Ranking MLP Generations!💗🦄🌈
For over 40 years, we have been exposed to colorful horses. Colorful horses who can talk....and sing....and dance....and fire mega rainbow lasers at their enemies! Colorful horses who also made their way into our collections. My Little Pony was introduced in 1982 following after the original My Pretty Pony toy that dropped in 1981 which was meant to sell toys for the young female demographic.
The rest became history! MLP grew to become a popular toy during the 80s which spawned a movie in 1986 and a TV show that came out three months later. As the years went by, MLP went through multiple changes gaining new fans for new generations. I've decided to go over each generation and rank them based on my opinions, thoughts, and overall feelings of satisfaction I have toward them. I don't necessarily hate any of the generations that will be placed lower on this list, I just don't feel as attached to them nor do I feel like having an interest in them. I also won't discuss much of the toys, but I will discuss heavily on the TV shows based on them since I've seen more of the shows than I collected the toys. We'll start with the worst, then save the best for last. Let's go, everypony!
8. My Little Pony Generation 2
The fact that I didn't even know this existed until years later doesn't help its case. The toy sales were so low that there wasn't even a cartoon to go with it. Only a video game. This generation released in 1997 before it ceased distribution in 1999 due to lackluster sales. However, it did find some success in Europe. I don't have much to say about this since I hadn't known about it. I originally thought My Little Pony Tales was Generation 2! One positive I can give is that I love the designs as they give off slightly more realistic horse-like features and it's a cool look. I didn't have any toys nor saw anything on TV with there being no series. I'm sorry, G2! Unfortunately, you hit the bottom of the barrel.
7. My Little Pony Generation 3.5
Now, this spot is interesting! The third generation of MLP dominated the 2000s with newer colorful ponies like Pinkie Pie and Minty. On top of that, multiple specials began selling in DVDs that also aired on TV. By late 2009, Hasbro decided to revamp the series twice (sort of). They gathered a group of ponies who were well known in G3 (Pinkie Pie, Starsong, Rainbow Dash, Cheerilee, Toola Roola, Sweetie Belle, & Scootaloo) and gave them a redesign as well as likely aging them down for younger audiences. There was a 45-minute holiday special titled, Twinkle Wish Adventure as well as a couple mini episodes and new toys that spawned from this revamp.
It eventually led to the second revamp titled, Newborn Cuties where the characters aged down to babies....you had to see it to believe it. I actually owned a G3.5 Pinkie Pie, a Newborn Cuties Pinkie, and a baby singing Starsong back in the day. These redesigns couldn't do it for me after being mesmerized by G3. I remember being upset that even Ponyville got a resign and it looked so bland compared to how the town looked early on. Newborn Cuties also looks extremely off with their pony heads and baby bodies. This generation is mostly hated by the fandom and I can see why. At least, it had more to offer than Generation 2. It was a nice distraction for young girls. It's now best to be left alone by an older me. If any of you like seeing fillies and baby ponies, this is the generation for you.
6. My Little Pony Generation 1.5/ My Little Pony Tales
Let's go back to the year, 1992! You're sitting in your room and you're watching, Disney Channel. You're watching your favorite shows like, Goof Troop, The Little Mermaid, or Raw Toonage and you come across this colorful horse show. After Generation 1's series came to a close in 1987, we are now hit with a new series for pony fans in the 90s. This is the generation I previously thought was Generation 2. That is in fact not the case! We follow a group of pony friends as they spend their days in Ponyland going to school, hanging out for milkshakes, having sleepovers, and feuding with the resident boys. Our main ponies are Starlight, Sweetheart, Melody, Bright Eyes, Patch, Clover, and Bon Bon whom we follow in their daily lives. I find this show to be.....innocent, but weird (and not in a good way). It's passable for a Saturday morning cartoon and it does have funny moments, but something was off.
Generation 1 left quite the impression on young audiences during the 80s. Ponies that not only sung and danced, but ponies that went through continuous magical adventures involving dragons, princesses, witches, evil kings, and all sorts of mythical creatures. My Little Pony Tales has talking and singing ponies, but there was an odd lack of magic with the show emphasizing more on Slice-of-Life. Not that I have any issues with that genre! It just feels odd seeing these magical horses not doing any magic and living in a modernized world. The characters also have annoying moments which is likely because the writers wanted to portray preteen behavior (since the ponies are preteens in this show), but it also falls into some cheesy 90s writing. Like I said, it is passable so I believe there's an audience for this one. It can make nice riffing material too!
5. My Little Pony Generation 4.5/ Pony Life
Here are the table scraps of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic....except, these table scraps were pretty okay. This show came onto streaming services and YouTube from November 7, 2020 until May 22, 2021. This was supposed to be a successor, spin-off, and reboot to FIM. The previous show had already ended, so I was chill with seeing the characters again in a different style. This generation was.....bonkers, to say the least! It was already kind of a struggle seeing fans adjust to the new chibi art style, but it was also a struggle keeping up with the show's new format. Pony Life was incredibly energetic as each episode was around 5 minutes (10 since they're in two-parts). There was also some crazy new quirks to the cast with Applejack breaking The Fourth Wall, Fluttershy shrinking and massively growing at will, and everyone casually drinking potions left and right. For me, it was hard to keep up with the fast pace of the show. However, I did appreciate the cast of The Mane Six reprising their roles for this show.
