heehee hoohoo persona au thoughts

i'm copy-pasting these directly from my notes doc so they're a lil messy, i'm hoping to do some sketches of the crew/Maybe work on persona designs this weekend :V

something something it’s chris’s (and jimmy’s) first year of college, martin’s already entering grad school here and aviva and koki are roommates (dating? who knows. they sure dont). 

aviva and koki are entering their senior year and part of aviva’s undergraduate thesis is developing some sort of invention idk – she wants to tap into the energy that can be drawn from ley lines (assuming they’re an actual thing in this world idfk) and convert it into an actual usable resource. kiiiiind of a huge undertaking for a fuckin undergrad final but cmon, this is aviva we’re talking about. girl’s gonna invent a TIME MACHINE in like 4-5 years’ time

anyway something goes wrong during the experimentation phase and it creates some sort of rupture in the ley lines, something something it opens up a tear in spacetime and creates this au’s shadow world

aviva doesn’t actually know this is what happened when the machine first malfunctions. shit doesn’t actually start picking up until a few weeks into the semester

anyway meanwhile chris and jimmy are college freshmen, chris meets koki and aviva through martin and the four of them hang out for a while.

the bros help aviva look for koki after she didn’t come back to the apartment for a few days; normally she lets her know if she’s gonna be gone for a while but this time aviva’s heard absolutely nothing from her

their investigation is what kicks off the whole shebang cause martin like. “trips” over a corrupted ley line and it ends up causing all three of them to fall into the shadow world. they realize koki’s trapped in there as well and with the help of a little creature named jovian(!!) they work together to rescue her and get everybody home (it’s during this little operation that the bros awaken their personas)

after that whole thing aviva revisits her lab notes and realizes. uh oh. this might be my fault. and god she feels terrible about it and she has absolutely no idea what to do and like. it’s not like they can take this to the police or anything cause what the hell are they gonna do about any of this? so from the looks of things it might be up to her to reverse what she accidentally caused

koki is the first one to jump on board and INSIST her help for aviva in any way she can. she and the bros saved her life this is the least she can do for her best friend and roomie. martin and chris agree to help out too (considering the whole persona thing and the fact that they’re seemingly the only ones able to communicate with jovian from the real world – for now)

jimmy comes in during some side plot where koki like, runs into him a few times throughout the semester before he ends up getting tangled up in the shadow world stuff too. jimmy’s persona awakens after the party has to go in and rescue him after he fell in

anyway most of this story is the party working together to keep the shadow world at bay while aviva keeps working on a reversal process. every now and then a corrupted ley line will appear somewhere around the city/ campus and the crew will have to defeat the shadow manifesting inside it / rescue whatever poor passerby fell in

there’s also a subplot with zach and his rivalry with aviva? i wanna include the other villains as well but im not sure where to put them just yet
