rvb pokemon ??? do you have any more posts from for this au👀👀
I had a couple! Some of them were a little bit different from each other... the AU with the Rotom AI Basically went like this; Project Freelancer was essentially Team Plasma, with the Director having the same backstory as the scientist who wanted to experiment with cloning to bring back a loved one, but also had to focus on Pokemon experiments (to get funding and what-not). They seemed legit and helpful on the surface, but those in charge actually have insidious intentions. During the Mewtwo experiments, the Director would try to use information from his own mind to control the Psychic Type Pokemon, which gave life to new Pokemon, which made what they call the Alpha Rotom! This Rotom then made MORE Rotom Fragments, that were unfortunately taken away for other experiments and uses. The physical body of the Mewtwo is still stuck in the lab (and later, freeing it is also how they activate the Epsilon Rotom). Charon Industries is the Aether Foundation, which also has a "nice public face", while actually causing all sorts of problems.
As I mentioned, the AI Rotom could Evolve in different and unique ways with specific qualifications... at some point, the Alpha Rotom got "stuck" in something similar to a Golurk; an old relic from ancient days, when people made statues for Pokemon to bring to life. So, "Church" just thinks he's a guy. He certainly LOOKS like a regular dude, and nothing seems too odd until he "dies" a few times and discovers he can possess various inanimate objects or relics. He winds up getting pulled into a group of Team Aqua rejects who are stuck fighting some Team Magma losers. Thus, Red VS Blue begins! The rest of the guys are (mostly) normal humans, except for Sheila who is an Aggron (the Aquas stole a baby Aaron egg from some Magmas, and now that's their big bad tank Pokemon), and Lopez who is a Golurk that LOOKS like a Golurk. Sarge is initially adamant that everybody on his team can ONLY have Magma-approved Pokemon, but as time goes on, he finally admits that having a diverse set of different types comes in handy. Doc has a few healer-Pokemon that are given to anybody that want to be a medic of sorts, but he somehow keeps on collecting Poison Types (just because it is ironic and funny).
Elements of the siege on Silph Co would be used for the downfall of Freelancer/Team Plasma, with Carolina then hunting down the Director much like the Rival of Gold/Silver/Crystal does in Johto regarding Giovanni. Tucker is a Legendary Pokemon magnet, but he doesn't always keep them for himself (I'd like to imagine everybody gets one Legendary each, and Sarge DEFINITELY lives the dream by getting a Groudon. He ABSOLUTELY has a Red Gyarados, too!). Carolina is also a former Champion in several regions, but had to step away from League Tournaments/Gym Battles to keep a low profile. When the plot of Chorus happens, two groups are tricked into fighting each other by the ACTUAL villains, Team Rocket! For these purposes, Felix and Locus are Jessie and James, while Sharkface is Meowth- that's right!
Temple's group ticks-off the Time and Space Legendary Pokemon all Team Galactic style, while the eventual time-travel stuff is more like Wormholes in Sun/Moon, with the AI Gods being Ultra Beasts (though, Chrovos takes on a "false form" to appear as a Celebi in an effort to seem more legit. Donut finds a REAL one for himself, and it is Shiny and PINK). The Aqua and Magma group would wind up moving all through different Regions, basically either living out certain plots of the games, or going through plots points from RVB but now Pokemon themed. The Meta would have some similarities with Genesect, and the strange audio message that the Rockets used at Lake of Rage
Thanks for asking~

OPEN EVENT: Countdown of the Last Year
Tumblr media
“Ahem... testing! Is this primitive microphone working correctly~? Oh, wonderful, let’s begin.
Tumblr media
Your world is doomed. I have summoned a little... present, for all of you this belated Christmas- a creature that vanished almost twenty years ago, once stopped by a little boy and his group of friends... but now that he’s no longer around~! Go ahead my pet... be free to wander and consume the world!”
Tumblr media
THUMP.... THUMP....
Looking out the window, everyone’s terror would soon see a monstrous being, resembling Groudon, but far more... sinister. Necrotic. Almost as if draining their life forces by just existing nearby.
The Countdown to the End of the Year has begun... and for all other future years, as well!
EVENT DETAILS:
Meta Groudon, also known as False Groudon or Virus Groudon from Jirachi: Wish Maker, is on the loose! Team up with allies and enemies from all corners of the world to stop this imminent threat!
Rules:
This event is open, meaning any RP Blog interested may join!
Battling against Meta Groudon takes place in Pokemon Showdown. It will be a Doubles Custom game.
Every Day until the event ends, Meta Groudon will ‘evolve’, growing 10 levels. It will start at Level 150, and will continue to be Level 150 until the end of December 27th, 2022. This level cannot be altered or changed otherwise, aside from the Optional below. Maximum Level gained this way will be 500.
[Optional] If you lose, you have the option of having your muse be absorbed into the entity. They will not die, but they will not be available for the rest of the event. However, this will also raise Meta Groudon’s level by 5.
If pre-talked about, players can rescue other players from Meta Groudon’s absorption. If successful, the absorbed cannot be absorbed again, and will gain a perk of halving Meta Groudon’s health at the start of their next battle. (Via Filet Away + Haze)
Maximum Level gained this way will be 25.