Season 2 introduced viewers to Lightning Flash Chill (the tiger), Sugar Snap (the peacock), and Echo (the bat). Meet The Wild Siders! They're unicorn-hybrid creatures who work at a healthy food restaurant called, Salad Bowl Junction in their home realm. I honestly enjoyed them! They give off similar vibes to The Care Bear Cousins which is fascinating because the 80s actually did a spin-off toyline with a similar premise by having other pretty animals. There have also been episodes where characters from the previous series make an appearance such as Spike, Trixie Lulamoon, and Discord. I enjoyed this more than My Little Pony Tales and the characters are still likable, but it still has issues. I'm still put off by the constant energy in almost every minute. I don't feel attached to this show, but I do see myself watching it once in a while because the episodes aren't that long and I've grown used to the art style by now with how cute everyone looks. Also, it's nice seeing The Mane Six again!
4. My Little Pony Generation 5
The year is 2021, it has been a couple years since Generation 4 ended, and this had some major horseshoes to fill! September 22 of that year presented us with a debut film on Netflix titled, A New Generation featuring stars like Vanessa Hudgens and Sofia Carson. It was actually pretty good! I instantly loved the characters, the animation, the story, and all the songs! It was a great introduction to G5. Personally, I enjoyed it much better than the early concept which was going be having The Mane Six meet each other all over again in a new Equestria. Twilight would've been an Earth Pony, Pinkie would've been a Pegasus, Fluttershy would've been a Unicorn, and Applejack was on the verge of likely getting replaced with a new character. Instead, Generation 5 is supposed to take place DECADES after the events of G4 with ponies and other creatures becoming separated from fear and prejudice. While it was shocking since G4 ended with bringing creatures together, it does make sense for history to repeat itself. The Mane Six have now become what you call, "An Old Pony's Tale" and The Magic of Friendship has been abandoned....until one pony stood up. A pony named, Sunny Starscout!
We follow her along with her friends Izzy Moonbow, Princess Zipp Storm, Princess Pipp Petals, and Sheriff Hitch Trailblazer on their mission to restore magic in Equestria and bring everyone together. After the film, we got a series on Netflix titled, Make Your Mark as well as a series of shorts on YouTube named, Tell Your Tale (I wish it was actually Tail) that took place after the events of the movie. I have mixed feelings on both series. On one hand, I enjoy the art styles, I love the songs still, and I like the characters that were introduced like Misty Brightdawn and Sparky the Dragon. On the other hand, the episodes can be messy. We get pieces of information on how magic faded from Equestria, but it still doesn't feel like we're getting the whole picture. The IDW Comics have been giving a little more than the series. I also have many questions on G5's villain, Opaline who is an ALICORN! How did she become an alicorn or was she born one?! G5 wants to be its own thing, but it also clashes with trying to be a sequel to G4. It's a mess, but it's a beautiful mess! I do want to see more.
3. My Little Pony Generation 1
Welcome to the generation that started it all! Say "thank you" to this generation for being the franchise's starting point please! Also, let's give a BIG "thank you" to My Pretty Pony for making this all possible! Before we got a full series, we got two TV specials titled, Rescue at Midnight Castle then Escape from Catrina in 1984 until we got a full-length film in 1986 many know as, My Little Pony: The Movie featuring the voices of recognizable names like Danny DeVito and Madeline Kahn. I've always found this generation to be fun to watch while having some 80's cheesy moments. There was a mixture of magic, action, adventure, and pure pony fluff that kept me sitting through multiple episodes. G1 had messy dialogue, some messy hand-drawn animation, and sometimes messy plot, but it was always charming and to the point. There were times where the pacing was very fast, but not as energetically exhausting as G4.5. This show brought a lot to the table with mystical adventures and characters. This generation gave us unicorns, pegasi, twinkle-eyed ponies, sea ponies, Spike the Dragon, witches, and dear sweet Megan Williams.
After Generation 1, there was no longer a use for any human characters in MLP (unless if we count G4's Equestria Girls) and while it is a little sad, it does make G1 a little more unique. While Megan is the bearer of The Rainbow of Light, she's always there for her pony friends whenever they're in trouble and will always be down to have fun in Ponyland. She even includes her younger siblings, Danny and Molly into the mix. Aside from having human characters, there's also a fair share of creatures like dragons, penguins, and giant crabs. We also have other familiar names in this generation like Applejack and Twilight. This show even introduced memorable villains like Tirac, The Smooze, and Grogar. I feel like we owe a lot to this generation even if it's not everyone's favorite. I wouldn't be making this list if not for this show leaving such a a huge impact and leading into future generations to come. If you're feeling nostalgic, I think you'll have a good time checking this out.
