A lil blip of Eddissy x Reader

Chrissy's standing in the hallway and she's absolutely losing her mind. She surrounded by her shallow surface friends by her locker.

They're all talking at her at over each other, but she has zoned out. Her eyes are hooked on the two silly losers across the hall.

You and Eddie are simply talking, you've only been dating for a week, and no one outside your friends circles really know.

He's standing close to you, his shoulder curling forward towards you as he chuckles, listening to your excitement over seeing him play for the first time last night.

He's got his arms across, hugging himself as if he could squeeze the blush rising to his cheeks back down to the butterflies in his stomach.

Your bright energetic smile isn't only dazzling Eddie but, Chrissy as well.

Pressing her lips together, Chrissy grips the sides of her cheer skirt. She'd wondered what it would have been like to get you to talk so openly. You typically kept to yourself outside your friend circle.

She'd never gotten more than a casual greeting out of you. Or a simple reply when she asked to borrow your eraser.

Her eyes slip to Eddie her head tilting slightly, or to have the imposing 'Freak' of Hawkins feel so comfortable near her as well.

She starts to daydream, imagining herself over there with the two of you. Between the two of you. She's curl her fingers around your hand, holding it would feel warm and soft.

She imagines standing close to you, cuddled again your arm, while Eddie throws his arm over both your shoulders. Just the three of you chatting.

She would soak in your smiles, and you two active worked together in your silly little fun to draw out her laughter.

She would feel safe there, between the two of you your arms would protect her, from everything.

Her mother couldn't reach her heart if you two were guarding it.

Chrissy heavies a wistful sigh.

"Chrissy? Are you coming?" her friends call to her.

She hadn't noticed they'd started up the hall.

"O-oh, yes." she calls, hesitant feet sluggishly following after.

You and Eddie both look her way, Her heart skips a beat at the knowing gaze you both send her.

Chrissy, drops her pen, and with a gentle shove you push Eddie forward. Trailing behind him.

"Cunningham!" You call out for him.

Chrissy's heart thunders as she stops. She takes a deep breath and carefully turns to face you.

Eddie holds out the pen, "You dropped this," he offers.

"It's such a pretty color, with all those flowers. If you lose it, someone might keep it." You say.

Chrissy crushes her books to her chest. You just spoke a series of words to her. Her.

Her eyes slip up to Eddie, "and wow he's so tall..." she found herself thinking.

She tries to ignore her hammer heart, and offers a smile.

"Thanks," she says softly, taking the pen lightly, it was all she could do to stop her fingers from trembling. Her eyes slip over to you.

"This is my favorite pen now, after all." she says.

You flash her a small smile. "So we're your knights for today, then." you say.

The warning bell rings.

"Oh, we'd better go..." Eddie murmured.

"Chrissy, come on!" her friends shout.

She sighed heavily, and looks over her shoulder.

"Have a good day," You call to her as you and Eddie head off.

Chrissy manages to wave before your backs are turned.

"Um, y-yeah, you guys to!" she calls.

She watches the two of you head away, one hand clutching her books, the other rubbing her pen with her thumb.

"I'm never, ever, ever, losing this pen. Ever again....in life." she thinks, turning to catch up with her friends.

She giggles to herself mentally, "unless either of them are nearby...it may then need immediate rescue."

A/n: I couldn't resist her crushing on you both. Could not, she would be so cute about it 💕 and now I need to write about her defending her two "losers"

Fast forward and they all realize that because of the small town social optics they can’t hide their throuple situation forever but Steve isn’t ready to come out of the closet and Chrissy isn’t ready for the social backlash of going from the popular and the god-fearing church crowds to the freak.

Their solution is for Steve and Chrissy to get married and say Eddie is just their friend and weird roommate who they can’t kick out.

People in Hawkins think it’s weird still but they expect a couple like Steve and Chrissy so they kind of ignore Eddie in there and they all get to keep living exactly how they like

Wait, has anyone heard 18 by Anarbor? I'm gonna assume yes and, if not, oh well. But that song is so Eddie coded, specifically steddie. Like Steve starts dating Eddie either for his parents' attention or to piss them off, and Eddie kinda knows he's being used but doesn't really care because, like, how else is he gonna get his longtime crush, Steve Harrington, who is so far out of his league? So he goes along with it, but along the way Steve actually develops feelings for him. Like, that's just them.

