The 1 is talking to an ex and updating them on her life, we got to see it reenacted at the 2021 Grammys when Folklore won AOTY:

The 1 was written between March and July 2020. It had not been long since Harry and Taylor saw each other, we know of at least at Ed Sheeran's Wedding in September. Lover and Fine Line (on Taylors 30th Birthday) came out since then, 2019 had been a big year.

In the long pond sessions Taylor and Aaron talked about how it reflects the whole album. Which is interesting when Taylor also sang in Gold Rush that her mind turns Harry's life “into folklore”.

I see The 1, Cardigan and Exile as one conversation (I'll get to Betty). From pleasantries, expressing support and then rehashing their end.

In the long pond sessions Taylor said the opening line has a double meaning, that the sound of folklore was a new direction and that she was being open to new experiences personally.

Taylor has a similar line to the bus stop, in Cardigan, which is almost a continuation of The 1, “I knew I'd curse you for the longest time / Chasin' shadows in the grocery line” both capture that feeling of subconsciously looking for someone

Taylor says she’s busy, hits the ground running and fits as much as she can in. Ironic lines in a pandemic. The matinee line sounds like she made time to see Dunkirk, but maybe that's just me.

“The greatest films of all time were never made.” I love this line, she’s reflecting that their relationship was cut short. She also refers to it as a film later in the conversation in Exile. The wildest dreams music video also refers to them as Taylor and Burton

In the pre-chorus Taylor reflects on the different views of their relationship in 1989 compared to HS1. They have both said they don’t communicate in person what they can in song.

'If you never bleed your never gonna grow' there is a similar line in Woman on HS1: "he’s right where I should, where I should be but you’re making me bleed”. The reference here is that Harry should have shared his feelings sooner, or then but didn't.

However, in Cruel Summer however, Taylor said "And if I bleed, you'll be the last to know, oh" so it seems mutual to hide their feelings.

In Olivia, Harry said “This isn't the stain of a red wine, I'm bleeding love”

It's alright is a reference to Fine Line's "We'll be a fine line / We'll be alright"

[Chorus] But we were something, don't you think so? Roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool And if my wishes came true It would've been you In my defense, I have none For never leaving well enough alone But it would've been fun If you would've been the one (Ooh)

I love “roaring 20’s” like, it refers to both her age and “it was so Gatsby that year” from TIWWCHNT, referring the party 1989 era before the gates shut in Reputation. 20 is a Haylor theme also

Also tossing pennies and wishes reminds you of I wish you would.

Taylor has described their relationship as 'like the mall before the internet' in Coney Island, an incredibly fun place.

I love the second verse, she is hoping that her muse is living a happy new life. To me 'adventures on your own' conjures up Harry's post One Direction career. Which it may have been with his second album freshly released.

'We never painted by the numbers' is similar to 'you painted my nights a colour I have searched for since' in Question..?

I swore into @mpc705 and worked on a huge. ever met and made some incredible new friends (looking at you @robertritterstudio @emily_norine @palmacosta @_betweentheseams_) I fulfilled a lifelong dream and bathed in the energy of Stonehenge with my partner in crime Alpha Wolf and beloved friends @bethhamptonart and Oglington while visiting some of my favorite people across the pond @dexbonus @iambermudarhombus @gmmoley I finally visited the motherland of Ireland and soaked up all the magick she had to offer, recharging my soul and connecting to my ancestors. I visited Seattle for the first time with my babe @summoplex for @emeraldcitycomiccon thanks to largemetallicfellow sparking a new passion for attending out of state cons that I can’t wait to extend into 2023. I returned to the SoCal con scene as an attendee for the first time since 2019 with my love @its_allykatt debuting the one new costume I made in 2022. And I rounded out my year going big for my birthday. I randomly decided to dig out my old dream diary and I'm literally howling with laughter right now about some of the stuff I wrote down there😂😂 So much mildly cursed but in hindsight also extremely hilarious stuff😭😂

For context, I've been wanting to learn lucid dreaming for a long time (still can't do it unfortunately), and for a while during my teenage years I actually tried writing a dream diary to learn remembering my dreams more clearly (according to my notes I actually managed to even get a few semi-lucid dreams!). Most of these are from the first half of 2018, when I actually managed to write down my dreams consistently for a couple months, plus a few from 2019 and early 2020, in total about 20 dreams. I thought it might be funny to share some of the most hilarious, cursed or just really random moments from them:

I met with people that I either went to school with at the time or used to go to school with before, and we had to participate in various competitions or challenges, usually it was either something absurdly dangerous and cruel or something extremely embarrassing. That sort of stuff occurred in multiple dreams, like one time we were in the sports hall of my old primary school and had to kill each other with spears, another time me and some classmates were participating in a challenge of some random YouTuber and had to jump from a really high tower into a bath tub (which had no water in it but a trampoline).