2. My Little Pony Generation 3
I know some of you are shocked....trust me, I know! Let me explain!....I can't help but love G3! I grew up with G3! I enjoyed it so much when I was little and I can't help but still like it today! Is it perfect? No! Is it messy? Yes! Did I have fun? Very much, thank you! In the year of 2003, we were presented with a lineup of new and improved MLP toys different from the previous gens and a Direct-to-Video special titled, A Charming Birthday which introduces our new ponies. As each year passed by, we got new specials and new ponies like Star Catcher, Princess Rarity of Unicornia, Wysteria, and so much more! This generation also includes Spike from G1! One thing I loved about G3 was watching all the specials and movies that came out. I'd always watch A Very Minty Christmas every time December rolled around! I thought Sky Wishes and Star Catcher's friendship was so cute to watch during Dancing In The Clouds and I absolutely adore Star Catcher's design. When Spike was reintroduced debuting in The Princess Promenade, I thought it was interesting that he was more knowledgeable and cultured rather than the sweet and innocent personality he had in G1. We were also introduced to fairy-like ponies called, Breezies. While G3 had little to no antagonists, less magical creatures than G1, and a slice-of-life feel like G1.5, there was still plenty of magical adventures to be had.
I absolutely loved the aesthetic G3 was giving to its audience at the time as I couldn't get enough of the color scheme! I've never seen so many shades pink, purple, blue, and even hints of light green since watching Barbie movies! Their hometown, Ponyville looked so beautiful with the purple/pink castle standing front and center. Even other places like Unicornia, Butterfly Island, Breezie Blossom, and Rainbow Wishes Amusement Park are fun to look at. I didn't find the characters annoying and I loved watching their adventures while learning lessons. However, this generation was given a handful of hate like G3.5 mainly because pony fans though it "doesn't reach the same standards as G4" and it made me a little sad. G3 wasn't meant to be groundbreaking or anything. It was just meant to sell toys while using movies and specials to showcase the ponies making new friends, solving problems, and having fun. The same thing can be said about all the generations, really. I get why people don't enjoy it, but I don't think it's warranted of all the hate that it gets. The stories can be too simple and the executions might not be the best, but they're charming. Okay, everypony! We're reaching the end here! Let's see what my favorite generation of My Little Pony is!
1. My Little Pony Generation 4/ Friendship Is Magic
There was no competition. There was no doubt. If anyone asked me what my favorite generation is, I would say G4 in an instant. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic really changed the game for the franchise as a whole! Lauren Faust (animator, writer, director, producer, creator of DC Superhero Girls, and married to Craig McCracken) got this show going in 2010 and it was a MASSIVE success! Toy sales were through the roof, comics were made, music albums were made, merchandise was highly recommended, and the show practically dominated the whole decade as it lasted for nine (technically ten) seasons from 2010 til 2019. Everyone fell in love with Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy. We just call them, The Mane Six! This was actually a technical reboot to G3 with such familiar names in this gen. There's also familiar names from G1 that are present like Twilight, Applejack, Spike, Grogar, and Tirac (except he's renamed Tirek). I couldn't get enough of this show! I remember watching the first episode when it aired for the two-part series premier instantly wanting more when the first episode ended with, "To Be Continued...." and I was hooked! Each season gave us memorable characters, fantastic locations, exciting lore, amazing songs, and everyone's character growth throughout the series. This generation sparked a fun spinoff called, Equestria Girls where Twilight travels into a different universe where everyone is a human and Megan Williams from G1 even makes a cameo. There was even a full-length movie in 2017 featuring stars like Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldana, Sia, and Taye Diggs. This series also led the way for Pony Life to be made into G4.5 and Generation 5 as its sequel series.
Of course, I can't keep going on about Generation 4 without mentioning The Brony Fandom! With Friendship Is Magic being such a successful show, it didn't only reach younger audiences. It also reached adults too....mainly targeted towards men hence where the term, bronies came from. For a whole decade this fandom has made so many fantastic projects inspired by the series. Music videos, fan songs, remixes, audio dramas, fanart, fanfics, animations, OCs, AUs, and so much more! You had to see it to believe it! I know just as many Brony songs as I do official G4 songs! This generation and its fandom changed my life! I don't know which season is my favorite because there's so many good episodes. Not every episode is perfect and maybe there are some who are put-off by the art style, but it's a really good time. Who would have thought that a show about magical animated ponies would make THAT much of an impact?! I highly recommend that you give G4 a watch if you're interested because you'll definitely have something to write home about.
Conclusion
Welp, that's my list! Thank you for sitting down and reading my thoughts. My Little Pony has been a successful franchise for up to 40 years (and still continuing)! I'll always love these colorful ponies no matter how messy each generation can be. MLP played a big part in my childhood so it was nice to look back on every generation as an adult. I'm looking forward to see what the future holds for newer generations and I hope any of you pony fans have a generation that holds a special place in your heart.🐎❤🦄💕

MLP Broodmother Virus Info: Stage 6 & Other Details
Broodmother Virus Stage 6/Final Stage - Rebirth
The cocoon the patient was housed in grows larger and larger as the pony within changes, until finally the cocoon bursts, revealing them radically changed. The patient is now enormous, in both height and weight, towering alongside some of the tallest trees and their bodies horrifically bloated, their bellies now filled to the brim with eggs.
