#polin throuple?

This is truly a unpopular opinion, but I do believe Pen and Colin would be more than happy to share.

I've touched on this before, but I want a whole post out there where I can dive deep into the why.

As I said before, it doesn't happen right after they get married neither it happens with a complete stranger. Both, in the beginning, are way too much into the other and they have 0 energy for anything else. Plus, they are not interest into exploring that with a casual partner.

But after a while, with their feelings secure and anchored in the relationship, something like that could develop if certain things happens. They met someone at a ball, this someone befriends them both. They are both a bit into it but they care most about their own relationship. They talk about it and find out they both kinda have a crush for this someone.

But Colin is demisexual! Yup, he is. Still, that doesn't prevent him to develop feelings for another person. Same for Pen. The love they have for this person doesn't dimish a bit the love they have for each other. If you ask them, it's everything but dimish tbh. As a poly person myself I'm absolutely biased, but there isn't really a match for the experience you get when you get to see the person you love most with another person you also love.

As I always said, when you love more than one person, you don't have a fraction for each one. You give you full heart to more people and some. And this is what they experience as well. Their relationship grows and gets better because of it.

But they are jealous! In the beginning, perhaps, there might be some jealousy as the new dynamic set in, as a result of insecurities that might rise. After those are settle though... Colin is just thrilled to see Pen in this new light. She is still his Goddess, that hasn't changed a bit. Only now there is another person who worships Pen as much as he does. It's exciting and thrilling. He loves seeing Pen experiencing pleasure either with only this person or with both of them.

And Pen? Pen gets to see Colin like he was when he first understand he had feeling for her and she finds it so sweet ad endearing. How he stutters and can't form a sentence in the beginning. How they both plan the most unhinged action possible to get this person to be with them.

It takes time and work on everyone's part, as those relationship tends to be more complex, but they both think that for this person it's worth it. They are both romantic, they love love. They spend long night planning their date with each other. It makes the strong, knowing they can deal also with each other falling in love with another person.

The sexy times would also be amazing. They are both playful and honest in bed, and with this person they get to explore a lot of things they couldn't do before. The first time Pen kiss a woman. The first time Colin kiss a man. The way Pen gets to have two beautiful men who would give her everything. The way Colin would never be tired of seeing Pen and another woman putting on a show for him.

I'm not trying to convince anyone btw. If you don't see it, it's okay. But to me, personally, it speaks about trust and love, which is the reason why I fall in love with them in the fist place.

went into Bridgerton season 3 ready to watch just for Polin and the Peneloise friendship, only to come away with not just them, but also not one but TWO sapphic ships, and a throuple to boot!

Part 2 is growing on me. My theory was they were not gonna reveal Penelope as Lady Whistledown to the whole ton because it didn't make sense to me to reveal her if they were gonna have a connected storyline/consistent narrator for future seasons. But whatever, they went with what they went with. There was definitely a way for Penelope to have the same growth, and for the audience to have the same emotional catharsis, without the whole ton and the Queen knowing she's Lady Whistledown. I know she has Genevieve to feed her gossip, but how is it going to work practically? Will her paper turn from a revolutionary gossip column that often took political shots at the Crown into a fashion mag? Anyway...

My main problem with part two was not enough Polin! Which could've been solved by more episodes, or a rearranging of when the side plots resolved. Especially Benedict's side plot. Love him, but he took up way too much time in the 2nd part. His pansexuality/throuple plot should've resolved in the first part. They cut SO MANY Polin scenes and for what? And Colin should've apologized to Penelope before episode 8. We deserved to see Lord and Lady Whistledown actually working together. I know Colin's character growth was learning to let Pen take care of herself, but like, he can still be protective and angry he just needed to re-direct it.

Just an observation.

Last Wednesday, we had our year-end braai (bbq) at the office. I don't follow reality shows, but some of my colleagues do. As we were sitting around making small talk, as one does as a work event. They told me that the reality stars get paid according to online buzz. I was shocked, and they came with receipts. Now, this is specific to South Africa as all the articles they could find were specific to South African versions of American shows, but something about that made me think. Netflix was in charge of the WT. They had all those fan events that have been unique to Bridgerton. Did they have a separate contract/bonus deal with Nic and Luke similar to the reality show actors? Remember what a fan of reality shows Nic are? Also, she met Andrew Garfield at that event that Amelia from the Chicken Shop Date also were at, and it was literally the next day that it was leaked that he and Florence didn't hear cut when filming a love scene. It didn't garner the same buzz that the carriage scene did, but it is suspicious none the less. Also, remember the insane buz Andrew and Amelia got for their Chicken Shop Date episode and also remember that Andrew is also Nics costar in The Magic Faraway Tree. I am not saying the WT was all fake. We, as a fandom, would have spotted it by now. I think they leaned into the unnatural chemistry, and it sparked real feelings again.

