 2pm. Â We had patches of blue by late day. Â Sunset is about 4:15pm. Â Cool but not cold. Â Got lots of painting done, some exercises, and some selfies.
Christmas always creeps up, suddenly, on me. Â I don't much have any interest in it, at all but one can't avoid the advertising and other events going on. Â Less than two weeks away, now, then it will be over for another year. Â Time goes by very quickly for me, in spite of my loneliness, and Christmas is one of those time markers in my life. Â I have only one close friend and she lives more than 100 miles away. Â I'm pretty reclusive by nature.
Most of you get up to go to work, or to school, each day. Â I don't have to worry about that anymore. Â I have a very small pension and the rent gets paid and I am able to eat and cloth myself. Â Not much left over for anything else, but that's the way she goes.
My point is, I have time on my hands to think about things and one does as one gets older... things like what is important and what is not. Â Food and shelter are always important but, once those are out of the way, one can have a look a life and what one is doing in it.
For me, I have only one close friend who has survived the rigours of friendship for over 40 years now. Â We don't have a lot in common except a history and trust. Â My friend is an older lady than me who has little education, compared to myself. Â But she has the determination and a desire to be helpful to others without being condemning. Â I like that in a person. Â I don't expect anyone to know as much as I do, nor to have my intelligence... something I was gifted with at birth, not for any other reason. Â It's a very difficult life being quite intelligent and having an education... you realize what a horrific mess this world is and how little you can do to change it.

I live in Vancouver which is a nice city. Â It's very conservative and not overly conducive to being an artist. Â I attribute that to the fact that more than 55% of the population is non-white, new immigrants, and conservative by nature. Â Vancouver is more than 50% Asian and New Canadians who are conservative by nature. Â Because of the high Asian population, Western art and culture is not so popular as the rest of the continent. Â Paintings don't sell well here and the market is so poor there are very few Art Galleries in Vancouver now.
We have a public transport system that, basically, shuts down at 1am. Â There are some late, infrequently running, buses but, if you are caught downtown after 1am it will be a very, very, very expensive cab ride... if you can, actually FIND a cab, to get home. Â Some cab drivers will refuse to drive to the suburbs. Â UBER is illegal in Vancouver although there are some similar Asian services if you speak Chinese and have an app. for it.
Vancouver is, also, quite far north so the winter days are quite short and can be quite dreary... dark, wet and cold. Â The sun comes up around 8am and sets just after 4pm. Â A short day if there is no sun. Â If you are feeling a bit down in the dumps, the weather is no help. Â I live here for the mild climate and closeness to the outdoors and wilderness. Â It is a very, very, expensive city in which to live, Vancouver is. Â Most of my income goes to rent and the vacancy rate is close to zero, here.

Absolute rest is not possible⊠ever.  The universe can not end.  Time is change and is an illusion.  It is always now, everywhere, all at once, all of the time. Proof of that is that ANY object MUST be HERE and THERE at the SAME time, no matter how large⊠even a Galaxy.  It is always NOW on both sides⊠here and there, in space,  of the Galaxy⊠all galaxies, everywhere.  Waves can be either physical or electronic.  The duality of the universe keeps it ongoing.  DNA is the battery of life.  When the chains can no longer co-operate, life ceases in the body.  Life, itself, is a duality.  Time measurement is a relativity convenience.)  Time travel is impossible because time is not a place and nothing stays where it was.  One year from now the Solar System will have moved about seven BILLION kilometres through space and will NEVER return to where it was⊠ever.

If you have a religion, I will not associate with you⊠period.  You are a danger to be around.  Yes, I insult religions⊠they are extraordinarily evil.  I said it, I mean it.  You have a right to be an idiot, but not around me.  I have a right to defend myself against the horrors of religion and I will.  Religion is evil.  People who are into religion are, either, brainwashed or extraordinarily ignorant, not very intelligent, a danger to themselves and everyone around them, and must be avoided.  I canât say it enough times.  If you have a religion you are brainwashed or too fucking stupid to associate with.  Brainwashed, or stupid⊠either way you are too dangerous to be around.  Religion is the number one problem in the world.