‘Defeating’ Groudon at certain levels will yield badges. Such as beating it standard, beating it at level 200, 250, etc.
This event will automatically end January 30th, 2023.

"Thorn?"
But the moment I call out, Thorn immediately sprints away, not even glancing in my direction.
"Thorn! Wait!" I run after them, up the rocky slope, struggling to keep up. Rushing up the mountain path and panting for breath, I turn a corner just in time to see Thorn trip on a stray rock and fall off the edge. "Thorn!!"
I look down the cliff, and spot Thorn lying still at the bottom. No, no no no, this is exactly what I was trying to prevent!
I scramble back down the mountain. It wasn't that far of a drop, they might be alright. But they're probably injured, maybe a broken bone. What if they're hurt really badly? Should I bring them to a town? If I don't, they could die, but if I do…
I finally reach them, and I check over their body. They're breathing, thank Groudon, and I don't see any blood. Before I can think about what to do next, they groan and start to sit up.
"Oh! Thorn, are you okay? Hang on, I have an oran berry- Um, please don't run away! I- I'm sorry about what happened, but I want to help you, so please just hear me out!"
Thorn looks at me for a long while… "Do I know you?"
"… What?"
"Also, where am I, exactly?"
"Did… Did you… lose your memory? Again?"
"Again? Is amnesia a regular thing for me? Because that would explain a lot. Speaking of explaining, could you please do that?"
"Right, um, so, your name is Thorn- Well, technically that's not your real name, but anyway, you're a rescuer- Er, you were, but right now… A lot is happening…"
"Oh. That sounds important. So, what's happening right now? What were we doing before I suddenly lost my memory?"
Oh jeez, where do I even begin? And how do I explain that I betrayed them…
Wait. They don't remember that I betrayed them.
"… Okay, so, you were falsely accused of a crime, and now everyone is chasing after you. We need to find the truth so we can set things right."
"Okay, okay… So, what about you? You said I'm the one being chased, so… why are you with me?"
"Oh, um, well… I'm… I'm Compass, and I… I was your teammate."
"Hmm…" Thorn thinks over my story. Can they tell I'm lying? I mean I'm technically not, but I'm hiding the truth, and they're really good at reading me, and they've been thinking for a long time and they definitely see right through me- "Okay, got it. So what's the plan?"
"… Huh?"
"The plan. For how we'll find the truth."
"Oh. Um. I don't really know…"
"Well I'm certainly not gonna be any help, so you better think of something, partner."
"…"
"… Partner?"
"R-right! I'll make a plan, and we'll figure this out together!"
As we travel around, I fill in Thorn on more of the details; the Ninetales legend, the world's balance, our work as a rescue team, everything I can, with one exception. Fortunately, that topic never comes up.
"So, I used to be a human? Yeah, that sounds right. Pretty unfortunate how that matches up with the legend."
"Once we find Ninetales, we'll be able to prove your innocence."
"Sure hope we find them soon, this cold is killing me…" Thorn suddenly snaps to attention, grabbing my arm and pulling me off the path and behind a bush. Before I can say a word, they shush me with a finger, remaining still and silent.
I follow their example. Soon enough, I hear voices coming down the path; a rescue team.
"Yeah, now that you mention it, the snow DOES look kinda melted. Do all fire-types leave footprints like that in snow?"
"Most of them, yeah."
"And that shape looks like- Ah, darn it, they went off the path!"
"Don't worry, the tracks are fresh, they should still be nearby-"
Thorn leaps out from the bush, just barely missing one of the rescuers with a swing of their club!
"WHOA! Uh, yeah, definitely nearby!" The team takes a fighting stance-
"Wait!" I run out after Thorn. "We don't want to fight!"
The rescuer looks at Thorn. "You don't?"
Thorn looks at me. "We don't?"
"No, we don't. We're here searching for Ninetales, so that we can get the truth and clear Thorn's name."
The pair exchange a baffled glance. "You're out here, in the wilderness, alone with the human? You KNOW what happened to their last partner."
"No, I don't, none of us do! We don't know whether Thorn is the human from the legend. We need to know the whole truth before doing anything drastic. Jumping to conclusions will just get people hurt!"
"'Jumping to conclusions'? You're saying that, you of all people-"
The moment I realize where the conversation is headed, I shoot a bolt of fire to interrupt them. Thorn immediately dashes forward to bonk them on the head.
So much for avoiding the fight…
Once the team is down, we retreat into the frosty forest and find a safe hiding place to rest. I hadn't realized that keeping my… past actions a secret would be so difficult. "Thorn, are you okay?"
"Yeah. Got a few bruises, but nothing serious. I kept trying to kick them with my stubby legs. Must be a human instinct. You alright?"
I nod. "I'm fine…"
"… So, about that conversation…"
Oh no!
"You don't actually know that I'm innocent?"
"Oh. Well, um, no. Not even you knew, actually, because of your amnesia."
"So I might actually be the human from the legend…"
… I want to say no. I want to reassure them, tell them I think they're innocent, but… I don't know. What if they are the human? What if when we find Ninetales, they curse Thorn like they meant to, or worse?! What if I'm leading them to their death?.. No. I won't let that happen. "Whatever happens, I'll stay by your side, Thorn. Even if you are the human from the legend, then we'll find some other way to restore the world's balance. I won't abandon you."
