ABO dynamics

Zoro doesn't wear a collar. It's one of the first things people notice.

It's usually: swords, hair, and no collar.

They always think it gives them an edge, like Zoro isn't aware of the fact that he's not wearing one.

They holler and cackle, calling out the same jokes over and over.

"Does your pack know you're out all by yourself?"

"Who's your alpha, sweetheart? We'll give them a call to come get you."

"Looks like you're missing something, omega! Did you lose it or did you get it taken away?"

They laugh.

He doesn't.

They lose their heads.

He gets paid.

He knows what he looks like, bound and collarless. Morgan knew exactly what he was doing when he had Zoro tied like this.

Anyone could bite him when he's this restrained and exposed. He's been severed on a golden platter to anyone with enough balls to try their hand at claiming him. He's ripped out throats for less and he's ready to bloody his mouth again if needed.

The strange alpha that comes out of the grate doesn't comment on the lack of collar, his gaze barely running over his throat before continuing to talk. He smiles and shows sharp teeth.

The alpha unties him and just disappears. It's... anticlimactic. He's so used to people wanting something, hinting at something more, that this is strange.

The beta girl is untrusting. He feels her look at his neck and carefully catalogue it in her head as a weak spot if needed. He can't blame her. After all, he's doing the same thing

The little ship smells heavily of tangerines and ink, citrus scents are always a little overwhelming. There are unknown scents under her scent that are already fading away and he doesn't care to ask who they were.

Luffy's scent of cedar smoke and salt is powerful, and he scent marks everything almost absentmindedly. Dragging his hands over surfaces, rubbing his wrists on anything within reach, even pressing his cheeks against them quickly.

They don't crowd Zoro, even though he knows they want to.

Omegas are comforting, they usually mean pack and safety. He doesn't know what they think when they look at him but no one has ever looked at him and thought safe.

A lot of people are uneducated. They assume omegas aren't often at sea because they're too soft, too delicate.

Pirates though, especially the good ones, know what omegas really are. Vicious, protective, and a nasty opponent in a fight.

The older generations know it, and when he eventually interacts with Garp, he'll be pleased that the old man seems begrudgingly impressed that Luffy had roped Zoro into his crew.

Pirates in the grandline and beyond will know. Omegas aren't often at sea because they're protecting what's theirs, usually a home or a pack.

If you can get a omega to call your ship home, you'll have some of the fiercest protection available.

First mates are ideally omegas. They're well loved by the crew/pack and amazing fighters. They're usually content to follow those they trust but like to do their own thing enough that being firstmate allows them the freedom they need.

The clown separates them and hands Nami and Zoro off to be kept in their restraints. They're left with a alpha who keeps talking about revenge or something else annoying, getting close like he wants Zoro to think he'll bite before pulling back. He doesn't react and the alpha's scent burns with anger before he spins the wheel Zoro's on and starts trying to scare him.

The smell of his anger mixes with annoyance quickly. Every thud of the blade into the wood is meet without a flinch and the alpha gets more and more riled up. Zoro doesn't really care. Even if some of the blades hit they wouldn't cause irreparable damage. A inconvenience at best, especially if Luffy needs them to fight.

They pick up another beta, twitchy and ballsy with how he goes to mention Zoro's lack of collar a few times, each time getting hard looks from Nami and Luffy to stop.

The butler turns his nose up at them and he feels painfully out of place. Everything around him is nice and expensive, he's like a street cat let in on accident.

It smells sterile in the whole manor, he keeps rubbing at his nose and sneezing. There's something in the air that he can't name exactly but it has him on edge.

Usopp is talking about the girl, Kayla or Kay or something like that. He looks at Zoro like he can help with whatever relationship he has with her but he can't. He doesn't even know what the girl is, the smell of sickness and that ever clinging sterile smell surrounding her. He assumed she must be an omega since Usopp was asking him but he's not the person to ask about this stuff.

When he wakes up in the well he knows they pawed at him. There are many people who would take advantage of a unconscious and unmated onega. A chance to see him up close like he's something exotic.

His neck feels wrong, like thin threads or spiderwebs are very lightly touching the skin. The disgusting scent of the maid and chef stick to him and he even rubs his neck against some of the rocks to get it off.

The waiter looks appalled when he looks at Zoro, eyes clearly aimed at his bare throat. He moves like he's going to say something about it before his eyes catch on Nami and he's completely focused on her. She catches his eye and he knows she's putting up with the waiter so Zoro won't have to.

Mihawk cuts him open and calls him magnificent. It has his instincts demanding he roll belly up and purr.

The stench of infection, sickness and fish are overwhelming when he wakes up. Everything hurts and his head has the cotton feeling of too much sleep. Luffy is on him and around him, talking too fast for Zoro to catch most of it but he gets the tone.

He wakes up with the feeling of someone touching him again but it's different than the well. It's not as bad when it's Luffy.

Arlong's crew says omega like it's his name. They chatter at him and wait patiently for a opening to sink teeth or claw into his unprotected neck.

The clown howls with laughter from the bag at the waiters hip.

"Better teach them what omegas are really like, kiddo!"

He despises that the fucking clown has more respect for omegas than most people.

The waiter, Sanji, isn't too bad once he settles in. He still seems stuck on Zoro's lack of collar but he never says anything. One of the others must have spoken to him about it.

They bicker and fight but it's never because of a comment towards Zoro being a omega. He hides a grins everytime they fight, pleased that his crew respects him enough to honor his desire to not talk about it.

He tells them he thought Kuina may have claim him if they had more time together, if they'd got the chance to grow up together.

He talks about the way they were always paying attention to each other, trading harsh blows and barely there touches. She called him pretty and constantly knocked him on his knees, he was furious that it made him blush at the time.

Then she died. And it felt like the only claim he could ever get from her was Wado Ichimonji.

In a strange way, the sword is like a collar. She's still with him, telling him to draw his sword to defend himself and sitting blinding white at his side like a claim. The sword deters unwanted attention the same as a collar would.

They remember the name of the sword now, make a point to say it's name and be respectful of it. He refuses to acknowledge that Kuina would be charmed by it, that she'd probably really like them all.

He also ignores the voice in his head that quietly asks if this could be the start of a pack and a home.

It takes a while to notice but he's been scenting the ship. The delicate skin of his wrists red and raw before fading into a thicker layer of skin.

His scent is saturated into the ship and the crew. The start of a claim is clear.

They haven't said anything and he isn't going to be the one to bring it up.

His heat is... mildly concerning. He knows Luffy doesn't expect anything from him and the rest of the crew is on the same page, but he can't help the little curl of worry in his belly.

What if something happens? What if they haven't been around a omega in heat before and get grossed out? What if they never think of him the same?

Sanji is a anxious and furious presence that lingers. He does everything he can to get Zoro to eat. Healthy snacks, fruits and vegetables, a extra serving of meat, protein drinks, etc.

He looks pleased everytime Zoro eats something and his scent goes happy. Luffy huffs a bit at the extra meat Zoro gets but someone must have explained it to him because while he still pouts, he doesn't try to steal it from Zoro anymore.

He gets lathargic, finding more and more creative places to sleep.

The third time Usopp almost has a heart attack from unexpectedly coming across him, they decide to encourage him to nest in his room.

He doesn't know what to do with all the stuff given to him. It's soft in his hands, his rough skin catching on all the fine fabrics. His nests are usually small and made of whatever was available, often just a spare shirt and a few towels. These are actual nest supplies though. Pillows, blankets, cushions, etc.

Of course the ship was fancy enough to have these hidden away.

He just stares at them for awhile before he gets restlessness. Starting to arrange and sort them. He's got a nest by the end of it, the best one he's ever had. He strips and sprawls belly down in it, a few of the blankets tugged over him.

He purrs and shoves his face into the pillow under him, it smells like dust with faint hints of the crew.

They haven't discussed anything, there's no bonds or claims that hold them responsible for helping him during his heat. There's no bond or claim that says he owes them anything.

It's hard for people to be around a omega in heat and not want to be close though. His scent is warm like a candle, meant to coax pack close for comfort and protection while he's unable to defend himself.