We had to present our short film projects in English class (this is something we actually did in real life), and one group did a retelling of "The Lion King" where Timon died at the finale and that was just how the film ended. Also General Burkhalter from Hogan's Heroes was there as a film critic. He liked that ending even though most other people were just really confused about it.

I met Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich on a Christmas market and they were a gay couple and I took stupid selfies with them (what the fuck). In another dream Himmler was together with Joseph Goebbels instead, but before I woke up they told me it was actually just a prank and when I looked at the date it was suddenly April Fool's Day.

On my 15th birthday (in real life) I dreamed that it was summer and Christmas at the same time. (I live in the northern hemisphere so that doesn't happen here. Also my birthday is obviously not at Christmas.)

So. Many. Dreams. About. Thrawn. I swear about half of all the dreams I wrote down were just about me being in love with Thrawn and trying to get together with him, the nonsense level of the surrounding scenarios usually varying. There are too many to explain them all, but one of my favourite quote from one of the diary entries is probably "Thrawn and I had an ugly child", it's just so blunt and random😭 In another dream Thrawn randomly had a beard and I lowkey hated it, and in another he turned out to just be a human guy with make-up and I was super disappointed when I woke up.

A bunch of doctors and scientists were investigating our garden pond and randomly found the corpse of a blue-haired girl, but they weren't interested in her at all and just threw her onto our compost heap💀

I was Tony Stark's adoptive daughter (no idea why, I'm not even in the Marvel fandom) and when someone broke into our house to steal his inventions, I tried fighting the guy off and we had a duel with using a pot and a frying pan as weapons. He was arrested and we went eating tacos to celebrate.

Not gonna lie reading through all this madness actually makes me want to start writing a dream diary again😂 Like, even if I still don't learn lucid dreaming, at least I'll have something to laugh about again in a few years xD

The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes is a nonprofit organization in Shaker Heights, Ohio, that works to conserve a natural area, educate visitors about nature, and promote better environmental stewardship. It was founded in 1966 as the result of a volunteer effort to preserve the Shaker Parklands from becoming the route for a new freeway connecting Cleveland's east side to Downtown Cleveland. The nature center offers curriculum-related school programs, including an early childhood program for several east side school districts and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Walkers, runners, and birdwatchers use the trails for exercise and recreation.  The center is home to many wildlife and plant species living in a variety of natural habitats, including marsh, brook, field, forest, and ravine.

    The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes has indoor and outdoor facilities open to the public and is available for rentals, including birthday parties, weddings, and more. It houses classrooms, a meeting room, exhibit areas, a library, and The Duck Pond, a nature-themed gift store. The Jean Eakin Bird Observation Station, the Murphy Carfagna Wildlife Balcony, and a gallery overlook the grounds. There is also an outdoor pavilion, the All People's Trail, and Stearns Woodland Trail in the woodlands surrounding the Nature Center. Hi @taylorswift! Another year, yet another SpoTAYfy wrapped was released. This year was insane. I kind of hyperfixated on your music maybe just a tiny bit -- 166,693 minutes bit, to be more specific. Some people chastise those numbers saying a whole lot of negative things, but you know what? I am so proud to belong in the 0.001% of your top listeners.

You've been my top artist since I decided to join the streaming platform in late 2019. Never shocks me that you're always up there. This year though, I kind of hammered it down to core. Things just slowed down in my life this year and I just had the time to stream and drown in your music as much as I'd like. While the whole world slowed down during the p a n d e m i c, mine was fast-paced filled with daily anxieties and fears as I traversed the insides of our hospital grounds. The whole word began anew this year, and I decided to retreat and do my own kind of isolation. So yes, I had the time to really just take it all in thus the apparent increase in my streams.

