@devine-fem 's comment on my last original post, I can't believe I've never mentioned how much I love Roy Harper before, I should amend that immediately /j
I love like... everything about him. Roy Harper in the golden/silver ages? Absolute baby, I adore him. He had SO much trust in Ollie, and he was a sweetheart! He was the secretary of the Green Arrow fan club! He had a stamp collection! And even as a small child he was SO unhealthy, like my go to panel is this
Which is literally baby Roy willing to sacrifice his life to save Ollie, baby boy was going into that with FULL belief that he was going to die and he did it anyway and there's SO much I could say about that. I love Ollie, I've defended him in so many situations, but holy shit he raised a child to have issues. But little Speedy Roy was the sweetest thing!!! He wanted Ollie to pick him up ice cream!! He was just a little guy, a little fella!!
And then Snowbirds came along and obviously changed the way Roy was written, it was a major turning point for his character because it was really the comic that initially fleshed him out- before then yes obviously he did have his own distinct personality that differentiated him from the other Titans but at the same time that was VERY clearly a point in which he went from being a traditional child sidekick to being Roy. It gave him his own morals, his own struggles, and his own determination. Remember, Roy made the choice himself to get clean, he wasn't forced into it. Obviously Snowbirds has its problems, it was a PSA written in 1971, but also it was sosososososo foundational in developing who Roy is as a character.
There weren't too many comics featuring Roy between Snowbirds and Lian's birth, but they are also so interesting. I'm pretty sure it's Green Lantern (1960) #100 but also I'm rambling and I'm too drunk to fact check so I'll reblog tomorrow if I'm wrong but there's an issue where Roy goes back to Star City and you can SEE his desperation to be a hero, you can see his determination, and it's so beautifully written and in the epilogue Ollie tries to have a talk with him, tries to make amends after what happened and you'd EXPECT that Roy would take that, that it'd be water under the bridge, but Roy has his own agency and he fucking leaves!!! Because he's not ready to make up with Ollie and he has his own agency!!!
And then the second big turning point in Roy's career is when Lian is introduced, and you can SEE how much of an impact she has on him as a character! At the end of The Cheshire Contract Roy says he thinks Lian is gonna change him and he was right! She does! He goes to Ireland and meets Moira and Buttons (I think those are their names? Again, not fact checking this post) and looks after them and that's the start of his development as the "dad Titan", and he loves Lian so much!!
This panel from Rocks and Hard Places makes me SO emotional because he loves her!!! She's the most important person in his life!!! Plus his relationship with Jade is SO compelling to me, because he loves her and he'll always love her and she loves him too (even if a lot of writers have done their best to make that not the case- I love Jaderoy and I will always love Jaderoy)
And he's also generally such a good guy, I don't have the panel screenshotted and I can't remember the issue but there's that New Titans issue where Kory kills someone and she tries to justify it to Roy and he's just like "you don't need to explain it to me" and I wish his friendship was explored with her more because they had SO much potential as friends.
And then and he's SUCH a good mentor figure, like in New Titans #116 which is my go to issue for anything mentor Roy related because it's SO GOOD! He's constantly trying to wind the kids back to make sure they're okay, telling Terra II to not get too cocky, making sure Grant's okay (and the "yeah no wonder I'm in charge" panel when Grant suggests blowing Gar up is my favourite) and expressing genuine concern when Bart attacks Kyle recklessly and I WISH his relationship with Bart and Terra II had more susbstance because it's so good
Then there's the Arsenal Special which is really the comic which explains WHY he's called Arsenal!!! I've made so many posts about this comic and I love it so fucking much because he fucking takes all those guys out with only shit he can find then takes all their weapons and loads them onto himself while giving a badass monologue which, from memory, goes something like "he thinks I was was sent here to kill his daughters. Well guess what, I have a daughter too. So it all comes down to his daughters or mine. Who gets to think their daddy's a hero, or some thing that crawled out of the dirt. Get it through your head, 'cus it ain't gonna be mine". I love him. I love him so much.
Then there's Teen Titans (1996) #12-15 which I recently made a post about but it's a comic I'm SO greatful to have physical copies of because it's so fucking good for Roy stuff. There's so much on how others percieve him- I love the fab five, but they (well, the boys, Donna wasn't in it because she was mourning Robbie's death) have such a derogatory view of Roy. Like Dick's "he's good but not good enough" and Wally's view of him as not good enough to lead (which is brought up again in Titans 1999 secret files), and the constant references to Roy's addiction in that comic. Then he gets his Green Arrow inspired suit (very Red Arrow of you, late 90s) which he brings on to the Arsenal mini, and his whole fascination with the suit because his biggest dream is being good enough for Ollie, he IS way more than good enough for Ollie which was clear even from the end of Snowbirds but my boy has issues, and then Joto dies because of the explosive arrow he fires which IMO should have fucked him up more than it did but it also absolutely did fuck him up at least in that comic and in the Arsenal mini and there's probably more I could link that too but again, I'm drunk.
And then there's the Arsenal mini. Holy fuck I love the Arsenal Mini. it's so fucking good for like, all his familial relations in the Arrowfam in the late 90s. The flashbacks to Dinah and Roy during Snowbirds and Dinah's "the bravest person I ever met was the one who was flawed" speech, that panel of him resting his head on Dinah's shoulder, the fact that that entire story was fueled by his love of Lian, his talk with Connor about Ollie and how Roy never wanted to be Green Arrow he just wanted Ollie to have asked? It's so fucking beautiful and I love it. And the fact that he WAS gonna team with Vandal to save Lian, he's a father first and a hero second, but he thought about it and decided that there had to be a way to be both and he was right!!! He's so insanely good and I love him, he has a reputation of being a bad boy but he is SUCH a hero it's beautiful.