Thorn… smiles. "Thanks. I'm glad I'm not doing this alone."
After many travels and many battles, we finally find ourselves far above the world, ready to climb Sky Tower and meet Rayquaza. We know so much now that we couldn't have even imagined back then. But something's been weighing on me the whole way… "Um, Thorn? I know this probably… definitely isn't the best time, but… Well… Maybe it's selfish of me to wait until now to say it… And I probably shouldn't distract you before such an important job-"
"Hey. It's okay. After risking your life fighting a god, I think you deserve to be a little selfish."
"Okay… Well… Remember how you were falsely accused? I… didn't exactly tell you everything-"
"I know."
"Huh?" I meet Thorn's gaze. "You… know?" They know. I can see it in their eyes. Did they recover their memory? When? How long have they known? And… why are they smiling?
"I forgive you, Compass."
"… I… You…"
"Come on, partner, we've got another god to chat with, and I have a feeling this one won't be any friendlier than the last."
"… Y-yeah. You're right." I thought letting the truth out would hang over us, but now… I feel lighter than I have in a month.

I based him off ORAS persona not RSE Maxie for those with preference!
someone request Maxie with a grunt s/o which I'll do eventually, but I misread it (sorry about that) and wrote all of this and went "well, might as not let this go to waste"
☀️Magma Leader Maxie General Romance HCs🌋
🪨 He's distant. He doesn't mean to, but he struggles at times. His mind wants to solely focus on his goals and research, so he often finds himself busy with plans and leading an entire organisation. It's obvious when he's aware that he's given you none of his time. Suddenly, you're in his office with a Numel curled up in your lap, chatting with the Magma Leader about various things. Tabitha likely reminded, admittedly, but he still acted accordingly nonetheless.
🪨 PDA is something he struggled with. His standoffish demeanour and need to seem respectable keep him from doing little more than a secretive hand-hold. The small affections comfort him more than you'll ever know. If you're more affectionate than him, you get to give a hug and kiss when you greet him. He becomes deeply flustered by this and doesn't reciprocate. (Don't be fooled. He liked it.)
🪨 In private, he's a lot more lenient. He's a cuddly guy, as his main hobby is stealing body heat. (He definitely screams blanket hog in bed.) You'll find him leaning on you quite often. In a more daring mood, you may even find him with an arm around you. You'll get a polite kiss, but nothing more. If you want to cover him in them, however, he'll secretly adore it. Maxie is just odd about intimacy. Clearly craves it, yet no idea how to initiate it. Help him, please.
🪨 Maxie varies on a Jealousy scale. With Courtney and Tabitha, he's calm and full accepting. They're his trusted admins and friends, they'll never do anything with you. With, say, Archie, he's suddenly wedging himself between you both and clearly not happy with the interaction. He overall leans more neutral, but has his moments in certain situations. He's definitely been a bit upset when he felt a Kalosian was being too affectionate. He's mostly going to complain aloud about the other person needing to learn manners. You find it just a bit funny to see his composure break about it.
🪨 He does want you to support him in his endeavours of awakening Groudon. You must understand that he's doing this for the good of humanity. The redhead is completely driven by this goal, so its quite an inevitability that it gets brought up. Should you disagree, he will try to convince you of his side. He's a bit callous and demanding, with a bit of mania. Your rejection of it stings, especially so since he values your opinions above others. If you agree, he will try to convince you to join his team. Though, he does accept is you truly don't want to.
🪨 When his plans fail, he needs much support. It haunts him terribly that not only was Archie right, but also that he almost destroyed his beloved Hoenn and the entire world with his foolishness. He takes to trying to properly help Hoenn, since Steven inexplicably got him out of any actual charges. You should just remind him that he was thankfully stopped before causing any true harm, and now he has grown as a person. He thinks on this for a while. It's a group effort between you, the Magma Admins, and most of Team Magma to reassure the man. The false confidence suddenly being gone is admittedly a bit disturbing.
🪨 If you're a trainer, he's mildly interested in seeing what you battle. It's not necessarily his forte, but he can recognise skill and talent. He may even ask you to help him become better at battling. Maxie is relatively decent in his own, but other input certainly helps. If you aren't, he still prefers you have a pokemon (Numel) for protection. Who knows what those Aqua brutes will do to you if they catch you alone. That's why you should at least have a pokemon to defend yourself.
🪨 His idea of dates are a bit strange. He'll do normal things like dinner or walking somewhere scenic (so long as it doesn't involve a large body of water). These are always pleasant and sweet, but other times his idea of a date is walking through Mt. Chimney examining rock structures or staring at the lava pool within the volcano. He's so deeply fascinated with it all that you just let him have it. (He seems like the type to enjoy a geode as a gift.) He also tends to watch all the Numels you pass with intrigue.
🪨 In case it isn't obvious, he's quite a big fan of Numel and Camerupt. They're the main star of his team and his megaevolution partner. Receiving one as a gift from him means completely trust. If you're a Numel breeder… he may propose to you after a single date. Your power is something he nearly respects as much as Groudon's own.

