I've lost so many nuzlockes in the past. I honestly don't know what to do with myself. And I was supposedly playing on the default difficulty, too. There were WAY harder options with way less wiggle room. What does that say about me as a Trainer? As a PERSON? Mind you, this is after well beyond 150 failed Unbound attempts (YES, I COUNTED EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM. ASK AND I'LL THROW YOU INTO THE NEAREST OCEAN), and I'm honestly just...

Tired.

I've been at this for literally 3 years at this point, and I've either lost in an embarrassing fashion such as above, was left with everything except my exp dump/hm mule, or had to reset because I'm an IDIOT and basically softlocked my run. I even resorted to CHEATING by reviving mons and still lost.

To put this in perspective, I've easily tripled the time that Pokemon Challenges spent on his Emerald Kaizo nuzlocke, and he's lost over much better reasons under much more strict rules. Miscalculations, preparing for the wrong fight, heck, he loses runs to things that aren't even in his control like crits or freezes or whatever. The worst part? I could easily increase the time it's taking, because of how awful I am.

All the Pokemon I've lost, the ones I had to replace and act like were the ones I knew since the start... All of that falls on me. And I hate that. I'm why they're all gone. And on top of that, I do fine in casual runs, excusing the occasional loss because I also misjudged a Pokemon surviving an attack, again because I'm the dumbest person alive.

I kinda feel like crying, I'm not even going to lie to any of you.

I'm not looking for a pity party. And I'm not sure if I'm joking about any of that or not. Probably not, because I've been told that I can get way too attached to Pokemon sometimes. I just wanted to talk about this.

Sorry if this is long, I just wanted to talk about this. I wasn't going to let my suffering over a game about mystical monsters shooting magic out of their orfaces and dogfighting gods be just a me problem lmfao.

I'm playing Inclement Emerald and I'm not nuzlocking it bc I have a delicate constitution but because I love to cook I am keeping with the gen 3 tradition of completely invalidating and disrespecting Wattson, only instead of walling with a single Marshtomp Im using a convoluted pattern of switching between 3 specific pokemon

they should hire the people that make romhacks to make actual mainline pokemon games. begging anyone who loves pokemon but hates how mainline pokemon games are right now to check out romhacks. specifically from my experience radical red, inclement emerald, and pokemon unbound. i am talking different difficulty modes. i am talking every pokemon up to galar. i am talking mega evos for pokemon that didn't get them in the mainline games. i am talking a proper sidequest system in unbound specifically. difficulty rebalancing so the games are actually challenging. please. fucking play these games so i'm not alone.

Next pokemon hack I'm playing is called Pokemon Unbound, unlike Radical Red and Inclement Emerald it's a new game w its own custom story, sprites and music! Seems pretty fun and I heard every bit as challenging as the others I've played.

My attempts never go past the second gym. Like, ever.

Context for that Breloom post, I was doing an Inclement Emerald run, right, and I had gotten two teams worth of Pokemon put on a shirt due to two trainers: Brendan, because of course I did, and I think the twins you see on that bridge before Rustboro.

I was doing awful, but I managed to squeak by every time by using my Bayleef's Razor Leaf.

When I get to Brawly or however his name's spelled, I was doing well, compared to the rest of the run anyway. Now, he has a Breloom...

...With a Toxic Orb...

With Poison Heal as its ability...

...Ice Punch to counter my only answer to Brawly's fighting-types, Oricorio...

...And Bulk Up.

It proceeded to sweep my entire team, causing me to wipe and... Well, I'd say start over, but I've sworn off that cursed game. Never again.

I never meant what I said about Breloom. I apologize, I love that little mushroom kangaroom. That Brawly fight just tilted me beyond belief.

I also have more than 50 Unbound attempts under my belt. And yes, I count, because it's basically become a meme at this point, how much I fail at this point. Some didn't even make it past the first rival fight. Some didn't even make it past the first Team Shadow grunt.

YES YES YES I LOVE THAT YOU PLAY ROMHACKS!!!! I've played gaia, glazed, insurgence and rocket version. I LOVED glazed and rocket version like you cannot BELIEVE. Do you play difficulty romhacks? You know like radical red and inclement emerald? Those ones are basically the same as the base game except made to be much harder (I've beat them tho 🤭) then there's the crazy shit like kaizo hacks. Dy play any of 'em?

you are a FAR better trainer than me for playing (n beating!!!) those difficulty hacks bro. i could never. not that im bad at pokemon, i jus give up easily n im much more interested in story than difficulty. insurgence on NORMAL mode literally had me crying on the floor. that n i still play pokemon the same way i did when i was eight (hit it till it dies n ignore all stat changing moves. swords dance??? who tf is she)

Hey, do you guys want to hear me rant for 3 hours about my favorite game, Pokemon Inclement Emerald? (Rom hack of og emerald) They made Sceptile a grass-dragon and gave it an ability that makes all its moves behave as if sun is up even if it isn't, such as growth, synthesis, and solar beam.

How can I be weirder?

You don't choose to be weird. Enjoy the things you enjoy, stop projecting. If you love boring shit, then stop pretending you don't. We don't need more FAKE wallflowers.

ripppppp i had a really good nuzlocke attempt of inclement emerald just wipe on victory road :/ it was only my 4th attempt tho, first one to get past watson but made it thru most of the game without issue. it FELT like i had a ton of deaths but also this game gives you sooo many encounters that i didn't feel too restricted by them. but i let this wipe just be a standard wipe instead of running it back with the many pokemon left in my box because I know i'm at a tipping point where i could probably limp through victory road but would definitely wipe at the E4.

next time i get back here i'm gonna look up docs for victory road trainers because they're basically like bosses with megas... (I had been using docs for the boss battles, but they don't have em for the non 'boss' trainers, unlike radical red... radical red definitely spoiled me with great QOL ANDDD really detailed and nicely laid out docs... but I saw some player-compiled docs for all trainers which I'll use if/when i get back here... : ' ) )
