Blue story collecting traveler (writing) meets blue story collecting traveler (oral reciting)- Marbles and Sailor, the later which is my oc! He has a boat-submarine hybrid that is covered on the outside by stitched together poppycorn cover leaves, as those withstand the force of the cycle rain in-game! This isn't a specific area in game, just one that has large water and some fog. I figured they would have a common topic to interact over The Pioneer was really fun to draw and trying to figure out the composition of this piece! I'm so glad I could submit this!

Marbles is not a big fan of water... however, she's been blessed with lung capacity of a regular slugcat as her other parent was a semi-aquatic scug. She can swim and dive just fine, but any contact with water impedes her ability to do explosive jumps, because the flammable component in her fur is washed away.

I love the composition in your drawing. The entirety of Act 3 will take place in a location that is close to an ocean, which is what this scene reminds me of.

Dey called a Binturong!

Dey native to South n Southeast Asia. Can also be called Bearcats but dey not related to bears or cats! Dey can weigh up to 40 lbs n has sharp claws to helps dem climbies super high in da trees. Dey also has super strong n big tails dat helps dem climbies n balance. It called a prehensile tail n da Binturong is one of only two carnivores dat has dis type of tail.

Fun fact: Dey smells like poppycorn! 🍿🍿🍿 Dis because dey has lots da same molecule dat gives poppycorn its smell... so if yous in Asia n smells poppycorn in da trees it no means movie nights n prolly best to leaves da poppycorn smelling cuties alones.

Also because I feel like it I'm gonna explain how I do my Hunter runs so some tips n general shit below the cut :3

(just to preface this: even though I call these "score/points runs" I dont actually use the "official" score run rules, so I can't help you if you actually wanna be able to submit these to like a leaderboard or smth. I use karma caching and vanilla exploits and stuff, mainly bc im just doing this to have fun)

Okay so the initial setup is:

Get a king vulture mask on the first cycle. This makes it so if you die, you just restart and don't have to re-do a ton of stuff. Use the vulture grub in LF_A04 and fight them in that long room to the left of it.

You can feel the difference between a regular vulture mask and a king vulture mask. Getting a king vulture mask specifically is crucial.

Taming the blue lizard that spawns in LF_D03 with a noodlefly or centipede is pretty easy, although those motherfuckers are SO GODDAMN STUPID it might take you a minute to actually get them to cooperate. Or not die.

Den with your new friend in LF_S02. This is my base of operations until I actually...start playing the game lol. I use vanilla exploits and karma cache/starve cycle (whatever u wanna call it) until I have the survivor, the friend, the martyr, and the saint passages.

Next, I go and get the echos in subterranean and farm arrays, letting myself get teleported back to LF_S02 each time.

After that, I go up to sky islands and den in SI_S04, and the next cycle I get the sky islands echo.

This is where the run actually starts lol. Some tips I have are:

Rush Pebbles. Start working up to getting the monk passage by eating the poppycorn in sky islands, eating pebbles' neurons when you get to the top of the wall, eating the poppycorn at the top of chimney, etc and so forth. Getting the monk passage is WAAAAY harder than the hunter so I always go for it first.

Don't get the chimney echo the first time you pass it. When you're back down from Pebbles, go down to CC_C13 and grab the vulture grub, then go back up to CC_C09 and cheese vulture kills by summoning them and killing them while they're passed out. This also helps if you somehow lost your mask along your journey.

Let yourself kill scavengers. They're 6 points each and take only one or two hits to kill. You can always repair your rep in the later cycles of the game, it actually doesn't take as many cycles as you think.

Technically reviving Moon is sub-optimal, since it only gives you 100 extra points. I don't care I will never not revive her <3. However if you do actually wanna get like, the highest score possible, skip this. Shoreline is ass for spawns and you don't get many kills.

For me, once I'm done reviving Moon, I like hanging around Industrial, Pipeyard, Outskirts, and Farm Arrays to just start killing tons of shit. There are plenty of green and caramel lizards, which each give you 10 and 11 points respectively, and cyans are also everywhere. Just be careful in outskirts bc the red lizards there are free-roaming, unlike industrial where it cant get out of that one room.

My personal route to getting the wanderer is: Farm Arrays -> Sky Islands -> Skip Chimney go straight to The Exterior -> Five Pebbles -> Chimney Canopy (den near the echo) -> Industrial -> Shaded -> Shoreline -> Garbage Wastes -> Industrial -> Pipeyard -> Industrial -> Outskirts -> Drainage -> Subterranean. You will likely get the nomad easily doing this, I usually get it going from Farm Arrays to Pebbles.

BE BRAVE!! You have to kill in order to get points, after all! A death is only -3 points. Even if it's frustrating, you can easily make that up by killing a squidcada or whatever. Sometimes you gotta run headfirst at that vulture, man. You'll be surprised how strong Hunter actually is.

That's my advice, other than play the game obsessively for 700 hours LMAO. At this point I have hunter's spawns memorized so I know where to go to find stuff to kill. It also doesn't help that I have chronic lilypad hunterbrain so.........yeah!

just finished my playthrough of gourmand it was so good anyways heres me and my son cubey (more about him under the cut)

anyways my son cubey. hes named after a friend’s slugpup that lived for 2 seconds named ice cube. cubey is an. interesting slugpup. i think he primarily has the aggressive personality trait as every time i set down my spear he would SPRINT for it and on multiple occasions would bee-line towards the nearest lizard to stab the shit out of it. he killed a dropwig, multiple adolescent centipedes, and an adult centipede. he is an unstoppable force of nature.

I found him directly after speaking with fivepebbles and when i ran into cubey he scared the shit out of me. I zoomed into the den right before heading back down the wall and i saw a mint color flashing in the pipe alert. i got scared and zoomed in and saw nothing, so i poked my head back out. saw nothing AGAIN and headed back into the den and saw just lil baby sitting in the den (he was juke-ing me in and out of the den it was very silly).

most of the time i had to carry him bc if i didnt he would run off to find a spear and stab the shit out of something. he would jump for joy when feasting on nootflies and also fucking LOVE POPPYCORN OH MY GOD. he would do BACKFLIPS TO GRAB IT.

hes scared of squidcadas but has attempted to kill a king vulture without batting an eye. he is the most gutsy slugpup ever. i love him and did everything in my power to protect him. we had a dog (blue lizard) at one point but scavs killed it and i got tired of resetting cycles when cubey died and figured itd be even worse if i did it for puppy (what i named the blue lizard) so i just left.

slugcats are, mostly, omnivorous! Saint is an exception

while they are omnivores, they have their preferences or more efficient food options - for example, it's much more efficient for Hunter or Artificer to eat meat, while Survivor or Rivulet can't eat big creatures at all

here's the more common foods:

Batflies - think a bat as an insect! 🦇 they fly around and take a moment to catch, but there's mostly consistent spawning points with them, so they're pretty reliable

Blue Fruit - not actually fruit, but pupae! not sure what insect they belong to, but they're a good food for almost every slugcat. except Spearmaster he can't eat them

Eggbug eggs - they're bugs that keep their eggs on their back! as a last effort attempt to save the eggs, when they die the eggs pop off of them. sadly it just makes it easier for slugcats to collect and eat them

Popcorn plant - BELOVED!!! put a spear into this plant, crack it open and receive infinite food! all slugcats get a full food pip from one popcorn plant seed, so that means all of them like poppycorn!!