Legendverse Worldbuilding Ideas:
The First Set of Legendary pokemon that Arceus created:
The Creation Trio, The Lake Trio, Regigigas, Mew, Jirachi, Rayquaza ( maybe), Cresselia and Darkria, and the original Unova Dragon( maybe)
Dialga created Celebi, Rayquaza created the Genies. I have no idea if Rayquaza also created Groudon and Kyogre, though I wouldn't be surprised.
The lake trio probably created( or at the least, their presence as the lake trio and the powers that they have lead way to this) pokemon such as Victini, Shaymin and Meloetta ( these pokemon being the embodiment of a certain emotion or will power).
Certain pokemon where merely pokemon until an intervention of sorts ( the birds, the beasts) or was just a bit closer to the "divinity" than the rest ( the wolves, the swords of justice, Zarude) or where blessed/ chosen by one of the First Set ( also, again, the wolves, the swords of justice, etc)
Man made pokemon legendaries are literally pokemon but since they are man made with a set idea on mind, they are very powerful. Mewtwo and Genesect are arguably the most powerful. Mewtwo being made with the DNA of Mew ( one of the First Set) and Genesect probably being either a legendary or one of the pokemon stated above, thus was already powerful.
Some legendary Pokemon are legendary simply for how incredibly rare they are. Diancie don't just pop up, after all. They are incredible, incredibly rare. This, I feel, can be applied to Marshadow, Zerora and Volcanion.
Melmetal is fucking weird.
Going back to that maybe of the original dragon, Kyurem being from space is a myth, so it could be true or false. Though, I'm leaning false, since if that were the case then there would be no original dragon..... right?
( Arceus, space legendaries are going to be a headache to explain)
All of these are just me throwing ideas on a wall. I just wanted the get something out rather than nothing at all. If there's any ideas that you all want to share, go for it!

Okay I've been holding on to this from the train of thought forever.
Like I know you've long since gone past this point and the fact that I'm here talking about it now is nuts and you should probably delete this but I want at least get my thoughts to you in a clear concise manner
Like I was one of those people who were advocating for the idea of Giratina thinking that it was Ingo and I really do enjoy what you've actually gone towards it's really interesting.
But I read your big post and I didn't quite understand why you were thinking that it had to be -if you went down that path- sympathetic towards that Giratina sliver.
Like you totally can but there doesn't need to be redemption in the slightest.
a raw straight up Metal Sonic from within. Where they could be somewhat tragic figures if you think about it but what they want is completely opposite to what the hero that wish to replace wants.
I'm just saying you shut the down the idea without fully considering everything else (all sorts of different types of identity ( what truly makes up Ingo) and what makes up a person )
what you do have is really good. It's just that it's been stewing in my brain for a very long time.
And I know that all these ideas would fundamentally change everything that was build up.
if I recall correctly there was a push in the beginning to make the remnant a little bit more
( maybe it's like a new Pokemon or a budding creature with a conscious with no identity besides what is a random which is a very interesting foil to the nonsense of which happened to Ingo.)
I'm telling you you don't have to change anything I just came in too late to discuss these subjects but they're burning in my brain cells.
Like if somebody wants to go in this like odd strange Direction where they change the remnant a little bit. Can they do that? Is of course is giving you credit for original concept.
No worries Anon!! Train of thought AU is very much Community based and we can always circle back around to established things and talk through them again! It’s not a problem ^^
It has been a bit since we’ve talked about this, and maybe what I said back then I don’t quite feel the same anymore (I can’t quite remember), but as of now looking at what we’ve done with this AU, I’m not sympathetic towards the remnant. I’m pretty sure what we’ve established is that the remnant was a part of Giratina, but it’s not giratina at all, it’s a parasite and a Frankensteined entity (sort of like false Groudon in the jirachi movie, as I’ve stated before)
I think at one point I considered that the remnant was a part of giratina that would eventually have to unlatch itself from Ingo and return back to Giratina (?) but I don’t feel that way anymore. And I quite like your way of putting it though, Anon! It just wants the opposite of what the hero wants. It wants to stay where it is and grow until it can destroy and leave the mindscape.
Apologies if I didn’t consider something! I usually try to work with what’s given to me and most times just go with the flow of things (some cases I do consider other things though); I need opposition like this to consider other things sometimes! So thanks for sending this!

Pokemon Legends Ideas
speaking of pokemon though...
