Heya everyone! Last year was awesome! I loved seeing the amount of participation from the community!! However, I’m hoping to do more this year! Instead of a couple days...this will be a month long event!

Each week will have a theme for creators to follow!

How To Participate:

This month is about creating and celebrating your identity! To do this, follow the prompts and then tag us and tag the posts #fanderspridemeetup2019

I’m not trying to @ anyone but I really can’t stand people who keep making posts/saying things like “x is the most important side”

I think you guys missed the point.

NO SIDE is more important than the others. They all play a part in Thomas, for better or for worse. That attitude is very damaging.

Of course you can have favorites, I have one and have said that many times. But I don’t think he’s more important than the others.

While I am all for the sides getting the respect (from themselves and others) they deserve, the idea that there is a better or more important side is against one of the major themes in the series.

That there are many parts of yourself, that are good and bad, and it is a journey in discovering and understanding them, a journey that can be confusing and scary, and sometimes hard to accept, but the journey is important and can help you love yourself. And that these sides all contribute to your life, whether you realize it.

It’s unfair, and belittles the abilities of the other sides, when you say that one is the best. They all matter. They are all valuable to the team, and they have a say, even if they are wrong, at the moment, they are still part of Thomas, and still should have a say and be respected.

I WANT TEA what's been going on on with you peeps?

Life has been good! I started a new grade, and I have a new teacher and everything! She’s super sweet!! And Jake, Joan, and Talyn are all in my class, as well as this new kid named Terrance! I’m still living with my uncles since mommy is still getting better. She is still not able to take care of me properly because of what happened but she still calls me as much as she can! Also I’m 10 now! Double Digits! -Thomas

Things are fine for us. Jake has been approving but is still recovering from all those horrendous things. But he’s getting happier, and we are all doing better. I do love my nephew. And we’ve befriended the Sanders family despite have some...disagreements at first. -Blake

Mans things are great for the most bestest polyam relationship ever! We all we doing great and Logan’s sister kind of dropped off the face of the Earth for a bit, so that’s weird. Roman is doing better, but is still worried sick about his sister. But he is getting by. Virgil and I have tried are best to be comforts!

Hello guys! Sry for the lack of activity recently.

I have decided that I need another two or three mods to help me with coming up with prompts with this account. If your interested please PM me on here or on my Sander Sides blog @lamp-calm-sanders

Your English must be good. (It doesn’t have to be perfect, as mine is far from that, but it needs to be passible.)

You must be comfortable with all Sander Sides ships. I’m not requiring that you ship them, but if a ship makes you uncomfortable this would NOT be a job for you.

Okay but like imagine Patton cuddling these bears whenever he’s sad and needs comfort because it reminds him of his family and it honestly helps him sleep at night as he loves cuddling and it’s nice.

And maybe one day, Patton starts cuddling with at least one other side. And one night he can’t cuddle them for some reason, he takes his teddies out and he cuddles them and it’s nice (though not as great as the real side)

Or even if it is the other three, one of them can’t go to bed with them and Patton takes out the teddy bear that represents that side and he puts that teddy is the middle.

And one day, when Pat is away from the other three, he comes home while they are asleep and smiles when he sees that in the center, there’s a teddy bear with glasses, a light blue t-shirt, and a cat hoodie on.

Fun fact: I literally just shrunk Patton’s glasses for Logan

LAMP Prompt one

Type: romantic or platonic

Pairing: LAMP

Genre: Fluff, Potential Hurt/Comfort

AU: human au

It’s finally the gang’s first Christmas together. They’re all discussing what they’d like, but Logan hasn’t said anything. Then, they find out he’s never had presents at Christmas. The others make it their mission to buy him the best presents yet.

So, Christmas day comes, and they insist Logan opens his presents last. Roman, Patton and Virgil open theirs (in that order, you can decide the presents), and at last comes Logan’s. He is handed two presents. When he opens them, he finds a small beige teddy bear wearing a white and dark blue patterned scarf, and a life size identical version of the scarf, with a few different details added to the pattern(the most noticeable are smol hearts).

Logan almost cries, it’s the best thing he’s ever received, other than the others’ love.

Day 15 Of Storymas

Pairing: LAMP, A bit of focus on Moxiety

AU: None specified

T/W: Attempted attack.