I always find it funny when people think they can control SM and manipulate 'viral' as the old people call it. Why is one cat video viral but not all? Because no one can truly control the SM machine. I have completed enough social media marketing courses to know that no one can control it. Authenticity always outsells. Think of "Who the fuck did I marry" viral 62 part TikTok series. Nic is also a fan, btw. So it comes down to money, Antonia had caused Luke to miss out on some of his bonus when the fans turned on him. Nic tried to save the situation with her posts. Because she thinks herself to be more Social Media wise. But when the WT ended, so did their contractual obligation. But social media and the fandon are not a switch you can turn on and off. Their real feelings have become collateral damage, in my opinion. I stand by that they hooked up between Brazil and Italy. My theory in that has not changed.

A comment on Luke and A: Do you remember that friend post of them at the table at a wedding? Luke ran his hand up her arm in that very loveable way in June/July, if I remember correctly? That sold their relationship for me. But in my theory above, it was also before he found out how much papgate cost him. A knows about the bonus contract, and that is why Luke is still liking her posts. To give the illusion that they are still together. They definitely broke up in August/September. This all being said, we should be kind to them and not judge them too harshly. They were still mostly struggling actors until before the WT. It wasn't a normal press tour. Their relationship is more real and authentic than what any marketing team can come up with. My hope is still that they will rekindle what they had during the fliming of S3 and the WT.

As I am typing the next part, I realise this is going to infuriate some. Nic used JD at the festival to try and stop the Lukola train. He is a willing participant and friend, trying to catch some rays. But this is where Nic missed the authenticity part. Only a very small part of the fandom fell for it. She wanted the heat off of her and Luke before S4 filming started. I bet the end of the WT was super uncomfortable.

Now the sad part is, I have read some Benophie fan comments who are saying Polin is going to overshadow S4. Well, for the record. What Jess and her team did with Benedicts' story in S3 is to blame for it. Unless Paul is joining their love story in a throuple, what was the point.

Ya the way it would randomly just cut to Benedict having a threesome was so irritating like I was so invested in the drama happening with Polin then it just cuts to that shit it was like crickets and and awkward pause for me and the fact that they literally cut down that Polin sex scene to 5 seconds in episode 8 of her on top of him I heard it was supposed to be longer and we’d get a sex montage of them but it was cut

I truly do not understand the relevance of half of benedict’s scenes this season😭the poor boy has been floating about for three seasons and put in the most random situations like he needs his season asap so he has a proper plot

because it was one thing to have him be in that throuple but we saw so. many. fucking. scenes. if it for reasons that are beyond me💀

bestie i am with you! i think there are lots of benophie stans that are books purists so they like [ ] 🥴 but i love ben and sophie and i want my girls kate and sophie together and have a cute and supportive friendship idc how or when but i need it ☹️ i need anthony and kate to support ben and sophie ughhhh. the only good thing about s3 is we’re gonna have a subplot for kate and anthony and hopefully a good one (although i wouldn’t put my money on it because sh*nda…) lol

They're going with the whole "benophie will be overshadowed by kathony" schtick which is just bullshit lmao. First of all, this is the show that couldn't be bothered with Kathony during their own season for fuck's sake. If Ben and Sophie's story is gonna be sidelined (which is a reasonable concern because that's what happened with Anthony and Kate) it's not going to be because of Kathony, it's going to be because of the 842 different b-plots. Why aren't they taking it up with the Featheringtons or Lady Whistledown but the couple that got robbed throughout their season?

On the other I recognise that I had a very similar approach with Saphne before RJP's departure was announced, because I was very protective of Anthony and Kate and wanted the focus to be on them. But I have changed my mind about that since tbh. After the mess that was season 2 I'd much rather have had a Saphne arc (similar to Eloise or Benedict's in length and promo) rather than all the Featheringtons and Lady Whistledown nonsense. Just imagine Simon having the time of his life as Anthony is hyperventilating over his attraction to Kate Sharma lmao. It would have been a treat for the audience to have beloved characters return to the show and I doubt it would've prevented Kathony from blowing up the way it did one bit, especially if the producers had done their job and treated them as protagonists, the way they did with Simon and Daphne in season 1.