His heats aren't like normal heats. There's usually no sexual component to it. He's had too much damage and scarring to his body, injuries to critical points like his scent glands and lower belly.

His heat is usually miserable. The increased hormones and stress on his body makes everything ache. All the old injuries and broken bones that healed wrong flaring to life. He usually spends the days curled up and forcing all the whines that want to slip out down into his chest. Waking up at the end of the cycles dehydrated, starving and exhausted.

He can hear them hovering outside the door. Hushed whispers and and footsteps that are meant to be quiet enough he can't hear them. It grates on his nerves and he tells himself that's why he forces himself up, wraps one of the stupidly soft blankets around him and goes to the door.

He yanks it open and they all freeze. The smell smacks him in the face and his instincts purr pack. He doesn't say anything, just turns and goes back to his nest. Burrowing back under everything and taking the opportunity to enjoy the fact that he didn't feel absolutely miserable yet.

He sleeps here and there, listening to the other slowly drift closer and get more comfortable. He actually feels good.

He's more comfortable than he thinks he's ever been. Body practically boneless and a purr in his chest that he's just managing to hold back.

His scent glands don't burn, his body doesn't ache, his head isn't spinning.

It's because he has people with him. He knows, okay?

Not only do they insist on making sure that he's drinking and eating enough, the scents and comfort go a long way.

There's a reason omega seek out packs.

They stay outside the nest, respectful in a way that annoys him at the moment because he wouldn't mind them being closer and asking seems... very intimate.

Luffy watches him like a hawk the whole time, eyeing him carefully whenever he moves and new skin shows, like he's trying to make sure there's nothing physically wrong. He's restless, not sure what to do and how to make it better.

He ends up dragging Luffy in first. Snagging a wrist and huffing angrily when the arm stretches instead of dragging Luffy closer.

Eventually he gets the alpha in. He can't help the purr he lets out when Luffy is under all the blankets with him. He's warm and Zoro isn't even embarrassed that he's completely bare when he presses closer.

It's dark and almost stifling with how much body heat Zoro's giving off. The air smells like them and he thought he was already relaxed but he's boneless now.

Luffy doesn't seem to know what to do. His hand hover over his hips and his waist before he seems to decide he can touch.

He's instinctively positions himself between Zoro and the door. The others are also between the nest and the door.

Luffy smells like fresh cut cedar burning and salt. It's sinking onto Zoro's skin and his lower belly is warm. He can't get close enough.

Nami's citrus and ink, Usopp's fresh earth and herbs, Sanji's palo santo and spices all cling to him and the nest.

His own scent, of cold steel, summer rain and tart blackberries isn't very typical of a omega but it doesn't seem to bother them. They're all taking it in like they can taste it if they try hard enough.

The others end up joining him and Luffy, dragged in one after the other. The nest is big enough for all of them, which means he was planning on them joining him even if he wasn't fully aware he was.

He feels good.

He's given up trying to stop the purr and it rumbles from his chest. He's never had a heat like this and he understands the appeal if this is what it's like with pack. It's like a pleasant high, he's sleepy and very happy.

Luffy doesn't want to leave so they shuffle between Nami, Sanji and Usopp on watch. It's hard with only 3 of them but they can leave easier than Luffy, who seems to permanently be attached to Zoro.

He's touching Zoro constantly. Petting at bare skin or face buried is the omega's neck. He nips a nasty bruise on his throat but Zoro doesn't stop him. He'll worry about it later.

He ends up in Luffy's lap towards the end, chests against each other, Zoro's legs around Luffy's waist and his chin on the alpha's shoulder.

Luffy has possessive arms around around him, face tucked into the side of Zoro's neck and legs crossed to support the omega.

He should have know, there's a reason captains have a reputation for being notoriously protective and territorial.

He blinks at the others sleepily when they come in, making a little noise from the back of his throat that has Luffy's shoulders dropping from where they'd slowly been raising.

Nami steals the tray Sanji had been holding, who looks like he may take it back before he seems to realize it was Nami.

Luffy back is to her and Zoro's watching her, chin still digging into Luffy's shoulder.

The kiwi is sticky in her fingers and it runs juice down her hand and wrists but Zoro perks up a bit when he sees it, the hunger and thirst of a ending heat taking over.

He doesn't hesitate taking it from her fingers, swiping his tongue to grab the juice left on her fingers before pulling away and chewing. His lips are shiney and his scent is warming at being surrounded by pack and alpha.

Usopp steals the next piece of fruit to give, and then Sanji. They keep that rotation until Zoro's falling asleep again and turning his head away from them.

The room smells like pleased omega.

The nest stays, even after the heat is over. They don't talk about it because it's still a little raw. There's a lot of unknown.

The start of a pack bond has been strongly established though, centered around Zoro and waiting quietly for the next step.

What makes Usopp so shippable for you (or even overall, what do you enjoy about Usopp's dynamics in his gen/romantic ships)?

He was one of my favorites from the little I've seen/read of OP, so I'm curious to know your thoughts!

What a cool ask! I have an old post both on Tumblr and Dreamwidth about Usopp's emotional role among the Strawhats in general and his platonic dynamics with Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and Chopper in particular. The Dreamwidth post is available here: https://rainsometimes.dreamwidth.org/167329.html . In romantic ships, well, when it comes to Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Sanji, I would just add romantic and sexual attraction to the platonic foundations mentioned above. With Luffy - Usopp is up for silly shenanigans and while he will veto the most bizarre ideas Luffy might come up with in bed, he's likely to caught up in fun flights of fancy. I view Luffy as pretty uninterested in dominance play in the bedroom and I think Usopp would be all on board with that, too. They have a really strong bond in canon and it would be a silly and for the most part - if not always - harmonious ship. (Naturally there would be plenty of slapstick violence when Luffy is being idiotic.) With Zoro - the chill relationship I mentioned in the old post would serve them well in a romantic relationship. Now, I do think that Zoro is someone who will always place Luffy's dream and wellbeing higher than anything else, but I actually think that Usopp is similar to Zoro in that regard, and so it makes good sense to ship them. At the same time that they are mostly pretty chill, there's also an interesting potential tension there especially tied to them both being so much engaged in the idea of being a "warrior", with inner and outer strength, pride, and masculinity - but not in the combative way that Zoro and Sanji have. -That being said, I also think Usopp/Sanji/Zoro makes for a spicy yet ultimately functional three-way-ship.

With Nami: they are just such good buddies and they're easily tactile and it's not that hard for me to see them in a more physical and sensual light. Nami generally doesn't seem to be into dudes but I can see Usopp as her one exception. ...Except I also like both Luffy/Nami/Usopp and Sanji/Nami/Usopp! Look, Usopp is just so great for OT3 ships. With Sanji: it can easily be seen as bros with benefits, but they also both have a romantic side in common, even as they're both heteronormative enough to have assumed that romantic side will be directed towards women. Sanji/Usopp can have a delicious yearning undertone, whether mutually or not. With Robin: here the maturity gap might be just a bit too big (I'm not thinking so much in number of years, more in personality types) but there are still ways I can see them working together. Even more than Robin/Usopp separately, though, I think Franky/Robin/Usopp would be a delightful OT3. With Franky: despite Franky being older than Robin in years, he's got more childish sides to him and I don't feel as much of a maturity gap with him. Him and Usopp have a number of things in common and they hang out a lot. And one more OT3 I've seen in the wild is Franky/Zoro/Usopp which I also think would be a fine ship! (Incidentally, putting Usopp at the end of most of these shipnames here doesn't say anything about my headcanons for sex preferences, it's just a random way of writing the shipnames. Personally I see Usopp as a switch, most of the Strawhats as switches, and Zoro as a bottom. But I'm totally on board with other interpretations too!) Then Kaya of course is the one with the canon shiptease and I think has a pretty good chance of becoming canon at the end. I like the ship - but only if either Usopp is willing to settle down for at least ten years or so on an island and stay put, or Kaya is healthy enough to sail with adventures as a shipdoctor with Usopp. I don't want Usopp to be an absentee husband and father like Yasopp was. I was going to go on naming other ships but if you haven't read or watched much of One Piece I'm not sure if they would mean much to you. Summing up, I think the one caveat with shipping Usopp is that he's pretty young in years and while he's seen and experienced lots of things on their journey, he's still not the most mature character out there. So for these reasons many people in the One Piece world might not be into him. Of course there could be other reasons he wouldn't be their type too. Obviously he's not conventionally handsome or consistently fearless and confident! But many of Usopp's qualities are on the social and emotional side and the way he's a tactile dude with flexible personal boundaries means he's easy to ship all over the place, in my eyes!