Their body has taken an insectoid appearance, with their limbs segmented, fibrous membranes growing where their manes and tails once did, mandible-like jaws, and whatever voice they used to have been changed to a chittering, high-pitched tone. Their body structure also now mirrors that of an insect queen, all of their body's resources devoted to reproduction, being protected and fed by the Copycat's they've produced.
Interestingly, the patient still has a cutie mark at this stage, though whatever cutie mark they emerge with is different from the one they started with. This suggests that while the patient isn't mindless, the original pony's personality is well and truly dead, and has been replaced with a new personality altogether, a new being born from the ashes of the fallen pony.
Extra Details:
The originally born Copycat's are the second highest ranking in the Copycat hives, tending to their host, guarding the hive, and tending to their newborn siblings. They are also tasked with hunting for new hosts for said siblings to be born from, through either seeking them out manually or luring them towards the hive.
The hosts in this stage also begin to produce some kind of royal jelly, which alongside providing nutrients to the hive's members, also gives pony's that consume it an intense feeling of devotion, often leading to said pony's willingly offering themselves as hosts.
While each patient and their Copycat's act as their own mini hive, each infected seem to be linked together into one, larger faction. They have free will and can think of their own accord but seem to share some kind of psychic link between each other, allowing them all to keep track of each other and communicate from long distances.
At this point, Ponyville is entirely overrun, with very few ponies alive/uninfected, Twilight and Spike remaining some of the only ones left untouched, as they still remain hidden in the lab attempting to find some kind of solution. For the most part, the other major cities have remained stable thanks to the princesses' efforts, though cases of infection have still been documented.
With the Copycat's and their eggs still proving unphased by magical means of treatment, communications with both Rarity and Applejack going silent, Fluttershy's missing stasis since being retrieved by Discord, and Rainbow Dash's death, hope is quickly running dry for the battered and broken purple Alicorn in terms of finding a solution.

I absolutely loved Pinkie Pie when I was younger (also got called Pinkie Pie by friends for a bit but that’s a different story) and I’d love to hear your hc’s about her (and honestly the rest of them if you want)
PINKIE IS ONE OF THE BEST MFS ON THE SHOW UR SO REAL FOR THAT
Most of my hcs surround her being ND tbh (tho I'm a pegasus!pinkie truther lmao)
I also feel like pinkie kinda also has some issues w mood regulation, like we see in the show kinda. When she gets upset she often takes it really hard and has issues when trying to ask and clarify things so the sadness kind of festers, yknow? She likes being the funny one, but when she's upset its hard to talk because she feels like nopony would want to hear her actually be sad.
On a more upbeat note, I like to think that pinkie actually models for rarity a lot n LOVES to see rarity's designs because pinkie is also just into creativity in general obviously! So the two of them bond over it!
Pinkie probably likes horror movies, not like a "I'm scary. I like scary things." Way, They just give her an adrenaline rush like a roller-coaster!!
Pinkie probably has tasted a Lot of different foods, I think that could go w the mini hc of mine that maybe she lived short term in a few other places than ponyville before settling there, so she got to try a bunch of different types of dishes from different kinds of ponies and maybe even other creatures!
I believe I've said something like this before but I don't think pinkie directly labels herself, not bc she doesn't care, just bc it's doesn't come to mind for her really, tho she's probably pan, she's just one of those ponies others are like "hmm..... I Think she likes girls but also that's just pinkie so who tf knows" (mainly with rainbow bc those 2 are almost always hanging)
She knows a lot of random little facts you wouldn't expect, and she probably has hyperfocused on random types of unicorn magic in the past n checked out books to read on them even if she isn't a unicorn.
Pinkie has Totally dyed her hair, just bc I think it would be funny for images of her when younger to have her w blonde hair then blue hair then even black hair, but she's probably calmed down on it by the time the show comes around. (Rainbow dash and Rarity actually probably both helped her dye it probably)
That's not too many but I just wanted to at least get One out because I felt bad for suddenly dissapearing again like I normally do, lol

Christmas Carol-Cember Day 11
I'm gonna step outside my comfort zone for this one. Alright, here goes.
Let’s talk about the My Little Pony Version of a Christmas Carol.
Huh, didn't vomit in my mouth as much as I thought.
Full disclosure, I completely avoided “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” when it was on the air back in the day. I, like many other adult men, looked at this show’s popularity and was stunned with how it had a large fandom amongst older male fans than it did young female fans. That feeling of fragile masculinity kept me from really giving it a chance as I focused on other things that appealed to me, like anime or Doctor Who.
Now with a older mindset willing to challenge these gender conventions, plus a friend who became an open fan and was forced to watch a show he did not enjoy due to losing an Oscar betting pool with me, I checked out a few episodes to ease his suffering.
To my surprise? It wasn’t as horrid as I was expecting nor was it that feminine as I was lead to believe.
A major part in that was thanks to it's show runner Lauren Faust, animator on films like “Cats Don’t Dance” and “The Iron Giant” and animation director for 2000s cartoons like “The Powerpuff Girls” and “Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends.” According to the Netflix series “The Toys That Made Us” that focused on the My Little Pony franchise, Lauren grew up with the pony dolls like countless others girls who grew up in the 80s, but for her and her friends, what meant the world to them were the stories and adventures that she and her friends made up using the dolls as well as the quirky personalities that they made up for each pony doll. Taking that ethos to heart, Faust went into “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” with the mantra that the story and characters would be central and the product would be secondary.