Summary: Patton just wants to kiss his boyfriends under the mistletoe.

Patton has a goal:

He was gonna get all of his boyfriends under the mistletoe this month.

Roman was easy. Roman was constantly for affection and the romantic was trying to get all three of them under the mistletoe himself. All he did was time it so that it as when Patt put the mistletoe up (He was the tallest so it made sense). He hadn’t told anyone that he was putting it up and he called Roman to the living room, as Ro as the only other person home. Roman came in and immediately realized what happened. He blushed (Because even though he was a huge flirt and lived being affectionate, he was also a blushing mess if someone flirted with him or showed affection to him).  The two then kissed.

Logan was a bit harder, Patton was able to get him under it with a bit of patience and careful planning. He waited until after movie night where they were thinking about other things and was able to get Logan under. Logan rolled his eyes affectionately and they shared a quick kiss.

Virgil was a challenge. Not cause Virge was trying to be, in fact the other two were able to do this easily  it’s just that he and Virgil hadn’t been able to be in the same space or Virgil had found some way to not be kissed accidentally.

But that changed today, he and Virgil were spending the day together. And honestly Patton forgot about the mistletoe. They were cuddling in the living room and cuddled into the couch. Virgil got up to get some snacks while Patton went up to get some extra blankets. When they got back Virgil, being in his rare affectionate mood that day, and surprised Patton from a hug from behind. Patton giggles and turns around to hug Virgil back. They are about to pull apart but Virgil  glances up and blushes. Patton looks up and saw the mistletoe there.Patton smiles and the two kiss deeply. The two then move to the couch and cuddle under the blankets Patton brought and eat the snacks while watching their favorite cartoons. They ordered pizza later and enjoyed each other’s company.

It was truly lovely.

But like what if after Accepting Anxiety he goes back to the imagination wothout the others in order to see if he can do it again. Now that he has deemed it more possible,

So he goes in and he closes his eyes and focuses really hard and it gets it. Patton shows up first, his live the easiest to see. Then Logan, and finally Roman, his taking the most effort. It’s the other three and they are all smiling at him, giving him words of comfort/encouragement and they even embrace him. He wipes away tears of joy and smiles.

He starts doing this all the time, even after his first Christmas with them and all other major moments.

Then one day the sides show up while he’s doing it and they watch him. All horrified when they find that the thing he dreams off the most is being loved and given affection. He had gotten pretty good at this point and they all show up at once now.

The next day they catch him again and while his eyes are closed, they poof the imaginations away and take their place. He opens his eyes and smiles at them. “Hey guys, been a rough day. My anxiety has been being a real jerk. I could really use a hug.”

Patton immediately steps up and wraps his arms around him. Virgil is taken aback about how much warmer it is than usual and it feels real. The other two hug him as well, Virgil is nearly in tears by the end.

They pull away. “Wow guys, that felt really nice. It’s almost like it’s real...”

“It is real!” Patton says. “We saw you do it yesterday, I hope you don’t mind us stepping in.”

Virgil looks on shock “Oh, it’s fine. It was nice, but you guys didn’t have to do that.”

“Nonsense, tall, dark, and emo we’re glad to be here.”

“Roman is correct we apologize about are previous lack of kindness, especially in this area. In the future, we will attempt to give affection more.”

“You’re family kiddo!”

Virgil actually smiles, this is better than fiction.

*staring dramatically out a window*

Imagine when the sides were little, maybe 8 or something, Roman taught them about the imagination, how if they went to that corner of the mind they could make anything they imagined. Roman demonstrates creating a theater full of people who give him a standing ovation as he sings and dances. Patton immediately fills the room with kittens and puppies that all cuddle up to him and get along with each other perfectly. Logan takes a little longer to envision what he wants, but eventually he manages to create a space ship with windows looking out at space and their beautiful blue planet floating in the distance. But with Virgil the room stays stubbornly white- Patton tries to encourage him, although he’s clearly a little exasperated, “It’s not that hard! Anything you want! Just picture it in your head!” and Logan is a little confused and just a hair condescending, “It doesn’t have to be perfect, just imagine how you think the situation you want would be.” and Roman scoffs, “I should have known you have no imagination. I should be thankful you didn’t create some hellish nightmare for us.” And Virgil scowls and stomps off snapping out about how “This is dumb! Thomas has enough going on in the real world, who needs some dumb land of make believe” but once he reaches his room he angrily wipes away tears of frustration. He really had tried his hardest.