This doesn't have to be a request if you don't want to write it. But can you imagine what it would be like to be the boyfriend in a poly relationship with Zoro and Sanji? Like Zoro focuses more on his swords, drinking, and napping. But Sanji focuses on women, cooking, and smoking. I'd feel so bad because while you love them both, you just don't feel like they actually love you as much.

And so was everyone, seeing as Nami let Sanji flirt with her and buy her things.

What a traitor or was she ever on his side?

He was an outsider in his own relationship, unsure what to do.

But he believed he had an answer to it all and he hated it.

(Name) Walked to deck where he saw his boyfriends drinking and partying with the others, staring at Sanji chatting up the girls and Zoro absolutely tanked, eyes growing empty and distant at the sight.

It was usopp who noticed (name) first and went up to him "you alright?" He asked the other who slowly stared at the black haired man "I'm fine... I just realized I have something to do"

(Name) Took a quill and some parchment and wrote up his breakup letter before placing it on Sanji's bed, knowing he was more likely to read it before grabbing his bag and belongings.

A quick conversation with Luffy and a mournful goodbye from him and (name) left the ship, the captain understanding why he needed time to himself and to think things over, giving him a compass as a parting gift.

(Name) Didn't know how they would react or if they cared but he knew this was what he needed to do.

And hopefully he would come out happier.

It's been—” And then he freezes, because yes, actually—something is very, very wrong. The Sunny is anchored just off shore, close enough to see the deck but far enough away that the crew has had to take the Mini Merry to make land. Scattered across the beach in various stages of chaos—rolling around, yelling, fighting—are his crew but not his crew, so similar and yet so, so different. They look younger, fresher, and whatthefuck there, on the deck of the Sunny just peering over the railing, he catches a flash of green—his own green hair— “Ah, fuck,” he grunts, and then immediately turns back around because no, actually, he does not want to deal with this.

Its so funny to have them realising all the way to WCI/Wano, theyre all so silly. ALSO CHOPPER- He's new to the crew and giving them all a check up to get up to date with their physicals and he's all like 'dont worry Sanji your secret is save with me!! I wont tell anybody!!' And sanji thinks he's actually talking about the nr 3 burnmark (hc of mine that judge labeled all his children) so she's very thankful to him

I'm so glad you enjoyed them! Fem!Sanji is fun to write, especially when no one knows she's a girl because how can you not know? She is Zeff's little girl! The dumb brat he gave up a leg for on a rock! She is his pride and joy, and everyone knows this!! Also, I love the idea of the burn mark and the confusion therein for Sanji because Chopper thinks she's trans masc when she's not, she's just waiting for her mom's genes to kick in more. Also the shipping, I agree with East Blue Polycule because you can fit all that in together in one go and no one is going ask questions. But I'm getting ahead of myself and skipping to the regulars first so that I can get some funny scenarios out of my head first.

First, Mihawk has watched this girl grow up and probably saw the fall out after shortly after Zeff butchered her hair. When he asked about it, he gave Zeff the most unimpressed look Zeff has ever received because good fuck he could have just braided it until they got into town? That's all he says about that because Sanji is still upset her hair is gone. Then some years later he's calling Zeff and asking when Sanji changed her gender and Zeff is confused because she hasn't but anyone and everyone are calling her a boy, even that crew she set off with. Mihawk is staring out of his office with the denden with an empty gaze as the greenhaired moron he almost slaughtered on the deck of Baratie is in his castle with one of his fellow warlords first mates and he's having a time but at least that hasn't changed.

Buggy is also probably really confused about 'Black Leg Sanji' and "his feats" and when Garp is arresting him they're debating whether or not Sanji would be a good marine until Garp calls her a boy and Buggy corrects him. Garp is staring down at the clown who looks back and is like 'wait, wait. Zeff's called her "princess" and you never questioned why he would call his son that?' to Garp's non-committal shrug of 'He's Zeff.' which, okay yeah, sure. It's Zeff but Zeff never used it in a derogatory manor. Sanji is quite literally his princess. She is the princess of the Baratie that Buggy used to do card tricks for because Zeff had no idea what the hell to do with kids.

Now onto the hilarity because East Blue Poly would be exceptionally hilarious. They all start dating and Sanji thinks Nami is going through a sexuality crisis because she's a girl where as Nami thinks Sanji's a boy and it's never cleared up. Sanji looks particularly butch because it made her life easier at Baratie, and she doesn't want to ruin dresses and skirts and blouses with cooking or blood. She also just never really wore make up unless Baratie was closed for some celebration or something, when she had a reason to doll up because she was so busy. Also she wakes up and goes to bed before and after everyone else so no one catches she's a girl. I think the hilarious exception of Ace clocking it in Alabasta and telling Luffy he's got the prettiest girl and the best cook wrapped in one is an amazing thing and Luffy goes with it but still asks why Ace called Sanji a girl and Ace is confused now. They never clear it up.

When Sanji is training and everyone is talking about forcing her into dresses Sanji is like 'I don't need to be forced, I love dresses! I just don't like ruining them with blood.' and coming back to Sabaody with a few dresses, skirts, blouses, more fem clothing and everyone is like 'you don't have to wear those if they make you uncomfortable' is sending some weird messages to her so she just doesn't wear them still. For the wrong reasons and everyone is confused. Like WCI when Sanji's in her wedding dress and fighting and mourning the blood on the dress and Luffy and Nami are asking her why she's in one because she doesn't wear that stuff and Sanji says she thought they didn't like them on her and the very quick explanation of 'we thought you were a boy!' is Sanji going 'How?' as Nami complains she had a sexuality crisis for nothing until Luffy asks about him, Zoro, and Usopp; Nami concedes that the crisis wasn't for nothing then.

Nami makes sure she's in a kimono like she and Robin are as an apology because they didn't realize that Sanji was a girl and was just dressing for convenience, she's not a boy and was a princess and she is loved.

Also my con was lovely but I'm so glad it's over.

Chopper was going crazy, one minute his stethoscope was there and the next it was gone, he's sure he left it on his desk and yet its not there, unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened, it'll go missing and then an hour or two later it will be back exactly where he left it making him feel like he's losing his mind. Pushing open the door to the kitchen the doctor sighs his head low and shoulders slumped "Hay buddy, what's up?" Zoro asks from his place at the counter a class of sake in his hand while Sanji is cutting up veg for tonight's dinner on the other side of the counter. Chopper drags himself over to the counter and hoists himself up onto one of the stools before laying his head on the counter a wave of frustration washing over him "I can't find my Stethoscope, i know i left it on my desk but now its gone, it keeps happening, usually it shows up in an hour or two but it's been longer than that and its not there… I think i'm going crazy" Chopper lets out a sad whimper earning a pat on the back from the swordsman "I'll help you look for it" Zoro states after downing his drink on one go and standing out of his seat "I'll help too, just in case Zo gets lost along with the stethoscope" Sanji chuckles placing his knife down to grab the board of vegetable taking them into the pantry so their captain can't eat everything while he's away "The ships out at sea, there's no where to get lost" Zoro growls slamming his hand down on the counter in anger but only earns a chuckle and a cheeky grin from the cook "Oh, knowing you Zoro, you'll find a way" Sanji grins after locking up and making his way around the counter to pat the swordsman on the shoulder.