Also on a lesser note, if we're talking bisexual Eddie, I could kinda see some cheerleader or otherwise popular girl hanging out with him to piss off their parents. Whether they do anything or not is up for debate but they don't admit it.

Just bisexual Eddie who all the popular kids like to fuck out of rebellion to their parents.

Also i was gonna suggest hellcheer but I really can't see Chrissy using him like that, but yeah.

Also is this maybe a modern/no upside down/ they're just normal teens Au? Maybe, maybe not.

I don't know why I suddenly see Eddie this way but I just feel like it would make sense. Like, he's the guy people warn their kids about but, also, i know Eddie is usually seen as kinky, and I'm not saying he wouldn't be, but when he's with cheerleaders (and maybe the occasional jock) he prefers to take his time and really make sure they feel good and enjoy themselves. He's lowkey the best fuck most of them have had but none of them can admit it, because that would mean admitting they fucked the freak.

And then Eddie and Steve start dating and its bi4bi experienced Eddie/ experienced Steve. Also if you like poly ships maybe Chrissy dates them as well. IDK, I'll admit I was thinking about this at like 1 in the morning when i was about to go to bed and just remembered

Honestly, to me they're like two pieces of a puzzle, and I can't see them fitting with anyone else. Maybe a throuple situation, but even that's stretching it lol.

Now, someone like Steve? I could see him fitting with any number of people! (and I've written him with a lot of different pairings lol) But Eddie and Chrissy are just meant to be in my mind.

I think that perhaps the "average het enjoyer" (as representing the group of people who want more het, referenced by that one anon) ought to avoid telling people that they want more het instead of non-het, and that would read as less loaded. I can only speak from my personal experience, but I think your response was right in that there is a distinct "stop making slash, start making het," subtext to a lot of those takes. And, I know that when people have asked me to write "het" (just "het," as opposed to their specific het ship), it has always been couched as a new alternative, as opposed to all the slash I was already writing, which never feels great. One may try not to pigeon-hole people, but eventually, a hole begins to form, and is rapidly filled with bigot pigeon.

Given that nobody is obligated to make anyone else any kind of fanwork, probably many of us in fandom could benefit overall from doing less commenting about what fandom content doesn't exist for us (yet!), and more active writing or drawing or recording whatever it is that we want to have. I'm definitely guilty of this one, too, like—why does the fic I want not just emerge from thin air, fully formed, with no effort on my part? But we've gotta start any of these changes we wanna see in fandom, and luckily fandom is generally a place where we can make and post pretty much whatever the hell we want. That could be a hundred thousand words of a rare pairing nobody else cares about, or it could be het, just het, any het, just more heterosexuals, if we should happen to, you know, perceive a critical shortage.

Ships I ship even though they conflict with each other and the fandoms hate each other

Drarry/Dramione/any other Draco ship with some exceptions

Loved them both even though I’m not a fan of the original source. Never read the books. I’ve only seen the first two movies and bits and pieces of the others, but I like the ships. But I don’t really like Harry x Hermione, but if it’s in a fic I won’t complain about it. And I can ship Draco with literally any other student and the fics that are out there are amazing.

Zutara/Zukka

Love both. Not at the same time though. Love different things about both. But I still love both either way. Don’t get the hate both ships have for each other, cause they’re both kinda similar.

Hellcheer/Steddie

Don’t care that the fandoms hate each other cause I can read fics about both ships and love both of them equally. Didn’t even watch every season of stranger things, stopped at season two, but gifs and small clips have made me love both ships. Haven’t read a poly fic, yet, but open to it.

Rachel x Joey/Rachel x Chandler

Fell for these at different times. During the show I loved Joey and Rachel, but for fics I love Rachel and Chandler. Like they give different vibes and depending on which I want I just choose which kid of fic I want to read.

Jiara/jafe/kafe

Not 100% sure if those last two are the ship names but all three are interesting. But I do not like all three in a single ship. Last two are crack ships that have some good fics that I low key became an actual shipper.

Fexi/Lexi x Nate

The second started off as a crack ship, but there were some REALLY good fics on it that I just love it now. Wouldn’t work for the show at all and would not like it if the show let it happen cause it wouldn’t make sense, but that’s what’s the first ship is for.

