I really like your nejisasuneji fanart!I think the similarity between Neji and Sasuke in Naruto is worth exploring. Both of them come from the pupil aristocracy, and their strength is about the same (the early Byakugan and Sharingan are both very strong), and both of them are rebels. Regardless of whether it was fate or the system, both people failed in the end. Neji still failed to escape fate and became a scapegoat. Sasuke finally compromised to the old system and ran around in order to maintain the status quo. It is very appropriate to use one sentence to evaluate the two people: "Those who try to control their destiny end up being controlled by destiny."It will be interesting for the sasuneji two to help each other: Sasuke helps Neji reform the Hyuga clan and break the curse seal of the caged bird. yesssss this is what drew me to them! i find it very interesting they are both clan prodigies with Baggage and both come from prestigious clans no less. remember when the sharingan and byakugan were compared to each other and it meant anything ever that was FUN.

i particularly enjoy the idea of contrasting them because If I Wrote Naruto (said every naruto fan ever) this conflict of like. sasuke goes on to be the one who could Not bear to stay in konoha and then later turns against it, vs neji who stayed in konoha after being promised that things would change (and they didn't. funny that) would be something to be explored! especially after Both having been seen as Shitty, Angry Prodigies. but neji "calmed down" after being made promises that weren't kept and sasuke didn't let himself even consider falling for stuff like that (until the ending of naruto lmfao)

i'm a big fan of characters who contrast like that lol and i think the whole sharingan vs byakugan thing is a very fun backdrop to that. like dreams/illusions vs reality/truth? come on now.

people joke about it a lot i've seen, but literally if neji as a character were allowed to 1. exist in a meaningful way at all in shippuden lmfao 2. interact with sasuke, i do think it'd be an easy path for interesting interactions, because like. having to defend the village who's literally never helped you, against the guy who was also Never given any assistance or support growing up, AFTER the village made you countless promises that your life would get better when it literally did not? lol. lmao even

them teaming up is sincerely on the like top 5 best things that would happen If Naruto Made Any Sense to me to be honest i do think about it a lot.

When he begins his journey Sasuke is actually given a fire pokemon from his family. As the Uchiha is a large clan with a preference for Fire type Pokemon there’s a sort of expectation that Sasuke will also like fire type pokemon

Sasuke still asks to partake in the ‘catch your first pokemon’ part of the journey with the rest if his classmates. He goes in expecting to locate a fire type pokemon and add it to his team but instead he finds a Magnemite. He’s still not sure why, but he decides to catch the Magnemite in that moment and add it to his team.

As the son of a past gym leader, there’s a lot of expectation on Sasuke. Especially since he’s also the brother of Itachi, one of the greatest Pokemon trainers of his generation and one of very select few known for getting every single gym badge (including the lesser known ones and Kakashi’s). Sasuke has all eyes on him and he’s determined to prove that he is just as great, if not better, than his big brother.

Okay, so I didn't draw every month. Who cares. I actually had a lot of fun with my art this year, did so many full color illustrations, and managed to start one of my long-time projects. I think that joining Art Fight really helped. Not only has it encouraged me to explore creating and developing my own characters, it was so rewarding to gift art directly to people who spent so much love and time on their OCs!

I think that because of the shock from the events of my 2023 and trying to fill the void in my heart after the pokemon anime with satoshi ended, i cycled through quite a few fandoms this year. It's been fun, and really pushing me to adapt to and try different styles. My fundamentals still need work, but I'm working on not avoiding difficult poses/compositions and instead attempting them even if they end up wonky!

Also...I'm aware I didn't post more than half of these on tumblr...maybe I should just for archival purposes ^^; I've kinda gotten over my 'if it doesn't perform numbers on sns, it's not good' mindset, but I think I'm still trying to get over the 'people know me for one thing, and idk how they'll feel if i stop making content for that one thing' mentality. NGL, I still want that external validation from having my art recognized, but making art that I'm personally proud of is still my main priority. Bah, add that to my goals for next year.

A lot of life events (mostly positive!) in 2024 also led me to do some other artistic pursuits like...

nail art

sewing (i made that!!! and it has pockets!!!)

cosplay (even managed to squeeze in a last minute casual tifa cosplay lol)

and even video editing!!! (I won't post...for now... but if you know my youtube, you know... lol)

Anyways, I hope to continue this creative energy and motivation into the next year. I realized that I'm not gonna get anywhere by just standing still, so even if I don't show that progress publicly, I want to keep practicing and improving! Rather than only moving with bursts of inspiration, it'd be nice if I could go back to consistency, because I know that ultimately, that's the only way I'd be able to tackle my larger projects. I'm also very likely to join Art Fight again in 2025, so maybe...flesh out a story or design for an OC?? Quite ambitious, but cautiously optimistic for the future!

So, we all know Gengar, because he takes over the Pokemon SNS Accounts every October and posts nothing but himself with the other fame-drunk Pokemon. Mimikyu gets cred because it's literally the creepy counterpart to Pikachu, and if you go on Youtube for a second you'll find channels talking about other, less well-known Pokemon.

But. There is one Pokemon that is so underrated and overlooked that people who are newer to the Pokemon games will have not heard of it nor seen it represented in any official merchandise except in trading cards, and it is

this. This rusty anchor that could give you tetanus and strangle you with the literal algae on its messed-up body.

Ignoring its abhorrent speed and shallow movepool, the design is just so bizarrely cool. The anchor isn't even the Pokemon, it's the seaweed, hence the Ghost/Grass typing. And it uses its anchor to hunt Wailords, because apparently grass can now defeat 47 feet marine behemoths, and this raises some serious questions. Brambleghast was proof enough, but now we know the truth that undead plants can be living, sentient creatures.

This also raises some ethical questions, because if the implication of eating cute little useless Magikarp wasn't enough, do people in the Pokemon World kill these seaweed ghosts, dry them out, and wrap rice up in them? But if you can't really kill ghosts, do the spirits locked up in Dhelmise's seaweed body go on to possess those unfortunate enough to eat it?

Of course, Dhelmise's overall appearance is one of an anchor, not seaweed. This leads us to the question of how long Dhelmise has even existed as a lost soul trapped in a seafaring device. Anchors weren't invented until seafaring technology was developed, so there are two main possibilites that can branch from this.

Dhelmise existed before the invention of anchors, and it attached itself to rocks and other inanimate objects in the ocean to survive.

As ships became more abundant and shipwrecks started happening, the souls of those lost at sea came back to undead life in the form of these algae, growing on anchors as a means of fighting off predators who would have interest in thin, flimsy seaweed.

This post was literally just me having an aneurysm over the fact that I have never heard of Dhelmise before, and being relatively new to the Pokemon franchise, I can't really say much more about it. Maybe Dhelmise isn't as underappreciated as I think it is, or maybe this post holds some truth. Either way, Dhelmise is a bizarrely cool Pokemon with a lot of potential for interesting lore, and it deserves a lot of love.