Chopper covers his mouth trying his best to hold back his laughter instantly feeling cheered up by them not only helping him but also by teasing each other. As the two bicker back and forth the doctor hops off his stool and follows the two out of the kitchen and onto the deck "I'll go ask the others, you two head off and start the search.. Chopper keep a close eye on him" The cook grins still teasing the green haired man who simply crosses his arms over his chest and grumbles insults under his breath, with a big smile Chopper nods grabbing Zoro's pant leg and starting to walk around the ship. As the search goes on more of the crew get involved in looking starting to become a little concerned at how frustrated and depressed the doctor is starting to become, he's not one to loose his stuff so to fully lose something has him starting to doubt himself "Where is it?" Chopper cry's out now back in his medical room with Zoro and Sanji both tearing the room apart trying to find one objects "It's going to be ok Chopper, we'll find it and if we don't I'll buy you a new one on the next island" The cook tries to reassure his friend, pulling the reindeer into a hug Sanji pats his back letting Chopper cry out of frustration, Zoro groans placing the bad back down and pushing it back to where it once was before running a hand through his hair getting frustrated as well, anger grows in him hating to see his crew mate cry especially Chopper, the swordsman is about to flip out cut this room apart when the door opens.

Robin steps in with a sweet smile and kind eyes getting the three to look at her, Zoro's growls louder annoyed at her happy face in a situation like this, Chopper rushes out of Sanji's arms to run over to the black haired woman wrapping his arms around her leg and crying harder while Sanji lets a small smile form in his face happily greeting the woman "Robin-Chan, i'm guessing by your beautiful smile you've found something" The cook comments stepping closer to the woman to pat Chopper on the head getting the reindeer to calm down and look up at Robin with hope "I have, I've found your stethoscope, although i think there will be a problem in getting it back" Robin giggles placing a hand over her mouth to try and muffle it, Chopper wipes his tears away and takes a step back looking up at the woman with confusion, he's happy that it's been found but why is there a problem, did it fall into the sea? is it stuck or broken? Before he can panic Zoro walks over and places a firm hand on the doctor's shoulder "What ever the problem is I'll deal with it" The swordsman grins placing his hands on the hilt of his swords hoping to cut something open "Franky's going to kill you if you damage his ship again" Sanji scowls crossing his arms over his chest, before the two can start bickering Robin lets out a laugh while shaking her head "I doubt you would hurt them Zoro.. Come on, I'll show you" Her comment makes the three freeze realizing that someone has the item and its not stuck on the ship but Sanji asked everyone on the ship if they've seen it, well expect for you and Kuina, your on bed rest and Kuina is most likely with you so no one wanted to disturb you.

The three quickly follow Robin out of the medical room, across the deck and to your room, slowly opening the door as to not disturb the scene Robin places a finger over her lips telling them to keep quiet before gesturing for them to head in. Chopper's tears of frustration are long forgotten as he slaps a hand over his mouth trying not to let out a sound of joy while looking over at the two sleeping forms on the bed, the duvet cover is wrapped around your waist as you lay on your back, a hand on your exposed large belly while your other arm is wrapped around a sleeping Kuina who's nestled into your side. The young girl has the ear tips of the stethoscope in her ears and her hand gripping the drum end tightly as it lays against your stomach, its clear the young girl has shoved your sleep shirt up in order to listen to the baby's heart beat and has fallen asleep while listening but weather your aware of it or not is unclear. Sanji's heart melts at the sight hearts form in his eyes and his body starts to sway a little out of pure joy at the cuteness in front of him, but he's also trying to control himself as to not wake either of his girls, the cook has often fallen asleep with hos head next to your stomach and his arm wrapped around your waist letting it fit snugly under your belly able to feel any and all movement the baby makes, so he understands the need to be close, but he didn't think Kuina would do this, sure the young girl is excited and loves to talk to your belly but falling asleep to her siblings heartbeat is something else.

Zoro first reaction is shock but that soon disappears as a giddy smirk forms on his face, gritting his teeth the swordsman try's not to laugh at the sight, it brings him so much joy to see his daughter so happy and invested in having a sibling but on the other hand he knows he'll have to have a word with her later, he's always made it clear that you never steal from the crew even if you give it back later, for now though he enjoys the sigh while reaching over and taking Sanji's hand. The cook quickly grabs hold of the swordsman's hand and leans into the man while fixated on his two girls, Chopper soon removes his hand from his mouth and turns to the two with a big smile on his face, now he knows where his stethoscope is he doesn't mind leaving it with Kuina, it always comes back very clean, so he knows she takes good care of it. "I'm happy to leave it with her for now" The doctor whispers up at the two who glance down giving him a quick nod before looking back at the bed, with a skip in his step Chopper heads to the door only to be stopped by Sanji's whisper "Hay Chop, can you get the camera?" Zoro lets out a light chuckle at this but doesn't complain about capturing the moment and maybe teasing his daughter over this in the future, with a quick nod and happy hum the doctor rushes off to find the camera while Sanji lays his head on the swordsman's shoulder "It's perfect" The cook whispers earning a light kiss on his forehead and squeeze of his hand "Yea, couldn't ask for anything more"

What is a crack ship?

A crack ship is a (in this case romantic/sexual) ship that has little to no basis in canon.

When will my ship qualify for this tournament?

They will automatically qualify (after having been submitted) when:

The characters involved have NO canon interaction*, and are not part of the same crew (no matter how popular the ship is).

The characters involved have 1 short canon interaction and less than 10 fics for them on AO3 (as a side pairing counts too)

They might qualify if:**

They have no canon interaction but are part of the same crew or organisation.

They have 1 short canon interaction but more than 10 fics on AO3

They have 1 long canon interactions or 2/3 short ones and less than 10 fics on AO3

They have multiple canon interactions but NO fics on AO3

It's an incredibly funny ship (but you gotta convince me it's crack!)

These ships will not qualify on principal:

ANY ship between Strawhats (honorary Strawhats don't count if they haven't met a certain Strawhat - examples: BrookNami does not qualify, SanjiVivi does not qualify, but BrookVivi would qualify)

Here me out on Zoro and Luffy rq.

Back on my bs and I had the most interesting daydream yesterday.

Tw: Unrequited love, Flight Angst, Suggestive themes(?), Poly (3) relationships. (OC maybe??) Based on the OPLA cast and the Anime.

So boom say that you are a somewhat new strawhat member somehow recruited by Nami (🍊) You may have helped her steal something or maybe helped her in a fight and she think you're a perfect fit for the crew (👒).

You just so happen to be the most hyper ready for action person for her to meet other than Luffy, so you agreed (Who wouldn't) When you got too the Going Merry it was so nice you were practically jumping off the side rails in excitement while Nami went too get the members and explain and (hopefully) get you in.

You were honestly just excited to get away from land and do adventures but oh did that change when you saw a certain moss headed man with a scowl on his face quickly approaching you, you swear everything went in slow motion not hearing a word he said to you as you gawked at him. Then a pair of..arms?? stretched around the green haired man and pulled him back with a tug. Okay now somes fishy here and it's not the sea.

Turns out it was a man named Zoro the first mate and a very interesting captain named Luffy with the cutest curly hair.

It's been a few months since you been around and been across a few..bad people from running from a man with a hatred only for humans, and running from marines you can say things have been eventful.

You also have the biggest crush on your captain and Co-Captain but where's the harm in that? It all started with luffy when he saved you from falling from a high place with his devil fruit then smiled at you while holding you too his chest asking if you were okay in that cute accent.

Zoro didn't really trust you yet, but you were always around him, always asking questions about his swords while he gave short answers, you always sat close too him and luffy basically scooting between them with a smile as if nothing happened. He knew you had a crush and so did luffy but they said nothing.

Until one day you proclaimed that you would marry them both with a swift nod from a successful heist Zoro honestly froze up as Luffy laughed nodding along with your antics as usual.

You see, Luffy made it no better since he gave you all the hugs you wanted and even let you sit in his lap when you asked. It was too the point where zoro called a "Team meeting" with just you three, he only said that as the team there would be no crushes as he had no interest in anyone putting an ephanse on anyone. While Luffy just nodded and said "Plus i'm too focused on being the pirate king"

You understood you really did but that didn't make it hurt any less, then Luffy met Boa Hancock, it was all down here from there you could see how they talked and looked at each other too the point where you started loathing them both because it wasn't fair you thought. Of course Zoro caught on and an argument assumed too where you guys said really hurtful things and even said you'd leave too which he responded with "Good, leave." You three didn't talk for a while after that. You became really silent just around them didn't even look or speak too them small touches and hugs completely disappeared. The whole crew honestly felt weird without that.