But he just couldn’t imagine the others loving him.

Body Diversity In Sanders Sides Fan Creations

Something I’ve noticed in this fandom is that people tend to stick to certain headcanons (HCs) on how the sides look. I mean the Sides looking like Thomas is a given in works that are supposed to take place with them as parts of Thomas, like in the canon universe. But why is it that in a Human Alternate Universe (AU) we rarely to show them looking different?

I’m not saying that if you headcanon them as looking like Thomas or how they are usually depicted in works that it’s a bad thing! You should be able to depict them however you like and I support that! All I want to convey is that we should use Human AUs or other AUs where they are their own separate entities, as a chance to make a diverse cast of characters.

Even if we just change up their body types we could have a way more diverse cast. And I’m not talking about having Virgil be super skinny, Roman be super muscular, have Patton be a tiny bit chubby (which is still rare), and have Logan super tall and lanky like is usual in this fandom. Once again; it’s completely fine if you depict them this way, that’s just not what this post is about!

I mean, why not have more works where the sides are transgender? Why not have them have vastly different body types than canon? Why not have stories where the sides are still considered beautiful without being described as conventionally beautiful? So why not show more body diversity?

Why not make Virgil chubby because he’s an anxious eater? Why not have him be tan because not everyone with anxiety or a mental illness is pale white (well white in general) or stick thin. Why not make Patton tall and muscular? And I mean muscular like broad shoulder big man Patton, not like six-pack Patton. Why not have short Loagan with freckles, and is simultaneously adorable and taken seriously? Why not have Roman who is short and naturally skinny or naturally big or naturally chubby, and can still defend anyone without having to look like what people consider “strong”.

Why not have more body type variations and other descriptions of the characters and still have them described as attractive? And if you want to project things that you struggle with your body or give the sides traits you have that aren’t conventionally seen as attractive you can do that! It’s good if you believe in writing/drawing a diverse cast and characters but it’s more powerful if you actually show it.

Again, if you like what the HC’s for their bodies usually are then that is great! But it would be nice if we showed more body diversity. Because most fics I read/art I see, despite having good intentions, when describing the sides will describe them close to what is conventionally taken a beautiful in order to convey they are attractive.

And I’ll admit I’ve done that myself in my work but I am now trying to show that so many different types of people are beautiful. And I want to be an example of it. Because in real life not just people who are naturally tall and skinny or tall and muscular are beautiful. They aren’t just the only people who exist.  

People of various body types are gorgeous and deserve to be represented. People like me who don’t look conventionally beautiful deserve to recognized as a beautiful part of life. People who don’t look like me but don’t fit conventional standards deserve to be recognized and we can always add more representation.

I would also like to add, and this part may be (understandably) controversial, why don’t we imagine the sides as people of color (POC). As a WOC I have always felt comfortable projecting parts of myself, such as my sexuality (and my struggles with it) or struggles with mental illnesses, and yet I never felt comfortable projecting the struggles I have face as someone who is mixed from many communities and within myself. And I always wondered and feared that other POC might feel this way. So why not, the ideas as the sides being represented as people of color makes me happy because that can get more positive representation. Though if you aren’t for this or don’t feel comfortable doing this, I understand completely.

I feel that we as a community could benefit from introducing more diversity in our creations and I for one am very much for this. I am very much for discussing this further but please be polite! Again, if you like your own HCs for the sides and they are the ones that are typically given, that is valid! But representation can feel really good, especially if it’s in a positive environment.

And now to hear a part from my good friend @ionadh who I have talked about this with.

“The sides are a part of Thomas so it’s understandable to have them all have features like Thomas (even if it’s an alternate universe where they are separate from Thomas) but the Sides could be a part of you as well. We have widely used headcanons about the sides that change how we perceive them even in the canon universe, like for example, Patton with freckles is widely known and used. Why does the diversity between the sides stop there?