Then comes Titans '99 which I really can't do justice just talking about. He's so incredible in it it's insane. Like his father/son dynamic with Grant is so beautiful to read, he loves that boy!!! He loves that boy like he's his own flesh and blood and I will take no criticism!!! And his relationship with Donna is so painful to read in that comic because he's such a romantic and even though their relationship was gonna fail from the beginning because of the nature of it and because of Donna's reasons for it he still kept on it because he loved her!! He loves her so so much that he's willing to have his own heart broken for her and good god my boy is unwell. Plus it's the peak for Roygarth, their relationship in it is so great and their talk in issue 16 is amazing and I love it, plus Roy's genuine heartbreak at the possibility of Garth being dead just gets me. And while it's overshadowed by Outsiders, there is a lot of Dickroy potential in Titans 1999, Dick being so loving towards Lian with the "yumyumyumyum" panel in issue 1 and him generally just being one of the closest people in Roy's life, plus Roy being one of the only people who are willing to actually call Dick out on his BS and that being the thing that breaks that out of purgatory? Chefs kiss
And who would I be without mentioning Green Arrow 2001. I'm tired now so I'm not gonna talk about Archers Quest but I can't not talk about Boys Night Out because!!! He's so good in it!!! His speech to Connor that sounds SO much like a coming out acceptance speech, taking Connor to a bookshop despite his own boredom because he wants Connor to have a good time, the brotherly teasing while Connor's driving, him calling Connor out and supporting sex workers, him protecting Connor... it's the perfect issue. Anyone who hasn't, please read Green Arrow (2001) #32, it's so fucking good I promise.
And finally (and I mean finally as in I cba to talk about Red Arrow because I'm getting sleepy), Outsiders which is. So fucking good. Oh my god. Like him forming a team just to help support Dick through Donna's death, the fact that once again he's underestimated but this time Dick stands up for him, him getting shot and getting PTSD because of it (Oursiders 2003 #11 love of my life), everything that happens in this run is SO FUCKING GOOD AND I LOVE ROY HARPER!!! And for once he actually stands up for himself when he's called a junkie!!! He punches Dick in the face!!! As he fucking should king!!! And issue 45 (I think?) Is the best because it's. So good for him and Lian. His protectiveness over her, his love for her, and her being able to see when he's not okay. Beautiful outstanding and incredible.
In conclusion I LOVE Roy Harper because he's the best dad in the world, he loves everyone so much and will never stop, and he's just. Such a good person. I love him. I love him a lot.
#roy harper#speedy#arsenal#drunkposting#again nothing in here was fact checked I'm going purely off of memory so apologies for any inaccuracies

Not a request! I just wanted to talk about the boy. I kept thinking abt Arven when listening to Everything She Wants by Wham. Not because I think hed relate but because he'd probably hate the song to the core. It was probably reminiscent of his parents' dynamic with each other. That and George Michael would be a great voicecast for Arven cause retro guys with blonde hair and a dramatic air to them??? Cmon!!!! I just know he has a smooth voice. Its not soft or inaudible either, I just think his voice would be a little breathy and velvety. Not to mention if you heard those noises wantonly oh arceus
OOOOO I like this. Again I still think j groff is the best fancast but I can absolutely hear George Michael!!!
Also leave it to THE catbed0 to inspire me to write. This is small and dumb but I hope it makes someone laugh.
Thoughtless Murmuring
Arven x reader, arven pissed you off and he's gonna try to do something about it. No gendered pronouns used to describe reader
"Hey! Hey, over here!" Nemona waved frantically from her booth in the corner of the bar as you and Arven entered.
The moment you saw her, you turned and made a beeline to her, completely disregarding your boyfriend who seemed to unsuccessfully reach for your hand.
You plopped down into the booth with a huff, displeasure evident on your features.
"What's got you upset?" Penny asked as she sipped from her drink.
"Don't wanna talk about it." You retorted, biting back most of your current frustration.
Nemona and Penny shared a look between them for a long moment before shrugging and letting the subject drop, so they could return to their previous conversation.
Just being near them helped dissipate some of your anger, and slowly you began to relax and join in.
That is, until Arven returned from the bar, a drink in each hand. One for himself and one for you.
You took the glass without a word or a look, and promptly went back to ignoring him, much to his dismay.
"So..." Nemona asked, trying to keep things cordial. "Think you're up for karaoke tonight?"
You rolled your eyes at the thought. "Absolutely not. No one ever sounds good doing karaoke anyw-"
"Up next," The DJ interrupted you over the speaker. "We have...Arven! Come on up, Arven! Your song is queued and ready to go!"
You let your head fall into your crossed arms on the table with an exaggerated groan as your boyfriend gave Nemona and Penny a grin, standing to go over to the karaoke stage.
He took the microphone in his hands and nodded to the DJ. Only then did the music begin, a saxophone solo reverberating through the bar.
Arven crooned the opening melisma before the lyrics began in earnest. True to form, he didn't sound exactly like the original artist (how could he anyway without a studio? Karaoke isn't fair.), but he did a good enough impersonation that folks nearby shouted their approval.
He sang a line about taking your hand and leading you to the dance floor, going as far as to leave the stage, mic in hand, to reach for you, but you huffily turned away, not playing his stupid game.
Arven wasn't deterred, continuing to sing through the chorus, lamenting that he'll never dance again due to his guilt.