Then as you said you would leave you did, you didn't even tell anyone just up and left, Nami yelled at zoro as he started most of the argument and that day was a silent day, no one knew where you went and zoro nearly drank all day, but luffy was so sure he would find you and bring you back.

But would he really?

Notes: Sobbing real bad, dunno if there would be a part 2 considering this is just an idea I really like fics like this though.

Cross Guild events and Cross Guild Poly where Buggy finally gets the nerve to come out to her two lieutenants and also boyfriends. Mihawk just blinks like "yes? Your Haki is distinctly feminine, so this makes perfect sense. Oh, dear why are you crying, stop that-" meanwhile Crocodile has to bite back every single we traded genders joke and instead just shrugs, going "I quite literally could not be paid to give a fuck. You know I'm bisexual, this changes little, Clown."

Croc does off hand offer to hook Buggy up with Iva if that's smth she's interested in, tho.

Meanwhile Sanji has come out to the Strawhats as a transwoman as well, and the reactions are much more dramatic but no less supportive - if anything, some may be too supportive /hj ((Franky calls her queen and sis and Hawt Mama, Chopper already began working on ways to synthesize estrogen Just In Case, Luffy could not be made to give a single fuck, Ussop is swooning, Zoro informs her that this changes nothing and he'll still kick her ass, Robin offers her congratulations, Nami is already mathing out adding another bed in the girls' room or making a room JUST for Sanji and Ussop to share, Brooke waits 0.006783259 seconds before asking to see undies, just everyone being supportive and stupid))

This leads to Ivankov getting two separate contacts for their services, and so they arrange to meet at a small-ish island to help both, two birds, one stone :)).

Both crews go full Spiderman meme when they come across each other, and Iva handles it with all the gentility of a bull in a china shop, whisking both ladies away while the rest are left just plain gaping and awkwardly avoiding eye contact or completely oblivious to the tension (cough cough LUFFY).

But when they come back, Mihawk, Crocodile and Ussop are all just absolutely SWOONING for different reasons, full of Respect Woman Juice and I Love My Wife energy, it's adorable and cute and funny.

Okay, so, my thoughts on this. Crocodile having to hold back the 'we traded genders' joke is so damn real and I laughed SO hard. Love him. So true. And transfem Buggy lives in my mind rent free so this is just perfect because I absolutely love her. She's my beloved. She'd be so anxious about it and cry and Mihawk and Crocodile are like-- So done with her because she's acting stupid and dramatic and of course they're going to still want her. And,, Transfem Sanji coming out is always so beautiful in my head. She's been battling her gender issues for AGES and now she feels comfortable enough to come out to the crew. The way she would explain everything that happened to her back in Momoiro Island and then say that she's actually a girl. And everyone's quiet because they know she's looking at Luffy only right now, expecting an answer from her captain. And Luffy is just like "??? Okay? You're still my cook. So who cares? You seem happier now!" and that is when Sanji starts crying. Because of course she's crying. And of course, Usopp is the one to hug her first because that's his girlfriend and she needs a hug and forehead kisses right now. But they have 0 privacy because Luffy wants hugs too. I mean. Obviously.

Franky is loud af and he's SOBBING while he screams how proud he is of their cook (I've always said Franky feels like a girldad because just look at how he interacts with Nami. And he's sooooooooo loving Sanji right now). Robin would be so so proud too and would say she's happy for her and smile in the sweetest of ways (Robin please adopt me). I think Chopper would also ask a lot of questions before making estrogen, just in case, but then he'd go and try to make it right away. Nami hugs Sanji but the sweet moment doesn't last long because she's already telling Franky her ideas for a bigger, better room for the girls or!!! "Better!!!!!! A room for Sanji and Usopp so we don't have to deal with them!!!!!! But also make the girl's room bigger because I say so!!!!!!". Zoro says he doesn't give a fuck because he will still kick her ass but he's secretly happy that she looks more relaxed and comfortable in her skin. And Jinbe is just the cutest because I think he'd laugh at the chaotically sweet situation and say that strength comes from being happy with yourself and Sanji is the strongest for being so brave and true to herself (he be saying poetic and cute shit like that and he expects me not to absolutely love him. Dad behavior. I am SO sure he would beat the shit out of anybody who misgendered Sanji. But that's what any Strawhat would do, so,,,).

They go see Iva (Iva my beloved) and they're all,, So uncomfortable,, Buggy acts overconfident and says she's perfectly fine and not scared at all of what Iva's going to do to her body (liar. She's scared af and Crocodile and Mihawk know so they keep scaring her even more because it's funny to see their girlfriend crying. Look. The fact that they're soft and dating doesn't mean they're not gonna bully her). And Sanji has smoked like two fucking boxes of cigarettes already despite saying that she doesn't care about it (she has never been more excited in her entire life) and she's holding Usopp's hand so hard she's going to break it at some point. Anyway, Iva is a dramatic bitch and they make Sanji and Buggy come with them to a more private place because they want it to be a surprise for everyone (drama queen. Love them. I would do it too. Trust the process, girls, you're in good hands). So Cross Guild and the Strawhats end up alone and waiting for their girls to come back. And. Yeah. Uncomfortable. Zoro looks at Mihawk at some point and goes:

Zoro: I thought you were gay. Mihawk: I swing both ways. Usopp: Actually, you swing sword- Mihawk: Awful. Shut up. Don't ever speak to me again. Don't even look at my direction, actually. Roronoa, why is your crew like this? Zoro: It was really funny, though. Mihawk: I wish to not partake in this conversation anymore. Everyone just shut up and wait. ............. Luffy: Hey, guys, do you think Sanji's going to have bigger boobs than Zor- Nami: OH MY GOD LUFFY YOU CAN'T SAY THAT Luffy: BUT I'M CURIOUS Zoro: Yeah, she's going to ask for the biggest of boobs only to piss me off because she's annoying like that. Mihawk: Why would you even care about your breast size, Roronoa? Crocodile: Tsk. You care about mine. Usopp: OH MY GOD SJKFNSKDEWKFJNJKSFN

Okay, so Sanji and Buggy eventually come back. Finally. And they were gorgeous before but now they're even more beautiful because they actually look extremely happy with their bodies. I want to describe how I see them but just check @/vongulli's account and see their fem Buggy because she kills me every time and that's the only way I can see fem Buggy now. And Sanji to me looks like @/sibmakesart's fem Sanji. This artist made a nude fem Sanji not long ago and I loved it,, So much,, ANYWAY!!!!!! Getting carried away.. Thinking about women. It's not my fault I'm a lesbian. But they look perfect and they're comfortable and happy. And Sanji's boobs are surprisingly not huge and Zoro makes a comment about that but Sanji is like:

Sanji: WHAT????? YOU ONLY SEE ME AS A BOOB-OBSESSED GIRL OR WHAT? Literally everyone at the same time: Yes. Sanji: Well, for your information- Usopp: She likes thighs more Sanji: Usopp, don't tell them- Iva: And also, my dears, that is not how my power works Zoro: So you did ask for big boobs and you couldn't have them Sanji: I'm going to kill you and wearing heels it's going to hurt even more Usopp: Is it weird that I'm kind of turned on right now? Crocodile and Mihawk are having... A moment. They will still bully her and they're sure she's going to look extremely pretty crying and whining but right now she deserves to be worshipped because just look at her. Buggy approaches them and she's like "If you laugh I'm going to throw knives at you and then leave Cross Guild and!! And!! And I'm going to be really mad so pleasedon'tlaughireallylikethispleasedon'truinit" and they look at her with the fondest of looks (but gotta be honest, they're so horny right now it's unbearable. Like yes, happy wife happy home happy everything but also happy dick because just look at her). Crocodile is just frowning and genuinely asks "Why would we laugh? You look stunning, dear" and Mihawk follows with "I must say I'm not surprised, since you've always looked beautiful. But you look... More satisfied with yourself." And Buggy has to hold back the tears and that's why she starts saying things like "Pffft. Yeah! I knew I'd be gorgeous like this too! Now I look even flashier!" and y'know, the two men are letting her have her moment because now she looks even better and they can't stop staring at her. So maybe she's right this time when she fakes confidence.