Her intuition proved correct. “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” was a smash hit upon release that spanned nine seasons, an equally successful spin-off series, a theatrical movie and saw Hasbro’s profits skyrocket. Additionally, the show caught on with men just as much as it did for girls, legitimizing the show runners to write the show with a more accepting approach as they became aware of the fans watching. Presumably that is how we got this episode, “A Hearth’s Warming Tail” during its sixth season.
I wasn’t planning on checking it out, but when @clarktooncrossing brought it up in conversations, he mentioned a small detail that made me tilt my head and ask a question:
“How do you tell a Christmas Carol when the fantasy world doesn’t have Christmas?"
In the fantasy world of Ponyville, all the little horses love the holiday “Hearth’s Warming” and look forward to the sharing of gifts, candy and season tidings…and scaring away yetis or something? I dunno, I’m going by wikipedia to confirm this.
Well all but this one horse with a name that sounds like she took it from a disco album, Starlight Glimmer (played by Kelly Sheridan). She finds the whole thing silly and intends to skip it, but the pony possibly named after an Electrical Light Orchestra album, Twilight Sparkle (Tara Strong) won’t have it so she sits her down and proceeds to read a book about a mini horse with the same hairstyle and voice actor named Snowfall Frost, a name that sounds like a Scandinavian metal band, preparing to cast a Level 9 ritual spell to erase the holiday forever.
But lo and behold, three ghosts of Hearth’s Warming past (voiced by Ashleigh Ball), present (voiced by Andrea Libman) and future (voiced by Tabitha St Germain) show up to get her to change her mind before the ritual reaches it’s casting time requirement.

So having to rely entirely on Wikipedia to tell me who is who as well as the small handful of episodes I have seen, I can name one problem that might be problematic for anyone coming into this blind: the characters and their stories require context.
Unless you were watching this show from the first episode, you would probably be confused as to who was who and what their personalities are and what is their relationship to one another.
I point this out because at one point early in the episode, a dragon character acknowledges a previous transgression Starlight Glimmer committed. I had no idea whether that was true or some easter egg I didn’t get since I never watched those episodes that involved this character. Then again, anyone would run into this problem if you are watching a narrative-driven show. It’d be like watching “Avatar the Last Airbender” and you start with the season 3 episode “The Western Air Temple.” You would, understandably, be very lost in why these characters are in hiding, why they don’t trust the angsty guy with the eye scar and who this big dude who shoots explosions out his forehead is.
But that’s literally the only negative I have to say about this adaptation.
Once you get past that context hurdle, the story follows along the Charles Dickens novel enough that you understand the character beats and motivations easily enough. Granted all the Dickens-era characters are played by characters from the show, but it’s not necessary to know who they are to understand the story.
It also doesn’t hurt that the vocal performances are fantastic.
Kelly Sheridan really gives the Scrooge character here a dominant and icy personality that the character calls for and she pulls that off swimmingly, as is her change of heart as it becomes clear her hatred for the holiday is derived from her past traumas and a reassessment of her belief system for what bettering the world looks like.
Ashleigh Ball’s Ghost of the Past is clearly leaning into Bette Midler for influence, especially with the Southern twang she puts into the words she has to sing. She’s also the only established cast member in this who provides both the speaking and singing voice.
Shannon Chan-Kent really leans into the jazz influence all while keeping the high energy that comes with the character for the Ghost of the Present. Andrea Libman, to her credit, sticks the landing with a character I would prefer to get off a bus to get away from. If you could deliver these lines while talking fast, acting hyper and NOT trip over them, you deserve your roses.
Tabitha St Germain, a woman whose IMDB is like going through a real “holy sh*t, that was HER?!” of voiceover roles does not perform the singing voice for the Ghost of the Future, but credit to Aloma Steele for doing a pretty spot-on job sounding close all while performing in this operatic dirge regarding the visions of the future where everyone died.
Lyrically, the songs vary from being too smaltzy and direct but serviceable to being genuinely poetic. More on that later.
As for the animation; even for a show that was aimed for young children, it’s quite colorful but not overbearingly so. A problem I have with a lot of media that’s aimed for kids is the colors can be too bright, to the point of clashing with each other or causing eye strain. Even when there’s a lot happening on screen as the scene changes from different location, the animation team knows where to draw your eye without filling the screen with too much at once and allowing the backgrounds to match the tone intended. Whether it’s soft and minimal as seen in the visions of the past, vibrant and colorful for the sequence set in the present or dark and gloomy for the visions of the future.
The story itself, while doing enough to keep the themes of Dickens intact, can be summarized with “don’t be a humbug for the holidays and enjoy spending time with people, even if you don’t get the holiday.” Which is a nice message for kids, but as an adult? Might come off as disingenuous, but then again, I’ve worked retail during the Christmas season for years, if that doesn’t make you jaded, I can’t imagine what else would.
Honestly, I was ready to write this episode off as nothing special until this one moment came up that made me stop and think when I reflected on it.