Through the instrumental breaks, the crowd cheered him into dancing those stupid dances his does in the kitchen sometimes, where he sways his hips in a rocking kind of motion that's anything but sexy, but with this song? Ugh. What a fucking ham.
You hid your face again, having momentarily forgotten your anger while watching him.
Nemona and Penny were both enraptured by the performance as Arven belted out lyrics meant just for you about how he'll never get over his guilt.
The crowd yelled for more as the music eventually faded, and Arven took his bow, returning the mic to its stand.
He slid back into the booth next to you, jostling you playfully. "C'mon... You can't be that mad after a performance like that."
"Really!" Nemona agreed enthusiastically. "What'd he do anyway that's got you so pissy?"
You grumbled into your arms.
"What was that?" Nemona asked. "Speak up."
"He stole my fucking garlic bread."
---
(if it wasn't abundantly obvious, this is the song he sang lmao)

CARBONNE - "IMAGINE"
youtube
Anxiety, via romance, via rap, via flamenco, via Spain, via France, via TikTok...
[6.00]
Wayne Weizhen Zhang: There’s not one factor that makes this the French tube de l’été; it’s a perfect smattering of smaller virtues. Carbonne, a relatively unknown Montpelliérain rapper turned TikTok hit maker, doesn’t really seem to know what to do with his overnight fame, but it does seem clear that his 5+ years in the industry have allowed him to crystallize a sound informed by Southern French rap, Euro-pop, and Spanish guitars. “Imagine” is also a summer smash because it’s about the high and low expectations of the season. On the one hand, Carbonne’s girl is dreaming of drinking Portuguese wine beneath beach umbrellas and traveling the world; on the other hand, Carbonne is paranoid about the relationship falling apart at any moment. People everywhere on the internet seem to relate, making pop, reggae, rock, and of course sped-up versions of the track. What they're really doing, though, and the real reason this is the song of the summer, is shouting the monstrosity of a chorus together in a group, just like in the studio recording. [7]
Kylo Nocom: Three years have passed since C. Tangana made his bid for recognition through the artsy cosmopolitanism of El Madrileño. Despite the occasionally embarrassing excess of that album's cinematic gestures, Tangana's subsequent Tiny Desk Concert succeeded by highlighting the plethora of collaborators singing and clapping together. Carbonne's "Imagine" is on a similar wavelength: not only is it in the flamenco fusion vein Tangana previously mined, but its success was aided by a TikTok video highlighting his friends singing along to a hook primed for virality. The track is an outlier in the French rapper's catalog: prior releases flirted with house and 2-step crossovers between stretches of fairly standard pop-rap. But the song is contemporary with artists who similarly track in Andalusian musical influence, such as TIF; the pivot has the slight stench of marketable novelty. While it's too early to tell whether the success of "Imagine" will result in a hard launch of Carbonne as a Proper Artist, his actual rapping is fairly disposable. Still, though, those gang vocals aren't nothing; one of life's greatest joys is singing a song alongside the person who wrote it. [5]
TA Inskeep: Carbonne sounds like a perfectly nice boy rapping over flamenco guitars and handclaps with all of his friends backing him on the chorus, which is exactly the problem. There's no push here, no pull; "Imagine" just dully exists. [3]
Nortey Dowuona: Rodolphe Babignan, a flamenco musician from Paris, plays the guitar lines that thread this song. His guitar is exciting and smooth: chords played slowly during the verses with little licks trickling from each side of the mix, lilting during the second verse before settling into the first pattern, then clustering and swirling around the soft drum programming. Babignan's bridge licks feel so bright and bubbly that the loud group chant of despair and paranoia, the flip side of love, barely registers unless you are paying attention. [8]
Katherine St. Asaph: There's a loud banger trapped beneath the arrangement, thumping at the walls to break free. Carbonne is coolly determined not to let it. [4]
Jonathan Bradley: Montpelier rapper Carbonne isn't a reggaeton artist, but "Imagine" draws some influence from that sound: the murmured vocal is reminiscent of J Balvin's conspiratorial cadence, for instance, and this lively flamenco guitar figure would sound great over dembow. It could almost suit a sidewalk café or chic wine bar too, but the lively handclap rhythm keeps things from becoming too genteel. The heady whimsy is apposite, though: Carbonne, caught in a reverie of travel and romance, knows a girl who hopes to run away with him, and he seems troubled by how attractive the idea is. [7]
Ian Mathers: I'm always relying on the translations of others for these, but there's just something so intensely romantic to me (especially in context of the rest of the lyrics) about "we're talking about living facing the sea, I can see that she's not a homebody." The whole song is this combination of being swept up in love with someone and imagining life and travel together, with maybe even an implication of being willing to leave one's own comfort zone for the beloved's sake, while at the same time being the kind of person who is immediately suspicious of losing what possibly feels like undeserved good fortune (or maybe I'm projecting). That heady, queasy seesaw between feeling on top of the world and borrowing trouble from a possible future, over such a sunny, pleasingly busy arrangement, hits surprisingly hard. [8]
Brad Shoup: These last couple weeks some apropos Lloyd Banks lines have been going through my head: "Her panties wet over fame, fell in love with my chain/I wonder if I wasn't an entertainer, would she remain?" I mean..... no???? "Wanna Get to Know You" is a perfect single for many reasons, one of which is that it captures the anxiety of the famous himbo. The swaggy yet devout 6'5" tight end, the regional rapper with the fresh advance, the belovedly bewildered streamer whose aesthetic scale stretches from epic to so cursed, bro: guys who have devoted every waking minute to becoming what people want them to be, suddenly wondering if they're loved for the right reasons. I adore that shit. I also adore flamenco pop, with its combination of hazy sensuality and technical rigidity. Carbonne repeatedly swamps the standard flamenco vocal interjections with a bro chorus that sounds like a terrace chant, or maybe a broker protest. The compás clicks like a countdown, as the singer grapples with a girlfriend who seems to like him for him. The title lands, at the end, like a punchline. [7]
Alfred Soto: Justin Bieber, meet flamenco. [5]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: At first, I suspected that I'd find this bauble of acoustic hip-hop much more annoying if it were in a language I understood — but even after reading a translation I find it breezy and inoffensive. That I like it as much as I do is perhaps an appreciation for Carbonne's ability to meet the moment: this is just as frothy and light as it needs to be, unburdened by the need to make much of a point. [6]

"Friends Friends" is a band with a focus on creating music that seamlessly explores a huge range of styles. Some groups are quite stuck in their definitions. However, others are keen on setting the bar higher and looking for new creative ideas. Each member of the band has their own sonic space in the mix, and "Nobody's Sorry" is a great combination of their respective skills and artistry.