ideas for the various Pokemon Legends remake line:
Pokemon Legends: The Ancient Jungle/Mew
Based on an ancient jungle environment where fossil and dinosaur pokemon thrive an abound, the environment is thick muggy jungle and the lore of the game focuses on the discovery of the ancient pokemon Mew perhaps by following clues related to the origins of Ditto as potentially related to Mew, side stories about the origins of the legendary bird pokemon (also, even though Lugia is gen 2, perhaps he could be included here since hes the supposed leader of the bird trio? and the Johto game would focus on Ho-oh and the Beasts anyway) Mewtwo obivously wouldn’t feature but that’s fine he doesn’t need to, could easily have stories about Meltan and Melmetal instead, who are ancient pokemon
Pokemon Legends: The Burned Tower/Ho-oh
Based on a more traditional ancient Japanese style retelling of the origins of Ho-oh and the Legendary Beast trio, see the original tower burned, maybe finally see who exactly were the three original pokemon lost in the flames? with side stories about Celebi’s ancient forest and it’s travels through time but also GIVE ME UNOWN LORE BLEASE
Pokemon Legends: The Great Meteor/Jirachi
Goes into the ancient stories of the draconid people introduced in the delta episode of the ORAS remakes, Primal Ancient Kyogre and Groudon, at the peak of their power, a time where meteors constantly fell upon the earth and the first ever Mega-Evolution of Rayquaza, from the wish the first lorekeeper made upon the rainbow stone (Maybe this was originally just Jirachi themselves), plenty of side story content in the form of the Regi’s (Including Regigigas and Regidraco/Regieleki) and the twin Latias/Latios
Pokemon Legends: Arceus, duh
(but I can hope it’s not JUST Arceus, ples give some spotlight to the tons of underused in lore legendaries this gen, Darkrai, Cresselia, Shaymin, Manaphy, HEATRAN)
Pokemon Legends: The First Dragon/Kyurem/??? Pokemon that might have a different name then Kyurem
OBVIOUSLY gonna be about the first dragon, the true singular form of the original dragon that split into Kyurem, Reshiram and Zekrom and the conflict between the early factions of humans hinted from the story of black and white, give the Justice trio (Terrakion, Cobalion, Virizion, Keldeo) some side story content in the form of being active in those ancient human conflicts, Victini lore, the weather trio representing the wilderness of nature back in those times, Genesect very likely wouldn’t be a thing, but Meloetta could
Pokemon Legends: The Ultimate Weapon/Zygarde
Huge potential here for a pokemon game set during the great kalosian WAR, view the original stories of King AZ and the unique floette, how their story happened, give Zygarde some sort of role or function as antagonist against those who would create the weapon out of a captured Zerneas/Yveltal in it’s role as balancer of the natural order, easy easy side content stories, flesh out Diancie’s connection to the Carbinks, go into the story of that huge crystal sundial of Anistar City, Hoopa gots some cool stuff, and Volcanion could even have a role as something cool
Pokemon Legends: Ultra Space/Necrozma
While they could focus on Magearna for this game, since Magearna is the only pokemon with some Ancient Lore from within the region itself attached to it from this gen, I fell like Sun and Moon’s fancy legends game would actually be better served by exploring much deeper into the role of the Ultra Space, you get glimpses of the alien worlds when visiting the ultra beasts natural habitats, and you get the main Necrozma based city in ultraspace
Modern Alola is actually already very traditional, already holding fast to ancient observations and traditions that going back to plain olden times alola I feel wouldn’t do as much? Esp cuz all the interesting stuff back then the aura and totem Pokémon, all happened because of Necrozma’s fall into the world from Ultra Space
I think the intro would be best served as starting in the distant past of Alola sure, but then Necrozma falls out of Ultra Space, rips open a wormhole, and our protagonist is then Sucked Into it and their journey is throughout the cosmos of the space inbetween and giving legendary like lore to the actual Ultra Beasts themselves, Lunala and Solgaleo and Cosmog/Cosmoem originate from here anyway, so they could still be included in this story as our way back, perhaps as our original ally in the fight to stop Necrozma from devouring all the light of our world in the travels through ultra space
Marshadow and Zeraora should get some obvious love as well for sure
Pokemon Legends: The Darkest Day/Eternatus
So it’s true that we have a clear once a time story with the darkest day event from Eternatus’s history
but funnily enough, I kinda always figured that that “Darkest day” was actually Necrozma’s doing that got falsely attributed to Eternatus, since yknow, in eating of the light of the world, the day would actually darken, and doesn’t Eternatus look REALLY like something that popped out of an Ultra Wormhole? really makes you think...certainly would be a hell of a coincedence
On the flipside for “okay but what else would they do in ancient galar”, I feel like if they did do a Galar Legends game, I think a pokemon King Arthur type legendary story would be very cool, just legit make a pokemonized King Arthur/Calyrex story and we would go Nuts over it
sooo, Pokemon Legends: The Old Kingdom/Calyrex
obviously Calyrex and his steeds would be the main focus of this ancient tale with some sprinklings of Zacian/Zamazenta, but really when you glean through the ancient stories hidden in the galar, more of it focuses on the Acnient Kings of the galar region, and really Eternatus already got explored enough in the actual galar games anyway, give me the Dark Hidden Lore of Galar
but again, still some very cool side content with Zarude and Urshifu at least and perhaps maybe a tad more of the cuckoo galarian bird trio? make it tie all the way back to Legends Kanto game somehow? Ancient bird rivalry between twin trios of legendary birds would be a neat thing to explore
though how neat would it be if they actually tied all fo the ancient apolcalyptic stories from across the regions into one connected story?
in Hoenn it was that a great meteor threatened to destroy the planet so person wishes on a falling shiny rock to make the apocalypse go away, SunMoon has Necrozma darkening the sky and eating the light and when they got shattered it caused powerful shiny rocks to coalesce out of the sky, SwordShield had twin kings wish upon a magic shiny rock to make the darkest day go away
hey wait a minute, seeing a pattern there...
wonder if the great war of kalos old was also fought under some sky darkening event? and if it also involved the magical power of some shiny rock? and each region’s story is just their personal twist on the same ancient event, in the land of old, when all regions were once one...
what if the ancient conflict in Black/White’s history was actually the same war from kalos’s history? And it was actually a war between Unova and Kalos? Same war from two different sides of the conflict

You say the story of Rescue Team frustrates you? How come?
