Could be an interesting point of contact if Alex ever found himself on the run and in need of supplies, seems a very Scorpia!Alex related situation but I'm sure there could be other reasons too... Also I love James' (and Laura's) characters in the show and it would be cool for Alex to use them as a support network

Any fans of the epic Alex Rider fanfic masterpiece that is "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" by Pongnosis here? 👀 Because I'm attempting to join the ranks of the many fanfic authors writing in the Devilverse with an AU set after Yassen gets promoted to the SCORPIA board.

I was just wondering, how did you come up with the name pongnosis? I've tried looking up if it's a word, cause it sounds like it could be, but I haven't found anything

Thank you! It's part nostalgia and part pun. I have fond memories of the game Pong as a kid so I played around with different variations until I hit something I liked that wasn't taken. It also goes with a previous username of mine to make a 'beer pong' joke (holdmybeer + pongnosis), and I'll never turn down the opportunity to make an awful pun.

💗 a fic you’ve reread again and again and why?

Honestly, it's gotta be The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by @pongnosis. I haven't read the entire thing since my first read-through, but I've reread whole arcs multiple times (especially fond of the early assignments/undercover operations in Singapore and Miami) and recently started a longer (though very chaotic) reread that sparked a couple of plot bunnies. It's still such a compelling AU and the Alex and Yassen dynamic hits sooo many buttons for me.

Got back on my Alex Rider hyperfixation train, ran out of fanfic and started watching S2 of the tv show instead and -

MI6 ops on the show are so incredibly shitty that John Rider is rolling in his grave

You’re telling me Alan Blunt travels with ONE member of security who doesn’t check his secondary car’s grill for a go pro camera the size of a small car bomb??

The literal SAS fail to clear the target’s house properly and then fail to establish a hard perimeter in a basic London terraced borough??

The supposed target (actually Alex, in a light hoodie) elbows a SAS team member in full body armour and the guy just gets bodied??

Hiding Injury my beloved Case in point, some (woefully simplified) summaries of my last few longfics: The Ransom of the House of Fëanor - Elrond hides the slow seeping exhaustion of his fëa kneeling at the foot of Máhanaxar to petition for the release of his fathers from the Void. Where the Blade Cuts the Deepest - Kotallo hides his physical and emotional hurt when he mistakenly thinks Aloy has handed him a dishonourable discharge from her command and nearly dies in the process. Half Alive - Spider hides his injuries from Jake and everyone else after the last battle in The Way of Water because he's terrified of being abandoned again. Icarus - Daniel hides his trimmed wings and later his increasingly worsening health from Max and everyone he loves in order to throw himself into proving he deserves to keep his seat.

...😅 I just do the same thing in different ways lol

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose? Probably Pongnosis' The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. It remains the single best fanfic I've ever read in my life. (If there are any people who remember reading the Alex Rider books in their childhood, this is the fic for you)