This is the first release for the Portland-based group, and it is a great introduction to what their sound is all about. The EP features six tracks, each bringing something unique to the table and adding more focus to the release overall, making for a truly dynamic and one-of-a-kind set list with so many different influences. These songs capture the essence of indie-folk, but there's also an edgier approach with a gritty edge commonly associated with great alternative music. The opening song, "Showerbeer," is a catchy and upbeat track with a punchy tone and a wall of fuzzy guitars, reminiscent of artists such as Dinosaur Jr. or Dead Rituals, only to mention two. The song is upbeat and playful, with relatable vocals and a bright tambourine rhythm to enhance the main drum kit. There is also room for a blistering guitar solo, which would definitely make J. Mascis nod in approval! Despite the fuzziness, this song is a tuneful pop gem with some sharper edges that make it all the more exciting!
The following song, "February 28," is another example of the band's diverse artistry. By contrast with "Showerbeer," this is a more intimate and laid-back track. It begins with a clean electric guitar arpeggio and some stunning suspended chords to add color to the background. The reverberation effect creates a very ethereal vibe, making for a very earnest and emotionally powerful composition. The dynamics are also very wide, in the vein of classic albums such as Grace by Jeff Buckley, but with a more understated indie rock aesthetic.
The third song on the album is titled "Secondhand." This track also offers a crunchy, melodic, yet dirty sound with a mid-tempo groove. The drums are particularly punchy and fat, driving the arrangement and locking in perfectly with the swirling guitar riff. The vocals are very subdued and soft-spoken, but the singer knows when to stand out and ramp up the intensity of her delivery. The release continues on with the fourth song, "Neighbors."
This track begins with the rhythm section. The bass has a groovy thump, which works so well with the shaker and the driving drums. The guitars provide color and extra nuance, not only through sparse chords but also through some noise effects that add a more organic touch. Eventually, the guitars become even more prominent in the mix, especially adding more texture to the pre-choruses and chorus parts. The fifth song, "Metamorphosis," brings some of the work's catchiest guitar parts to the forefront. The two guitars in the intro harmonize beautifully, and the rhythm in the verses has a really percussive and unique tone. The drums keep a steady flow, but there is also room for additional percussion, such as shakers and woodblocks, to bring something unique to the mix.
Last but not least, the album comes to a close with "No Woman," a stunning 3/4 tempo rock ballad with an incredible layering of vocal parts and a nostalgic, emotional feel. The vocals are so powerful in this song, showcasing the singer's beautiful range.
Ultimately, what sets 'Nobody's Sorry' apart is the band's unique ability to blend a variety of stylistic references, showcasing versatility and musicality. This EP is a testament to their skill in blurring the lines between different influences, creating a sound that is uniquely their own. The EP has a very organic sound, and the production highlights the natural quirks of the musicians rather than overly polishing the music. Many indie rock records of the current period tend to have a rather aseptic sound with too much studio trickery. However, this record stays true to the natural intensity of the band's performances.
The songs on the album are very purposeful yet instinctive and raw. "Nobody's Sorry" is adventurous and nuanced, alternating between sophisticated musicianship and back-to-basics aesthetics, with a nod to punk and the grittier side of alternative rock with a 90s flavor. There's confidence and elegance in the tracks, marking the band's vision and ability to seamlessly combine numerous influences into something quite unique and evocative. The EP's introspective outlook also allows the band to test the limits of its formula, sometimes pushing way beyond what people might expect with clever yet seamless ideas. What makes this release stand out is that it sounds like a genuine portrait of passionate musicians playing in a room. Many rock bands tend to sound a bit too overproduced these days, leading to a sound that might feel uninspired or too sterile. However, Friends Friends has a strong focus on authenticity, and it really shows from the material! Not surprisingly, the group is particularly well-respected for its live performances, which allow them to bring their music to the audience on a more direct level.
Friends Friends' new release, "Nobody's Sorry," is highly recommended if you are a fan of artists such as Bon Iver, Neutral Milk Hotel, Courtney Barnett, Francis Moon, and Joni Mitchell, only to mention a few.
Find out more about this talented group, and do not miss out on "Nobody's Sorry," which is currently available on the web's best digital music streaming platforms.

Report of a trip to Japan, September 2016, Buck-Tick related parts
Conversations with Japanese fans, BT cafe, Climax Together 3rd. I know it’s very late. I just want to post something and practice my English. My memories could be wrong.