Give me Logan with top surgery scars and a man bun. Give me Virgil with beauty marks all over and a chubby tummy.  Give me Patton with stretch marks and heterochromia iridum eyes. Give me Roman with long beautiful dreads and almost non-existent muscles.

When we write, draw, edit, or even imagine these characters we tend to project ourselves onto them. I’m a trans guy and Logan is my favorite side so when I imagine him I put that huge personal piece of me onto him. If you want to write the sides as transgender, or hispanic, or bisexual, or whatever because you want to relate to them more then I say go for it!”

I, personally, have struggled with accepting the different things that make me up and I know a lot of others struggle with that as well and I feel that seeing more good and diverse representation or feeling free to put yourself into a character can help you, and others who have similar struggles, accept themselves. Because from experience I remember times where I’ve read the few fics where the Sides are diverse and one of them looked similar to me body type wise and it made me happy because they were still shown as beautiful and it helped me feel beautiful.

I hope you all consider this! And if you want to discuss this, I am open for discussion, just please keep it polite.

Patton sighed contently as he sipped on his hot cocoa. He was in the living room surrounded by his love ones. To be more specific, his three amazing boyfriends Virgil, Roman, and Logan.

Roman had made it a winter wonderland in the yard outside of the their house in the mind palace and after making sure that they were all wearing the right clothing (Virgil didn’t want to risk one of them getting too cold), they had taken advantage of Thomas’s day off to spend some time together in the snow.

And time together they spent. Patton smiles fondly as he thought of the events of the day. They started by making snow angels, they then sled down a couple of hills (after assuring Virge it was safe). Next, they built four snowmen or, as dubbed by Patton, Snow famILY. (Patton totally didn’t notice Virge holding back a grin or more strange, Logan rolling his eyes affectionately and even having the smallest bit of a smile.)

They even had a snowball fight. Emotions vs Not-Emotions. In other words Patton and Virgil vs Logan and Roman.

There was entertaining banter had by everyone. Especially between Virgil and Roman. Of course it wouldn’t be Logan and Roman, without a little playful arguments. But they were all in good fun.

Virgil and Patton won in the end, but it was close. Roman pouted a bit, hating the lost, but the consolation prize was being carried back by the winners. (Which was honestly easy since Virge and Patton were bigger than both of them, and Patton was stronger then one would think.)

When they got home, Roman and Logan gave Virge and Pat their prize. This being a cup of hot cocoa. He could hear them from the kitchen teasing each other (most of which coming from Roman) but he could hear joy in their voice. Soon it was done and they were enjoying the delicious drink. The TV was playing in the background but none of them were really paying attention to it. Currently he was on Roman’s left and Virgil was on Ro’s right. Logan sat to the side a bit away.

Logan was last to join the relationship, and would sometimes hesitate is showing all of them affection or on being part of more affectionate times. Sometimes it was because he simply didn’t want to, other times it’s because he doesn’t feel like he really should be part of it.

Patton remembers having that conversation with him, home telling them that he sometimes feels that the other three made mistake in falling for him.

He was scared to tell him, especially Roman cause he was scared he wouldn’t get. They had made a lot of progress of course, evident in the fact that Logan wanted to try a relationship with him, but he still had a little bit of the mindset that Roman wouldn’t get...it.

Of course Roman understood, he felt that way a lot himself. And they tried to help each other with that. (Patton and Virgil were of course there for support too. Virgil and Patton has their own issues with self hate and mental illness and they understood the best you can when it comes to someone else’s mental health)

Patton smiles at how far the creative and logical side has come in terms of their relationship. Before they were hardly polite to each other, now they were well…

“Logan! Come give the Prince some love. I am dying from lack of affection from you!”

Logan rolled his eyes but began to walk over.”You are not dying Roman. You are, in fact, in great health, as Thomas is in great health.” He sat down on top of Roman, Roman wrapping an arm around him. Logan’s feel rested on Virgil’s lap and herestef his back onto Patton’s chest.

They had been meaning on making the couch a bigger size for a while now but never “remembered” to do. Until (or if) that day they were “stuck” sitting close together on the couch.

Roman stook his tongue at Logan, who rolled his eyes. Virgil snickered, and Patton smiles at them adoringly.

Time spent with Hot Cocoa and the ones you love truly are special, aren’t they.