My experience with the KonMari method (and the life-changing magic of tidying up)
Because I'm a money nerd and a comics nerd, one of my favorite things is when these two obsessions come together in the form of (drom roll, please): financial graphic novels! You might think that's a niche I just invented, but you'd be wrong. I'll admit that financial graphic novels aren't common, but they are out there. I've written before about the comics adaptation of Studs Terkel's Working, for instance. But I also own comic book versions of Think and Grow Rich, The Long Tail, The Alchemist, and Robert Caldini's Influence. My dream project? Collaborating with an artist to create a visual version of my A Brief Guide to Financial Freedom. Imagine how happy I was last week when I stumbled upon The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up, the graphic-novel adaptation of Marie Kondo's hugely popular (and hugely awesome) book on cleaning and organization. I loved The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up when it first came out; I love the comics version even better.
In case you've been living under a rock, Kondo's thesis is that you should only own things that spark joy in your life. Naturally, not everything can spark joy. (Does anyone really get pleasure from their toothbrush or their coat hangers?) But to the extent possible, you should strive to only possess things that give you pleasure. Let's take a quick look at the KonMari method and why it's proved to be popular with so many people (including me). The KonMari Method Marie Kondo is obsessed. She's a clean freak. Ever since she was a little girl, her passion has been cleaning and organizing. She loves to de-clutter. And because she's Japanese, her obsession is tinged with elegance and beauty. Here's a taste: An avid fan of home and lifestyle magazines since kindergarten, I would read a feature on how to put things away and have to try out each suggestion immediately. I made drawers out of tissue boxes and broke my piggybank to purchase nifty storage items. In junior high on my way home from school, I would drop in at a DIY store or browse at a magazine stand to check out the latest products. As I say, she's obsessed. In fact, some of her anecdotes are almost alarming.
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is a fun book, but its core concepts could easily be conveyed in a magazine article or a blog post (like this one). In fact, the concept is better conveyed in a graphic novel than in a regular book! (Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so. The book gets high marks on Amazon, but the graphic novel has a perfect five-star rating.) Just as I believe money management is a psychological issue rather than a logical one, so Kondo feels about cleaning. Success in tidying depends 90 percent on your mindset, she writes. It's not enough for a space to be tidy. Putting things away creates the illusion that the clutter problem has been solved, she writes. But storage is not the answer. The problem persists so long as you have too much Stuff. Kondo claims the real key is to discard as much as possible.
Here are the key components of the Konmari method: Start by visualizing your ideal lifestyle. Think about how you really want to live. What would your home look like? What kind of life would you lead there? (This is similar to how I ask people to think about their purpose in life before setting financial goals.)Tidy in one large push rather than a little at a time. Gradual tidying doesn't solve anything. When you clean in one fell swoop, it's like hitting the reset switch on life.Start by discarding, all at once, intensely and completely. Do not even think of putting your things away until you have finished the process of discarding, Kondo admonishes. If you start putting things away before you've finished purging, you run the risk of getting distracted. Plus, it's only after you've pared down your possessions that you can decide how to best store them in your space.Keep only those things that spark joy. This is the key to Kondo's philosophy. She says that we ought only own things that make us happy. Most advice on de-cluttering focuses on whether items are used or useful. But Kondo argues that this sort of thinking leads us to choose what to get rid of rather than what to keep, and that's backward. She wants readers to handle every item and ask, Does this spark joy? She writes: Keep only those things that speak to your heart. Then take the plunge and discard all the rest. Sounds lame, right? In reality, the advice is surprisingly effective.Tidy by category, not by location. Tidying by location is a fatal mistake, writes Kondo. Instead of cleaning one drawer or one room at a time, instead tackle one type of item at a time. She even recommends a specific order. The best sequence is this: clothes first, then books, papers, komono (miscellany), and lastly, mementosSticking to this sequence sharpens our intuitive sense of what items spark joy inside us.Don't let your family participate. Tidy on your own. Don't consult with your partner, your parents, or your children. Doing so will only cloud things. Work on your own.Once you've finished discarding things and by this, she means selling them, donating them, giving them away, or putting them in the trash only then is it okay to store them. Even then, Kondo aims for joy. She wants readers to store your things to make your life shine. Follow the old adage, A place for everything, and everything in its place. That may mean changing some of your habits. In particular, Kondo recommends storing things standing upright rather than flat whenever possible.Forget about flow planning and frequency of use. Kondo says that most organizational systems are based around how often things are used or how convenient it is to retrieve them. This is a mistake. If you need something, you'll find it and pull it out. It's much more important to make things easy to put away. She writes: Clutter is caused by a failure to return things to where they belong. Therefore, storage should reduce the effort needed to put things away, not the effort to get them out.Eliminate visual clutter. I've always admired the Japanese aesthetic, and a large part of that is how clean everything is. No surprise then that Kondo applies this ideal to de-cluttering. Her advice: By eliminating excess visual information that doesn't inspire joy, you can make your space much more peaceful and comfortable. Only display belongings you appreciate. Don't clutter your shelves and floorspace with knick knacks and notes and piles and so on. Keep things neat and clean. Perhaps that all seems overwhelming. It's not or it shouldn't be. It all boils down to this: Start by discarding. Keep only those things that spark joy. Work first with clothes, then books, papers, miscellaneous, and lastly, mementos. After purging, organize your space for maximum efficiency (and minimal visual clutter). Do this all at once rather than incrementally. You've finished the process when everything is in its place.