Osaka, Yousukou Ramen
That small restaurant The Mortal members have been to in 2015. It’s hidden deeply in the streets of Umeda, difficult to find even with the help of Google Map, it was smaller than I thought it to be, there were only about 10 seats, and I wouldn’t say it was very clean inside.
The Ramen was very delicious, I was satisfied with its taste, but one bowl was not enough to fill my stomach at 3pm. Due to nervousness, I didn’t say Acchan-chan’s name.
(On that morning, I had much trouble finding a store called Umeda Loft, then the next day I had much trouble finding the live house Umeda Club Quattro, I guess the Feng Shui of that place does not suit my birth time.)
Tokyo, a hotel
I talked to the staffs of the hotel I lived in. One 20 or 30-something staff knew BT, when another staff who looked around the same age as him asked “What’s that?”, he answered “Old Visual Kei”, then praised my taste in music, “very good, very good. It’s rare (to see girls like me coming to Japan for bands like BT, I guess that’s his meaning)”
Tower Records Kinshicho
The Tower Records famous for a whole shelf of BT stuffs. It’s one the 4th floor (or maybe 3th or 5th I don’t quite remember) of a shopping center which is not faraway from the JR line station. If you want to buy BT’s CDs in Tokyo, I suggest you either go there or Tower Records Shibuya.
At the shrine of Morioka Ken, the boards had not been as full as they were in Cayce’s photos.
Sadly I didn’t have enough money to buy everything, I already bought many records in Osaka and Kyoto, so I only bought Mona Lisa Overdrive, Sabbat, Minus(-)’s D and the only one Togawa Jun album there (in the J-pop section).
Tower Records Cafe in Harajuku
On September 10th, I went to the Tower Records Cafe. I know there would be many people since the next day we shall Climax Together, but I didn’t realize I had to wait for two hours out on the street, but thank for the line of ladies dressed in black I didn’t get lost, okay several gentlemen were there, too, there were 40+ year old ladies in Visual Kei style outfits, 30-something ladies with elegant make up, in normal clothes, there were also JKs younger than me and 30-year-old men who looked just like any Japanese salarymen.
I talked to the nice looking lady behind me. She asked about the official translation of Buck-Tick in Chinese, it’s “花火師”, which means “pyrotechnist, it made her laugh so hard, and no, we rarely use that name.
I introduced her to Tumblr. She laughed again when I searched “Buck-Tick” on Tumblr, photos came out were Acchan, Acchan, and Acchan, “Nothing but Acchan!” Then she introduced Tumblr to her friends on LINE as a place to find many beautiful Acchan pictures.
She started another topic: “Do your parents love Japanese music, too?”
“My mom is Sakamoto Ryuichi-san’s fan.”
“She likes YMO?”
“She hates YMO.”
“Oh, then does she like Buck-Tick?”
“Not really, the only BT songs she likes are Jupiter, Dress and Flame.”
“Anyway,” she said, “I’m glad BT’s songs are liked by Sakamoto-san’s fan.”
It seems Sakamoto Ryuichi and YMO are one rank higher in dignity than all those rock bands.
When I finally got into the Cafe, it’s long past lunch time, I was very hungry. Climax Together 1992 was played on the screen, I felt very difficult to eat my pasta which was not spicy at all despite what was written on their websites while the man I love was singing about despair, pain, madness and desire to die.
Later, friends reported that they waited for 4 whole hours outside the cafe on September 12th, so I’m the lucky one!
Bar Teranga in Ebisu
It’s the bar Imai mentioned in his blog, owned by his wife’s sister Akane, who is also an indie musician. It’s hidden in the streets of Ebisu, on the third floor of a building, with only one tiny signboard outside.
I went there for the evil purpose of examining whether she looked as cute as she was in photos, or it’s photoshop’s doing (I’m not evil enough to think about meeting or stalking BT members, I swear), but I didn’t see her, that night only the male staff Takizawa Ryo was there, he is an indie musician, in 2012, some fans got extremely angry (I’m not sure why) after they found that the BT charity bags were sold at his concerts...but it has already passed, Imai has explained in his blog, Cayce has posted on her blog, so I’ll stop here.
The bar was small, gothic style, there was a wall full of Jrockers’ signatures, including all members of BT, Aki from Sid, Motokatsu, someone from D’erlanger, someone from Merry, Sakurai Ao maybe, and so on, I said “someone” and “maybe” because I couldn’t decipher their signatures which were all so artistically written. Only Shirosaki Jin, the big fanboy and former NO.1 host wrote readable kanjis. I heard there was also one written by Die, of dir en grey, but failed to find it. Aside from signatures, they also used Jrock magazines and BT tour goods as decoration, you can find BT stuffs even in the toilet. The Sakurai Drops box is surprisingly small.
There were three customers when I entered the door, all about 40 years old, two ladies, one gentlemen. I sat down, ordered curry rice and beer in English, the two ladies said “Oh, foreigner?” Then, one of them said:
“But why this bar... Bakuchiku fan?”
“...Yes.” I answered.
They gave me a very warm welcome by screaming and shouting.
“Do you speak Japanese?”
“Only a little.”
“Yokohama Arena?” She tried to speak very slow.
“Yes, but my seat is terrible.”
“Whoo, you come to Japan for a concert!”
“Uh...I came for sightseeing.”
“But your main purpose is the concert, isn’t it?”
And yes.
We talked about BT, Visual Kei and Jpop. “It’s amazing that Japanese music has influence on other countries’ people.” they said. Later, they began talking about baseball, Johnny’s idol groups, and the coming Visual Japan Summit (finally I remember that name).