During a trip to the past, a vision of a young Snowfall decorating her classroom is interrupted by a curmudgeon professor called Flintheart, William Samples, who harshly puts her down for these “childish fantasies” that is getting in the way of her magical studies and declares that if she’s serious about becoming a powerful magic user, she needs to focus on her studies or “play with her toys and make nothing of herself.”
What really made me pause was the lyrical line “feeling helpless, can’t make it hurt less, so you go and change your point of view.”
Children are more receptive than I think we recognize. The beliefs and opinions they exposit are formed from their environment that shape them to become the adults today. So when adults impart harsh lessons or speak carelessly down to them, they stick and can shape them to become our own mistakes.
Whether it’s telling them celebrating the holidays makes them lazy and worthless or making them believe they’re superior to the opposite gender, race or religious creed, we need to mind what we tell them lest they grow up so jaded they don’t care how the future is shaped. They’re willing to let the world burn up and leave nothing behind for future generations to enjoy.
Can’t believe that, of all things to make me consider this deep insight, it was My Little Pony.
This Christmas Carol challenge is bringing out the weird in me.
If you’re a parent with kids or a fan of animation, take a chance with this. The colors are pleasing to the eye, the vocal performances are surprisingly good and even when Christmas is never mentioned, it still retains the holiday spirit that we associate with December while giving a pretty decent message of unity.
But if you don’t want the stink of Hasbro to plague your algorithm, just stick with the Mickey Mouse version.
“A Hearth’s Warming Tail” is available to stream on Plex or you can find the whole episode on YouTube.
Next time, we look at another TV musical where the music was created by a Disney Legend and the woman who wrote The Preamble Song for "Schoolhouse Rock."

I wish I had some more seasonal photos to share, but I’m so freakin’ behind in all of my photo backlog, I’m gonna be trucking until 2026!!! 🤣 So here’s the last shot from my “My Little Pony 1983 Original Collection” set by Basic Fun, aka the Pearlescent set! I wanted to do a size comparison for anyone who’s as excited about the new mini blind boxes as I am! So here’s pearly Glory meeting a G3 Ponyville Pinkie Pie, a G1 Petite Pony (Pizza) from my childhood, a G4 blind bag (Cherry Fizzy, Wave 7) and a mini retro Firefly who came with a mini book, and IDK if she ever had an official title. The teeny tiny gang!! 🌟

The Interludes Between Rain and Shine: Crash - Newbie Dash
Part 1 of 2
CW: Profanity (one word, you'll live), Arguments, Shouting
Newbie Dash (Season 6 Episode 7)
Word Count: 1,020
Concerns rise between Spitfire, Fleetfoot, and Soarin when they notice Rainbow's low performance in the past few days. They're aware that Rainbow is capable of doing much better, proven by Spitfire, so they can't help but wonder if something's wrong. After Spitfire's and Fleetfoot's attempts at confrontation go wrong, they count on Soarin, the Wonderbolt Rainbow seemingly is closer with, to get to the bottom of it.
(aka: My self-indulgent mini rewrite of "Newbie Dash" centered on Soarin and Rainbow with mentions to the events of "Rainbow Falls" and "Rarity Investigates." This is NOT a fix-it fic. This was done to fit my HCs.)
this one has a angst
RD and Soarin aren't not friends but also not acquaintances. They're in the middle of both post Rainbow Falls. (pre-SoarinDash / ClipperCrash)
"Crash" (part 1) is a rewrite, whereas "Clipper" (part 2) is a post-episode story.
Crossposted from Fimfiction.net (ch 1)
~
“Crash!” He sees Rainbow flinch before slamming her locker shut and turning her head to face him, bearing a tired, weary smile. Something’s definitely wrong. “A minute, will ya?”
“Sure,” she chirps, trotting towards him.
The Wonderbolts Commander nods, gesturing his wing to follow him. As they leave the locker room, Rainbow keeps her distance from him.
Once they’re outside of the headquarters, Soarin rushes towards the runway, clear of any incoming flies, as its the end of the day, and launches himself into the air. The cyan mare follows right behind.
Breaking the long silence, Soarin asks, “What’s going on, Crash?”
Rainbow scowls, glaring at him momentarily before looking straight ahead again. “Nothing,” she affirms.
“Come on, Rainbow Dash.” He smiles warmly, hoping it can at least bring some comfort. “You know you can trust me, right?”
Her scoff shocks him. “The same way you couldn’t when Wind Rider framed me?” Frustrated, the cyan mare picks up her pace, leaving the light blue stallion behind.
Shit. Panic bubbles within him. She’s still mad about it, and it’s been over a year since the incident. “Rainbow Dash, wait-!”
“Is that the only reason why you wanted to talk?” she snaps. “If so, I’m leaving. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Soarin picks up his pace, trying to keep up with his friend but she keeps going faster. There’s a reason why Spitfire and Fleetfoot wanted to replace me at the Equestria Games tryouts years ago. Shaking the thought away, he pushes himself.
The cyan pegasus understands that he won’t give up so instead, she glides to a nearby cloud. It’s spacious enough for Soarin to join her, and he does just that.