It's just funny to me how both version of your famed 10 minute song made it to my top 5. I just somehow dig all the heart-wrenching, gut-punching songs. I've always been like that since 2007, when people made me choose between Our Song and Teardrops On My Guitar, or You Belong With Me vs Fifteen, down to the recent upbeat songs in the likes of Bejeweled, Karma, etc versus You're Losing Me, Castles Crumbling, etc. I fully admit that me and Sadness probably come from the same pond.

The Lakes

The lakes is about escaping the challenging aspects of Taylor Swift's life with her muse to form an artist community like Wordsworth and Keats had in the Lakes district in the 19th century.

Above, the Lyric video shows wildflowers, LK has referenced this song and Harry also has for a Pleasing campaign. In the vertical video Taylor is on a swing, reminiscent of the swing in Seven, possibly about Harry. Finally a photo with a swan in The Lakes District.

In the Long Pond Session Taylor said (I've shortened it)

'The Lakes is a testament of what I wanted to escape from and where I saw myself escaping to. We'd gone to the Lake District in England a couple years ago. In the 19th century you had a lot of poets like William Wordsworth and John Keats. There was a poet district. They had their own community of other artists, which I've always in my career.' Jack: 'it's not just I've found something worth escaping to it’s a person to escape with.” Taylor agreed "That's a huge sincere statement of hope, everything I'm naming is completely small compared to this love.” “Hoax as the ending song was interesting for a couple weeks but then I wanted the real last song. The Lakes shows you exactly what the overarching theme of the whole album of trying to escape and having something you want to protect, protect your own sanity and saying look they did this hundreds of years ago, I'm not the first person who's felt this way.

Taylor said they had gone to the lakes "a couple of years ago", and she described a poet district with an artist community, meaning fellow songwriters. She had been to the Lakes with a couple of years ago with on her first trip there with Harry Styles on her birthday in 2012. At the time Taylor said it was her best birthday since she was 6. Like Taylor, Harry has a similar experience of fame and is a lyricist. Harry has also sung about being in an artist community with Taylor, in Canyon Moon, which has a very similar idea as The Lakes.

I have seen people refer to the Invisible String Lyric "Our three-year trip / Getting lunch down by the Lakes" to point to Joe. While not photographed, their 3rd anniversary was October 2019, or 6 months before this song was recorded. 'A couple of years ago' rather than 'last year' implies the earlier trip. Joe is also not a lyricist, she spoke about an artist community. He is credited as a producer on Folklore. Taylor described how William Bowery wrote the melody's not lyrics.

An elegie is the speech at a funeral, her songs, particularly those she is reclaiming are like diary. She lost her eulogie, the story of her life.

The last line refers back to 'I Know Places' "They are the hunters, we are the foxes" where she and Harry ran from paparazzi, now they hide from every person with a cell phone.

Taylor is saying she is not cut out for the music industry life, she lost the rights to her diary, constantly photographed. In the Long Pond she referred to having this plan for years, which she foreshadowed for Lover, and I think Harry's Peace ring. I think they may have shared this plan when they first visited for when she turned 30 and into 2020. Folklore is about communication and how life differs to what a 23 year old planned.

The final line is so lovely, her muse is Harry Styles. No other partner has inspired so much work or so much success, they have inspired and encouraged each other to do their best work. Even when they are with others for years they still write about each other. When they see each other they are prolific. Harry has even sung about how he writes too much about her. I could list what proportion of awards and hits are about this relationship, but let's stay in the Windermere peaks.

Despite their success Taylor does not think they are cut out for this life. Taylor has sung about Harry's anxiety in New Years Day and Now that we don't talk, it's also apparent watching him at award shows in his solo career. This song and many (Mirrorball, I know places, Slut!, You're on your own kid) are about how fame impacted Taylor.

The first line I think could have 2 meanings, one that the relationship should be over but it is not and the waves are hurt of not being together. Or, and I think this because of the second half, Taylor cannot let her masters go. The last line is a pun on the worth of her words and the poet William Wordsworth.

I want auroras and sad prose, refers to Harry Styles. She describes his eyes as “aurora borealis green” in Snow on the Beach. She also describes him as sad boy in Question..?, he does write sad prose.

In the Long Pond Session Taylor said "I could see this you know you you live in a cottage and you've got Wisteria growing up the outside of it and you just why you know of course they escaped like that." William Wordsworths cottage (below) has wisteria growing on the side, which is a slow growing purple plant, almost a lavender haze!