The curry rice was nice. One of the ladies drank so much High-ball but her face didn’t change a bit, I envy people like her.
I left before all three of them, “Good night! See you tomorrow in Yokohama.” The Japanese fans said.
(Small information:
There is a bar in Minatoku, Tokyo, owned by NAO (BY-SEXUAL) and BT’s former manager Kojima, the name is “Azabu Kyuuban”, or “Azabu NO.9” in English. Many Jrockers had been there, including members of BT, Glay, Plastic Tree, Golden Bomber, Kishidan, Nocturnal Bloodlust and so on. Some BT fans love to go there after the Budoukan show, so if you want to go there that day, too, remember to pre-order.)
Yokohama Arena
There are big “横浜アリーナ” and “Yokohama Arena” words written above an exit of the station, you can follow the ladies in black as well.
I arrived at Yokohama Arena at about 12:30 pm, there was a long, long goods line in the rain, even there were many staffs selling the goods and they were quick, I think I still waited for more than 1.5 hours outside, and when I finally got into the venue, I found there were still many people waiting in front of me. Aku no Hana 2015 remix was played, when Kiss Me Good-bye was over, National Media Boys came, so they must played it for more than once, friends who came later than me reported they heard another album there. I heard almost one Aku no Hana inside the venue, than my turn of buying goods finally came.
It was reported by Japanese fans if you came at 3 pm, you did not need to wait, so I guess at concerts if you don’t want the most popular goods such as Sakurai Drops or Acchan eye masks, it will be better if you don’t come very early.
After buying the goods, same with many fans, I walked to a nearby shopping center, spent two hours there. One oddity was that, when I went to the toilet in the shopping center, everyone waited there was BT fans, I can tell they were fans because all of them wore either BT T-shirts, or typical bangya clothes such as black lace dress and black high heel boots, one of them wore a Mr. Matsumoto guitar print scarf, that famous one with red hearts.
Then back to the venue, people had already lined up for entering. Passersby looked at us curiously.
Since everyone has already watched the WOWOW video, I’d better not say too much about the concert itself, so just a few things:
1. Chandeliers were beautiful.
2. Beside me was a middle aged man, he cried during Jupiter.
3. People clapped their hands during the intro of Dokudanjo, it’s a bit hard to learn.
4. I didn’t realize Imai played Passing Mountain then, feel ashamed.
5. Imai’s guitar was so loud (noisy) that I could barely hear Acchan talking, and it was because Imai’s guitar, not my poor Japanese, Japanese fans have reported same problem.
6. I think you already know that, but the spoken words in Dress are “早く、行かなくちゃ” (I have to go, now).
7. Acchan said: “It must be difficult to see from there, I’m sorry”, then turned the stage light to the stage side and 2nd floor seats, fans who were lit up all waved their hands, screamed in happiness to him. He is a very gentle person indeed.
This year I plan to visit Japan again.
I will go to Fujioka, Gunma to see Imai Shouten. But before that I need to learn more Japanese.
Oh, actually this Gunma-chan (with serious bear) is not the first Gunma-chan.
The original Gunma-chan is this:

ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022 - Quickfire Reaction
It's been another wild month of wrestling, continuing on with ROH's second Khan-era PPV.
A stacked card begets a lot of potential to be a great show, doubly impressive when in the middle of G1 and Summerslam season, but can it top Forbidden Door? Let's see
Spoilers for the Show
Zero Hour
It's a little sad that Colt isn't repping Dark Order anymore but good to see him back in a ring. Same for Anthony Henry, the Workhorsemen are a good tag team well-suited for ROH (even though I must admit I love the Wingmen too)
Match was good for getting the crowd involved, Henry did a lovely piledriver and Frog Splash for two different nearfalls but Cabana powers through
I've heard news about the Trustbusters from some AEW Dark spoilers, but for first impressions: good music, good talent in Slim J, probably gonna do well as weaselly midcard heels until they get some muscle
Eli Isom impressed me a lot more this match than he did in Supercard against Gates of Agony
I dunno who this Prince Nana is but buying TBE seems weird to me, is Tully not gonna be a part of it anymore? Seems like it with them being called The Embassy, maybe Tully will just be with Gresham?
I said it at Supercard and I'll say it again, Cage is best when he's just hossing
Zayne (fresh off of BOSJ), Christian and Deppen did really well too, they built Christian's hot tag really well, Deppen did a lot of workhorsing and Zayne undoubtedly was great
How can you not love Willow? Her music is great too
Nice little blend of technique and power in that match
4 matches in 1 hour, you see that WWE?
Main Card
Kicking off with the world title!? That is bold
Love Claudio's new theme music btw, I wouldn't have minded if all of BCC had classical remixes but I get why Mox sticks with Wild Thing, plus Yoots still has a good theme tune
Gresham didn't come out with Tully though, so wonder what that's about? Regal joins commentary too to enrich us more
Classic story of ligament damage vs power
Gresham has struggled with AEW crowds getting him but GOD he is so clean
CLAUDIO DID IT! HE FINALLY WON A WORLD TITLE!
I appreciate the BCC elbows helped transition to the Ricola Bomb, we pushing that BCC agenda and I am here for it, I think I liked that match more than the ZSJ match
Claudio's joy is also infectious, that's an opener!