Rant ahead. Rant ahead about a game I unironically love, but I spend far too much time overthinking the plot of, hence my grievances.
Maybe I just held it to unfair standards on account of playing it for the first time after Explorers of Sky. Which is easily the greatest pokemon game ever made, accept no substitutes. Nah, Rescue Team DX is addicting, the music is incredible as always in these games, and the gameplay has been massively overhauled and made far superior to the original, which while fun, was pretty buggy. And the game does have some pretty cool characters, too. Like...whatever I may yell to the heavens about Albus Dumbledore from HP, make no mistake that he’s an exceptional and three-dimensional character. Same goes for Snape. And that applies to this game as well.
The main reason this game’s story irritates me comes down to Gengar and Alakazam. Again, they’re very well written characters...but I hate them. I despise both of them. I don’t know what it is, but Alakazam rubbed me the wrong way right from the start. Him and his whole team are so self-important, so arrogant. They condescend the MC and act like they’re the ruling body of the town square. Alakazam goes around telling people that he knows everything. That’s a god complex if you ask me. At several points, the characters make decisions based on the assumption that he is stronger than the MC, which you as a player never get to challenge. (Think of Leon from Sword/Shield, but a million times worse.) The Partner character is so in awe of them, so enamored by them. Yet behind MC’s back, Alakazam knows (or suspects) them to be the human of legend and doesn’t tell them “for their sake.” Which gives me strong Nozomi (SMT IV: Apocalypse) vibes, since later on he ignores all responsibility for having been "complicit" with the MC's secret.
The Fugitive Arc doesn't make any damn sense. First of all, Xatu claims that the disasters, all of the trouble, are being caused by the Human from the Ninetales Legend. Ninetales later debunks this. When I first played this game, I legitimately thought Xatu would wind up being some kind of secret villain, that he had lied, and that the Fugitive Arc was all started by him. This doesn't wind up being true, and we never get an answer for why he thought the Human of Legend was responsible for the state of affairs, nor did anyone question his being wrong or acknowledge his role in all this. But the one who really started everything was Gengar. He doesn't really annoy me until the Post-Game (I'll get to that) but everyone else's reactions to Gengar's story bother me. He is a known liar, a known trouble-maker who no one likes. It's well known that he has a vendetta against the MC. He has no proof whatsoever of his allegations. And everyone just buys it, despite MC now having a great reputation, because...I guess MC didn't actively deny it? Which the player was given no agency in? And it doesn't stop the accusation from being ridiculous?
Enter Alakazam. Apparently, everyone held a town meeting that must have taken all of ten seconds, to decide what to do about MC. They held this meeting without MC or the Partner present, because having them there would make too much sense I guess. Team A.C.T. prepares to...I guess kill MC? As well as the Partner, even though they're completely innocent. Before Alakazam hesitates and decides to give the MC a day to run away. Hold on, if he is so convinced that MC has to die to save the world, how do he justify letting them go? I guess the same way he justifies how he "knew" MC was the human of legend this whole time and said nothing about it? He bids MC to run, and throughout the entire Fugitive Arc, his team is the looming threat. Which was quite frustrating for me, already a Diamond Rank and probably higher leveled than Team A.C.T, because I would have been happy to settle things with Alakazam right then and there. It is beyond frustrating that the story denies me this chance. Not to mention, half of the town shows up to say goodbye when MC and the Partner take off. Like...okay, at least half of the town believes in MC. How in the hell is this even happening? Why do we have to flee when so many characters are on our side? When there's no proof? Why is Alakazam's word just considered law? If he “knows everything” how come he doesn’t know that Gengar is human as well, if he could sense MC’s humanity?
You don't know how badly I wish there was a fight with Team A.C.T. when all was said and done. And the game could have done it, too! Just have it take place at the top of the Mt. Freeze, before Ninetales shows up. They have a skirmish that takes place in a cutscene, but even in the remake - there's no boss battle. Why not? It's not like this dungeon has a boss battle otherwise. Wouldn't it have been a fitting conclusion to this arc? Maybe I'm biased, maybe I just think it would have been cathartic to kick Alakazam's ass, to make him put his money where his mouth is...because again, the arrogance. He demands Ninetales tell him what happened, and that "depending on your answer, I may be forced to eliminate MC" Ah, slow your roll there, buddy. Ninetales already broke up the fight and made it clear that it's not going to happen. You're a guest in their domain. On top of that, Team A.C.T. basically forbids you from going to Magma Cavern to challenge Groudon. As if you haven't just proven yourself capable of braving dangerous dungeons. As if, after they chased you halfway around the world and were proven completely wrong, they have any right to talk down to you or tell you what to do. Again, I so, so wish we could have fought them and taught them a lesson.
