Blue story collecting traveler (writing) meets blue story collecting traveler (oral reciting)- Marbles and Sailor, the later which is my oc! He has a boat-submarine hybrid that is covered on the outside by stitched together poppycorn cover leaves, as those withstand the force of the cycle rain in-game! This isn't a specific area in game, just one that has large water and some fog. I figured they would have a common topic to interact over The Pioneer was really fun to draw and trying to figure out the composition of this piece! I'm so glad I could submit this!

Marbles is not a big fan of water... however, she's been blessed with lung capacity of a regular slugcat as her other parent was a semi-aquatic scug. She can swim and dive just fine, but any contact with water impedes her ability to do explosive jumps, because the flammable component in her fur is washed away.

I love the composition in your drawing. The entirety of Act 3 will take place in a location that is close to an ocean, which is what this scene reminds me of.

Tinkerer redesign... -face in hands- that thang is more like a design update- what's the difference? i did Not feckin touch that slug with the conscious goal of changing her up, she just yoinked my hand n went by herself

changed the sown eye for a piece of Zephyr's sash thing cuz back when i originally made Seaf i was thinkin that the iterator who he was the companion to was functioning mostly fine n i yoinked Zephyr's privilage of using her facilities at some point so she wouldn't be able to treat the wound like that. piece of her own clothes it is

the yellow also looks very good on him ngl... motherfucker looks like the flag of Sweden. Seaf's swedish now.

purposes of character: • exploration of Zephyr's struggle to be soft and caring despite the shit that life put her thru • a window into what is happening with Zephyr just before her self-inflicted collapse because gods. i fuckin love that piece of lore. she broke herself even more with the clear intention of finally falling. and Seaf will be the one that will carry us to see why she did it • guiding the Scavenger colony of Old Harbor to live up in Piscis, Fish's city, after Fish goes properly through his arc consisting of change of his relationship with the Global Religion, religion as a concept and an exploration of his perception of the Ancients and what they meant to him • knocking up Artificer n having The Pups with her cuz i still cry laugh about that. canon as Fuck to this universe

it has white lizard traits, including camouflage and wall climbing in order to make it as good at espionage as possible

after it showed no signs of being able to ascend others, it was tossed into the ocean below to rot with its kin

it was very attached to its creator, who treated it like his own child untill it was deemed a failure and removed from the can

it just wants to see him again

sailor is part of a colony of aquatic slugcats living in a village made out of debris

it and grappler meet when it journeys out in search of safer territory

grappler is a tree-dwelling slugcat living in the humid jungle beneath a slowly sinking iterator

the entire jungle hangs from the underside of Small Blue Flowers, the foliage stretching down towards the ocean beneath instead of up to the sky

you have to climb and swing your way around to get anywhere, as not many plants actually touch the water so if you fall you die

it's been a long time since I've drawn anything for the Tumblr, so here we go. my roommate has been binge watching Murdoch Mysteries while I've been watching Sailor Moon, so I thought I'd have some fun and draw Julia in Neo Queen Serenity's outfit (sans tiara because I'm lazy lol). this is not my typical drawing style, I was trying to go for an anime/manga type of look for this pic.

Finished another Magma board /.w./

First time drawing Arthur! (Not really. First time I drew him was only his face though.

I tried painting his face as best as I could. He looks a little "meh." I gave him three moles for a but more detail. I actually have an idea on the new layout for thise moles. >:] (btw CGI Emily's face looks like Arthur's face. They look too similar.) He's mostly the same apart from his real life basis, which is LMS 1203 instead, and the lettering on his tanks is NWR instead of LMS. He was one of the many engines saved from scrapping, Emily being the first.

Also drew Rebecca and oh my goodness, she's absolutely adorable. Very out of proportion and not accurate but very cute. Look her happy face. <3 I love her sm. I decided to use her real-life basis' current livery, which is SR Malachite Green with Sunshine Yellow lining and lettering. Might add some red for additional lining (making it look similar to the BR livery, the only real livery worn during their service). Her basis is 92 Squadron, btw!

All of these were based off that promo containing the entire Steam Team (old and new) with a few guests labeled with Zodiac signs. I was surprised to find Edward be labeled as a Cancer (which is my Zodiac sign!!! :D). James was labeled as a Sagittarius and Rebecca was labeled as a Libra.

And meet a new OC, Chelsea! Her real-life basis is BR W14 Fishbourne. She existed because of the Little Blue Tank Engine found in the early books of the RWS.

Her face is supposed to resemble a fish. Her eyes and eyelashes resemble fins. Her irises are based on actual fish eyes. The creases underneath her eyes resemble gills. Her lips resemble the lips of a fish. Pouty and cute, right?

And then Debra! She belongs to my friend @nightsinfoxx15. She was fun to draw though it feels like I could've done better, tbh.

Oh yeah and there's Edward and James hiding (somewhat) with their pride flags! :D

In the 7 Cups on the RW card, the Cups are filled with immeasurable treasures and mystic figures—like the gold and the dragon. In essence, they represent temptations into a non-reality.

In my version, I chose to fill the Cups with temptations that sailors might encounter—such as sirens, women, the drink, and gold.

It’s all in an effort to portray this card as tempting, elusive, and foggy.