Glad to see more Dalton, dude is charismatic for years
This is the first I've seen of the Righteous, their music is unique, they have kinda cult energy with a dash of Big Lebowski, I'd happily see more of them
I enjoyed the match more than I thought tbf, lots of charisma, lots of fun, commentary made me grin too, I had predicted Castle and Boys to win but it surprised me that they went 2 title changes in a row
Garcia still rocking the kangol XD And using the Regal colours
Could we possibly just get Regal on commentary like every title match? He's so joyous but also technical, you learn so much
Production has gone up with the PURE rules UI, timer and the rope break bars
Yoots has a great German Suplex, not Takeshita level but still great
It's a very interesting but valid strategy to see Garcia and Yoots work the ears, you don't see it a lot
I was also glad to hear that there's intent towards Yoot not going for a rope break, because his last few Pure matches have had him be the first to lose a rope break and I always felt that feeling like weakness
Loved the submission swapping relating to JAS and BCC too
That is the best PURE match I've seen so far in the Khan era, if it weren't for Claudio challenging Gresham I would've picked Garcia for this, but I wanted that BCC agenda and I'm getting it, Bryan needs to come back so he's next
Dragon Lee. Lawn Darted RUSH. Through a Table!?
This is pure Penta vs Fenix energy in the best way, both have the same kind of builds and mentality
Seriously, no build, no title, and yet this still was a banger
I wonder if Lee will join La Faccion Ingobernable down the line, because I know RUSH and Andrade are facing the Lucha Bros but I see it going into trios, maybe Andrade taking the All-Atlantic title from PAC
Every American one time or another will call Worcester 'War-chester' XD to be fair us Brits do too but we learn quickly because of Worcestershire Sauce
No surprise that Serena vs Mercedes is extremely technical
Match got a little slow in the middle but it was good, really thought though that Serena would be given her due, she's showed up against Shida, Rosa and Mercedes and the ROH women's title did feel like a good fit for her
Lethal sent Singh and Dutt away which is interesting
Joe pulling a Suzuki look as they go straight at it!
Didn't last long, Singh came back to help Pillmanize Joe's shoulder, match hadn't started yet so fair game. But the ref ejects Singh before ringing the bell, which is clever, didn't eject Dutt though when he brought in a pipe (to feint so Lethal could use the belt)
Crowd have been rabid for this match, I was okay about it, the build and the interferences made me less invested
Woof, Fight for the Fallen ain't messing around; Mox vs RUSH, Swerve vs Sterling & Nese, Danielson returning vs Garcia, good stuff
Surprised Dax didn't wear his 'Fight like an 8 year old' shirt, AEW made them to donate to children's heart charity
The pop for the bell ringing wasn't as loud as last time which was a shame
Jay and Dax went 200 miles an hour there, but it looks like it hurt him a bit since they had him checked by medical, post-show reports say it's precautionary which is fortunate
Doesn't stop his capacity for the hot tag though
After the first fall we got some clever psychology from the Briscoes
Cash has a great hot tag too
The camera is looking for something but it's not quite finding it
Is 2 out of 3 no rules? Because I feel like being hit with a bell is a DQ
Everyone's showing some colour now
It's been a good night for clean looking piledrivers
Ref bump seems to be to give the Briscoes a visual win with the Jay Driller, though FTR also had a visual win with the Big Rig after, maybe a part 3 is in waiting? Iron Man maybe?
They did the Revival vs DIY/American Alpha spot with holding hands during a submission
JESUS! Chekov's table from Lethal/Joe comes back for Cash super back body dropping Mark!
Jay Driller just for 2!
SUPER PILEDRIVER
The finish was great, I think I slightly preferred the Supercard match but gosh that was a great match
Oh sure give me FTR vs BCC, I've got a vein to inject it into
Conclusion
This was a great PPV.
I think I preferred Forbidden Door by an inch, but it has to be on a similar level because ROH didn't suffer so much from abrupt endings and injury, but the match quality for Forbidden Door was slightly higher, but it was better than Supercard overall which is a plus.
The matches were all really good, very happy to see Claudio win a world title finally. Khan booked the PPV strongly and hopefully it pays off for him, I don't see how tv companies wouldn't be considering ROH right now.
Hopefully a new chapter will begin.

Got lots to say about this playlist, so you know, read all about it under the cut!
*
Wild to me that this is the first playlist that got finished of the *many* Disco Elysium WIP playlists I have going, but hey, I had some help. This sketches some moods for pre-canon Harry/Jean relationship, ostensibly based on a few fanfictions I love for them. I’d say the dynamic here is a bit of a mashup of the nicpic/circo imagining (my rec for a good gutting fic is The Future Seems Kind, though basically anything from either or both authors is fantastic) and the leoandthesnake dynamic (un jour je serai de retour series).
Let's get to it, shall we?
We begin the ill-fated partnership with Arsonist's Lullaby, which captures the toxic fascination Jean has with Harry's just-barely-holding it together case-clearing record, and the way Harry enjoys being admired in his eyes. There's something about the line "don't you ever tame your demons // but always keep them on a leash" that feels very true to the ways they relate to each other. I discovered The Wondersmith and his Sons and it immediately struck me as the functional rhythm of the "legendary Du Bois-Vicquemare partnership", the good days, before things got too dysfunctional. The snappy little rhythm of the verses, the way it could be read as brotherhood but strays to something closer...
You trust me don't you baby? You'd hand your life to me Let's walk along the wire and watch the muzzles flash like lightning
Love it, and haunted by the way "pour another round on me" foreshadows what's to come.
Things pick up to a little crazier with That'll be the Day -- I was definitely riding some kind of vibes like this fic thinking about the dynamic of this song, high action, chaotic casework, things maybe coming off the rails. There's something about "shattering our innocence like a bullet through our back" that's a direct hit on young officer Jean.