Putting Theory into Practice So, how effective is the KonMari method? From my experience, it's awesome. Seriously. When I stick to it, my life is less cluttered and my mind is freer. In January 2015, I spent an entire weekend applying the Konmari method to my belongings. The results were amazing! After three days of solid work, my Stuff was organized in a neat, efficient manner. I'd managed to get rid of (almost) anything that didn't spark joy. The best part was that I've managed to maintain most of this orderliness. Most of it. Last weekend, after reading the graphic novel version of the Konmari method, I decided to make another pass at my Stuff. I spent my Saturday applying Kondo's ideas to my clothes closet and my dresser drawers. It took me three hours, but after I was finished I'd eliminated a couple boxes of clothes and drastically reduced the space I needed to store the stuff I kept. I'm particularly pleased with how much I can fit into my dresser drawers after re-familiarizing myself with the best way to fold shirts, socks, and gasp! underwear. (I've always mocked people who fold their underwear. I'm one of those folks now.) Look at this beautiful image:
I used to store my t-shirts in two messy, mounded drawers (one for cotton, one for wool). Now all of my t-shirts fit into a single drawer and it's easy to tell what's what. Similarly, my sock and underwear drawers used to be disasters. Now it's quick and easy to find what I want.
It does take a bit more time to fold things properly, but I'm okay with that. Actually, I think it's kind of fun to fold my clothes into tiny, tidy packages. After sorting my clothes on Saturday, I spent four hours discarding and organizing books on Sunday. Then I moved on to records and DVDs and compact discs. When I'd finished, I'd packed my Mini Cooper with stuff to sell and donate. This coming weekend, I'm going to apply the Konmari method to my writing studio. It may sound nerdy, but I'm looking forward to it! Conclusion Long-time readers know that I've been on a decade-long quest to combat clutter. Back when I was a spendthrift, I bought a lot of Stuff. When Kris and I were together, our house and garage and workshop were packed to the gills with Stuff. Even while we were married, I started the process of purging. Now, after having traveled extensively with nothing more than a backpack and after having spent fifteen months exploring the U.S. by RV I'm even more motivated to get rid of the things I no longer want or need. It seems like Kim and I are constantly purging. The KonMari method is an excellent tool (or system, if you prefer) to help combat clutter. I'm a fan. I liked it when I first tried it in January 2015. I like it even more now. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up isn't for everyone. If you're naturally clean and tidy, there's nothing new here. If Kondo's keep things that spark joy message causes you to roll your eyes, you won't have patience for this book. But I think that most folks could profit from putting the Japanese art of decluttering and organizing into practice.

The Saturday City: Bangkok, Thailand
Updated: 8/3/2018 | August 3rd, 2018
Chaos. Crowds. Delicious food. Cheap clothes. Wild nightlife.
Bangkok has it all.
The city was founded after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. The new king, Taksin, established a capital in an area that was then called Thonburi. When Taksinâs reign ended in 1782, King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke reconstructed the capital on the east bank of the river and gave the city a very long ceremonial name which became shortened to its current official name, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, the City of Angels. Over the centuries, the city has grown into the metropolis it is today.
When I first visit Bangkok, I didnât like the city. I couldnât wait to get out. When I first came to Bangkok, I couldnât wait to leave. Despite it being a large city, there just didnât seem to be much âto doâ or see. There were a plethora of temples, the Grand Palace, and some malls, but after two days, I was ready to leave and never return. In 2007, I spent one night in the backpacker area of Khao San Road and then left for the beaches.
Iâm not alone in that opinion. Over the years, Iâve met many people who feel the same way.
Bangkok is one of those love or hate cities.