I think based on what I've read so far, I agree with the idea that Moby Dick is a criticism of transcendentalism and of RW Emerson in particular

like it's about Ahab and Ishmael

two biblical characters that are seen as deviating from right covenant with God

like Ishmael waxes poetic about how the color white is uncanny and Universally Symbolizes the sublime, but then he also condemns belief that Moby Dick is anything more than just a whale as sailor superstition!

you aren't supposed to take what Ahab and perhaps later Ishmael believes about the whale to be literal, let alone that this is what Melville is trying to say

there are superficial similarities to lovecraft, because he was an antiquarian in his prose and was overtly evoking these older works in symbol

then again, even more people will completely misunderstand what Lovecraft was trying to say about Cosmic Horror in his stories ala Derleth

this is why i think pirating came second nature to the gen x/millennials is we remember having our tape decks to record songs off the radio and the vhs decks to record television.

disney was a monolith even then because i remember my mom would find out about free disney weeks where a broadcast channel would just be open to everyone for disney presentations and she'd stock up on blank vhs tapes and sit me down in front of the tv to record whatever i wanted. (this is also where Dibnies Robin Hood turned me into a furry)

Most all of Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, I had on VHS i ripped from cartoon network cuz that's all we had back then.

And the blank CD-Rs became a thing, and blank DVD-Rs, and then the RW series came out. And you could record, digitize, any signal you could get. Aux cable your radio into your computer, you had the first CD mixtape that predated MP3s. Had the gear to run your cable, or even satellite, signal to your computer with a open source codex, first VCD anime collection.

The absence of physical drives was a weird shift, but we did hit a limit to what floppy, and even ZIP, drives could reliably manage. But the lack of optical drives in most laptop and even non-tower workstations is a sign that you have to admit to either "stealing" media to a flash drive (which most tvs support nowadays) or give up on an entire history of VHS recordings, cassette audio recordings, burnt CDs and DVDs. (Nevermind even legitimately purchased media in any of those formats.)

Want to listen to Green Day's debut album Dookie? Unless you have a tape deck or CD player still... gotta stream it.

Even game consoles... like you have to make sure you purchase one with an optical drive.

My car doesn't have either a tape deck nor a cd player. I have to either aux in or bluetooth from my phone. (at least aux let's me resurrect a dead ipod or a sony discman/walkman)

But then all of that takes some effort. . . Why manage your library when you can stream from (five to ten different) service subscriptions?

I gave it my best shot at the Redraw Usagi challenge! Though I decided to draw my Ronin Warriors OC, Anya, in the pose instead just to make it fun! Gotta say it was indeed a challenge to switch the style to the Ronin one. Yee, but, I love how it turned out!

Creature of root and wire? Folks gods? I am listening

GJLKDSJLKMK there's!!! not much thought that went into those doodles, honestly! i've just been listening to a lot of folk related stuff (and thinkin of my own n irish/scottish/sailor culture) mainly cuz it's connected to The OC Lore

but some thoughts that did spawn: the iterators are dieties of nature hiding away and just wanting to be more or less left alone (with possibly some meddling from other creatures, wink wonk ancients, this would take place from the perspective of slugcats again)

Pebbles is known as The Creature of Root and Wire. he hides in the dark depths of a secluded forest of dark oak. his place is protected by twisting branches and roots that seem to come alive, attempting to either guide lost creatures away or straight up kill them (The Rot are sickly trees that no longer listen to Pebs). Pebbles himself has skin of bark and moves around thanks to a living branch his body seems to be growing out of. within the bark are mechanications and his throat is made mainly of wires and some pipes, with a mask just kind of slapped on top of that to give the illusion of a head and a face

Moon is known as the Fallen Patience. she's hidden in marshes that the elders claim weren't always there, especially since the marshes are the domain of another (Nish). only the most daring or the most idiotic make their way to her. there's stories of her either cursing or blessing passerbys with knowledge, if they stay with her a kind little while. she kind of reminds me of a kelpie

going off of some slavic folk stories i know, a lot of iteractions with them revolves around being kind and hospitable. if one brings them offering of food (bread and salt is most appreciated since in my culture that is a way to welcome your guests!!!! :D) and is nice to them, they ought to repay the favor. if given gold and one is rude with them, they are gon either curse the beggar in some Folk™ way or just strike them down right then and there

Moon's domain used to be more or less plains with shores and bushes but because of Things like in canon RW shit went down. with time her place changed into a marsh and when it did, Nish found out about her condition since he just knows whats up in his own domain. purposing a little energetic glowing dragonfly, he sent his beautiful daughter (-cough- Hunter, she's pretty to me ok -cough-) to guide and protect the dragonfly all the way to Moon. Nish himself i'm thinkin would have similar stuff going on like a vodník (waterman??? lil green man that collects souls in cups) combined with the slavic deity Živa (goddess of life and spring, život translates to life)

oh! and neurons for Moon and Pebs are fireflies and for Nish they are dragonflies!

Suns i GUESS could be something like Poludnica. a guardian being of the holiness of midday (poludnie means midday so u can see the connection!). i remember some stories about how if one would work in the fields during midday, a beautiful woman would appear in the tall grass and tempt them to come to her. once close, it'd be revealed that she's actually quite an ugly old thing and then would kill the guy cuz of course what else this is Folklore