Usopp and Nami need a second to process everything, I think. Also, they both hit Brook at the same time when he's about to ask Sanji the question™. Nami is having a lesbian moment, but of course Sanji realizes and does her Sanji thing like opening her mouth and speaking:

Sanji: Nami-swaaan!!! Do you like how I look now??? Nami, ignoring her and whispering to herself: Disgusting. I hate this. Zoro: At the end of the day it's just curly, huh? Nami: I was thinking with my dick. Zoro: Yeah. Happens. Been there.

So, Usopp and Sanji finally get their moment together because at least the Strawhats are respectful enough to give them their sweet uhhhh two minutes before they start complimenting Sanji. So that's something! Sanji is confident with her body but is a bit shy and isn't sure what Usopp will think about this. Not that she has changed much, even, but, you know. Just different. In a good way for her! But different. And Usopp approaches her slowly and smiling and he's just so so so happy. And he's like "You look gorgeous!" / "... Really? I wasn't sure whether you'd like it-" / "I will always like you! But more importantly, do you like you?" / "I mean- Weird phrasing, but yes. Yes? I think so. Yes." / "Then that's all that matters." And Sanji really, really doesn't want to cry because she has never cried in front of the whole crew. She just can't help it. But Usopp knows she doesn't like it when others see her cry so he quickly wipes her tears away and when she starts laughing (so so happy and full of love) Usopp just needs to kiss her.

Meanwhile, Luffy is there calling Buggy auntie and asking when she's going to tell Shanks about this. She keeps saying she will never tell him and if he wants to find out, he'll do it through her new wanted poster or whatever, but not from her.

Strawhat polycule (+Vivi and Law) HCs

I was asked for some on twitter and I popped off there, so here they are! I have a ton more but this is what I'm posting now. Feel free to add more in the replies/reblogs!

-at first it was completely unspoken! No one called it a relationship or really talked about it, they just existed together

-(also Chopper is like. Collectively everyone's kid/little brother like figure so he is not a part of the poly, but he's definitely a part of the cuddle piles!)

-Zoro Luffy and Nami got together first. They were in that dinghy together for so long and they knew so much random bullshit about one another by the end of it. It's part of what absolutely crushed Nami when she left to go back to cocoyashi, because even though it'd never been said out loud, she'd come to care so much for those two, and she was starting to care so much for Usopp too.

-Usopp was pulled into a cuddle session on the deck of the Merry within two days of joining, and he'd never felt so safe and cared for. He's hesitant to join in without being directly invited each time until post water 7, but Luffy has no problem just dragging him in every time.

-Sanji was the second hardest to get to join the cuddle piles. It took at least a month, and Nami dragging him in herself. She stuck him right between her and Zoro, and well. While Sanji won't say it to his face, Zoro is very very comfy to lay on, and waking up being held by him and Nami made him feel so cared for.

-Robin takes the place of most difficult strawhat to snuggle- until post Enies Lobby. After all they went through, after realizing that's it's okay to want to to live again and to want things for herself? She will just go and sit against whoever is still at the moment to read.

-Jmbei and Franky are always down for the cuddles piles too. Franky will wrap blankets around his metal parts to make them more comfortable, and Jimbei is big a huggable always!

-Brook loves the cuddle pile tradition and any and all physical affection. He was alone for so long that he was dealing with touch starvation... he cried during that first crew cuddle pile... or he would have if he had eyes! Yohohohoho skull joke!

-Vivi! Vivi sits with Nami while she draws her maps! Nami helps do her hair in the morning!

-Vivi likes to sit in the kitchen with Sanji and tell him about dishes from Alabasta! He makes them as similar as possible without the needed ingredients, and when they get to Alabasta, those are some of the first things he buys.

-Zoro teaches Vivi knife tricks to use with her peacock slashers, and how to properly use weights to train with. She chews him out for pushing himself too much when he does things he told her never to do. She's one of the few people who can actually get him to rest.

-Usopp and Vivi share stories! Vivi tells him all about Alabastan myths so he can use them in the tall-tales and he tells her the stories of East blue, both exaggerated and non-exaggerated!

-Luffy teaches her how to throw a proper punch after watching her hurt her hand practicing. What she was doing was working, but it wasn't super sustainable.

-One Time she and Luffy have a conversation about ruling. She will be the queen of Alabasta, and he the pirate king, so it felt fitting to talk about it. Goa gets brought up, and Luffy tells her she'll be a much better queen than Goa's ruling family because her people will be free under her. Because she cares about them.

-leaving Vivi behind in Alabasta hurt them all so much. They sneak letters and denden calls back to her as often as possible.

-Zoro and Sanji still bicker like an old married couple and have their rivalry but they tend to sleep closer together than most. Zoro's a walking heater and Sanji gets cold in his sleep so.

-Sanji pays very close attention to everyone's favorite foods so he can make them as often as possible, but he also pays attention to their comfort foods so he can make them when they're feeling down.

-Zoro pretends he doesn't like sweets. He does, but if he eats them he HAS to brush his teeth after because the thought of his teeth weakening too much to hold a blade concerns him greatly.

-When Sanji notices, he starts making some dishes that taste sweet but have less sugar in them for Zoro.

-Makino used to buy Mikans all the way from cocoyashi, and when Luffy realized that Nami's Mikan Juice recipe is the one that Makino got from the person she bought mikans from, he got so excited. He gets so excited when Nami makes it.

-Nami and Zoro go out drinking with one another in ports all the time. Zoro watches her back while she cheats at cards, and he helps keep creepy guys away. Nami flirts with all the women who try to flirt with Zoro. He's bisexual as all hell, but sometimes women can be creepy too. They will challenge people to try and out drink them, and people loose that bet all the time.

-Once Nami realized just how into Fashiom Sanji was? Endgame. She drags him shopping with her all the time, and once she made him understand that he could be honest with her when it came to clothing instead of just complimenting her, it's phenomenal. He knows so much about different brands, how to spot fakes, and he's just as good at bargaining as she is.

-Robin steals maps from libraries for Nami to compare hers to, and then make better versions of. She returns them after, of course, but not without a copy Nami's notes neatly placed with them. Robin's also really good at finding places for Nami to sell her maps.

-Everyone finds out Zoro can sew pretty early on. He's constantly fixing tears in his clothing, and he eventually starts offering it to the others too. And if he can't fix it nearly, he'll embroider something over it to make it look like it's part of the design. He claims he learned because needles are just "tiny swords."

-Luffy and Zoro take naps together all the time. They're not allowed to go all out with sparing unless their on an uninhabited island though. They don't want to hurt the Merry or the Sunny too much.

-Luffy has taught Nami a couple bo staff tricks he learned from Ace and Sabo as a kid.

-Luffy LOVES to listen to all of them talk about things their passionate about. He may not understand it all, but he doesn't mind listening to the same things more than once or different explanations either.

-if someone talks about a problem near Franky and Usopp, it's solved within a day. They'll build something to fix it or help at the drop of a hat.

-once Nami learned that Zoro was good at math, she asked him to help keep track of all the finances.

-Luffy nuzzles them a bit like a feral animal sometimes. He grew up in the jungle, and you can take the boy out of the jungle, but not the jungle out of the boy.

-Luffy will sit in Usopp's lap while he tells stories if it's just the two of them. They fish together a lot too!

-Brook can play anything he's ever heard, so he collects everyone's favorite songs like pokemon.

-they have a board full of little things they've said to one another that they don't want to forget in the library. It has everything from compliments to cursed things to the completely random and mind blowing things their captain says once in a blue moon.

-Luffy kisses people's foreheads and cheeks to tell them good night. It's one of the best parts of everyone's nights.