In general, this is a consistent thing with the other characters, following the Fugitive Arc. Everyone focuses on how happy MC and the Partner must be to have their names cleared, (Again, the Partner was accused of nothing. Like, literally nothing.) and no one stops to address that everyone in the Town Square should be falling to their knees and begging our forgiveness for what they put us through. Several of them tried to kill us. Upon returning to the Town Square, Gengar acts like MC is turning them-self in because they don't have any proof, even though he never had any proof to begin with, and it's only after MC is "cleared" by Team A.C.T. that everyone remembers that Gengar is untrustworthy. Reading the words "under the watchful eye of Alakazam" has always made me extremely salty. I don't have much to say about the Mankey brothers but they irritated me as well. Maybe I was just out of patience after the Fugitive Arc but I found myself wondering why we appeased them at all. Initially, we give them the chestnuts because they attack us if we don't. No matter how many times we beat them, they keep attacking if they're told no. I realize it's a staple in Pokemon games to have false yes/no choices, but those are especially noticeable in the games that focus on story. And sometimes the excuses are just pathetic. Meanwhile, the other pokemon continue to treat you as rookies, as kids. You are once again "forbidden" by...um, the other townsfolk, from going on the Rescue Mission until you talk them into it. It's like...guys. You put us through hell. We could have died a dozen times over, because you bought into the mob mentality for no good reason. How does everything just go back to normal after that?
I don't mind Gengar at first. He's a villain, and a well-written one. He's got a clear personality and there's hidden depth in there as well. He's one of my favorite characters in the game, easily. And all of the stuff he does in the main story? Stealing the mail, manipulating Caterpie, and the stuff during the Fugitive Arc? That weird psychedelic sequence where he's dragging MC down to hell at the end? (Or whatever that was?) All fine by me. He's a villain. He's doing bad things. But sweet Arceus is Gengar annoying in the Post-Game. I wonder if this must be how Merula Snyde Antis feel, over in the HPHM Fandom. Because the MC has absolutely no motivation or reason to help him out. He just demands that they act as his bodyguard, offers nothing in return, and won't leave you alone until you say yes. Buddy, my team has like thirty pokemon at this point and they're all hanging out in the Friend Areas a few feet away. You think you can intimidate me? The only reason I'm helping is to progress the storyline. And throughout this entire storyline, you have to help Gengar even though he hasn't earned it.
He does not deserve forgiveness, or a reconciliation with Gardevoir. What if I don't want to help him because I don't think Gardevoir would want to see him? What if I think that it would do her no good to see him? He's unrepentant and awful, the story does the bare minimum to suggest that he's changed. Now I will admit one thing: I love the moment that Ninetales first appears, sees Gengar, and simply goes "...What do you want." Like. Like that was the moment that I put it together, before he went on to tell the rest of the story. I love simple moments that make the big reveal crystal clear without needing to directly tell or show the audience. I've always dug that. But everything that happens after that is frustrating. Gengar demands the curse be lifted, despite having no justification to offer Ninetales. He threatens to attack them, but then clarifies that MC will be the one doing the fighting. Excuse me? Why would I ever do that? MC just found out the truth about Gengar, what he did to Gardevoir, and then how he pinned it all on them during the fugitive arc. Gengar, why would I attack Ninetales after this, instead of attacking you? Tell me I don't initiate battle against you right now? Thankfully MC doesn't have to actually fight Ninetales, but they are still forced to testify at Gengar's "trial" and it's a forgone conclusion because no matter what answers you give, it's treated as MC acknowledging his growth and he is forgiven at the end.
Oh, I’ve just thought of something else. MC isn’t given a reason for why they have to leave the Pokemon world, or why they were able to return. Explorers gave a reason. Gates to Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon made a whole post-game story out of their reasons. Here? We get nothing. MC’s “role” has finished and so they have to return to the human world. Never mind what they want. Not until after the dramatic moment where they have to leave has passed, anyway. That voice at the end who suggests that we may be able to see our partner again just by “wishing.” Who the hell was that? What did they mean? Look, by Pokemon standards, the Rescue Team story is quite substantial. By Pokemon Mystery Dungeon standards? It’s...probably the weakest story. I mean, to be fair, Super Mystery Dungeon had the endless schoolhouse arc that added up to nothing in the second act. But hell, that was still fun. And I suppose the Fugitive Arc and Gengar’s “redemption” were fun too. Just frustrating as well.

when I say I wanna be the best there ever was. I meant it. Long post warning... tl;dr local man takes "perfect Pokemon" idea too far and spends several weeks learning to RNG manipulate his DS and plays the same DS game start to finish a few times in a single month
after my fateful full odds encounter with Rufus, the shiny wooper, I decided that I must have a shiny of every single Pokemon I love. Which I think is a well adjusted response. But the more time I spent breeding oddishes with the foreign ditto I realized that it would honestly be a true shame if I finally got a shiny and it had imperfect IVs! Or nature!
Turns out that the caliber of pokemon that would satisfy my need for perfection only show up for a few dozen moments in a given decade, and so I learned about RNG manipulation! Thanks to the in depth guide on Smogon I found a whole new way to waste hours for tiny incremental improvements!!
So. The perfect Pokemon. I start at the Smogon competitive guide and find which stats to match so I can find the seed in RNG reporter. For a Pokemon to be shiny it must satisfy a condition including the original trainer ID/secret ID (SID), so with a given save you only have access to a tiny subset of all possible IVs that are shiny.