Similarly I don't think Kathony will take away from Benophie, it will only make their story better if they involve them in their arc, give us a Kate/Sophie friendship etc. If you have a couple that can stand on its own it won't be overshadowed by secondary characters and for me if they do as good a job in casting Sophie as they did with Kate their success is a given. Just look at Kathony, the show's PR did everything in their power to sideline them (to the point of pretending this was a throuple season or something, not to mention spending more time promoting polin over their leads) and they predictably became the couple everyone is talking about.

When it comes to audience reception your leading character or couple can only be overshadowed if they don't come up to scratch; Spielberg's West Side Story is a good example where ensemble cast members outshone the leads. Benedict and Sophie fans have nothing to worry about.

And my guess is that s03 will be about polin anyway so by all means, let Lord and Lady Bridgerton get have the season's screen time and promo. It's only fair after the shitshow that was the s02 promo, plus the show will need all the ensemble help they can get and Kathony are their strongest suit right now.

Daily thread about BridgertonS3 and the people (thread + tumblr) have decided it's Benedict time. I want to take a few words to thank the *check notes* 120 people or so that followed me since the start of this journey, I welcome you in this space and I think this is a good thread to decide if you want to stick with me or not. Because judging from what I've seen around, mine is not a popular opinion, so if you are still here after this, thank you!

So, Benedict. Let's start by saying I'm not mad. But not even in the slightest. If I wasn't so invested in Polin, Benedict probably would have been my favorite storyline. I'm going to be honest, I have a proper bias around this. I'm not monogamous since I was like 16, and in whatever triangle you can think of, there is a good chance that my opinion is both.

I don't think Ben's scenes with Tilly and Paul were unnecessary. While we could argue that they could have been place in different part, the editing could have gone in another direction, more minutes could be added, those are all valid points. But, if you just take out the Benedict storyline on its own, there is nothing unnecessary about that. He learned a part of himself, how that can be unnecessary?

What I saw is a man who has learn something beautiful about himself. Something powerful and I bet quite scary (it is scary now, let alone back then). And yet, Benedict was able to overcome his own bias and give in to his curiosity. It a beautiful thing to witness. A thing that I was hoping was going to happen since season 1, because the seeds were there (trust me, I'm a destiel and a merthur shipper, the seeds were there).

My only concern with this storyline, it's that I hope they follow through, otherwise yes, looking back, those scenes will be considered a waste. And I'm not saying Sophie should not exist. On the contrary, I think Sophie should exist AND someone else should exist as well. That would mean the world to me.

Bridgerton has the chance to do what a very few shows had be able to pull off, and almost one of that with this kind of resonance. It would be a step in the right direction towards the acceptance and the recognition that there are multiple ways of love, and each one of them are valid.

I don't think they will go through it,let's be clear. But my heart holds a little hope that the time has come that showing a throuple or a different combination of people having a relationship is not such an impossible thing to do.

To be clear there are shows who did that. Sense8, the bastard son and the devil himself (watch it!), you me her, so it's not groundbreaking, but it would help greatly.

Love is endless and infinite. Loving two people (or more) doesn't mean your love is reduced by half or more. It means it doubles and expand. Being able to love multiple people had give me the chance to learn stuff about myself I would not learn in any other way, so I hope it will be the same for Benedict.

I hope you're still with me at the end of this. It's okay if you think about this in a different way, but I'm hoping I could give a glimpse of what an alternative view is like. And I'd like to conclude with three words that I have tattooed to remember always that my cardinal star is love. Amor vincit omnia.

Ok Colin saying to Pen “Perhaps that was another part of your planned entrapment” did not sit right with me and shouldn’t have made the cut especially after Pen told Colin she has loved him in secret since the day they met fuck the writers for that one!! And I wanted more sex tf?!

yeah🙃tbh there’s quite a few things and choices made that have me like ‘oh!’ but I didn’t know if it was a plot in the book or something netflix just decided to add

but the lack of sex in comparison to other scenes was so ???? like why was most of it just benedict and his wee throuple😭I swear polin only have like two? or three? and even they were pretty mediocre compared to scenes we got for other seasons