-Sanji likes to kiss people's hands, especially if they have to be bandaged for any reason. He only did this with Nami, Robin, Vivi, and Chopper at first, but it quickly spread to Luffy and Usopp. He even does it for Franky, who can't feel his hands and will just remake them instead of bandaging them up.

-the first time someone did this back to Sanji (it was nothing more than a papercut), and it was Zoro. It flusters him so bad that everyone started grabbing his hands to kiss them just because they feel like it.

-there are very few occasions where Zoro sleeps in a way where his back isn't covered. It's almost always when one of them is injured and he's guarding them.

-Luffy loves to talk about bugs to Robin and Usopp, but the second Nami or Sanji come into the room he immediately stops because he knows they're afraid of bugs. Nami eventually tells him that hearing about them doesn't really spook her, and that there are some bugs she likes. The pollinators for her mikan trees, for example. The bees and the butterflies. So Luffy talks about those with her instead. Sanji's infinitely grateful that his captain doesn't mention the creepy crawlies to him.

-Franky and Usopp like to make little trinkets for people, and when they work together, the trinkets come out beautifully.

-Franky and Brook got into a pun war once. It lasted for days. They decided they were equals in tomfoolery because if they didn't they may have driven Nami mad.

-Robin and Sanji are the most verbal about complimenting the others. They work together to pull the others out of bad headspace's when necessary.

-Zoro convinces Usopp and Nami to do some exercises with him. They thought he'd push them the way he did himself at first, but he could never.

-Zoro is one of the biggest softies of the whole group. He just pretends he isn't. They all know this.

-After they all trauma dump at some point, Usopp makes sketches of the people they've lost, so that if they don't have any photographs, they can have this. They have all sobbed to Usopp after receiving one of these sketches.

-Usopp's room is full of drawings of the strawhats doing different things. Some of his favorites are of Nami picking mikans, Sanji teaching Chopper the steps to a dance in the kitchen, Brook playing violin in the moonlight, and Luffy asleep on the Sunny's figurehead.

-Franky had never considered letting anyone help fix and tamper with his insides until the Strawhats. But he feels so safe with them that he has no problem explaining how he works and what to do to upgrade the slots he has trouble reaching.

-Brook and Zoro spar against each other often. they start interweaving parts of one other's styles into their own as they learn them.

-They started acknowledging it all more post TS.

-one of the first things Luffy did was tell them all he loved them. One of the few things he regrets is not telling Ace that enough, and he's not gonna make that mistake again. It starts a chain reaction, and they all start say it out loud, some more than others.

-all the Strawhats knew Luffy had nightmares even before the skip. He never said anything about it, but he'd sneak to sleep with one of them even on non-cuddle pile nights. It's more noticeable post time skip. They don't ask.

-Sanji comes back with long hair and wearing heels, and no one questions it. Good for him. His kicks hurt more and they missed his food dearly. Nami and Robin now get to help him with his hair too!

-Brook adds most his earnings as Soul King to the treasury for the crew. He also came back with gifts from all over for all of them.

-Zoro learned even more stuff about sewing from Perona, and when he finally gets to fix something for Nami and Robin with an intricate design he learned, he looks so excited to be doing it. One of them snuck a photo and it's the first photo on the photo board they added beside the quote board.

-everyone loves to sit in the Galley and talk with Sanji while he cooks. Sometimes he'll sing if they're all quiet.

-Robin likes to play with people's hair when she's reading, and she likes to read aloud just as much.

-Sanji and Usopp cut and style everyone's hair.

-Jimbei is overwhelmed by how welcoming the Strawhats are before he's even officially joined them. He knows what to expect by the time he makes it to Wano though, and he's so excited.

-Luffy saw right through Law in Punk Hazard. He saw the same look in his eyes as he's seen in Robin and Ace and a lit of his crew. He felt in his gut that if he didn't help Law he wouldn't live past whatever he was planning.

-he knew that telling his crew that Law saved his life would mean them learning that he almost died, but it doesn't stop him from doing it.

-even with that information they're hesitant to trust Law at first, but they fold pretty quickly as they start to see the same thing Luffy did in his eyes.

-Chopper asks Law what happened after Marineford because he's Luffy doctor and feels like he should know... and Law tells him. Everyone else listens from around the corner, heartbroken to hear that after the canera's cut, Luffy's brother died taking a hit for him. That Luffy was so exhausted and full of poison that Law knew he had to have been tortured in some way. That the surgery to save him took everything he had. That Jimbei was the one to bring him back to his senses while he was upset.

-Law tells him about what he needs to know so bluntly... but he leaves out how Luffy's scream for his brother never left his mind, reminding him of the way he lost Corazon. He doesn't tell Chopper that Luffy tore some of his wounds back open as soon as he was awake, desperate to try and find his brother.

-they all keep very close eyes on Law to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid after that. If nothing else, they won't let the man who saved their captain's life die.

-Sanji sneaks more food onto Law's plate whenever he's not looking because there's no way he's eating enough.

-Zoro starts spars with him to keep him out of his head.

-Robin shares knowledge back and forth with him, debating on simple things to pass the time. She accidentally picks up on all the signs that he too, survived a genocide. A tiny mistake in covering his accent while he was mostly asleep is what gave her the final clue to which one.

-even though he tries to hide it, Law is fascinated by how Franky kept himself alive.

-Nami asks about how they navigate under the ocean, but Law doesn't have all the answers for her. He tells her she should ask Bepo when they all meet up, and Nami is the first to get him talking about his crew. He doesn't even notice everyone else listening at first, but his clear love for them is what chases away that last little bit of suspicion.

-when they realize Law is just a dork underneath the fake moody attitude, they ask as many questions as they can to get that side of him to come out.

-Law has to bite the inside of his cheeks to not laugh at Brook's puns when they catch him off guard

-Nami trades him rare coins for regular ones when she sees him looking, but if he already has it in his collection, he'll tell her how much it's worth to sell.

-Usopp and Franky build him little models of the Germa 66 comic characters. They sit on display in the Tang.

-Law finds some old music from Flevance, and he trusts Brook to copy it down when he can't.

-Luffy manages to pull the childishness that he thought died more than a decade ago right back out of him. He finds himself in so much ridiculous bs, but it feels so nice to just let go.

-Robin explains how weapons from different cultures work so Usopp can rebuild them with Franky!

-Robin absolutely lies about it sprinkling rain lightly to cover up the fact that Law sheds a few tears when Doflamingo goes down.

Hi everyone, this is @kilucore one of my new best friends. They've only really seen OPLA but already loves Buggy. Now I just have to brainwash them into believing his full name is Buggy D Clown and he's the true King Of The Pirates.

"But we're already here! And who knows, since there are so little pirates here in the East Blue, there could be all sorts of treasure that no one has found yet! "

A while ago, before the crew broke up, before they all just abandoned them, Rayleigh had gotten Buggy a new pair of shoes. They were big and red and Biggy hates them, but Rayleigh said he should wear them anyway. "They're harder to slip in. Safer."

Right now, Buggy doesn't want to be safe. He wants to be pissed off.

Still even as he storms across the wooden pier, the shows made almost no sound at all. It didn't matter how much weight he throw into each step or how hard he brought his foot down. His storming away sounded more like a gentle breeze.

The worst part is he could feel Shanks watching the whole time.

"Hey." At least the shoes don't stop Buggy from being able to swat Shanks's hand away when the other boy tries setting it on his shoulder. "Come on, don't be like that. Why do you want to stay in the East anyway? "

"Because-" Buggy stops, even as he turns to glare at Shanks. The boy has such a bright infectious smile, he makes you feel like everything would be alright.

Only it wouldn't, would it? Not even Shanks's smile could bring back Roger, bring back their FAMILY. Even old Crocus is gone and the last place any of them knew that any of the others would be is in the East. Is in Lougetown.

Is standing below the tower where they-

"Because the East is easy pickings!" Buggy argues, motioning around to all the sailors, the shoppers, the passing Marines not paying them an ounce of attention. "We can do whatever we want and no one can stop us!" And if the others do come looking, they'll be here. Waiting.