Few, if any, have mixed opinions about it. Bangkok is a shock to the senses.
But, after finding myself there with a job and spending time there, Iâve come to realize Bangkok is a great place. Thereâs a lot to do there.
Bangkok is like an onion. There are many, many layers to it.
And the best ones arenât found on the surface.
I was looking for touristy stuff in a city that lacked touristy stuff. It wasnât until I decided to learn Thai that I found myself on an extended stay in the city. And the longer I stayed in Bangkok, the more the city opened up and I realized that thereâs always something to do here. What Bangkok has to offer is excitement, food, and nightlife.
If youâre heading to Bangkok and want to ensure you get your trip started on the right foot, here are some suggested activities that will help you peel back those layers:
See the Grand Palace â The palace is the official residence of the current monarch (though it is just used for official ceremonies). Check out Wat Pra Kaeo, which houses the 15th century Emerald Buddha, tons of temples, statues, and beautiful reliefs. It costs 500 THB to enter the Grand Palace.
Visit Jim Thompson House â Jim Thompson was a former American spy and silk merchant in Thailand during the 1950s and 1960s. He built his traditionally Thai home in Bangkok and decorated it with beautiful teak wood. He vanished mysteriously in 1967 but now his house is now a monument to traditional Thai architecture. Proceeds from the entrance fee go to help orphaned children.
Explore Wat Arun and Wat Pho â Head to Wat Po to see the famous golden reclining Buddha statue. It costs 100 THB to enter Wat Po. Wat Arun is a gorgeous Buddhist temple on the Chao Phraya River opposite the Grand Palace. It has one main spire and four small ones and is so iconic youâll find it on Thai money. From the top of the main spire, you get to see stunning sweeping views of
Go shopping at the Chatuchak Weekend Market or Rot Fai Night Market â The weekend market is an ideal place to buy anything and everything. This football-stadium-sized marketplace offers the best place to get gifts, find knock-offs, barter, or have some good food. Definitely come here on a Saturday or Sunday to shop around! Rot Fai Market (or Train Market) is an authentic open-air bazaar selling an array of vintage collectibles and memorabilia, from antique furniture to hippy fashion and Mao kitsch. The Train Night Market is absolutely one of the coolest markets in Bangkok. Open at night on Thursday through Sunday.
Watch a Muay Thai fight at Lumpinee Stadium â This stadium just moved to its new home on Ramintra Road and can hold up to 8,000 spectators. If you want to see a Muay Thai fight in the city, this is the place to go. Fight nights are Tue, Fri, and Sat at 6pm. Ticket prices are from 1,600 baht.
Go on a day trip to Kanchanaburi or Ayutthaya â Kanchanaburi is famous for the âBridge over the River Kwaiâ from WWII. This town has a monument honoring those who lost their lives, tons of historical sites, the beautiful river, Erawan National Park and its cascading aqua-colored waterfalls, the Kanchanaburi Elephant Nature Park where you can feed and bathe elephants, and the town itself. Ayutthaya is the old capital from Thailandâs peak kingdom days, which is home to the summer palace and tons of breathtakingly unique temple ruins. Itâs a dusty old town. Since it is so close to Bangkok, itâs a very popular day trip destination for tours. Lots of companies offer trips but itâs so easy to get to, I would simply go on your own by train.
(For more in-depth details on these you can check out my free destination guide to Bangkok.)
At first glance, Bangkok doesnât look like much. Itâs crowded. Thereâs pollution. The traffic is an eternal snarl.
This is something travelers do often. We make sweeping judgments about places by the limited interactions we have with locals, the weather, or some little mishap that happened. We see a sliver of life and create a gospel about it. On the road, you often here people say things like âThe French are rudeâ or âI was in that city. Itâs boring thereâs nothing to do.â
But could an entire people be rude? And maybe it was the personâs actions that got a rude response? Or maybe they are boring and donât really know the city? Maybe they just missed something?
There are a million factors that can make or break a place. I hated LA until I really got to know it. To me, as a tourist, it was difficult to get around and I felt like there was little to do. But the more I visited, the more I realized there was a lot to do. There just isnât a lot of tourist things to do.
Living in Bangkok taught me I had made sweeping judgments based on limited experience. That I had hated a city for the mere glimpse at it and that I really knew nothing at all.
Look beyond your first impressions of Bangkok, and youâll find one of the most exciting and vibrant cities in the world.