Softly landing on the cloud, he trots towards Rainbow, who’s facing him. Her face is scrunched up, frowning and her eyebrows furrowed. He doesn’t let her current state veer him off. “Crash-!”
“Stop!” she screams, slamming her front hooves down. “Stop calling me that!” With heavy breaths, she holds back her tears as she glares right at the navy-maned pegasus. Her body is trembling, fury and distress washing over her.
“...‘Rainbow Crash?’” All he gets is a snort, and it’s all he needs to know, he figures.
Rainbow thinks otherwise.
“You really wanna know what’s been bothering me?” Rainbow struggles to keep her voice composed but her attempts are in vain as it cracks. “That! That stupid name! I wasn’t always the best flier, you know! I was terrible in flight school, bottom of the class! So bad that it got me that name the same way I did on my first day!”
Her breaths become ragged and heavy, concerning Soarin as he backs away, only for Rainbow to approach him, keeping the distance between them the same.
“It never went away because no one stood up for me. It stuck with me throughout flight school, when I pulled off the Sonic Rainboom during flight camp when I dropped out of school, and even when I left home for Ponyville to be one of their weather ponies, it still stuck around. It took the Best Young Flyer’s Competition for it to stop, and even then, it wasn’t until I was declared the winner that it stopped.” With a moment of silence, apart from her heavy breaths, Rainbow breaks down, quickly turning around and spreading her wings to cover herself, to shield herself.
Soarin’s frozen, processing the context Rainbow provided. Everything starts to make sense as he looks back to the previous days. The mare would constantly stop or flinch whenever she was called “Crash.” He’d been there when Rainbow asked about the names on their jackets.
How he didn’t catch on upset him.
Catching her breath, she continues. “You guys might be okay with it, but not everyone can get over things like that, Clipper.”
The way she punctuates it reminds Soarin of his experience after being “honored” the name. He hadn’t felt good about it either, but not wanting to risk being seen as “not enough,” he stayed quiet.
Still, he persists, pushing away the bitter reminder. “Rainbow Dash, I-”
“Go away…” her voice finally breaks. She’s tired. She doesn’t want to think about those times anymore. Those times when no one but her parents and fillyhood friends believed in her. The times when everypony seemed to be against her for that one thing. For the single mistake she’d made when she was just a filly. “I want to be alone.”
“Rainbow-” he insists.
“You got your answer…” Her wings wrap around her to hide away from him. “Just leave me alone.” She’s hoping he can’t hear her cries, her state of distress.
He didn’t. He stays where he is, and once Rainbow realizes this, she gets up to fly off.
There’s silence for a short while, and the longer it goes, the more anxious Soarin gets, awaiting her departure. Does she have something to say? If she does, will she lash out? Maybe she’s pulling herself together so she can fly safely.
Right as he wishes for her to do something, she speaks, and he so wishes she hadn’t as the words tumble out.
“Out of the ponies here, I thought you would be the most welcoming.” She spreads her wings wide open with aggression, establishing her emotions. “Guess I was wrong..." she huffs, the bitterness piercing his crumbling composure. With a powerful flap, she’s off into the sunset skies as Celestia puts the sun to rest for the day.
Where she’s off to, Soarin isn’t sure. Anywhere but here, that he’s sure of, and he’s absolutely sure that Rainbow doesn’t know about the tears brewing up as the dam holding back his composure broke.
Hiding behind some clouds nearby, Spitfire saw everything, regretting sending her found brother to amend a problem. There was already tension between the two. It just took time to acknowledge it. With a sigh, the yellow pegasus leaps from the cloud and glides down to where Soarin is to comfort him.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbles as the younger stallion sniffles, leaning into the comforting hug of his older found sister.

Couldn't help myself with this one hehe. love these two an abnormal amount <3

Name: Jasmine
Nicknames: Jazzy, Jaz, Mini (her father)
Parents: Cocoa Creme and Turquoise
Species: Dragon and Unicorn
Age: 24
Sexuality: Lesbian, Poly, and GNC
Pronouns: She/They
Place of Birth: The Dragon Lands
Place of Residence: Ponyville
General bio:
Although she grew up in the Dragon Lands with both her parents, Jasmine always felt a little bit more different than her peers, seeing that she didn’t know anyone else who looked like she did. Her peers being full dragons and her only being part dragon naturally left her feeling a little bit different. Even when she would occasionally visit Canterlot, where her Dad was originally from, she was even teased a lot by unicorns growing up. So she tended to keep mostly to herself. Ponies and other creatures continued to give her strange looks even as she got older, she had very few friends growing up because of her trust issues.
Curiosity got the best of them, and one day they decided that they wanted to find other unicorns and ponies that seemed to possess her magic abilities, so when they turned 20 they decided to set out on their own and find a new place to live and study the pony species, and wound up in Ponyville, where all kinds of creatures lived.
They can be a little bit rough around the edges and can tend to be mostly grumpy and nobody really understands why. The truth is that they tend to just mostly keep to themselves because of their past. If anyone got on their bad side, all they needed to do was just give them a look, and they’d know when to back off.