Merthur/Merwaine

Either ship just works for me. There’s small things about each that just click and I can see it being a good idea. Any fic on whichever ship would just make sense.

Bamon/DamonxRose/Benzo

Absolutely love bamon with my whole heart but I can read an occasional fic about Damon and Rose. Fuck Julia for what she did to Kat cause Bonnie carried.

I could read fanfics on either ship and I’m okay with the other half being in a different ship in the meantime. Like if I’m reading about A x C I’m okay with B being in a ship I don’t like. Cause right now it’s not about A x B it’s about A x C and B is free to do whatever. (If this makes sense, it’s 3 am)

I'm so curious about others and interest in threesomes! I personally think they're great and explore some cool stuff about the characters and sex. Where I struggle is if it's anything but a main Steddie pairing and the third is a nice addition for sex, but not emotionally. I can't do Hellcheer and Steve for this reason for example.

I think that’s why I liked the adage of Chrissy being Eddie’s fwb because I could easily see them both being bi and being kinky and poly in an offhand way. Cue Steve entering the mix lmao

Okay, I’ve noticed a little bit of a pattern I kind of want to talk about. (Bit of a long-winded observation under the cut.)

So I’m new to the Stranger Things fandom. I watched, like, a season and four episodes during the quarantine of 2020, decided it wasn’t really for me, and got pulled back in this year because of Eddie. (I, too, am a gay, nerdy, metalhead loser with a shitty life.)

Eddie was my entry point, and now I like the show as a whole. And I’m very much on the “Byler is going to be canon” train. Like, I’m not even nervous about it and kind of laugh when I see people overcompensating by looking way too deep into nitty gritty details like the triangle on Mike’s shirt. Why are we looking at set design when the story says everything we need to know, right? It’s pretty fucking obvious that’s where the story’s going.

Point is, I’ve spent about as much time looking at Byler stuff as I have looking at Steddie stuff. And I’ve noticed this weird fuckin’ phenomenon that I’ve never seen in any other fandom. And that’s a one-sided ship war.

Sure, I’ve seen a couple of Steddies make some general statements that indirectly hit Byler, like...shall we say the uninformed nonsensically saying that shipping Steddie is more moral than shipping any of the younger characters despite the fact that minors have kissed canonically in the show. Like, yeah, teenagers have crushes. Teenagers get into relationships. Steve and Nancy had a goddamn sex scene when they were still teenagers. If you’re someone who thinks that having an opinion on which teenage characters make the cutest couples makes a person a creep, you need to sit down.

But those Steddies are few and far between. Most of the Steddies I’ve seen love Byler.

And yet, it seems like every other Byler blog I check out is super defensive when it comes to Steddie. And I can’t figure out why. I’ve seen people say things like “Don’t pay any attention to that ask. The person who said it ships Steddie.” I’ve seen memes attacking Steddie shippers because Steddie isn’t canon-compliant enough. I’ve seen so many people outright attack Eddie’s popularity, or pitting him against other characters they like more.

Like... I understand the Mileven-Byler rivalry. I understand the Steddie-HellCheer rivalry. Those ships align with my understanding of ship wars. They’re mutually exclusive unless you like poly ships. That makes sense to me.

I don’t understand the pattern I’ve seen from Byler shippers being angry that Steddie shippers...exist, though. Like, you gotta know we love you guys and your ship, right? I’ve got, like, a sizeable chunk of Byler scenes in my ongoing Steddie fic. I’m just trying to figure out what the anger is about.

Is it that Steddie has the highest number of fics on AO3? Like, is it a numbers game? Is it because Steddie fans like Byler enough that they keep putting it in their Steddie fics and the Byler tag has too many Steddie fics with Byler as a side ship and you feel like they’re encroaching on your territory? Is it just because it’s not canon and it’s a superiority thing because Byler is going to be canon?

Of course, it’s not all Byler shippers, and once again, I’m not saying all Steddie shippers are entirely innocent. It’s just a pattern I’ve observed. Hell, maybe I’ve just been unlucky and I’ve just happened to run into a lot of argumentative Byler shippers. I’m just one person. Part of the scientific method is being able to repeat something and, well, if I get a bunch of replies on this going “What the hell are you talking about?” I’ll know it’s just a coincidence.

But I’m just trying to find out why we’re not friends. Feels like we should be friends.