I love the imagery of 'Red rose grew out of rose in frozen ground', because it refers to Rose, which is a Haylor theme. But also because it refers to the track before Hoax: "My winless fight, this has frozen my ground" It also refers to a theme of hiding their love, "I would die for you secret" in Peace, that something beautiful and no one needs to know about it.

The last lines are so poetic and dramatic I love them. Calamitous love refers to a love that’s “built to fall apart (and back together)” in OOTW or "a crooked love in a straight line down” in IWYW. Taylor used a similar word discussing SOTB, calling it cataclysmic love. Taylor describes her dramatic and passionate relationship with Harry rather than staide and safe one described with Joe.

Her insurmountable grief is all she’s lost, her masters, the things she gave up in your own your own kid and things she has to pine about.

HI IT’S MY BIRTHDAY AND HERE’S A PIC OF MY CAKE.  i was sort of feeling self conscious of posting it bc how obnoxious. but you know what. it’s a pretty cake. and red velvet. with strawberry filling. it deserves to be shown to the world at midnight ( haha who even is awake at this point ) so here we are. i can’t wait to cut into it but i must. Phew, I always say this at the start of my posts, but I seriously don’t have time to write down everything I want to write down. I think I need to get more comfortable just jotting down little bits here and there instead of trying to write down every detail of everything that I want to say 😂

Last Monday was my mom’s birthday and she took the day off work. She picked up donuts, orange juice and champagne in the morning and came over to my house. We hung out and played with Holly until the afternoon, when Jake came home a few hours early so we could go out to the winery. We had a really nice afternoon, wine tasting and then getting a couple bottles and some goat cheese and bread and having a little picnic by the pretty pond. Our winery is on the absolutely most gorgeous property. Jake left his engineering job for one year from 2018-2019 and worked there, but when I got pregnant at the end of 2019 he went back to his old job. Not that the pregnancy forced his hand- there were lots of reasons the job wasn’t a good fit. aaaanyways lol.

Tuesday was my first day being the parent participator in Holly’s preschool class. It was fun. It was awkward at first to be on a playground with my child and a bunch of other kids and be expected to like walk around and interact with the other kids, and not just play with her, but I fell into the groove of it pretty quickly. And it reminded me of when I worked in daycare except for less stressful. Holly did a really good job at sharing her mommy all day and didn’t get jealous or upset like I thought she would when other little kids wanted to sit near me if I was reading a book or something. It was interesting to see more of the personalities of the other kids in her class. They’re mostly sweet little kids, but there is one with an attitude that I am not a big fan of and some behaviors that I hope she doesn’t teach my kid haha.

Wednesday wasn’t a school day for us, but preschool had their first field trip out to an apple orchard about 45 minutes away. “Field trip” in quotation marks because parents were responsible for driving their own kids there, which was a little annoying since it was a 90 minute total drive. It was cool as far as apple orchards go, they had a playground and a little store where I bought the absolute best pumpkin roll I’ve ever had in my life (it was the first pumpkin roll I’ve ever had in my life) but I wouldn’t necessarily drive 45 minutes for it again. My child is so flipping cute though and once I showed her how, she had a fun time picking apples off the trees and riding in the wagon.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch the new Dahmer show but after a few days of friends talking about it, I decided to give it a try last week and I binged all of it in like three days. I definitely could’ve watched it all in one day if I didn’t have a husband and a child lol.

One of my best friends who moved to Louisville a few years ago, came to visit over the weekend, and even though it was only a 24 hour trip we squeezed a lot of fun into it. We colored with chalk outside with Holly and Jake grilled us some delicious chicken. Saturday evening, we got reservations at a cool new bar in town. It’s styled like a speakeasy and it’s literally hidden inside the walls of another bar. There’s a light outside the door and it turns red when they’re at capacity and turns green if you can come in. It’s kept kinda dark and lit with warm vintage lights, the music is quiet and everyone talks at like a regular speaking level. They encourage you to dress nice and they have rules including no hitting on strangers! They have classic cocktails and then they also do the fancy smoked drinks and whatnot. It was a really fun experience and I want to go back with Jake. We barhopped a little the rest of the night, but got home around 10 (👵🏼) and drank wine and watched Netflix. Holly kept calling her “natty” (her name is Maddie) which was really cute.

Just gonna bury this at the bottom here but I have officially lost 45 pounds and gone from size 17 jeans down to a 12 and I’ve actually ordered some 10s because the couple pairs of 12s I just got last week are feeling loose already.