Relationships:
She had a very strong relationship with both of her parents growing up and she still does to this day even if her parents do annoy her sometimes. Her and Cocoa are very gentle with each other and she likes to bake and learn magic with him. If ever Jasmine has ever had a bad day, Cocoa will always be there to comfort his ‘Mini.’
Jasmine mostly goes to Turquoise for advice and wisdom. Her and her Mom tend to be a little bit more rough-and-tumble together more than a cuddly relationship and often like to play-fight. If anyone would dare to hurt Jasmine, Turquoise would be there in a heartbeat to defend her.
Jasmine had one friend back in the Dragon Lands named Munchkin, but things ended on bad terms for them. So she just generally hangs around by herself in her new town with the occasional acquaintance or two when they don’t run away from her like she’s been sprayed by a skunk.
She also foalsits a little griffon she met on her travels named Gregory. He was always so fascinated by Jasmine and her abilities and every time he sees her he has a thousand questions to ask her. He is a bit of a social outcast with the other foals and griffons and because of that he spent most of his time just wandering around alone. Even though he annoyed her, Jasmine still decided to act as a sort of mentor/protector to him and would slash anyone who tried to hurt him.
Talent/Abilities:
Abilities: Jasmine can use magic for levitation, and light when it’s dark out, because of her being half dragon she isn’t able to cast spells like Cocoa or any of the other unicorns. She can also breathe fire and has sharp fangs but the rest of her teeth are normal. She can be very strong when she needs to be because of her dragon strength and agile because of her unicorn body, but she prefers to just lay around and take naps.
Talent: when Jasmine isn’t napping, she can be very clever most times. She has a passion for baking, but isn’t able to do it much because she foalsits. She uses her fire to add just the right amount of simmer to her toasted dishes to finish them off.

I hope Hasbro comes out with 2 inch MLPs again. I really liked having the G4 blind bags because they came with tidbits of personality. They fit in well with my 2 inch Ponyville figures. The only negative thing I've heard about the blind bags was the inaccuracies to show designs
I barely have any G5 ponies because Hasbro went with 1 inch for Mini World Magic :( The ponies from Dollar Tree only have the five main characters from the movie, so I'm going to customize an extra Izzy into a Misty. They made the Busy Books characters between 1.75 and 2.25 inches, which I'm on the fence about getting
#I have G3 Ponyville; G4 blind bag; and some G1 anniversary 2 inch figures set up in a town#my goal is to find more building play sets#I also want to make G3 Storybelle's library and G4 Cloudsdale#my little pony#mlp#text post#bonus chats

I found am old, legit, playable version of the My Little Pony Gameloft game.
Today, I was playing Cookie Run on my computer, as it's available on there and I wondered if other mobile games were also available on PC.
The first that came to mind was the old Mlp G4 gameloft game that I use to play a few years ago. And since my phone would threaten to blow up if I even so much as thought of playing a mobile game, I decided it was worth a shot.
So off I went and Googled the game and behold it was available through the Microsoft game store I didn't even know was on m computer.
Now, if you don't know the game well this looks all normal but this is DEFINITELY an older version. Here's the most recent version for reference.
I go through the poor quality intro that still fills my heart with nostalgia, shaky picture I took included.
And began to play.
At first I was surprised about how unchanged the intro and tutorial was but then I realized this WAS the old intro and tutorial.
The first thing that really started to convince me that this was an older version was the fact I could get gems from the minecart mini game, wich was changed several years ago in the most recent game.
Now, take a look at my game.
I hadn't played in a while but I at least got to play a bit of the version from 2019. There were DEFINITE changes within the main area such as a costume thing by the train station and an events spot by the minecart game. Both of wich are able to be seen in the most recent versions but not in mine.
Another thing is the Apple family characters no longer have their own area.
As you can see here, they can only be bought in Ponyville and the Crystal Empire isn't even an option! This is an OLD version and I really mean it.
I got to level 10 just to check one more thing and-
The map doesn't even exist. You can't go to the Everfree forest or any of the other areas. They don't exist in this version.
This version of the game has remained unmaintained and untouched probably since the game came out. Since I'm uble to play the most recent game, I can't do much more comparison but I'm willing to record and upload a playthrough of this game where I get all the characters. Or as many as possible.
Just... don't tell Gameloft or Hasbro about this. This is a peice of history I wish to remain accessible. I wanted to share this knowledge but not have it erased, wich is why I'm not posting this information anywhere else. This is our little secret [tumblr].com. ;)

Does anyone remember this one my little pony game that was on the hub dot com back when the hub channel still existed and you could make your own pony and play mini games across ponyville. What was its name and can you play it on like the wayback machine or something. I miss it

So I’m making an MLP:FIM oc (idk why I am but I am ig) and his mini backstory is that he moved to Ponyville so he could be himself, at first this was referring to him being transmasc/nonbinary, but than I thought of something even better: They were born an Earth Pony but transition to a unicorn via a magic spell similar to the one that give Rarity butterfly wings in that one episode. They would have transitioned to an alicorn but that’s illegal for obvious reasons. Transphobia doesn’t exists in Equestria, but discrimination against trans-unicorns and trans-Pegasi does (trans-Earth Ponies aren’t really talked about as much as the other two but just as discriminated against).