Usually you can get around this by breeding, when IVs are assigned separately. You can hit one seed for the shiny PID with the correct nature, generate an egg, save, hit another seed, and then collect the perfect Pokemon!
This only doesn't work if:
1. Your pokemon is legendary/event only/gift only or
2. You have a preference on what ball it's captured in, or the original location, or for some reason the trainer ID (which can grant renaming rights pokemon with OTs that match) or maybe other things I haven't thought of?
Since perfect means perfect, I'm obviously in the both of those groups. The perfect oddish deserves a luxury ball, and would only be right to encounter in Ilex Forest. So! I need a new TID. I create a new ss save (may as well to complement my hg main save) with perfect timing at the very beginning to get the right TID. Several hours later I'd bred a shiny Absol and trained it to know mean look, false swipe, and thunder wave. Its IVs were random but still had good IVs from the perfect ditto. Only the best to capture the perfect Pokemon.
So then I was SO ready to go get the oddish, who I had already mentally named KIWI, only to find out I need a Synchronize lead (fortunately I had a ralts in my main save that was modest), two chatots to advance frames, and fittingly another oddish to attract it with sweet scent. After getting THOSE, I went to Ilex Forest in front of the shrine, sang like a hundred times with my chatots, and summoned. The motherfuckin kiwi.
Tumblr media
And here he is!!!! 31/31/31/31/31/31!
Inspired and motivated by my victory, I finally beat the game (still hadn't best Kanto), bred and trained a perfect Garchomp (PUFF, M.D., which stands for magic dragon), and the perfect Dragonite to give an egg move to the perfect Garchomp. THEN it being the Christmas season and all I decided to do the same for @spookclimber who got me back into Pokemon in the first place. Their unsuccessful (😥) Rayquaza grind inspired my initial shiny hunting, though they eventually made the hard decision the progress in their emerald save.
I had my TID/SID for the Modest KIWI, but the perfect Rayquaza is Adamant. So! New save! New TID! A spreadsheet!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Green squares reach represent a possible save where you could encounter a perfect legendary of either nature it intersects. Blue is perfect special attacker; below 31 ATK in order to get the correct nature. I didn't check my work, but I think it's the same for below 31 Sp. Atk, like the Adamant Rayquaza. I guess 31/31/31/31/31/31 pokemon can only be Timid, Modest, Docile or Calm?
Yellow is useless because why not get two potential natures, and the black/white areas are mirrors of each other.
That informed the next bit. I compiled all the legendaries in plat/hgss and got what natures Smogon recommended, then consolidated them into 3 games with two natures each that only misses 3 pokemon for perfect (potentially, I only am trying to perfect things I want on my team).
So it was settled. The perfect Rayquaza was to be found in soulsilver so that it could have a twin perfect Groudon (who will set up for KIWI). So no problem right? Just reset, time the beginning, beat the game, beat the e4 again, beat red, talk to mr. pokemon, go catch (and time) Groudon, boot up hg, go catch Kyogre (perfect kyogre is later in the plan), trade that to ss, go show Kyogre and Groudon to professor oak, go BACK to the embedded tower, and time Rayquaza!
And so it came to pass that my longest and most satisfying hunt was completed.
Presenting the spook's well timed all natural perfect Pokemon certificate of authenticity for the god of all Rayquazas:

Game time is 19 hours in. Can't wait to trade him!

Sorry to bother you again, but I just wanted to say that I finally caught a shiny Tornadus, and this time Synchronize worked and it has a Timid nature!!! If you hunt on your Sun/Moon game I would recommend using the roto-catch power (using this with paralyze that alredy doubles the chance of catching the Pokemon really helps - unless you knew this already of course) anyway, just wanted to tell you! Happy new year and happy shiny hunting! :D
Bruh, that’s awesome!!!! I imagine timid or modest nature would work really well on Tornadus. Usually, I don’t go out of my way to use synchronizers–I’m more concerned with outlasting the Pokemon and stocking up on useful items because many of the shiny fails I’ve seen were usually because the player had severely underleveled Pokemon.
I’m hunting in Ultra Sun right now, and yeah I do use the Rotom-capture power (when I remember, haha), and paralysis is my go-to status of choice because A) it doesn’t faint the Pokemon, and B) it doesn’t go away on its own. Yet, I’ve had battles against Pokemon immune to thunder wave (I don’t usually use stun spore because reasons) like Raikou and Groudon, so I just weaken it like I always do and hope for the best.
I also utilize false swipe after verifying that the Pokemon in fact does not have a recoil move to weaken it a little further and maximizes my chances of catching it on every throw. If you Google up pokemon capture rates/chances calculator for gen 7, you’ll see that you can calculate your chances of catching the Pokemon as well as seeing how many times the Pokeball will move depending on different parameters, such as remaining health, status, type of ball thrown, etc, etc…
But as you can guess, this strat won’t work with ghost-types…OR WILL IT?? Having a false swiper be a Pokemon with the scrappy ability, like Smeargle, is super helpful in situations like these. In fact, Smeargle by itself is super helpful because it can learn any move that ever existed. Ever.
Still, kudos to you for catching that elusive Tornadus! And I hope you have a splendid year of fantastic shiny hunting finds! Happy New Year!
