One last thought for me tonight. In one of the videos (since I watch a lot of them), it was the one where they were talking about a Polin song. Luke mentioned Mirrors from Justin Timberlake and Nic mentione she was thinking Cyndi Laupers’s True Colors.

I wasn’t paying that close attention in the past (best part of going back through all the videos) until Luke mentioned about paying attention to the lyrics. ⬇️

This, this made me feel seen and heard!! Perfection 🥰. I have no idea why it matters, why the ups and downs matter, but they do. I find joy in the happiness that they showed all of us on WT. I mean, doesn't everyone want that kinda friendship/lover/lifer in their world. It's contagious and fun to think about a life so strong, honest , and brave! Thank you for not letting me beat myself up for feeling a certain type of way about N and L. Their relationship is a gift, and I will not feel bad for wanting it to grow and become something beautiful that we all witnessed.

I’m going to say what you’re not supposed to say:

I believe it would be easier on everyone, on Luke and Nicola, on their families and friends, on the fandoms and their PR teams, if they are clear on what’s going on with them and their romantic connections. Just a short quick statement, and explain they won’t be discussing this further, and we move on.

And frankly, I know, this has nothing to do with my life, and it’s none of my business. (I know that!)

Here the thing about me: I’m a person with an open heart. A hopeful heart. A heart that wants to stop hurting over the pains of the world and the pains of people we know. I want goodness to rule the day. And if I have to grieve something, I want to be able to grieve it as I should so I can go about life again.

For some stupid reason that I can’t fully explain, I cheer Nic and Luke with an open and hopeful heart. I want them to be together. And I’ve been trying to understand what it is about them that I’m so drawn to. It’s their light, their energy together. I want that energy for our world.

I also want to find a way to walk away. Everyone has to be so tired of all the negative energy and misdirections. I’m so exhausted of the back and forth of this fandom and all of the breadcrumbs and cookie crumbles we’ve been given, wondering if they are true. The Luke-coded things that Nic posts. The Nic-coded things that Luke posts in his stories. We are so sure that they are together and…

A photo comes out. A comment is posted.

And the whole fandom flips out again.

You have the Occam’s Razor folks- the ones who believe based on only what they see explicitly, and nothing directly from Nic or Luke. Most of these are photos from paparazzi or just assuming that when friends get together, they must be dating.

Then there are the Big Picture folks, like me. Sure I don’t know what’s going on. The thing is - I look at the whole narrative, Nic, Luke, and what the people they trust have released. We use our critical thinking skills and know that many simple comments or photos don’t fit in with the big picture narrative. Many of us see how the pieces fit together. Nic likes puzzles. This is a puzzle.

So now we are at a moment when many of us believe they are together and some other private events are happening. And we are elated. We are waiting for the day that everything is confirmed—

But then one comment by someone who we believe has Luke’s interest at heart has mentioned someone else.

This doesn’t fit with the Big Picture. It just doesn’t. And maybe this is the confirmation we need. It makes us horrifically sad. We grieve. And I know this has nothing to do with our lives. But we grieve anyway.

In the past, we have been ready to accept that they’re not together… and then something gives us hope. We’ve gone through emotional whiplash over and over again. And we shouldn’t feel this way. This has nothing to do with our lives. Yet many of us are empaths and sense things and feel emotions greatly.

We’ve be happy. We’ve been upset. We’ve overanalyzed everything to death because we are puzzle people. We’re also romantics, and we want the happy ending we are ever-hoping for. We’ve grieved, told ourselves we need to leave this behind, and still, because of their light, believe in goodness, in light, and in love.

It would help everything if the bandaid would be pulled off. The people who need to grieve can grieve. The people who want to celebrate are able to. People will face the truth and stop blaming Luke or Nic or anyone else they are related to.

And we can get back to our pre-World Tour, “I can be the Ken for her”, days again whether we are grieving or celebrating.

You know what, though, about that...

I still say that part of what Colin means when he said that was that she actually stands out from all other women. She is distinct and more than that. She is special to him.

Yeah, he needs to be hit on the head, and figure out that she is, indeed, a woman in that sexual sense. And ooff, poor Penelope, I don't blame her for how she takes that. But it's not the slight people often take it as.

She's so sad in this moment. :( Girl, hold on, he's gonna see you.

Bridgerton folks! First chapter of the week, I think this story will last until next week, so we are looking at 5/6 chapters still.

Also, a warm hug to you all for your prefer reason. The world out there is... A lot at this moment, and we all need a hug.

When they come back in the estate, Younger Colin is expecting a reproach, a threat... Something from Older Colin.

Instead, he smiles at him.

Smiles.

He feels furious at that smile, because the kiss he has exchanged with Pen has rewritten his reality - he knows Older Colin didn't cause the jump, still he needs a place for his guilt and his desire.

He never felt so conflicted in his life.

He goes for his room, as he needs some time to think.

After a while, a knock on his door reveals Pen, looking with worry in her eyes.

Unable to resist her, like always, he lets her in.

"Older Colin sent me. He said you're angry and you need someone to talk too."

There is something unnerving about having a version of yourself that - by virtue of being you - can understand what you're going through so well.

"Is it because of our kiss?"

And he know that older Colin didn't say why. This is all Pen, and the peace he finds when he is in her company - by virtue of their connection and simply because Pen is Pen.

Before he can even process, he starts to talk.

All of his resistance, all of his guilt, everything comes out until he fees tears pricking in his eyes and he tries to resist them.

Pen does nothing beside putting a hand on his cheek and it's game over.

He starts to sob, and Pen guides him in a hug as he dries his eyes.

It's only after the explosion is over that he realizes that he has his face on her bosom, and she is petting his hair.

The motion is very calming, but he can sense the flesh underneath his lips and he can't help but kissing her there. A chast kiss that makes her chuckle.

"I know you may not want to hear it now, but your older version does the same after he cries," she tells him and he feels depleted.

"So, I want to go over some point you said, but I don't think you can engage with me right now. How about I send in here some dinner, you try to rest and tomorrow we send the children with their nannies and we talk? All three of us?"

That seems very reasonable.

He nods, and when Pen gives him a light peck on his lips he doesn't protest. He is done protesting, quite honestly.

He is grateful for the space and for having time to recovery, because the next day he is going to have to tell her that he is j love with every version of her... And until he doesn't say it out loud it doesn't feel real somehow.

Still, that night, he sleeps like a baby.