Shanks puts on his "serious" face for a moment, though truth be told it's not very serious. "Hmmm... Well, I'm the captain and I say we're going North!" He declares with a huge, cocky grin. The kind that looks like their da-

Like a pirate.

"You just said So-" Buggy starts to correct before Shanks's words really start to creepy in. His eyes go wide. He did not just say that! No way! "What make you think YOU'RE the captain!?"

Shanks can't be captain! There is only one captain! You can't have two captains and they all know-

They all....

He can't be captain!

"I have the hat!" Shanks declairs in his same light hearted tone, patting the Strawhat Roger had given him WAY before Shanks had been old enough to be captain. He's only 14 now! He barely even has facial hair (Buggy knows, him and Shanks have been comparing for years now waiting to see whose would grow in first) ! "That makes me that captain!"

"That's not true!" Buggy argues, swinging to grab for the stupid Strawhat. Shanks just laughs, taking a wide step back. That is unfair! Buggy hasn't had time to his his growth spurt yet. "Give it here! I deserve to be captain!"

Shanks sticks out his tongue. "Hey, maybe if you're really nice I'll make you my first mate!"

Buggy's face went as red as his nose. He isn't first mate!

Roger is the captain! Rayleigh is first mate! Shanks and him are just- are just-

"Give it here!" Buggy demands, jumping for the raggy hat again.

"That's a very rude way for a first mate to act."

"I said give it here!"

"Maybe I should demote you to cabin boy."

"Grr, I wouldn't be your boy if yours was the last ship in the se-"

SPLASH!!

Buggy tries to draw in a deep breath but the water is already sucking him down. Ocean fills his lungs, weighing him down even more. Trying to push the water aside is like trying to swim through concrete. He can still see the sun twinkling above, reflecting the blue of the water all around him but it's fading. Everything is getting darker.

Is this how Roger felt? No! No not Roger! He must have been brave! He wouldn't be scared or drowning or poleaxes or death. Roger isn't afraid of anything.

Bubbles float out from his mouth, the last of his air leaving his lungs. They pop silently before even hitting the surface, but Buggy heard them in the ocean all around him.

Shanks don't be a captain. Don't be like Roger.

Don't leave me.

The next thing he knows, Buggy can feel the splinters digging into his back, through the worn out shirt he'd owned too many years. The one that didn't fit Nantoto anymore and had been passed along, first to Shanks than to Buggy.

Two worried brown eyes stare down at him, with Shanks's hair a dark, wet red, sticking to his pink cheeks.

Buggy coughs water upon him. "Ehh!" Shanks laughs it all off, brushing it away. "Hey no spitting! And here I thought Raylogh gave you those shoes so you WOULDN'T end up in the sea!"

He can joke, about Buggy is still mad. "I hate these shoes!" He screams, ripping them off and chucking them in the sea. Without him in them they float. Just like everything, he is what is bringing them down. It's him. It's him that got sick, him that stopped Shanks seeing Laughtail. "I hate this fruit! I hate this stupid, stupid sea and it's stupid Marines!" Him that ate the fruit that could have maybe been the fruit Crocus always talked about, the one that could save Rogers' life. Its his fault they're all gone! No wonder no one of the crew came to see them!

He pushes himself up swiping at Shanks's leg as he does so.. the boy trips slightly but keeps from falling into the water.

"Hey, wait!" Shanks scurries to his feet as Buggy starts to march off. "Where are you going? The ship is that way? Wow, you must be really water logged after-"

"YOUR ship is that way!" Buggy snaps, not even turning around to look back at the other teenager. "I don't need you, you know! I can be my own captain!"

"Buggy...."

And maybe it is there is something in Shanks's voice that just reminds Biggy so much of Roger, of his old captain, he has to stop. And maybe it's just because it's Shanks. But in an instance Buggy found e couldn't move forward, not with out one last look back.

Shanks is taller than him. His hair is the same color as Buggy's nose, though he'd give you a black eye if you said so. His face is as bright as the sun and his heart as unpredictable as the sea. It makes Buggy's stomach hurt just looking at him.

And in that moment, Shanks wouldn't look at him either. His face was hidden, the shadow from the brim of his hat covering whatever he might be feeling. Buggy wishes he could hide away like that. His emotions feel as obvious as the nose on his face. His heart feels like it wants to escape his chest and run back to the sea.

Maybe to drown. Maybe to see if Shanks would jump in after it a second time.

"Do you know what this means?" Shanks asks, slowly lifting his chin, meeting Buggy's eyes. He feels so young compared to the other boy in the moment. He can see something in Shanks. A spark. A future. Something Buggy wants to steal but not to take it from Shanks.

Just so he can hold it, just so wherever that spark goes, Buggy will too.

"We'll be rivals!" Buggy shoots back, trying to muster his anger. "We'll both be captains and-"

Shanks shakes his head and Buggy finds himself choking on his own words. Its the boy's smile. "No," he says, taking a step closer before that smile blooms into something larger, something beautiful.

And before Buggy can react Shanks has thrown himself across the dock and right into Buggy's arms. Its so forceful Buggy nearly trips backwards right into the water but even without his special shoes, Shanks holds tight, and he stays on the dock.

"It means we're allies!" Shanks declairs, pulling back only to pat Buggy's shoulders. He is absolutely glowing. Like this is what he wants. Maybe this is what he'd been waiting for. "From now on, we're our own captains, but we're also allies! And whenever you need me I'll be there and when I need you, you'll be there! I'll cheer on all your greatest victories and you're revenge all my worst losses! Just like the best allies!"

And the way that spark shown in Shanks, Buggy couldn't help but smile back. "Yeah!" He agrees, taking Shanks'e hand in his own, sealing the pack. "We're going to be the greatest allies the seas have ever seen!"

"Like two captains but one crew!" Shanks promises. "I'll always be there fore you! No matter what!"

The applause dims as Buggy sweeps back into the backroom of his ship. The smile he'd worn for the crowd immediately slips away. "Well," he demands, snapping at Cabaji before.... Well, ignoring Richie altogether. You could never tell with Richie.

"it was great boss!" Someone cheers and the rest are quick to join in, heaping on the praise. Buggy just keeps sauntering on the back of the ship. To their poster board, listing all their upcoming preformance. "The best anyone in this sad little town has ever seen that's for-"

"Yeah for US!" Buggy snaps, the sarcasm dripping from his lips even more than his make up. "BUT WAS HE HERE?!"

His hand slams down on the poster.

Shanks is older now. He has three scars, ones Buggy int see him get. He's taller but it's the same smile. Buggy would know that spark anywhere.

A silence falls over the preformers. No one wants to say it. They all remember what happened to Kiki.

"What is the POINT!?" Buggy screams, turning his ire on the freaks, these losers, this pathetic lot who couldn't get the attention of one stupid, childish man in a silly hat. "Of putting on the greatest show if it's not seen by the greatest PEOPLE!?"

"Well...." Lionel suggests gently after a ong pause where Buggy looks at each of them , eyebrow raised. Huh? Well... Come on. Is there a single. Solidarity idea in those stupid heads of yours!? "You know, maybe he just hasn't been to the East bl---" The knife to his throat cuts off whatever he had been trying to say.

"Are you saying I can't get his ATTENTION!? That somehow, because I STAYED WHERE WE WERE SUPPOSE TO, WHERE ROGER LEFT US THAT I-"

Buggy pauses, looking out the porthole of the ship. Waling back into town where happy families, kids with Cotten candies, stuffed dolls held under couple arms. Such a perfect, happy little picture. Like a spark of sunshine.

"Don't just stand there," Buggy snaps without turning around. " Help your fellow freak. This is why I can't have SAG members on this crew, I swear, " Buggy jokes as a few of the underlings rush forward putting pressure to Lionel's wounds.

All while Buggy watches a happy little family heading back. The dad with his daughter in the shoulder. The other holding her stuffed toy, ruffling the girls hair. Such a happy little couple. Such a happy family.

"I think...." buggy says, tearing the wanted poster from their billboard, letting it crumble in his fist. "You're right. If we want attention we need to go... Bigger."

His laugh fills the boat, and then the ship, and even as the canons start to ring out and the buildings collapse you can still here him. Laughing.