The H/J relationship starts with Do you Love Me? -- Nick Cage is honestly a great choice for their dynamic. I positioned this as a seedy after-work bar scene that devolves into H/J sex, leading to an ill defined friends with benefits/toxic relationship that Jean just barely can't bring himself to pull away from. The answer to "do you love me?" is of course given by the subsequent I love you like an alcoholic -- a direct Harry thought of course, but you can't buy lyrics like this:
Walked about twenty blocks talking about good bars and better towns than this one. Kissed that first night, Then the rain opened up the sky to get One last kiss, I love you like an alcoholic. One last kiss, I love you like a statuette. One last kiss, I need you like I need a broken leg.
If you take nothing else from this playlist, please listen to the heartbreaking Oceanographer's Choice -- the horrible spiral of the relationship into something that hurts both of them but neither of them can pull themselves away from. The line "what will I do when I don't have you? // When I finally get what I deserve?" hits so much for the both of them.
Missile is a song for Jean specifically, having a talk with himself about how he needs to cut off his relationship with Harry. "Like a drunk you convinced was sober // you keep me falling over // think you're giving but you're taking my life away" is just a brutal but true I think sentiment for them.
Don't Even Trip was a recommendation from another fan, Ivyzord-- a brief uptick in their friendship after Jean cuts off their sexual relationship. I enjoy the line “you’re just a piece of shit // but I can overlook it today // cause you’re still my friend”. Very H/J line.
I have to say Street Spirit is the second most gutting choice on the list (after Oceanographer’s), because narratively, I think of it as a moment where Jean finds Harry passed out after a BAD cocktail of drugs/alcohol and has to sit out the possibility that his friend might die. No individual lines to quote here, but the atmosphere of Jean chain-smoking by Harry’s bedside, desperately hoping for the best, gets me so bad.
The playout music is the vicious banger Good Day -- describing the rage Jean feels as he realizes their relationship has become completely toxic and one-sided. The way the energy of this leads logically into the Village Posse scene in Martinaise: “I’m not suggesting // you get to line me up for questioning // but jesus think about the bridges you are burning” yeah yeah yeah.
If you’ve gotten this far, thanks so so much for reading! I hope you love the playlist, thoughts so welcome <3

I'm watching tangled. It's a good show and actually a perfect show for kids, at least up to season one, that's what I've watched at this point.
All the pieces have come togheter, we had our revelations and we had our villain.
I've just had a glimpse of this fandom, but I'm seeing great appreciation for this character and I'd like to talk a little about his arc.
He starts off as such a sweet character, he's not only intelligent but also kind and relatable.
I can see why so many people, including myself relates to him; always trying to help and often fail, really often like a person who's learning, like, you know, a teenager, which leads him to committing more than one error; he learns along the way, mostly at his expenses; he's pretty much alone and launches himself in his interests, whome make him more distant to his peers and make him longing for approval of the people around him.
He has always tried to help our protagonists, he always puts people over him and originally just wanted to help his village, then the countryside, then the entire kingdom.
And we see that he fails, and that's in character, making errors is normal for him, most of our characters are literally the best in what they do, they're not perfect but they've perfectly mastered one particular activity.
Well, he doesn't.
He fucks up, real bad.
But up to that point our protagonists (most of them) have fucked up quite a lot, sometimes he was the one that helped them go out of problems they created.
So that's why, in my opinion, Rapunzel was wrong from the start.
I think she's in the wrong here not because she actively crated the problem, but because she was the only one that could've done something.
And she promised to do so.
She had a choice, she was the queen at the moment but it means nothing. There were more capable people to take care of that situation.
We know that she saved the kingdom but at THAT moment she didn't know that, and at the start she just did what others told her and then put the fate of her kingdom to a literal fairytale.
Also what does it means that's her kingdom? As a regent she was only a person, everyone could've done it, and yes I mean everyone because she didn't had a special "training" or anything, she was literally someone that happened to be a princess.
While on the other hand she's the only person with a connection with the rocks, literally the only person that could've done something.
It's really strange how Rapunzel trates this issue. As if she was a complete victim of the circumstances and didn't even thought she made a bad decision but just that she said no.
I have to say that he's an amazing villain, I mean how he acts as one.
His motivations are cool an honestly even if he did a lot of things wrong wtf could've he do? Ask help again to people that ignored him multiple times?
Well, anyway.
First of all, he's hilarious.
Maybe my bar is a little low but "Yes, Dad", I guess someone here had a lot of repressed frustration and anger.
A lot of villains have this huge annoying pride bullshit thing that makes them easy target.
But in the serie they established that's not his thing. He's a man of science, and as such errors are part of the deal.
He never underestimate who's he's up to, he impruves his machinery and his plans, he's enough emotionally intelligent to manipulate people into helping him and is one step head of everyone.
And why does he loses? That racoon.
Literally the racoon.
He was completely gone, if it wasnt for the raccoon I think Rapunzel would've been dead or something.
He loses because he trusted someone, oh such irony.
And then, his plan doesn't work, Rapunzel's hair aren't enough.
They fight
And we discover
That Rapunzel's scecial secret magic wow power is to control the rocks.
To control. The rocks.
At that point, I was seriously laughing.
Are you saying that she could've done it at any point if she tried enough?
What you're saying is that she just didn't cared enough, that's it, she didn't really cared about the problem he was asking help with, but in the moment something she really cared was treated, then oh boy oh boy
Go to jail kiddo ❤️
